I do not profess to be fluent in Japanese. I was neither born in Japan nor
have I ever been there. I have had very little formal schooling in
Japanese; what Japanese I do know is a result of intensive self-study over
the past few years. None of the translation work I have ever done has ever
been for profit; all such projects were done due to my own personal interest
or requests from friends. In short, I am not a professional translator.
Furthermore, none of my work is authorized by SEGA, RED, or any other
company. I am doing this merely as a service to fans who will probably ever

あたしたちの米田支配人が死んじゃうなんて……絶対、ないですよね！？

……とにかく、急ごう。今は、一刻を争う時だ。
.....Anyway, let's hurry. Right now, we don't have a moment to lose.
(一刻を争う時 Ikkoku wo arasou toki - 一刻 'Ikkoku' is translated as 'a
moment' or 'an instant.' Arasou (争う) means 'to compete with.' Toki (時)
is 'time.' Thus, 'Right now is a time of competing against a moment,'
literally, I guess. From that comes my translation above. I could be
wrong, of course......)

(Genki (元気), which I have previously mentioned, rears its all-purpose
head yet again for the majority of the following conversation. I
originally translated 'genki wo dashite' as 'be happy' (literally, 'to give
out 'genki''), but decided to change it to 'cheer up' thanks to an e-mail
suggestion as this is a commonly used translation and just sounds better.)
米田支配人は、死んだりしないよ。必ず、元気に戻って来るさ。
Manager Yoneda won't die. He'll come back healthy without fail.

アイリス
……ホント？
.....Really?

大神
ああ、本当さ。
Yes, really.

さくら
よかったわね、アイリス。大神さんが言うことですもの、間違いないわよ。

It appears to mean 'Nine Seal Mandala.' 'Mandala' (or 'mandara,' if you
prefer) is the actual reading for the last three kanji, used for this
loanword which carries the same meaning it has when used in English.

(While we're talking about wolves here, I'd just like to point out that the

the wolf throughout ST2. Furthermore, 'ookami' uses a double 'o' (おお) as
opposed to the much more common 'ou' (おう - of course, this is because 'ou'
is used in almost all kanji on'yomi that have a long 'ou' sound, and 'oo'
is only used in kun'yomi, but that's beside the point, and I'm rambling),
and the original reading for the second kanji in Oogami's name (神) is
'kami' (the consonant change a result of following the 'Oo' (大)) and - and
okay, I'll shut up now.)
