(Those of you who have played the first Sakura Taisen may remember that when
Oogami first met Sakura in Ueno park, he would say 'As for myself...' (自分は
Jibun wa) to refer to himself rather than a more direct first person pronoun.
I would imagine this is thus more self-humbling, and from this statement I
would guess this was what was taught in the Japanese military.)

さくら
……あ、そ、そうだタケシくんは、今、どうしてるの？
.....Ah, tha- that's right - Takeshi-kun, what are you doing now?

君……小さい頃雷にうたれたんじゃ？
Weren't you......struck by lightning when you were little?

タケシ
あははは！さくらから、そんなことまでお聞きになったんですか。
Ahahaha! So you've even heard that much from Sakura.
あの時、雷にうたれて大騒ぎになったんですけど命だけはとりとめました。

(東北 Touhoku - Literally 'Northeastern,' although I believe the actual
University itself is referred to as 'Touhoku.' Of course this may not be the
same university. At any rate, the Touhoku University I found did not include
the word 'Teikoku' in the name.)
雷にうたれた僕も、お医者さんのおかげで助かることができました。
Even I, struck by lightning, was able to be saved thanks to a doctor.
その時から、人の命を助ける仕事につきたいと思ってたんです。
Ever since then, I've always thought I'd like a job helping people.
