Unbelievable......I've been playing this game since December 1998 and I'm
STILL finding new ways to increase my score!  Since my last update, I'm
able reach an average of 2.85 million.  Once I even got 2.97xxx, but as
I've been unable to match it, I'll put that down to divine intervention :).
Anyway, enough rambling.....here's the new info:

* Finally know why the SECRET bonus varies on HOTH: Escape From Echo Base;

* Recently informed about an alarm device behind the third Wampa on HOTH:
 Escape From Echo Base;

* Some new information concerning that wretched SECRET bonus on YAVIN:
 Deathstar Trench.


VER 3.2 - UPDATED ON 3 JUNE 2001

Nearly 9 months have past since I touched this FAQ.  Played this game a
while back and discovered something new on ENDOR SPACE: Above Deathstar II.
Not very important, but worth mentioning.  Also took time out to update
some high scores sent into me.

Almost forgot this FAQ existed, thanks to all those who've contributed.
Sorry for the lack of any updates as there isn't really much more to
add and I don't play this game that often now.  However two plays for
old time's sake last Saturday earned me 2,66x,xxx and 2,74x,xxx
respectively.

* New scoring information added to HOTH: Defend Rebel Base
 and ENDOR: Destroy Scout Troopers levels.

* New info added to HOTH: Escape From Echo Base and ENDOR:

Surfing the web before Christmas and found no guide whatsoever for
this game.  Very suprised considering the popularity of Star Wars.
So I've decided to write one.

2.0 INTRODUCTION
=================

This FAQ provides tactics for dealing with major trouble spots along
with hints for obtaining high scores.  It'll also list the Lightsaber
directions for the Bonus Stages.  It DOES NOT provide details of EVERY
single attack.  If you're stuck on a particular point that isn't
mentioned, please e-mail ([email protected]) and I'll try to provide
a solution.

3.0 RAPID FIRE TIPS
===================

Grip the joystick loosely, but securely.  Holding it too tight makes
aiming difficult.  Now position your thumb and index finger near the
base of each button and vibrate them rapidly.  Concentrate on speed,
not pressure.  If you use two hands, place your other hand near the
base of the stick.  Make sure it doesn't obstruct your firing hand.

4.0 LEVEL CLASSIFICATION
========================

For quick and easy reference, I've decided to classify similar
levels.

X-Wing stages
-------------
Refers to the YAVIN and ENDOR SPACE stages.  They both contain
Successive Hit and Critical Hit bonus'.

Blaster levels
--------------
Refers to HOTH: Escape From Echo Base, HOTH: Hanger Bay and ENDOR:
Set Charges.  They all contain Successive Hit and Quickdraw bonus'.

Special levels
--------------
Refers to HOTH: Defend Rebel Base, ENDOR: Defeat Scout Troopers and
ENDOR: Destroy Scout Walker.  These levels contain their own unique
bonus' (please see the LEVEL OVERVIEW section).

5.0 MAIN BONUS OVERVIEW
=======================

This section explains each one of the main bonus' that appear on the
score tally once you've finished a level.  For the unique bonus' on
Special levels eg Delta Attack, Assistance etc, please refer to the
LEVEL OVERVIEW section.

5.1 Destruction (All levels)
    ========================
    The size of this bonus depends on how many targets you took out
    on that particular level.  Destroy everything and you'll receive
    a 100% Destruction bonus, which always awards 40000 points.

    Here are the targets on each level that count towards this
    bonus:

     X-Wing stages - Anything with a blue or yellow target;
     Blaster levels - All enemy targets;
     HOTH: Defend Rebel Base - All AT-ST's;
     ENDOR: Defeat Scout Troopers - Scout Troopers;
     ENDOR: Destroy Scout Walker.

    Other targets on the Special levels have their own point
    categories (see LEVEL OVERVIEW section) and don't count
    towards this bonus.  Nor do the unmarked Laser Guns on the
    X-Wing levels.  They don't count towards any bonus because
    their only purpose is to increase your on-screen score.  So now
    you know!!

5.2 Shield Intact Time (All levels)
    ===============================
    The length of time you last on a level without being hit.  Once
    you're hit, the point counter stops and further hits will not
    affect the bonus. If you receive no damage at all, you receive
    a 100% bonus which varies from stage to stage (see LEVEL
    OVERVIEW for maximum scores).

5.3 Secret (All levels)
   ===================
   You will need to perform certain tasks to gain points towards
   this bonus'.  The tasks are very simple and are mentioned in the
   the LEVEL OVERVIEW section.

   When you complete the game, your rank is determined by the
   number of these tasks you successfully completed.  The more
   tasks you complete, the higher your ranking will be (See RANKING
   section).

   All stages have a 'SECRET' tally, but some award no points.  See
   LEVEL OVERVIEW for more information.

5.4 Successive Hit (X-Wing stages & Blaster levels)
   ===============================================
   This bonus is gained through a 'Score Accumulator'.  To
   activate the accumulator, land at least two successive hits
   (combos).  From 'x1' onwards, each direct hit increases your
   Successive Hit bonus.  Score an 11 hit combo and you'll be
   awarded an 'EX'.  After 'EX' the accumulator restarts at 'x1'.
   Miss a target and the accumulator ends.

   On X-Wing levels the accumulator only activates when you fire at
   enemy craft.  It will end when you fire at other targets and also
   when there's a gap of about 0.8 seconds between shots.  This
   means as well as being on target, you must be firing in rapid
   succession.  If you gain an 'EX' on these levels, a voice says
   "Good Shot". (courtesy of 'Anonymous Platapus').

   Your Successive Hit bonus depends on the size and number of
   combos performed, plus how many 'EX's you gained.  Each 'EX'
   awards 2000 points (courtesy of Sega R&D#5).

5.5 Critical Hit (X-Wing stages)
   ============================
   Each time you destroy a Tie-fighter in one shot by shooting its
   body, you will gain about 200 points towards this bonus.

5.6 Quick Fire (Blaster levels)
   ===========================
   Points for this bonus depend on how fast you killed each
   Stormtrooper and Royal commander.  If you kill your opponent the
   moment they appear, you'll receive more points as opposed to
   taking your time.

6.0 GENERAL SCORING TIPS
========================

6.1 All levels
==============

* Use the accumulator whenever you can.  You can gain very high scores
  via the Successive Hit bonus.  Fighting the Wampas, Vader's Tie, Tie
  Bombers and the Cargo ship are the best time to use it.

* ALWAYS use the EVENT button.  You may think you're wonderful for
  defeating opponents without assistance, but you miss out on valuable
  points!!

* If you die or fail a mission, the scores on the bonus tally at the end
  of the level will be severely reduced.

6.2 X-Wing stages
=================

* Shoot off a Tie-Fighter's wing to make it roll.  Keep firing until
  it explodes (don't miss).  This'll increase your score via the
  accumulator.  Take care when the screen is full of Tie-Fighters!!

* Eliminate whole Tie-Fighter formations to receive a progressive bonus.
  It starts at 500 points, then increases to 1000, 1500 and 2000 points
  for those destroyed after.  For 2000 points, a voice cries "Whoa
  That's It"!.  After 2000 points, the bonus restarts at 500 points.

* Go for the Critical Hit bonus when you need to destroy Ties quickly
  before they fly off

* When going for the 100% Destruction bonus' on X-Wing levels,
  make sure Tie-Fighters explode BEFORE they disappear off screen.

6.3 Blaster levels
==================

 * One hit kills a Stormtrooper or Royal Commander.

 * Try to kill your opponents quickly for a large Quickdraw bonus.

7.0 SHIELD
==========

7.1 Description
    ===========

    You start with a maximum 100 Shield points.  Each time you
    successfully complete a whole stage (not bonus stages) you'll be
    awarded 20 Shield points.  If you fail a mission, you'll receive
    no Shield points.  In addition your Shield has a Force Level
    (explained below) located in the top-right of the screen.

7.2  Force Levels
    ============

    Here are the Force Levels in descending order.

    Light Lv3 - Full Shield (Minimum Damage)
    Light Lv2
    Light Lv1
    Dark Lv1
    Dark Lv2 - No Shield (Maximum Damage)

    Your Force Level will drop if you shoot your own side.  It also
    drops when you shoot Stormtroopers falling off their Speedbikes on
    ENDOR: Defeat Scout Troopers.

    Raise your Force Level by 1 rank instantly by assisting fellow
    rebels.  Your Shield Level also rises gradually when you take out
    your opponents quickly and use the Score Accumulator.

8.0 REBEL INSIGNIA
==================

The Rebel Insignia is the red & blue symbol which appears in the
bottom left-hand corner at certain points in the game.  When it
spins rapidly, it means you can use the EVENT button to activate a
special feature.  So basically it's another way of telling you that
the EVENT button will light up.

All the special features of the EVENT button are listed in the FAQ.

9.0 DIFFICULTY SETTINGS
=======================

I've noticed a difference in the laser's overheat rate on Blaster
levels and ENDOR: Destroy Scout Walker.  On the Hard settings it might
take 10/11 shots to overheat, Medium; 15/20 shots and Easy; 20/25 shots
or no overheating at all.  Overheating only applies when facing the
Wampas on HOTH and destroying the Scout Walker on ENDOR.  However lower
settings mean better Quickdraw bonus' on these stages.

The other difference is regarding Shield Levels.  On the Hard
Settings you may start a stage at Light Lv3, on Normal; Light Lv2 and
on Hard; Light Lv1.

The machine I play on is set between MEDIUM-HARD.

10.0 LEVEL OVERVIEW
===================

    *****
10.1 YAVIN
    *****

10.1.1 Above Deathstar
      ===============

* To gain the 100% Destruction bonus you must destroy the Shield
 Generator and all four Laser Ports on the first Imperial Destroyer.
 The moment it comes into full view, fire 7/8 shots at the generator.
 Then IMMEDIATELY shoot the bombs and the Laser Ports (from left to
 right).  This is one of the hardest bonus' to get because you've very
 little time to destroy all the Laser Ports.

* When you begin to fly over the Deathstar, position the cursor at the
 bottom-right of the screen and fire rapidly.  The oncoming Tie squadron
 will be annihilated.

* At the end of this level, you'll face an oncoming barrage of
 Tie-Fighters.  Press the EVENT button when the 5/6th fighter appears.
 This allows your fellow X-Wings to shoot the maximum number of
 targets.  You should gain around 30-35,000 bonus points.

Secrets
-------
Shoot the Tie-Fighter chasing your fellow X-Wing.  Also destroy all the
Tie's at the end of the level (won't affect Secret bonus).

Maximum Scores
--------------
Shield Intact Time: 38000
Secret: 2000


10.1.2 Deathstar Surface
      =================

* When you can, shoot the unmarked Laser Guns to increase your score.
 For each gun destroyed you get 1000 points.

* Make sure you destroy the Tie-Fighter chasing your fellow wingman.
 If you don't, you might not be able to use the EVENT button for
 assistance against Vader & Co.

* Around the middle of this section, you'll face a Laser Tower and
 two Tie-Fighters at the same time.  When approaching, aim just
 below the middle-right of the screen and fire to destroy the Laser
 Tower as it appears.  Then QUICKLY shoot down the Tie-Fighters,
 taking out the right one first.

* To grab the 100% Destruction bonus, don't forget to shoot the last
 marked Laser Tower at the far-right of the screen.

* Use the EVENT button against Vader and his companions when they
 BEGIN to fly TOWARDS you.  They'll be fully exposed to maximum
 firepower from you and the other X-Wings.  Use the same technique
 against Vader when he's alone.  To avoid damage, destroy the
 Tie-Fighters quickly, then put the cursor on Vader and shoot him
 as fast as possible until he's crushed.  Try to defeat him by the
 THIRD attack wave.  You'll need rapid fire and good aim at ALL
 times.  This section can help you get a Successive Hit bonus of
 over 140000 points!!!

Secrets
-------
Shoot the Tie-Fighter chasing your fellow X-Wing.  Also defeating
Vader will get the Secret Bonus, but won't affect your ranking.

Maximum Scores
--------------
Shield Intact Time: 28400
Secret: 14000


10.1.3 Deathstar Trench
      ================

* Gaining the 100% Destruction bonus is easy, just destroy ALL the
 Tie-Fighters.

* To shoot down the cluster of Tie-Fighters effectively, move the
 cursor around that area and fire rapidly.  The moment you destroy
 the cluster, IMMEDIATELY move the cursor to the far-right. Now take
 out the diagonal formation of Tie-Fighters from bottom to top.

* Use the proton torpedoes to destroy the Ties on either side of
 Vader's craft.  You must be quick.

* Make sure you fire the torpedoes into the exhaust port, otherwise
 you'll fail the mission.

Secrets
-------
I'm still not 100% sure about this, but I think that for each direct hit on
Vader's Tie with the torpedoes, you'll receive 2000 pts.  By firing solely
at Vader, I once managed to gain a 6000 pts Secret bonus.  A direct hit is
when he quickly flashes red on (the torpedoes') impact.  I usually gain
2000/4000 pts and most of the time, the two Ties on either side remain
untouched (until the other X-Wings shoot them down).

Try it out, I could be wrong (if I am, please let me know!!).

10.2   HOTH
      ****

10.2.1 Defend Rebel Base
      =================

* As you begin this level, IMMEDIATELY shoot the AT-ST on the far-
 left of the screen to destroy or weaken it.  If it was only weakened,
 at least it'll be quicker to destroy when you face it again at close
 range.

* Shoot down all the probes.  This stops the AT-STs aiming directly
 at you.

* Try to destroy the AT-STs by shooting their legs instead of the head.
 You'll earn double points.  However, don't use this tactic on AT-STs
 which need to be destroyed quickly, ie the one between the first and
 second Delta Attacks.

* Try to destroy ALL the AT-ST's in your path, even ones further off.
 If certain AT-ST's aren't destroyed first time, they re-appear
 later on, making life VERY difficult !!

* To perform the Delta Attack, tap the EVENT button a few times the
 moment you hear "Attack Pattern Delta...Go Now".  You'll see a red
 marker appear round the approaching AT-AT's neck.  Shoot VERY QUICKLY
 to destroy it, then IMMEDIATELY concentrate on eliminating
 surrounding AT-ST's (the closest first).   There are three Delta
 Attacks in total, each giving a 10000 point bonus.

* To gain the 100% Destruction bonus, you must destroy the AT-ST that
 appears between the first and second Delta Attacks.  After you've
 finished the first Delta Attack, the camera swerves dramatically.
 Position the cursor around the middle-right of the screen.  The moment
 you see the AT-ST, shoot like crazy, taking care to follow it with the
 cursor as the camera moves!!  You have about 2 seconds to destroy it.
 Good luck!!

* Before assisting your fellow Snowspeeder to destroy the AT-AT with
 the tow rope, eliminate the AT-ST QUICKLY before the red marker
 appears around the AT-AT's neck.  If you succeed, you'll get 10000
 points towards your Assistance bonus.

* To assist the next Snowspeeder, it's best to start shooting the AT-
 AT's neck BEFORE the marker appears.  If the Snowspeeder survived
 you'll get another 10000 points towards your Assistance bonus.

* You can shoot the Stormtroopers as they chase after the Rebels.
 You don't get any points, but it's fun.  Shoot at their legs to kill
 them quickly.

* DON'T shoot Rebels or the Base.  If you do, your Shield Level drops.

* When you've destroyed the probe and the AT-ST by the base, shoot
 the distant AT-ST in the background to destroy or weaken it. If
 you didn't destroy it, it'll be easier to eliminate when you
 face it again at close range (near the end).

Secrets
-------
Destroy all the probes.  Also assist both your fellow Snowspeeders
in bringing down both AT-AT's.  The latter (I think) does affect your
ranking, but not the Secret bonus because it has it's own point
category.

Maximum Scores

Shield Intact Time: 108000
Delta Attack: 30000
Assistance: 20000
Secret: 10000


10.2.2 Escape from Echo Base
      =====================

* Destroy Stormtroopers with machine guns first.

* To gain the 100% Destruction bonus, you must shoot all three Wampas
 and EVERY Stormtrooper.  The most difficult to hit are the ones that
 dash across the screen.  Memorise their positions and movements and
 aim your cursor accordingly.  Don't expect to do it first time.

* After you've killed off the Stormtroopers in the first corridor, the
 camera turns and one quickly dashes to the right for cover.  One will
 also dash across to the left when you turn the corner.  You MUST kill
 both of them to gain the 100% Destruction bonus.  Fire quickly and
 carefully to catch them.

* The worst Stormtrooper attack is the last wave situated in the
 second corridor.  To kill them all without being hit, commence attack
 the moment the camera turns!!  Take them out in the following
 order:

 1. The machine gunner
 2. The one on the right
 3. The one behind the front crate
 4. The one at the far end, running on-screen

 You have about 2 seconds.  Good luck!!

* As you go into the Wampa lair, keep the cursor around the middle of
 the screen so you can shoot the Stormtrooper that appears at the
 right just before you enter.  He's quite hard to get.

* The moment you enter the Wamp room, quickly shoot down the first Wampa.
 This'll give you enough time to eliminate the second Wampa before the
 camera shifts to the last Wampa.  If the second Wampa is still standing,
 finish it off as you back out of the room.  Also make sure you release
 the trigger for a second between every 10/11 shots.  This prevents your
 gun from overheating (If the overheat rate for your gun differs, adjust
 accordingly).

 NOTE: There is an small box hidden behind the right arm of the third
 Wampa.  It is exposed briefly when the Wampa is 'staggered' after a few
 shots.  Apparently when hit, it sets off an alarm in the base.  You
 only have about 0.5 secs to shoot it before the Wampa recovers.  I
 haven't been able to shoot it yet.....have you?  If so, please e-mail
 and tell me what happens.

* The small cave after the Wampa room is the perfect place to score
 combos.  Try not to miss and you'll gain a large Successive Hit bonus.

* As you come out of the cave, fire rapidly at the three
 Stormtroopers ahead of you.  This should enable you to kill the one
 that dashes across the screen.

* You can get away with shooting R2-D2 once or twice without reducing
 your shield level.  He makes that whistling sound.

Secrets
-------
Thanks to `?' (no name or e-mail address), I now know why the SECRET bonus
varies so much.  Each time you shoot the Wampa room door,  the bonus
increases.  Therefore shooting the door rapidly at every opportunity, you
can reach SECRET bonuses in excess of 100,000+ pts!!  The best time to
shoot the door is when you enter and leave the room, but you can also fire
at it on approach and when you back away (you will need to aim carefully
for this).  I also suggest you scorch the sign on the door as it may
increase the bonus.

WARNING: If your machine is set on a high difficulty, you gun may overheat
as a result of firing rapidly at the door.  There is a chance that you may
miss out on the 100% Destruction bonus (from being unable to fire at the
Stormtrooper just before entering the room) or get hit by the second Wampa.
Make sure you let the gun cool slightly in between shooting.

10.2.3 Hanger Bay
      ==========

* Again, to grab the 100% Destruction Bonus you need to kill the Wampa
 and EVERY Stormtrooper that appears.  You'll need to aim well and
 shoot fast.  You must also memorise all the Stormtrooper positions
 and movements, especially the ones that appear at a distance.

* As C3P0 and R2D2 run towards the Millennium Falcon, one
 Stormtrooper appears from a crate on the right side and another will
 run in front of you.  Shoot the one behind the crate first, then
 IMMEDIATELY shoot the other.  It's tough, but remember that bonus!!

* When CP30, R2D2 and the Rebel soldier are near the Falcon, two
 Stormtroopers will appear from behind the crates.  Kill the one on
 the left then IMMEDIATELY shoot the one on the right (you'll need good
 aim for that).

* To kill ALL the following Stormtroopers, commence attack the moment
 the camera turns.  Take them out in the following order:

 1. The machine gunner
 2. The two on the left
 3. The one in the top-left (running for cover)
 4. The one standing to the edge of the large doorway
 5. The one on the right
 6. The one in the doorway (who runs on screen)

 The key element here is killing the two on the left fast enough to
 catch the one running for cover.  Good luck!!

* When the second wave appears, shoot the Stormtrooper on the right
 first.  Then fire rapidly towards the doorway to kill the
 Stormtrooper running across.  Lastly, eliminate the one behind the
 crates on the left.  You have about 4 seconds.

* Against the Wampa, remember to release the trigger for half a second
 between every 10/11 shots to stop the gun from overheating.

* If you take too long to kill the Wampa, you will fail this mission.

10.3.1 Destroy Scout Troopers
      ======================

* Use rapid fire at all times.

* Shoot the Scout Troopers instead of the Speedbikes.  You'll be awarded
 double points, plus it takes less time to destroy them than shooting the
 bike.   However don't shoot the Scout Troopers as they fall off.  If
 you do, your Shield Level will fall.

* To gain the Bloodless bonus, eliminate EVERY Scout Trooper by shooting
 their Speedbikes, instead of killing them.  You'll receive 10000 points.
 Land even ONE shot on a Scout Trooper and you'll get nothing!!!  It
 takes longer to dispatch Scout Troopers this way, increasing the risk
 of damage.  To be frank, it's best to shoot the drivers for double points
 as your score will be much higher that way.  If you want to try for the
 Bloodless bonus anyway, here's some advice.  Good luck!

 1. Shoot the engines at the back of the Speedbike enough times to slow
    the Scout Trooper and force him upwards.  This'll help you avoid
    their attacks and destroy them quicker.

 2. Use rapid fire on the base of the Speedbike to bring the Scout
    Trooper down.

 NOTE: You won't be able to use this procedure for EVERY Scout Trooper.

* Getting the 100% Destruction bonus is fairly easy.  When you eliminate
 the first four Scout Troopers, move the cursor towards the left of the
 screen to reveal another two lurking at the sides.

* Shoot at the AT-ST's whenever you can to gain a large Walker Damage
 bonus.

* About 5 seconds after the last Stormtrooper falls, you can fly into
 trees WITHOUT taking damage.  Strange but true!!

Secrets

To gain the Secret bonus on this level, you need to get a 100%
Destruction bonus.

10.3.2 Set Charges
      ===========

* Once again, obtaining the 100% Destruction bonus involves killing
 EVERY Stormtrooper and Royal Commander that appears.  You WON'T do it
 first time around so memorise enemy positions for future games.  It's
 also the only way to avoid getting hit. Read the following paragraphs
 for hints to destroy the more elusive opponents.

* One particularly obscure Stormtrooper runs along the top of the
 screen as you go under the bridge.  Keep the cursor near the top-
 left of the screen and fire rapidly as you descend.  He's VERY hard
 to get!!

* Tap the EVENT button a few times at the points below to use Ewoks
 against these Stormtroopers:

 1. When the camera angle shifts for the first time (eliminates
    Stormtrooper directly in front of you).

 2. After you've gone under the tree bridge and the camera begins
    to point up (eliminates Stormtrooper standing above you).

 3. When you shoot the first Stormtrooper that runs on AFTER
    your commander yells "don't shoot our own men" (eliminates
    Stormtrooper behind the wall on the left).

 Each Ewok that connects awards 3000 points.  It doesn't effect the
 accumulator.

* After you've set the charges and destroyed the next two Stormtroopers,
 you'll face a particularly nasty wave of opponents.  The first one
 appears from a tree on the left.  Shoot him, then IMMEDIATELY move
 your cursor up to the lower part of the green bush and begin firing.
 Hopefully you'll catch that horrid little Stormtrooper that runs from
 left to right, firing as he goes.  Now kill off the three in front of
 you QUICKLY.  Lastly move your cursor to the left edge of the bush near
 the top-right of the screen.  Now shoot the Royal Commander that appears
 from behind it (he's quite well camouflaged).  This section is VERY
 HARD.  There's a 50% chance of getting hit!!!

 NOTE: If the machine is set to a higher difficulty setting, the first
       Stormtrooper running across the screen will shoot twice, the
       second shot comes just as he disappears off-screen to the right.

* Straight after you kill the Royal Commander, another two Stormtroopers
 will appear.  One from behind a tree on the left and other running across
 the screen from right to left.  Shoot the Stormtrooper by the tree first
 then IMMEDIATELY aim just below the centre of the screen and fire to
 catch the runner.

Secrets
-------
Kill all Stormtroopers that chase Ewoks.  Also don't shoot your own man
that runs across the screen as it might affect the bonus.

9.3.3   Destroy Scout Walker
       ====================

* If your machine is on an EASY-MEDIUM setting, it's possible to
 destroy the Walker quick enough to avoid shooting the guns. Just fire
 rapidly at the body and then the legs to blow it up. If not, follow
 the procedures below.  However you won't get the Total Destruction
 bonus.

* When the action begins, use rapid fire on the body of the Walker,
 releasing the trigger every 8/9 hits to avoid overheating (If the
 overheat rate for your gun differs, adjust accordingly).

* About 10 seconds into the action, a marker will appear around its
 front gun.  Shoot the marker until it disappears to avoid being hit.
 Markers will then appear around the side guns.  Shoot them aiming
 between the Walker and the gun, not directly at the guns themselves.
 If you hear a small bang when shooting, that gun has been destroyed.

* Destroy ALL three guns for a 10000 point Total Destruction bonus.  You
 will know if you have destroyed a gun because no more smoke will
 appear.

* When nearly destroyed, markers appear on its leg joints. Shoot both
 of these until they disappear and it'll blow it up.

* If you take a long time to destroy the Walker without taking damage,
 your 100% Shield Intact Time bonus will be very high.  Continue to shoot
 at the Walker's body while the markers are around the joints and you'll
 still accumulate points and receive a high Quickfire Bonus.  Make sure
 you destroy the Walker before it becomes too close though, otherwise
 you'll fail the mission.

 unless you fail this mission and then you'll receive no bonus.

10.4  ENDOR SPACE - THE FINAL BATTLE
     ******************************

10.4.1 Above Deathstar II
      ==================

* I think it's impossible to receive a 100% destruction bonus (the
 most I ever got was 91%) because of the amount of Tie-Fighters you
 face near the start.

* The Tie-Fighters are a lot quicker on this stage, so use rapid fire
 at all times.

* Try to use the Score Accumulator as much as possible.  You can get
 Successive Hit bonus' of 80000+.

* When facing the barrage of Tie-Fighters at the start, ALWAYS go for
 the middle group.  Destroy them quickly (go for Critical Hits) and then
 instead of picking off Ties from either side, shoot down a complete
 formation.  You'll gain more bonus points.

* Now prepare for the most daunting part of the game, two wide diamond
 formations of Tie-Fighters.  You can lose up to 54 Shield points here
 and that's at Light Lv3!!  To do this properly requires excellent aim
 and speed.  When the first formation appears, take out the top and
 bottom two VERY QUICKLY (it doesn't matter which first).  The moment
 they're destroyed, IMMEDIATELY take out the two on either side. For the
 next formation, you need to take out the left and right Ties VERY
 QUICKLY (it doesn't matter which first).  The moment they're destroyed,
 IMMEDIATELY take out the top and bottom two.

* Once you've destroyed the Tie-Fighters chasing the B-Wing, you can blow
 up the Shield Generator on the Imperial Destroyer before shooting its
 Laser Ports.  Be warned, you must be quick to avoid getting hit!!

* Just after you've destroyed the Tie-Fighters chasing the A-Wing, a
 diamond formation appears from the right, obscured by the wing of the
 Mon Calamari Starship (the stone space shuttle).  Don't wait for them to
 appear from behind the wing, instead aim and fire the moment you see
 them. Your laser will pass THROUGH the wing and destroy them!!
 Strange, but true!!.

* Towards the end you'll face three Tie-Fighters chasing the
 Millennium Falcon along with four Laser Ports and a Shield Generator
 on the Imperial Destroyer.  To destroy everything, the moment the
 camera angle changes, aim around the centre-left of the screen and
 quickly destroy the Tie-Fighters chasing Lando.  Then IMMEDIATELY
 shoot the Laser Ports and the bombs fired.  If you were quick enough you
 should have enough time left to destroy the Shield Generator on top of
 the ship.

* When facing the squadron of Tie-Bombers, take care not to miss a
 shot so you can build your score up via the accumulator.

* Just before you destroy the ninth Bomber, hit the EVENT button.
 This allows your fellow A-Wings to pound the Cargo Ship as it appears,
 giving you a juicy bonus.

Secrets
-------
Destroy the Tie-Fighters chasing the A-wings, the B-Wing and the
Millennium Falcon.  Also defeat the Tie-Bombers and the Cargo Ship.

10.4.2 Deathstar II Surface
      ====================

* Use rapid fire at all times to destroy the walls quickly.

* Try to shoot as many Laser Turrets as possible.  Remember it's
 1000 points for each one destroyed.

* To gain the 100% Destruction bonus, you must quickly shoot down the
 Tie-Fighter formation flying AWAY from you in the middle of this
 section.  To do this you must destroy the wall in front of you as
 quickly as possible, then IMMEDIATELY shoot down the Tie formation
 from bottom to top.  You MUST be quick.

* Towards the end of this section you'll face two walls in a row,
 plus three Ties.  The moment you've destroyed the first wall, keep
 firing in the same direction to destroy the second wall.  The moment
 it explodes, wipe out the Tie-Fighters.

* At the end of this section, you'll face a few walls in a row.
 Just keep using rapid fire and you'll be fine.

* When the last wall has been destroyed, turn your attention to
 shooting the surrounding Laser Turrets before this section ends.

10.4.3 Inside Deathstar II
      ===================

* Use rapid fire at all times to destroy the walls in the tunnel.

* To gain the 100% Destruction bonus EVERY Tie-Fighter must be
 destroyed.  The moment you see the Deathstar core, fire rapidly
 towards the middle-right of the screen. This'll help destroy the
 first diagonal formation of Tie-Fighters.  Finish them off VERY
 QUICKLY, then start shooting the next diagonal formation from bottom
 to top.  The moment that formation's destroyed, IMMEDIATELY begin
 shooting the Tie-Fighters that fly in from the sides.  If you killed
 every Tie-Fighter, a voice shouts "Whoa, that's it".

* The quicker you destroy the Tie-Fighters, the more time you'll have
 left to destroy the core.

* Make sure you get all the targets on the core otherwise you'll fail
 the mission.

10.2     Darth Vader

* When striking Darth Vader make sure you WAIT until the second arrow
 has appeared before moving the Lightsaber.

* If you haven't been hit when you first strike Vader, he will say
 "impressive, most impressive".

* If you don't block Vader's last strike, you will lose.

* If you turn your Lightsaber off (using the EVENT button) after
 you've defeated him, the emperor will say "so be it...Jedi".

* Keep pressing the EVENT button to flash the Lightsaber on and off.
 At the next demo screen with Darth Vader, the Lightsaber will be
