1: Updates
Version 0.1
First version
2: About Geostorm
Geostorm is the Japanese Version of Gunforce 2, which is the sequel
of Gunforce-Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island. The story plot is like
Contra style. Protect the planets from alien invaders.
3: Controls
The joystick moves the players Left, Right, Look up, and down in 8
directions. There are only two buttons, Fire, and Jump.
4: Players
Basically Player 1 is a Guy, and Player 2 is a Girl. No difference,
they can all do the same things. I like to use the girl because she is
cute. E-mail me if you would like to ask why.
5: Weapons/Powerups/Item
Twin Assault Rifle: Is the players beginning weapon. Infinite Ammo.
One rifle is automatic and the other is manual. Your most trusted
weapon in the game. You'll use these a lot.
Special Weapons: These weapons are hidden in Barrels and boxes. They
will not disappear at all. If you die, it will be dropped and remain
there for you to pick up again.
Laser: Universal Standard Weapon. I don't think there is an arcade
shoot'em up game without a Laser. Fires a beam out. Holding the fire
button will keep the Laser out. Very good weapon, can defeat most
enemies.
Flame: Hot stuff! Fires a stream of fire that burns through most
enemies. Same as the Laser can stay out as long the button is being
held. Most Common Weapon found in the game.
Spread: Most powerful weapon. Fires a rocket that travels half screen,
then split into two-piece and explode. Useful for taking out bosses and
armored vehicles. Hard to find, so use it wisely.
Powerups: These can be found just like the weapons. They will
increase your current weapon's power by increasing range, amount of
ammo fires, coverage and strength.
Power: Add 100 ammo to your current weapon, plus increasing the power
of your weapon. Below is the effect of each weapon when combined with
Power.
Twin Assault Rifle: The auto rifle will fire four bullets in each
burst.
Laser: It will reach the entire screen.
Flame: Travels twice as long as normal.
Spread: Additional explosion, twice as powerful.
Boost SP: Add 700 ammo to your current weapon, plus fully power up the
weapons. The 700 hundred ammo will continue to run down to zero, then
you're be back using the Assault Rifle. In the meantime, it also
function as infinite ammo. So keep firing before the countdown goes
out. Below is the effect of the weapon when fully powered.
Twin Assault Rifle; The auto rifle unloads huge amount of bullets,
while the manual rifle acts as the auto rifle.
Laser: Spins in a circle that can hit everything.
Flame: Goes almost the entire screen.
Spread: Explosion goes longer, and fires 3-way.
Bullets: Add 50 ammo to your current weapon.
Item: These are item that is optional to you. Some are found by
destroying enemies; some are in barrels and boxes.
Medals: Can be taken for points, and also promote you to the next
rank if you have enough of them at the end of the level.
Bonus: Add 1000 points to your score.
4: Vehicles
There are tons of vehicle in this game, and there are describe in
types.
Robots: These are a basic robot that walks on the ground. Button A:
Fires weapon, Button B: Jump. Their armors are strong to withstand most
attack. Can eject by holding down and press jump. They come in four
different types of weapons.
Weapon 1: Launches a satellite up and fires a spread of bullets
downward, then crashes to the ground. The satellite can be moved by
using the joystick. The satellite itself can destroy enemies when it
crashes into them. Only found in Mission 1.
Weapon 2: Fires a stream of purple bullets forward. Can be auto fired
by holding fire button. The bullets have Homing capability. But the gun
has to move close to the enemy. A battery is locked behind (I thought
it was some kind of bomb, But it's just the magazine for the weapon),
after firing the gun for a while, the battery flashes and ejects out
and blows up after a distance and is being replaced by a new battery.
While replacing the battery, you cannot fire at all until the battery
is in place. Only found in Mission 1, randomly switches with Weapon 1.
Weapon 3: Launches several missiles to the direction your facing. The
missiles are very powerful if all hit. Reloading rate is quick too,
which can save you in a firefight. Best to hit target above you. Only
found in Mission 4.
Weapon 4: Fires rapid shells that dose good damage. Has the strongest
armor of all four types of robots. The enemy's one can defect some of
your rifle shots, making it difficult to destroy. Also, the enemy fires
three times faster that yours. Only found in Final Mission.
Armor Suit: These looks like the Mobile Suit in the Gundam Wing
series. Button A: Fires weapon, Button B: N/A (the suit has a jetpack
on it, so it can fly rather than jump). The suits have a Gatelling that
can be fired extremely quick. Also it has an Electric Cannon that will
turn into two sparks and go up and down if fired on the rope. Armor
level is low, can be destroyed rather quickly. Only found in Mission 3.
Tanks: Heavily armored and armed vehicle. Button A: Fires weapon,
Button B: Eject Vehicle. It comes in two types of Tanks.
Anti-Air Gun Tank: Fires narrow shells. Can be fires in all direction
except downward. Powerful gun can make short work on enemies and
bosses. Heavy armor can withstand repeated bomb drop and heavy machine
gun fire. Found in Mission 1 and 2. In Mission 2, I believe the tank is
bigger and stronger in armor level than the one in Mission 1.
Combat Tank: Very large tank. Has the strongest armor in the game.
Fires a burst of explosion that is the same as the Spread Weapon,
except stronger and shorter range. Only found in Mission 4.
Hovercraft: Just like the Armor suit. Button A: Fires weapon, Button
B: Eject Vehicle. Can shoot all direction except straight up and down.
Fire the same ammo as the Anti-Air Gun Tank. Same as the Armor Suit, it
has weak armor.
Armor Car: A car with a machine gun turret on the back. If there is
one player, you can either sit on the machine gun and fire, or sit in
the driver seat and drive the car while firing the machine gun. If
there are two players, one can drive, while the other one fire. Bewared
that the player sitting on the machine gun is unprotected from enemy
fires. Found in Mission 2 and 4.
Cable Car: It looks like a shopping basket with a machine gun in it,
lock onto the cable. It has the weakest armor in the game. Will only go
where the cable lead. FYI if the cable ends, your have to get off.
Found only in Mission 4.
Helicopter: you can't ride it, but you can hang on the cable and the
bottom of it. Found only in Mission 2 when fighting the boss.
Motorcycle: You ride it downhill, and your Twin Assault Rifle turn
into one rifle that fires twin auto shot. Found only in Mission 3 when
fighting the boss. Keep in mind that the motorcycle can't be shot, but
the rider can!
7: Bosses
Stage 1: Armed Cruiser
Before you reach the boss. There should be an Anti-Air Gun Tank. Jump
in and move to the head of the train. On the head of the train there is
a rigged machine gun to use. Then the Armed Cruiser will come from
behind then to your front. It will start off with a barrage of heavy
machine gun fire. Stay in your tank and keep firing. Note: If it fires
a second time, it will blow off the machine gun on top of the train.
Next it will use random attack and so on. The higher arm will fire a
stream of flame either high or low. The lower arm will fire small
homing missiles. The hatch in the center will open from time to time,
dropping several bombs onto the ground and will bounce toward the left
side of the screen with different height. Switch from the tank to the
machine gun depending on the situation. After enough damage, the pilot
hatches will open and the pilot will stand up and will throw a missile
at you. Sometimes after a few missiles, the Armed Cruiser will crash
the front of the train. Just a few more shot will destroy the boss.
Note: there is a bar on the cruiser that you can hang onto. It can save
you from many attacks, but watch out for the homing missiles.
If you accidentally jumped off the train, you can jump back on before
you go off the screen. In fact, it can be useful on avoiding the
missile that the pilot throws.
Stage 2: Attack Dome
Before you reach the boss, you can hang on the helicopter or stay in
the Armor car's machine gun. I prefer staying on the machine gun. The
dome has a hatch that will open and a soldier with a bazooka will come
out and fire a bazooka out. In the meantime, a laser ring will be
generated with a hole in it. If you stayed on the machine gun all the
time, the ring will not hurt you at all. But jump out and move under
the dome when the ring moves toward the left. Then jump back to the
machine gun and repeat the process until it's destroyed.
Stage 3: Cyber Caterpillar
Your only weapon here is the auto rifle. The caterpillar will come
from the top. Keep in mind that you'll die if you touch it. Use the two
levels to your advantage. If the boss flies to the top, it will launch
several eggs to the ground, which will charge up and fires lighting
that will cover both level, and will star to move to the left side.
Position yourself to the right of the screen and destroy the egg near
you. The caterpillar will also shoot out a string to snatch you. If it
succeeds, you die. Keep a steady fire, and the boss will be gone in a
second.
Stage 4: Cyber T-Rex
Try to have a weapon other than the Assault Rifle or the Flame. It
just means an easy time. When the T-Rex comes out, position yourself
near the claws and star shooting. When you hear the T-Rex growl, jump
to avoid the claw grab or it's a hard bite on the head. Meanwhile, the
boss will spit out three balls that will blow up into a beam straight
up. After enough damage, the boss will move closer, it will use the
claws more often, so work on those jumps. Occasionally it will open its
mouth and fire short electricity out. Stay away from the mouth and keep
blasting until the Cyber T-Rex fall to pieces.
Stage 5: Final Creation
This is the last boss and it very easy. Hopefully your finger is
ready for some serious tapping. You're be inside a Missile Silo, (well
the background shows a missile ready to launch) then the boss will show
up, but you will not be able to damage it yet. It will fly up and
disappear, then suddenly crash down with an Energy Punch. Its time to
tap the fire button like crazy. It will repeat the punch two more time
depending on your position while two balls position itself on the left
and right side of the screen blowing out flame. Then the boss will
reveal a skeleton face and blow out flame slowly in a circle. The trick
here is to stay at the right side of the screen and move to the left 2
second before the flame comes out. Climb up one level, jump and grab
the ledge and jump to the right, then you've successfully dodged the
flame. Then the boss will keep repeating all the attack that it had
done. Keep tapping fire and it will go down. It will grab the left side
and slam one of the parts to pieces. You can die if the pieces slam
you, but you can keep shooting it for points. Then it will fall down,
and you'll see the missile explode. Then the boss will emerge from
below and tries to hang on keep shooting him for points. You don't have
to, but it's worth it. Congratulation, you have slam the boss into the
exploding missile, got out of the silo, and save the world from Alien
Invasion, or did you?
8: Misc
The game is endless; I hope you won't waste too much money on it!
I have found two glitches in the game. Do it if you get bored. On
stage 3 before moving into the tunnel for the motorcycle, there are 3
hostages. To their left is a pit, and above it are 3 lines. The trick
here is to rescue all 3 hostages, then climb to the top lines and
position yourself above the pit. Make sure you jump into the air as
long as possible. Then you are suppose to move into the tunnel, but you
are on the line, so you will fall into the pit and then the music will
start to decrease until you hear silence. Pretty weird and funny.
I don't know how I did this one, I'll have to try to figure it out.
On the last level, when you move down the lift. The right part will
break, and the right side will be blocked by concrete. For some reason,
I got stuck in the concrete and the screen stopped. I could only see my
foot and the gunfire. Now that's hilarious.
I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not. During Mission 2 part 1 and
2, and Mission 3 part 1, there is a two second limit. It no problem on
Mission 2 part one, just destroy everyone and the hovercraft and the
time will reset. But for the rest, the time just won't reset, and it's
an instance death!
9: Strategies and Tips
For those of you who played the Metal Slug series, Geostorm uses the
same strategies, so look up a metal slug FAQ and find some tips. But my
tips is always this:
1: Always Share if there is more that one player, this can mean
between the life and death of both players.
2: Corporation will always help.
3: Learn and memorize enemies fire pattern and position can save you
big time.
