Version 1.0: Just finished making the walkthrough for the game,
and submitted it to GameFAQS (06/03/08)

B: |The Story Of VS Super Mario Brothers|
------------------------------------
Taken from the Super Mario All Stars manual:
"The Mushroom Kingdom was a peaceful place, until the fateful
day that Bowser used his twisted magic to invade it. Bowser
turned most of the Mushroom Kingdom's people into rocks, bricks
and mushrooms. He even kidnapped Princess Toadstool and held
her captive in his huge castle. When the Mario Brothers, Mario
and Luigi, heard this, they knew that they needed to do
something. They decided to battle Bowser and his evil minions
to save the Princess. Can they do it?"
-------------------------------
C: |What Is VS Super Mario Brothers|
-------------------------------
During the prime days of the original Nintendo, Nintendo decided
to make some arcade version of some of the popular games, calling
them "Nintendo Vs *insert game*". Super Mario Brothers was one of
those games, therefore it was turned into "Nintendo Vs Super Mario
Brothers", or simply "Vs Super Mario Brothers". This version of
the game is the same as the one for the NES, except it's more
tougher, as many changes were made to the game, not to mention you
had to use the arcade controls. Now, the game can be found by
playing it on MAME (an emulator), and with the ability to adjust
the controls, makes it slightly easier. And with that, I hope you
enjoy the game :)
----------------------
D: |About This Walkthrough|
----------------------
Several times throughout the walkthrough I will probably repeat
myself. A few times would possibly be necessary, such as a Boss
guide, as well as a few other things. Sometimes I do this without
even realizing it, and sometimes I do it to make it easier for
people to find what they are looking for on this walkthrough. This
guide, like others, is described on how I played/beat the game.
You have your methods as do I. This is just my way of doing it. I
hope this helps out in anyways possible.
---------------------
E: |Control Configuration|
---------------------
I assume you have a basic idea of all the control combinations,
assuming you are playing the MAME Version and using a controller.
To change the control configuration, while in game, pause it first
lol, then press TAB, then go to the option "Input (this game)" and
you will be given a list of control options. To choose the option
you want to change, scroll to it (using your keyboard) and press
ENTER and then whatever button you want to use in it, whether
keyboard or controller. I shall let you setup your controller
however you want, but here is the basic stuff to help you out on
what you want to set it up as:
LEFT D-PAD: Moves left
RIGHT D-PAD: Moves right
UP D-PAD & 'A' BUTTON: Jump higher
DOWN D-PAD: Crouches down/enters pipes
'A' BUTTON: Jumps
'B' BUTTON: Runs/Shoots fireballs (as Fire Mario)
START BUTTON: Does nothing
SELECT BUTTON: Does nothing
Please note that while pressing START does nothing, you can pause
the game by pressing 'P' on your keyboard. This can not be changed
however.

SECTION 2: |WALKTHROUGH|
-----------
----------------------
A: |Before The Walkthrough|
----------------------
1. Each level will be written out with the assumption that you
are Fire Mario, excluding the first level obviously.
2. Aside from listing the Time Limit, I will also give a very
rough idea of what the Level Layout is. Basically each level is
based off of a level from Super Mario Brothers 1 or Super Mario
Brothers: Lost Levels, only with some various changes. With
each Level Layout listed, keep in mind what strategy you used
then (for those levels) to help you get through this game.
3. Before anyone ask, there are only three ways to get any extra
lives: The 1-UP Mushroom from World 1-1, or collecting 100
Coins, and (if done correctly) the Domino Effect in World 3-2
and World 5-1. If you think you can use the imfamous "Milk The
Turtle" trick, forget it! It seems Nintendo decided to make
this game as tough as possible :)
4. Another annoying factor in this game is the Time Limit. It
moves VERY FAST, so you must do the same. Alot of times you
will hear the hurry up fast music, which is rather common. Just
be quick but be very careful doing so.
-------
B: |World 1|
-------
WORLD 1-1
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 1-1 with some minor changes
Here we go, with the first level of what seems to be a long
road! Start this level by proceeding forward, taking out the
Goomba you see. After that, hit the left '?' Block on the
bottom row to get a SUPER MUSHROOM to become Super Mario. After
that, continue going right, jumping across pipes, killing
Goombas. At the fourth pipe, you will see a two more Goombas
(this is new), so take them out. Now slowly head right to the
first pit, and then go back 5 steps left, jump up to reveal a
hidden 1-UP MUSHROOM (the only one in the game). Now jump
across the pit and you will see two more Goombas and two rows
of blocks. At the edge of the top row will be a '?' Block,
which will have a FIRE FLOWER in it. Get that to become Fire
Mario and the rest should be rather simple to get through.
After that, continue going right and just drop down to the main
area. Down here, you will see a Koopa Troopa. Stomp on that and
kick it to the right to get rid of the enemies behind that
(careful not to get hit). You can get the STARMAN from the tiny
row of two blocks where you see the Green Koopa Troopa.
Whichever way you choose, keep going right, climbing/jumping
over the small staircases and eventually you will come to a
pipe. On the otherside is two pairs of Goombas (unlike in SMB
where it's one pair). After taking them out, continue right,
climbing up the long staircase. At the top, jump over to the
flagpole and you will have completed this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Fourth pipe from the start. Get all the coins, and
exit through the other pipe. You will be taken to the
second to last pipe of this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
The only thing different here is two more pairs of Goombas,
and the second Power Up Block moved, while the fourth one
was removed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 1-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 1-2
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 1-2 with some minor changes
After completing the first level, a cutscene will take place
showing you going through a warp pipe. You will now start this
level, in an underground area. From the start, take out the
Goombas and hit the first '?' BLOCK for a FIRE FLOWER, then
continue onwards. As you make your way past the staircase of
blocks, you will notice a lone block which is a coin plus
block and Green Koopa Troopa (unlike the Gooomba from SMB).
Get those coins and on the otherside, there will be two Green
Koopa Troopas. Jump on the first one and kick it to the right
to take out the second one and more enemies (if you follow
it). Right where the Koopa Troopas were is a w-Shape set of
blocks. At the rightside of that, there is a STARMAN in the
top block. After that, do a run slide underneath the blocks
that's nearly touching the ground, and keep going until you
reach a pit, taking out any Goombas in your way.
You should now see a row of blocks near a pit. Jump on that,
then jump right to the platform blocks with coins. Go to the
right edge and jump up to reveal a FIRE FLOWER (unlike in SMB
where it's a 1-Up Mushroom). To get it, take out the blocks to
the left of it and run jump up to it (that's if you want it).
With that, you can either continue on along the ceiling, or
drop down to the lower floor. Down here will be three Goombas
and some pipes (with Pirahna Plants). Get past those and
continue onwards until you come to a staircase (with Goombas
on it), following some platform elevators. There will also be
a row of blocks and a Red Koopa Troopa, which in the far right
block is a FIRE FLOWER. Now jump across the second platform
elevator and at the otherside is a Warp Pipe. Go through it
and you will then be taken to the overworld, where you will
climb up the stairs and jump onto the flagpole, thus
completing this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: First pipe you see. Get the coins in here (there is a
coin plus block next to the exit pipe. Go through that pipe
after, and it will take you to the third pipe you come
across.
OTHER: Also if you jump on the upper platform after the
second platform lift (near the end), it will take you to a
Warp Zone which will lead you to World 2, World 3 and
World 4.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
A Koopa Troopa guards a coin block, while the 1-Up Mushroom
was replaced with a Power Up Block. Also a Power Block taken
out, and the row between the elevator platforms was
stretched. And the World -1 trick was removed because the
blocks to make it possible were removed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 1-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 1-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 1-3 with some minor changes
This is what I call a "treetop level", because you have to jump
from platform to platform. From the start, head over and jump
to the first platform. Now keep going like this, collecting the
Coins and taking out Red Koopa Troopas followed by a couple of
Goombas. After that, you should see a platform lift. Get on
that and jump over to where the Red Koopa Troopa and '?' BLOCK
is, which has a FIRE FLOWER in it. Now if you want, collect the
Coins above you, and then continue onwards. You will now come
to a Red Koopa Para-Troopa (take it out), and a Goomba after
that. After that, jump over to the upper platform.
Now you will see two moving platforms. Now this can be tricky,
(especially if you're playing this in the arcade) unless you
time it right. Jump from one moving platform to another,
collecting the Coins if you want, then head to the stationary
one and you will find a Red Koopa Troopa. Take it out and
following that is a Red Koopa Para-Troopa. Take that out and
collect the Coins and keep going right till you see a moving
platform. Now unlike in SMB, there is not a landing on the
otherside. So what you must do is wait till the lift is at the
right side then run jump over to the staircase. After that,
simply climb up it and jump over to the flagpole to finish this
level!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
On the last moving platform, you would have to long jump to
the staircase as the flooring that was there before (in SMB)
was removed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 1-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 1-4
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB Lost Levels World 1-4
Here we go, the first castle! From the start, head right,
jumping over the pits (look out for the Fire Chain), and
getting the FIRE FLOWER from the '?' BLOCK. After that jump
over right once more (another Fire Chain is here), and at the
edge, jump onto the upper path avoiding more Fire Chains (don't
take the lower path as it won't help). When you see a chance,
run right and jump over the lava pit to land on a staircase.
Climb up it, avoid the four Fire Chains and continue going
right. At the otherside of this, flames will start shooting
out, which means we are getting close to Bowser! Jump over to
where the next Fire Chain is (but don't get hit) and avoid the
flames shooting out and jump again to the right to land on a
lower area. Wait for the flames, then continue going right,
using the lower openings to help you avoid the flames. After
this, keep going right and you will encounter your first fight
with Bowser!
BOWSER FIGHT #1: (turns into a Goomba)
Here's the setup. You got a moving platform and a hopping
Bowser. If you're Fire Mario, stand back and shoot at him.
If not, then hang back until he gets closer then run under
him when he jumps. Or you can do a running long jump, which
you will be able to jump over him and the moving platform.
The moving platform won't be much use to you. Either way,
jump on the axe!
With the axe stepped on, you will then see Toad, telling you
the princess is somewheres else. After the remaining time left
gets figured into your current score, it'll be time to move on!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Nothing really has changed with this level, except the
entire layout simply because it's World 1-4 from SMB: Lost
Levels.
And with that, you have completed World 1. Let us now move on
to World 2!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
C: |World 2|
-------
WORLD 2-1
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 2-1 with some minor changes
And now we begin World 2! From the start, head right to find a
row of blocks, which the middle one has a FIRE FLOWER in it.
After that, wait for the Goomba to fall in the pit (unlike in
SMB) and climb over the staircase. Here you will see two Green
Koopa Troopas, and if you're wanting the 1-Up here, forget it
as the block was replaced with a Coin Plus Block. Take out the
turtles and run jump onto the right blocks. After that is two
Goombas, then a pipe with a Pirahna Plant. After that is two
rows of '?' BLOCKS, a Green Koopa Para-Troopa comes out (unlike
in SMB where it was a Green Koopa Troopa). There will also be
some Goombas here as well, so take them out with the turtle
shell. The first block on the bottom row is a FIRE FLOWER, so
get that if you want. Continue onwards, taking out enemies, and
above the nearby lone block is a STARMAN.
Grab that and continue heading right taking out the three
Goombas on the otherside of the pipe. Now run jump over the
long pit (where in SMB it was a shorter jump), then jump over
the pipe and continue on. Your star power should be gone now,
so continue onwards. Goombas and Pirahna Plants will be your
next challenge. At the group of pipes is a row of blocks. The
left block has a FIRE FLOWER in it. After that, continue going
right, where the are several pits to jump over (unlike in SMB
where there were only one). Watch out for the Green Koopa Para-
Troopa and past this series of pits will be two more as well as
two Goombas. Begin shooting fireballs at them as they will get
really close to you. In this area, there is a lone block at the
top with a FIRE FLOWER in it. After that, continue onwards past
the pipe, and taking out the Red Koopa Troopa. Now, use the
SPRINGBOARD to jump onto the one column of blocks (whereas in
SMB it was two columns), and jump over to the flagpole to
finish this level!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Third pipe from the start, get all the coins, and
exit. You will be at the sixth pipe.
VINE: Just after the first pipe, there are three rows of
blocks (1 row of bricks and 2 rows of '?' BLOCKS). Hit the
third block from the left to reveal a vine leading to a
coin heaven. Go through that and you will be right before
the last pipe.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
There's a small pit at the start. The 1-Up Mushroom is now a
Coin Plus Block. A Koopa Troopa is replaced with a Koopa
Para-Troopa near two rows of blocks. The pit just before the
secret pipe is longer. There are more pits towards the end,
and there is only one column of blocks near the Springboard.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 2-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 2-2
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 7-2
You will now get a cutscene showing Mario going into a pipe.
This time however you will end up in an underwater level. Fow
this level you will only have 2 enemies to deal with here:
Bloopers and Cheep Cheeps. Bloopers are more annoying than
Cheep Cheeps as they will hunt you down. Cheep Cheeps are
pretty much harmless (FOR NOW!). There really isn't anything
different with this stage, except there are alot more enemies.
Time will be a factor throughout this level as it will be
ticking down quickly, so be careful! So with that, swim to the
right, getting around (or taking out) the Bloopers and
collecting any Coins you may come across. You will eventually
come to a pit with three Coins in it. Now be warn that if you
swim over any pits, don't get too close to the bottom or it
will pull you in.
After that Cheep Cheeps will make the scene. Note that the red
ones move a bit faster than the gray ones. So with that, just
continue swimming to the right, getting around the obsticles.
Soon you will come to another large pit with five Coins, but
more Cheep Cheeps will be here, so time your moves carefully to
get the Coins. Just after that is a large wall with a narrow
gap at the top and six Coins underneath. This might be a little
tricky, but just keep blasting if you're Fire Mario. After
that, continue going right, preferably along the bottom path
and once you make it to the otherside, there will be a pipe. Go
through the pipe which will take you to the overworld. Climb
the staircase and jump on the flagpole to complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Nothing really has changed, except with the block above the
pipe, preventing people from purposely getting lodged in the
wall. There are more enemies here though, just like in SMB
World 7-2.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 2-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 2-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 7-3
Now this level might be tricky, because once you get started,
Cheep Cheeps will begin to fly fast up from the ground. Not
only that, there will be various of Koopa Troopas and Para-
Troopas roaming around. Aside from that, nothing really has
changed with this stage. From the start, head right and let the
fun begin. Soon you will see a Green Koopa Troopa followed by
some Coins and a Green Koopa Para-Troopa. Jump across the pit
and continue onwards (watch out for the Red Koopa Troopa) and
in the '?' Block is a FIRE FLOWER. After getting that, jump
over to the treetop platform on the right and take out the Red
Koopa Troopa and continue going onwards.
Soon you will see six Coins and a floating Green Koopa
Para-Troopa (I always thoguht these were on drugs lol). After
that will be floating another Green Koopa Para-Troopa with four
Coins. After that might be a bit tricky. You have to jump
across the small platforms with six Coins, while trying to
dodge flying Cheep Cheeps, so time your moves carefully here.
Once you are through that, simply continue going right until
you reach the giant staircase. Make your way up it and at the
top, jump onto the flagpole to complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Again, nothing has changed with this level, except it being
a carbon copy of World 7-3 from SMB.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 2-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 2-4
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 6-4 with some minor changes
No you aren't seeing things, this is laid out just like
World 6-4, with the massive amount of Fire Chains and Podobos.
So with that, head right, jumping over the lava pit. This next
obsticle consists of Fire Chains and Podobos, as well as a lone
'?' Block which has a FIRE FLOWER in it. My advice, jump to the
spot under the block, hit it and jump on it, then wait for your
chance to move and get over to the rightside. Once there,
simply head right, carefully not getting hit and after the four
Fire Chains, will be another tricky obsticle. You will have
Fire Chains on top and on bottom, so just jump and duck to get
across here. Once you are past that mess, fireballs will start
shooting out, so that means we're getting close! Duck down to
the lower area where you will see a Green Koopa Troopa (which
there wasn't one in SMB), and there will also be six hidden
Coin Blocks here, so find them if you want. With that out of
the way, jump across the lava pits while avoiding the fireballs
(the layout of this is different than in SMB), and soon you
will come face to face with Bowser again.
BOWSER FIGHT #2: (Green Koopa Troopa)
Now this fight will be rather easy to get through. You have
a wide area to work with so either shoot Bowser or simply
run jump at 1/3 from the left side over him and you will
land on the axe!
Just like World 6-4, except Bowser doesn't throw hammers.
There's also a Green Koopa Troopa and the layout of the area
towards the end is different as well as Bowser's fighting
area.
And with that, you have completed World 2. Let us now move on
to World 3!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
D: |World 3|
-------
WORLD 3-1
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 3-1 with several changes
And now we begin World 3! From the start head right and take
out the two Green Koopa Para-Troopas. There will also be three
'?' Blocks, which the right one has a FIRE FLOWER in it. After
that, jump over the pit (which is new) to the pipes. Pirahna
Plants and a Green Koopa Troopa is here, so take them out and
after that is a series of small pits and blocks (this area is
obviously different than in SMB). Carefully jump over this area
and at the otherside is three Goombas and a Coin Plus Bolck.
After that, jump over the pipe and take out the Green Koopa
Troopa, and continue on. After jumping over the next pipe, you
should be at a familiar area, which is a small staircase and a
long pathway with three Goomba here. The 1-Up Mushroom is not
here this time, so just keep going right. Your next obsticle
will be slightly new. There will be a STARMAN in the first
block in the row high up. However there will be pits here and a
small wall. On the otherside of that wall though is a Red Koopa
Troopa and Green Koopa Para-Troopa, and this is where you will
be able to get the Starman.
With that continue right racing through enemies. Soon you will
come to two rows of blocks, which the top row is nothing but
'?' Blocks. There will also be Hammer Brothers here, but you
can easily take them out. The fifth block from the right is a
FIRE FLOWER, so get up there and get that. While you're up
there, run jump over the large gap and land on the small row of
block. This way will be easier, as there are now newer pits
just below that (unlike in SMB). Wait for the Goombas to walk
down the staircase, and jump to it. Past that will be four
small rows of '?' Blocks, as well as Green Koopa Troopas, Green
Koopa Para-Troopas and Goombas. Of the four rows, the middle
one of the top right row has a FIRE FLOWER in it. After that,
you will see another row of blocks, which has nothing. Use that
row to get over pit and to the wall (another new change added).
On the otherside of that, is a large staircase with three
Goombas coming down it. I know, no Milking The Turtle. Anyways,
jump over and climb up the long staircase and at the top, jump
over to the flagpole to complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Second pipe from the start. Go in and get the coins
and FIRE FLOWER, then exit. You will be at the fourth pipe.
VINE: Where the two rows of blocks just to the right of
the SPRINGBOARD, hit the right block on the top row to
reveal the vine. Finish the coin heaven off, and you will
be right near the end of the level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Lots was changed with this level. New pits were added
throughout the entire level, so just be on the lookout. Also
the location of the last Power Up Block was moved. The Coin
Plus Block at the end was taken out, as well as the 1-Up
Mushroom. And the biggest change made, the Milking The
Turtle trick was removed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 3-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 3-2
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB Lost Levels World 2-2
Now this level is quite different than it's counterpart. From
the start, head right to find a Green Koopa Para-Troopa, then
some pipes and a Goomba. Get across the pipes and past that is
a Red Koopa Troopa and three Coins. After that, run jump over
the large pit and land on a small staircase. Past that is a
Pirahna Plant so take it out and jump onto the pipe. You will
see two Green Koopa Troopas come out so blast them as well as
the two Green Koopa Para-Troopas after that. With that out of
the way, run jump over to the staircase, then at the top of
that, take out the Pirahna Plant and run jump over to the pipe.
From there, take out the next Piranha Plant and jump on that
pipe then over to solid ground. Here will you see two Goombas
and a Green Koopa Para-Troopa, so take them out. Follow this
path and you will see the next obsticle, which involves a
narrow wall and a lone block above it.
In the lone block is nothing, but jump over to the right and
jump on the first Green Koopa Troopa. Now kick it to the right
to take out three more Green Koopa Troopas, then two more Green
Koopa Troopas. Step on the first Green Koopa Troopa of the next
three, and a first one you kicked will bounce off of a pipe,
and come flying your way, taking out the three Green Koopa
Troopas. If done correctly, you will get a 1-UP from this.
After that, continue going right to the pipe. There will be a
Green Koopa Troopa and two lone blocks. The bottom one is a
Coin Plus Block and the top one is a FIRE FLOWER. After that,
jump over to right solid floor where a Red Koopa Troopa will
come out. Walk a bit more to the right and you will see that
you can't go anywheres. Well, from the right edge, go back one
step and jump to find a hidden block.
Get on that and stand on the left edge and jump up for another
one. Jump on that, and then onto the pipe (take out the Pirahna
Plant) then run jump over to the lower floor on the far right.
Here will be two Green Koopa Troopas so take them out and
continue going right. Over the small wall will be a Green Koopa
Para-Troopa and a Pirahna Plant. Past that, a Red Koopa Troopa,
two Goombas and further down a Green Koopa Para-Troopa (nothing
big here). Now for this next obsticle, run jump onto the lone
blocks then over to the large staircase. Watch out for the
Goombas coming down it, and climb up it. At the top, jump over
to the flagpole to complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Nothing out of the ordinary with this level, just the usual
pain in the necks as it is a copy of World 2-2 from SMB:
Lost Levels.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 3-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 3-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 3-3 with some minor changes
Here we go with another treetop level. From the start, head
right and jump on the first treetop platform you see. Avoid the
Green Koopa Para-Troopa (unlike in SMB where it was a Goomba)
floating above there and jump over to the moving platform. From
there, run jump all the way to the far right treetop. Here you
will see two Red Koopa Troopas and a '?' Block, which has a
FIRE FLOWER in it. When getting that, watch out for another
Green Koopa Para-Troopa (which is new) coming at you. With that
out of the way, jump over to the upper right treetops, then run
jump across the platform drop and land on the upper treetops.
Don't drop down to the lower treetop because that will just
throw all of this out of whack. So while on the upper treetops,
a Green Koopa Para-Troopa will come out. Take this out or get
around it and then jump to the upper treetop with the Coin on
it.
From there, jump over to the platform scales, and get across
this carefully, and jump onto the top moving platform. While on
that, let it travel a bit then run jump to the highest treetop
on the far right. You with me so far, good! Now from that
point, jump on the lower treetop where the Red Koopa Troopa is.
From there, run jump way across the long gap, and if you time
it right, you can bounce off of the Red Koopa Para-Troopas and
land on a treetop (unlike in SMB where you could land on a
lower treetop, which was removed). Next up is two Green Koopa
Troopas, so take them out. Now you should see a moving
platform, so get on that, and from there, onto the platform
scales. Stand on the left for a bit and run jump on the right
and run jump to the right and you will land on the flagpole.
Doing so will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
The biggest change is that there are more enemies scattered
throughout the level. The first Green Koopa Para-Troopa
replaces a Goomba. Towards the end, the last treetop (from
SMB) area was redone, with two treetops, and one treetop was
removed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 3-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 3-4
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 3-4 with several changes
Another castle level, so let's get started! From the start,
head right, jumping over the pits, avoiding the Podobos and
Fire Chains. Do be careful about that, and once you are around
this, head to the three '?' Blocks, the last one having a FIRE
FLOWER in it. Be careful as this area around these blocks now
have lava pits (unlike in SMB where it was all solid). After
that, jump over the next lava pit (watch out for the Podobo),
and continue onwards, jumping through the pairs of Fire Chains,
and avoiding the small lava pits (which is another new change
to this level). With the last pair of Fire Chains is three
Coins, so get those and then jump to the upper path on the
right (another Podobo will appear). Up there is a Red Koopa
Troopa (another new thing), so take it out. Now after that,
simply head right, watching out for the Podobos, jumping over
the lava pits. Also note that fireballs will start shooting out
at you, which means you're getting close to finishing this
level. After get across this, you will see another Red Koopa
Troopa (again, new), so take it out and jump across the pits
(and yes, this is a new change too), and you will be face to
face with Bowser again!
BOWSER FIGHT #3: (Buzzy Beetle)
Now this fight might be a bit tough. Obviously with Fire
Mario, just stand from a distance and blast away. Other than
that, you have Bowser and a Podobo to deal with. Wait till
Bowser is halfway across and when he jumps up, run under him
fast and jump on the axe.
The main change to this is that there are alot more pits and
lava pits throughout here, making things a bit more tough.
There are also two Red Koopa Troopas during the last half of
the level.
And with that, you have completed World 3. Let us now move on
to World 4!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
E: |World 4|
-------
WORLD 4-1
TIME LIMIT: 350
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 4-1 with some minor changes
Here we go with World 4! This level is rather straight forward,
so nothing really noteworthy about it. From the start, head
right to the pipe and you will see a Lakitu drop out some
Spinys. Past the pipe is two '?' Blocks, the lower of which has
a FIRE FLOWER in it. Watch out for the Spinys, and jump over
the pit and continue right, collecting the four Coins and
jumping over the next pit (this is new). After that, simply
keep going right, until you reach a row of '?' Blocks. Unlike
in SMB, there is no hidden 1-Up Mushroom here. With that,
continue going right, avoiding or taking out all the Spinys
being tossed out that may get in your way. After making your
way past a couple pipes and collecting Coins, you will come to
two rows of blocks.
The last '?' Block of the set in the lower left will contain a
FIRE FLOWER, but be careful getting it because the Spinys will
gang up on you. After that, get on the bottom row of blocks and
simply continue going right, past the pipe. Soon you will come
to two pits and a floating Green Koopa Para-Troopa (this is
new). Take out the Para-Troopa and jump over the pits, and
carefully jump over the two small block walls (also new). Once
past that, just keep going right and you will come to a large
staircase. Jump up it, and over the pit at the top (another new
thing added) and at the top, jump over to the flagpole which
will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Third pipe from the start. In here, get the coins and
the FIRE FLOWER from the lone block (if you can), and exit.
You will be at the fourth pipe.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Obviously the 1-Up Mushroom is not here. A Green Koopa Para-
Troopa hovers over the two pits towards the end. A few new
pits and block walls also appear in here unlike in SMB,
including the large staircase, which has a wide pit at the
top.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 4-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 4-2
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 4-2 with several changes
You will now get a cutscene showing Mario going into a pipe.
Get ready for another underground level! From the start, jump
over the pits and into the middle pathway and you will see a
Green Koopa Troopa, so blast it. At that point is three Coins,
so drop down there and hit the block sticking out to reveal a
FIRE FLOWER. Now back onto the pathway, three Goombas are ahead
of you so take them out, and five steps left from the edge,
jump up and then again to find a Coin Plus Block. After that,
will be three small rows of '?' Blocks, with just Coins in them
(unlike in SMB where there was a FIRE FLOWER in one of them).
After that, run jump over the pit and head right to the pipes.
A Green Koopa Troopa guards a Coin Plus Block, then get on the
highest block. Now the rest of this can be done one of two
ways. Take out the top blocks and jump onto the ceiling. While
on here, you can run along the ceiling with no problem, and
keep going till you get tot he three rows of blocks. If you
chose not to do that, on the otherside of the tall pipe, a
Buzzy Beetle guards a STARMAN, so carefully get that.
With it, start racing right, taking out as many enemies as you
can and jumping over pits. You will then come to three rows of
blocks surrounded by elevator platforms. In the middle row, hit
the second block for a FIRE FLOWER. After that, continue past
the pipes and find a Goomba coming down a small staircase. Now
this next part is laid out differently than in SMB. Get across
the elevator platform and hug the right wall and HOPEFULLY you
will land in the lower pathway. Now there is no Fire Flower,
unlike in SMB, but there are Red Koopa Troopas, so take them
out and collect the Coins. Now climb up the short staircase,
and run jump onto the tall pipe. From there, get over to the
sideway pipe and enter it. There are a few obvious ways this
can be done, so just choose any one you want. You will now be
above ground, so just climb up the large staircase. At the top,
jump over to the flagpole which will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Fourth pipe from the start. Go in, get all the coins
(including from the lone block), then exit. You will be at
the sixth pipe.
VINE: Right after the pit with the elevator lifts, there is
a row of blocks. Underneath is hidden coin blocks. Jump up
at the 3rd and 4th step away from the edge to reveal the
blocks. Jump on those then up at the other blocks and a
vine will be there. Climb it and get the coins. At the other
side is a Warp Zone and a warp to World 6 (unlike in SMB).
OTHER: Also stand on the last pipe, jump up destroying the
blocks and run along the rooftop. At the end is a Warp Zone
leading to World 5.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
The biggest change would be no Warp Zone to World 7 or
World 8, which makes this game really long. The second and
last Power Up Block (that was in SMB) was removed. The
layout towards the end where the row of Coins is, is
slightly altered, with Red Koopa Troopas. And the blocks
above the exit pipe is gone.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 4-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 4-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 4-3 with some minor changes
Here we go with another treetop level! So from the start, head
over to the first treetop. Now wait till the Red Koopa Troopa
moves out of the way, and jump over to the next platform.
Collect the Coins you see here, and continue going right,
jumping to the highest treetop on the right. There you will see
a Red Koopa Para-Troopa and a Red Koopa Troopa on the lower
treetop. Jump over to the higher one and hit the '?' Block for
a FIRE FLOWER. From there, jump over across the platform scales
and then across the platform lifts and make your way to the
middle treetop. Collect the Coins here, and head to the right
treetop, where the Red Koopa Troopa is. Take it out and make
your way across the three pairs of platform scales. It's best
to run jump from the right one of the first pair to the right
one of the second pair, and continue run jumping across these
until you land on a treetop. Get the Coins and continue going
right and you will come to a short platform lift (unlike in SMB
where it was longer). From there, run jump to the right and
then jump onto the flagpole (you'll probably get a low score
from it), and that will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Nothing really has changed here, except the last platform
lift is a bit shorter, and the pit under it is a bit longer.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 4-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 4-4
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 5-4 with some minor changes
Another castle level here. From the start, head right to the
edge and you will see your first obsticle, which consists of
Podobos and a long Fire Chain. The lone '?' Block has a FIRE
FLOWER in it so get that if you can. After that, make your way
across this obsticle and you will then be faced with another
one. This one has an upper and lower path, both filled with
Fire Chains (and some new small gaps unlike in SMB). My advice
is take the upper path as it will be slightly easy. Time your
moving carefully, and when you get past this mess, drop down
then jump to where the next Fire Chain is. Next you will see a
pair of platform elevators going in opposite directions.
Fireballs will shooting out, so we are getting ever so close to
Bowser! Now jump across those and if you can run jump onto the
ceiling on the right. Now the remaining of this level is laid
out differently than SMB. What you need to do is jump and land
where the block of the Fire Chain is and then jump right to the
narrow landing spot. From here, you need carefully jump across
the lava pits, avoiding Podobos and fireballs. Once past this,
you will be face to face with Bowser.
BOWSER FIGHT #4: (Spiny)
The setup is this: A row of blocks at the top and a moving
platform past that. A Podobo is also here, and a small lava
pit. As Fire Mario, shoot at Bowser. If not, get past the
Podobo and wait for Bowser to jump so you can run. Or you
can try and get on the row of blocks, and wait till he gets
as far left as he can and run over and jump on the axe.
While this is World 5-4 of SMB, the second obsticle has new
small gaps and the second half of the level was redone with
several lava pits and tricky jumps.
And with that, you have completed World 4. Let us now move on
to World 5!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------

F: |World 5|
-------
WORLD 5-1
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 5-1 with some minor changes
Well now we are halfway through this challenging game, so let's
get the second half started with World 5! From the start, a
Green Koopa Troopa will come out, so stomp on it and kick it to
the right (performing a Domino Effect) and follow it as it will
take out all the Goombas in its way. Be careful because it will
bounce off of a pipe, so be ready to jump. Now at the pipe,
jump across the pit and onto the next pipe. You will then see a
Green Koopa Para-Troopa come out, so step on it and perform
another Domino Effect by kicking it to the right, taking out
the Buzzy Beetles (which were Goombas in SMB) and then
(hopefully) another Green Koopa Para-Troopa. After that, you
will see a row of blocks at the top. Hit the middle one for a
STARMAN, and get that. Now jump to the right, taking out the
Buzzy Beetles and then any Bullet Bills that may shoot out.
After the invincibilty wears off, jump over the pit and land on
the stack of blocks.
You'll see three Goombas and a Koopa Troopa. Stomp on the Koopa
Troopa and kick it LEFT. It'll hit the Goombas, bounce off the
wall and goes the other way continuing the Domino Effect
attack. Chase after it cuatiously, and if done correctly you
will actually get a 1-UP. People who know how to do this from
SMB can figure out what I meant. Once past all of that, you
will see where the 1-Up Mushroom would be, but guess what, it's
not there. So jump over the pit and run up to the Bullet Bill
cannon. Wait and jump over it and continue going right, and
soon you will come to a Green Koopa Para-Troopa, and then
another one. Following that is a staircase. Now I don't think
you could pull off a Milk The Turtle trick here (by the Para-
Troopa jumping on the stairs), if you can, then go for it.
Either way, jump up the staircase, and at the top blocks, run
jump over to the flagpole to complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: The pipe that's suspended in the air is the secret
one. Inside, get all the coins and exit and you will be at
the next pipe over.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Nothing too much to mention. The second grouping of Goombas
are now Buzzy Beetles, and the secret pipe (towards the end)
is lowered down. And of course, no 1-Up Mushroom, and
getting a 1-Up from the Domino Effect isn't as easy to
obtain.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 5-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 5-2
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 5-2 with some minor changes
Now this is a pretty lengthy level so be ready. From the start,
head up the nearby staircase and over the Bullet Bill Cannon.
Now jump over the pit and to the two rows of blocks. Now in
SMB, there was a Fire Flower here, but this time there isn't.
Instead you get a Bullet Bill Cannon on the flooring area. Now
this might be tough, get on the top row and walk toward the
edge and you will see a Hammer Brother. As Fire Mario, simply
stand there and blast at it. If not, do a long run jump OVER
the Hammer Brother and quickly get away from it. After that,
head right, jumping over the new pits (unlike in SMB) and onto
the pipe, waiting for the Goombas to fall into the pit. After
that, climb up the short staircase, jump over the pit and
another the otherside of the staircase, continue going right.
You will then see a row of '?' Blocks and a Hammer Brother. Get
close, and wait till it get on the blocks and hit them to take
it out. Now this is completely different than in SMB. Jump over
the small pit, but stand at the leftside of the next flooring.
Jump up to reveal a hidden block. Now run jump on to it, and
jump up above that to the block to reveal a FIRE FLOWER.
After that, continue onwards, jumping over the wide pit, and
taking out the Green Koopa Para-Troopa, and avoiding the Bullet
Bills that shoot out. Get to the Bullet Bill Cannon and past
that will be a pair of Hammer Brothers and two rows of blocks.
Take them out the same way as before, hitting them from below,
but be careful as they can drop down from the top row to the
bottom floor. Take them out and the last block on the top row
has a STARMAN in it. Get that and plow through the nearby Buzzy
Beetles and Green Koopa Para-Troopa. You'll see two blocks as
well, the left one has a Coin Plus Block and the right one has
a FIRE FLOWER in it. After this, jump over the pit and continue
running through enemies. At the pits with the pipe, two steps
from the edge is a hidden block. Jump over the pits with the
help of the pipe, and after a few steps you'll see the
staircase (with some pits in them). Watch out for the Green
Koopa Para-Troopa and climb up the staircase and jump to the
flagpole, which will complete this level!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: The first pipe in the level. This is a underwater
bonus area. Just get the coins, avoid the enemies and try
not to get stuck under an elevator platform. At the
otherside, exit through the pipe and you will be on the
overworld at the second pipe.
VINE: Go to where you see three lone blocks in the air. Hit
the third one to reveal the vine. To get on it, go three
steps from the Bullet Bill Cannon and jump up to reveal a
hidden block. The rest is obvious. Get the coins up there
and you will end up past where the two Hammer Brothers were.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Some minor changes at first, Past the second Hammer Brother
is where the layout is completely redone, including a new
location for the Vine while the old one is a Power Up Block.
The last Power Up Block has been replaced with a hidden
block.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 5-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 5-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 6-3 with some minor changes
Another treetop level, but this one is World 6-3 from SMB. So
with that, from the start, head right and jump across the
treetops and onto the platform lift. Get the Coins and jump
over to the right treetop, then use the SPRINGBOARD and jump
way up on the moving platform that's up in the sky. This might
be tricky, because of timing of it all, but it won't be that
bad. Now on the moving platform, go across the next two and you
will see a lone '?' Block, which has a FIRE FLOWER in it, so
get that. Now on top of the block, jump over to the right and
you will land on the platform lift. From there, at the highest
point, jump over to the treetop on the right, and then run jump
across the platform scales. Now jump across this one and the
next pair of platform scales and then over to the treetop.
After a couple steps, Bullet Bills will start shooting out of
nowheres, so be ready to dodge. From the treetop, drop down to
the lower ones and continue going right, jumping across the
treetops, and you will come to another SPRINGBOARD. Use that to
jump way up on the moving platform up in the sky. While on it,
you will then be taken over to the a pair of platform scales.
Cross over this and this next obsticle might be tricky
(especially in the arcade version). You must cross over four
platform drops and safely land on a treetop. The good thing is
the Bullet Bills will stop shooting out at you. Now once you
get over to the treetop, run jump over to the flagpole, which
will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Aside from it being a complete copy of World 6-3 from SMB,
nothing extraordinary about it, except that it's all shown
in daylight.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 5-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 5-4
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 4-4 with some minor changes
Now this castle level is the first of three maze like areas. So
if you want, you can refer to my map for this game, which can
be found on the FAQ Section for this game. From the start, jump
over the two lava pits and at the otherside, you need to run
jump to the upper pathway and head right running across the
very narrow gaps. Past this is a Fire Chain, so when it's
lowered down, run past that. Keep going from there, and you
will see where the two paths will come together and form a
middle opening. Go through that, and here is the second part of
this maze. You will see a few platforms ahead, so jump on those
until you reach the top. Now drop down into the narrow gap you
see and go left and drop through that gap until you are on the
lower pathway. Once you make it onto the lower pathway, simply
run right, avoiding the Fire Chain that you will see. To know
you did this all right, fireballs will begin shooting at you.
Now unlike in SMB, you will need to slow down shortly after
getting past the Fire Chain because there will be some newly
made pits up ahead, which has a Podobo shooting upwards. Once
there, carefully jump over the pits onto the narrow ledges, and
then jump up to the right and you will be again in the presense
of Bowser.
BOWSER FIGHT #5: (Lakitu)
Okay this setup is slightly tough because of the setup. You
will have a Fire Chain and Podobo just past that. Use the
cubby hole and shoot at Bowser. If not, I would suggest
possibly doing a long run jump over everything and then jump
on the axe.
The only new change added to this level, aside from it being
a copy of World 4-4 from SMB, is that there is more pits
towards the end of the level.
And with that, you have completed World 5. Let us now move on
to World 6!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
G: |World 6|
-------
WORLD 6-1
TIME LIMIT: 350
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 6-1 with minor changes
Here we go with World 6! As you can tell this is a nighttime
level, which is always cool. From the start, head right,
collecting the Coins from the '?' Blocks and jumping over the
pit. You will be faced with a Lakitu, so avoid this as you are
going through this level. Over the long staircase of blocks
(which use to have '?' Blocks in SMB, but not here), jump over
to the row of blocks and the last one is a Coin Plus Block.
After that, simply continue going right, taking out Spinys (as
Fire Mario) and collecting Coins and jumping over the small
pits. Soon you will come to a familar broken staircase looking
structure. In the original SMB, this is where the 1-Up Mushroom
would be, but not in this game! Infact this area has nothing of
value so simply continue going right and you will find a pipe
with a Pirahna Plant in it. Past that is some more Coins, so
get those.
Keep going right and at the next staircase, you will see
several blocks including two '?' Blocks. The left one of these
two has a FIRE FLOWER in it, so get that if you want. Now with
that out of the way, continue going right to the next
staircase. Here will be a Red Koopa Para-Troopa (which is new).
Of here, the right block of the middle row of blocks is a Coin
Plus Block. So now, after taking out the Red Koopa Para-Troopa,
head right past that and you will come to a pit, and a
staircase just past that. Wait for the moment, as the Goombas
(new thing) walk down the staircase and fall into the pit (dumb
Goombas!) and climb up it. As you do, you will see another Red
Koopa Para-Troopa (another new thing). Take it out or wait till
it's lowered down and jump over the pit. Once you do that, jump
over to the flagpole in front of you and then you will have
completed this level!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Obviously the 1-Up Mushroom isn't here. Also the first Power
Up Block (at the start) is gone. Furthermore, Red Koopa
Para-Troopas and Goombas inhabit this level as well. Plus
new pits towards the end of the level.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 6-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 6-2
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 6-2 with very little changes
Now this level is a rather interesting one, which I call Pipe
Land. Despite all the pipes, this is rather straight-forward.
From the start, head right and between the first two pipes is a
Green Koopa Troopa and Coin Plus Block in the row of block
above. After that, jump over the pit (this is new) continue
onwards across the pipes and soon you will see a Buzzy Beetle.
At this point is two blocks, with the right one containing a
FIRE FLOWER. Get that, and jump on the right pipe, and continue
onwards (watch out for the Goomba), jumping over more newly
created pits. Your next landmark point will be a Green Koopa
Troopa in between two pipes. From there, jump right to the next
pipe, and keep going across the pipes and soon you will come to
a Buzzy Beetle. After that is a long pit, so do a long run jump
across it.
At the otherside, cross over the two pipes and jump on the
small row of blocks. At the right edge, jump up to the other
block to reveal a STARMAN, so get that. Now stay along the
upper row of blocks and long run jump across over to the pipe
surrounded by blocks. From there, continue going right, taking
out the Buzzy Beetle and Goomba. Nothing is in the two rows of
blocks (at that point) so quickly race through across the pipes
and jumping over the pits. Soon you will come to three pipes
stuck together, so jump over them and head right. You will then
come to a staircase, which if you're expecting a Green Koopa
Para-Troopa, forget it, because this one has three Goombas.
Take those out and the Pirahna Plant and climb up the
staircase. At the top, run jump over to the flagpole which will
complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE #1: First pipe from the start. Get the coins in there
and exit. You will be at the fourth pipe.
PIPE #2: Seventh pipe (or 3 pipes from the last one you
exited from). This is an underwater one, just like in
World 5-2. Get the coins and exit. You will be at the
seventeenth pipe.
PIPE #3: Twentith pipe (or 3 pipes from the last one you
exited from). Get the coins and FIRE FLOWER, then exit. You
will be at the twenty-third pipe.
VINE: Go to the eleventh pipe. On the right side, jump up
for a hidden coin block. Jump up to the block under it to
reveal a vine. Go through the coin heaven and exit. You
will end up just before the twenty-first pipe.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
New pits are found in this level, but not many and nothing
too drastic. Also at the end, there are three Goombas
instead of a Green Koopa Para-Troopa, basically taking away
another chance of Milking The Turtle.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 6-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 6-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB Lost Levels World 4-3
For this level, it's a crazy journey, infact this is pretty
much where I gave up on the game when I was younger lol. Now I
call this Ice Land because of all the gray treetops and stuff,
but you don't slide around. From the starting point, head right
and long jump to the first treetop. Jump on the RED SPRINGBOARD
to get on the platform drop above you. From there, quickly jump
to the moving platform then to the platform scales, then the
next moving platform, then jump over to the treetop platform
(watch out for the Red Koopa Para-Troopa). Now once you're on
the treetop, this might be tricky, you must long jump over the
huge pit and land onto the next treetop. There will be a Red
Koopa Para-Troopa in the way that MIGHT help you. Once you
successfully land on the next treetop, head to the RED
SPRINGBOARD and get on the moving platform next to it. You will
be able to get the '?' Block which has a FIRE FLOWER in it.
After that, jump over to the next treetop, then the one just
past that. Now you will be greeted by Bullet Bills that will
come out at random locations. From the treetop, jump to the
platform drop, then to the platform scales and then to the long
treetop just past that (upper or lower one, doesn't matter,
though there's a Red Koopa Troopa on the lower one). From
there, either use the platform drop (upper) or long jump
(lower) to the next treetop. From here, continue going right to
find two Red Koopa Para-Troopas, so take them out. Now you must
carefully jump to the lone block you see, then jump to the next
lone block. Using this top lone block, jump over to the
flagpole, which will complete this level!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Aside from it being a carbon copy of World 4-3 from SMB Lost
Levels, nothing exciting about this level. If you never
played the Lost Levels before, you will want to give up on
this level, trust me on that ^_^.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 6-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 6-4
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB Lost Levels World 5-4
And here we go again with another castle level, and this one
will be a bit tricky to get through. From the starting point,
jump across the two lava pits and continue going right. Ahead
of you is jump across the platform drop, avoiding the Podobo
and land safely on the middle flooring. Watch out for the next
Podobo and jump over to the next flooring where the Fire Chain
is. From there, jump right to the next flooring, but watch out
for the Fire Chain. You will see the lone block, which has a
FIRE FLOWER in it, but be careful when getting it because of
the Fire Chains (probably best to get it from the right side).
After that, jump across the lava pits on the right by landing
on the narrow flooring (there will be more Podobos shooting
upwards, so time your moves carefully), and you will land on a
flooring where a Fire Chain is above it. Now if you're Small
Mario, you'll have a shot at this. On the flooring, run jump to
the right and you will land on an upper flooring which has six
Coins on it. This way is much easier to take, except for the
Podobo shooting upwards.
Up here, collect the Coins and watch for an opening with the
Fire Chain and run onto that flooring. Get around this, and
begin jump across the lone blocks (more Podobos), but doing a
medium pace run jump across each. Past this, you will be on
solid ground, where a Fire Chain is above you. Simply head
right and you will see two paths you can take. It's best to
stay along the path you are on, so do that and carefully make
it around the Fire Chains (tricky) and at the edge, jump across
the lava pit. Now this obsticle might tricky. Guickly run jump
to the upper right platform, then to the lower one, then the
upper right (avoiding the long Fire Chain) and then you will be
on solid flooring again. Once on solid ground, simply run right
and fireballs will shoot out (you're getting close!). Now run
jump over the lava pit and simply run along the lower pathway.
At the otherside, you will see a small staircase so jump up it
and get ready for another Bowser fight!
BOWSER FIGHT #6: (Blooper)
Now this one might be pretty tough. Your setup is three rows
of blocks clumped together, a moving platform, and a Podobo.
Bowser will also throw hammers at you. As Fire Mario, get as
far back as you can and shoot. As anything else, get past
the Podobo, and wait till Bowser is far away from the axe.
When he jumps, run fast and jump on the axe.
Another duplicate World 5-4 of SMB Lost Levels. Nothing much
has changed, except Bowser throws hammers in this version.
Aside from that, very tricky level.
And with that, you have completed World 6. Let us now move on
to World 7!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
H: |World 7|
-------
WORLD 7-1
TIME LIMIT: 350
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 7-1 with some minor changes
Here we go with World 7! From the start, head right and you
will see a Bullet Bill Cannon, with a Green Koopa Para-Troopa
right behind that (it will jump over the cannon so be careful).
Past that is another cannon, so get on that and above there is
a row of blocks. Hit the left block for a FIRE FLOWER (which
you can't get to, but can if it was a Super Mushroom). Now jump
over the pit (a new feature) and watch out for the Green Koopa
Para-Troopa and land on the row of '?' Blocks. Nothing is here
so continue going right avoiding Bullet Bills (remember
standing next to the cannons will cause them not to shoot) and
Green Koopa Para-Troopas and soon you will be at a cannon on
top of blocks. The right one of the left is a Coin Plus Block,
but be careful getting it. Now keep going right to the pipe and
past that is a pair of Hammer Brothers and two rows of '?'
Blocks (which was regular blocks in SMB). Take these out and on
the next pipe would have been the 1-Up Mushroom, but not in
this game!
After that simply continue going right, and you will be faced
with more Pirahna Plants and Bullet Bills and a Green Koopa
Troopa. Pretty self-explanitory, so get across this till you
reach the pit (another new thing). Jump over that and you will
be faced with another pair of Hammer Brothers. Get around this
and over the small wall ahead of you, as well as onto the
Bullet Bill Cannon. Now from there, jump to the small row of
blocks to the right then land on the SPRINGBOARD. On here, jump
up to the lone block in the sky to reveal a FIRE FLOWER. After
that, climb up the staircase, and then wait for the three
Goombas come down the stairs and fall into the water pit
(unlike in SMB where it was a Buzzy Beetle, thus allowing you
to milk it). After that, climb up that staircase, and then at
the top, run jump over onto the flagpole which will complete
this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Second pipe from the start. Get the coins here and
exit. You will now be at the fourth pipe.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Changes made to this level, includes a longer stretch to the
first Power Up Block as well as the pit following it. The
first pair of Hammer Brothers have rows of '?' Blocks
instead. The areas where the Buzzy Beetle at the end was
replaced with three Goombas and a water pit. And of course,
no 1-Up Mushroom.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 7-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 7-2
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB Lost Levels World 6-2 with some minor changes
You will now get a cutscene showing Mario going into a pipe.
Time to go swimming again! From the start, swim right, taking
out or avoiding the Blooper, and soon you will see another
Blooper and a Cheep Cheep as well as five Coins towards the
bottom. Following that will be more Cheep Cheeps and Bloopers
and a few more Coins. This next area will be a rather tight
squeeze because of the seaweed walls and enemies swarming
around. Wait till you get an opening, then get through there,
and continue onwards. Now in this levels counterpart, there was
Red Koopa Para-Troopas throughout here, but they were removed.
So with that, continue swimming right and I would say swim
towards the upper pathway, so do that and get past that and
continue onwards. Soon you'll see a platform elevator, so wait
for the opening and go across that and collect the three Coins
you see. Get around the Bloopers then the Cheep Cheeps and you
will see more platform elevators. Now be careful because if you
get stuck under this one, you're sunked.
Go through this and continue following the middle path, dealing
with Cheep Cheeps. Once out in the open swim right a bit more
and you will be in another tight spot. When you see an opening,
swim through there quickly, collecting the five Coins if you
want. Be careful though, because this will be tricky to get
around due to the random directions the enemies will swim. Once
past this mess, get the Coins and continue going right and you
will see two paths you can take, including Coins on the bottom
path. Past this though is another platform elevator, so get
past that, then go through the narrow path or the one under it,
and just keep going right, avoiding more Cheep Cheeps and at
the otherside is two Bloopers and a pipe. Get around the squids
and go into the pipe. You will now be taken above ground, so
climb up the staircase and at the top, run jump over to the
flagpole which will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Aside from it being World 6-2 of SMB Lost Levels, nothing
drastic has changed except any Koopa Troopas and Koopa Para-
Troopas have been removed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 7-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 7-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB Lost Levels World 6-3 with some minor changes
Get ready for another insanely crazy Cheep Cheep level. From
the start, get on the small staircase, and run jump over to the
lower flooring, and the Cheep Cheeps will start flying. On this
one is a floating Green Koopa Para-Troopa, followed by a Red
Koopa Troopa on the next one and another floating Green Koopa
Para-Troopa. After that, run jump across the smaller platforms
and you will come to a Red Koopa Para-Troopa with a '?' Block
above it, which contains a FIRE FLOWER. You really can't get
it, but a Super Mushroom you can get, simply wait till the
Para-Troopa is a little above halfway up and jump on it. Now
after that, continue jumping to the right avoiding the Cheep
Cheeps. This next flooring has Green Koopa Para-Troopas and Red
Koopa Troopas.
Get around that, and you will jump to a treetop, which has a
Red Koopa Troopa. There use to be a block here, but it was
removed. Now jump over to the right treetop, then platform jump
across the small platforms, avoiding the Green Koopa
Para-Troopa and Cheep Cheeps. This will be rather tough to get
through so be careful. After much of this will be another Green
Koopa Para-Troopa so watch out for that. Soon you will come to
four Coins, so get those and after that continue onwards to
find yet another Green Koopa Para-Troopa along some narrows
gaps. After through this mess, you will see a treetop, which
you need to run jump from treetop to treetop. After about four
of these, long run jump over the Red Koopa Para-Troopa and you
will land on the flagpole which will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Another copy of World 6-3 of SMB Lost Levels. The second
Power Up Block has been removed, and it's slightly difficult
to get through here, but nothing else has changed.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 7-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 7-4
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 7-4 with some changes
Another castle level, and this one is another maze mess. So
if you want, you can refer to my map for this game, which can
be found on the FAQ Section for this game. The layout is the
same as the SMB World 7-4, except the solution is different.
From the start, head right and you will see two platform drops
and a Podobo. Jump across these and at the otherside is where
the fun will begin. Start off by taking the lower path until
you see two long platforms. Now jump up on the left edge of the
lower platform, then at that point, jump up onto the upper
platform. Run across here, and at the edge, drop down to the
lower path and jump up to the upper right pathway. Now run
across here, and drop off over the rightside.
Here comes the second part of this maze. On the lowest floor,
jump right over the two lava pits and at the otherside, slowly
go right and you will see several small platforms. Here's what
you need to do to get around this. The first platform on the
lower row, jump up on it and from there, jump up to the middle
platform of the upper row. From there, jump across to the right
platform of the upper row. Once on that, drop down from the
right side of that and go to the lowest floor. After that,
climb up the short staircase, and continue going right and
fireballs will start to shoot out. You will now be faced with
several lava pits, which you need to jump across carefully
while dodging fireballs. Once you get past that, you will then
be ready for another Bowser fight.
BOWSER FIGHT #7: (Hammer Brother)
Now this fight might be a challenge. Your layout is an open
room with a Podobo shooting upwards, and Bowser throwing
hammers. As Fire Mario, stand as far back as you can, and
shoot at him. If not, you can either do one of two tricks.
Get close to him and run under him when he jumps, or wait
for an opening (from his hammer attacks) and do a long run
jump over him. Either way, jump on the axe after that.
The layout is exactly the same as SMB World 7-4, but the
only thing that is different is the solution for both parts
is completely different. Infact the second solution is hard
to figure.
And with that, you have completed World 7. Let us now move on
to World 8!
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
I: |World 8|
-------
WORLD 8-1
TIME LIMIT: 350
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 8-1 with some minor changes
Here we go with World 8, the final world! From the start, head
right to the Buzzy Beetle, step on it and kick it right to
perform a Domino Effect on the Goombas, but be ready to jump
when it hits the pipe. At the pipe, two Green Koopa Troopas
will come out so blast them. After that, run across the narrow
pits and across this is another Green Koopa Troopa so be ready
for that. Goombas follow that then two pipes and a Buzzy
Beetle. Here would normally have been a 1-Up Mushroom, but once
again, it's gone. So with that, continue going right jump over
pipes and collecting Coins. You'll see three Goombas, so take
them out and continue going right to find several Green Koopa
Troopas. After that, is more Goombas past the next pipe. After
that, there will be two small walls with a row of blocks above
that and a Green Koopa Para-Troopa. In the middle of the row is
a Coin Plus Block, so get that if you want and over the second
small wall is some more Green Kooopa Para-Troopas. Once those
are out of the way, run across the narrow pits and you will see
another row of blocks.
Of this one, the third block has a STARMAN, so grab that, and
race to the right over the narrow pits, taking out the Green
Koopa Troopas. Continue going right and perform a long run jump
over the wide pit, then take out the Goombas and climb across
the pipes. Next up is a Buzzy Beetle followed by several
Goombas, so race through those if you still have your
invincibilty power. After that it should wear off, you should
be at a medium size staircase. Climb up it and on the
otherside, is a Buzzy Beetle, so let that one fall off over the
pit. Speaking of that, jump across the two pits, then continue
on, ignore the Green Koopa Troopa, and at the next spot could
be tricky. You must run jump across the first pit and land on
the narrow flooring and run jump across the second pit. After
that, Green Koopa Troopas will come out, so take them out if
you want. After that is a pipe with a Pirahna Plant, and then
another one, and finally a broken up staircase. Climb up it
(including the new wider pit) and at the top, run jump over to
the flagpole which will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Fifth pipe from the start. Go in there, get the coins
and exit. You'll be at the sixth pipe.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
The time limit got upped to 350, the 1-Up Mushroom was
removedand the final staircase has a wider pit at the top.
Aside from that, this level was more or less unchanged.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 8-2.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 8-2
TIME LIMIT: 350
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 8-2 with some minor changes
Now this level might be tricky to get through. From the start,
head right to find some Green Koopa Para-Troopas coming down.
Yes you could try the Milking The Turtle trick, but there is a
Lakitu which will make this extremely difficult, so just don't
try. After climbing the staircase, on the otherside is a row of
'?' Blocks with Coins. After that you will see a SPRINGBOARD,
which if you use it to jump directly upwards, a FIRE FLOWER
will emerge (unlike in SMB where it was a 1-Up Mushroom). After
that, continue going right, taking out Green Koopa Para-Troopas
and Goombas (these are new) and past this, the row of blocks
you could jump on was removed, so you need to jump over the
pits and the Bullet Bill Cannon. Get on that, and continue
going right past the Bullet Bills and Green Koopa Para-Troopas.
You will see two blocks, which the right one has a FIRE FLOWER
in it. After that, simply jump from cannon to cannon, avoiding
enemies, and you will soon come to a pipe.
At that point is another Green Koopa Para-Troopa, so take it
out and go to the next pipe. Now this one will be a MASSIVE
pain. You must do a massive long run jump either using the pipe
or the narrow floorings. Now at the otherside, jump over the
two pipes and at the otherside will be Green Koopa Para-
Troopas. Be careful when taking these out, and then continue
going right to find another Bullet Bill Cannon. For this,
simply jump on it then wait for the Goombas to come down the
stairs, and jump over the pit. Climb the staircase, then onto
the Bullet Bill Cannon, and on that, slowly inch a bit to the
right to cause a Green Koopa Para-Troopa to come out. Get
around that, and head right to the broken staircase. Climb up
it jumping across the pits (including the wider one at the
top). Once at the top, jump over to the flagpole which will
complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
PIPE: Third pipe from the start. Go in it, get all the coins
and exit. You'll be at the fourth pipe.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
A few changes here, including the 1-Up Mushroom is now
replaced with a Power Up Block. Also in the same area,
Goombas are added, as well as a new Green Koopa Para-Troopa.
Just a bit past that, a row of blocks near the first Bullet
Bill Cannon is gone. Finally, the staircase at the end has a
wider pit at the top.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 8-3.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 8-3
TIME LIMIT: 300
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 8-3 with some minor changes
Now this level might be as tough as the last one. From the
start, head right to the Bullet Bill Cannon and get on it. Soon
a Green Koopa Para-Troopa will come out, so get around that and
to the next cannon. From there, continue going right and you
will be at a pipe. Get on it and you will see two long rows of
blocks, with a pair of Hammer Brothers. If you're Fire Mario,
stand from a distance and take them out one at a time. If not,
go under the lower row and hit them from below. Unlike before,
there was a Fire Flower here, but not this time. After this,
jump up over the pit to the staircase and over the next pit
then proceed to the Bullet Bill Cannon. Past that is another
Green Koopa Para-Troopa and another cannon. After that,
continue going right to find a thick wall. Again you will be
presented with two rows of blocks and a pair of Hammer
Brothers.
Take them out the same way as before, but this time the second
block from the left of the upper row will have a FIRE FLOWER.
After that, get onto the upper row of blocks and do a long run
jump over the two pits and pipe but watch out for the Green
Koopa Troopa. Just take out the Green Koopa Troopa, because
there are Hammer Brothers ahead of you, but the shell won't
help much. Run jump over the two Hammer Brothers and past them
is a pipe. At the pipe will be two more Hammer Brothers, so do
a long run jump from the pipe to get over one and run under the
other. After that, there will be a Coin Plus Block hidden in
the castle wall. After that, climb up the staircase, including
the wide pit at the top. Once at the top, jump over to the
flagpole which will complete this level.
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Only a couple changes here, the first Power Up Block is
gone, and there is a wider pit at the top of the staircase
of blocks.
And with that, it's time to move onto World 8-4.
------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD 8-4
TIME LIMIT: 400
LEVEL LAYOUT: SMB World 8-4 with some minor changes
This is it, the final battle, just gotta get through this maze.
So if you want, you can refer to my map for this game, which
can be found on the FAQ Section for this game. In this first
section, from the start, jump over the lava pit, and continue
going right, past the first pipe. At the second one is three
Goombas, so take them out and continue onwards onto the upper
area. Here you will see a lava pit with a moving platform in
the lava (you have to look close for this), so get on that.
Once it reaches the rightside, jump up and continue going right
to the pipe and enter it. In this second section, head right
avoiding the Buzzy Beetle and blast the Green Koopa
Para-Troopas. Jump over the lava pit to find two more Green
Koopa Para-Troopas. You will also see a pipe above there, so
from the pipe, step back two steps and jump up to find a hidden
block. Now this time it's a bit higher up than in SMB, so you
must do a run jump up on it. Once on it, jump on the pipe and
enter it.
In this third section, head right and Cheep Cheeps will start
flying out, so be very careful. Jump over the lava pit and the
pipe just past that is the one you enter. In this fourth
section is an underwater area, so swim right, but watch out for
the Fire Chain. Swim towards the top to avoid the second Fire
Chain (watching out for the Blooper) until you reach the third
Fire Chain. Time your move and go through the narrow area, and
you will see another Blooper and some more Fire Chains.
Carefully get past these, and once you got an open, swim up to
the pipe and enter it. In this fifth section, jump over to the
next pipe and take out the Hammer Brother or do a long run jump
over it. After that, do another long run jump over the lava pit
(watch out for the Podobo) and then you will be ready for the
final battle with Bowser!
BOWSER FIGHT #8: (Bowser)
Now this will be a tough fight. Bowser will shoot fireballs
and throw hammers at you. There will also be several rows of
blocks (unlike in SMB) making this fight crazy. From a
distance, shoot at Bowser as Fire Mario, or pray for Bowser
to stop shooting fireballs and when he jumps up and go under
him and jump on the axe.
With the axe stepped on, you will then see Princess Toadstool!
SECRET PIPE/VINE:
There is no secret pipe or vines in this level.
CHANGES MADE TO THIS LEVEL:
Everything has been left intact, except for the hidden block
in the second section, which it's a little bit higher up.
Also the setup for the final fight, there is several blocks
in the upper area, making it a narrow area.
For the final cutscene, Princess Toadstool will then give you
the following speech: "Peace is paved, with kingdom saved.
Hurrah to Mario, our only hero. This ends your trip, of a long
friendship" You will then be awarded 100,000 Points for every
extra life you have left plus your remaining Time Limit will be
tallied giving you a final score. With that the seven Mushroom
Retainers will appear saying "Thank you Mario!", and dance
about. Now, if you're expecting a Second Quest, forget it,
because that was removed from this game. With that, I say
congradulations on beating Vs Super Mario Brothers for the
Arcade Machine.

Mario. Nothing to special about this.
2. FIRE FLOWER: Grab this flower to become Fire Mario. You'll
be able to shoot fireballs at most enemies this way.
3. STARMAN: Grab this star to become Invincible Mario. You'll
be able to run through enemies for a short period of time.
4. COIN: Nothing too special, except if you get 100 of them,
you'll get an extra life.
5. COIN PLUS BLOCK: These look like normal blocks but they
have several Coins in them. Get as many as you can.

life, simple as that. Can only be found in World 1-1.
-------
B: |Enemies|
-------
These are the basic enemies you will come across in the game:
1. GOOMBA: These are evil mushroom characters that roam
around.
2. RED KOOPA TROOPA: These are walking turtles, these
kinds won't fall into pits.
3. GREEN KOOPA TROOPA: These are walking turtles, which
can fall into pits.
4. RED KOOPA PARATROOPA: These are flying turtles that
will only float up and down.
5. GREEN KOOPA PARATROOPA: These are flying turtles that

out, so be careful!
13. PODOBOO: These are big fireballs that shoot up and
down from lava pits, that can not be destroyed.

------
C: |Bowser|
------
Bowser can be found at the end of each world (World 1-4, 2-4,
etc). There is two ways to defeat him: Avoid him and hit the Axe,
or shoot him with fireballs (if you're Fire Mario). If you choose
to hit him with fireballs, you must hit him 5 times, then he will

fall over as a character you come across in the original Super
Mario Brothers. You will also be awarded 5,000 points for
succeeding. Be careful, because each time you come across him, he
will attack you with certain tactics.

D: |The Disclaimer|
--------------
Back in the day, like 20 years ago (damn I'm old), I remember
seeing this game in a couple laundrymats that my mother took me
to. I gave this game a try, but obviously it was quite difficult
due to it being an arcade game. Not only that, this version went
through some rather interesting changes. I didn't get very far at
first, and the furthest I got was World 6-3 (damn long jumps).
After that, the last time I saw this game was in a pizza place,
and after that, only on the internet. Still, this game is consider
a favorite, which is why I decided to make this one of my Personal
FAQs. I made this walkthrough the best way I can and I hope it
helps out in every way possible. Now here comes the important
stuff you need to read.
Ok, I'll make this quick and simple. This walkthrough is my work.
I've made this walkthrough, describing the game the best possible
way I can. You can use whatever info you want, so long as you give
me credit and don't alter anything. All you have to do is email me
at
[email protected] if you're gonna do anything with
this walkthrough. And to show that I'm not a complete selfish
bastard, if you have something you wanna add, email me and I will
give you full credit ^_^. This walkthrough, like many others are
intended for GameFAQs ONLY. You want it on your site, well you
better start emailing me. Failure to comply with this, and I will
be mad, among other things.
