I. VERSION HISTORY
================================
v1.00 The initial version. I hope to improve on it, though, with your help.
v1.10 I added Triforce to the Yellow Feng Shui section. It may be a Lucky
Yellow item, though. I also moved Snowman TV from Green to Yellow.
v2.00 I added Arwing, Master Sword, Pikmin, and Triforce as Lucky Items.
Thanks to AXA, I can now say with more certainty that items with
multiple category designations will give you double or triple the Feng
Shui luck bonus. I added an Acknowledgements section and a section on
determining your Feng Shui score. I also added info on the dual color
coding system used in this game and overhauled the item organization. I
also expanded the Table of Contents.
v3.00 I added item size information. I added a Current Controversy and a FAQ
section. I also added info on placing items on top of tables.
v3.50 I fixed an error in the Highest Feng Shui Score section thanks to help
from Wood Bottle. I also expanded the scoring to include all additional
rooms since current evidence shows you can practice Feng Shui in all
rooms.
v3.75 Thanks to some pertinent info from JR, I have suspended section VII.
Also, some of the issues have been resolved. You can practice Feng Shui
in all rooms and you definitely do get the Feng Shui bonus for items on
top of tables. I also added some info about placing items in front of
doorways due to several people contacting me with confusions.
v3.76 I fixed some grammatical/typing errors. Thanks to user walentys for an
item error.
v3.80 I fixed the size errors of the Arwing and the Samurai Suit (thanks
Omega Star!). I also fixed two errors in the Scenarios section (thanks
to poodog54's keen eyes!): Treasure Chest's color was wrong and the
Lucky Gold Cat was replaced with a trophy because the form cannot be on
top of a table.
v4.00 I finally got my own Nintendo DREAM guide! Now I can bring you all kinds
of great info about Feng Shui. For instance, Flowers and Gyroids color
info. Check out the item list. I also moved Diver Dan to the Lucky
Yellow section from the Yellow section.
v4.25 I readded the Pikmin and made notes of inconsistencies about Lucky
items. I've also listed other items that cannot be obtained, so I will
remember to test them as I get them. Finally, I added an additional HRA
bonus for Lucky items (it's a huge bonus).
v5.00 Diver Dan, Coin, Fish Trophy, Bug Trophy, Flower Trophy, and Lucky Gold
Cat are not Lucky items. Also, the Scarab Beetle appears to be Lucky
thanks to user mazoboom's translations! I updated Issues, and I greatly
expanded the HRA section. I added a Feng Shui effect section. I've added
arrangements to the Best Arrangements section. I've also begun to
alphabetize the item lists because I think it's pretty much finalized,
save for the Mario Theme items that haven't been released in the US yet.
v5.10 Fixed typos and errors.

III. INTRODUCTION TO FENG SHUI
================================
Feng Shui is a decorating theme that brings you good luck with money and items.
=====COLOR DETERMINATION=======================================================
All items in this game are assigned two colors. The only colors with which we
are concerned are Red (R), Yellow (Y), and Green (G).
Items that are assigned two Feng Shui colors contribute more to your Feng Shui
than do items with only one Feng Shui color assigned to them (the other color
being a non-Feng Shui color).
For curiosity's sake, the other colors that items may be assigned are Brown,
Black, Gray, White, Blue, Orange, Pink, and Colorful.
For example, a Mush Bed is R/R, whereas a Mush Table is R. Therefore, a Mush
Bed will bring twice as much luck as a Mush Table if they are placed on a R/R
square. Other items such as the Music Box are R/Y.
=====LUCKY ITEMS===============================================================
Some items are Lucky and bring extra Feng Shui with them. They may or may not
have a Feng Shui color association.
=====EFFECTS===================================================================
This section will begin to categorize specific effects people notice when
practicing Feng Shui. Feng Shui increases luck with money or items only. It
does not affect the rarity of fish and bugs you will catch.
YELLOW FENG SHUI BRINGS GOOD LUCK WITH MONEY
Does not affect...
Bell rocks
Number of money bags that fall from trees daily
May affect...
Money trees
GREEN/RED FENG SHUI BRING GOOD LUCK WITH ITEMS
Do not affect...
Number of items you receive from trees daily
May affect...
Frequency of receiving items from outside your town's group (either A, B,
or C)
Frequency of seeing Balloon Presents, Gulliver, and Wishy the Star
Frequency of receiving neighbor pictures
=====FURNITURE PLACEMENT=======================================================
You can practice Feng Shui in all 5 rooms of the house. I don't think
orientation of items affects your Feng Shui (only colors matters), but the
orientation definitely affects your HRA score (see later section).
The following summarizes the color association of the spaces in your room. Each
space is assigned two colors.

=====DETERMINING YOUR FENG SHUI SCORE==========================================
After you have placed all your desired items in your main room, you can
calculate your Feng Shui Score. This score is different from your HRA score,
but Feng Shui does contribute to your HRA score. I made up this scoring system
just so people can compare. Preferably, if quoting your score, divide it up
among Yellow, Green, and Red.
I. First, you need to calculate the individual item Feng Shui Scores for each
square that the item occupies. You get a Feng Shui bonus for each square
that a Feng Shui item occupies.
I will use the variables A, B, and C to refer to arbitrary colors.
An item can be A, B, C, A/A, B/B, C/C, A/B, B/C, or A/C and squares can be
A/A, B/B, C/C, A/B, B/C, or A/C.
Question 1
a) If the item has no color designation, then................................+0
b) If an item's color designation is A and it is on a/an
i) A/A, A/B, or A/C square, then........................................+1
ii) B/B, C/C, or B/C square, then........................................+0
c) If an item's color designation is A/B and it is on a/an
i) A/B square, then.....................................................+2
ii) A/A, B/B, A/C, or B/C square, then...................................+1
iii) C/C square, then.....................................................+0
d) If an item's color designation is A/A and it is on a/an
i) A/A square, then.....................................................+2
ii) A/B or A/C square, then..............................................+1
iii) B/B, C/C, B/C square, then...........................................+0
Question 2
If the item takes up multiple spaces, then simply repeat Question 1 for each
square that the item occupies.
Question 3
If an item is also Lucky, then............................................+1
II. Then, you simply need to sum the individual Feng Shui Scores to determine
your overall Feng Shui Score.
Example Calculations
Scenario 1
Let's say we have a Treasure Chest on a G/G square. Because the Treasure Chest
is Y/G, we get +1. Furthermore, it is Lucky, so the Treasure Chest's Feng Shui
Score is +2.
Scenario 2
Let's say we also have a Clothes Closet on a Y/Y square. The Clothes Closet is
Y/Y, so we get +2.
Scenario 3
Now, let's say we have a Classic Sofa on two Y/Y squares. The Classic Sofa is
Y/Y, so we get +2 for each square for a total of +4.
Scenario 4
Finally, let's say we have a Blue Table on four Y/Y squares. Furthermore, we've
placed a Fish Trophy on top of the table. Thus, the Fishing Trophy also
occupies a Y/Y square. The Blue Table is Y, so we get +4. The Fish Trophy is
Y/Y, so we get +2. Thus, for these two items,
we have a total of +6!
The overall Feng Shui score is then +14.
=====FENG SHUI AND HRA=========================================================
You can use the HRA scoring to ensure that you are practicing Feng Shui
appropriately. This is not a comprehensive guide to the HRA scoring system. The
way to use this section is to get your HRA score and then add one or a few
items to see how it affects your HRA score. You can do this easily by time
traveling back and forth from Saturday to Sunday. I've selected HRA bonuses
that I believe you can expect if you practice Feng Shui only. But there are
complex bonuses that you may earn. I will not put them here because they were
determined by users at animalxing.com, and if you are curious, you should go
there to see their information.

V. FAQS
=================================
Q: My Nintendo Power Official Player's Guide lists some items as having a X2
Feng Shui effect. What does this mean?
A: Nintendo Power took a shortcut by listing items with two of the same colors
as X2.
Q: If all items are given two colors, why are some of your items listed as Y,
R, or G?
A: These items do have a second color, but the second color is not R, Y, or G
and is thus not relevant to Feng Shui.
Q: If I place an item on a table that is covering a Feng Shui square, will I
still get the Feng Shui bonus for the item that is on top of the table?
A: Yep.
Q: Can I practice Feng Shui in my other rooms once I've obtained the final
expansion?
A: Yes, but see Section VI.
Q: Does the color of my wallpaper and flooring affect my Feng Shui?
A: No.
Q: Do you get the Feng Shui bonus for duplicate items?
Yes. I say this because the Japanese guides show quite clearly that you get a
Feng Shui bonus when using the same items. However, I'm still open to evidence
against this because guides aren't always correct.
=================================
VI. CURRENT CONTROVERSIES
=================================
This section deals with unresolved issues related to Feng Shui.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to contact me about this with their ideas
and tests.
Issue #1
Do the Ivory Piano and Big Festive Tree give you +4 Feng Shui because they are
Lucky and occupy 4 spaces?
There is probably no definitive way to determine this, so I recommend you do
not use these items.
Issue #2
What specific effects are there in relation to a high Feng Shui?
One suspected effect is an increased chance that money trees bear money, but
user Poodog54 says he has planted 8 money trees with 99k bells and has a Feng
Shui score of +98, but none of those trees have sprouted money bags. I would
suggest skewing Feng Shui towards Yellow and Green.
Issue #3
Do the different colors of Feng Shui have different effects?
Yellow affects money, while Green and Red affect items. In the GCN version, it
was thought that Yellow and Green affected both money and items, while Red only
affected items.

VII. BEST ARRANGEMENTS
=================================
I've had two users contact me with their ideas for a great Feng Shui layout.
Several users have told me that a room can have at most 24 of its spaces
occupied by items, regardless of how many items are on top of tables.
I'm ignoring HRA considerations for the sake of maximum Feng Shui. And I'm
going to ignore doorways for now since blocking them does not affect your Feng
Shui.

Place Daffodil Tables in the squares marked DT with Glow Clocks on top of them.
