Introduction:
Well, well, well, so you finally want to use Vega, good for you. For
years, people have avoided Vega, said he sucks, hes a weakling, clings on to
walls, and so on. (Lets not get too technical) Vega is better than REALLY GOOD!
I'll tell you why in the next couple of pages, this Faq is for Capcom vs. Snk
one, but I will update every now and then and maybe add the changes for part two.
Maybe. The question your asking is probably why Vega is so good. I'll tell you
why:
Pros:
He's fast, VERY FAST
He has really strong supers, and they have real good priority
Incredible range, hes an excellent poker
He can jump off of walls, but unfortunately, they got rid of the cage level...
He is the only person in the game who can roll backwards (in a way)
Did I mention he was incredibly strong?
Cons:
Can't really find any, you just need practice to master him, Nothing can hold
Vega down if you know how to get out of sticky situations, especially if your in
the corner, people always seem to think they have won when they get Vega in the
corner, Why?
Ok, those are just his Pros and cons, We can now get into his specials and all
the good stuff, So here we go, On with the show!!! But first some legal stuff
and so on.........

Legal Stuff:
Ok, lets get something straight, you must e-mail me first to get my
approval, if I find my Faq on another site, I will be forced to take legal
action. I don't care what kind of website you own, but it has to be a legitimate
one, like Gamefaqs or at least one that people actually visit. If you use some
of my work, or my words in your own Faq, give credit where it's due. I guess
that's about it, now we begin...

Vegas Moves:
I'm not telling you where or what button does what, because you should already
know that, and the buttons in the arcade are the same as they are on the
Dreamcast controller.
Wp: Vega does a poke at the opponent. This comes out very fast and leaves no lag,
so feel free to use it often, if you like. I use this when my opponent tries to
roll at me, because I can quickly start a combo from it, or switch into a
rolling crystal flash. So use this when your opponent is close to you. The
crouching version is the same, thus leading to yet another combo, but the
jumping version is nothing special, so ignore it.
Wk: This is the exact same thing as his wp, except when he is standing he knees
the opponent, and when crouching he does a small kick, more like a jab with the
legs. Once again, avoid using this as an opener from the air, if you hit, you
can then combo into the scarlet terror, but stick with the wp.
Fp: The greatest poking move in the game! This thing reaches out for about one
third of the screen! Abuse this, I mean really abuse this! The only time you
shouldn't use this is if your opponent is close to you, as they will simply roll
and hit you with a special or something like that. The crouching version is the
same except it goes a little bit farther out. The jumping version is a good
opener for combos because it lunges down towards the opponent, kind of like
Yamazaki's jumping fk.
Fk: When standing he does a jumping kick that hits at the head and streaks all
the way down to the ground. Goes up toward down. Really bad move. The jumping
version is his best opener for combos, but his crouching combo depends on his
direction. If you hold down and back, he kicks out for about one sixth of the
screen, if you hold down forward, he slides at the opponent. The forward version
will get your ass kicked so bad, avoid using the crouching fk at all, stick with
the crouching fp.

The Controls:
Roll: push wp and wk at the same time, you will roll at the opponent and avoid
all attacks, for a while. This is a bad idea unless your getting out of the
corner or a special or something, Vega's roll is really slow, so avoid it as
much as you can; take your battles into the air.
Super jump: press down then up to jump. This is a bigger jump than the normal.
Wall jump: Oh my god....It took me three months till I finally realized that Vega
could jump off walls. You just jump towards a wall and then jump away as if you
were doing a double jump.
Forward+kick: Vega does a backward spin kick. He turns, takes a step, and
launches himself at the opponent, this is a bad move, and it takes waaaayyy too
long.
Charge (SNK) hold fp, fk at the same time, only works for Snk groove
Capcom users, for Capcom groove you use one bar with the weak version of the
kick or punch, for level two use the fierce version of the kick or punch, and
for level 3, use either both punches or both kicks when doing a special. For
example: Charge back, forward 2punches
Grab escape: press forward and fp or fk to escape getting grabbed
Dash: press forward, forward
Backwards dash: press back twice

Special Moves:
Crystal Flash: charge back, forward, then punch
Vega rolls at the opponent and finishes off with a poke. This hits
multiple times and is great to combo off of a crouching wp. This move is also
one of Vega's best chipping moves, so use it if you want to, I don't but it
doesn't matter, its still a good move.
Scarlet Terror: charge downback, forward then kick
This is Vegas equivalent of Guiles Flashkick. Good anti air priority,
and quite a bit of range, not too much, but it's enough. I use his to knock
people out of their specials, works well against: Iori's maiden masher, Terry's
buster wolf, and several other specials. Use this often, but if you happen to be
fighting Kim and he does his air special, and you happen to try and knock him
out of it, none of you will hit, so be ready to do a good special when you land
to hit your opponent when hes off guard, I suggest you do a Red Impact.
Sky-high claw: charge down, then up and punch
This is REAL fast. Vega jumps towards the wall and then launches
himself at the opponent, use this to trick your opponent and catch him off guard,
this has got to be the fastest move in the game, the reason why is if your
fighting an Snk groove guy and he happens to charge, there's no time for him to
block this! So use it a lot, after hitting you will have enough distance to give
you time to recover. If your fighting Geese and he does his level three special
after blocking this, God help you...
Wall cling: charge down then press up and kick
Vega jumps at the wall and jumps towards the opponent, you can
choose which wall you want to jump off of, and you CAN control Vega while he is
in the air, so do this, hold back and let them do an uppercut, and move in (your
still in the air here) and knock them out of their uppercut with whatever
pleases you. Vega players tend to avoid this, why? You know, you can fake it
then go for the kill, you don't necessarily have to go in for the kill, plus if
you use this and the sky-high claw, you can fake out your opponent so he won't
know when or what move your doing. It's so fun watching your opponent get
confused!!
Flying Barcelona Attack: do the wall cling then press any punch
Vegas street fighter 2 special move! He used to piss me off so bad,
but its ok since I pick him now. Anyways, Vega jumps off the wall and whenever
you press the button, he slashes at the opponent and hits by A LOT. If your
opponent doesn't have an uppercut, and they try and knock you out with an anti-
air kick or punch, you can do this: Do the wall cling and hold forward all the
way so you will fly to the other side of the screen and fly right over their
anti-air attack, press punch when you are right behind them. Remember that Vega
moves Faster in the air then he does on he ground, launching yourself from one
side gets you safely over your opponents attack, and it leaves them wide open
for a Flying Barcelona attack.
Izuna Drop: Do the wall cling and when you are real close to the opponent, press
any directional button (except up) with punch. (In other words, just grab them
out of the air the same way as on the ground.)
This move does great damage, and is unblockable. Use this to grab
people out of the air, you can also grab them off the floor but you have to be
real close to them. I use this more than the Flying Barcelona attack mainly
because it hits by almost twice as much damage, plus its unblockable. If your
opponent has an uppercut, lets use Ryu, say you do the wall cling and Ryu does
his Shoryuken, stall in the air for a while (like hold back just enough to avoid
being hit) then when Ryu is coming down, move in the air towards him and Bam!
Hit him with an Izuna drop. This move is great and the fact that it is
unblockable makes it even better, use this and his flying Barcelona attack along
with his sky-high claw to confuse your enemy, and hit him hard. This move is
especially great for people who keep jumping in the air and throwing fireballs
at you (Geese and Ryo) just do the wall cling, they'll launch the fireball, and
you go in for the kill. Vega sound more like an assassin than a poker from my
point of view. He waits, waits, and then kills. Mwahahahaha!!!!! Oh yeah, if
your opponent just so happens to roll, remember that this move can stop them
flat in the middle of their roll. Its great for idiots who do nothing but roll,
the rolling Izuna drop can also stop people in the middle of a roll, as they are
both grabs.
Short Backlash: wk+fk
This is Vegas backward flip, he can avoid attacks, use this a lot
to escape many attacks, this IS IMO a backward roll. Vega is the only one in the
game with this kind of ability, so use it wisely.
Backlash: wp+fp
Same thing as the short backlash, but gives more time to escape
attacks, In other words, it takes a little longer, but looks cooler.

Desperation Moves:
Scarlet Mirage: charge back, then forward, back, and forward, kick
Vega does his Scarlet terror twice if on level one and two, and three
times if on level three and Maximum. This move comes out fast and hits by a lot.
Use this to counter an attack you have just blocked. If you block an attack and
you just so happen to have three specials, forget this and do the Red Impact.
Otherwise it's a fairly good move, but Vegas other specials are still a bit
better. (I don't really care, I pick his EX version anyway)
Red Impact: charge back, then forward, back, and forward with punch (3 specials
or MAX)
Some people call this the Vega move. I don't think so. Sure it
has great range, does massive damage, and looks cooler than any special in the
game, but his Rolling Izuna drop still hits by more, and remember, its
unblockable, the Red Impact is not. Don't get me wrong, this move is great for
countering people on the ground, but I stick with his rolling Izuna drop special.
Use this if you pick the Snk groove and your health happens to be blinking.
Otherwise, use it as a counter move.
Flying Barcelona Special: charge downback, then downforward, downback, then up
and the direction or the wall you want to jump off of, plus kick. After jumping
from the wall, whenever you like, push punch and Vega will do a multiple hitting
Barcelona attack.
This hits by more than the Rd Impact, but less than the Polling Izuna drop.
At level 1 it hits for three, at 2 it hits for 3, and at three or maximum, it
hits four times. This move is great if you pick normal Vega, it hits great if
you are out of range for the Izuna drop, and can be used in the same way as the
normal flying Barcelona attack, see my strategy up there if you want to know how
to use it wisely. Otherwise, this is a pretty good move.
Rolling Izuna Drop: Charge the same thing as you did for the Barcelona Special,
except once you jump off the wall, do the same thing as you do for the normal
Izuna drop, get close to your opponent and press any directional button (except
up) and punch.
This is my favorite move in the game. It is INCREDIBLY STRONG,
and did I mention that it's unblockable? Vega grabs the opponent and does a
numerous amount of suplexes, while in the air! He does two flips on level one or
Snk charged, three if on level two, and four if on level 3 or MAX. It's the
perfect move, use this as much as you like, because you'll definitely use it
later on, if you want to know how to use it correctly, just scroll up there and
read my strategy for his normal Izuna drop. ABUSE THIS!!!!!!!!! This move can
stop your opponent in the middle of their roll too!

Combos:
Vega doesn't have too many combos, but I'll list like three or four main ones.
Jumping fp, crouching fp
Crouching wp, rolling crystal flash
Crouching wk, scarlet terror
Jumping fk, crouching fk
I told you he doesn't have too many combos, he's just used to poke, or fight in
the air, if you've ever heard someone tell you to never use his air attacks,
forget that, they probably want you to lose or make you do something stupid.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Strategy:
You got to hit and run, There's one o your strategies. It's too simple so
I'll tell you my strategy. Keep it in the air. Mix up your Izuna drops and your
Sky-high claws along with the Barcelona attack. You can easily win without
getting hurt for crap, so take it into the air. Use you Rolling Izuna drop
special the most, why, because its unblockable and it hits by the most. Duh!
Learn to control Vega in the air and fake out your opponent, especially if your
opponent tries to roll away from your Barcelona attack. If they do try this, you
have two options, you can a.) Hold back in the air, wait till they are done
rolling, then hit them with a Barcelona attack, or b.) Use a rolling Izuna
(special or super, it doesn't matter) drop because it does stop your opponent in
the middle of their roll! That's why I say it's the best move Vega has. Other
than that, you should be able to kill everyone, if not and your having a real
hard time with Vega, then just stick to the ground and poke like a mad *#@%!&.
Well, there's my main strategy, if you want to know strategy for his normal
moves, or specials, scroll up there and read what I put under his move, if its
not there, you can e-mail me and I'll fix it. So there you have it, that's my
strategy, other people might tell you different things like:
His Red Impact is his best special! (These are people who keep their fight on
the ground; they obviously don't take complete advantage of Vega's abilities)
Vega has bad offense! (He does not; just because he's skinny don't mean he can't
take any hits)
Never use his Izuna drop or Barcelona special. (I read this in an FAQ and got so
pissed I decided to make this faq and prove him wrong, you have to take your
battles into the air, that's what Vega's for! Haven't we learned anything from
Street Fighter 2?!
The guy who wrote this FAQ is crazy! (Who cares, at least I win my matches, no
one is used to fighting Vega because no one picks him, there's your advantage
right there! No matter what you do, your opponent hasn't (probably) fought too
many Vega players, so trick him.)
Your momma's gay! (I can't say too much here, maybe you should punch the guy who
said that)
Oh yeah, and if you happen to get punched because you killed the other guy with
Vega (seeing as how people think Vega sucks) its not my fault, I just told you
HOW to win, I didn't tell you to actually GO and win.
That's pretty much what people will say to you, Ignore that crap and win. It's
all about winning, winning is everything; you can't win if you lose, so you
better win. You got that? Second place is only finishing last first. So go make
me look good out there! And don't come back with a black eye! I mean it!

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Which Groove should I pick?
I can't say too much here, pick the groove that suits you. I like Capcom
because you don't have to worry about charging, and Vega wasn't meant to stay on
the ground too long, so its Capcom for me. If you pick Capcom, you'll have an
easier time all the way, if you pick Snk, you can do as many rolling Izuna drops,
as you want when your health is low. But if you pick EX Vega with the Capcom
groove, you'll really know how to score with those Rolling Izuna Drops! So the
groove depends on you, I used to pick Snk because you get unlimited special when
your health is blinking, but I changed to Capcom because it's a lot easier to
use and you don't need to worry about charging or anything like that.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Do I pick EX Vega or Normal Vega?
Well, that depends, here are the differences:
Normal Vega:
Has four specials
Shows when you do an air special
Has Scarlet Mirage
Has Red Impact
Most people probably would say he's better. MOST people (These people to me are
idiots)
EX Vega:
Has one special
No Red Impact
No scarlet mirage
No Barcelona Special
Has a stealth Izuna drop, this means you only waste a special if you hit your
opponent, it doesn't shine when you hit the wall, it shines when you actually
grab the opponent. This is like hitting your opponent with a level three rolling
Izuna drop no matter what, if you miss, it doesn't matter, and you won't waste a
special for it. Hehehehe!
Well, as you can see the Normal Vega has more moves, but I like the EX Vega with
the Capcom groove, personally because it's the perfect surprise, and you
practically have unlimited special! But that's from my point of view. I am good
at hitting people with the rolling Izuna drop, if your not, then I would suggest
Normal Vega until you get better. Remember this; Vega can easily win without a
special, he doesn't really need them, this makes it all the better reason for
picking EX Vega. And most people get really surprised when they don't see you
shine when you hit the wall, but you shine the second you grab them, I did this
once to some guy at the arcade, lets just say I've never heard more cursing in
my life.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ _ _ _ _ _
What if I lose my Claw?
If you lose your claw, there is just one really big disadvantage;
you can't do your Red Impact anymore. There's yet another reason for why I pick
the EX version of Vega. If you do lose it, of course you will, you shouldn't be
too focused on getting it back, if you want it really bad, then go ahead, but if
you don't need it, forget it, you'll just focus on the claw and get your butt
kicked, believe me, its not worth it. One easy way to get it back is by rolling,
this isn't the best way to do it, but it works. The other is to do the wall
cling and launch yourself at it, I find this to work better, and if you happen
to be close enough to your opponent, then use a Barcelona attack and then pick
up your claw. Just don't depend on your claws too much, people who can get your
claw to come off really fast are:
Ryu: His fireballs can really be a pain
Ken: He's the same as Ryu
Kim: His air attack is almost guaranteed to knock your claws off, and A LOT of
people pick Kim...
Geese: Both of his specials can knock your claws off, and they also hit by a lot.
Terry: Power wave and rising tackle are pretty good moves
Rugal: Don't get caught in his Kick special, it's almost as good as one of Kim's
specials.
Well, that's pretty much all the people you should watch out for, but anyone can
knock your claws off, the mask can also come off, but that doesn't play a major
role in the game anyway. And if your wondering how you pick up your claws, you
have to walk over hem, blocking and being pushed over them will not get you your
claws back. They shouldn't come off anyways, besides, you are hitting and
running away.

Differences in Capcom vs. Snk one and 2:
Vega didn't change too much, his crouching fp can now be used as an anti-air,
and his standing fk acts as a roundhouse, like in street fighter 2. The only
major differences are probably the grooves and so forth, otherwise, it's the
same old Vega. I think they got rid of his Barcelona Special; I don't use it so
how would I know. I guess that's all for the changes, Vega is used the same for
both games. And there are NO EX forms in Capcom vs. SNK 2 plus, there are two
more buttons to use, medium kick, and medium punch.

ACTUAL win poses:
When you win Vega will do one of the following:
Throw a rose at your opponent's carcass
Stick out his claw
Jump right over to your opponent, land on them, and give a very sinister laugh.
(My fav!)
People to watch out for:
Mature, damn her anti-air grab
Geese: His raging storm isn't that hard to avoid, just don't overdo it
Ryu: Who says Shin Shoryukens don't hit hard? But he shouldn't pose a major
threat.
Rugal: His Genocide cutter is deadly if he has you in the corner
Terry: Rising tackle is the same as the genocide cutter, just use the Rolling
Izuna drop technique I added way back up there!
I guess that's all, none of them pose a great threat, just remember to fake them
out while in the air, hold back and let them do their uppercut, then move in and
do the Izuna Drop. Always remember that you CAN control Vega while he's in the
air!
***Vega has an air throw, sorry about that, I think its with kick, but I'm not
too sure, I'm not dumb enough to jump at my opponent, especially since Vega's
air attacks face downwards, not upwards.

Easy ways to piss off your opponent:
Grab like a jackass, grab and grab, and grab, and keep grabbing, it's all about
the grabs.
Hahaha I love this part, you can do the following to really piss your opponent
off:
Laugh really hard and start rolling on the floor
Literally tell him he sucks
Say, "you didn't do too bad, considering you used the crappiest players in the
game"
Make a really big scene were you hug your opponent and say, "Don't cry, its just
a game."
Say...My grandma plays better than you....
Make fun of his Mom (although if he's bigger than you forget about it)
Note: Some of these may get you hurt, if you're smart, you'll avoid this
section. If you don't care at all, then go ahead...but don't pick on the little
kids ok?

Colors:
Well...I don't know too much about the colors, I pick him with the fp anyway,
black looks better on him, if you like normal, pick him with wp, if you like
purple and yellow, select him with wk. Colors don't really make too much of a
difference, but if you pick a gay color and you win, rub it in like crap, say
things like..."You let a guy in THAT beat you?" and so on, you know what I mean.

I would like to give thanks to all the people listed here, you made this Faq
happen. (I feel like I just won an Emmy)
Silent J: You were right, your Faq on Vega sucked so bad, I had to write this,
Thanks man, I owe you one! I also used some of his quotes from your Faq, and who
would have thought to use a "what if I lose my claws section?"
Dallas: You told me all I need to know on how to write an Faq
CjayC: Gamefaqs kicks ass, cheers to the best gaming site ever!!!
Jessica: You're so pretty I had to put you here. You inspire me to do everything
Fabian: You suck at fighting games, but you're an ok friend
Josh: You taught me that when your body bends in the most unusual ways, it is
possible to get up and walk away...
Vincent: Ur just plain funny
Myself: Hell I wrote this! Why not give myself some credit!
My cousin: Playing pokemon is fun; too bad I always beat you huh?
Snk: You guys are the best, you guys make great games, and you shouldn't stop,
so make sure that Korean company doesn't stop continuing your games!
Capcom: You guys made one hell of a game, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 kicks so much
ass, you get about half the credit, just make sure you come out with Marvel vs.
Capcom 3!
Game square: You sold me this game and got me hooked, Thanks!
Dreamcast: What a great system, you guys have the greatest games, but why does
Capcom vs. Snk 2 have to be an import?
Ps2: Well, Capcom vs. Snk2 is on for that system so I guess its only right to
give you guy's credit, and Final Fantasy X kicks ass! Don't you even think of
letting go of squaresoft...Bill Gates doesn't deserve it.
My grandpa: You bought me my Dreamcast, and practically all my other systems,
plus you get me imported games all the time! Thank you more than anyone else,
