Hi, I'm yyr (Aaron Teplitsky). Some of you may know me from the DDR community,
or from my Pump Exceed PS2 FAQ. But enough about me. Let's talk about Pump It
Up Zero, which I'll refer to from here on out as just "Pump Zero."
Pump Zero is the first of some exciting 2006 step game releases! Zero sports
more new content than ever, and this will be your complete guide! Included:
information on the songlist, difficulties, mods, secrets and missions.
There's also info on the gameplay itself, Zero's new features, and some
differences between Pump and some other, similar games, namely Dance Dance
Revolution (DDR) and In The Groove (ITG). I hope this will become something
that players of every level can benefit from. Enjoy it, and enjoy Pump Zero!
That said: I am not an authority on Pump Zero or the Pump series by any means.
I don't even consider myself to be all that good at the game. Therefore, you
will not find much in the way of playing tips, strategies or song-specific
information in here. However, the best places to obtain such information
are Internet forums, such as those on www.bemanistyle.com and www.ddrfreak.com.
By far, the most populated and comprehensive Pump forum I've found is Pump
Haven, located at
http://www.ph-online.net.
Before I go any further, I'll say that Ultra Deity Ganon from the GameFAQs
boards caused me to put this together. This was because he posted the
information on Mission mode seen below. Since the GameFAQs boards erase
outdated threads, I figured it would be a good idea to post this as a FAQ, which
would never be erased.
This was before I realized that it was all at the Pump Haven message boards, and
all U.D.G. did was repost it, but ... thanks anyway, for starting my job for me.
=)
NOTE: There are several instances in this FAQ where codes or commands are given.
For these, numbers will correspond to arrows on the PIU platform, like this:
7 9 7 = Up/Left. 9 = Up/Right.
5 5 = Center.
1 3 1 = Down/Left. 3 = Down/Right.
Version History:
0.9 - 6/ 6/2006 - Additions and corrections. Thanks to Turkeyslam and the PH
forum regulars!
0.8 - 5/ 1/2006 - Original release. Numbered this way on purpose because some
info is missing or probably incorrect. Please let me know
about anything I missed or got wrong.
Missing/Incomplete/Incorrect Information (that I'm aware of):
- Some details in Mission Station missions are possibly incorrect/incomplete
- Details on the last hidden remix (at this time, NOBODY knows)
- Exact details of the unlock system (will we ever know?)
2.0 - What is Pump Zero?
-----
Pump It Up Zero is the February 2006 release in Andamiro's popular dance
simulation game series, Pump It Up! Pump Zero contains new songs, modes and
steps for old favorites!
2.1 - How To Play
-----
Pump It Up is a dancing (stepping) game where you select a song and difficulty
out of the available library, then step on arrow panels in response to commands
given on the screen. These commands are in the form of colored arrows that rise
towards a "step zone" towards the top of the screen. The moving arrows will
overlap the "step zone" to the beat of the music--this is the time at which
you're supposed to hit the corresponding panels!
Sometimes 2 (or more) arrows will appear at the same time. You must jump and/or
use your hands to hit them all simultaneously! Also, sometimes you'll see an
arrow with a trail following it. You must HOLD your foot on this arrow for the
length of the trail to avoid a massive penalty!
Each step will be judged based on your accuracy.
Perfect: You hit the step with perfect timing, or close to it.
Great: You were slightly off.
Good: You were further off.
Bad: You were way, way off.
Miss: You missed the step completely.
Above the step zone each player has a meter (lifebar) that measures how well
they're doing. The meter will go up if you're doing well (Perfect, Great) and
go down if you're doing poorly (Bad, Miss). If the meter completely empties,
you will fail out of the song ("Stage Break") and the game will end instantly.
Otherwise, when the song is complete, you will receive a screen with a summary
of your scoring and a letter grade based on your total song performance.
S: You did fantastic, with no Misses!
A: You did great!
B: You did okay.
C: You missed a lot of steps, but managed to make it through.
D: You passed by the skin of your teeth, and are probably out of breath.
F: Nooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyy! (If you get an F, the game is over.)
Additional notes on Stage Break:
* If two players are playing, Stage Break will not occur unless BOTH players
fail the song.
* Stage Break will not occur during the first song; you will always get to
finish at least one song per game.
* Stage Break will not occur in Easy Station.
* If one of the following conditions occurs, Stage Break will happen
immediately, even if one of the above situations applies:
* In a 1-player game, the player receives more than 50 consecutive Misses.
* In a 2-player game, BOTH players receive more than 50 consecutive Misses.
These are considered "giving up," and the game will end.
2.2 - Differences From Similar Games
-----
Anyone who's played similar games--namely DDR and ITG--for any length of time
surely knows that just about all of the above description applies to those games
too. So... to a DDR or ITG player, what exactly makes Pump different? Read on
to find out!
- The Platform/Pad
The biggest difference is that Pump features a totally different "stage" from
the other two games. Instead of four arrows--Up, Down, Left and Right--Pump
features five panels: Up-Left, Up-Right, Down-Left, Down-Right and Center.
The panels are arranged in the shape of an X. To easily visualize this, look at
your keyboard's numeric keypad: 7, 9, 5, 1 and 3. It's typical for a DDR/ITG
player to take a while to get used to the different layout, as it requires that
you move around more. Many players who have played both Pump and 4-panel games
believe that the steps in Pump feel closer to actual dancing.
- The Arrows
The arrows themselves are shaped differently, but the big difference is in their
coloring. In DDR/ITG, the arrows are colored according to their timing. In
Pump, that is not the case; the Up-Left and Up-Right arrows are always colored
red/orange, the Down-Left and Down-Right arrows are always colored blue, and the
Center is always colored yellow. For people used to the other games, this makes
songs more difficult to read at lower BPM. Many serious Pump players always use
speed mods.
- The Mods
Pump's mods are generally more minimalistic than DDR's, and you don't find too
many ITG-like mods here. All of the speed mods are whole numbers (1x, 2x,
3x...), for example. You will find a lot of similar mods (like "Nonstep,"
Pump's version of Stealth), but also some that differ slightly. For example,
instead of Shuffle, Pump has a Random mod that actually randomly assigns arrows
for you. In Double modes, this can get ridiculous!
- The Backgrounds
While ITG uses fairly generic background movies, and DDR strings short movie
clips together, Pump contains full-length, full-screen backgrounds for every
song! Many of these consist of gorgeous hand-drawn animation! This is one of
the areas where Pump really shines. Be careful not to fail your song because
you were watching the background animations instead!
- The Difficulties
DDR and ITG actually feature five different difficulty levels for Single mode,
although not all songs have steps in every difficulty. In fact, most of DDR's
songs lack Challenge steps. In addition, Double has four difficulties of its
own in both games.
Pump is very different in this regard. Pump contains only three Single
difficulties and two Double difficulties. Not all difficulties are available in
each song.
- Songlist Style
DDR, having come from Japan, features many songs on its songlists that are
either sung in Japanese or appeal to Japanese audiences. Recent North American
versions of DDR have fewer of these than the original Japanese releases. But
Andamiro has made no attempt to hide Pump's Korean heritage in American versions
of Pump. In fact, it's been embraced... the K-Pop Channel, almost half of
the game, is entirely Korean music! Please enjoy the sounds of popular Korean
artists!
Additionally, you'll find that the music in Pump--including the music created by
the in-house team, BanYa--leans more towards traditional pop music than DDR or
ITG. You won't find much in the way of techno and trance here, for instance.
For some players, this is a breath of fresh air.
- Grading/Scoring
Technical players of other dance games will quickly realize that the timing
window on "Perfect" steps is very large compared to DDR. Many steps that would
have been Greats in DDR will be Perfects in Pump, and many DDR players whose
accuracy is generally less than perfect will often find themselves with single-
digit Greats. Likewise, the grading system is also more lax than DDR's. You
can get a large number of Misses but still wind up with an "A." The technical
emphasis in Pump seems to simply be on passing the difficult songs with decent
accuracy, and not necessarily hitting all of the steps perfectly.
- Freezes
Freeze or Hold arrows work differently in Pump than in DDR or ITG. Those two
games treat a freeze/hold arrow as two things: the step and the freeze. You are
scored twice (once on each). In Pump, freezes are very different. It's as if
they're equivalent to a string of notes on the same arrow, but you only have to
hold your foot down to hit them all. In other words, you'll see "Perfect
Perfect Perfect Perfect..." until the end of the freeze, unless you aren't
holding your foot down, in which case you'll see "Miss Miss Miss Miss..." In
other words, don't miss Pump freezes, or you'll be failing out pretty quickly.
- Hands
In The Groove did NOT invent Hands; they were in Pump first. (Hands: having to
hit more than two panels at the same time.) Most songs don't have Hands, but
quite a few do, especially on Crazy and Nightmare difficulties. The main
difference here is that the songlist won't warn you in advance...you'll have to
keep an eye out for them, and be ready!
Those are the major differences. Some sound good and some don't sound so good,
but for the most part, they're just differences between games that ultimately
play about the same. If you've truly enjoyed 4-panel games such as DDR and ITG,
you will definitely come to enjoy Pump if you give it a chance!
3.0 - Explanation of Difficulties and Mods
-----
3.1 - Step Difficulties
-----
When playing Arcade, Remix and Mission Stations, steps come in five distinct
difficulties. Not all difficulties are available for every song.
NORMAL ("Beginner Mode"): This Single difficulty contains the game's easiest
steps (except for Easy Station's). In DDR terms, the difficulties range from
approximately one to seven feet. Older versions of Pump called this level
"Easy."
HARD ("Professional Mode"): Players who are familiar with similar games should
start here. This Single difficulty contains a wide range of step levels, but
once you're truly good at Pump, you should be more than able to master them all.
In DDR terms, difficulties range from approximately four to ten feet.
CRAZY ("Stepper Mode"): The hardest Single difficulty. The easiest steps here
will give you a workout, while the most difficult are so very hard that they
make ITG steps look tame. In DDR terms, difficulties start from approximately
eight feet.
FREESTYLE ("Performance Mode"): The normal Double difficulty. You must use both
sides to play this mode, and move around quite a bit to hit everything, but the
reward comes in the form of amazingly fun steps you simply can't experience
anywhere else. In DDR terms, difficulties range from approximately two to ten
feet. Older versions of Pump simply called this level "Double."
NIGHTMARE ("Burning Mode"): This Double difficulty contains the game's hardest
steps. Prepare for pain. This mode is like Crazy, cranked up a notch, thrown
across both pads. Only the best of the best can clear the hardest this mode has
to offer.
NOTE: Pump players treat the Double difficulties differently from the way DDR
and ITG players generally do. In DDR and ITG, Double is generally seen as
separate and "optional," and you rarely see Double competition, even in
high-level tournaments. With Pump, on the other hand, Nightmare is considered
to be the hardest difficulty level and the end of a normal progression. The
best Pump players are expected to play Nightmare, and all high-level Pump
tournaments -- including Andamiro's official World Pump Festival competition --
use Nightmare mode in their final rounds.
3.2 - Mods
-----
Just as in similar games, you can change the way arrows scroll or appear by
using modifiers. In Pump, you choose these modifiers by entering codes using
the arrow panels. Unlike in DDR/ITG, there unfortunately is no menu to make
this process easier. Enter the codes on the Music Select screen. Make sure to
enter the codes BEFORE you choose your song, because if you don't, entering the
code will completely change what you've selected! Once entered, mods will
remain in effect until changed, cancelled, or your game is over.
In many locations, there will be a sticker on the machine that clearly displays
many of these codes, but not all arcades will put the sticker up.
NOTE: Codes cannot be entered in Mission Station. There, the game will assign
mods to you automatically.
Convention:
Name of Mod (Code): Explanation
2x Speed (79795): Makes the arrows scroll twice as fast as they normally would,
making steps easier to read (in most cases).
3x Speed (79795 twice): Makes the arrows scroll at three times normal speed.
4x Speed (79795 three times): Arrows will scroll at four times normal speed.
8x Speed (79795 four times): Arrows will scroll at eight times normal speed.
1x Speed (79795 five times): Resets the scroll speed to normal.
Random Velocity (797979795): Arrows will scroll at a randomly-selected speed,
which may change several times during the song.
Freedom (719337915): Hides the Step Zone from the top of the screen. This same
effect is called "Dark" in DDR and "Hide Targets" in ITG.
Acceleration (111177775): Arrows speed up as they approach the step zone. In
DDR, this effect is called "Boost."
Deceleration (333399995): Arrows slow down as they approach the step zone. In
ITG, this effect is called "Brake."
Vanish (79135): Arrows will disappear approximately 2/3 of the way up the
screen. Similar to "Hidden" in DDR.
Nonstep (79135 twice): Arrows will not appear at all, just like DDR "Stealth."
Earthworm (319739175): Arrows will "bump" up the screen, similar to ITG "Bumpy."
Mode X (191937375): Arrows will scroll DIAGONALLY up the screen.
Mirror (319731975): Steps will be a mirror image of their original form. In
other words, if you play facing away from the screen and step normally, you
will hit all of the correct steps.
Random (797913135): Steps will be randomly generated. If you're playing both
sides, BEWARE!
Cancel (131313): Cancels ALL codes previously entered.
The following codes cannot be used until unlocked in Mission Station:
New Arrow Skin (791513393): Changes the appearance of the arrows. Unlocked
after completing Mission 9.
Musical Note Skin (791513391): Same effect, different appearance. Unlocks after
completing Mission 10.
Extra Skin (791513395): Arrow appearance from older Korean versions. Unlocks
after completing Mission 11. Was previously also called "Old Version Skin."
Canon-D Eye Skin (791513399): Yet another different appearance. Unlocks after
completing Mission 18.
Slime Skin (791513397): One more different appearance. Unlocks after ?.
Grade Reverse Mode (79513315975): After every step, you will not see the correct
rating, but the opposite of it instead. For example, if you hit 5 Perfects,
you will see MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS. If you miss 5 steps you will see
PERFECT 5 times. This only affects the step rating displayed; the lifebar
will function normally. This code unlocks after completing Mission 12.
The following mods cannot be selected, but are used in Mission Station:
Mines: Some arrows are replaced with mines. You'll know 'em when you see 'em.
If you step on one by mistake, you will lose a MASSIVE amount of lifebar,
possibly enough to fail the stage instantly. Avoid at all costs!
Item: Some arrows are replaced with either mines or speed multipliers. Avoid
the mines. If you step on a speed multiplier (either 2x, 3x or 4x), the
speed mod will be changed instantly. You can avoid these to prevent changing
speeds, but if you do, it will count as a Miss, so be careful.
Flower Card Skin: Just different-looking arrows. You can use this skin in Easy
Station. (You MAY be able to use this in Arcade Station, but the method is
unknown.)
4.0 - Explanation of Modes
-----
When you credit the game and "Press Center Step," you will be presented with a
list of modes. Use 1 and 3 to change the highlighted option; press Center twice
to confirm your selection and start the game.
You can choose from Easy Station, Arcade Station, Remix Station and Mission
Station.
NOTE: Mission Station is a 1-player mode. If 2 players join the game, Mission
Station will not appear.
NOTE: There is no way to switch modes once a game is in progress.
4.1 - Easy Station
-----
Easy Station is a new mode intended for beginners. It can the default choice on
the menu (it's an operator setting), so be sure not to mash the Center step if
you actually wanted to play Arcade Station for some odd reason. =\
Easy Station uses a small list of 18 songs, a simplified (and very pink)
interface, and brand-new steps rated 3 or lower. In addition, the default song
on the list is "How To Play," which actually is an interactive tutorial. (You
can only play this once per game.)
Here's how the Easy Station interface works:
1, 3: Switch song
7: Adjust speed mod (possible choices: 1x, 2x, 3x)
9: Switch note skin (five choices)
5 twice: Play
There are no Channels, and only one difficulty level. Stage Break is off.
Enjoy, but try not to spend too much time in here if you actually want to get
good at the game.
4.2 - Arcade Station
-----
The main game mode features 112 songs this time around, including 22 new ones.
Additionally, about a dozen and a half new stepcharts have been added in the
K-Pop and BanYa Channels, mostly for Crazy and Nightmare modes. (Some of these
replace old steps.)
Play 3 songs. If you pass them all and get at least an A on each, you get to
play a 4th (Bonus Stage).
If you pass all 4 songs, you will receive a code for Internet Ranking on
Andamiro's Web site. See the Q&A section for details on the scoring system.
The interface has changed. Here's how it works:
1, 3: Switch song
7: Switch difficulty (Normal, Hard, Crazy, Freestyle, Nightmare)
NOTE: Freestyle and Nightmare use both sides, and do not appear in 2-player
games.
NOTE: In 2-player games, each player can now select a different difficulty!!
9: Switch channel (Banya, K-Pop, Pop, Another)
5 twice: Play
Another Channel: This new channel contains all-new steps (usually quite
difficult) for several songs, mostly existing songs from previous versions.
This channel is initially hidden, and once it's unlocked, there isn't much to
see; more steps will be unlocked as you play.
NOTE: Playing Another steps disqualifies you from Internet Ranking.
4.3 - Remix Station
-----
First introduced in Exceed2, Remix Station is virtually unchanged here. There
are four new remixes for a total of 18, plus you can freely select Canon-D Full
Mix without having to unlock it first. The last Remix is hidden, and the unlock
procedure is unknown at this time.
Remixes usually combine pieces of three different songs and last for about 2 and
a half minutes, with Canon-D Full being an exception at over 3 minutes. The
steps are not re-used from Arcade Station; the remixes have all-new steps.
Enjoy the unique challenge of Remix Station!
The interface works the same way as that of Arcade Station. The game lasts two
stages; there is no Bonus Stage or Internet Ranking.
4.4 - Mission Station
-----
For the first time in Pump, or any dance game, you can attempt Mission Mode in
the arcades! DDR players will pretty much know what this is, but there are some
changes. Here's the way Missions work in Pump Zero:
1. You will be asked to choose a mission from 1-30, or a set of random Crazy or
Nightmare missions. The random missions are not randomly selected from existing
missions; they are actually randomly generated. Use 1/3 to select and Center
twice to choose a mission.
NOTE: You are NOT choosing individual missions; you are actually choosing a set
of 3.
NOTE: Only Missions 1-3 are available at first; the rest must be unlocked.
Playing Arcade/Remix/Easy Stations, or other missions, will unlock more
missions.
2. The rules for the stage will be displayed. Press Center to start.
(The screen has a time limit; if it runs out, the stage will begin
automatically.)
Pay close attention to the rules. All game difficulties can be used, including
those that force you to play both sides. Mods will often be used. Also,
sometimes you will have to do something specific. For example: "Max Combo
= 72" means you must clear the stage with a Max Combo of EXACTLY 72... not
higher, not lower.
3. If you clear the stage, you proceed to the next in the set. If you clear the
3rd stage, the mission is cleared. If you clear it, you'll be asked to enter
your name; it will be displayed on the "Mission History" board during attract
mode. (There are also other conditions that will allow you to enter your name.)
If a mission contains any unlocks, they will be unlocked automatically and
permanently once that mission is cleared.
(The mission may be replayed by other players if desired, but only one unlock
will happen.)
If you fail a stage, you have the option to continue from that stage, but this
unfortunately costs another credit. If you don't continue, your progress will
be lost.
NOTE: In certain locations, Mission Mode continues may only cost 1 coin, rather
than an entire credit. I cannot confirm this, because my location uses a
card-swipe system.
5.0 - Songlist & Difficulty Guide
-----
Here I will list each song in the game, first by channel and then by difficulty.
In the "by Difficulty" charts, songs with identical difficulties will be rated
according to BPM, since faster songs are usually more difficult than slower
ones.
WARNING: The rating system for this game is odd. You will find mis-numbered
songs...lots of them. The rating system is a good general guide, but you should
not believe it to be the last word on the song's difficulty.
NOTE: Another Channel steps are not listed. This is because Another Channel
steps are not given difficulty ratings in-game. They are all shown as "??" and
widely vary in difficulty.
5.1 - Songlist & Difficulty Guide, by Channel
-----
NML = Normal, H = Hard, C = Crazy, F = Freestyle, NMR = Nightmare
Song names in brackets indicate unlockable songs.
Songs labeled * are new songs, with all-new steps.
Steps labeled * are new steps.
For songs with varying BPM, the peak BPM is listed.
NOTE: For Easy Station listings, see Section 5.2 below.

6.0 - Mission List
-----
Here is the complete list of Pump Zero's missions. Here is the convention used:
Mission #
Stage 1 --> Song Name (Difficulty Level) [Mods] Requirements
------------> Unlock
#: Mission number. Each mission contains 3 stages.
SONG NAME: Duh!
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Normal, Hard, Crazy, Freestyle or Nightmare.
MODS: Listed here are the modifiers you are forced to use for this stage. They
are explained in Section 4.
REQUIREMENTS: Even if you don't fail the song, you MUST fulfill these
requirements to clear the stage. If not, you will be politely told that you
have failed!
UNLOCK: Some missions, when cleared, will unlock content for the other game
modes. These unlocks are permanent! Also, they may ONLY be obtained in Mission
Mode... you cannot unlock them just by playing Arcade/Remix Stations!
NOTE: Not all requirements are listed. In most cases, only important
requirements are listed. For example, Mission 3-3 requires that you get 10 or
fewer misses, and also requires that you get an A... but if you got 10 or fewer

7.0 - Unlocking and Secrets
-----
Pump Zero uses a point system for most unlocks. This is invisible; the game
keeps track of everything and doesn't show you what's going on. Another
Channel, most Another steps, Missions 4-30, the song Oh My!, and possibly other
content unlocks this way.
What we know: playing Arcade Station will get you points. Using mods and
getting S ranks may get you more points. Playing Crazy/Nightmare might also
earn more points. Playing Remix or Easy Stations gets you more points than
playing Arcade Station. Playing Mission Station will earn you LOTS more points
than any other mode.
One unconfirmed theory posted by bse523 at Pump Haven goes like this:
- 500 points for every time you pass something in mission mode regardless of
whether or not you've passed it before (includes the random CZ/NM)
- 20 points for every song you pass in Easy Station.
- 10 points for every song passed in Arcade Station.
- If you do songs on Random, Vanish, etc. you get a couple of extra points.
These numbers are most likely incorrect, but it would seem that this theory is
a half-decent approximation of what the numbers might look like.
As for the unlocks themselves:
- Another Channel unlocks really early on, possibly even before Mission 4.
The following stepcharts are available immediately:
Final Audition 2: Another Crazy
Final Audition 3: Another Nightmare
Solitary 2: Another Crazy
Mexi Mexi: Another Freestyle
Eres Para Mi: Another Freestyle
My Friend: Another Freestyle
- The song Oh My! unlocks between the openings of Missions 9 and 10.
- The following stepcharts all unlock at various times using the point system.
Extravaganza: Another Crazy - between Missions 7 and 8
Final Audition 2: Another Nightmare - between Missions 11 and 12
Love is a Danger Zone 2: Another Hard, Crazy & Nightmare - between 13 and 14
Naissance 2: Another Nightmare - between Missions 15 and 16
Final Audition: Another Nightmare - between Missions 17 and 18
Do It Yourself: Another Nightmare - between Missions 19 and 20
Solitary 2: Another Nightmare - between Missions 21 and 22
Mr. Larpus: Another Nightmare - between Missions 23 and 24
Extravaganza: Another Nightmare - between Missions 25 and 26
Another Truth: Another Nightmare - between Missions 27 and 28
Witch Doctor: Another Nightmare - between Missions 29 and 30
The other unlocks are obtained in Mission Station. You must clear all 3 stages
of the mission to get the unlock. They are listed above in the Mission List,
but I'll summarize them below for convenience:
Mission 7: Witch Doctor (Song)
Mission 9: New Arrow Skin (Code = 7 9 1 5 1 3 3 9 3)
Mission 10: Musical Note Skin (Command = 7 9 1 5 1 3 3 9 1)
Mission 11: Extra Skin (Command = 7 9 1 5 1 3 3 9 5)
Mission 12: Grade Reverse Mode (Command = 7 9 5 1 3 3 1 5 9 7 5)
Mission 16: Love is a Danger Zone (Another Freestyle & Nightmare)
Mission 17: Witch Doctor (Another Crazy)
Mission 18: Canon-D Eye Skin (Command = 7 9 1 5 1 3 3 9 9)
Mission 19: Final Audition 1 (Another Crazy)
Mission 20: Join The Party (Another Nightmare)
Mission 26: Circus Magic (Another Nightmare)
NOTE: Circus Magic is not playable in any form other than Another Nightmare.
Mission 27: Vook (Another Freestyle & Nightmare)
Mission 28: I'll Give You All My Love (Another Nightmare)
At this time, it is believed that you can ONLY obtain these unlocks in Mission
Station. In other words, you might HAVE to pass these missions to ever see the
unlocks.
Secret Codes:
Using the Solitary 2 code from Exceed2 (1 9 5 1 3 7 5 3 5) allows two players to
play in Score Battle mode! Enter the code on the music selection screen. You
must use it every time you want to play Score Battle.
It is believed that a code will allow you to play the final hidden remix, but
Andamiro has not yet revealed the code.
8.0 - Q&A
-----
The questions and information from this section were gathered from various
online message boards and other sources.
Q: Is there a code to unlock everything?
A: If there is, nobody outside of Andamiro knows.
Q: What's the fastest way to unlock things?
A: Play Mission Station. A lot. And pass everything within. Piece of cake! =)
Q: How do you use speed mods?
A: Press (in this order) Up-Left, Up-Right, Up-Left, Up-Right, Center. This
will switch to the next speed setting. Enter the code again until you find the
setting you want. It is best to do this before you choose your song, as
entering the code will change your selections.
For a complete list of modifier codes, please check section 3.2, above.
Q: How does the scoring system work?
A: Base point values per step are:
Perfect: 1000
Great: 500
Good: 100
Bad: -200
Miss (Tap): -500
Miss (Hold): -300
* If your combo is > 50 and you got a perfect or great, add 1000.
* If the step has 3 panels, multiply by 1.5. If there are 4 or more panels,
multiply by 2.
* Finally, if playing on Nightmare, add 500000 to your final score. If you S the
song (any difficulty), add 100000 to the final score.
* In addition, your score is automatically doubled if you played any of these
songs, on any difficulty level: Chung Hwa Ban Jeom, My Friend, Enter the Dragon,
Witch Doctor, Phantom, Moonlight, Beat of the War 2, Love is a Danger Zone 2 and
Papa Gonzales.
Thanks to MonMotha and Turkeyslam for this info.
Q: Where's Battle Station from Exceed2?
A: Gone. Furthermore, all special two-player modes and steps were removed from
Pump Zero.* All that's left is the ability to play the Single steps with
someone else at the same time, like in DDR and ITG. Sorry.
* Apparently this is not entirely true! Using the Solitary 2 code from Exceed2
(1 9 5 1 3 7 5 3 5) allows two players to play in Score Battle mode! Enter the
code on the music selection screen. You must use it every time you want to play
Score Battle.
Q: I've been playing DDR for years, but this game seems impossible...why?
A: It's just the different button layout that's confusing you. Give it time.
It took a while to get good at DDR, right? This is no different. Practice!
And if you're having trouble reading the arrows, try a higher speed mod.
Q: Honestly, seriously...is this game REALLY as good as DDR?
A: It's all a matter of opinion and personal preference. There are people that
enjoy Pump MORE than DDR or ITG. Perhaps you should try it...maybe you'll wind
up being one of them!
9.0 - uh, Conclusion?
