2. Game Info
The purpose of this game is to get the Golden Lamp at the end of the Final
Stage (Stage 4).
On each stage, Goemon collects the gold bars at the MIDPOINT (and smokes his
pipe),
and at the ENDPOINT, he gives all the money to the poor. The farther you jump
over the gold
bars at the midpoint, the more points that you'll get!

There are two methods of attack:
*Pipe Attack - Useful only if you do not have a projectile, or the enemy is too
close.
*Projectile - These are found hanging around in mid-air as you go along a
stage. You can                       only carry one at a time. Good for hitting
enemies that are out of range,
or for clearing out a series of enemies. The only way you can
defeat a boss
             is by using these.

You can also choose not to attack, but this will not help you score (except you
might get a higher time bonus). In addition, enemies tend to crowd the screen
in the later stages if you
take this route, making it hard to survive. If you do decide not to attack, you
should stay
near the top of the screen.
You can also jump on top of an enemies head; this will knock them down to the
next lower
platforms. If the enemy is on the bottom platform (and you jump on their head),
they will
fall off the screen (but you will get no points for their demise).

You should not go out of you way to kill enemies unless you want a high score;
you can often
get trapped by several enemies trying to kill one!

There are two objects that you can find along the way that will help you to
kill enemies AND
rack up a high score:
*Glowing Hammer - Getting this will give you invincibility for a short time.
Anyone that you
touch will perish, and you'll get 800 points for each enemy
you take down
                 while you are invincible.
*Yellow Barrel - Run into this, and it will roll, taking down any enemy in its
path!

There is a TIME LIMIT; this is shown by the moon crossing the screen. For the
first half
of a stage (from the beginning to when you collect the gold bars and see the
map of Japan)
the moon crosses the screen from left to right; you must get to the midpoint
before
it gets to the rightside of the screen. For the second half (from the midpoint
to the endpoint),
the moon moves from the right to the left. It's pretty hard not to make it in
time, but if you
don't, your game is over. If you have some time left by the time you reach the
midpoint/
endpoint, the remaining time will be converted into time bonus points (which is
added to
your score).

There are two way that you can be attacked by an enemy:
*Strangle - If you let an enemy touch you, he will begin to choke you. Your
face will turn
purple, and if you wait too long to shake out of it (just wiggle
the joystick until             you're free) you will lose a life.
*Projectile - If an enemy throws something, and it hits you, you lose a life.

If you die, but you have more lives left and you come back, you enemies will be
laughing at you.
You can use this limited time to eliminate them and get some extra points!

Hazards - The only real hazard is water. There are usually boats which cover
the water and
allow you to walk over the water, there are some spaces which leaves open
water. You can tell
when it is dangerous because there will be a stop sign with a "!" mark on it.
If you fall in
the water, you will lose a life.

Bosses - There is a boss at the end of each of the 4 stages. You can tell that
you have reached
a boss because the platforms that you are walking on are red, and the music
changes to a
tribal-like tune. YOU CAN ONLY BEAT THEM USING PROJECTILES. You can pass them
by without
attacking; when you reach the end and you see platforms which are not red, they
will disappear. Unfortunately, you will not get the points usually (1600
points). YOU STILL HAVE TO DEFEAT THE BOSS WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT, so if you
find that you do not have enough time to get to the end and defeat the boss,
forget about the boss!

When you beat the game, it will start over from the beginning, just at a higher
difficulty level.
Higher difficulty means more enemies and more projectile throwing enemies.

3. Walkthrough

*Stage 1
Watch out for Yellow ninja at the top of the screen near the midpoint. He's too
high to hit,
you just avoid the knives that he throws. Watch out for the Surfer ninjas after
the midpoint.
You might be able to hit him with a projectile from far away and jump to the
next level before
the wave gets to you, but it's unlikely. Just stay on the top platforms to be
safe.

Boss - Green Demon
He floats around the screen alot, but you should be able to hit him with a
projectile at his
feet to defeat him (this is the only place that you can hit him; if the
projectile hit him
anywhere else, he will unleash his shield and block your attack! Be sure you
dodge his
lighting bolts also.

*Stage 2
Look for your first Glowing Hammer at the beginning of the 2nd housing section.
Be sure you
watch for the half-invisible red ninja in the bamboo section (after the
midpoint). This special
ninja throws stars in 3 different directions.

Boss - 3 Old Ninjas
These guys jump all over the place and throw blue projectiles. This boss is
especially hard to
kill; all three must be dead at the same time. If you kill two, but one is
still alive
(and you don't kill him fast), the other two will come back. It's probably best
just to past
this boss by...

*Stage 3
This is the first time that ninjas appear in large numbers. After the midpoint,
things get
alot tougher; another half-invisible red ninja appears, and the stick-carrying
guards start
to throw ryo!

Boss - Super Green Demon
He acts the same way as the Green Demon from the first stage, except he's
faster and his
lightning bolt attack is faster. He also disappears and reappears at different
places on the screen. Yes, he still has the shield, so aim a projectile at his
feet to defeat him.

*Stage 4 (Final Stage!)
This stage has alot of different ninjas that throw alot of stars. They even
have another tactic in which they hang from platforms (this makes them hard to
attack) and throw bombs.
After the midpoint, watch out for more water hazards and half-invisible red
ninjas.

Final Boss - Glowing Statues
They first set of Glowing Statues are gold; they throw gold projectiles and you
must defeat
them like the Green Demon bosses of the 1st and 3rd stages (this boss has
shields also).
After destroying a couple of gold Glowing Statues, a red Glowing Statue will
appear. He
attacks the same way as the gold Glowing Statues and can be defeat in the same
way you defeated
the gold Glowing Statues.

After you defeat the boss, continue on to the end of the stage and grab the
Golden Lamp at the
top of the castle to beat the game!
The game will start you back from the beginning, except this time it will be at
a higher
difficulty...
