++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1.1- For those new to the LoK series
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This game is the 2nd in the series "Legacy of Kain."  The first game is
called "Blood Omen" and focuses around Kain, Raziel's nemesis.  There is
some information that you missed if you didn't play it and I will
attempt to catch you up on the neat little tidbits of information.
These are major spoilers for the first game so please don't read (better
yet, don't play this game) until you beat Blood Omen.  I will not note
anything that is in either Soul Reaver 2 or Blood Omen 2, go play those
for yourself!

NOSGOTH
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The land where all of the LoK games take place; there is not mention of
anything beyond Nosgoth so we can assume it is a wasteland of little
interest uninhabited by life.

KAIN
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main character in the series, although you only play as him in Blood
Omen.  He was originally a human nobleman but was slain as part of a
plot.  In death, the Necromancer (Mortanius) offers Kain revenge... for
a price.  Kain accepts and is transformed into a vampire as a result.

MORTANIUS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Only appears in Blood Omen.  He represented one of the nine Pillars of
Nosgoth and took part in a plot to corrupt the pillars and gain control
of Nosgoth.

PILLARS OF NOSGOTH
------------------------------------------------------------------------
These pillars represent the condition of Nosgoth; if they decay, so does
Nosgoth.  Each pillar is represented by a person; if the person becomes
corrupted, so does the pillar.  Kain's duty in Blood Omen was to restore
balance to all of the pillars by killing each of it's representatives,
afterwards he was promised a "cure" to his vampirism.

MOEBIUS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also known as the Time Streamer; he also represented one of the nine
Pillars of Nosgoth and has the ability to travel through time.

NUPRAPTOR'S KEEP
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nupraptor represented the Pillar of the Mind and corrupted the rest of
the pillars after he went crazy due to his wife's, Ariel, death.  His
keep sat on top of a mountain in the shape of a skull and is shown in
Soul Reaver in ruins.

ARIEL
------------------------------------------------------------------------
She represented the Pillar of Balance and was slain by Mortanius to set
in motion a chain of events the led to the demise of Nosgoth and the
ascension of Kain's empire.  She still haunts the pillars, a spectre
with no hope of ever restoring Nosgoth.

REDEMPTION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(The following is an introduction to Soul Reaver and is not my original
work)

DARK GODS
A millenium has passed since Lord Kain set his capital in the ruins of
the Pillars of Nosgoth and began his conquest of the world.  His first
act was to recruit a cadre.  Dipping into the underworld, Kain snared
six souls and thus birthed his lietenants, of which I, Raziel was one.
We, in turn, prowled the twilight of purgatory building six legions of
vampires to pillage Nosgoth.

The destruction of the major human Kingdoms was inevitable.  Within a
hundred years, humanity had been thoroughly domesticated.  To be sure,
there remained some feral humans scattered across the hinterlands,
clinging to their hopeless holy war to rid Nosgoth of "the vampire
scourge."  They were tolerated.  They made existance for the fledglings
more challenging.

After the taming of the humans, our real work began; shaping Nosgoth to
our will.  Around the pillars, slaves constructed a shrine worthy of our
new age, worthy of our dark renaissance.  Huge furnaces were built to
belch smoke into the sky, shielding the land from the poisonous effects
of the sun.  Never had the world known a time of such beauty.  However,
we grew bored.

We allowed the reamins of the legions, the lesser vampires, to have
their intrigues.  They provided amusement and spice to an increasingly
uninspired court.  As faction fell against faction we bet upon the
outcome.  We helped and foiled plots at our whim.  We were the Council
and Lord Kain, our only master.

RAZIEL
The humans think it is a poison of the blood that makes us what we are.
Fools, the blood only feeds the bodies we live in.  To create a vampire,
one must steal a soul from the abyss to reanimate the corpse.  It is the
body that demands the blood sacrifice; our soulds gain their advantage
from the powers of the underworld.

As we matured, our earthly bodies evolved into a higher form.  We
assumed the powers and nobility of the Dark Gods.  With each change, the
trivial affairs of vampires and man held less interest.

Always, it was Kain who would change first.  After the master had
experienced a new gift, one of us would follow in a decade or so.  That
is, until I had the audacity to evolve before my master.  I was gifted
with wings.  And for my impertinence I was damned.

THE ELDER
To us the touch of water is agony; it burns our flesh like acid.  My
punishment was to be cast into the Lake of the Dead, our execution
ground for traitors and weaklings.  As my brethren heaved me into the
air I could see the bemused expressions on their faces.  The transitory
thrill of something new.  Then the pain.  Melting, twisting, burning,
falling.  A new experience indeed.  Time.  I have no concept of how long
I fell.  Only that there was an end to the fall and through the pain I
heard the voice.  At first I thought it merely the echoes of my own
tortured mind, but I grew to understand that it was more.  Something
primal.  Something angry.  Something righteous.  Something ancient.

The Elder explained much to me.  It told me of creation, of death, of
souls and of hunger.  For eons the Elder fed upon the souls of Nosgoth.
The Kain's vampire dynasty deprived the Elder of sustenance.  For
centuries his hunger grew and festered in this place.

The Elder offered me a solution to my sorry existence - if I would stalk
the Material Plan, slaying my former brethren, then I would have the
chance to avenge myself against Kain.

How could one refuse such an offer?

1.3- Abilities
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

PHASING THROUGH GATES
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earned From: Melchia
Execution: While in Spectral Plane, push against a gate until Raziel
phases through it.

Description: This ability allows Raziel to phase through barriers such
as gates, grates, fences, etc.  Completely solid objects can not be
phased through.  It can only be used in the Spectral Plane.

SCALING WALLS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earned From: Zephon
Execution: Press X to jump on a scalable wall surface, move with the D-
Pad, press X again to jump off.

Description: While in the Material Plane, find a scalable wall (has
crevices for Raziel to attach to) and jump onto it.  While scaling,
Raziel cannot engage in combat.

FORCE PROJECTILES
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earned From: Morlock
Execution: Hold TRIANGLE and the projectile will start forming.  You can
aim by holding L2 + R2 and using the D-Pad.  Let go of TRIANGLE to
release the projectile.

Description: Force Projectiles can be used while not equipped with any
weapon.  This will shove back enemies and objects or break items like
windows.  The actual projectile doesn't do very much damage.

SWIMMING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earned From: Rahab
Execution: Hold X to swim at a constant speed.  Repeatedly tap X to swim
quickly.  Hold R1 while swimming to turn with more precision.  Press L1
then X to leap out of the water.

Description: Swimming protects Raziel from immediately entering the
Spectral Plane upon immersion in water.  Combative techniques are
limited and Raziel is more easily damaged.  Swimming allows Raziel to
reach new areas that previously were unavailable to him.

CONSTRICTING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earned From: Dumah
Execution: Circle around an object or enemy.  After one revolution,
Raziel will begin to trail a band of energy.  After two revolutions and
the object or enemy will constrict.

Description:  This skill is almost completely useless to use as a weapon
on enemies; however, it is vital to solve some puzzles.  You are unable
to constrict objects in the Spectral Plane.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1.4- Codes and Secrets
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Have Humans Worship Raziel
------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the Necropolis chapter you will encounter a human bounty hunter.
Do not harm him in any way; simply jump over him.  In fact, never harm
any human.  The next human you encounter, and any there-after should
then get on their knees and begin to worship you as their savior from
the vampires.  I've been told you can kill them with Glyphs and they
will still worship you but you cannot hit them directly.  This is very
useful when going to the Human Citadel as they will offer no resistance.

1.5- Storyline
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This is a summary of all note-worthy events that take place in Soul
Reaver.  This is very spoiler-heavy (obviously) and I strongly suggest
skipping over this part.  I have marked this entire section with an
asterix (*) aligned in the left column.  Simply scroll down until you no
longer see any.  This is for your benefit so you don't even have to
glance at anything for risk of having something spoiled.  Also, if you
are looking for a much more in-depth look at the storyline check out
Nemesis300's excellent game script hosted at (where else?) GameFAQs.

* <<INTRODUCTION>>
*
* The game opens at the ruined Pillars of Nosgoth, where Kain has made
* his throne out of the Pillar of Balance.  The leaders of the clans,
* Kain's lieutanents, stand around the pillars while Raziel enters.  He
* kneels before his master, who sits on the throne, and reveils his new
* evolution- the gift of wings.  Kain shows a glimpse of surprise and
* walks over to Raziel to inspect him, who has surpassed Kain in the
* evolutionary process of vampires.
*
* In anger and jealousy, Kain rips the wings from Raziel, leaving him
* ruined.  Raziel's brothers then drag him to the Lake of the Dead, a
* fiery hell for the weak.  He is then thrown in by order of Kain and
* killed in the torment of the acid-like water.  Without a sense of
* time, Raziel suddenly awakes from his death, horribly changed from
* the burning.
*
*
* <<TRAINING>>
*
* A voice, known as the Elder, speaks to him.  He informs Raziel that
* he has been given a chance to redeem himself... or if he prefer,
* avenge himself.  The Elder wishes for Raziel to kill Kain and end
* his empire.  For the Elder is sustained by the souls of Nosgoth, and
* they can no longer complete their destinies as Kain has put a stop
* to life and death.  Raziel becomes the Elder's "soul reaver."
*
* The Elder introduces Raziel to the Warp Gates, to which he alone has
* access to in order to travel great distances.  Raziel becomes weak
* hunger.  However, it is not the old thirst for blood.  Raziel's
* immortal state requires much more.  It requires souls to devourer.
* Raziel continues through the Spectral Plane and encounters the first
* Planar Portal, where he manifests in the Material Plane.
*
* As Raziel travels on, he is completely shocked by how much time has
* passed and how many things have changed.  The fledgling vampires
* disgust him, and even the throne of Kain, the Sanctuary of the Clans,
* is in ruins.  Raziel travels onward, to the Lake of the Dead, where he
* becomes interested in how his own clan has been with his absense.
*
* <<NECROPOLIS>>
*
* Raziel ventures into his old territory to find that his entire clan
* was destroyed by Kain, probably immediately after his own demise.
* Raziel contiues to the next clan's territory, Melchia, the youngest
* brother.  Here, Raziel finds that the Melchahim vampires are now
* a weak race that can barely contain their own flesh.
*
* Raziel continues to find a large machine deep within the Melchahim
* clan.  After awhile, Raziel finds the entrance to his brother's
* lair.  He enters a circular room with a large blade and finds
* Melchia, former glorious vampire now turned into a monster with
* his flesh, like his offspring, barely contained.
*
* Melchia, evidently, had been expecting Raziel to come.  He informs
* Raziel that he is to die, by order of Kain.  He comes at Raziel,
* slowly, and chasing him and, using his ability to phase through
* gates, finds himself in the center of the room, a cage of some
* sort with a huge blade above.
*
* Raziel starts up the crank but asks Melchia, before he lets go,
* where he can find Kain.  Melchia says Kain makes his presence known
* when he sees fit.  Upon Melchia's gory death, he lets out one final
* sentence- "I am released."  Raziel consumes Melchia's soul and is
* informed by the Elder that he can now phase through gates and other
* such barriers.  Raziel then uses this new ability to exit from the
* depths of Melchia's lair.
*
* <<SANCTUARY OF THE CLANS>>
*
* Raziel, equipped with this new ability, breaches the fortress of the
* Sanctuary of the Clans and enters the Pillars of Nosgoth, Kain's
* throne.  Here he meets Kain and damns him for destroying his entire
* clan.  Raziel accuses Kain of having no conscience and Kain laughs in
* return.
*
* Kain explains that Raziel has no right to talk to him about conscience
* when the fate of the entire world had rested upon his decision.  He
* then tells Raziel that the once-glorious empire has been scattered and
* the Sanctuary of the Clans has outlived it's usefullness, as had
* Raziel.
*
* Kain pulls the Soul Reaver and starts teleporting and hitting Raziel
* with it's enormous energy.  Despite it instantly sending Raziel back
* to the Spectral Plane he simply comes back again and again to attack
* Kain.  After awhile Kain grows tired of this game and delivers the
* final blow to Raziel, but the blade breaks when it strikes Raziel.
*
* Kain, not surprised, simply says they are one step closer to their
* destinies and vanishes.  Raziel goes to the Spectral Plane where he
* acquires the Soul Reaver in it's true form- a wraith blade.  The Elder
* explains that from now on they will be bound- Soul Reaver and Reaver
* of Souls.
*
* Ariel, the former Guardian of the Pillar of Balance, reveils herself
* to Raziel.  She is not just a ghost eternally bound to the Pillars to
* watch.  She informs Raziel that Kain refused the sacrafice to restore
* Nosgoth; instead, he damned the world and corrupted the Pillar of
* Balance to it's core.  She offers advice to Raziel and he continues
* to his brother, Zephon.
*
* <<SILENCED CATHEDRAL>
*
* Through the mountains Raziel finds the cathedral, where the Zephonim
* Clan has retreated to in this dire time.  At the entrance to the
* actual cathedral, Raziel finds a Zephonim vampire cocooning a human,
* to be preserved and used later for it's blood.
*
* Upon entering the cathedral, Raziel tells that it used to be a holy
* weapon created by the humans during Kain's empire.  It's gigantic
* pipes would bellow a hymn deadly to vampires; however, Zephon and his
* brood forever silenced the cathedral.
*
* Raziel finds his way to the top of the cathedral to the very lair of
* Zephon, now a giant insect attached to the walls.  Zephon informs
* Raziel that the entire cathedral is now his body and he has missed
* many more changes throughout the land of Nosgoth.
*
* Raziel dodges Zephon's giant appendages that attempt to crush him and
* slices one of them in half.  Zephon gives out a great screech of pain
* and an egg is released from his eggsac at the base of his body.
* Raziel grabs the egg and brings it over to a torch, setting it aflame.
* He then throws the egg at Zephon and sets him on fire as well.
*
* As he is dying, Zephon screams out "die!" and attempts to crush Raziel
* with his giant body.  He fails and Raziel consumes his soul, which
* allows him to climb certain walls.  The Elder tells Raziel that there
* is an "ancient crime" reveiled beyond the pillars.  With Zephon's
* soul, Raziel is now able to go there.
*
* <<TOMB OF THE SARAFAN>>
*
* Raziel finds the entrance to the Tomb of the Sarafan and tells of a
* time of Vorador when the Sarafan murdered fledgling and ancient
* vampires alike.  The legendary protectors of the Sarafan were buried
* within the tomb, formerly without an entrance, but now Raziel could
* see what the Elder spoke of.
*
* Upon entering the tomb, the Elder warns Raziel to "know thyself,
* although it might destroy you."  Raziel ventures far into the tomb
* and moves a block that sealed the crypts of the Sarafan Saints for
* centuries.  Inside, Raziel is horrified that the tombs hold the names
* of his brothers and even himself!
*
* The Elder explains that Kain, the self-proclaimed monarch of Nosgoth,
* defiled the tombs and breathed the vampiric gift into each of Raziel's
* brothers and raised them as his sons- lietanaunts of the Empire.
* Enraged, Raziel continues through the crypts towards the Drowned
* Abbey.
*
* <<DROWNED ABBEY>>
*
* Upon reaching the Drowned Abbey, the Elder explains it used to be a
* santuary for the humans until Rahab and his brood infiltrated it.  Now
* flooded, the snake-like vampires infest the waters.  Although they are
* able to swim, they are devastated by sunlight like the fledgling
* vampires.
*
* Raziel makes his way to the tower that holds his aquatic brother,
* Rahab.  Upon finding Raziel, Rahab says Kain warned him Raziel would
* kill him.  Raziel confirms this but firsts asks if Rahab knew what
* they all were before being turned to vampires.  Raziel explains they
* used to be Sarafan and Rahab says it makes no difference, only that
* Kain saved them when they were lost.
*
* Raziel destroys the windows, pouring sunlight on Rahab and killing
* him, thus absorbing his ability to swim.  The Elder confirms this and
* informs Raziel he is now able to reach many places he was not before.
*
* <<RUINS OF THE DUMAHIM>>
*
* Raziel finds the entrance to the vampire city of the Dumahim clan.
* It is in ruins with many of the Damhim vampires killed lying in the
* snow.  He wonders whether Kain killed Dumah's clan like he did to
* Raziel.  The Elder informs Raziel that Dumah and his clan were killed
* by humans.  They were once the strongest clan but, in their arrogance,
* didn't even see the attack coming.
*
* Raziel finds his way into the throne room of Dumah, finding him
* impaled with several human spears.  He removes all of the, reviving
* Dumah.  Dumah thanks his brother but Raziel explains he is here to
* kill him, saying he has not forgotten who cast him into the Abyss.
* Dumah says his strength is greater than any vampire and not even Kain
* is his equal.
*
* He begins to chase Raziel back through the ruins.  Raziel lures him to
* the furnace on the other side and quickly turns on the gas and flame,
* causing Dumah to catch fire and die for good.  Raziel absorbs his soul
* and the Elder explains he can constrict items in both the Spectral and
* Material Planes.
*
* <<ORACLE CAVES AND CHRONOPLAST>>
*
* Travelling to the Oracle's Cave, Raziel explains how the Oracle used
* give enigmatic predictions.  However, the Oracle was also a person
* known as Moebius the Timestreamer, sorceror of the Circle of Nine.  He
* had the power to travel through time and was a ruthless manipulator.
* It was also rumored this place was a facade and housed a much more
* important and elaborate structure.
*
* Finding the secret entrance into this secret device, Raziel goes deep
* down to find a series of portals, showing different scenes of Raziel's
* quest.  The first of which shows Raziel awakening at the bottom of the
* Lake of the Dead.  Raziel, confused, has it explained by the Elder
* that these portals are glimpses into time.
*
* Continuing down, Raziel sees Kain strike Raziel with the Soul Reaver,
* destroying it and turning it into the wraith blade.  Raziel worries
* if this has all been foretold.  Down further, he sees the scene where
* he discovered he and his brothers were part of the Serafan.  He yells
* that these scenes must be one of Kain's deceptions.  Yet another
* portal shows Raziel facing Kain at the bottom of the Chronoplast.
*
* Raziel wonders if Kain is awaiting for this to happen moments from
* now.  Another portal shows Raziel striking down Ariel to form a new
* yellow Soul Reaver.  It has yet to come, yet Raziel believes they are
* all lies.  A final portal shows Raziel with a blood-red Soul Reaver.
* He wonders if this could possible be true or just an 'echo of the
* mind'.
*
* Entering the chamber of the Chronoplast, Raziel finds Kain.  Kain
* asks if it bothered Raziel to kill his brothers.  Raziel exclaims it
* is all lies and he could not have foreseen all of this.  Kain
* explains the futures of everyone are predestined and that free-will
* is an illusion.  Enraged, Raziel jumps down to confront Kain but he
* vanishes to a higher tier.
*
* Raziel hits Kain again and again with the Soul Reaver but Kain
* continues to adjust the Chronoplast machine until he stands at a
* portal into time.  He explains this is not where or how it shall end
* and he then escapes into the portal.  Raziel stops and the Elder
* explains if he enters the Elder cannot insure his immortality.
* Raziel enters and out of blackness Moebius appears and welcomes him
* to 'his destiny'.  Credits roll with Moebius reciting:
*
*                      WHERE TIME IS BUT A LOOP
*                A LOOSE STITCH IN THE UNIVERSAL CLOTH,
*           A STREMER MIGHT SEIZE UPON A CHANCE, A FATAL SLIP-
*              AND PLUNGE THE FATE OF PLANETS INTO CHAOS...

PLANAR PORTAL
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The blue magic circles that can be found only in the Spectral Plane.
These are used to shift from the Spectral Plane to the Material Plane if
Raziel has full health.

MATERIAL PLANE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Material Plane consists of all things that are living.  Raziel loses
health constantly while in this plane of existance.  He must constantly
consume souls to restore it or fall back into the Spectral Plane.  Below
is a list of attributes of the Material Plane.

Attributes
-Raziel can pick up weapons, open doors, activate levers, etc.
-Raziel can be burned by water (later, he can swim in it).
-Raziel can scale walls and use the Soul Reaver.
-Raziel can not phase through barriers such as fences, gates, etc.
-Enemies change accordingly
-Raziel can only switch to the Material Plane at designated planar
portals and at full health.

SPECTRAL PLANE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Spectral Plane consists of all things that are dead.  If Raziel
loses all of his energy in this plane he will be transported back to the
Elder (no penalty for dying).  He can restore energy here by killing
demons and such and consuming their forms.  Below is a list of

WARP GATES
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soul Reaver has portals as checkpoints throughout the game that act
somewhat as save-points (even though you can save anywhere) but mainly
as an easy way to travel throughout the land of Nosgoth.  It always
makes it very hard for me to explain how the listing works.  When
accessing the portals you see a symbol that represents the location;
however, I am not going to describe these.

In order to use this listing correctly, goto the Elder Gateway (switches
you to the Spectral Plane automatically, first gateway you encounter)
and then access the pictures of the warp gates.  Now go right the number
of times I have listed.  Remember this *only* works from the Elder Warp
Gate because the game skips over whatever gate you are currently at,
therefor I can't properly number them from any spot.

You can easily use this (I think) from any location by just skipping
over your location and discarding the Elder Warp Gate.  Of course, I am
constantly surprised by the stupidity of people so I'm doing this to
make it as easy as possible.  If you find this confusing then I'm sorry,
but I cannot be any more clear on this.

WARP GATE LISTING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
0- Lake of the Dead
1- Raziel's Clan
2- Melchahim Clan
3- Human Citadel
4- Silenced Cathedral
5- Zephon's Lair
6- Nupraptor's Keep
7- Tomb of the Sarafan
8- Drowned Abbey
9- Lighthouse
10- The Dumahim
11- Oracle Caves
12- Chronoplast

ELDRITCH ENERGY
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The energy which powers the magic of the Glyphs.  You can obtain
replacements for lost energy from some enemies, as well as in certain
locations.  There are 5 energy power-ups that can expand how much energy
Raziel may hold.  See Section 1.6 for more information.

HEALTH POWER-UPS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Health power-ups are found to expand Raziel's health coil in both the
Spectral and Material Planes.  However, unlike the Eldritch Power-Ups,
Raziel must obtain 5 Health Power-Ups before expanding the coil.  There
are a total of 15 Health Power-Ups found throughout the game.  See
Section 1.6 for more information.

SHIFTING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shifting refers to Raziel changing from the Material Plane to the
Spectral Plane or vice versa.  Read the instruction manual or scroll up
to the definations of these two planes in this same section to learn how
shifting is accomplished.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.1- Training
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

After the Elder is done speaking follow the instructions to walk forward
into the tunnel.  Continue until you come to a room where the Elder
informs you about the Warp Gates.  To activate this Warp Gate, and any
other Warp Gate, step on the center circle and it will glow.  This Warp
Gate is not in the listing, it is known as the Elder Warp Gate and will
automatically shift you back to the Spectral Plane.

Now continue walking down the next tunnel until you come to a room with
a green fountain.  The Elder explains about Raziel's new hunger, the
hunger for souls.  Hold down the CIRCLE button and a soul should start
floating your way and Raziel will devourer it.  Continue to do this
until your health coil is full and then proceed down the tunnel.

Here you must jump using the X button and high jump using L1 + X.
Continue around the ledges until you come to a chasm that seems
impossible to jump.  The Elder will explain about Raziel's ability to
glide.  Run and jump across the gap and immediately press and hold the X
button while in the air to safely glide over.

Continue up the tunnel to a large room where you encounter the Slaugh,
easily destroyed by mashing the SQUARE button.  Go up to them and kill
both, then devour their forms (not really a soul).  Remember to hold R1
to auto-face an opponent, it makes killing them so much easier.

After they are both dead jump up the ledges and continue up the tunnel.
It will now start to glow blue instead of green.  Continue up to an area
with ruined pillars in a circle and a blue circle in the middle known as
a Planar Portal.  Walk up to it and press SELECT to see your spells.
Currently you may only shift between planes.  Select it and Raziel will
now manifest in the Material Plane.  (You must have full health to shift
between the Spectral Plane and Material Plane)

Notice the gate behind Raziel.  You'll be coming back here later.  For
now, go through the only available tunnel and you'll encounter a pool of
water.  You must jump/glide over it to the other side.  You'll encounter
a door, which you can open by pressing the SQUARE button.  In this room
Raziel will encounter the fledgling vampires.

Jump/glide over the water and the fledgling vampires will take notice of
you.  Raziel then explains he can kill them by sunlight, impalement, or
immersion in water.  Simply hitting them will only stun them.  The
process to kill all non-human enemies is to hit them until they are
stunned (you will know this because they wobble in place), then to
deliver the death blow to them.

In this case, you must pick them up by pressing and holding the TRIANGLE
button.  Continue to hold it and you can then throw them into the beam
of sunlight, onto the spikes on the wall, or into the water.  To throw
an enemy simply let go of the TRIANGLE button.  When they are both dead
devour their souls to restore any lost health.

Now go up to the block (this is an Eidos game, you thought there
wouldn't be any block puzzles?) and press and hold SQUARE to grab onto
the block.  Now move it over to the left wall where you can jump on it
to reach a high ledge.  Go down this tunnel and out the door.  Raziel
will be shocked from so much that has changed.  Even the throne of Kain
was in ruins.

Here you can acquire your first weapon, a staff that you can use to
impale a victim by pressing TRIANGLE when they are in a stunned state.
The staff can be located on the walls of the Sanctuary of the Clans and
Raziel can pull it out by pressing SQUARE.  Try it out (it's my favorite
normal weapon) and then go down the only open path.

After killing the fledgling vampire down this path, you'll encounter a
door with the blue sun symbol that you saw on the Elder Warp Gate.  Open
the door and go into the room to encounter the first Warp Gate that I
have listed as "0- Lake of the Dead".  Activate it by standing on the
circle and you can now travel to this location from any other Warp Gate.
This is a good time to save your progress.  This also concludes the
introduction portion of the game.  END

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.2- The Necropolis
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Exit the door from Gateway 0 and continue down the path to your left
until you come to the Lake of the Dead.  You'll see a cutscene where
Raziel wonders what happened to his clan during his absense.  You'll
automatically face to the left where you must jump over the gap and
continue down this path to enter the domain of Raziel.

Go through the door and the signature music of this series (which kicks
ass) will start up.  Continue forward and a door will slam shut behind
you as two Dumahim vampires come out from either side.  Kill them both
(there are staffs available on either side of the stairs) and then go
through the brass gate that opens.

In this next room you'll see another cutscene and then have Raziel go up
the stairs and to the right where you'll see a door with the Warp Gate
symbl on it.  Go through it and activate Warp Gate "1- Raziel's Clan."
Exit back to the main area and kill the two vampires if you wish.  Now
open the brown door on the left side of the giant flame in the center to
proceed to the next area.

Ignore the stairs down into a pool of water on the left, and go right up
to two vampires around a human that appears to have been sliced in half.
Kill them and go through the metal door on the left side of this room.
You'll come to an area outside with a spire and stairs going around the
outside up to the top.  Go up the stairs and find the switch on the wall
that will lower the drawbridge into the Melchahim Clan.

Follow this path down and then jump into a large open space.  Go up the
stairs to the right and you'll see another cutscene where a human is
being killed by a new type of vampires- the Melchahim vampires.  Kill
them both and then find the metal door on the right side to proceed.

Climb up the cliff to a graveyard, where you'll see another cutscene.
There is a staff resting on one grave that you can take, but beware that
a vampire will dive after you if you take it.  Continue up the path to
the right and you'll come to another block.  Push it over to the left
corner where it fits perfectly, then jump up on it to reach the higher
ledge.

Now you'll see another cutscene where it shows a mosaic of Melchia.  Go
up either ramp and on the left side of this room, past the beam of
sunlight, there will be a metal door to enter.  Go down the stairs and
you'll come to Warp Gate "2- Melchahim Clan."  After activating it
continue down the hall and around to the left there will be a door.

You are now outside in a large area.  Go forward and you see some tall
pillars and water ahead.  You need to jump to the small column in the
middle, then continue to do this with the others until you are safely
across.  If you fall in the water and switch back to the Spectral Plane,
you can easily go back up and try again.

Over at the other side you'll see a Melchahim vampire and door up some
ledges that serve as stairs.  In this room just ignore the two Melchahim
vampires that come rushing down at you and proceed through the wooden
door found on the other side of the room.  Go down the ramp and around
to a room with a central column with strange writing on it.

This is probably the first place you'll get stuck on.  There seems to be
no way to get up top to proceed into the next room.  As you walk into
the room, stop and look to the left wall.  Now switch to the Spectral
Plane and you'll notice the left wall juts out, forming ledges to act as
stairs for Raziel.  Climb them and you'll see a cutscene about Wraiths.
Just wait for it to come towards you and kick it's ass.

At the top of the ledge you should see a Planar Portal, use it to switch
back to the Material Plane.  (If you are low on health there is a lone
spirit floating nearby to consume, or kill the wrath)  Now jump/glide to
the left ledge that has a moveable block at one end.  Push/pull it to
the other and then flip it onto the higher ledge by pressing L1 +
SQUARE.  Once it is on the upper ledge, continue to push/pull it into
the alcove which will raise the gate into the next room.

Do not drop down to the lower part in this room; instead, go to the
right side and jump up to the support beam.  Here you will see a small
platform ahead.  Jump on it and you will notice that one will go down
while the one on the left side goes up, a result of Raziel's added
weight.  Now you can drop down into the room and on the side you are
facing you'll see a block in the wall.

Pull it out and drop it down to the pit in the center of the room.  Now
continue to push it to the other side, then flip it onto the ledges up
to the closed gate.  Watch out for Melchahim vampires in the pit, they
like to spring out of the dirt.  Once you are back up on the higher
tier, push the block over to the right and into this alcove to raise the
gate back to the room where you first saw the Wraith.

Go back into this room and switch to the Spectral Plane again to get
back on top.  This time, however, do not switch back into the Material
Plane.  Jump up onto the support beam again like you did, except this
time jump onto the left platform.  You'll notice it doesn't go down with
Raziel's weight.  This is because in the Spectral Plane time is frozen-
nothing will move until Raziel switches back to the Material Plane.  On
this platform you can jump over to the other support beam and onto the
higher ledge where you can switch back to the Material Plane using the
Planar Portal.

Ahead you will find a small roome with a gate.  In the back right corner
will be two blocks, stacked on top of each other, each having a symbol
the looks like Pi (or a lowercase 'n' for the math-challenged).  Push
them over to one of the corners that has a raised section jutting out
from the wall.  Jump onto this and push the upper block off the top,
effectively separating the two.

Now all you have to do is push each block into the alcoves opposite from
each other.  The catch is that the symbol must be facing outward, not
facing the wall.  You can do this by flipping the block until you have
it aligned correctly.  Once this is done correctly you'll hear them
click and the gate will open a path for Raziel to continue.

Go up the ramp and through the double wooden doors.  You will be back
outside where you had to jump from column to column across the water,
but now you'll be on a ledge with a block.  Push the block off then drop
down below.  Pull the block to the right and you'll notice another
block.  Flip it up onto this block to stack the two.  Now drag the
stacked blocks over to the right and against the wall (you'll notice
this area is white, not green like to the left).

Jump on top of the blocks and then super jump up to a ledge with a
tunnel leading further into the Melchahim Clan.  You'll come to an area
with a pool of water in the center and a path winding around it to the
right.  Continue up the path and enter a building at the top of it.  Go
up the ramp, past the Melchahim vampires and the beam of light, into a
large room with a type of pedestal in the center.

Go to the other side where you can find a lift with a switch on the wall
to activate it.  (It isn't the lever, that is for later)  Below, go left
or right (it doesn't matter) and up a ramp through a metal door.  You
will now be in a room with a large turbine machine of some type.  On one
side of the room will be a switch and on the other will be a crank.
First, activate the switch to position one of the turbines, then go over
to the crank and use it to start up the machine.

Now go back up the elevator to the room with the pedestal and use the
lever in front of you to drop the pedestal down.  Jump down yourself and
you'll notice a series of alcoves, one of which has a block in it (that
is for later to exit) and one of which is really a tunnel.  Find the
tunnel and go down to find yourself below the part of the room you just
lowered.

Jump up onto an outer tier that has large blocks with fire on the top.
Look on the floor and you'll notice a track.  Pull one of the blocks
along the track and you'll notice it will go under a wooden support and
burn it.  Do this with the other three blocks and finally the pedestal
will fall again to this level.  Now all you have to do is push/pull each
block along the track onto each of the 4 corners of the pedestal.

Once they are all in place (you'll hear a click to know you did it
right) the final pedestal will fall even lower.  Jump down and there
will be two tunnels.  The one that goes up is to exit, while the one
that goes down will be the entrance to Melchia's lair.  Prepare yourself
as best as possible by having a full health coil then proceed down.

BOSS: Melchia
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you enter you'll see a cutscene where Raziel and Melchia exchange a
few words and then Melchia will start crawling over towards you. First
of all, take a look at the area you are trapped in.  There is Melchia's
throne, with a non-working crank on the wall, a large circular cage in
the middle with a huge grinding machine above, and 2 small rooms with
gates down.  These two rooms will be your focus for now.

Go to the gate of either room and notice on the left and right you can
super jump up and over the gate inside.  Do not think you are safe for
Melchia can phase through the gate.  Instead, activate the lever and
hold the SQUARE button when you do to keep the gate up.  The camera will
switch to show a clear view of the gate.

Keep holding SQUARE until you see Melchia slowly crawl towards you.
Once his head is past the gate quickly let go of SQUARE and the gate
will come crashing down on him, injuring him.  Waste no time when this
happens, for Melchia will simply break the gate.  Jump over to the other
small room and repeat this process again.

Once both gates have been destroyed you'll see the crank become
operational.  Before activating it, try to place yourself on the other
side of the large circular cage, directly across from Melchia.  If done
correctly, Melchia will not crawl to the left or right of the cage, but
instead phase through it.  Once he has done this, let him crawl another
two steps or so to insure he cannot escape easily, then quickly run over
to the crank and activate it.

You'll see a cutscene where Melchia meets his end to the large grinder
and Raziel consumes his soul, acquiring the "Phase through gates"
ability.  You can now get the first 3 health coil power-ups listed in
Section 2.10 as well as the Force Glyph listen in Section 2.9.  To exit
from Melchia's lair you must switch to the Spectral Plane and press
forward through the still-closed gate.

You will phase through it and then you can go up a series of tunnels to
the top.  Note that you'll have to use the block you saw earlier in one
of the many alcoves to reach the final area where you can walk down the
ramp and exit back to the outside.  END

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.3- Sanctuary of the Clans
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

From Gateway 0- Lake of the Dead, exit through the door and go to the
left back to the entrance of Kain's fortress.  With your new ability,
switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate on the right to
acquire a Health Coil Power-Up.  Continue into the fortress and take
your first right to see a Planar Portal to switch back into the Material
Plane.

Here you will have to dispose of the two Dumahim vampires before the
doors will open.  Simply throw them into the water to kill them or break
a pot over their heads to knock them out.  Proceed further into the
fortress and switch to the Spectral Plane again.  Go either left or
right and phase through the gates.

You'll find a Planar Portal and a soul to restore Raziel's Health Coil
and then switch back to the Material Plane.  You'll see a door that you
can open to the Pillars of Nosgoth.  Prepare yourself to fight Kain.

BOSS: Kain
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the cutscene Kain will teleport to one of three places around the
Pillars of Nosgoth.  Quickly scan each of these places once you get to
know them and search for Kain charging up the Soul Reaver.  You'll have
to quickly run up to Kain and hit him with your claws.

Each time you hit him he will teleport to a new place and the charge-up
time on his Soul Reaver will be shorter.  After you hit him 3 times
you'll see another cutscene and acquire the Soul Reaver in it's true
form.  If you get hit by the Soul Reaver's energy during the battle you
will instantly be sent back to the Spectral Plane.  Simply gather enough
energy to return to the Material Plane and keep trying to hit Kain.

After the cutscene you will acquire the Soul Reaver.  Know that it can
only be manifested in the Material Plane when you have a full Health
Coil.  Once it is manifested; however, it will sustain your life until
damaged by an enemy.  It is also the coolest weapon in the game.  The
Pillars of Nosgoth now act as a place to heal and restore your Eldritch
energy.  END

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.4- Silenced Cathedral
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

To start on your journey to the Silenced Cathedral you'll want to go
back to where you first switched to the Material Plane at a circle of
ruins.  To do this easily just go back to the Underworld Gateway and
follow the path until you come to the Planar Portal.

Do not switch to the Material Plane; instead, phase through the gate
that you see.  Follow the path until you come to the Silenced Cathedral,
surrounded by a moat.  Go around to the right and ignore the path into
the rock by the drawbridge.  You'll see a Planar Portal to switch back
to the Material Plane.

Now go down that path near the drawbridge and climb the ledges until you
come to another Warpgate room.  This Warpgate will be known as "Warpgate
4- Silenced Cathedral".  (Yes, I know Warpgate 3 is still unlisted,
you'll be going to it shortly)  Activate it and go back to the
drawbridge of the Silenced Cathedral to see a door with the Soul Reaver
design and a hole in the center.

Press SQUARE when you are near it and you will open the door with the
power of the Soul Reaver.  You'll now see your first Zephonim vampire,
more spider than human.  These vampires have the ability to climb on
walls and ceilings so be careful, you can easily be ambushed.  Switch to
the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate.

Once inside, go to the right, jumping over the gap, and switch to the
Material Plane at the Planar Portal.  Jump back over the gap (which is
filled with water) and kill th Zephonim vampire.  Super Jump up to the
higher level and kill this next vampire.  Continue down and through
double wooden doors.

You are now in a small city with turrets and you'll see a cutscene
showing the entrance to the Silenced Cathedral.  Look to the right to
see several ledges that serve as stairs to the roof of one of these
buildings.  Look to the right to see a path carved in the walls.
Jump/Glide to it (you'll barely make it) and follow it around to another
part of the town.

Jump onto the roof of the lower building to your right.  Super Jump up
to the ledge sticking out on the left part of the building (again, you
should just barely reach it).  Jump up to the roof of this building and
you should be facing another building with a balcony and railing.  Turn
around to see the entrance to the Silenced Cathedral.

Jump to the ramp and follow it inside where you'll see a Zephonim
vampire cocooning a human victim.  Jump down and kill him, then Super
Jump up to the ledge and continue up to a small room with large doors-
the official entrance to the cathedral.  You'll see a cutscene where
Raziel explains of the origin of this cathedral.

Switch to the Spectral Plane to see the pipes twist.  The far left one
makes a convenient pathway for Raziel.  Jump on it and use it to get up
to the upper levels.  Use the Planar Portal at the top and jump up onto
the ledge.  Jump across the gap to the next ledge and continue around
until you come to a wooden door.

Go around this way and you'll see a switch on the wall by a flame.  Use
it and a platform will come down in a small alcove.  Jump on it will
lower some more, locking it into position.  Go around to the right to a
second wooden door.  This time, go through the door and down the ramp to
a gate.

Kill the Zephonim vampire through the gate and then switch to the
Spectral Plane to phase through the gate to the other side.  In the back
right corner there will be a Planar Portal on a small ledge.  Use it to
switch back to the Material Plane.  Kill the other two Zephonim vampires
and then get a look at this block puzzle.

Notice that the blocks have pictures on them.  It should seem pretty
obvious that you have to match the pictures with the corresponding
holes.  However, this has to be done carefully because one of the blocks
(on the right side) must be raised.  So... get one of the blocks, drag
it over and flip the block with the body and two right arms on it onto
the other block.

Ah, but wait!  You need to position that block in such a way so when you
flip it the picture is facing the right way.  This may take some time if
you aren't too good at visualizing things.  Now when you have the
picture correct and it is on top of the other block, push it over to the
raised hole.

Now you just need to drag another block over so Raziel is able to push
that block into the raised alcove.  The blocks should look something
like this:
      ____
     |    |
     |    |
____  ----
|    ||    |
|____||____|

Once that block is secured into the upper alcove you can simply push the
other 3 into their corresponding holes without having to worry about
anymore raised alcoves.  Some Zephonim vampires drop down from time to
time so be careful.

Once all of the blocks are in place you'll see ledge come out of a wall
with a switch on it.  Switch to the Spectral Plane, phase through the
gate, switch back to the Material Plane, and go back through the wooden
door.  Now go around to the left to the first wooden door your saw and
enter it.  Go down this ramp, killing the Zephonim vampires, and you'll
see the ledge that was created after you solved that puzzle.

Jump on it and activate the switch to lower another platform like the
first one.  Go back and jump on it like the first one to lock it into
position.  The fans below will start, pushing air up into the cathedral.
Jump off the ledge and land on the fans below.

Now jump into the air and glide in place (do not move in any direction).
The air will carry up up farther into the cathedral (you can hold R1 to
slow your ascent).  You'll see a short cutscene where Raziel lands on a
ledge.  Follow the path around and you'll see a wooden door set in a
frame of glass.

Go through the door and enter the next wooden door on your left.  You'll
meet your first human follower here.  Kill him without mercy (it doesn't
affect your messiah status, in case you are wondering (see codes and
secrets for more details) and proceed to a large area with a gate all
around it.

Switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate.  On the other
side of the room you'll find a large alcove with a Planar Portal to
switch back to the Material Plane.  This block puzzle is a little
different from what you've seen so far.

You will notice that the blocks have holes in them.  Two of them have
holes that go straight through, one curves and another had 3 holes in it
so it forms a "T". First thing you want to do is separate the huge
pillar of the blocks by dragging it over to the alcove and then pushing
each one off until no two are stacked.

Now notice the holes in the wall also have pipes in the center like the
blocks.  You have to match up a block with the correct hole so that it
connects all of them.  Remember you might have to flip them to get them
in the right position.  You'll know you put it in the right position by
hearing a click when you set it into the hole.

Once they are all set in the correct holes and all the pipes are
connected you'll see one of four glass covers break on some things with
handles (I'll call them weights for lack of a better term).  Switch to
the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate back to the hallway.

Continue up the ramp, ignoring the large bell for now, and enter another
wooden door.  Kill the two worshippers and you'll find a puzzle
identical to the last one.  You'll know you have one set completed when
you start hearing the music being piped through and you can no longer
remove the blocks.

Once they are all done another glass covering while shatter, releasing
another weight to be turned (we'll get to those soon).  Again, switch to
the Spectral Plane, phase through the gate, switch to the Material
Plane, and go through the wooden door back to the hallway.  Look to the
right side of the wall to see a crank above one of the pipes, you'll be
coming back to this shortly.

Go back and hit the the bell in the alcove on your way down.  Now in
this large open area look to the right down a side path where there will
be another bell.  Hit this bell and you should see the glass break due
to the noise.  Go back to where you saw the crank at the top of the path
where the glass just broke.

This crank will reveil a passage but it quickly closes it, not giving
any time for Raziel to reach it.  To get around this activate the crank
and then quickly change to the Spectral Plane.  Remember that time is
frozen in this plane.  Now jump/glide through the large hole that the
glass used to block.  Go to where you hit the second bell and to the
right down the side path, where it will still be open.

Use the wheel on the right to permanately open the path then go up to
the left and use the Planar Portal to switch back to the Material Plane.
Go through the wooden door and jump over the gap to another one to go
through to the other side.  In this tunnel kill the Worshippers and go
to the next area where two Zephonim vampires await.  Kill them and look
at the Health Coil Power-Up that is trapped inside a glass prison.

Look to the right to see a gate and switch to the Spectral Plane to
phase through it to the other side.  You'll be in another puzzle room
with a small alcove on the other side with a Planar Portal to switch
back to the Material Plane.  Match up the pictures on all of the blocks
and shove them into the correct holes.  Again, you will know you put a
block in the right place when you hear a click.

Once you have correctly placed the 4 blocks another 4 will drop down
into the center to finish the mural and open the glass prison holding
the Health Coil Power-Up.  Go back to where the wall opened by the 2nd
bell and you'll see a small path down into a room with a pipe winding
around the room.  This serves as a path upwards where you'll come to a
hallway with pipes on either side.

Take the first left and you'll come to the large area with the weights,
two of which are still covered in glass.  Switch to the Spectral Plane
and phase through the gate to your left.  Switch back to the Material
Plane at the Planar Portal and go down the left path.  Here you see
three caps on air that creates a note.

You have to open the right combination of the two caps.  Open the middle
and the right one and you'll see one of the glass covers shatter.  Now
go back to the gate and pick the right path where you'll come to another
set of three caps where you'll also have to open the middle and the
right ones to shatter the last glass covering.

Go back to the 4 weights and turn each of them using the SQUARE button
and you'll see the huge fan activate, allowing Raziel to travel farther
into the Silenced Cathedral.  Jump and glide up as you did with the
first large fan; however, you will not go nearly as far.  Try to land on
one of the pipes on the wall and you'll have to push a section of the
pipe to connect with the other parts.

Do this with two of the pipes and then land on the path with the two
pipes on either side of it.  You'll come to a room where you'll see a
cutscne that shows you what you need to do.  First of all, get rid of
the two Zephonim vampires then turn the two weights to move the wall.
Now jump up on the platform to the right of the weights (by the
entrance) then over to the higher platform by the set of three pipes
connected.

These pipes will be important later, but for now jump on them and then
super jump on the highest platform near the higher path where you can
safely glide over to this path you opened when you moved the wall.
Switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate.  Jump down and
find the Planar Portal to switch back to the Material Plane.

Walk up to the organ-looking thing and you'll see a wheel in the center.
Turn it and a jet of air will come out of one of the three small pipes
that are connected.  Now climb the pipes that serve as stairs on the
right and you'll see another path above to continue through.  Again,
switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate and switch back
to the Material Plane on the other side.

You'll be in a room with a bell where you can walk up the pipe to
another room with a wheel too high for your to reach.  Walk over to the
rubble stacked on top of a block and move the block.  This will cause
all of it to fall down, revealing another path.  Ignore it for now and
push the block underneath the wheel where you can jump on top of it and
operate the wheel for a second jet of air to be released.

Now go up the path that was revealed by climbing on top of the rubble.
You'll come to a room where you'll see that you must connect the large
pipe and then turn the wheel at the top.  Ignore the Zephonim vampires
and jump on the pipe and you'll see the section you have to connect on
the middle path.  Go up the right path and then jump down to the middle
so you can push the section to complete the pipe.

Now simply follow the middle path to activate the last stream of air on
the pipe.  Make your way back to that pipe and position yourself in the
middle.  This part is somewhat buggy in the game and sometimes it
doesn't work.  I have no idea how to solve this but it will eventually
work.  Anyway, glide in place and the pipe will carry Raziel up to the
final area of the Silenced Cathedral.

Follow the path and go to the path on your right to activate Warp Gate
5- Zephon's Lair.  Go back outside and follow the path to your revolting
brother, Zephon.

BOSS: Zephon
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zephon has 4 appendages that will attempt to crush you if you stay in
one place too long.  The object here is to get Zephon to release an egg
from the base of his body.  This is done by either hitting one of those
appendages when it gets stuck in the ground or by going up to the eggsac
that is at the base of Zephon and hitting it.

The safer way is to hit the appendages because Zephon will try to swipe
at you with his claws if you get too close.  Either way, he'll let out a
scream of pain and an egg will pop out.  Quickly run and pick it up
before Zephon continues to attack and then carry the egg by the entrance
that is blocked off.  There you will see a torch on the ground.

Bring the egg over to the torch and it will be set on fire.  Now just
line up your sight with Zephon and throw the egg at him.  If done
correctly it will hit him and he will scream again.  Continue to throw a
total of 3 eggs at him and he will die, allowing you to consume his soul
and gain the "scale walls" ability.

Before leaving to the pillars (Gateway 0), you might want to check out
the Codes and Secrets section for a way to destroy all of the Zephonim
vampires within the cathedral.  You can also obtain the Stone Glyph, as
well as some more power-ups.  See Sections 2.9 and 2.10 for details.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.5- Tomb of the Sarafan
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

From Gateway 0 go back to the Pillars of Nosgoth (Kain's throne) and
look around the support pillars (not the actual Pillars of Nosgoth) to
see one that has a scaleable surface.  Climb it to find yourself inside
a dome and go around the outer walkway until you find a corridor that
leads to a wooden door.

Outside, drop down and go through the tunnel to the left of the large
gate.  Follow the path until you come to the Tomb of the Sarafan and
you'll see a cutscene.  Before entering the tomb, find the ledges to the
left and climb them up into a tunnel that leads to Gateway 7- "Tomb of
the Sarafan".

Go back to the entrance of the tomb and switch to the Spectral Plane to
phase through the gate to hear a warning from the Elder.  Continue down
the tunnel and switch back to the Material Plane at the Planar Portal.
Go through the wooden door at the other end of the corridor and you'll
come to a wall.  Pull out the center block and you'll see a cutscene.

Once you are back in control of Raziel, switch to the Spectral Plane and
the floor will give way down to the sewers where you'll have to phase
through a gate and switch back to the Material Plane at a Planar Portal
in an alcove to the left of the large room.  Now you'll encounter a
quasi-boss.

BOSS: Morlock
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morlock is not one of your brothers, simply a Turelim vampire (vampire
from Turel's clan).  He'll fire projectiles at you so don't stay still
often.  You can kill him any number of ways, like a normal vampire.  If
you don't get hit at all you can simply blow him up with the Soul Reaver
or pick him up and throw him into the water surrounding the area you
fight him on.

Once he is dead you will acquire the ability to fire Projectiles.  This
will push back enemies but hardly hurt them; it is mainly used to solve
puzzles by breaking glass and such (by the way, you can technically get
the Sound Glyph now if you want, but it is too much of a deviation so
just continue and get it after Rahab).  Find a symbol on the wall that
looks like a water ripple and fire your projectile at it using the
TRIANGLE button.

You can also aim your projectiles by holding L2 + R2 then pressing
TRIANGLE.  Hit the symbol twice and it will fall, reveiling a path to
continue.  Jump down and fall into the water to automatically switch to
the Spectral Plane.  Follow the path and ignore the first Planar Portal
you encounter.

Instead, go on and switch back to the Material Plane at the second
Planar Portal found on a column.  Jump/Glide over to the other side and
climb the scaleable wall up to the top.  Turn around and you'll see some
higher columns.  Jump to the right one first, then the left, then you'll
notice 2 columns.  One is much lower with an energy recharge and another
one directly in front of it has a block on it.

Use your new ability to shoot off the block, therefore making it able to
jump to and over to the other side.  Go up the stairs and exit through
the wooden door.  Ignore the stairs, it only leads to an energy
recharger.  Instead, go to the right and switch to the Spectral Plane to
phase through the gates.  Switch back to the Material Plane at the
Planer Portal a little farther and you'll instantly be hit by 2 Turelim
vampires.

Kill both of them (there are spikes on the wall) and then notice the
block in the center of the cage.  Hit it against the wall by using your
projectile ability and then switch to the Spectral Plane to go through
the cage then use the block to high jump onto the upper ledge.  Follow
the path until you come to a Planar Portal to switch back to the
Material Plane.

Ignore the gate to the right for now, instead continue until you come to
an open area with a ship floating in the middle of a lake.  Jump/Glide
to the ship and jump up to the right side which holds a lantern at the
end.  Switch to the Spectral Plane and the ship will warp, allowing you
to reach the ledge on the other side.

Continue through this tunnel, switch at the Planar Portal, and go
through the door to the right to activate Gateway 8- "Drowned Abbey".

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.6- Drowned Abbey
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

From Gateway 8 exit and continue across through the wooden door.  At the
end of the tunnel shoot a projectile at the center of the door to open
it.  After you walk through there will be a cutscene explaining the
Drowned Abbey and it's inhabitants.  Look to the right and jump/glide
over to a pillar rising out of the water.

Continue jumping from pillar to pillar onto the edge of the cathedral.
Continue around the edge (you should see two blue Eldritch charge-ups to
know you are in the right area) and at the end you'll encounter your
first Rahabim Vampire.  It will probably start spitting at you so
quickly jump/glide over and knock it silly with your Soul Reaver.

Continue through the wooden door and down the corridor, killing more
Rahabim Vampires.  You'll come to a circular room with some sort of
drill in the center and 3 other passages.  Go forward (it is really the
only pasage) and open the metal door.  As soon as you enter move out of
the way of the Rahabim Vampire's projectile and kill him.

Keep following the path and you'll come to a large open area with a pool
of water and several pillars.  Jump from one to another over to the
other side and kill the vampire.  Continue down the corridors, killing
more Rahabim Vampires along the way (or just running past them) until
you come to a pool of water at the end.

Jump in and you will switch to the Spectral Plane.  Walk forward to find
yourself in the main part of the abbey.  Go to the right once you find
yourself on a checked floor and you'll see a large closed door with two
pillars on either side that jut out above the door.  High jump up to the
right pillar and again up to another large one a little to the right.
Here will be a Planar Portal to switch back to the Material Plane.

Notice the wall is scaleable.  Climb up to a large alcove that hold two
snake-head staves.  Turn around and there will be a series of large
support beams.  This part can get frustrating.  Jump/glide to the first
one and then across to the second and third.  It is easier if you jump
to the left of the vertical support because you'll eventually have to
jump to a high corridor.

Once over, kill the two Rahabim Vampires and shoot a force projectile at
the stained-glass window.  Now you _really_ don't want to fall at this
part or else you'll have to do the majority of this section over again.
Jump/glide to the large platforms channeling water.  Continue jumping
from ledge to ledge (I find it best to jump straight in the air then
just glide over at the height of the jump to land perfectly).

At the end you'll come to a ledge that juts out and you can safely
jump/glide over to the top of the main cathedral.  Go around until you
see a tower with a blue Eldritch charge-up in it.  Jump/glide over to
the tower and you'll see a bloody chain.  Pull it with the SQUARE button
and the large double doors will open beneath the tower.

Go down the stairs and you'll be in a circular room with pillars all
around.  Find the lowest one and, goind clockwise, jump from pillar to
pillar until you reach a Planar Portal at the top.  Switch to the
Material Plane and be prepared to fight Rahab.

BOSS: Rahab
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After watching one of the cooler boss sequences, Rahab will start
spitting the blue projectiles like the rest of his brood.  Notice the
series of stained glass windows around the room.  Aim and shoot your
force projectiles at them to break them.

If you are having trouble it's best to only do one then wait for Rahab
to spit a projectile then quickly do another (although it is possible to
get all of them without him spitting again).  More than likely if you
are hit with a projectile you will fall off and have to climb the
pillars again.  Sometimes, and this has only happened once to me, he'll
jump up and bite Raziel, reducing the majority of his life if you have
the Health Power-Ups or killing him entirely.

Once all the stained glass windows are broken, Rahab will burn and you
will inherit the ability to swim.  You may want to check out Section 2.9
to get the remaining glyphs (and fire reaver) and 2.10 to get some more
Health Power-Ups before continuing to your final brother, Dumah.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.7- Ruins of the Dumahim
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Head to Gateway 0 and exit through the door.  Go left and you'll come to
the Lake of the Dead.  Keep going forward across the bridge and jump
over when there is a gap.  You'll now be at a broken bridge with a path
directly in front of you.  Jump down into the water and press R1 + X to
jump out onto the other side.

Continue down this path, jump in the pool of water and jump back out on
the other side, until you come to a large courtyard with snow on the
ground.  In the middle of the courtyard, if you look to the right you
will see a scaleable surface.  Before climbing it, go to the right and
down a path until you come to a Gateway room.  Enter it and activate
Gateway 10- "The Dumahim".  Now you can go back and climb up the
scaleable wall and turn around to see two large statues on another wall.

Jump/glide to this wall and then jump down to find the entrance into the
Ruins of the Dumahim.  Enter the large wooden doors and watch the
cutscene.  Afterwards, switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through
the large gate ahead.  Go forward and phase through another gate to
enter another courtyard area.

Go to the other side of the courtyard and switch back to the Material
Plane at the Planar Portal.  Look into the center of the courtyard and
notice the block in the middle.  Using Force Projectiles, knock the
block as far as you can towards the entrance.

Once that is done, switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through the
gate into the center of the courtyard.  You can now use the block to get
up to a higher area that also has a Planar Portal to switch back to the
Material Plane.  Jump down directly ahead of you and you'll be back near
the entrance.  Go to your left and at the end of this hall will be a
block.

Pull it out and use it to high jump up to the top of a wall.  Jump/Glide
over to the other side and follow this tunnel a notoriously annoying
block puzzle.  First of all, jump down to the center where there is no
water and on the right will be a ledge with a crank.  Use it to lower
the water in the two areas.

What you want to do is stack enough blocks on top of each other in the
farther pool from where you entered so you can jump up to the ledge.
Please make sure you don't screw up at this puzzle because it is
horribly annoying (in fact, save now before you do anything).  Now go in
the first pool (if you are at the crank facing the crank it is the pool
on the right) and stack the blocks so they form stairs against the
center strip (see picture below).
      ____
     |  B |
     |    |
____  ----
|  A ||    |
|__ _||____|

Once that is done you can stand on block A and flip block B onto the
center strip.  Now before you do anything else, go into the second pool
and flip the two blocks on top of each other.  Push them over to the
side of the center strip and you can now push the other block onto these
two to form a 3 block-high tower.  Push this over to the wall.  However,
you can't reach this 3 block-high tower.

Go back to the first pool and form another set of stairs with the blocks
and repeat the process to get a final block over into the second pool.
You can now push this block over to the 3 block-high tower and high jump
out of there to the other side.

Go down this path and you'll enter a large furnace room.  Jump down and
you'll see a wheel on one side and a lever on the other.  First, turn
the wheel to release gas and then pull the lever to turn on a flame,
which will cause most of the room to explode and break open a door.

Go directly behind the lever down this new path and push the block off
the end into the center courtyard.  Stack it on top of the other one and
push it over to the opposite side of where you entered to be able to
jump up to another path.  You'll be in a large vertical room with many
alcoves on either side.

Jump in the right alcove and switch to the Spectral Plane.  You'll
notice it twists and rises, allowing you to jump to another alcove.
Continue up until you come to an alcove with a lever and cog.  Directly
across is a Planar Portal.  Switch back to the Material Plane then jump
back to the lever.  Use it to lower the massive drawbridge.

Enter this new path and take a right.  You'll see a block in the left
wall you can pull out and drag to the beam of light to see a cutscene
showing how to enter the center of this small courtyard with the large
monolith (pillar).  Jump to the lowest pillar in the room, then switch
to the Spectral Plane to change the other so you can jump to it.

Switch back to the Material Plane once on it, then jump to the third.
Again, switch to the Spectral Plane to reach the fourth, then back
again.  You can now jump down to the monolith.  Lift the end of the
monolith so it tips and breaks open one of the gates.  Open the large
double doors and you will be in the throne room of Dumah.

BOSS: Dumah
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pull out the three spears and he will come back to life.  After the
cutscene, lead Dumah back through the tunnel to the main courtyard.  You
must do this slowly, keeping Dumah within sight at all times, or else he
will simply walk back to his throne room.  The object is to get him into
the furnace room, which is back through the large courtyard and on the
other side through a tunnel.  Once he is there, you must quickly turn on
the gas and use the lever to kill him.  Watch out for his stunning moves
because he is almost sure to kill you in 2 hits.  When he raises his
fist in the air, quickly jump and glide to avoid the shockwave.  All in
all, he is a rather easy boss.

You can now get every Health Power-Up and Eldritch Power-Up in the game,
although they are really not needed to beat the final boss.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.8- Oracle Caves and Chronoplast
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

From Gateway 10, exit and head to the right through the canyons.  You'll
eventually come to an open area with a large sundial.  Circle the
sundial (NOT the entire thing, only the center part) and you'll see a
blue trail follow Raziel after two circles.  The third circle will cause
it to constrict and turn, opening the large double doors into the Oracle
Caves.

Follow the path down, going through a metal door and then take the path
on the right to activate Gateway 11- "Oracle Caves".  Exit and continue
down the tunnel.  You'll enter a large room with Turelim vampires.
Remember to watch out for these guys as it is annoying to not have your
Soul Reaver.

Switch to the Spectral Plane and you'll notice to the left a small crack
widens dramatically, allowing Raziel to enter.  Switch back to the
Material Plane using the Planar Portal ahead and then constrict the dial
so you can enter the right tunnel.  Switch to the Spectral Plane to
phase through the gate, then switch back at the Planar Portal.

Now, pull out the block below the teal 'Y' symbol.  This will cause a
door to close.  Push the block into the center room and drag it over to
the other side where the door just closed (it will also have the 'Y'
symbol on it).  Now go back to where you took it out of the alcove and
you'll see another block in a red 'Z' alcove.  Pull it out and put it
into the 'Y' alcove.

Now switch to the Spectral Plane and go back to the dial and down the
left path.  Phase through the gate again and switch back to the Material
Plane.  Flip the block up onto the ledge with the alcoves and push it
into the black 'Z' alcove (not the red one).  Go back to the right side
and pull the block out of the 'Y' alcove and push it into the black 'O'
alcove.  This causes all of the doors to open.  Head through the newly
opened large double doors.

Go to the right (you can constrict this pillar to open a door to
recharge your Eldritch energy) and go up the ramp to the left.  Switch
to the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate, then jump across the
gap at the top of the ramp.  Immediately turn to the right and notice a
Planar Portal in a small alcove.  Switch back to the Material Plane then
continue across into a large room with a closed door.

Pull both of the blocks to the alcoves, but notice you can't put them
in.  What you want to do is use your Force Projectiles to get them in,
the symbol facing out.  This will cause the large door to open.
Continue ahead and in a room with a gold symbol on the floor, you need
to constrict the four pillars until the gold parts are facing the
symbol.

Once this is done, you'll see the door where you first entered the large
crack in the Spectral Plane open up.  Backtrack to this area and enter
the Oracle's Cave.  After the cutscene, constrict the cauldron to reveal
the secret entrance to the Chronoplast.  In this large room you will
find a statue of Moebius.  After the cutscene, pull the levers so that
the hands read 6:00 (are in a vertical line).

You can now jump down to the bottom where several prisms will chance the
color of the light.  You want to constrict the dials until the color
matches the symbol on the wall.  For instance, for the purple symbol you
want to constrict the first one so it is blue beam, and the second so it
is a red beam to make purple.  Then constrict the main dial and do this
for the other two symbols.

Once that is done continue down this path and enter through some double
doors.  Kill the Turelim vampire, then constrict the red barrel until
you see the first stone disk rotate so the opening lines up with the
entrance.  Do this with the blue and the yellow one until you can walk
through to the other side.  Kill the vampire, then jump/glide over to
the other side and jump down into a room with gears.

You'll notice a line of three blocks.  Push them out of the way so the
gears can spin and the platform will rise, as well as another platform
will begin rocking back and forth.  Jump on the top of the gear to get
to the raised platform.  Then go around to the swinging one to get to
the other side.  Drop down and go down around a circular room.  On the
right where you'll encounter another Turelim vampire, you'll see a block
behind a gate.

Use your Force Projectile ability to knock it down into the circular
room.  Continue down and do this again when you see a block on the
right.  At the bottom, you now have to arrange the four blocks to match
the picture on the floor.  Once they are properly overlapping the
picture, a door will open, allowing you to proceed.  Fall down this pit
and kill the vampires in this area.

You'll notice as you entered this area on the right were three symbols
carved into the wall.  You want to constrict the wooden dials in each
section to match these symbols.  Once that is done, a pendulum will be
released for Raziel to jump on.  Get on it and flip the switch at the
top of each area (3 total).  Once that is done, a large door will swing,
opening a new path to Raziel.

Go down this long tunnel and watch each cutscene as it happens.  Keep
continuing until you notice a change in the tunnel and on the left will
be the door to Gateway 12- "Chronoplast".  Activate it and then continue
down to face the final boss.

BOSS: Kain
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This fight is very similar to the first time you fought Kain, except now
you must jump to higher tiers.  The first time, Kain will appear
somewhere on the ground level.  You must quickly hit him before he hits
you.  Don't worry, if you die you can simply come back and keep trying.
After you hit him once, he will appear on the second tier.  Then, he
will appear on the third.  After the third time you hit him you will
have beaten the game.  In the center of the room is a healing pad so you
can just stand there and Kain's electrical attacks won't affect you.
Enjoy the ending movie and be thankful Soul Reaver 2 is already out.
Before we had to just accept this horrible ending was all we were going
to get for awhile.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.9- Glyphs and Fire Reaver
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Force Glyph
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Phase Through Gates ability
Location: Outside Melchia's Lair

Go back to the entrance of the Melchahim Clan (easist from Gateway 2)
where you had to turn on the giant turbine machine and lower the floor
several times.  Right before entering the building you'll have to go
around a pool of water.  Switch to the Spectral Plane and jump into the
water.

Down here you can grab a Health Coil Power-Up behind a gate, then phase
through the other gate to go up a ramp and switch back to the Material
Plane.  In this area there will be 3 pillars.  Push each one into the
center  and it will make a design that unlocks the Force Glyph for
Raziel to use against his enemies

Stone Glyph
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Scale Walls ability
Location: Outside Melchia's Lair

From Gateway 2 exit through the door (don't go up the stairs) to the
large lake.  Jump in and find the tunnel on the other side to the left.
It leads to a couple Slaugh and a ledge up to the surface.  Switch back
to the Material Plane if you don't have Rahab's ability and climb the
scaleable surface in front of Raziel.

Follow the path and you'll see the ruins of Nupraptor's Keep (for those
of you that haven't played Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, you missed out on
this piece of lore).  Walk forward a little near the ruins and turn
around to see a scaleable surface.  Climb it and you'll be on a narrow
ledge.  Jump up to the next ledge and you'll see a door that leads to
Gateway 6- "Nupraptor's Keep".  Activate it then go back outside.

Enter the ruins through the left eye socket of the skull and follow the
path, killing vampires along the way.  At the end you'll have to climb 2
walls up to a column that has a narrow wooden platform connected to it.
Jump on it and you'll see on the opposite side of the circular column a
ledge.  Jump on that and then switch to the Spectral Realm.  Here you'll
see another narrow platform warp down, just low enough for Raziel to
jump to.

Carefully (very carefully) follow the wooden platfoms up to a ledge with
a planar portal to switch back to the Material Plane.  Now jump back up
to the wooden support beam above and you'll see another one above that
one.  High jump to this one and you'll see a small set of stairs winding
around the central column.

Use these stairs to go a little bit higher then jump across to a ledge
on the other side.  Jump up onto a higher ledge from here to your right
and then just follow the tunnel up to the base of the jaw where the
skull used to sit.

You'll see a small gap and in the distance a ledge with a torch on it.
Line Raziel up and jump/glide over to that ledge.  If you miss then you
have to do this whole part over again.  Follow the path down to a tunnel
and through the tunnel to a statue of a smith.

This puzzle can be very misleading.  First, notice that there are a
total of 6 holes, 2 on the bottom and 4 on the upper levels (2 on each
side).  However, there is only 1 block on the bottom and there is no way
to get blocks from the upper level down to the lower.

Go back to the entrance of this room and look up using L2 + R2 to see
two alcoves on either side that are very easy to miss.  In the right
alcove will be the missing block for the bottom (goes on the right
side).  Now with both bottom blocks in place go to the upper level and
you'll find a back room with 5 blocks.

One of them is not a needed block, although it has a picture on it.
Push one of the blocks off from the middle alcove and get the other one
off of the ledge in the corner then you can begin to place them in the
right order.  Remember, you will have an extra block left when you're
done.

Once all the blocks are in place (you'll know by a clicking sound) the
statue will come alive and smash the anvil, reveiling the Stone Glyph
for Raziel to absorb.

Sound Glyph
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Force Projectile ability
Location: Outside Silenced Cathedral

Go to Gateway 4, switch to the Material Plane, and exit through the
door.  Find your way back to the Silenced Cathedral's main room (the
large twisting pipes where you first entered).  Jump down into the pit
with the fans but do not float up to the higher level.  At the bottom
you'll notice a path for you to follow.

You'll come to a Zephonim vampire and a glass window high up.  Kill the
vampire and then use your Force Project ability (aim it by holding R2 +
L2) to break the window.  Scale the wall and enter this new tunnel.  At
the end, switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through the gate.  Go to
the other side of this hall and switch back to the Material Plane at the
Planar Portal.

You should see a golden mallet hanging on the wall in front of you.
Pick it up and go back to the gate you phased through where you can now
scale the walls.  At the top, face the other end of the room and you'll
notice 2 alcove to the left and right of the first pillar.  Throw the
mallet into either one and then switch to the Spectral Plane.

Jump to the first pillar and switch back.  Grab the golden mallet and
proceed to the last pillar.  Once there, drop the mallet (L1 + SQUARE)
and destroy the window with a Force Projectile.  Pick the mallet back up
and proceed throw it into the tunnel.  Now switch to the Spectral Plane
and jump into the tunnel as well.  Switch back and pick up the mallet.
Now simply walk to the end and hit the large bell with the golden mallet
to make it shatter, releasing the Sound Glyph for Raziel to absorb.

Water Glyph
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability
Location: Outside Melchia's Lair

From Gateway 1 head to the Lake of the Dead and jump on the middle
platform (where Raziel was thrown into it in the opening movie).  There
is a broken bridge on the other end and to the left you'll see a pathway
with flowing water.  Jump to it and follow it to a pool of water.  Jump
in and swim until you find the entrance to the Human Citadel.

If you have never killed a human, this is where it will come in handy.
Everyone will kneel and worship you instead of trying to kill you.
There are also a couple health power-ups in the Human Citadel (see
section 2.10 for details).  Go to the left side and enter a wooden door
to find 2 blocks at the top of the stairs.

You want to stack them on top of each other and jump on them to reach
the tunnel above.  Walk forward and you'll see a short cutscene.
Jump/Glide over to the citadel balcony and go to the end where you can
now drop down and enter the city.  Follow the path and enter the double
doors.  Go up the ramp and to the left through a metal door.

You'll now be in an area with a building in the middle and a square
walkway around it.  Go around the other side and up stairs through a
door leading to Gateway 3- "Human Citadel".  Activate it and go back to
the main area (where you entered through the double doors).

Jump down into the water and you'll notice a circular tunnel with a gate
blocking the entrance.  Use your Force Projectile ability to hit it,
thus opening it and continue through the tunnel.  In a large dome room
you'll find another tunnel to swim through.  You'll eventually come to
an open pool where you can jump out and proceed up some stairs.

You'll see a large statue and to the right a wooden door you can enter.
Follow the path and jump over the gap where you'll notice on the wall a
discolored section.  This is actually a block you can pull out.  Pull it
out and push it into the gap you jumped over.  Now push the block into a
large room with water.

In the center of the room you'll notice a hole that is acting as a
drain.  Push the block into the hole and the water will rise.  Now swim
back and go to the large statue you passed on your way in.  You'll now
watch a cutscene where the statue gives Raziel the Water Glyph to
absorb.

Fire Reaver
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability
Location: Near Drowned Abbey

From Gateway 8, head out and enter the wooden door across.  Hit the door
at the end of the tunnel with a Force Projectile then jump in the water.
Go to the gate on your right and high jump on the ledge.  Jump back in
the water and proceed into the Drowned Abbey.

Phase through the gate and switch back at the Planar Portal.  Swim
around the circular structure and notice a stained glass window.  Use
your Force Projectile ability to shatter it and swim down to the nests
of the Rahabim Vampires.

Go down another set of stairs and you'll notice a very ornate glass
window.  Shatter it with a Force Projectile and go up to a flame.  Swing
your Soul Reaver at it and you will have the Fire Reaver (note: The Fire
Reaver is extinguished when put into water but may be gotten back at any
time by simply swinging it at any flame).

Fire Glyph
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Fire Reaver
Location: The Cistern (near Raziel's Clan)

From Gateway 1 exit the Warpgate room and go across to the wooden door.
Enter and go down the stairs to the left into a pool of water.  Swim
into a large room and through another tunnel ahead to the right.  Swim
up to another large room with the Fire Glyph symbol on the wall.

Go around and enter a wooden door where you can kill the two Skaugh.
Use the crank and then immediately switch to the Spectral Plane to
prevent the door from closing.  Go ahead and switch back at the Planar
Portal then jump down into a circular room.  Use the crank here to open
the gate to the pool of water.  Go into the room and around to the right
down a tunnel.

Enter the wooden door at the bottom and then watch the cutscene.  Drop
down and switch to the Spectral Plane to lower the pillars, creating a
way for you to get up to the ledge.  Switch back to the Material Plane
and swing your Soul Reaver at the flame to get the Fire Reaver.

Go back to the circular pool, being careful not to get hit so you keep
your Fire Reaver, and go through the gate you opened.  Go up to the
giant shrine and swipe your Fire Reaver at the bowl it is holding to get
the Fire Glyph.

Sunlight Glyph
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability
Location: Lighthouse (Near Silenced Cathedral)

From Gateway 4 exit and jump in the moat around the Silenced Cathedral.
Swim to the right and switch to the Spectral Plane to phase through the
gate.  Immediately on the other side of the gate will be a Planar Portal
to switch back to the Material Plane.  Keep swimming through rooms and
tunnels until you see a cutscene showing the way up to the Lighthouse.
Swim to the right up a tunnel and you'll activate Gateway 9-
"Lighthouse".

Go back and swim to the surface of the pool of water and jump up onto
land.  It is important you try not to get hit at all here because losing
the Soul Reaver is very annoying.  Once on land you should be able to
high jump up to the base of the Lighthouse.  Get over to the Turelim
Vampire (remember Morlock?) and kill him before he gets a chance to hit
you with a Force Projectile.

Climb a set of ledges and go up a tunnel to kill another Turelim
Vampire.  Then jump across to the top of the Lighthouse and kill this
vampire.  Go to the left down a tunnel and through a wooden door.
You'll see another cutscene.  Start going down to the left and enter the
first wooden door on the left.

In here, you want to high jump on the vent in the center of the wheel
and push the block off at the top.  Now position the block next to the
wheel so you can quickly push it to jam the wheel.  Go over to the crank
on the wall and use it, then push the block in to stop the wheel from
moving.

Exit this area and jump down on the large wheels in the water.  Go to
the end and enter the base of the Lighthouse.  Go through the metal door
and inside a room where you'll see another cutscene.  Jump all the way
to the bottom and into another room with fans and some kind of machine.
Switch to the Spectral Plane and the fans which block your path will be
raised, allowing you to go further.

Switch again at the Planar Portal and enter the wooden door.  Follow
this down to two double doors.  Jump to the left and begin another block
puzzle.  You need to arrange the blocks so there is a path from one pipe
to the other.  Jump out of the pit and follow the pipe to a wheel which
will release the air from the pipes on the other side of the large
wheel.

Go over and glide to the top using the three jet streams.  It is a
little hard but not impossible.  When you are on the flap, jump to the
catwalk above. Follow it to a wooden door which leads to the large
machine we saw earlier in the cutscene.  Go to the 3rd hole and jump in
it and go back the way you came.

Once back outside you will see the light at the top of the Lighthouse
spinning and a prism.  Go back across the pool of water and enter the
wooden door at the bottom of the left path.  At the altar, you will see
how the sunlight hit the symbol on the wall periodically.  You must
switch to the Spectral Plane just as this happens and the Sunlight Glyph
will appear (note: This is the most powerful Glyph in the game).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2.10- Health Coil and Eldritch Power-Ups
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

NOTE- I have listed these in the order I acquired them in the game.
Some may be able to be acquired earlier but for the most part this is
listed as soon as you can get them.

Health Power-Up #1
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Phase Through Gates ability
Location: Training area

Goto the Underworld Gateway and go back to the area where you
encountered the first vampires.  There should be a block in this large
room, as well as a beam of sunlight, a pool of water, and spikes on the
wall to impale the vampires.  Jump into the pool of water and you'll
change back to the Spectral Plane automatically (unless you have Rahab's
ability).  At the bottom use the Phase Through Gates ability to go
through the gate and collect the Health Coil Power-Up.

Health Power-Up #2
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Phase Through Gates ability
Location: Outside Melchia's Lair

From Gateway 2 go outside the door to the large water area that you had
to jump from column to column and go to the right where you stacked up
the two blocks to enter the Melchahim Clan.  Follow the tunnel to a
smaller pool of water with a path winding around it.  Switch to the
Spectral Plane and jump in the pool where you will find an intricate
gate in the wall that holds the Health Coil Power-Up on the other side.

Health Power-Up #3
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Phase Through Gates ability
Location: Raziel's Clan territory

From Gateway 1 exit back to the large area and go to the left back down
the stairs into the first large area.  As soon as you go down the steps
into this area turn to the left and look up a little bit to see a gate
and a power-up behind it.  To reach it, push/pull the large block on the
other side over to the gate, then switch to the Spectral Plane and phase
through it.

Health Power-Up #4
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Phase Through Gates ability
Location: Sanctuary of the Clans

From Gateway 0 exit and go to the left to find the fortress that is the
Sanctuary of the Clans.  Switch to the Spectral Plane and phase through
the gate on the right to acquire the power-up.

Health Power-Up #5
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Phase Through Gates ability, Soul Reaver
Location: Silenced Cathedral

You acquire this once you accomplish one of the block puzzles and the
glass surrounding the power-up is broken.  Refer to the Silenced
Cathedral portion of the walkthrough for more information.

Health Power-Up #6
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Scaling Walls ability
Location: Outside Melchia's Lair

Just like Power-Up #2, go to the lake (gateway 2) where you had to jump
from column to column and on the second column you jump to you'll see a
scaleable surface on the left.  Jump to it and climb up into an alcove
that holds the power-up.

Health Power-Up #7
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Scaling Walls ability
Location: Near Underworld

From the Underworld Gateway find the place where you first encountered a
planar portal and switched back to the Material Plane.  There will be
ruins around it as well as a scaleable surface.  At the top will be the
power-up.

Health Power-Up #8
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability
Location: Silenced Cathedral

From Gateway 4 exit to the entrance of the Silenced Cathedral and jump
in the moat.  Go to the left and at the end jump out of the pool and
onto a ledge.  Climb the scaleable surface in front of you up to another
ledge overlooking the Silenced Cathedral.  Here you will find a power-
up.

Health Power-Up #9
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability
Location: Human Citadel

(Note- If you have Gateway 3 activated you can use that as a short-cut)

From Gateway 1 head to the Lake of the Dead and jump on the middle
platform (where Raziel was thrown into it in the opening movie).  There
is a broken bridge on the other end and to the left you'll see a pathway
with flowing water.  Jump to it and follow it to a pool of water.  Jump
in and swim until you find the entrance to the Human Citadel.

If you have never killed a human, this is where it will come in handy.
Everyone will kneel and worship you instead of trying to kill you.  Go
to the left side and enter a wooden door to find 2 blocks at the top of
the stairs.

You want to stack them on top of each other and jump on them to reach
the tunnel above.  Walk forward and you'll see a short cutscene.
Jump/Glide over to the citadel balcony and go to the end where you can
now drop down and enter the city.  Follow the path and enter the double
doors.

Go around and enter the main tunnel where at the end and to the right is
a wooden door.  Enter it and follow the path where you'll find an
aqueduct.  Jump over to the other side and on the left wall you'll find
a wheel you can turn, lowering the water level in another room.  Drop
down in the aqueduct and follow it to the large room.

Now you'll see two blocks and a ledge jutting out on one side.  Place
them both on this ledge, then stack them on each other so that you can
jump on them and switch to the Spectral Plane to phase through the gate.
Go up the stairs and switch back at the Planar Portal.  Go up these
stairs and flip the switch to raise the gate.  Continue into this area
and collect the Health Power-Up from the fountain.

Health Power-Up #10
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability
Location: Human Citadel

(See above Power-Up for info on entry into the Human Citadel or use
Gateway 3)

Once you have entered the double doors to the first area of the Human
Citadel, go left up the ramp and through the metal door.  Follow this to
a large area with a building in the center and a walkway around it.  Go
to the left and notice water flowing from an alcove above.  Climb the
scaleable surface and up into the alcove to find a Health Power-Up.

Eldritch Power-Up #1
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Swimming ability

Go
to the left side and enter a wooden door to find 2 blocks at the top of
the stairs.

You'll now be in an area with a building in the middle and a square
walkway around it.  Go to the left and notice there is a scaleable wall
right where the water is flowing.  Climb up it (notice the Health Power-
Up) and then jump to the small alcove directly across.  Use these
alcoves to jump around the center building until you see a balcony with
a switch on the wall.

Flip the switch and the door directly above will open, allowing entrance
into the center building.  Climb the only scaleable wall in this
building and jump over to an illuminated hallway.  Follow it to the
Eldritch Power-Up.
