II. Introduction
================
-*-
Most of us remember the previous Animal Crossing experience with an item
called a 'Diary' in the game. Unfortunately this little gem was left out in
Animal Crossing: Wild World - thus making the in-game holidays and events an
unknown day to look forward too.
I had always felt quite lost when asking about certain holidays. The fact
that I live somewhere that is one day ahead of most players did not make things
easier. As many didn't know what the event I was talking about, and by the
time they had experienced them - it was one day too late for me. Thus I decided
to create a small guide to help provide some insight to others regarding the
exciting events held within this game...
The events/holidays are quite different than the previous Animal Crossing
game, that is: many of the real-life holidays are no longer available. Also,
events of the same nature may be found over different months - it's not a
mistake. It just gives everyone (new players, especially) a chance to
experience certain holidays without waiting an entire year. It also gives you
the chance to win competitions with different species through the four seasons.
Anyway, enough rambling. I hope you find this Guide of some use - enjoy
Animal Crossing: Wild World!
- Krystal M.

III. The Guide

I have set up the guide as follows:
When: The exact day/week the holiday/event starts - regardless of year.
Starts: What time the holiday/event beings.
Ends: What time it finishes.
Mayor: Whether Tortimer is outside the town hall on the holiday/event.
Gift: Whether you receive an item from the holiday/event.

love and health advice to heart :)
Tips
------
- Speak to Tortimer multiple times for different fortunes.
-*- La-Di-Day
=================
When: 2nd Saturday in January
Starts: 6am
Ends: 6pm the next day
Mayor: No

Today you can choose a new town tune by speaking to your villagers. If you

you throughout the day, so don't feel compelled to choose just one song.
-*- Fishing Tournament
==========================
When: 3rd Sunday in January
Starts: 12pm
Ends: 6pm
Mayor: Yes
Gift: Each time you beat your personal record, and if overall winner of the

measured - the largest fish (length-wise) will win. If you beat your
personal record, you will receive an item of furniture. If you’re the overall
winner, you will also receive the Fish Trophy - which is mailed to you. The
winners name will be posted on the town bulletin board the next day.
Tips
------
- If you do not have a Fishing Rod, simply talk to Tortimer and you

-*- Flea Market
==================
When: 1st Saturday in February
Starts: 6am
Ends: 6am the next day

Tips

- Put away any valuables you may have in your home the day BEFORE the
flea market to save time.
- Villagers may pay approx. 3 times the sales price for items. This is
directly dependant on how good your relationship is with your villager. That

- Normally, villagers will only buy 3 items. However, if your house has
been upgraded to at least stage 3, simply keep moving to another room and
back again. Your villager will continue the shopping spree.

-*- Acorn Festival
=====================
When: Second week of October
Starts: 6am Monday
Ends: Sunday
Mayor: Yes
Gift: Pieces of the Mush furniture set & fortune.
The Acorn Festival is the only time you can score pieces to the rare Mush
furniture set. Gather acorns each day beneath non-fruit bearing trees and
give them to Cornimer. He will add it to your cumulative total each day. At the
increments of: 5, 10, 25, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 170, 200 and 230 he will
give you a piece of the Mush set.
If you give Cornimer more than one load of acorns in one day, he will also give
you a fortune - this is the only opportunity you get to add Tortimer Paper to
your catalog.
Tips
------
- Make sure you DO NOT have any Rotten acorns in your inventory when talking
to Cornimer. He will take them and any other acorns you are holding, but
will NOT add any them to your total count!
- Acorns can only be found under Non-fruit bearing trees - Cedar trees do NOT
count. Acorns are randomly generated though, so not all trees will have
them.
- Clear away any weeds/flowers/items you may have under your trees, as acorns
will only appear if the ground beneath the tree is clear. (Basically, the
acorns will appear in the same place as if you were shaking a fruit tree).
- Sell/recycle any rotten acorns that are lying around, as they will prevent
new acorns from generating in that spot.
- This is a week long event, thus no special visitors will be arriving in your
town EXCEPT for K.K. Slider and Crazy Redd, whom will appear on their
designated days.

-*- Flea Market
==================
When: 1st Saturday in December
Starts: 6am
Ends: 6am the next day
Mayor: No
Gift: None
The flea market is a great day to go shopping! Visit your villager's homes
to get a chance to buy some of their items. Villagers will also visit your
home if you are at home, that is) to buy any items you have on display. Each
villager will only come over ONCE*** - so use this time wisely for haggling.
Tips
------
- Put away any valuables you may have in your home the day BEFORE the
flea market to save time.
- Villagers may pay approx. 3 times the sales price for items. This is
directly dependant on how good your relationship is with your villager. That
is: Better relationship = Higher purchase price.
- Normally, villagers will only buy 3 items. However, if your house has
been upgraded to at least stage 3, simply keep moving to another room and
back again. Your villager will continue the shopping spree.
- Villagers who are sick or moving will not participate in the Flea Market.
*** Villagers will visit your home for each character created. That is, one
character = one visit per villager. Using 2 characters = two visits etc.
-*- Fishing Tournament
==========================

previously, in the competition. Take the fish you have to Tortimer to be
measured - the largest fish (length-wise) will win. If you beat your
personal record, you will receive an item of furniture. If you’re the overall
winner, you will also receive the Fish Trophy - which is mailed to you. The
winners name will be posted on the town bulletin board the next day.
Tips
------
- If you do not have a Fishing Rod, simply talk to Tortimer and you
will receive a free one.
-*-New Year's Eve

If you can confirm or deny any information in this section - I'd appreciate
it if you could let me know. Just email me your results, or contact me for
further info. Credit will be given always :)
* Fishing Tourney Tip:
Submitted by Goldenfan
---------------------
Status = Not confirmed.
If you open your town gates during the Tourney, it will stop your villagers
from participating. Thus you can win with any size fish.
* Fishing Tourney Tip:
---------------------
Status = Not confirmed.
If you are the current record holder, speak to Tortimer and
don't finish the conversation. Just leave the game alone until tourney is
over. This ensures no one will get a larger fish than you.
* Bright Nights Tip:
-------------------
Status = Not confirmed.
Each time you vote for a villager for the winner of Bright Nights, your
relationship with them will increase.

V. Frequent Asked Questions
===========================
-*-
Q: What does it matter if the Mayor is present or not?
A: Should you be aiming for the illusive Golden Axe, you need to speak to
Tortimer at some point. Thus the only times you can do that is on certain
events. This information was especially frustrating to find when I was
trying to obtain the axe - so I've added it in :)
Q: Your guide said something, then you changed it!? You lied!
A: When I receive new information or something that contradicts what is
already stated - I update this guide so you may benefit from it. After all,
would you prefer information that isn't correct - or know the truth? Go with
the flow, accept the changes and move on :)
Q: Something is incorrect...?
A: We all make mistakes :) Feel free to email me the correction and I'll
check it out.
Q: I've got some information that you haven't added...?
A: Send it to me. I hope to keep improving this guide, so every bit of
information counts. If it is helpful and relevant, I'll throw it in (with
credit for you, of course).
Q: How can I contact you?
A: Email will be fine:
[email protected]. (Please don't
forget to remove the 'REMOVETHIS' before emailing and make sure your subject
heading says Animal Crossing Event guide or something along that line...)
