Play Modes
************************************************

Arcade:
Play against the computer in a series of matches. It's possible to have special
opponents along the way to the boss. I won't bother listing how this is done in this
FAQ since it's written so eloquently in ruyeyama's Secrets FAQ which is available at
www.gamefaqs.com.

Versus:
Play against a friend (or the computer) in a single match. Keep track of wins/losses
and other exciting info.

Training:
Practice moves and combos out on a dummy character. You cannot win or lose in this
mode, and the dummy cannot be killed.

Mode Select
************************************************

Before choosing your character you must choose your mode of play (except in Training
Mode where you're always in Savior mode). This determines the basic rules for the
fight.

Vampire:
-When you attack an opponent, all damage is permanent.
-When you defeat the opponent in a round, you do a winning pose and in the next round
both players have a full life bar again and an empty EX bar.
-Your EX bar slowly depletes when you aren't doing anything. Once the bar fills it
depletes until it is empty or until you do a special move or EX move at which point it
empties completely. If you do a special move, you'll do the ES version of the move.

Hunter:
-When you attack an opponent, all damage is permanent.
-When you defeat the opponent in a round, you do a winning pose and in the next round
both players have a full life bar again and your EX bar carries over.
-Your EX bar can charge up to level 99 and does not deplete due to time. You can do
and ES or EX move whenever you have at least a level 1 bar unless the EX move states
otherwise.

Savior:
-When you attack an opponent, certain "flashing" damage can be recovered if you do
not hit the opponent after a few seconds.
-When you defeat the opponent, battle immediately resumes with the opponent getting
a full new life bar and yours remaining the same. Both EX bars remain the same.
-Your EX bar can charge up to level 99 and does not deplete due to time. You can do
and ES or EX move whenever you have at least a level 1 bar unless the EX move states
otherwise.

         Just pressing up causes him to float on one plane where he can move forward
         or backward. Pressing up again causes him to go to a higher plane.

         A triple jump.
(X,O,O,O) Warp: dash towards edge of screen at edge of screen.
         Reappears on the other side of the screen.

         Crawls into sarcophagus and a mini thing runs out.
(X,X,O,O) Special Friendship: Hold PPP, A + Start
         Crawls into sarcophagus and a large procession comes out to goofy chanting.

         Consume a fireball to be released at a later date.

         Vomit out a previously consumed fireball.

         Shoot spiritual stuff to turn opponent into a small thing that can't block.

         One of several goofy EX Moves where he turns the opponent into different
         forms then squashes them with a sarcophagus.
(X,O,X,O) Pharoah Split: LP, LP, d, MK, HK (can be done in air)
         His body splits in half. You control the top which floats around and hurts
         stuff while the bottom kinda walks around and kicks.
(X,O,O,O) Naraku no Ana: b, db, d, df, f + KK
         A pit appears slightly in front of him and it throws the opponent up into
         the air for an unpleasent landing.
(X,X,O,O) Pharoah Salvation: HK, MP, d, MK, HP
         (level 2 bar required, can be done in air)
         15 hit mega-goofy EX Move.
(X,X,O,O) Pharoah Decoration: HK, MP, LK, d, LP, MK, HP
         (level 3 bar required, can be done in air)
         8 hit uber-goofy EX Move.
(X,X,X,O) Shinjitsu no Oshie: f, d, df + PP (while guarding)
         Catch the opponent in a sarcophagus that turns them to their weak form.
(X,X,O,X) Pharoah Split: press any two same strength buttons together
         Dark Force. Splits in half. You control upper body.

         Slam the opponent using your tongue.
(X,O,O,O) Cataract Cry: u or d + MP or HP (air throw)
         Throws opponent straight down.
(X,X,O,O) Friendship: A + Start
         Pulls his tongue and water shoots out of his head. Easily the single
         greatest thing in any fighting game ever.

Special Moves:

(E,X,X,X) Poison Breath: b, db, d, df, f + K
(X,E,X,X) Poison Breath: d, df, f + K
(X,X,E,E) Poison Breath: ch.b, f + K
         Shoot out a cloud of poison that keeps the opponent stunned for a second.

         A quick screw attack across the screen.
(E,E,E,E) Trick Fish: K while back dashing.
(X,X,E,E) Trick Fish: f, d, df + K (can Guard Cancel)
         Screw attack at an upward arc.
(E,E,X,X) Sonic Wave: d, df, f + P (can Guard Cancel)
(X,X,E,E) Sonic Wave: ch.b, f + P
         Shoots out rings of sound that stun the opponent for a second.
(E,E,E,E) Crystal Lancer: f, df, d, db, b + MP or HP (close)
         Jumps up w/ opponent attached to tongue and kicks them a few times.
(E,E,E,E) Gem's Anger: f, df, d, db, b + MK or HK (close)
         Tosses opponent up in the air and hides inside a shell that shoots out
         several pearls at them.

EX Moves:

(O,X,X,X) Aqua Spread: f, df, d + PPP or KKK
(X,O,O,O) Aqua Spread: f, df, d + PP or KK
         Sends a little ripple of water along the ground and if it touches the
         opponent it'll launch them way into the air.
(X,O,O,O) Sea Rage: b, db, d, df, f + PP
         A large amount of water traverses the screen to hit the opponent.
(X,O,O,O) Water Jail: f, d, df + PP
         Shoots out a bubble that traps the opponent if it connects and does a
         hefty amount of damage in the process.
(X,O,O,O) Direct Scissors: d, d + PP (requires level 3 bar)
         Cuts at the legs of the opponent. For reasons beyond my comprehension,
         this move only works when you're using the basic Aulbath color (select
         him with LP).....
(X,X,O,X) Riverside Drop: press any two same strength buttons together.
         Dark Force. Ride on a fish thing. Really stupid.

         Holds his hand in front of his face and says either "Gomen" or "Korosu"

Special Moves:

(E,E,E,E) Kienzan: f, d, df + P (can Guard Cancel in all but Vampire)
         Typical Dragon Punch maneuver. However, I can only pull this move off
         immediately after landing from a jump for some reason....
(O,E,X,X) Hane Ha: b, db, d, df, f + P
         Impales opponent with his sword and stuns them. Can be followed up.
(X,X,E,E) Karame Tamashii: b, db, d, df, f + P
         Possesses the opponent with a spirit and stuns them. Can be followed up.
(O,E,E,E) Tsuji Hayate: d, df, f + P (during Hane Ha or Karame Tamashii)
         Run at the opponent and slash them twice.
(O,X,X,X) Kaeshi Ha: d, db, b + P (during Hane Ha)

         Yank the opponent towards you.

         Slides a board on the ground. If it connects, the opponent is put onto the
         board and huge blocks are dropped on their knees. OUCH!

(X,X,O,X) Kyouka Yoroi: Kogane Katabira
         Dark Force. Golden Armor causes you to only take the permanent damage from
         moves and not the added on flashing damage.

         Bulleta and her band of cool hunters shoot the mess out of opponent.

         Bulleta grabs opponent, slaps 'em, throws 'em into a pool of tears, and
         makes them feel really bad about themselves.

         Gives the opponent an exploding apple of doom!!!!

         An exploding doll walks across the screen.

         Dimitri turns into a lot of bats and goes about half screen, reeking

         Turns the opponent into a woman and sucks the life out of her.

         Opponent floats up and slams into the ground.

         Points at opponent and mumbles stuff.

(E,E,X,X) Kill Shred (Katana o Hanasu): press any two same strength buttons together
(X,X,E,E) Kill Shred (Katana o Hanasu): d, db, b + K
         Plants his sword into the ground.
(O,O,X,X) Kill Shred (Katana o Modosu):
         press any two same strength buttons together after Katana o Hanasu.
(X,X,O,O) Kill Shred (Katana o Modosu): d, db, b + K after Katana o Hanasu.
         Sword returns to him, usually cutting opponent in the process.
(X,X,E,E) Kill Shred (Katana o Rakurai): d, db, b + P after Katana o Hanasu.
         Lightning strikes the sword.

         Spirit of Ifreet does an upward sweeping flaming sword attack.

         An ice spirit shoots out a crystal snowflake that freezes the opponent.

         A lightning spirit shoots out a massive amount of electricity in front of

         A spirit stomps down from high above. Think Monty Python.

         A spirit takes over his body and flies straight forward at the opponent.

         Sword flies toward opponent every time Donovan attacks.

         Sit atop opponent's head until they move or you jump off. Really cute!
(O,O,O,O) Wall Clutch: hold towards wall when next to wall.
         Grab onto the wall for a few seconds.
(X,O,O,O) Dash Chuudan: b while dashing
         Stop the dash.
(O,O,O,O) Panic Nail: f or b + MP or HP (throw)
         Hops on the opponent and slashes their face repeatedly.

         Flips over and launches the opponent across the screen.

         Flips and chunks the opponent away.

         Sniffs the ground and makes a cute noise.

         Kick up some sand that hits from about half screen away.

         Roll into a ball and spin towards the opponent. Press P to cancel into
         an uppercut-slash.

         Roll into a ball and bounce towards the opponent.

Play as Shadow:
To play as Shadow, highlight the random select block while choosing your character.
Press the Start button five times then press any button. Your random character should
have a huge shadow behind him/her. Whenever you win a battle, Shadow takes over the
defeated opponent and you'll use that character in the next fight.

Play as Marionette:
To play as Marionette, highlight the random select block while choosing your character.
Press the Start button seven times then press any button. You should see Marionette
as your character. At the beginning of every fight, Marionette will take over the body
of a lifeless doppelganger of your opponent.

Play as Oboro Bishamon:
To play as Oboro Bishamon, highlight Bishamon and choose him while holding Start. Oboro
Bishamon is similiar to regular Bishamon with a few added moves.

Alternate Backgrounds:
When selecting your stage in Versus Mode, hold down the start button to alter the
color of the stage when you play.

Select Win Pose:
Hold down any of the six attack buttons after winning a fight to select which of your
win poses you want to see. See Omake section for a list of winning poses.

Winning Pose List:

Hold down the proper button after winning to see the pose of your choice.

-Anakaris:
LP: Holds his arms up and mumbles stuff.
MP: Turns to screen, holds arms out and mumbles stuff.
HP: Turns to screen, folds arms and mumbles stuff.
LK: Play a coin catching game as a little midget. The coolest thing of all time.
MK: Same as LP
HK: Same as MP

-Aulbath:
LP: Turns to screen and his fins wiggle around.
MP: Jumps back and sits on a lily pad.
HP: Hops back and sits on a quick assembling stack of pearls.

LP: Turns away from the screen as his sword takes its place on his back.

-Demitri:
LP: Bows and taunts.
MP: Laughs with a glowing aura about him.
HP: Three cloaked ladies walk out and Demitri turns towards them and says something.

-Donovan:
LP: Swords floats into the air then buries itself into the ground.
MP: His hat flies onto the screen and his balls on his outfit come off and float
    around him as he does a rather goofy pose.

-Felicia:
LP: Turns into a tiny cat and meows.
MP: Yawns and catches a bird as it flies by.

MK: Rubs her eyes as a mouse appears. She leaps, picks it up and looks at it.

MP: Backflips then howls while shaking violently.
