Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 unshaded FAQ/walkthrough ver 1.4B

[INTRODUCTION]
This FAQ is meant to help the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 players to beat
the entire 80 stages story mode in order to get their car into maximum tuned
815HP or 12 tuning gages instead of 11. In order to get the last tuning gage,
the player has to be never defeated even ONCE on the entire 80 stages story
mode.
New! : Since Namco has released version B patch of this game somewhere on
October 2005. Where you don't really have to be unshaded in order to get
815HP anymore. Instead, to get the last tuning gage, you'll just have to
keep playing until your mileage reach more than 5000km. But then, 5000km is
not a good way and it'll take much much money than just completing 80 stages
story mode. In other words... More money, less skill. Less money, more skill
it takes ^_^

I consider as a rip-off from my work. I'm gonna sue you & let the mags
publisher to know about it so that you won't get your dirty-money from
stealing my writing!)
You may put this FAQ on your web site provided that not a single character has

You can also, print a copy of the entire walkthrough or a part of it, provided
you only use it for personal purposes.

Some notes about my FAQ :
I don't recommend this FAQ for those players who already have their own way,
strategy for making their own 815HP car. Especially those Time-Attackers who
used mostly high HP settings to play. Because most of the HP settings I used
in this FAQ for the entire game is more than 95% using low HP. There are good
raasons why instead of using maximum HP on those stages which has straight
line finish with not maximum power, because when you set your HP high, the
computer also will run faster, no matter how much HP you put. Story mode is
a boost-on match. I believe the computer has their own calculation about the
boost limitation. Like if you put the HP too low, you really won't be able
to catch up with the computer at all later.
This is also another reason that Grip is always better than Drift/Dangerous
because of with a Grip setting, you can control your car easier, less chance
for you to screwed up and hit the wall because of your car still drifting.
BTW, I'm not a real good time-attacker, my time isn't good enough to
compete with those IR records. What you really need have to be able to do
for this are :
-You know well most of the courses, you don't really have to memorize all
the corners like in Initial D. It's just that you can 'feel' it what's
coming next. Maximum Tune is easier eventhou you don't aware with the
course well because they'll always give caution arrows each time a
corners coming. But it's good if you really know all the courses on
all 80 stages of them(I don't ^_^...)
-You must be able to turn most of the time at any corner with a real
small chance you're gonna screwed up (some easy stages are fine if you
screwed up at the beginning. But do NOT on the last minute!)
And the way you turn is also have to be at least not like a n00bs who
need to shift down more than once on most of the corners(stage 40 the
last corner on 1st round is exceptable.)
So far, this method has been revised many times and tested successfully by
myself with these cars until now :
1. MAZDA RX-8 Type S [SE3P] (Aero)
2. MAZDA RX-7 Type R [FD3S] (Aero)
3. MAZDA SAVANNA RX-7 GT-X [FC3S] (Carbon)
4. Nissan Skyline GT-R [BNR32] / Aero
5. Nissan Fairlady Z [S30] / Aero
6. Toyota Corolla
7. Subaru Alcyone SVX [CXD] / Carbon
8. Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX [Z32] / Carbon
9. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution8 MR [CT9A] / Aero
10 . Toyota MR-2 [SW20] / Carbon
11. Toyota Chaser Tourer V [JZX100] / Carbon
12. Mazda Eunos Cosmo [JCESE] / Carbon
13. Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX [Z31] / Carbon
14. Nissan Silvia spec-R [S15] / Carbon
15. Nissan Fairlady Z Version S [Z33] / Carbon
16. Mitsubishi GTO Twinturbo [Z16A] / Aero
The reason I used cars like Corolla or Eunos Cosmo because those cars are some
of the worst cars among the other cars in the game. So, if those cars could
even make it successfully, then for the other better cars I'm sure this guide
will also works well, even it'll be easier and much better results.
If you need some real proof, you can always check my latest progress at :
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/xerpent/815project.jpg
I will always try to make many different cars as I could based on my
own FAQ refrences.
Anyway, I just got my own handycam here. So, if any of you desperately need
video guideance about how to perform on certain stages (& many others had
requests for the same stage.) I will record my own game on that stage & I'll
send the video to you later. (I can't promise this since I kinda busy lately
but I'll always try my best to help all of you.)
Ok, enough for the intros... Let's get started!
WARNING! : Again, for those who really like to race with high HP settings and
NOT USED/CANNOT play with low(grip) settings, I strongly suggest you'd better
don't read this FAQ and good luck with your own method. I don't feel like
wanting to get emails such as "OMFG, I usually use ###HP on stage ## & I could
win easily, but when I tried your settings, I lose. **** you!" most likely
I won't reply such mails. Just read, & if you believe in my reference, and
your own skill. You succeed, that's good, I'm glad if my FAQ could be useful
for you. If not, try again or get someone else who could help you out for this.

===============================================================================
[GAME START]
Note : The difficulty level in this FAQ is NOT based on the difficulty stars
on the game. It's basically my own difficulty ratings to let you know
how much effort that'll take to beat them. I will divide this into 5
levels : Very Easy - Easy - Medium - Hard - Very Hard.
Also, on the opponent sections :
vs. <person1> & <person2> = means each person driving their own car
while
vs. <person1> + <person2> = means these 2 persons are in 1 car
Just for a good knowledge ;-)
[Battle #1] Stage 1 : vs. Akio Asakura
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 0 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : This is an EXTREMELY easy match even for beginners who just start
playing this game. If you can't even beat this, don't even think to be
unshaded for rest of the stages. You're not even trying to play...
[Battle #2] Stage 2 : vs. Kochan
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : You can only lose in this battle if you really crashed to the wall
very hard on the last corner before the finish line. Or else, Kochan
will just right behind you when you reach the finish line. It's not
necessary to get Power in this case, you can just use 1 Handling
instead of Power to turn better. But then, I won't recommend for those
cars which start with very low HP like S30, it starts with 120HP at
the beginning.
[Battle #3] Stage 3 : vs. Makoto Morishita
Course : Odaiba Downwards
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 1 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : The last corner kinda sharp, yet it should be easy for you now as you
are still on low HP, which means low speed, easier to turn.
[Battle #4] Stage 4 : vs. Oki
Course : Hakone Outbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 1 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : This maybe hard at the beginning if you're not familiar with Hakone.
But then, Oki will slow down alot on the very end before you reach
the straight line to the finish. This is your opportunity to pass him
if you're unable to catch with him on all the way before you reached
there.
[Battle #5] Stage 5 : vs. Reina Akikawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 2 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : You'll encounter for the first time with the 'final boss' of this game
in the middle of the match later. Don't even think to beat him with
your current condition. There's a way to beat him but you don't really
have to worry about it for now as it's just to get a certain to doing
that. Your concern right now is to not losing at all (which is the
purpose you read this FAQ.)
The only thing you really need to worry is the final corner before the
finish. It's possible to tackle it from inside line, but it's kinda
risky since there's a hiace next to it. I suggest you take the outside
and try not to crash to the wall. To make you feel better in this
stage, just pretend that you real opponent is the devil Z in front,
pretend Reina doesn't exist there ^_^
[Battle #6] Stage 6 : vs. Yamashita
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 2 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : The finish is just after you passed the land-divider. It's ok if you
screwed up there and you hit the side wall inside the divider, most
likely Yamashita will still behind you. But NOT the divider itself!!!
It's a worst part in this game that you really-really never to happen
on any of your race, your car will be stopped at all and you're gonna
suffer alot to accelerate again from very very low speed and 95.5% you
will lose in this stage.
[Battle #7] Stage 7 : vs. Harada
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 4 Power - 2 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Take the corner before the finish gently, don't crash. Don't lose too
much speed, and Harada won't even able to catch up with you.
[Battle #8] Stage 8 : vs. Hayashi
Course : Hakone Inbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 4 Power - 3 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Hayashi not yet giving all out what he got here. Don't crash too much
and too hard on the corners and you'll be able to still catch up with
him. Don't crash on the final turn or else you might lose in this
stage. Hayashi on stage 28 will be like three times harder than this.
So, you're in real trouble if you're still having problem to win this
stage easily from him.
[Battle #9] Stage 9 : vs. Kazuhiko Yamamoto & Kazuo Ota
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 5 Power - 3 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Don't crash on the corner at the tunnel right before the finish line.
This will determine whether you're gonna win or lose.
*Stage 10 : vs. [R200 Club]
Tips : It's really possible to win this stage at the moment. But it'll be more
wise if you skip this for now. In order to get higher chance to win.
Since Sonoda on the 2nd round later could be a pain for you now if he
rammed your car to the wall on the last minute.
[Battle #10] Stage 11 : vs. Yamanaka
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 5 Power - 4 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : He's pretty slow here, and course are quite easy. You should have no
problem here.
[Battle #11] Stage 12 : vs. Keiichiro Aizawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 6 Power - 4 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : The finish line is on straight line. And there's no crazy boost from
the computer right now. So, it should be no problem.
[Battle #12] Stage 13 : vs. Koichiro Hiramoto
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 7 Power - 4 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : As long as you have more than 500HP, he won't be able to catch up with
you until the end. 500HP is the minimum.
[Battle #13] Stage 10 : (Round 1) vs. [R300 Club]Motoki & Teizuka
(Round 2) vs. [R300 Club]Sonoda
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 7 Power - 5 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : You'll be battling twice in this stage. First round you'll race with
CCR Motoki and Teizuka, don't worry if on the last corner they could
pass you even if you take the corner without crashing at all. Since
they'll slow down like hell after that, your chance to pass them and
win. The second round is the sick part, where you're gonna race with
Sonoda. This guy like to ram you into the walls or to the yellow cars.
Make sure you lead the front when you take the last corner as he won't
be able to catch up with you after that.
[Battle #14] Stage 14 : vs. Koichi Kijima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 7 Power - 6 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : This battle is similar to Stage 9, except that your opponent this time
only one person.
*Stage 15 : vs. Gen Goto & Tomoya
Tips : It's possible to beat them at this moment. But it'll be more easier
for you to beat them if you choose them later when your have 9 Power
and 9 Handling.
[Battle #15] Stage 16 : vs. Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 8 Power - 6 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Just don't crash on the last corner, just release the gas for a second
if you're afraid to screwed up.
[Battle #16] Stage 17 : vs. Eiji Kamiya
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 8 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : The guy is fast, but luckily the finish line is on straight way. And
with 520HP power, he shouldn't be able to pass you even by the boost.
*Stage 18 : vs. Masaki
Tips : For higher chance to win, finish stage 19 first.
[Battle #17] Stage 19 : vs. Takayuki Kuroki
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 9 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : This is extremely easy! He's not evenly able to catch up with you as
long as you're not hitting any cars until the end.
[Battle #18] Stage 18 : vs. Masaki
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 9 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : You can still actually beat him with 7 Handling, but it'll be easier
if you have 8 bars.
[Battle #19] Stage 15 : vs. Gen Goto & Tomoya
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 9 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Reason why I choose this as the last among the others, because althou
they're still on the same easy 'level', yet this course has more
dangerous final corner compared to others (yet, they're actually
still easy.)
[Battle #20] Stage 20 : (Round 1) vs. Reina Akikawa & Akio Asakura
(Round 2) vs. Akio Asakura & Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 9 Power - 10 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : The hardest part is actually at the end of round 1, where you have to
turn in the corner and you must NOT hitting the wall nor losing speed
too much. The 2nd round is quite easy, it's a long straight way in
the end.
[Battle #21] Stage 21 : vs. Gatchan
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 0 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : very Easy
Tips : A 'break' session after a high-tension battle on the previous stage.
[Battle #22] Stage 22 : vs. Kochan
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 0 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Still easy, but watch for the last 2 corners, crash on both corners
and you'll lose. Crash on 1 of them will most likely resulting a
tight-win situation.
[Battle #23] Stage 23 : vs. Rikako
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : You can either use the extra bar for Power or handling. Both are still
easy, but I'll suggest to put it on power as the finish is on the
straight line.
[Battle #24] Stage 24 : vs. Oki
Course : Hakone Outbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 0 Power - 1 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : This battle similar to stage 4. He's fast, but he'll slow
down as hell in the end.
[Battle #25] Stage 25 : vs. Pinky
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 1 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : In this stage, you can also either use the 2 extra bars for 1 Power -
1 Handling or 0 Power - 2 Handling. Both are still easy, yet this time
the finish is right after a corner. So, don't crash on that corner or
this could endanger you.
[Battle #26] Stage 26 : vs. Yamashita
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 1 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : The finish line is after the land divider, when you enter the divider,
don't crash! Or you could lose in this battle.
*Stage 27 : vs. Makoto Morishita
Tips : It's actually possible to win this battle right now. If you're planning
to beat her now, use 0 Power - 3 Handling. Or else, this gonna be
extremely hard battle. I suggest you skip this for now, there're other
stages that easier than this right now. I've seen many people who're
trying to get 815HP and ended up having their first lose here. Don't
underestimate her Z32.
*Stage 28 : vs. Hayashi
Tips : Again, it's possible to win by using 0 Power - 3 Handling. But then,
this time I STRONGLY suggest that you'd better skip this. This is one
of the hardest Hakone Inbound battle in the entire game.
[Battle #27] Stage 29 : vs. Kazuhiko Yamamoto & Kazuo Ota
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 2 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Don't screwed on the last 2 corners, this will be the main point which
decide the result. If you managed to beat Makoto and Hayashi in the
previous stages. Give the extra 1 bar for the Handling.
*Stage 30 : vs. Sonoda
Tips : You can't access him right now if you haven't beat the previous ones.
Else, use 2 Power - 2 Handling if you've managed to beat the previous
stages completely.
[Battle #28] Stage 31 : vs. Yamanaka
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 0 Power - 3 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : He's pretty slow, if you have extra bars because you're not following
my orders. You can put 1 Power - 3 Handling or 1 Power - 4 Handling.
A minimum of 3 Handling is a must. While for the Power, 1 is more than
enough to win.
~From here. I will not decribe those stages that I skipped because from this
point, the remain stages were tough enough and I don't really recommend you
up to play in order anymore unless you think you're good enough and you're
confident you're not going to lose. Then have it your way...~
[Battle #29] Stage 27 : vs. Makoto Morishita
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 3 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : So, you have extra 1 bar now if you followed my orders. Don't crash on
the last 1 km. Especially the tunnel part & the last corner. Crashed
and most likely 95.5% chance you're gonna lose.
[Battle #30] Stage 33 : vs. Harada & Koichiro Hiramoto
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 4 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : Harada's engine will blow on last minute (around 2km left), make sure
you always take the left line before that. Since he'll burn out
somewhere in the middle from the right. Stay on the left side for the
best. If you're lucky(and most likely it'll happen, really seldom if it
is not happened), Hiramoto will crash to his car and he will be left
behind quite far from you until the finish line. If you have extra
bars, put them all on Power.
[Battle #31] Stage 32 : vs. Keiichiro Aizawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 4 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Make sure you don't let your guard down, block the right side whenever
his Supra trying to pass you when you've reached the tunnel near the
finish line. The finish line is on a straight way, so it should be
easy. For some slow cars, Keiichiro will be able to catch up with you
in the end, and you have to block him! Fortunately, the ending was a
straight way, so just keep your way on the right line and he won't be
able to pass you.
[Battle #32] Stage 39 : vs. Takayuki Kuroki
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 5 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : He won't be able to catch up with you with a 700HP power. But certain
cars which has extremely horrible maximum speed like Toyota Corolla
might require to have some blocking. His final line should be on the
left. So, try to keep your way on the left and only to the middle if
there's a yellow cars on the left. Other good cars like BNR32 or S30
can relax here, they don't need to block at all until finish.
[Battle #33] Stage 28 : vs. Hayashi
Course : Hakone Inbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 5 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : This battle supposed to be a tough battle, if you don't skip stages,
use 0 Power - 3 Handling. But if you follow my orders, you'll have
3 extra bars and this should make this stage MUCH easier.
[Battle #34] Stage 30 : vs. Sonoda
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 4 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : This guy supposed to be easier than Hayashi. But then, since you can't
battle him if you haven't beat Hayashi, no choice. He's not hard, you
don't really need to catch up with him in the middle race, it's
pointless. The boost is crazy, somemore his driving style could make
you sick, and he likes to ram you to the wall. So, just pass him once
you've reached aronud 3km left.
[Battle #35] Stage 38 : vs. Masaki
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 6 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Just be careful on the last corner. It's not a hard corner. Yet,
crashing on it might cause you to lose.
[Battle #36] Stage 36 : vs. Reina Akikawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 4 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : She's tough in this stage, just be careful on the last 2km. This gonna
be a real tight win situation. You can't leave her behind for long in
the entire race.
Note for Mazda Eunos Cosmo [JCESE] players :
Do Hayashi & Sonoda first to get another 1 tuning gauge before you attempt to
race her. With 4 Handling bars, you're safe on the last corner. Or else, Reina
might be able to catch up with you after that and you might lose if you failed
to block her.
[Battle #37] Stage 34 : vs. Koichi Kijima
Course : Hakone Outbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : A night time battle. If you're not leading when you've reached the
last straight line before finish. Most likely you'll lose. Unlike
against Oki, this guy pertty fast until the last minute.
[Battle #38] Stage 35 : vs. Inky & Blinky
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Just like you're racing Gen Goto & Tomoya. They're pretty good, but
they're quiet slow on the last minute. So, this shouldn't be that
hard as long as you don't crash on anything during last minutes.
[Battle #39] Stage 37 : vs. Eiji & Maki Kamiya
Course : Hakone Inbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 6 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : Another night time battle, as hard as against Koichi Kijima in stage
34, but this time you got 2 opponents. If you're driving well, only
one of them who'll always catch up with you (because of the boost),
the other 1 will always remain to stay behind almost on the entire
race.
[Battle #40] Stage 40 : (Round 1) vs. Reina Akikawa & Akio Asakura
(Round 2) vs. Akio Asakura & Tatsuya Shima
Course : Metropolitan highway B (complete)
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 6 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : This is the 2nd hardest stage after stage 50 later in the entire story
mode. This will be 2 rounds battle and both of them were ended with a
difficult corners on the very last minute. For the first round, I
strongly suggest you don't crash AT ALL until the very last corner so
that you'll have some advantage distance from the devil Z, then on the
final sharp corner you'll still have chance to win even if you turn
not very clearly (a little crash, but not too hard! You're not in
beginner league anymore. You are making 815HP car at the moment!)
It's not easy for intermediate players to be able to turn well on this
very sharp corner without hitting the wall at all. Devil Z will be
most likely around 15m behind if you just crash a little bit. & he
will still stay behind you very far if you don't crash at all. Else
than this is the only stage which has finish line on a very crucial
point, also this stage is not a 1-round finish like ordinary stage.
There's still 2nd battle after that, althou it's not that hard. But
still, Akio & Tatsuya aren't easy opponents, you must NOT hit on the
last corner otherwise very big chances you'll lose!
*From this point, you will not receive any tune-up for your car, and you
cannot skip stages anymore. So, it's all depends on your skill, tactics, a
little bit knowledge about opponent's patterns, and a little bit of luck. I
will remove the [Battle #xx] tag from now on since it's pointless from here
(no more skipping stages.)*
Stage 41 : vs. Akio Asakura
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : In the middle of the race, Blackbird will pass both of you and Devil Z.
Forget about him, as you don't need to beat him in order to win in
this stage, Devil Z is your opponent for now.
Stage 42 : vs. Akio Asakura & Kochan
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : 3 Power - 7 Handling is also still good. But IMO, with 640HP is easier.
Stage 43 : vs. Reina Akikawa
Course : C1 Inbound B
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : If you put more than 640HP in this stage, this could be a tough battle.
620HP the best and easiest IMO.
Stage 44 : vs. Akio Asakura
Course : Hakone Outbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Devil Z is always slow on any Hakone course in the entire story mode.
So, whenever you encounter him on Hakone, no matter it's day or night
time. You don't need to worry much about tight-winning.
Stage 45 : vs. Akio Asakura & Tatsuya Shima
Course : New Belt Line B (clockwise)
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 10 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : The most dangerous part in this stage is on the narrow path, where it
is very important to don't screw up on this part. If Devil Z is on
your side or in front of you, the best way is that you let him go
first, then you catch up with him after the road wide again. Do not
even think to try to ram with him on the narrow part! When you have
reached 3km left, certain low top-speed cars require to block him!
His pattern would be: Right - Middle - Left - Middle - Left until the
finish line. While certain good cars such as BNR32 doesn't need to
block at all(depending your performance and maybe some little luck.)
During in the middle of the race, the boost will sometimes go insane
for a sec, when it happens, just let them pass you if the finish line
is still more than 2km left. When you got the boost & managed to pass
them (especially the devil Z), A.S.A.P block his way out using the
pattern I mentioned above.
Stage 46 : vs. Eriko
Course : New Belt Line A (counter-clockwise)
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Battling the Devil Z driven by a girl, the finish line is on a
straight line. & she'll go slow on the after you reached the straight
way. So, don't worry if she could catch-up with you in the beginning.
Stage 47 : vs. Tatsuya Shima + Jun Kitami
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Just don't crash on last minute. The rest should be not that difficult.
Stage 48 : vs. Akio Asakura + Rumi Shimada
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : They're pretty slow, IMO this is the easiest Hakone Inbound battle on
the entire game, althou it's a night race. Still, maybe because Akio
is more concentrate on flattering his teacher there than racing with
you ^_^
Stage 49 : vs. Akio Asakura & Reina Akikawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : I don't if I supposed to mark this in Normal or Hard level as your
opponent is fast but the course is easy.
Stage 50 : vs. Akio Asakura & Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 5 Power - 5 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : If you're real good in TA-ing on NewBeltLine Counter-Clockwise course,
that will help you alot. As this stage I recall the HARDEST stage in
the entire story mode & you'll be racing on that course exactly the
same like the one in TA. The most difficult and dangerous part about
this is after the last corner, you'll enter the wangan line. Here,
Devil Z will get an insane boost! ASAP after you enter the wangan line,
go to the right side a bit to the middle, watch your back and block
Devil Z until the finish! I used to use 680HP here but I found out with
680HP, I felt like you'll be having more dangerous compared to using
700HP (even with a 700HP you'll sometimes still have to block Devil Z!)
Stage 51 : vs. Takayuki Kuroki & Reina Akikawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Quite hard battle IMO, watch for the final corner as a little crash
would require you to block. Don't try to take the corner from inside
like those good players often did in the common players battle, it's
too risky. Outside much safer.
Stage 52 : vs. Yasuhiko Miki
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : With 620HP you should be able to turn well on all corners in the
entire race.
Stage 53 : vs. The Feeling Team
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 8 Power - 2 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : From my experience, you only have 2 times chance to crashed. 3 times
it'll be a tight-win, more than 3 you'd better do 'something' to
cancel your current battle. Crash on the narrow paths on the long
straight way at the beginning is a no-no. You lose too much time if
you crashed there. Anyway, my check-point here is that after you're
out from the 2nd corner after the long straight line is supposed to be
around 1800m - 1850m. More than 1900m and you'll be in big trouble!
Stage 54 : vs. Motoki & Teizuka
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : They're not as dangerous as Sonoda. But still, the way they drive
similar to Sonoda, don't try to ram them off. Just leave them alone,
they're pretty slow anyway.
Stage 55 : vs. Sonoda
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : This one, I'm still not sure with my settings for the easiest. Whether
it's 620HP or 640HP, I made my Corolla & FC with 620HP settings. But
it was a quiet tough battle. So, I still have to recheck this. Anyway,
before you enter the sloppy ways, you HAVE to be in front of him, or
else you'll most likely gonna lose since he won't let you pass him and
will ram you out to the walls. This gonna be the last time you'll race
with this jerk.
Stage 56 : vs. Kazuhiko Yamamoto
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : He's not fast, but still, a crash on last minute could make you lose.
Stage 57 : vs. Takayuki Kuroki & Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 10 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Very Easy
Tips : Takayuki's BCNR33 will burn out on 2km left, stay on the left side for
the safe way. And keep hoping and pray that Blackbird will crash with
him after that. If that's happens, he won't be able to catch up with
you until the end. Or else, watch for the right side. Actually, with
a 760HP Power is already more than enough. But, to maximize the chance
to win, just use full 800HP Power.
Stage 58 : vs. Jun Kitami + Kou Tominaga
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Battle with the tuners, not a tough battle. Especially with your high
grip settings.
Stage 59 : vs. Akio Asakura & Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Don't worry if after the land divider, Devil Z is in front of you,
that means your speed isn't high enough when you enter the divider.
But don't worry as he'll slow down alot after that. The only thing you
need to worry is do NOT crash even a bit when you enter the divider.
Stage 60 : vs. Takayuki Kuroki & Akio Asakura
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 10 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Kuroki's BCNR33 will blow-out on last minute in the middle road, stay
on the left side until then. And block Devil Z on the right-side way
incase he's able to catch-up with you on the very last minute.
Stage 61 : vs. Keiichiro Aizawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Beginning of the final chapter, not a quite hard battle. Yet with a
big HP settings, this could be a very dangerous battle.
Stage 62 : vs. Kazuhiko Yamamoto + Gatchan
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : You'll be most likely left behind for almost the entire race. You'll
start to close and eventually pass them near the final corner. Not a
tough battle actually, yet still have to be careful.
Stage 63 : vs. Keiichiro Aizawa + Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Not hard, but try not to crash on the last minute as the computer
boost kinda scary here.
Stage 64 : vs. Reina Akikawa + Manager
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Similar to stage 43. Above 640HP this battle could be a tough one. But
this time, I don't recommend you to use 620HP. I got once tried with
620HP and the result was not as good as using 640HP(in the end, you
could win with more than +100m advantage. IMO, this is a boost-off
race with the computer.)
Stage 65 : vs. Yamanaka & Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Watch for the final corners, it'll the one which determine the result
of this race.
Stage 66 : vs. Gatchan
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : He'll talk something nonsence which will cover for almost the entire
screen with his words, first one is like 75% from the second one,
quiet annoying. The time of this words will appear are random, they
don't have any fixed time. Not sure whether this thing possibe to not
come out on the entire race or not.
Stage 67 : vs. Gathan + Ueda + Yoshioka
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : The only problem here is when they're in front of you, hard to see
what's in front since Hiace is a big car, yet they're not as slow as
you think. Fortunately the finish line is on a straight line.
Stage 68 : vs. Akio Asakura + Kou Tominaga
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Easy battle, especially with your very high grip.
Stage 69 : vs. Akio Asakura & Keiichiro Aizawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 5 Power - 5 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Don't even try to use less than 700HP. You won't be able to catch up
with the Z if you failed to block him even there's a boost in this
race. Anyway, watch for the right side in the end, Devil Z will try to
pass you from this line. Block him!
Stage 70 : vs. Keiichiro Aizawa & Tatsuya Shima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : Just another easy battle, especially with your very high grip.
Stage 71 : vs. Kouichi Kijima + Reina Akikawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : I used to use 620HP here, but I think it's kinda dangerous for bad cars
to use that low. Use 640HP if you're not confident enough. Careful on
the final corners, if you don't turn well, it'll be a tight-win battle.
Or even force you to have to block Kijima (they'll try to pass you from
the left side, abit to the middle.)
Stage 72 : vs. Koichi Kijima & Akio Asakura + Reina Akikawa
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Actually this battle wasn't hard. It's just that on the part where the
the road could be changed the situation, either it's splitted into two-
ways, or one way on right(normally) or something left(hard!), this part
is the most crucial part on this stage, where if the road's opened for
the left-side way, I strongly
suggest on this situation, let the two of them pass you. Don't worry
about catching-up with them later on last minute, since I had
experience with my Z31 pushed by them and crashed to the yellow walls
(crash hardly, but not really hard until stop.) Then they're like 150m
left me behind, on the very last minute, I still able to pass the one
who're in front (most likely it's Kijima in Devil Z) and eventually
win by 20+ m. So, let them go first if that's the case. However, I need
to confirm about this whether it's always left-side way or it's just a
random situation just like on stage 45.
Stage 73 : vs. Akio Asakura + Koichi Kijima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : I still need to confirm this stage whether it'll be easier with
2 Power - 8 Handling or 3 Power - 8 Handling. I usually use 660HP now
but I still want to re-check again later with using 640HP.
Stage 74 : vs. Hayashi + Koichi Kijima
Course : Hakone Inbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : I will consider this stage as for you to warming up for the next
stage. Because 2 of them are exactly on the same course, which is
Hakone Inbound. But your opponent here are easier compared to those
whom you'll face next after this. If you're having problem beating
them, prepare for your nightmare after this.
Stage 75 : vs. Oki & Akio Asakura
Course : Hakone Inbound
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Very Hard
Tips : Your final Hakone battles on the entire story mode, this time, it's
not the Devil Z that you should worry about. He will most likely stay
behind Oki and you for almost in the entire race. It's possible to win
this race with 620HP but I won't recommend it anymore since you really
need to be able to turn very well without losing speed too much on the
last few corners, and this could be trouble for certain underrated cars
(I was using 620HP in this stage when I made my Corolla back there.)
Stage 76 : vs. Oki & Akio Asakura
Course : New Belt Line (S) (clockwise) laps
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 3 Power - 7 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : This battle most likely as Akio's revenge to Oki in the previous
stage. This time it's Oki who the one will stay behind of almost in
the entire race.
Stage 77 : vs. Tatsuya Shima & Koichi Kijima
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 10 Power - 0 Handling
Difficulty : Easy
Tips : A real easy battle, just like against Takayuki Kuroki on New-Belt Line
course. Around 3km left, Kijima's FC will blow-up in the middle line,
the safest way you stick on the left line. Usually Blackbird will hit
him and left over quite far and unable to chase you up until the end.
But incase something's went wrong, watch for the right line. Blackbird
will be in this line at the end. 760HP is actually has good enough for
this. But then, just use full 800HP Power if you want to be more sure
to win.
Stage 78 : vs. Rikako + Kou Tominaga
Course :
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 1 Power - 9 Handling
Difficulty : Normal
Tips : A very sensitive battle, 1 screwed will they will pass you out very
fast. Don't crash on the 2 final corners, if you hit the first one
(which is a sharp corner), try to block them ASAP. If not, you really
have to turn very good on the last, and with a boost effect, hopefully
you'll still able to make it.
Stage 79 : (Round 1) vs. Koichi Kijima & Akio Asakura
(Round 2) vs. Tatsuya Shima & Akio Asakura
Course : C1 Outbound D
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 2 Power - 8 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : Careful on the first round especially the 3 last corners! Don't crash
on any one of them or you'll most likely gonna lose! As for the second
round, be aware for the last 1km, you'll face something that you never
seen it before, but don't panic. It's actually just a easy corner to
the right twice and then left in the end. Just release gas for awhile
if you're not sure about how sharp it is, no need to down shift.
TO BE CONTINUED...
Stage 80 : vs. Tatsuya Shima & Koichi Kijima & Akio Asakura
Course : Wangan area
My HP-Settings Recommendation : 4 Power - 6 Handling
Difficulty : Hard
Tips : This is it! Your final test, you can practice the 2 final turns in the
middle way later. While for the rest, just relax, this is a long night
battle. Concentrate after Blackbird's down, for the final 2 corners
which will determine your car whether it's 815HP or 810HP after this.
