* 2.2 Chip Damage *
*******************

 When your character is unarmed, you will suffer chip damage from certain
attacks.  Ziria, Kinu, and Yagumo do not take chip damage in such cases as
they all lack an unarmed stance/movelist.  Whether armed or not, all
characters will take chip damage when air blocking weapon attacks that
involve the weapon.  Take note that Manto Ace does not deal chip damage, while
the other bosses (Karakuri, Jyashinsai, and Lucifeller) deal chip damage to
either armed or unarmed opponents with their normals. Below is a list of
attacks from the main cast of characters that will cause chip damage to an
unarmed opponent.

Gokuraku   MP far / d + MP / HP close / HP far / d + HP / HP in air / P+K /

Kinu       None, however her MK / d + MK / K in air deal chip damage to either
          armed or unarmed opponents

* 2.3 Items *
*************

 Items can appear on the stage in two ways.  One is by being dropped into
the battle field from the sky.  Items are dropped by a being called the "Karasu
Tengu."  You can strike the Karasu Tengu while it is holding the item box and
it will drop the item early. The other way an item can appear is randomly
when an opponent is knocked to the floor.  Although an item will be on the
playing field, it is possible to destroy it before anyone is able to walk over
it and claim the result of the item (either intentionally or unintentionally).
To destroy an item, use any ducking attack that strikes the item.  Not all
ducking attacks will connect with the item.  Some ducking attacks will pass
over the intended target, so make sure you are using something that hits low
enough to destroy the item all together.  Note that the Karasu Tengu will drop
all items except the Purple Bottle and Banana Peal.  The following is a list of
items and their results when walking over them:
