1. The Story - Source, Instruction Manual
=============================================================================

The future, 200 years from now.......
A planet called Dan Star, populated by hot-blooded guys.

At the edge of the known universe lies the planet Dan Star, a USH (United
Stars of Humanity) colony populated by hot blooded guys.

Here Riki Makishi, an impetuous teenager, operates as a rookie officer in
the People's police (PP) - Dan Star's civilian peace keeping force run by
his father, Ban Makishi. Riki spends all his spare time working for the PP
(much to the detriment of his school grades), vigorously pursuing his dream
of becoming the chief of the PP like his father before him. However, Dan Star
is a peaceful planet, and because Riki's low rank he is mostly assigned to
trivial civilian emergencies like finding stray pets or sewage inspection.
But all that is about to change.

The notorious intergalactic crime syndicate, the SF Kosmo Gang, is moving
its operations into USH space. According to USH intelligence reports, the
syndicate has already established a commanding presence on several USH stars,
and is expanding its criminal empire at an alarming rate. It looks like Dan
Star is the next planet to be targeted.

The source of the SF Kosmo Gang's power is their control of the Space Fruit
trade. The syndicate has set up a network of well defended space ports on
planets across the galaxy, and uses them to secretly smuggle these precious
Space Fruits, selling them on the black market at super inflated prices. They
then use the profits of space fruit peddling to produce new weapons and
equipment with which to enforce their regime of terror.

Can Riki, the self proclaimed "Man of all Men", defend Dan Star against the
evil SF Kosmo Gang? Can he shut down the gang's Space Fruit trade smuggling
operation? Will his school grades ever improve?

2. Characters - Source, Instruction Manual
=============================================================================

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Riki Makishi
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Impulsive, arrogant, but good natured, Riki is a typical Dan Star teenager.
An officer of the People's Police force, Riki pilots Bangai-O into battle
against the SF Kosmo Gang.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mami Makishi
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A quiet, intelligent girl, Mami is always in a good mood. She is loyal to her
family and aids them in any way she can.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ban Makishi
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ban Makishi is the father of Riki and Mami who tends to be rather useless as
an inventor. He is supposed to manage the People's Police in order to use his
inventions as often as he can. His hobby is hacking.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bangai-O
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bangai-O is a super robot controlled by Riki and Mami. Ban hacked into the
data of the robot production of the SF Kosmo Gang and built a robot which
fights for justice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gai
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The leader of the evil SF Kosmo Gang crime syndicate. He is the heart of
their criminal activities. He is a cruel, powerful man who values the loyalty
of his subjects. However, he will not tolerate any form of treachery or
disobedience. His persistent assaults on Riki and Mami make you wonder if he
has an ulterior motive for attacking them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sabu
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As his reputation suggest, Sabu is one of the lowest rankings members in the
SF Kosmo Gang. He appears and disappears constantly. Nobody knows if it is
the same person, or if he has a double. He dreams of running his own
restaurant in the future, but unfortunately, he is not very talented when it
comes to preparing Takoyaki and simply cannot resist the waffles of the
goldfish game salesman.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mrs. M
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
An attractive woman whom provides Riki and Mami with information via the
satellites positioned throughout the levels. The information is sometimes
useful, sometimes stupid. She is very greedy and demands unreasonably high
information fees. Mrs. M is really a bored housewife residing in Minami
Senju, who has been married for 3 years. She keeps her activities as an
informer hidden from her husband.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tasogare Deka
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
An experienced official of the Nasugamama Guard who infiltrated the SF Kosmo
Gang undercover to find his lost daughter whom he believes has been abducted
by the syndicate. He is very trustworthy, even though his younger colleagues
mock his conventional methods of investigation. His diet is limited to Anpan
and milk.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr. Saraman
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saraman is a teacher at Riki's and Mami's school. He exclusively teaches
health education. He hates violence, but believes there are no excuses for
truant pupils whom he tracks down and drags back to school. His desire to
catch Riki borders on the unhealthy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miss. W
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sister of Mrs. M is a high priestess on Osore-zan where she channels the
spirits of dead leaders and lets them communicate with Riki and Mami. Her
personality is irritable, yet she changes noticeably as soon as a ghost takes
possession of her. As a child, she went missing for more then eight years
after disappearing with her sister in the mountains.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pai Yoshi
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the name of a rival gang, the Realm of Darkness, Paikichi joined the SF
Kosmo Gang to learn about their robot technology. He steals technology when
he gets the chance, He is always interested in the personal affairs of
others.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kenji
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lawyer of the SF Kosmo Gang. He charges obscene amounts of money for his
services and uses loopholes in the law to legally protect his criminal
clients. He spent much of his youth in France and is intimately familiar with
criminal law. He likes baking bread and eating snails.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
86
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
She used to be one of the leaders of the New York mob but was dismissed due
to re-organization. She joined the SF Kosmo Gang and quickly worked her way
up the ladder. Even though she grew up in New York she does not speak any
English, and instead chooses to communicate using pictures! She loves Jazz.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hashioka
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hashioka owns the construction company which builds all the illegal space
stations for the SF Kosmo Gang. He has numerous contracts with the gang, but
he still lives in a shed since, so far, not a single station has been
completed! He looks like a barbarian, yet when talking about construction,
he displays a refined knowledge of modern architecture and machinery. His
true hobbies are harp recitals and art collecting.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nisegai
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nisegai is a Gai look alike, which the SF Kosmo gang uses sometimes to pose
as Gai during battle. A professional doppelganger must be very committed to
his work, since they must give up their lives to become someone else. Nisegai
became Gai's doppelganger at the age of 10, and nobody remembers his true
identity. His motto is: "You must fool your co-workers before you can fool
your enemies."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Black Riki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Black Riki appears to be Riki's double, but in truth he is Riki's younger
brother Saburo who wants to take revenge on the Makishi family for abandoning
him when he was just a baby. When Black Riki discovers that Riki is the star
of a hit videogame (a dream of Black Riki's for years) he snaps and goes
looking for Riki.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stevens
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stevens is a soldier of the 16th battalion, a special military unit dubbed
the Yamada killer troop. Well 'troop' would be more accurate, as Stevens is
in fact the only soldier in the 16th battalion! He is an expert in all forms
of armed and unarmed combat and is equipped with state of the art weaponry.
He is completely dedicated to his missions and would rather die then fail.
His unit is one of the most feared in the entire galaxy, despite consisting
of only a single soldier.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miss Weather
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miss Weather presents the weather forecast at a local TV station. She is very
successful, and is considering starting her own business since she is
currently in such great demand! In the past, she had a unique experience when
she performed as a singer together with two colleagues from the local TV
station. Once she was involved in a scandal surrounding an actor. Today she
regrets a little that she picked her career over love.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bitter Student
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This guy is an impoverished student. He studies in a rural branch of the
school so he can keep a close eye on his many brothers and sisters, whom he
looks after. His parents divorced after a big fight and abandoned their
children! He is so concerned for their mental welfare that he lies to his
brothers and sisters and tells them their parents were eaten by Guwanji! He
dreams of becoming a famous scientist and someday traveling into space to
conduct his research.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Montgomery
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Montgomery is a sheep from Mongolia who speaks like a narrator in a pulp
fiction novel. He is mostly harmless, but will ramble all day long if you
let him.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Representative of Gimunema
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
He is a representative of Gimunema. He is completely convinced that Gimunema
is the finest food on earth and the solution to the world's food shortage.
His strength is his hobby because he loves to eat Gimunema on rice. His true
strength only emerges when he eats Gimunema on rice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harumage
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harumage is the secret head of Dan Star's shadow government. He rules cruelly
with an iron fist, and is even feared by government officials. He is so
powerful he could trigger a war by simply snapping his fingers. He dreams of
marrying a geisha called Otomi and loves Cuban cigars.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yomeiri Maske
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
He is the star of a popular kids TV show about a hero who saves the day by
halting secret weddings organized by an evil wedding syndicate! He saves the
day by spoiling the celebrations, normally by pretending to be the bride at
the altar. Weird!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sukedachi Zukin
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zukin is one of the biggest stars of the Eihoh film production company that
was huge during the early Showa ages. He has been performing on state since
he was a one year old and has become an excellent actor. At the age of 30 he
suffered from a severe illness and his career declined. But a few years later
he managed a miraculous comeback. He takes acting very seriously. When asked
to participate in a TV advertisement for a popular brand of cup noodles he
was so insulted that he stabbed the person responsible to death.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Koa Zo
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Koa Zo is a sentient AI being created by a division of the SF Kosmo Gang
called Core to manage different parts of the gang's computer infrastructure.
Koa Zo is so advanced he has developed basic human language skills and
emotions. Currently, there are around five different characters at Core, all
of whom are all completely useless and offer no resistance to Riki and Mami
at all.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Koa Mi
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Koa Mi is one of the most useless characters at Core. She loves occultism,
and her hobbies include witchcraft and magic. She sees the future and past of
everyone she meets, even if she doesn't want to.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Koa Susumu
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another useless Core character. At the end of the Edo era, as an incompetent
Samurai, he believed in his sword and fought against the new wind of the
Meiji era. Unfortunately, he wasn't a particularly good fighter and didn't
help much. He does not admit to himself that he is weak, so instead he claims
that all his enemies are unusually strong.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Neo Koa
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another useless character at Core. Someone at Core asked the question: "Can a
cat become a guard dog?" So Neo Koa was designed at great length and great
expense. But it is, and always will be, a cat, and thus doesn't give a damn
about what is going on around it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Core King
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Core King is one of the most deadly enemies in Bangai-O. Just kidding.
Like his Core companions, he too is completely useless. In reality the Core
King is the much feared King of Darkness who landed secretly in Ugamo
sometime in 1999. He was supposed to land on the Vesuv but missed. He loves
joke telephone calls which he feels inspired to make at least once a week.

Just to reiterate, that is what it says in the booklet, I didn't come up with
those desctriptions.

Firing Modes
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Riki Mode    - This firing mode shoots off homing missiles that will attempt
to hit anything that happens to be near them. Good for open
              areas.

Mami Mode    - Fires off ricocheting lasers, that will bounce off walls until
they disappear. Good for closed in areas that allow for lasers
to bounce all over the place.

Scatter Bomb - The scatter bomb fires off anywhere from 40 to 400 of the
selected firing mode weapon. The amount of bullets are
determined by the danger that you are currently in. The faster
bullets are moving at you, and the closer they are the more

4. Game Basics
=============================================================================

_____________________________________________________________________________

The Game
_____________________________________________________________________________

The basic premise of the game is to fight your way through the 44 levels, and
face off against the boss at the end of each of those levels.  It's rather
straight forward gameplay, and it's all about how you complete your mission
that makes this game so good.

_____________________________________________________________________________

The Game Screen
_____________________________________________________________________________

The screen contains many different numbers, and doodles along the top and
bottom of the screen.  Along the top you have your health bar with a picture
of the character whose attack you are using.  Above the health is your
current score for that level.

Next to your health is the explosion counter, which displays the number of
explosions that are happening at that exact moment.

At the bottom left corner of the screen is your scatter bomb meter.  The
number shows how many scatter bombs you have and the small meter shows how
many more explosions you need to earn another scatter bomb.

Next to the scatter bomb meter is your time limit for the level.  It's not
really a timer because you can take all the time in the world to beat
a level, but if you do run out of time, for every second over the limit you
lose 10000 points from your final score on the level, so it's wise not to
go over the limit.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Game Objects
_____________________________________________________________________________

There's lots to see and collect in this game, and here's where I tell you all
about everything you'll see.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fruit
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whenever you blow something up it will leave you fruit behind, and depending
on the amount of explosions at the time, the fruit will get better.

______________
Orange - 50pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are your basic fruit, and it's what you'll always get if you don't get
lots of explosions.

______________
Apple - 100pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Now your points are doubled, and these will appear when the explosion counter
is above 50.

_______________
Banana - 500pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Now the points are getting high.  When the explosions counter is at, or above
100, you'll start to make bananas.

___________________
Pineapple - 1000pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These things require you to have 200 or more explosions at once before
they'll appear, but the points they give make it more then worth it.

______________________
Watermelon - 10,000pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The best way to get points.  When you get 400 or more explosions, these
puppies begin to appear, and there's nothing better then filling the screen
with these, and then grabbing them all filling the screen with 10000pts
messages.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the game you will see a fair amount of different enemies, each with it's
own attack and maneuverability.

___________________
Red Robots - 200pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The basic red robots are your most common enemy.  They can fly around just
like you, but they only shoot a single bullet at a time, and their rate of
fire is incredibly slow.

____________________
Blue Robots - 500pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The blue robots are nothing like your red enemies because they cannot fly,
but rather hop around, so they can't reach you if you are above them.  Their
rate of fire is far faster then the red robots, though, and can easily fill
the screen with enemy fire if you have a bunch of them on screen at once.

______________________
Purple Robots - 400pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are your upgraded red robots, yielding more points, but also firing off
far more artillery then your basic red enemy.  They fly around just like the
red guys, they just shoot a lot more, and have more health.

______________________
Yellow Robots - 500pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The strongest regular enemy you'll find in the game.  These guys are
basically an upgraded form of the blue guys, just like purple is to red.
These guys can't fly, but their rate of fire is incredibly high, and if you
get caught in their stream of bullets, you can take quite a bit of damage.

______________________________
Orange Striped Turret - 100pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These turrets fire off a single homing missile at a time, and are easy to
take care off.  Just make sure not to fly right in front of one because
you'll likely take a hit from it.

_____________________________
White Striped Turret - 100pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These turrets fire off a single bullet like the enemy robots.  They're no
problem except for when they are in high numbers, and can hit you from
every side at once, but that's always a good time to release a scatter bomb.

______________________
Orange Turret - 400pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These turrets sit on the wall, and fire off a bunch of homing missiles which
can hurt if you aren't paying attention to them.  They also provide a very
good source of scatter bomb charging because all of the missiles home in on
you.

____________________
Grey Turret - 300pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These turrets sit on the wall and fire off a bunch of regular bullets.
They're not much of a problem, just use them to get some good scatter bombs
out.

______________________________
Spinning White Turret - 500pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are those turrets that sit on the wall and right before they shoot,
they lift up and spin around.  They shoot out tons of regular bullets, but
you barely ever see these things anyway.

_______________________________
Floating Orange Turret - 300pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are those turrets that just sit in the middle of nowhere and shoot out
dozens of bullets at once.  Just be careful not to be too close when they
fire, or you can get hit by a lot of bullets at once, although you can use
them to get out a powerful scatter bomb.

______________________
Flame Thrower - 100pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These guys are the best source of getting a max scatter bomb.  If you go and
sit inside the flame and launch a scatter bomb right when the flame would hit
you, you'll launch off 400 missiles, and get an incredibly high explosion
count, and watermelons along with it.  If you time it right, you can get the
bomb off without even getting hit.  You can even get off multiple max scatter
bombs using these guys without actually killing anyone, which means an
explosion count of well over 500, and then when things start dieing
watermelons will be popping out of everywhere.

_______________
Lasers - 100pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These aren't really enemies, since they just sit there and shoot out a laser
in the same direction until you destroy them.  Just watch out for when you
first run across them because they don't start shooting their lasers until
they've been on the screen for a second, and that can surprise you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll come across a few items in the game that'll help you in your grand
quest to vanquish the mighty SF Kosmo Gang!  I need to stop doing that.

________________________
Blue Health Box - 500pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These little guys replenish your health meter slightly and can be found at
dispensers, just lying around on certain levels, or for every 100th explosion
you make one will appear.  When they are in their crates, destroying the
crate is worth the 100 pts, and getting the health when your health is full
awards you with the 500pts.

_________________________
Red Health Box - 1,000pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These health boxes fill up your health bar completely, but are only found on
a few levels.  Destroying the crate they are in yields 100pts, and getting
the power up when your health is full gives you 1000pts.

_____________
Invincibility
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These things make your ship invincible for a couple seconds or so by
creating a shield around Bangai-O that destroys anything it touches.  You can
get these from the V crates lying around on levels, when you release a 400
max scatter bomb when your health is in the red, and the game is making that
annoying beeping sound.  If you're going for score, this can really wreck
your explosion count and cost you thousands of value points, so you need to
be careful.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misc Objects
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

These aren't enemies, or something to collect, they're just there.

_____________________
Dispensers - pts vary
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These things sit on walls and create enemies or objects when you fly near
them.  They can be used to fill the screen with enemies to give you lots of
points, or to create a real problem for you.  You decide what you want to do
with them.  I call them spawners all the time as well, so if you're getting
confused, well now you know.

______________________________
Houses, and scenery - pts vary
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Every level is littered with buildings to destroy and the points for doing
so ranges from 10 to 500, so it's wise to destroy everything you can.

____________________________________
Mines - 20pts, 50pts, 100pts, 500pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Mines are thrown into certain levels and can be used to your advantage.  Once
a mine is shot, it explodes.  If other mines are hit by the initial explosion
it can create a chain reaction that causes lots of mines to explode.  Mines
come in 4 colors, orange, blue, green, and yellow and the explosion get
bigger with each color in that order and are worth 20, 50, 100, and 500pts in
that same order.

____________________
Spiked Mines - 40pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These mines blow up just like the regular mines, but they are bigger in size,
and can be made at dispensers.  They also hurt you if you run into them
because they explode if you do.

______________
Crates - 50pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Crates are just all over the place in the game, and should really be included
in the houses and scenery, but you see these so much that they get there own
little section, plus they aren't attached to the walls, so if there's nothing
below them, they'll fall down.  I call them boxes all the time throughout my
walkthrough, but I doubt you'd get confused anyway.

____________
Metal Crates
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are like regular crates except you can't destroy them, and they are
often positioned in a way that if you aren't careful you can lock yourself
in, or block off certain passages.

__________________________
Small Metal Crates - 10pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are those little metal crates that are about 1/4 the size of the
regular one.  These ones can also be destroyed if you set off a mine and the
explosion hits them.

________________________
Green Dot Things - 10pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These green dot things are like destroyable walls.  It just takes one shot
to destroy one of these.  They come in white as well, and I don't think that
there's a difference between the two.

_______________________
Blue Dot Things - 10pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are quite similar to the green dot things except they only take one
shot to destroy, and they don't stop your bullet when they are hit, so you
can end up taking out an entire row of them in a single shot.

_____
Blobs
¯¯¯¯¯
I don't know what to call these things.  They sit around and spin in circles
and will absorb any bullet that hits them.  They absorb these bullets and
grow, until they explode into a whole bunch of bullets that keep shooting in
all directions for a few seconds.  Good for getting powerful scatter bombs,
or getting smacked around if you're close to the middle of the blob, which
often means instant death.

__________________
Blue Boxes - 10pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are those little hollow boxes that are found on certain levels, and
allow your missiles (not lasers), and enemy fire to pass through, but not
you, or the enemies.  These can be destroyed by explosions from mines.

___________________
Green Boxes - 10pts
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Just like the blue boxes except you can't shoot through them at all, only the
enemies' fire will pass through these, so be careful.  These can be destroyed
by explosions from mines.

_______________
Info Satellites
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There's one of these on every level (for the most part), and if you run into
one, M or her little sister will talk to you, and sometimes give you little
hints on how to play the game.  You can turn off the conversations started
with these in the options menu.  If you want to know what is said at all of
these, there's a nice game script FAQ at wwwgamefaqs.com that you could check
out.

_________
Red Doors
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Red doors are passages that open and close as you progress through a level.
If you fly through an open red door then all the open red doors in the level
close and all the closed doors open.  If you fly through another red door,
they will all switch back.

__________
Blue Doors
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Unlike red doors, these doors stay open for good, once you open them that is.
Blue doors won't open until you destroy a certain enemy, or enemies in the
area.

=============================================================================
5. Tips
=============================================================================

- Before I start, make sure you're using the ABXY control style, otherwise
you'll have a hell of a time dodging and shooting everything at the same
time so go and change it now.

- Using the counter attack
If you don't know, the power of your counter attack is determined by the
amount of danger you are currently in, so the more fire power headed your
way the more missiles you launch, and ultimately, the more points you'll
  get.

- To get the most points, I suggest you try not to attack anything unless
you can't get around without getting shot, so that you can get dozens of
bullets headed your way to unleash 400 missiles and then collect your
  pineapples and watermelons.

- Getting points
To get lots of points, find the dispensers that make those blue robots
that can't fly, and just sit around and make lots of them appear. After a
while you can get tons of them on screen, and when they're all shooting
it's easy to get multiple 400 missile scatter bomb attacks out to get tons
of watermelons and tons of points.

- You can also use those warp pod majigers, to just sit there and get a
couple hundred points every time something warps in, although it would
probably be better to allow a couple things to warp in so you can get some
  better fruit then oranges.

- At the end of each level, you're also awarded points for the most
explosions on screen at once, 100 points for each explosion, and 100,000
points for making it through a level without getting hit once, so it's
wise to try and make it through a level without getting hit to get the
  highest scores possible.

- Bosses
Most of the bosses are simple, but for the ones who play more like you,
with homing missiles and scatter bombs, the best way to defeat them is to
use your own scatter bomb to make them use their scatter bomb, but make
sure you're far enough away so that you can pull out a second scatter
bomb, to hit the boss with a massive amount of missiles, as long as
you're using Riki mode that is.  The game also displays how many scatter
bombs the boss has in the bottom right corner, so you can just wait until
he has none to use yours safely, but you won't get as many explosions that
  way.

=============================================================================
6. Walkthrough - Basically just how to get the most points
=============================================================================

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 01 - The planet Dan Star. Your mission begins here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To get the most points on this level, fly straight to one of the two turrets
in the far corners of the level while blowing up everything you can on the
way.  When you get to a turret, use it to charge up a scatter bomb to clear
out all the buildings in the small area and quickly grab it all.  Next fly to
the other turret and do the same thing.  Then you should fly straight to
where the spawner popping out full health boxes is and just collect those for
1,000 pts each until the time is almost out and then head over to the boss.
___________
Boss - Sabu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There's nothing special happening here.  You can simply keep shooting towards
him and win, but to make it even quicker, let a stream of his bullets get as
close to you as you can and unleash your scatter bomb to get a fair amount of
explosions, and some fruit if you left some buildings alive in the small area
you fight in.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 02 - Cyber Command Center. Hi-Tech Carnage!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's not much you can do on this level.  The best thing to do is to make
sure you blow everything up, and collect all the fruit there is.

In the first room with a couple enemies in it, try to get them surrounding
you and firing at you.  Unleash a counter attack in Mami mode when your
surrounded by as much fire as you can take, and then you'll make a couple
apples and bananas to add to your collection, just make sure you don't get
hit.

After you fight your way through a few more lasers, there's another small
area where you can get a few apples using your scatter bomb, just make sure
to get all the fruit there is.
___________
Boss - Sabu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
It's Sabu again.  This time he just shoots more bullets then before.  Do the
same thing as the first fight.  Let him shoot a stream of bullets straight at
you and then fly beside them and get off a powerful Riki scatter bomb, and
then release a Mami bomb as fast as you can after.  Hopefully Sabu won't die
and you'll make a bunch of pineapples in the small area which you should
collect, and then finish off the wounded Sabu.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 03 - Moon Base Alpha. Defeat the Robot Armada.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's not much that can be done on this level.  First thing you should do
is try to get all the enemies to be as close to you as possible without
getting hit, so you can get a high explosion count when you use a Mami bomb,
and some quality fruits.  After that all you can really do is sit around a
spawner and feed of the robots that come out of it.

You should also try not to get hit, as the 100,000 points you get will likely
be more then half the points you're going to get on this level
___________
Boss - Sabu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Yes, it's Sabu again, and yes he just shoots more bullets this time.  This
time around though, you've got lots more to blow up.  You're best bet is to
get between one of the two sets of bridges and get him to shoot a stream of
bullets at you which you will use to launch a very powerful scatter bomb in
Mami mode, to pretty much destroy everything on the half of the area you are
in.  You may want to weaken the bridges first by shooting them a few times to
make sure they'll blow up.  Just repeat this on the other side, and you'll
get quite a few bananas because bridges blow up into lots of fruit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 04 - The Space Cemetery. Plenty of fruit for the picking!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This level offers the first chance you're likely to see your scatter bomb at
full power.  First thing you should do is shoot just a few boxes below you,
and drop down.  Now release a scatter bomb in Mami mode and don't stop firing
and you'll score yourself a few apples.  Now just blow everything up around
you and get all the fruit, but leave that area with the large amount of boxes
for now.

Now you'll want to head down one of the side paths with the robots trapped
between boxes to make your way to the small area below, instead of going
through the large cluster of boxes in the middle.  When you get to the small
room try to blow up all the little dots holding the boxes up so they'll fall
down, but try not to destroy anything else.  You can get a fairly good Mami
bomb off (fly around to the other side of the boxes if there are no robots
to shoot at you), and you'll be able to get lots of bananas from all those
boxes you let fall.

Now you can just clean everything up before heading to the boss (note that
passage just before the bosses room to get a few hundred more points), and
then head through the red door and head straight to the boss.
___________
Boss - Sabu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Guess what, it's Sabu again!  This time, he shoots even more, oOo.  Before
you start the fight you should go and take out those two turrets on either
side of this area because you might forget about them and get shot, losing
out on your 100,000 point bonus.  Now, get into the fight and try to get him
to use his scatter bomb without destroying to many buildings around you, and
then unleash a Mami scatter bomb to counter.  You should destroy pretty much
everything and get lots of pineaples and bananas.  Now just make sure you've
gotten all the fruit and buildings out of the way, and try to get him to
scatter bomb once more, and this time use a Riki scatter bomb to counter with
a possible 400 missile max and get a major amount of explosions for plenty of
bonus points.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 05 - Milky Way Station. All CORE bosses are harmless!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's actually more to this level then you would think.  To get the most
points out of this level, don't shoot anything at first.  Let all the enemies
surround you and try to get into the middle of the area, and then unleash a
powerful Mami scatter bomb, to clear out the entire area hopefully, and then
go and collect the fruit.  Remember, get as close to the center of the room
as you can, so you blow everything up at the same time.

Now move into the next room, and repeat the same process as before, and you
should get a whole bunch more fruit to build up your score, and make sure you
didn't get hit because you'll want that extra 100,000 points.

If you left any of the spawners alive you can feed off the robots that come
out of them to get a couple thousand more points before heading over to the
boss of the level.
_____________
Boss - Koa Zo
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Umm, as the title of the level implies, all CORE bosses are harmless.  This
guy just sits there and does absolutely nothing.  The only thing you have to
do is shoot him, and if you have all the buildings around him still in tact,
you can use a Mami scatter bomb to get about 2 apples, nothing big.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 06 - Base under construction! Warning: Men at work!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right away, go to the top of the first area, and try to get of a good Mami
scatter bomb, and get the fruit.  Next, go and clear out all the red robot
spawners, and turrets, but leave the spawner at the bottom that makes the
blue guys.

When everything is clear, keep flying around the small island in the middle
to make a whole bunch of blue robots fill up the bottom area, and once you
have as many as you can handle, try to get a 400 max Mami scatter bomb out
down there, and possibly a second one if there are still tons of bullets
flying at you.  Hopefully you'll make yourself some watermelons.

Next, just go into the next area and kill everything and then head straight
to the boss after the red doors.  You can kill those two turrets if you like,
but leave everything else.
_______________
Boss - Hashioka
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This boss makes it very easy to get off a 400 max scatter bomb, just sit
between the two drills and launch one, and you'll get it.  To use this to
your advantage, get in the center of the room, and try to launch a Mami
scatter bomb right in the center of the room between the two drills to pretty
much destroy everything.  Next, repeat with a Riki mode to get a whole bunch
of explosions for more bonus points, after you collect all your fruit that
is.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 07 - Moon Base Beta. Different shots penetrate different barriers!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

First thing you should do is fly straight up and kill everything and get all
the fruit using Mami mode, so as not to destroy anything on the other side of
the blue boxes.  Next fly down and use a Mami mode scatter bomb in that tight
space by the bridge, and hopefully get some apples, and just kill whatever
survives the attack.

Now you can fly down where the bridge used to be and use another Mami scatter
bomb in this small area too.  Now you can fly over two where those two
turrets surrounded by blue boxes are to get off a good Riki scatter bomb off
to hopefully destroy everything around the boxes.  Collect everything you
can, but don't go right of those boxes, you'll want to save what's over there
for a little later.

You should head back left and fly up by the info satellite, and then head
over to where all the enemies and turrets up there are sitting and get off a
good Mami bomb, to get some more good fruit.  Now you can continue right into
a fairly large room, and you should be able to get off two good Mami bombs in
here to get some more much needed fruit before heading on.

When that room is clear head into that small area surrounded by spikey mines
and metal crates.  Kill all the buildings and turrets in that small space,
and then shoot the top mine and the bottom mine as quickly as you can, so you
make as many explosions at once as you can.  Now fly into the next area and
keep launching scatter bombs whenever necessary and collect all the fruit. If
you leave the spawner spitting out blue robots you can, once again, just sit
there and give your score a little boost.

Keep moving when that room is clear and kill those two turrets in the next
area and then let the dispenser fill the screen from top to bottom with
mines.  When the tower of mines is complete, strafe either from top to
bottom, or bottom to top while shooting the mines to get a few apples.  Now
simply kill and collect what's left and then head off to the boss.
_____________
Boss - Koa Zo
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
It's the same boss from stage 5, and just like last time, he just sits there
and talks.  Just kill him, and end the level.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 08 - The Hollow Asteroid. Attack!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right off the bat quickly fly left and use that turret that's sitting there
to get off a good Mami bomb and then simply clear out that room and collect
everything.  Now you can simply continue down and left destroying everything
that's in your way, and use scatter bombs whenever you want.  You won't get
much fruit down at the bottom, but get whatever you can.  Like pretty much
every level in the game, you can use one of the spawner creating blue robots
to pump your score by just sitting there and killing them the second they
come out.

Anyway, you should be underneath a long line of mines and mini crates with a
turret above them.  Try to time it so that when you set off the first mine
you can fly up to the turret and release a good Riki or Mami bomb right away
with that turret because you'll get better fruit with the added explosions
from those mines and crates.

After that room is clear you can head right until you see some lasers and
just use another scatter bomb and destroy and collect everything around the
boss, just be careful not to start the boss fight while collecting the fruit
because her lasers can be tricky and hit you when you think your safe.  You
can start the fight once you're sure you've blown up everything you can.
_________
Boss - 86
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This will be the strongest boss you've had yet to face.  If you're not
careful she can kill you really quickly, but you can also kill her really
quickly.  What you need to do is just sit there and let her shoot a stream of
lasers straight at you and then you use a Riki scatter bomb to get a max
power attack, and well over 200 explosions for plenty of bonus points, as
well as doing a lot of damage to 86.  Just keep at it and try not to
get hit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 09 - The Explosion Store. Shopping with a bang!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a pain using red robots to collect watermelons, but it must be done.
This is going to be very similar to the strategy used for stage 25, but I'll
explain it here as well.

Right away fly to the right and look for that little island near the top of
level covered with turrets and housing a full health box.  Blow up those
turrets and their spawners and then fly back to the left of the screen.

Upon reaching the left side of the level fly up to the top of the level.
Next fly to the right until you get to the island you just cleared and fly
down and around it.  Now fly back to the starting point, and continue flying
around in this exact pattern.  When doing this, don't dash when you're going
by the spawners or you won't make very many robots spawn.  You can also shoot
when your doing this to clear your path.  Don't worry about killing the
enemies since there are so many anyway.

After arriving at that island after doing this for a while fly back about
halfway, and then fly down into the fray of enemies.  If you're good at
dodging bullets and getting into very tight situations you can get off a max
Mami bomb and make some watermelons.  Repeat this until you're running low on
time and go over to the boss.
____________________
Boss - Tasogare Deka
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Nothing special about this guy.  He does shoot off one powerful beam which
will give you a max bomb if you launch one when you're right next to the beam
so do so with a Riki bomb and he shouldn't last long.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 10 - The Bomb Maze. Avoid the deadly explosions!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not much I can tell you about this level.  First, you don't want to get hit,
the 100,000pts will be a nice addition to your score.  Second, watch out for
all those yellow mines in this level, they blow up big.

OK, in the first area, don't bother with the top row of mines, just shoot
angeld Mami shots around to clear the mines from a distance, and then proceed
to the two turrets behind the doorway.  Fly up in front of them and dash down
when they shoot so they will blow up those mines for you.  Now fly back up
and dash in there and blow up the mines from the top or bottom and protect
yourself from any bullets they turrets may shoot.

Now you can get a good Mami bomb in the next room, but just collect the good
fruit, don't bother with oranges, or apples that are out of the way.

Anyway, when you get to the room with the blue blob thinger, fly to the top
left corner of the room and pump it up until it explodes to launch a good
Mami bomb and make yourself some bananas.  Make sure you get them, and kill
all the robots in the area and collect the healths above and below the room.

Now make your way to the final area, but this is where you're going to be
maxing out your score.  Those two spawners on that wall right before the boss
can be used to get quite a large amount of points.  When you fly in there try
to position yourself above the exit point of the two spawners and hold up to
keep yourself steady while you keep firing down.  Just do this until there's
barely anytime left then move over and launch another Mami bomb to make sure
you don't get hit by any bullets and start the fight.

Level 13 - Racing the fuse! Hurry or you'll get stuck!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can't get a very high score on this level, but that doesn't mean you
shouldn't try to get the best score you can.

Since you have to race against the mines your going to have to be quick about
getting through this level.  So first fly up and set off the first mine and
head into the area behind.  Quickly kill everything you see and only grab the
fruit that is in the way.  When you get to the big rooms you can get off a
powerful bomb and get some apples, and possibly bananes.  Be quick about all
of this.

When you get to the end of the first run, right before where the wall will
form is a spawner making those tough buildings that are worth 500pts.  You
can sit there and keep blowing those up and fly through the small pass right
before it gets closed off to get a couple thousand points.  You may want to
play through once to figure out how long it takes for those metal crates to
fall and block your way.

After that fly down, but don't set off the next fuse yet.  Clear out the all
the rooms before the red door using bombs when you can to get more fruit.
Then head back to the fuse and set it off.

You're going to have to be quick now.  Just fly through the last stretch as
fast as you can while blowing up everything around you and getting all the
fruit possible with what little time you have.

Hopefully you didn't get hit doing all that, because the 100000pt bonus will
make up for more then half the score you're going to get.  So, if everything
went well you'll be up against the boss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's a lot of lasers, and that can pose a problem since it's another level
where your score is going to be pretty low no matter what you do, so you're
going to want to get the no hit bonus

Now, to earn that highscore, take the right path first.  Dash over to the
highest laser emplacement and try to get off a good Mami bomb, around 200
or so.  You can then fly down and try to get another good bomb off, and
everything should have died.  Now collect all the fruit you just made and
head through the passage at the bottom.  Quickly dash through the small area
taking out all the lasers you can from the right side.

After the right side is clear head over to the left side, and use the first
bunch of lasers for another good Mami bomb.  Now head down and use another
bomb, but be careful not to destroy the spawner with it.  You'll want to kill
and collect everything except for the spawner making the red guys.  Like
usual, you're going to use that spawner to collect points by positioning
yourself to kill the guys the second they come out.  Once again, just do this
until you have just enough time to finish the rest of the level.

Ok, so now that you're done sitting there you can go and get all the lasers
from the left side, and then quickly make your way back to the starting point
and dash down towards the boss who is surrounded by a couple turrets.  Use
them for a good bomb, get the fruit and start the boss fight.

Level 19 - Non-stop Destruction! Free path selection!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This level is a lot of fun.  It's full of those little dots and that's not an
understatement.  Every single open spot of the level has a dot filling it.
It sounds like this would make it hard to get around, but the level is
littered with invincibility icons to make getting around a lot easier, and
very healthy for your score.

As usual, there's more to getting a high score then just killing everything.
You'll need to use your invincibility and the mines in the level to get over
400 hundred explosions and then quickly fly by any enemies or buildings you
can to get watermelons.  There's not much I can say about the level, since I
have no definite way of going about it.  Just remember where the mines and
the invincibility icons are and get as many pineapples and watermelons as you
can as fast as you can.

Other then that, you should have noticed that you have a very large time
limit on this level which means you can probably milk a spawner somewhere for
a ton of points, and there just happens to be one that's making full health
icons in the bottom right corner of the level.  How to take advantage of this
is to fly through this area while invincible and kill all the turrets in the
area without getting too close to the spawner.

After you're done flying around the level with all the invincibility icons
you can go and sit there for the rest of the time limit.  Just make a ledge
out the dots that is even with the top of the spawner and sit to the left of
the spawner while constantly shooting right.  You can blow up sixteen
containers safely before collecting the icons without worry of having any
dissapear.  Just do this until there are 50 seconds or so left and head to
the boss.  I know it's a very long time, and it's very boring, but if you
want a really high score on this level then it's really the only way to do
it.

get off powerful Mami bombs to get a high explosion explosion count and a

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 23 - It's raining robots! Did you bring your umbrella?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the craziest level you've seen up to this point.  There are tons of
spawners sitting at the top of the level, and enemies literally do rain down
on you while you make your way to the boss.

Anyway, the secret here is to blow up everything below the line of spawners
that create the yellow robots, while leaving all the dots holding the
spawners up intact.  I mean it, you have to blow up everything below
(everything, leave nothing) and nothing above the spawners.  The easiest way
to go about doing this is to dash up and move to the side just a little while
constantly shooting lasers straight up.  Doing this you can drive your way
straight into the area where the blue robots spawn.  Just sit there and shoot
at the bullets the blue robots shoot and let off a powerful bomb when there
are more bullets then you can stop for an easy 400 max and a couple
watermelons.

It's tricky now, you need to quickly blow up all the first 3 rows, although
there shouldn't be much left of them.  Go for the little dots that hold them
up since they take one shot to kill, and go down a lot faster then the
spawners.  The real tricky part is taking out all the spawners creating the
purple robots without destroying any of the dots holding up the spawners
making the yellow robots.  One way is to fly up there after blowing up all
the spawners making metal crates, and then fly down so the spawners are off
screen and keep launching Riki bombs.  It takes a very long time, and isn't
entirely effective, but it works.

Another way (the way I do it) is to leave all the spawners making metal
metal crates alive and blow up one and fly between them and the purple robot
spawners, and launch Mami bombs until I blow up some spawners.  You move
back and forth trying to destroy only the purple spawners, so try not to let
off any overly powerful bombs, or you'll end up blowing everything up.  It
could take you a couple of tries to figure it out, but once you get it, it's
definitely worth it.

Ok, so if you've blown up all the spawners, you still want to make sure
you've killed all the robts that can fly (red and purple ones) since they
will make sure to ruin everything you just worked so hard for.  The problem
is that enemy bullets can destroy those little dots, so if they start
shooting at you they can end up hitting some of the dots holding up the
yellow robots spawners, which will let the row of spawners above to start
working and ruin everything.  Just make sure you destroy everything below
the yellow spawners before proceding, except any blue or yellow robots
trapped at the bottom of the level.

Once you've done what I've told you, just fly back and forth and yellow
robots while poor down by the dozens.  Don't shoot them just let them fall.
Now, after flying back and forth for 40 seconds or so fly back down to the
bottom of the level and there will be tons of guys down there waiting for
you.  You can constantly get off 400 max Mami bombs now and the watermellons
will be yours for the taking.  Just keep doing this until you feel you don't
have enough time anymore and then go and head for the boss.  Just fly staight
through the yellow spawners like you did at the start of the level and use
purple guys to quickly kill everything and begin the boss battle.  You can
easily gets millions of points on this level if you do this correctly.

you how you want to go about finishing him off.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss - Koa Susumu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 25 - Shadow Battle. The Dark Reflection.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the new craziest level you've yet to see (actually it's probably
the craziest level in the game, and the riskiest one when going for score).

It's actually kind of tricky to get a very high score on this level, and
you'll probably end up dying many times trying.  The thing is red robots are
constantly coming at you from every direction all the time, but they don't
shoot enough bullets to get off 400 max bombs, or do they.

Ok, the trick here is to fly straight to the right or left of the level right
away.  Upon reaching the side where all the spawners are quickly fly straight
up until you reach the top of the level, creating tons of robots behind you.
Now quickly fly to the left or right, depends on which way you went to begin
with.  Fly a little lower then the distance that the robots fall from the
spawners, otherwise they'll fall right in your face and really piss you off.

Right before you get to the boss fly down a certain distance, use the
background to judge how far you fly down because you'll be doing this over
and over again and you'll want to go down the same distance every time.
Don't go too far down, but far enough so that all the guys you just made
won't be getting in your way too much.  After flying down fly back to the
side again, but this time keep shooting in front of you to take out any
robots that happen to get in your way.  Then fly up and shoot up when you
reach the side of the level, and then repeat flying to the side and again
shoot in front of you to clear the way.

You'll want to fly around a total of two times, and on the third trip around
stop about halfway through the trip along the top of the screen by all the
spawners and fly down shooting to clear the way a certain distance. I'm not
sure how far you should fly down, but you don't want to be blowing up any of
the spawners so fly far enough down so you don't.

Now you will be surround be lots and lots of red robots, so try and fill the
screen with bullets, you can shoot at the bullets until there are a lot
around you and then unleash with a 400 max Mami bomb, and then wait a second
a get another powerful bomb off to kill off as many remaing guys as you can.
Now fly around and collect watermelons and health, you don't need to worry
about other fruit just try to get all the watermelons and fill up your
health.  Release Riki bombs while doing this whenever you're in danger, and
then repeat everything over and over again until you have 100, or 50 seconds
left, however much time you think you'll need for the boss.

The reason you want to keep flying in the same spots when going around in
circles is so you don't keep blowing up all the spawners.  Instead you'll
just be shooting where the spawner was originally before you blew them up.
Also, you only want to go around 2 and a half times, otherwise you'll be
making way more robots then you need and you'll just be wasting your time.

It took me a long time to get this to work, but it certainly works, and you
could possibly get 5 million or more points doing this.  Just keep at it, and
eventually you'll understand what I was saying up there, and you'll survive
doing it sooner or later.  Just so you know, you will end up taking quite a
few bulles when you stop to release your first bomb.

Boss - Black Riki
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The hardest boss in the game, other then the final one, and if you just did
everything I just said, losing here can be very infuriating.  He is always
releasing homing missiles, and when he launches a bomb he launches hundreds
of them.  Don't worry though, he only has 3 bombs, and he doesn't charge up
after that, and you can make him waste all 3 bombs at the very beginning of
the fight.  Just launch a Riki bomb while you're close to him, but before
you've started the fight and then quickly start the fight.  All the missles
will home in on him, and he will usually launch all 3 of his bombs to
counter your one bomb.  Now just dash away and keep firing at him until all
his missiles from the bombs have dissapeared.

Now it's simply a matter of wearing him down.  You can get powerful bombs
off from his thick stream of bullets, just make sure you're not too close to
him or he'll rush in and take you down without the help of any bombs if
you're weak enough.  Just keep dashing away, and keep shooting at him, and
you'll take him down eventually.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 26 - The Vice. Caution: Falling objects.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

For such a simple level I bet you didn't think it would be possible to get a
score of over 1 million points did you?  Well I can assure you it's possible,
and it's not that hard either.

Quickly fly to the top of the screen and take out all the spawners creating
metal crates.  Now fly back to the right side of the screen and fly back and
forth between the spawners making spikey mines until all 3 towers reach the
top of the screen (try not to get stuck in there, or you're going to mess
everything up).  Now fly to the other side of the level, and repeat with the
3 spawners on this side and get yourself trapped between the two towers that
will put you in the same spot as the boss.  Now dash straight down at him
while shooting a constant stream of lasers and start the fight.
___________
Boss - Sabu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
It's Sabu, my favorite!  If you haven't figured out how Sabu works yet, then
there may be no hope for you, for everyone else he just shoots more then he
used to, lots more.  Anyway that stream of lasers you were shooting at him
should cause him to release a bomb which is very powerful, so counter with a
Mami bomb.  He should end up countering your bomb with another so counter his
with another as well, and then dash to the right and keep shooting to the
right as well.

If you did this right, most of the mines should have blown up and left
watermelons behind, so quickly pick up all the watermelons by flying up and
down the columns.  Just get the watermelons, don't bother with the other
fruits since you they will dissapear before you can get all of them.

Once the fruit collection is over just kill him like you do any other boss.
You should have boss fights like this perfected by now.

Level 30 - Fruit Sale! Bangai-O under fire!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will likely never see as many constant explosions as you can on this
level.  The trick here is to quickly fly around the level and then just sit
in the middle of the level and keep launching Riki bombs to keep killing the
enemy robots that will not stop spawning unless you destroy the spawners.
You can just sit there constantly launching scatter bombs and the screen will
eventually fill up with robots and you can get thousands of points without
even moving, which I recommend because trying to collect the fruits will
likely result in your death.

After doing this for a long time you can try to get off a poewrful Mami bomb
or two and there will be tons of watermelons for you to collect.  Then just
blow up all the little bombs surrounding the area so you can clear the path
to the boss and then head over to him.

him.  No worries here.

Level 32 - Buried Alive! Dig or die!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The best method for gaining points in this level is to simply go straight to
the right or left, and then make your way up to the very top. Once at the top
make your way over to the boss, and try to get rid of those red guys before
you start the fight. Now start the fight.
______________
Boss - Stevens
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Get right above the boss and keep firing down until he launches a scatter
bomb, which you will now use too but you'll be in Mami mode.  The game will
slow down immensely at this point, and you will make hundreds of explosions,
and hundreds of watermelons for millions of points. Just get all that fruit,
and keep blowing everything up that you can.  You'll probably want to keep
launching Mami bombs whenever there are a bunch of bullets coming your way
so you can clear out all the boxes faster.

Once you've gotten all the points you can, just keep firing at the boss with
Riki mode, and launching your scatter bomb whenever he does and the fight
will be over in no time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 33 - Family duel. Just roll with it!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since you'll want to use the boss to get all your points on this level just
fly to the left right away and get things started.

Boss - Ban Makishi
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This boss is pretty cool.  He's invincible when he has his shield up and will
bounce off whatever he runs into, whether it be an enemy robot, or the edge
of the screen.

To take advantage of his shield lead him over to a highly populated area and
try to get as close to him as possible when he's bouncing around with his
shield up.  You can then get off a max Mami bomb and make hundreds of
explosions instantly which will hopefully lead to the creation of a couple
watermelons here and there.  Just go around the entire level repeating this
process.

The problem with this method is that you can end up killing the boss very
quickly because when you get too close to him, you can shoot through his
shield, and using a max Mami bomb point blank does a lot of damage.  Just be
careful and try to keep him alive until you've cleared out the entire level
and just finish him off when you're all done.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ending - It goes so fast you can't read it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you beat the game, only to realize that those screens at the end fly by
way faster then you can possibly read?  Well don't worry because I've
bothered to beat the game and record it so that I can tell you all about
what's going on!

----------
Do you understand? You from the Kosmo Gang! From now on peace reigns
throughout the universe!

The, the man...

Ha? What's wrong, Father?

Ga-Gai?! My younger brother, Isn't that Gai?

Your brother?! What do you mean, Father?

I suppose things have gone This far I must tell you what happened on that
fateful day long ago.

Well... It all happened about 80 years ago. It was the middle of winter and
an unforgettably icy wind was howling.  Gai and I were running along a dark
alleyway. Around then there was a popular play with the title "The Gods of
South East Asia, their rise and fall."  Back then we were both young...

..but they didn't even open their mouths. Gai and I sobbed thick wet tears.
Even the then when we were completely desolate, a young woman came to us.

We couldn't breathe. For her face was just like that of Hiroko's. The light
from the evening sun went down on us.

"Gai, Gaiiiiii", I called as I ran up to him. But it was already too late.
The sea appeared to tower up like a mountain and a massive youth appeared.
His body stood in the way of the beaming sun and cast a huge shadow. Then the
huge lad opened his mouth and said: "The paradise for business".

Father, I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulderss.

So everything is well. It is well. Everything was thus over.

So, from now on we are six in our family. Long live friendship for all!
----------

And there you have it.  The ending to Bangai-O, my favorite game on the
Dreamcast, as well as that from Treasure.

__________
Cheat Menu
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
To enter the cheat menu, first enter your initials as three gophers. Now
confirm your name, and then exit back to the main screen. Now enter the
options menu, and leave and you'll be at the cheat menu. As far as I know,
you only have to leave the options menu from now on to access the cheat menu.

You can also earn the cheat menu by beating the game.  Now everytime you
leave the options menu the cheat menu will come up.

The options include:

- Turning invincibility on and off
- Changing the size of explosions
- Changing the size of your bullets
- Turning on and off the backgrounds
- Unlock all stages (not actually an option, but once you use the code all
the levels will instantly open up, although I haven't personally confirmed
  this)

Just so you know, you can't earn high scores with invincibility on, so don't
bother trying.
