--"Turtles In Time For Arcade"--
Version FINAL
***********************
1-Information:
***********************
TMNT Turtles in Time was a game created by Konami in the early 90's
(1991 to be exact). It's just like every other Konami arcade game from
around that time. Side scroller beat up the bad guys type of game. I
saw no one else did a f.a.q. for this game so I decided I might as well.
***********************
2-Story
0***********************
The story is that the turtles are sent back in time by shredder and have
to fight their way back to the present to get back the Statue of Liberty
which was stolen by Super Krang.

3-Version Info:

1.0 Written July 24th
This is my 2nd attempt at a F.A.Q. and today i'm just doing the basics.
1.1 Written July 25th
I've added alot more, it's already almost finished.
1.2 Written July 26th
Fixed a few things I have added all the differences between the home version
and the arcade version I plan on adding one more thing to this F.A.Q. and
then i'm done!
2.0 Written July 28th
This is it, the final update. It didn't take long at all to create this F.A.Q. I wrote
everything I wanted to put in, I think this guide is in depth enough that you
could not ask for more. Well kudos to my friend Ryan for introducing me to
the turtle arcade games in the first place, I probably wouldn't have written
this otherwise.

4-Moves
**********************
There's two buttons and a joystick for controlling the game:
Button 1 is attack
Button 2 is jump
Joystick is for movement
-Attack+Jump=Special-
When pressed at the same (exact) time you use your turtles
special move:
Leonardo: Sword Spin
Raphael: A Big Kick
Donatello: Stands on his bow and does a kick
Michaelangelo: Jumps forwards with both his nunchucks
-Run+Attack=Shoulder Block-
Run (hold the joystick right for a few seconds) + Attack Button will get you
a shoulder block.
-Run+Attack and Jump=A Stronger Running Attack-
Hold the joystick right (or left) and hit both Attack and Jump, your character
will then do a running kick forward, or sometimes a slide.
-Attack (X2)+Joystick=Throw-
To do a throw you must hit twice (attack button) then use the joystick.
-Attack+Joystick=Throw at screen-
I don't know exactly how to do this move it more so happens randomly, I
either get this move or the normal throw.

6-The Levels
***********************
---------------------
Stage 1-The Big Apple, 3 A.M.
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldier, Blue Foot Soldier (w/metal hooks), White
Foot Soldiers (w/nunchucks), Red Foot Soldiers (w/ninja stars).
This level is pretty straight forward. The basic purple footsoldiers litter
this level, along with I believe some yellow disc throwers. About 2/3 of
the way through the level a very large Super Krang will begin shooting beams
at you from the top. When you reach the end the boss battle will commence.
Boss: Baxter The Fly
"Terminate the Turtles!"
Boss Strategy: My suggestion is to hit him in the air once then back away
because he'll fire his machine gun. When he's on the ground pummel away at
him. When he loses his machine gun he gets a sticky hand gun. When he's in
the air wait for the moment right before he fires his gun then move and
when he misses attack him. Follow this pattern for a pretty easy win.
---------------------
Stage 2-Alley Cat Blues
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Yellow Foot Soldiers (w/kunai), Blue
Foot Soldiers (w/swords),
This level is in a long alley of New York (Manhattan I think). Basically
work your way through the foot soldiers as usual. Watch out for the blue
ones with the swords though, they could be trouble if you let them gang
up on you. Eventually you'll reach the end of the alley where a boss
fight will incur.
Boss: Metal Head
"I'm. going. to. mangle. you. green. slime. balls."
Boss Strategy: MetalHead can get a bit tricky because he won't allow many
attacks before he double fists you away. He also will kick at you to get
you away if you hit him more than twice in a row. You should hit him twice
back away for a second then come back to hit him some more.
---------------------
Stage 3-Sewer Surfin'
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Red Foot Soldiers (w/blocking ability),
Blue Foot Soldier (w/sword), Pizza Monsters.
Your riding a strange surfboard the entire level, with much to dodge.
You have to watch out for foot soliders, pizza monsters, water spikes and
gates that have spikes on them. I suggest you watch for the foreign
objects more than enemies themselves. Once you get to the end you stop
moving and about a dozen Pizza Monsters come out of the water and attack
you! After that's over Shredder appears on the wall and transports them
back in time. (How? I really don't know)
Boss: A Dozen Pizza Monsters
Boss Strategy: No real strategy here you just need to make sure to be ready
you'll know where the Pizza Monsters are by a little bubble in the water.
You should be done in no time.
---------------------
Stage 4-Prehistoric Turtlesauras 25,000,000 B.C.
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Blue Foot Soldiers (w/axe), Green Foot
Soldier (w/bow and arrows), Yellow Foot Soldiers (w/bombs), Stone Warriors,
Stone Warriors (w/hammer), Foot Soldiers on Dinosaurs.
This is the first "in time" level of the game really. Your in the
prehistoric ages of time, this level features the stone warrior
(general Krag from Dimension X) for the first time in the game. It
also features foot soldiers riding on dinosaurs. You start outside on
then work your way through a cave and end up outside again at the top
of a cliff, where Cement man will attack
Boss: Cement Man
"Cement Man Rules!"
Boss Strategy: Cement Man has two attacks, one he'll throw a handful of
cement at you or two he'll hit you with an open palm. You should hit him
a few times then back off because he might throw a cement ball at you.
Eventually he wll go down.
---------------------
Stage 5-Skull and Crossbones 1530 A.D
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Green Foot Soldiers (w/bow and arrow),
Yellow Foot Soldier (w/bombs), Stone Warriors, Stone Warriors (w/machine
gun)
You're on the deck of a old pirate ship. On this ship are many fire
arrow shooting foot soldiers and a whole lot of Stone Warriors with
various weapons. Also you should watch out for little nitches in the
ground which will make a board come up and hit your turtles in the head.
When you reach the very end of the boat it begins to rain and lightning
begins to strike around. Then Toka and Razar attack.
Boss: Toka and Razar.
Boss Strategy: If you're by yourself this will be pretty tough. Thy
both have slashes with their claws you have to avoid. They both have
charging moves, sometimes they will go to opposite sides and try to
smash you with a double charge if you jump they'll hit each other and
take damage. Just keep pounding away on both in a corner and hope they
don't break free to attack at the same time.
---------------------
Stage 6-Bury My Shell At Wounded Knee 1885 A.D.
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Blue Foot Soldiers (w/sword), Blue
Foot Soldiers (w/metal rods),Orange Foot Soldiers (w/grappling hooks),
Stone Warriors (w/machine guns), Stone Warriors (w/contruction rod)
This level is pretty hard if you let your guard down. Avoid getting
mugged by 5-6 foot soldiers/stone warriors because you will lose lives
that way. Work on Stone Warriors first since they have more life then
finish off the foot soldiers. There's alot of explosives on this level
so use them to your advantage.
Boss: Leatherhead
"Oh goody fresh turtles for lunch!"
Boss Strategy: This guy can be pretty tough, he uses knives, kicks and
can crawl across the screen to take you out. You can get a few hits off
him at a time then you should back away. Also at all costs avoid his
ground crawl attack by jumping or whatever because it takes more than his
other attacks, and he'll do it several times in a row! Just keep working
on him and he'll go down eventually.
---------------------
Stage 7-Neon Night Riders 2020 A.D.
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Yellow Foot Soldiers (disc throwers),
Rock 'em sockem robots, Flying Foot Soldiers, Blue Foot Soldiers (w/sword).
This level is completely on a hoverboard, you fight a whole lot of foot
soldiers (as usual) and a few flying ones as well. There's alot of pizzas
on the way so be sure not to miss them.
Boss: Super Krang
"Face the wrath of super Krang!"
Boss Strategy: Talk about tough battles! This one took me quite a few
lives to win. Krang uses a very annoying jet kick every 1 or 2 hits,
and after that he could either fire rockets at you or back away. I
suggest just keeping on him there's nothing you can really do to avoid
his rockets he fires. But you should use a hit and run tactic.
"You're going to pay!"(After you defeat Krang's cyborg body)
---------------------
Stage 8-Star Base -Where No Turtle Has Gone Before 2100 A.D.-
Enemies: Purple Foot Soldiers, Red-Orange Foot Soldiers (Kunai thrower),
Orange Foot Soldiers (w/grappling hook), Blue Foot Soldiers (w/sword),
Security Robot, Orange Foot Soldiers (disc throwers), Blue Foot Soldiers
(w/axe), Stone Warrior (w/laser gun), Stone Warrior (w/flamethrower)
This level is pretty hard and the longest in the game. It has a lot of
obstacles and annoying enemies as well. Watch out for the ice floor panels,
and the electric beam shooters on the top wall at the end section.
Boss: Krange In Space Ship
"You shell heads are dead!"
Boss Strategy: This isn't so bad watch out for the bubbles he shoots which
can trap you. Also his other attack is dropping the security robots which
can get pretty annoying. If he's low to the ground don't bother jumping
just do regular attacks and they'll hit him. Otherwise jump and hit.
---------------------
Stage 9-Techno Drome -The Final Shell Shock-
Enemies: None (except Shredder)
There is no level to this you immediatley fight Shredder
Boss: Shredder
"My favorite, Turtle soup!"
Boss Strategy: This battle isn't as hard as the last boss battle. He does
have very powerful attacks though. If he begins to rise up and charge his
hand that means he's going to shoot a bunch of arrows at you which will kill
you instantly! So attack him quickly before he can do it. Also he has a
glowing hand shot he does while stand which will take half your life. Avoid
those two moves and keep attacking up front you should get quite a few hits
in before he hits you with his beam saber. Eventually he will fall off the
top of the technodrome.

7-Differences Between Home/Arcade Versions
***********************
Well there are many differences between the SNES version of "Turtles In Time"
and the Arcade version of the game. I didn't even realize how many differences
there were until I replayed the Arcade game after 4 years of not playing it.
Well let's get started-
1.Many of the bosses are either completely different or not in a version at
all such as:
-In the arcade there is no Slash, Super Shredder, Shredder in Machine, Rat
King, Beebop or Rocksteady.
-Infact stage 3 isn't a bonus stage at all in the Arcade version but you don't
really fight a boss there. In the SNES version it IS a bonus stage and you
DO fight a boss. (weird eh?)
-Also stage 7 is a bonus stage in the SNES version, w/less enemies. You fight
Super Krang in both games though.
-On the SNES version there's no Cement man (no loss there Slash is much
cooler).
2.Some bosses are MUCH harder on the arcade version and vice versa some
include:
-Metal Head on SNES is much easier than Arcade, where he has no patern except
to punch you away every 2 seconds.
-Leatherhead on level 6 is almost impossible to beat without 2 people. He not
only hits you about every solid hit you get on him, he also likes to throw his
knives at you constantly while not dashing across the screen bowling you over.
-Krang has different attacks on the 2 games but he's about the same difficulty
in both games.
3.There are a few stage changes:
-Level 7 is side scrolling on the Arcade version on the SNES version it's a 3-D
style level.
-In the Arcade version there is no Technodrome level at all
-In the technodrome you fight Toka and Razar mid level then at the end you
fight Shredder in a machine which you have to throw foot soldiers at to hurt.
-On "Skull and Crossbones" you fight Beebop and Rocksteady in pirate outfits
instead of Toka and Razar in the SNES version.
4.Misc:
-The bosses on the SNES version flash when their getting weak and they also
have life bars, the Arcade version gives no indication of how weak the enemy is.
-The boss song is a little different, I think it sounds much cooler on the arcade
version of the game.
-Even though you can throw the foot soldiers at the screen there's really no
use for it in the arcade version.
