O============================================================================O
The Secret of Bastow Manor, also called Secret of Bastow Manor 64, is a
graphical text adventure released around 1983 for the Commodore 64 as part of
the VIC-20 COMPUTER series by SoftGold. It was developed by Daryll Reynolds.
The description on the back of the box states, "You stand on the moors outside
Bastow Manor. Old-man Bastow has disappeared, or so the story goes, leaving
rumours of his wealth hidden somewhere in the Manor. The baying of hounds
behind the walls brings to mind tales of wandering ghosts and hidden traps.
Can you find the treasure, solve the mysteries...and LIVE!"
There are unmarked spoilers in this document. I written this in a way to tell
the player how to beat this game and I may skip areas that serve no purpose in
getting toward the end. To experience the most fulfillment is to explore
areas on your own and use this as a guide to help keep you on the right track.
I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I did!

O============================================================================O
[03] GAME MECHANICS
O============================================================================O
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
PACK
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You can view what items the protagonist is currently carrying in his inventory
by typing 'I' and press (return). He can only carry up to five items in his
pack, and there will be instances where you must drop an item you are carrying
to make room for another. Make sure to note where you have dropped the item
to prevent you from running around aimlessly trying to find it.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
EXITS
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
To see all of the possible exits, type 'G' for a list of them at your current
location. There may be instances where you cannot use a direction command to
enter a specific locations, and instead need to type 'GO (site)' or 'CLIMB
(site)'. For example: In order to enter the Bastow Manor, you have to type
'GO GATE'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
DOGS
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
As soon as you open the gates to the Manor, Bastow's guard dogs will chase
after the protagonist as long as he is out in the open. To avoid being
attacked, you must run to safety within seven moves. The limited number of
moves are as follows:
· MOVE 1 = It will warn you, "I hear dogs howling !!"
· MOVE 2 = You are given one free move at your disposal.
· MOVE 3 = The first time you hear the dogs barking, "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
· MOVE 4 = The second time you hear the dogs barking, "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
· MOVE 5 = The third time you hear the dogs barking, "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
· MOVE 6 = The fourth time you hear the dogs barking, "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
· MOVE 7 = The fifth time you hear the dogs barking, "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
· MOVE 8 = You are attacked by the dogs, "The dogs attack me..."
If you are at a safe spot and get back into the open, the game will reset
itself back to MOVE 1 with, "I hear dogs howling !!"
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SAFE SPOTS
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
The only way to avoid the dogs is to find a safe spot, there are three which
you can use:
· 'CLIMB TREE' at the manor wall to reach the top of a dead tree.
· 'S' at the garden outside a shed to enter the storage shed.
· 'CLIMB LADDER' at the east side of the manor to be at the window ledge.
When you are at any one of these safe spots, the game will reset the dogs back
to MOVE 1 with, "I hear dogs howling !!"

O============================================================================O
[05] DETAILED WALKTHROUGH
O============================================================================O
Can you find the treasure, solve the mysteries...and LIVE...
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR GATES
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You are standing outside the Manor gates. The gate in front of you is locked
and upon closer examination, there is an iron key on the ground inside the
Manor. Too bad it is out of reach. You can try to climb the wall, but you
will slip and break your neck.
The only possible exit here is to the south, so type 'S'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR WALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
There is a tree, mailbox, and sign here. The mailbox is locked. And the sign
reads, "BASTOW MANOR -- KEEP OUT".
The dead tree here is sturdy enough, so 'CLIMB TREE'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
TOP OF A DEAD TREE
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK TREE' and you will notice a branch. 'BREAK BRANCH' and 'GET BRANCH' to
carry it in your pack. We can use this branch to get that iron key.
Then 'CLIMB TREE' to climb back down and go 'N' back to the gates.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR GATES
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK GATE' to notice the iron key on the ground, 'GET KEY' and 'IRON'. This
iron key can be used to unlock the gate and the mailbox.
Let's go 'S' back to the mailbox for now.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR WALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Use the iron key to 'UNLOCK MAILBOX' and 'LOOK MAILBOX' to see the contents
inside. There is a letter, 'GET LETTER' and 'READ LETTER', "The left is
right..or is the right wrong?". Remember this clue and 'DROP LETTER'.
'LOOK MAILBOX' once more to discover a torch inside. 'GET TORCH' and go back
'N' to the gates.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR GATES
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'UNLOCK GATE'. Then 'DROP KEY' and 'IRON' since we don't need it anymore.
'OPEN GATE'. Then the protagonist notes, "I hear dogs howling !!" Now
Bastow's guard dogs will chase after you. You are given seven moves to find a
safe spot, or the dogs will attack you.
"GO GATE" to enter inside the Manor.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GRAVEL PATH
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
The dogs will be after you soon, however there is a safe place nearby.
Go 'S'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GARDEN OUTSIDE A SHED
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", five moves left. First 'LOOK SHED' and you will notice
a ladder nearby.
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", four moves left. Now 'GET LADDER'.
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", three moves left. Quickly go 'S' to retreat inside the
storage shed.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
STORAGE SHED
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You are now safe from those dogs.
The protagonist is exhausted, "I'm very tired..can't go any further" He is
referring to the branch in his pack; he cannot leave the shed as long as he is
carrying it. For now, 'DROP BRANCH' and exit the shed to the 'N'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GARDEN OUTSIDE A SHED
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You're back out in the opening, "I hear dogs howling !!"
We're going to utilize this ladder in our pack, go 'N'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GRAVEL PATH
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Go 'E' toward the Manor.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
FRONT DOOR
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", five moves left. 'READ SIGN' and it reads, "Ring bell
and enter". Whatever you do, do not ring the bell unless you want to fall
down through a chute to your death.
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", four moves left. Now go 'E'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
EAST SIDE OF THE MANOR
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", three moves left. The door here leads to the basement,
however it's jammed shut. We're going to use our ladder, 'DROP LADDER' to
prop it against the wall.
"BARK! BARK! BARK!", two moves left. 'CLIMB LADDER' to get away from those
mangy mutts.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
WINDOW LEDGE
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You are now safe from those dogs. The window leading into the second floor of
the Manor is locked from the inside.
'CLIMB LADDER' back down.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
EAST SIDE OF THE MANOR
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You're back out in the opening, "I hear dogs howling !!"
Go 'W', 'W', 'S', and 'S' back to the Storage Shed.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
STORAGE SHED
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'OPEN CASE' and 'LOOK CASE' to find an apple inside. 'GET APPLE' and whatever
you do, do not eat the apple or else you miss out on a clue. The protagonist
mentions after eating the apple, "O.K. feels lumpy...." For an interesting
message, 'LOOK APPLE' and the protagonist notes, "Looks like a ][e".
Now 'MOVE CASE', underneath is a trapdoor! Before you venture down, first
'LIGHT TORCH'. That way you can see in the dark or else you'll stumble to
your death.
Before you go, 'GET BRANCH' and then 'GO TRAPDOOR'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
DIM ROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
There is a small box here, 'GET BOX'. It's locked and we will find a key
later that unlocks it.
Now 'LOOK DOOR' to note it is secured with a beam. And if you 'LOOK BEAM', it
is V E R Y heavy. We need a tool to pry this open.
Go 'S' deeper into the tunnel.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
DARK, MOSS COVERED TUNNEL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
There is a deep pit ahead of you, 'LOOK PIT' to see it is full of snakes. Why
does it have to be snakes? We have to get to the other side, and thankfully
we have just the thing!
'DROP BRANCH' and it will span across the pit. Go 'S' into the corridor.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
DAMP STONE CORRIDOR
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'OPEN TOOLBOX' and 'LOOK TOOLBOX' to find a crowbar inside, 'GET CROWBAR'.
Don't bother with going west because it leads to a dark room with a switch
that when you pull on it, it advertises:
*** COMING SOON ***
GRAPHIC ADVENTURE NO. 2
005 SUPER SPY
FROM
LOOK FOR IT
***************
We'll head south toward the red wall later on.
Let's go back to the dim room, go 'N' and 'N'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
DIM ROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
With the crowbar in hand, 'REMOVE BEAM' and 'DROP CROWBAR'. Then 'OPEN DOOR'
and now we're finally get inside the Manor! 'GO DOOR'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
NORTH END OF THE HALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK DOOR' to notice that the door we just came out of locked behind us. So
in order for us to go back to the dim room, we would have to do so via the
storage shed.
'OPEN CLOCK' and 'LOOK CLOCK', there is a knife inside. Odd place to put
knives, unless Bastow was trying to cut time... 'GET KNIFE'. Also if you
'LOOK CLOCK' five times, you would find five extra knives inside. Geez, how
many knives does Bastow need inside a clock, one for every hour?
With this knife, 'DROP APPLE' and 'CUT APPLE'. You will notice a small key
inside and 'DROP KNIFE'. 'GET KEY' and 'SMALL'.
Hmm, a small key could unlock a small box. 'UNLOCK BOX', 'OPEN BOX', and
'LOOK BOX' to see a note inside. 'DROP BOX', and 'DROP KEY' and 'SMALL'. Now
'GET NOTE' and 'READ NOTE', it reads, "I see writing. Looks like 'VI'..."
This is another clue, remember this and 'DROP NOTE'.
Go 'S' toward the south end of the hall.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SOUTH END OF THE HALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Ignore these places for now, go 'S' again to the kitchen.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
KITCHEN
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK TABLE', the protagonist notes, "Strange... There's hot good there".
How peculiar seeing as how this place is supposed to be abandoned. Go 'W'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
CLOSET
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Don't bother picking up the mop, it has no usage. But do 'GET BUCKET', we
will be using this later on.
Let's see what's under this crate, 'MOVE CRATE'. There is a key underneath,
but wait... the protagonist mentions, "I see something... An old man enters
everything goes black" You are knocked out, "My head spins... Slowly... My
head clears I see..."
As you regain consciousness, you notice the key is gone! Drats, where could it
have gone? And that old man, was it Bastow? So many questions! We'll
eventually get the key back, for now go 'E' and at the kitchen, go 'S'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
WINE CELLAR
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
There is a suit of armour here, 'GET ARMOUR'. Kind of odd how the protagonist
constantly mentions, "I'm not that strong". However he has no problem picking
up a suit of armour...
Now we are going to the entrance foyer by the north end of the hall, go 'N',
'N', 'N', and 'N'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
ENTRANCE FOYER
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'OPEN DOOR' and you notice it is sealed tight, this would lead back to the
front door. And 'LOOK BALCONY' and the protagonist swears, "I thought I saw a
movement!" This does not bode well.
As strange as it may sound, 'WEAR ARMOUR'. The protagonist jokes, "O.K. Is
armour in this year ?" Type 'I' to look inside your pack and it should show
"Armour (Worn)".
Go 'E' and a safe falls from the balcony! "Old man Bastow drops a safe from
the balcony... Lucky you are wearing the armour". The old man is still
alive and he's trying to kill us! Never mind the fact how it's possible for
an old man drop safes from the balcony... Well, do not let this geezer scare
you, we will get his treasures!
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
LIBRARY
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You end up in the library. 'LOOK DESK' and there is an open book here, 'READ
BOOK' to read the following passage.
-----------------------------

LOCKS AND CUNNING ESCAPES
-------------------------
..AND AS A GENERAL RULE
FOR OPENING TREASURE
CHESTS, TRY...

RIGHT 3
LEFT 7
RIGHT 2
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
"...The rest of the page is missing.." Keep note of this final clue and 'DROP
ARMOUR' since we don't need it anymore. Let's go back to the south end of the
hall, go 'S' and 'S'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SOUTH END OF THE HALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Let's go upstairs to the second floor, 'GO STAIRS'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MASTER BEDROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Nothing to do here for now, so 'OPEN WINDOW' and 'GO WINDOW'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
WINDOW LEDGE
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
You find yourself back at the window ledge. This will be your shortcut inside
the manor. Head back to the manor wall where the mailbox is at, don't worry
about the dogs because we'll have enough time.
'CLIMB LADDER', then go 'W', 'W', 'W', 'S'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR WALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK MAILBOX' and whaddya know, the key from the crate in the closet is here!
'GET KEY' and 'BRASS'.
Now we're cutting it real close with the dogs, our next move may kill us!
Quickly 'CLIMB TREE' and at the top of a dead tree, 'CLIMB TREE' to get back
down. Back at the manor wall, let's go back to the south end of the hall. Go
'N', 'GO GATE', 'E', 'E', 'CLIMB LADDER', 'GO WINDOW', and 'GO STAIRS'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SOUTH END OF THE HALL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Use the brass key we have to 'UNLOCK DOOR', and 'DROP KEY' and 'BRASS'. 'OPEN
DOOR' and 'GO DOOR'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
STUDY
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK DESK' and the protagonist would note there is a drawer. 'OPEN DRAWER'
and 'LOOK DRAWER' to find a pencil inside which you cannot pick up.
Many speculated that "pencil" is a typographical error of "panel" because:
· If you try to pick it up, the protagonist mentions, "I'm not that strong".
· The game never specifically states you need to find a panel.
· Pencil and panel are written pretty similar.
I can only imagine how many people were stuck at this part back in the 1980's.
So 'PRESS PANEL' and a button appears. Also if you 'PRESS BUTTON' four times,
oddly enough four buttons would appear. Bastow has a pretty faulty system
here. 'PULL BUTTON' and the protagonist says, "O.K. I hear a rumble".
Let's find the source of this rumble. Go 'E' and 'GO STAIRS' to head into the
master bedroom.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MASTER BEDROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Go 'S' to the master bathroom.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MASTER BATHROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK BATH' and the protagonist notes there are taps here, obviously. 'FILL
BUCKET' to use the bath tap. Type 'I' to look inside your pack and it should
show "Bucket (Filled)".
We are going to go all the way toward the damp stone corridor. Go 'N', 'GO
WINDOW', 'CLIMB LADDER', 'W', 'W', 'S', 'S', 'GO TRAPDOOR', 'S', and 'S'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
DAMP STONE CORRIDOR
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
Go 'S' to head through the red wall to a secret room.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SECRET LABORATORY
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
My gosh! 'LOOK SKELETON' and the protagonist notes, "I thought it moved!"
Nothing to do here, so go 'E'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
STONE CELL
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
The rumbling was the sound of the wall moving revealing a hole, 'GO HOLE'.
There is a robot inside, however it pushes you back into the stone cell.
We're going to have to short-circuit this robot to pass through, 'THROW WATER'
and 'HOLE'. Now we have to do this two more times, so we're going to be doing
some backtracking. We are heading back to the manor, filling up the bucket,
get back to the stone cell, and repeat process.
Therefore go 'W', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'GO DOOR', 'S', 'GO STAIRS', 'S', 'FILL
BUCKET', 'N', 'GO WINDOW', 'CLIMB LADDER', 'W', 'W', 'S', 'S', 'GO TRAPDOOR',
'S', 'S', 'S', 'E', and 'THROW WATER' and 'HOLE'.
Then one more time, go 'W', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'GO DOOR', 'S', 'GO STAIRS', 'S',
'FILL BUCKET', 'N', 'GO WINDOW', 'CLIMB LADDER', 'W', 'W', 'S', 'S', 'GO
TRAPDOOR', 'S', 'S', 'S', 'E', and 'THROW WATER' and 'HOLE'.
After you have thrown water into the hole three times, 'GO HOLE'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SECRET ROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
'LOOK ROBOT', "Its shorted out!" It won't be a nuisance to us anymore! Now
go 'E'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
TREASURE ROOM
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
This is exactly what we came here for! 'LOOK CHEST' and it has a combination
lock. 'UNLOCK CHEST' and it will tell you, "The combination lock has all the
letters of the alphabet arranged around its rim" and "Enter letters or type
'*' to quit". In order to figure out the combination code, you have to
remember the clues we have come across.
First starting from the note inside the small box, "I see writing. Looks like
'VI'..." Since this combination code use alphabet instead of letters, the
sixth letter [VI] is F. Now going by the book in the library, "Locks and
cunning escapes: ..And as a general rule for opening treasure chests, try...
Right 3, Left 7, Right 2 ...The rest of the page is missing.." Three letters
[Right 3] to the right of F is I. Thus the first part of the combination code
is "I".
Now let's go seven letters to the left [Left 7]. We end at "B", the second
part of the combination code.
Then we have to go two letters to the right [Right 2]. We end at "D", the
third part of the combination code.
And for the final part of the combination code. Going from the letter in the
mailbox, "The left is right ..or is the right wrong?" We have to go right back
to the first letter mentioned in the note, "I see writing. Looks like 'VI'..."
Thus the fourth and final part of the combination code is "F".
Therefore the combination code is "IBDF". The protagonist would exclaim,
"Thats it!" if you have done it correctly.
Now the chest is open, 'LOOK CHEST' and 'GET GOLD'. Then the protagonist
mentions, "I hear bells ringing somewhere". We must have triggered something!
We got what we came here for, now let's get outta here! Go 'W', 'W', and 'W'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
SECRET LABORATORY
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
"The skeleton stirs and comes for you". My gosh, we triggered the skeleton!
The skeleton will relentlessly chase after you, much like the dogs, unless you
can get yourself out of the manor.
To get away, go 'N', 'N', 'N', 'W', and 'N'.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GARDEN OUTSIDE A SHED
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
"BARK! BARK! BARK!" and "The skeleton comes after you.." This is not going
to be your lucky day, but don't fret! Just focus on getting out of the manor,
go 'N' and 'W' toward the Manor gates.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
MANOR GATES
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
"Thats it you've got the gold
...and your life!"
Congratulations, you've beaten The Secret of Bastow Manor 64!

[10] FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
O============================================================================O
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GENERAL QUESTIONS
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
[Q: ARE THERE ANY ITEMS I SHOULD NOT DROP FROM MY PACK?]
· A: Most items only have one usage. Once they are used, you can safely drop
them. The only item I would suggest keeping with you is the bucket.
[Q: WHAT ITEMS ARE MISSABLE?]
· A: The small key. If you ate the apple, you cannot get the small key
needed to unlock the small box housing the note, but it isn't necessary
to win the game.
[Q: IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THE GAME UNWINNABLE?]
· A: No, there is always a solution to help you proceed further.
[Q: HOW LONG IS THIS GAME?]
· A: About 30 minutes to 1 hour long.
[Q: HOW MANY ENDINGS DOES THIS GAME HAVE?]
· A: There is only one ending to this game, regardless if you escape Bastow's
Manor with the gold or without the gold.
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
GAMEPLAY QUESTIONS
o------------------------------------------------------------------o
[Q: HOW DO I GET THE IRON KEY AT THE MANOR GATES?]
· A: Get a branch from the dead tree by the Manor wall. Then use it to reach
the iron key.
[Q: THE DOGS KEEP KILLING ME, HOW DO I AVOID THEM?]
· A: Try climbing up a tree or head inside a shed or even climb up a ladder
to avoid them.
[Q: WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS LADDER?]
· A: Prop it up against a wall where you can access the second floor window.
[Q: HOW COME I CANNOT EXIT THE STORAGE SHED?]
· A: Because you are carrying the branch in your pack, drop the branch and
you will be able to exit the storage shed.
[Q: HOW COME WHEN I GO DOWN THE TRAPDOOR, EVERYTHING IS DARK?]
· A: Did you light the torch?
[Q: WHERE DO I FIND THIS TORCH?]
· A: Did you check out the mailbox twice?
[Q: HOW DO I OPEN THE DOOR AT THE DIM ROOM?]
· A: You will need to find a crowbar in a toolbox nearby to remove the beam.
[Q: I ATE THE APPLE BEFORE GETTING THE SMALL KEY, DID I SCREW UP?]
· A: No, you can still finish the game without the small key. You will just
permanently miss out on a clue to the combination code.
[Q: HOW DO I CUT OPEN THIS APPLE?]
· A: Drop the apple and use your knife to slice it open.
[Q: HOW DO I OPEN THIS SMALL BOX?]
· A: Maybe you need a small key?
[Q: WHAT DOES THE ARMOUR PROTECT ME FROM?]
· A: It will protect you from falling safes. It will not protect you from
getting blacked out in the closet, or attacks from dogs or the skeleton.
[Q: I FOUND A KEY, BUT I WENT UNCONSCIOUS, WHERE CAN I FIND IT AGAIN?]
· A: Go back to the mailbox at the Manor wall.
[Q: THE ROBOT KEEPS PUSHING ME BACK, HOW DO I GET PASS IT?]
· A: You have to short-circuit it, fill your bucket with water and throw it
at the hole where the robot is at.
[Q: I THREW WATER AT THE ROBOT, BUT HOW COME IT STILL PUSHES ME BACK?]
· A: Try splashing water at it two more times.
[Q: I INPUT THE COMBINATION CODE, BUT WHY DOES IT TELL ME IT'S INCORRECT?]
· A: Did you input it in as one word as "ABCD"? It won't work if you type
"A B C D"; "A-B-C-D"; "A, B, C, D"; or "A" (return), "B" (return), "C"
(return), "D" (return).
[Q: I GOT THE GOLD, NOW WHAT?]
· A: Get out of Bastow's Manor!
[Q: HOW DO I KILL THE DOGS/SKELETON/OLD MAN BASTOW?]
· A: You cannot.
[Q: CAN I KILL MYSELF?]
