1. Version Update
O.1: Well, I decided it was time to do another Faq, this time, on
Jimmy and Sonia. Sonia's always been a favorite, but Jimmy started
growing on me.

2. What is this game?
This game is the sequel to the first Double Dragon fighting game
based on the movie. But, it's really not a sequel at all, since the
only thing Double Dragon about it is the style of the two main characters,
Billy Lewis(Lee) and Jimmy Lewis(Lee), Billy and Jimmy themselves, Abobo,
whose name is now Abubo and the mention of the dragons. Everything else is new.

3. Why pick Jimmy and Sonia
Well, other than Pepe and Pupa, this is my favorite default team.
I use Sonia alot with Pepe in a team and Jimmy began to grow on me.
Jimmy is easily one of the better characters, because of his power
and good ground combos. Sonia is also a good power hitter, the
strongest girl in the game and she's got an anti-air First Impact. Their
Duplex is the only one where it can be continued after it's done, just
First Impact after it's done, but you have a better chance doing that
with Jimmy.

4. About Jimmy and Sonia
Jimmy is the eldest Lewis brother, being very brash and reckless. He
left his home and took Billy with him to avoid any more abuse. Sonia is
the the daughter of a respected general. Sonia's father was killed and
her mother dissappeared, so she had to fend for herself and she became an
assassin under her father's former partner. Jimmy, with Billy, went to
Sunshine City and was taken in by an uncle, who was a cop. He took the boys
to a dojo to learn from Le Song, the old master. Both brothers had the natural
renosance of the dragon and the master put the dragons in them, Jimmy getting the
Red Dragon. Jimmy always had problems, since he always broke rules and got into
problems with the local gangs. Sonia became a deadly assassin and also became
very cold. She found out her employer had planned her father's murder. She also
found out that some of her targets were innocent people in her client's way. She
tried to kill him, but failed and fled to America, where she continues being an
assassin, then she joins the Black Dragon.
Jimmy refused to join a gang and they became very angry with him. So to get
him back, they attacked and killed Marian, his girlfriend. He and Billy wreck
the entire gang, but Jimmy blames himself for her death and he also blamed Billy,
who was with her. He broke relation with Billy and left his training, picking
fights for money and for thrills. Sonia has a relationship with the leader of the
Black Dragon. Later, she met with Jimmy during a job. Sonia challenges Jimmy and
he refuses, but she insists. Jimmy beats Sonia and instead of hating Jimmy, she
fell in love with him. She begins to follow him around. Sonia's life was threatened
by the Black Dragons and they tried to kill her. Jimmy feels something is wrong and
he returns to Sunshine City, with Sonia still following him. These 2 are favorites
and judging from the story, we'll be seeing plenty of romance fics on this team. Hell,
I might write one myself. ^_^

Basic Controls:
AB: Dodge (Sidestep). The Dodge from KoF, can be thrown out of it.
Fw+AB: Foward Roll, can be thrown out of it.
Bk+AB: Back Roll, can be thrown out of it.
BC: Tag out, you tag out your current character for another one.
CD: First Impact. A Custom Combo of sorts. After connecting with this, the corresponding button presses
will appear on the screen above your super gauge. Can be done in the air, but must jump immediately
after hitting First Impact. The ground builds less super meter, but you can combo more things. The air
version fills your meter faster, but you can't combo certain thigns, but you can combo your Team Duplex
after an air First Impact. The ground on allows more specials and supers to be done.
Basic Specials:
Team Duplex: QCF+BC
This is a tag team combo, basically. You do the motion and your character rushes the opponent and provided it
connects, starts to combo them. Then, your character knocks the enemy to the other side of the screen where your
partner comes out. Do the motion again and the Team Duplex will start. You need 2 Super Bars and your Tag Meter
must be full. Certain teams have their own unique Duplex combos, which means, since this is a Jimmy/Sonia FAQ, that
Jimmy and Sonia have a unique Duplex. You can do a Duplex from a ground First Impact, normals and command moves ONLY
if the character doesn't have a QCF move on the ground. That means that only two characters in the whole game can
combo a Duplex from a ground combo, one of them being Pepe, the other being Oni. Everyone else (including Jimmy and Sonia)
can only combo a Team Duplex after an air first impact. One more thing, it takes a little timing when your partner
runs out to do the Duplex completely. And remember, BOTH characters must be concious for it.
Jimmy and Sonia's Duplex:
After the second person comes out and the Duplex is activated, Sonia does her Snake Hold, throwing 3 knives and the
opponent flies to Jimmy, who does his Dw+A/C finish of Heat Hurricane, then backfists them back to Sonia, who does an
uppercut and a roundhouse kick that electrecutes them and knocks them back to Jimmy, who finishes by doing the finishing
animations to his second level Gunblow, the uppercut and geyser while Sonia puts her hands behind her head and winks.
You can continue with a First Impact if Jimmy is the tagged in partner, not sure about Sonia.
Surrender: ABCD
This is what you use when you want to sacrifice a character, but it has a good catch. No matter how much life the beaten
character has, the partner will recieve full life and a full Super Meter. Useful at times. This is what cost me a match
at Chinatown. (Lost to a Pepe/Oni team, which is a pretty damn good team, I used that team myself.)
CD Counter: CD while blocking
Instead of doing a First Impact, the character flashes red and knocks the enemy away from them. It drains one Super bar.
Other Game Mechanics:
Guard Crush: Works like KoF, attacking a blocking opponent constantly will cause their guard to be broken.
Throw Break: Press C when your opponent does a throw animation, it stops the throw. Air grabs and throws can't
be broken.
Wall: Like in the Real Bout: Fatal Fury series, you can knock an opponent into a wall. If the opponent
hits the wall once, they will bounce off it and can be juggled, which is useful for big combos.
The second time, the wall will break and the stage will become longer. Only certain stages are
without walls. (Jones/Kang, Radel/Annie)
Command Moves: Attacks that can be linked from normal attacks.
Special Moves: A character's unique techniques.
Super Moves: A character's strongest attack. Each person has one, but the button pressed determines the strength
of a move. If you press A or B, it will use only 1 stock. If you use C or D, it will use 2 stocks,
making it more powerful.

Hardheaded, explosive and very unsociable, he escaped from his home along with his
brother, Billy and lived on the streets for a while until they were taken in by an uncle
who was a cop in the Sunshine City department. He put both brothers under the guidance of
Master Le Song. While young, Jimmy always had problems with the local gangs of Sunshine City
and he was the type of guy that did not follow any rules. He was under the guidance of the old
master Le Song to learn and train in order to take the Red Dragon spirit, without knowing
the plan of the old master.
When a powerful gang, angered because Jimmy rejected them to join the gang, attacked Jimmy's
girlfriend. He was not able to protect her and she died. Jimmy went in search of vengeance
destroying the gang with the help of his younger brother, Billy. He blames himself for
her death and the relation with his brother broke apart. He left the training and became a
lone fighter, picking up fights to earn money or just for the thrill of the action that
burns inside his tormented soul. In those circuits, he earned fame of being a tough opponent
and an unknown fighter scarred his face.
In these low places he meets Sonia, an assassin for hire that challenges him. He refuses,
but Sonia insist. So after a close fight, which he won, Sonia started to follow him from town
to town, hidden in the shadows. Jimmy, because of his natural resonance with the Red Dragon
spirit, knows that something is wrong and decides to return to the city he left to forget his past.
(Comments: American Badass with a sense of justice. RotD's ultimate rip-off character.)
Description: He's the Lee brother who always wears red. But it's Lewis now and this time,
he's not in alot of red. The only red on him is the middle of his shirt. The rest is black.
He also wears suspenders and his hair is slicked back to his shoulders with one big bang in
front of his face. He also has a scar on his face. He's holding his trench coat behind him
in his character select screen picture.

Elbow Pound: Fw+A
Jimmy lifts his elbow up, then slams it down on his opponent's head. It's pretty
slow, but it hits overhead. You can't fit it into combos from normal attacks, but
you can cancel out of it. It looks ALOT like Kyo and Shingo's elbow attack.
Rising Uppercut: DwFw+A
Reminded me of Kazuya's Twin Piston's at first. The first thing he does is an
auto-guard. It will guard all high physical attacks. It's too slow to be put
in a combo from normal attacks, though, but if the auto-guard is successful, he'll
go right into the uppercut. Use this during corner combos to make them longer, since
this move is cancellable. Plan the timing of your opponents fall to get the most hits
off Sho Ryu Dan and to fully connect Gun Blow. This is VERY useful against Johann
if he tries to counter when Jimmy is tagged in. It's an automatic block.

Red Rage: QCF+A/C
Jimmy literally throws a fireball at the opponent. One of his few original moves,
but how original is a fireball anyway? Like any projectile, good keep away and
it does some good damage. Use it to finish a blocked combo so you're safe.
Sho Ryu Dan: Fw, Dw, DwFw+A/C
Jimmy does a spinning flame uppercut. This is most definately not original. It's
just Andy Bogard's Sho Ryu Dan, only with flames. The name wasn't even changed!
The C version hits 3 times, but don't abuse the C version. You'll get punished
if you do. Use it to finish combos or to continue wall combos.
Heat Hurricane: (Flame punch finish) HCB+A/C
Flame Elbow Finish: Hold Up
Flame Uppercut Finish: Hold Dw
Jimmy does an elbow attack, then he does a straight punch, then finishes with a
flaming punch. You can alter how it looks, so he can either do a flaming uppercut
instead or a flaming low punch instead. Too slow for combos. Use it to trick
opponents or to hit a blocking opponent, but it is kinda slow. It's kind of like
Kyo's Aragami and Dokugami combos, only easier.
Cannon Kick: QCB+B/D
Jimmy does a front flip with his leg out, kicking his opponent's head. An easier way
to describe it is that it's Terry's Crack Shot. No modifications, no differences, it's
the Crack Shot. It's an overhead move and the B version can be put in a combo.

Gun Blow: QCB, HCF+A/C
Jimmy dashes to his enemy with a flaming punch, then hits them with a flaming
uppercut. The C version will also make him punch the floor, making a huge fire
geyser hit the opponent. THIS is also unoriginal, since it's Terry's Overheat
Geyser, only 3 hits, stronger, and better looking. It's great for combos. Now
if only Jimmy stopped using moves of other characters...

Sonia comes from an old family with deep roots in Russia. She's the only daughter of a
respected General. She was raised in her childhood with plenty of luxury, despite the severe
crisis that the country had. But her life had a shocking turn when her father was murdered in
political disputes and her mother dissappears. With nobody to look after her, she's quickly
dragged by the turmoil of crisis in the country and soon she found herself as an assassin
under the orders of former partner of her father. After several years of training, that turns
her into a cold machine of assassination, she discovers that her father's death was planned
by the man she has served for several years and finds the reality behind the works she
has done before: They were sometimes just innocents that were in the ambitious way of
her boss.
After failing the assassination of her own boss, she fled from the country and then
she arrives at America, where she continues her job as hitman and for money. She joins
the Black Dragon sect., where she met the boss of the sect, a powerful and handsome richman
and she had a brief relationship with him. But later, while out for a job, she met Jimmy. The
first impression of the young fighter leaves her breathless and falls in love with him, after
losing to him in a fight. She began to follow him, ignoring the dark shadow that torments Jimmy.
After this, some guys from the sect. have been trying to kill her and while following Jimmy she
realizes that soon they will be at Sunshine City. The time to settle business with her former
boss is close.
(Comments: A sexy assassin who follows Jimmy to get revenge and because she loves him.)
Description: The woman with short lavander hair and the tight red outfit. She's the woman
who's arm his going behind her and her other hand is, well, touching one of her breasts on
her character select screen pic. She has a slight resemblance to Ivy Valentine of Soul
Calibur fame.

Axe Kick: Fw+B
Sonia lifts her leg and slams it down on the enemy's head. It's an overhead and a
bit slow, which means she can't use it in a combo after normal attacks. But it is
cancellable.
Slide Sweep: DwFw+B
Sonia does a slide kick, then sweeps the opponent. It has to be blocked low and it
doesn't knock the opponent down, even though it's a sweep. It will only connect
after Fierce hits, both hits can be canceled.

Fascination Sharp: HCB+A/C
Sonia grabs her opponent by the waist and jumps up with them, then flips and dives
down, making the enemy land on their head. It's unblockable and can be used in a
combo. Do it near a wall for a wall combo.
Snake Hold: QCF+A/B/C/D
Sonia throws a knife. Look below for directions:
A button: Goes straight to opponent.
B button: Stops and spins in the middle of the screen, then shoots up at an angle.
C button: Stops and spins in the middle of the screen, then shoots to opponent.
D button: Stops and spins in the middle of the screen, then shoots straight up.
A version is quick, the others can be used to trick your opponent.
Serpent Bite: QCB+B/C
Sonia rolls back and attacks with an electricuting kick or kicks. With B, she does
an electric roundhouse kick. With D, she does the sweep kick, then does the kick.
It can decieve the opponent if they aren't too familiar with Sonia and can set up
a wall combo, just too slow to be used IN a combo.
Serpent Slash: Fw, Dw, DwFw+B/D
Sonia does a rising knee attack, then does a front flip and slams her foot into the
opponent, slamming them down. The D version knee hits twice. Good anti-air and good
for combos, including for wall combos.

Sonia raises her hand and summons a pillar of energy to attack. For level 1's, use
A or B to determine where the pilla will come out. For level 2, C or D. It's a great
anti-air and good for combos. Looks like Magneto's Magnetic Shockwave from the Versus
Games.

Jimmy: Too much power to handle. What a jerk.
Next Scene: Static.
Jimmy: The pain is still the same.
Next Scene: Jimmy is at a cemetary, paying respects to Marian, his dead girlfriend.
Jimmy: Hello baby, it's been a long time... There are things I haven't fixed yet, but besides that, there is something
wrong and I think this is only the beginning.
Next Shot: Sonia is leaning on a pole, behind Jimmy, same shot as before, just with Sonia.
Sonia: So who was she anyway?
Jimmy: "She" was somebody special for me so keep your mouth shut.
Sonia: Sorry, but I was just wondering why we are here.
Jimmy: She died because of my fault...and I must live with that...
Jimmy: You had your vengence, why are you still here?
Sonia: That was not vengence, I was only returning a favor.

Lynn is behind them both, looking lost.
Jimmy: What are you doing here?

Billy: Jimmy, this is important, it's not over yet, I can feel it.
Billy: Jimmy, are you listening to me?
Jimmy: ...
Billy: I know that it hurts what happened to Marian but it wasn't your fault, you must forget that.
Next Shot: A sign of someone getting hit.
Next Scene: Billy is on the ground, wiping his mouth. Jimmy punched him.
Jimmy: You know nothing!! and I don't care about the Black Dragon.
Billy: Jimmy, please, you need to forget her.
Billy: Wake up! I need your help on this.
Next Scene: Jimmy has his back turned to Billy, who is hunched over. Jimmy looks pissed. Sonia is next to Jimmy, wearing
a coat, not really caring about Billy's well being. Lynn is behind Billy, a little worried.
Billy: You can't run forever Jimmy, someday the rage of the dragon will consume you, the spirit is too strong and you
feed it with hate!
Jimmy: Don't worry about me little brother, I'll be ready if that's my destiny. And for the Black Dragon, don't worry if
he gets in my way I'll take him down.
Billy: You don't understand, but I wish luck anyway.
(Comments: Sibling rivalry. Billy wants to end this problem, Jimmy could care less.)

15. Good partners for Jimmy and Sonia (besides each other)
Ok, I did it in my first Faq, so I'll put down, through experience, the best 4 partners for Jimmy and Sonia.
Jimmy:
1. Oni
Oni, in some circles is the cheapest character in the game. Hell, one kid I completely dominated beat me once
using Oni. Oni is usually the character people pick when they wanna win a match.
2. Billy
Ah yes, the Double Dragon's themselves. They are, IMO, one of the best teams in the game.
3. Pepe
Pepe is one of the better characters and probably the best combo character. He's fast, strong and he can take
hits. And his combos, especially wall combos, can do alot of damage. A good Jimmy/Pepe team can make a match
quick.
4. Pupa
Yes, Pupa IS a good partner for Jimmy, mostly because her Breeze Dancer is a little similar to Sonia's Serpent
Slash, which makes wall combos very nice with this team. That and you can easily take out a person using both
a level 2 Super Quiexada and a maxed Gun Blow in one big combo.
Sonia:
1. Pepe
My main edit team. Team combos with these two can really decimate anyone.
2. Lynn
The Double Dragon's girlfriends team. Combo the hell out of your opponent!
3. Cassandra
Cassandra can do some lethal air combos, especially with White Wave involved.
4. Billy
Both are good balanced characters. Use Sonia to set Billy up for some lethal juggles.
