i. INTRODUCTION CODE : INT1
=--=-=-=-=--===---=-==-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==--==--===-=-=-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=
"My name is Apollo Justice, and I'm a rookie defense attorney.
In the courtroom, people lie for many reasons.
Maybe there's someone they want to protect, or maybe they just want
to protect themselves...
But whatever the reason, I'll see through it all and get to the truth,
because that's what I do.
The time has finally come... Welcome to MY courtroom!"
-from the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney manual
This is the beginning, at least for Apollo Justice. Our fresh new attorney
steps in to the starring role, fighting to prove the innonence of his
clients in a ruthless court system that promises justice for none.
All trials start immediately and are mandated to last no more than three days.
Prosecutors are free to introduce any evidence, fabricated or not, and
manipulate witness testimony to highlight only those facts damaging to
defendants, the truth be damned. The courts are no longer about protecting the
innoncent or punishing the guilty, but for convicting everyone.
Apollo Justice's mission is to remedy the situation. As a defense attorney,
his duty involves preparing a vigorous defense for his client, but Justice is
about absolute truth, and he puts everything he has on the line to get to the
bottom of each and every case. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney gives you the
opportunity to guide Apollo through four such cases.
This is accomplished through a first-person text adventure. Outside the
courtroom, you'll have to survey the areas around the scene of the crime,
collecting valuable evidence and interviewing witnesses to uncover valuable
facts. Once the court proceedings are underway, you must read through witness
testimony in order to find inconsistencies, and then Apollo can nail the
witness to the wall with contradictory evidence. Piece together the facts,
and justice will prevail. Fail, and your client will lose his freedom forever.
Good luck!

ii. GAME MODES/GENERAL STRATEGY CODE : GM22
=--=-=-=-=--===---=-==-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==--==--===-=-=-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney features four cases. Solve one case, and you'll
unlock the next challenge. However, to navigate through each adventure, you
must utilize a couple of different modes:
Detective Work and Courtroom Questioning.
+-------------------------------+
Detective Work
+-------------------------------+
Some of the key evidence for a trial can only be found by having Apollo snoop
around for himself. After all, there's no way the prosecution is going to hand
him the keys to the case every time. Don't worry, though, because it's
impossible for Apollo to lose while he's playing Sherlock Holmes. The game
won't allow you to proceed until all relevant clues and testimony have been
collected and heard.
Evidence collected is stored in the Court Record, a valuable menu area where
you can peruse all relevant details of the evidence or review the profiles
of the people involved in each case. The facts laid forth in the Court Record
are the ones that will be used to challenge falsehoods laid out in witness
testimony.
The menu for Detective Work has four options:
Examine - When Apollo is in his investigative mode, he can examine his
surroundings to look for clues. When you hit the Examine button, the
picture of the area will migrate from the top to the bottom screen.
Moving the crosshairs(with stylus or d-pad) over the picture, any
item of interest will illuminate another "Examine" button. Apollo
will automatically pick up any item that can be used as evidence.
Be sure to examine even the most mundane of objects; anything can
serve as a key to unlock a case's secrets.
Move - This lists all the locations Apollo can travel to from his current
location. Only currently available locations are listed; as Apollo
investigates he may find other places to travel. Obviously, it's to
our attorney's advantage to investigate every area available to him.
Also, since he cannot go directly from each area to every other area,
it's useful to note how the areas are connected. It could even help
in reconstructing the events of the crime!
Talk - Apollo will frequently run into people while he's investigating. Make
sure to speak with everyone about all the available subjects. Sometimes
revisiting with a person after other events have unfolded will unlock
new and more revealing topics of conversation.
Present - You can also have Apollo present evidence he has collected to an
interested party to elicit more information; this includes only the
evidence in the Court Record. These are the easiest hints to miss,
since the clues of what to present to whom can be lost in a line of
dialogue. If you ever get stuck, it's probably because you have
overlooked presenting someone with an item from the Court Record.
Once in the courtroom, Apollo has to cross examine each witness in order to
expose his lies. This is done by not only presenting the right evidence, but
unveiling it at the correct moment -- exactly when the lie is perpetrated.
The Judge will only brook spurious allegations for so long; his patience is
literally represented in the style of a life meter. Present irrelevant
facts too many times and the trial will end immediately in favor of the
prosecution.
The testimony can be reviewed as often as you wish, during which you will
have two regular options:
Press - Apollo will needle the witness about the current statement whenever
you choose the "Press" option. This is a valuable option because it
not only futher illuminates some facts -- sometimes you can destroy
entire stories by merely pressing certain points -- but it usually
cannot count against the Judge's patience and jeopardize the outcome
of the trial.
Present - Most often, a witness's falsehoods can only be exposed with
decisive evidence that directly contradicts his testimony. When
the moment to reveal the truth arrives, press "Present" in the upper
right corner of the screen. Choose the piece of evidence that
refutes the witness's claims, and Apollo will be one step closer to
clearing his client and uncovering the real perpetrator. Present
wisely, though, as Apollo's life meter will deplete with every
misstep. The amount lost will be proportional to the importance
of his mistake. When the meter his empty, the case is over for
everyone.
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney introduces one new option into the Courtroom:
Perceive - Apollo has a special ability to perceive when the witness is hiding
information; he detects their nervous habits, points them out, and
rattles the witness. This perception is useful when there do not
appear to be any holes in the witness testimony that can be
directly contradicted by evidence.
In order to perceive, you put Apollo into a special mode by
"touching" his bracelet at the top of the touch screen. You'll
notice this is not always an available option; the computer will
start out by making Perceive Mode present only when it is relevant.
In Perceive Mode, Apollo has a small window through which he can
observe the witness's habits up close. He can see every twitch
of a finger or blink of an eye as the witness reads through their
testimony. The key is to match up the behavoir with the snippet
of testimony that causes it. And voila! The truth will emerge.
