Tattoo Assassins and Tattoo Assassins Characters (c) Data East Pinball

-----------
0.2 Updates
-----------

Version 0.2 (Apr. 19, 2003)
I (TheStu) slacked a bit on this update. I could've had it done on the 15th
but I got kinda lazy and left it till now. Jigsaw suggested we have
descriptions for the rest of the fatalities so that's been included. As well
the Hot Dog transform and the Flaming Fart fatalities were added (titled "I
wish I was a..." and "Flamed!" respectively). We are always open to
contributions, so feel free to send either myself or Jigsaw and email. Contact
info is at the end of this FAQ (section 3.3)

Version 0.1 (Apr. 14, 2003)
The first version, everything you see before you now is the update. Silly.
This FAQ is very incomplete, but for now we've been concentrating on the
fatalities. Information on game mechanics, as well as character biographies,
special moves, descriptions of the unique fatalities and whatnot will
come in a future update. If you have anything to contribute to this FAQ,
please do so using the contact info (section 3.3) at the end of this FAQ.

-------------
0.3 The Intro
-------------

Tattoo Assassins was a game that tried (tried being the key word) to cash in
on the digitized gore-fest fighting game craze back in the mid-90s. It was
written by the Bob Gale, who wrote "Back To The Future", characters and all.
The story revolves around this magical ink, and out of all the "Color
Guard", a guy named Koldan was the only one suitable to wear this ink. He
went mad with power, and now the keeper of the ink (a little chubby guy)
found 9 other suitable people to wear this ink, and therefore dubbed them the
*drum roll* Tattoo Assassins.

For more information on this game, go take a peek at:
http://www.bunnyears.net/tattoo/
This site is where I learned mostly all I know about the game's history,
plus I also learned of some of the fatalities here due to the numerous
screenshots and other media.

0.5 Who are Jigsaw and TheStu?
------------------------------

Jigsaw and TheStu digitally met through the community for a Unreal
Tournament 2003 Modification called The Opera (currently in development). One
night in the community's IRC channel, Jigsaw brought up a link to the MAME
Work In Progress page, with specific interest in Tattoo Assassins. TheStu
looked on in amazement, and promptly said "This game looks like it sucks, but
it looks so crappy I might just have to play it".

Then came the day mame.dk emailed TheStu regarding the release of MAME .67.
He quickly consulted the "Changed Roms" list over on mame.dk and there it
was, "Tattoo Assassins". After 2 days of trying, TheStu finally got in
contact with Jigsaw (6 hour time difference between Canada and Sweden ya
know). Jigsaw was as excited as a 4-year-old opening his train set on
Christmas morning. The pair quickly got a private chat going on IRC, and over
many days (3) of these private chats, a list of fatalities started to take
shape into what you see before you right now.

This FAQ was created due to the sole fact that Jigsaw and TheStu are fans of
obscure video games, and attempt to give them the appreciation they deserve.
Like, what game where you get to excrete full turkey dinners at your
opponent DOESN'T deserve some sort of heraldry?

-----------------------
1. Universal Fatalities
-----------------------

These fatalities can be performed regardless of which character you play as.
Some, such as 'Eat Ship And Die!!' can't actually be performed by anyone, but
they replace other, universal, fatalities, so that's why they're listed here.

Decapitation Uppercut: D+HP
A normal uppercut, knocking the opponents head off.

Spontanous Decapitation: BL 27 times
Pressing block repeatedly will make the opponent beg for mercy, pressing it
27 times will make them sponaneoulsy decapitate themselves.

Exploding Roundhouse: B+HK
A normal roundhouse kick, making the opponent explode.

Mona Lisa: LK, LP, BL
Transforms the opponent into the Mona Lisa, except with the face of your
opponent.

Farmer and Wife: LP, LK, BL
Transforms the opponent into the famous "Farmer and his Wife" picture,
but your opponent's head is skewered on the farmer's pitchfork.

Whistler's Mother: HP, LP, BL
Your opponent is transformed into "Whistler's Mother" (more
famous artwork) with your opponents facial features yet again.

IT'S BURGERTIME!: LP, HP, BL
Your opponent gets crushed by a hamburger a la the game Burger Time
(complete with points :D).

Hit And Stay: LK, HK, BL
A DeLorean comes on screen and runs your opponent down.

1700's Dude: HP, HK, BL
Your opponent gets turned into an very antique looking person.

IT'S HAMMER TIME!!: BL, BL, HP
A giant anvil falls from the sky, crushing your opponent.

STRIKE!!: BL, BL, LP
Same as above, except with a bowling ball rather than an anvil.

Gotcha, Ya Little Booger!!: BL, BL, HK
An rather large insect flies in the direction of your opponent, after that
a large flyswatter crushes the insect, and your opponent as well.

Judgment Day!!: BL, BL, LK
A large gavel brings "order" down on your opponent.

Eat Ship and Die!!: BL, BL, LK
A cruise ship falls from the sky and crushes your opponent. (Karla, Maya and
Hannah only - Replaces Judgment Day!!)

Oops, Stepped In It!: BL, BL, LK
A large, lizardlike foot (It may be Godzilla, but due to international
copyright laws, it's not.) crushes your opponent. (Tak only - Replaces
Judgment Day!!)

Nudeality: BL, BL, SP
In a puff of smoke your opponent loses his or her clothes and starts to
shiver (Hands cover all questionable areas, you pervs.)

WILDE THANG!: LP, HK, BL
Turns your opponent into the fairy of love or something like that.

HOT STUFF!: HP, LP, BL
Simply a demonic palette swap of the above.

Animality: HP, HP HP, BL
The reverse of the MK animalities, this transforms your opponent into an
animal (save for the 2 odd cases). Specific transformations are listed in
each character's section.

Morphality: LP, LP, LP, BL
Turns your opponent into something, usually changing their appearance or
clothes. Once again, specific transformations are listen the characters'
sections.

Smoking Kills!: HP, LP, LK, HK
A cigar is placed into your opponents mouth, and it explodes, cartoonishly
turning your opponents face into a soot-covered mess.

Happy Thanksgiving!: HK, LK, LP, HP
This is likely the weirdest one of the bunch. Your character makes an about
face, and excretes a whole turkey on a plate. As soon as it hits your enemy
it divides into many more turkeys, (Most likely because of some bug) which
bounce around the screen, hitting you and your opponent around a while.

No Artificial Additives: HP, HK, LK, LP
A meat grinder falls on your opponent and grinds them into a fine mush.

Lipstick: HK, HP, LP, LK
A tube of lipstick with appendages runs towards your opponent, jumps on
their face, and smears itself all over their lips, giving the lips a nice
red shine. Then the tube of lipstick jumps off their face, and proceeds to
hump the leg of your opponent. Or maybe it does a little dance. We're not
sure.

Oh I Wish I Was A...: D, D, D, LK (F, F, F, LK for Tak)
Your Opponent is turned into a hot dog, complete with arms and legs. He/she
then runs off screen. (Maya does not have this fatality)

Flamed!: B, B, B, B, HK for Tak, Hannah, Truck and Derek. B, B, B, B, LK for
Billy, Luke, Karla and AC.
Your character's anus becomes a improvised flamethrower and burns your enemy
to a crisp. (Haven't found a command for Maya to use this yet)

==============================================================================

from, email TheStu)

Transformations:
Animality: Robot
Morphality: Young A.C.

-------------
2.3 Luke Cord
-------------

Tattoo:
Eagle Morphality: F+SP
Turns your opponent into an eagle, exactly like the one in the background of
the stage with "Bob's Tattoo Parlor" in it.

Octopus: B+SP or SP, SP, SP
A giant octopus comes out of Luke's chest and constricts your opponent
with its tentacles.

Transformations:
Animality: Seal
Morphality: Mexican Guy (The sprite for this transformation isn't really clear
enough to make out what it really is, but we're 75% sure we're right)

-----------------
2.4 Derek O'Toole
-----------------

Tattoo:
Puking Skull, F+SP or SP, SP, SP
The smoking skull flies out of Derek's chest and let's out last night's

off.

Animality: Pig
Morphality: Truck with Clown Face

-------
2.6 Tak Hata
-------

Tattoo:
Two Headed Dragon: SP, SP, SP
Tak's tattoo springs to life and mauls your opponent and rips him/her apart.

Two Headed Barney: B+SP
An egg comes out of Tak's tattoo, hatches into a cross between Puff The Magic
Dragon and everyone's favourite purple dinosaur. I wonder what Data East was
puffing on when they thought this fatality (scratch that, this GAME) up.

Other Fatalities:
Nudeality (kinda botched): F+SP

Transformations:
Animality: Giant Turtle
Morphality: Geisha

---------------
2.7 Hannah Hart
---------------

Tattoo:
Spider Face Chew: F+SP or SP, SP, SP
Hannah does a handstand, and a spider leaps out of her tattoo and gives your
opponent an unwanted makeover.

Big Spider Mauling: B+SP
Hannah does a handstand, and unleashes a much larger spider, which completely
annihilates your opponent.

Explode Cartwheel: B, B, F
Hannah does a cartwheel into your opponent, every limb of hers taking off one
of your opponents in a sense.

Hannah's poison venom has a more potent effect, rather than blinding the eyes
it melts them, along with the rest of your opponent.

Acid Poo Eagle: F+SP or SP, SP, SP
A fiery eagle flies out of Billy's chest and relieves itself on your helpless
opponent.

The same flaming avian carries your opponent into the sky, and drops his
skinless

Transformations:
Animality: Cactus
Morphality: Knight armor

----------------
2.9 Karla Keller
----------------

Tattoo:
Lethal Thorns: F+SP
Many sharp thorns sprout from the ground and impale your opponent (when you do
this to another Karla it looks like she's in a position to be raped, real
nasty type thing)

Man Eating Rose: B+SP or SP, SP, SP
A vine grows out of Karla's torso and flowers into a rose. This rose then
chomps your opponent's head off.

Other Fatalities:
Zamboni: HK, LK, BL (animation is a bit botched, doesn't come all the way on
screen)
A Karla-style zamboni is SUPPOSED to come on screen and run you opponent over.
(like the DeLorean fatality) Usually only half of it ever appears on screen.

Special Moves:
Gut Slice: B, F, HP
Karla uses her "Deadly Icicle" to rip your opponent's torso open.

Sliding Gut Slice: B, B, D (before 'No Mercy!')
Same as above.
