1.Version Update
V 1.0 11/20/04
Started working on the FAQ, finished basic design.
V 1.10 11/26/04
Added character profiles. I haven't figured out how to perform the specials for
the character. More on the next update.
V 1.20 11/30/04
Finally found out the right way to perform the specials, I played the game for
two days to figure it out.
Added the move list for all character.
V 1.25 12/1/04
Added a new special I found for Girulian and Tulks. I wonder how many specials
are there in total.

Added information on the POW system.
2. Introduction
Guardian/Denjin Makai II is a standard beat-'em-up very similar to Final Fight.
Some major differences are as follows:
- Introduction to the POW bar system.
- A wide array of special attack.
- Includes a super desperation attack.
- More Characters
Also the word Denjin means "The God Of Electricity".
Makai is a character's name in its pre-sequel - directly translated as 'Devil's
Puppet'
3. Controls
The controls to Guardian are pretty standard to any other beat-'em-up game out
there. It's as follow:
Joystick: Moves the character
A: Attack. Pressing it several time allows your character to do a combo, the
last hit is always a knockdown.
The type of combo executed depends on the direction the player is holding.
Hold A: Block. This is a move that it's usually not present in beat-em up games.
By blocking, you can neglect damage done by certain attacks, and also have the
abilities to counterattack by pressing A.
Note that certain attacks such as grenades, drills, bullets, and flamethrowers
can't be blocks, so don't even try it.
Another reason to use block is to execute your characters specials by holding
A, then press a certain direction.
Eg. Left, right. Also, all specials executed by direction cost 2 bars of POW.
B: Jump. It's pretty self-explanatory. But different characters have different
jumps.
For example, Zeldia can hover in the air by holding B, and Girulian can slow
his descent by holding B.
C: Special. Your character uses their personal sidearm which would do moderate
amount of damage.
Eg. Zeldia would use her automatic pistol. This would consume 4 bars of POW.
A+B: Escape Attack. Your character will do a special attack that knocks down
all enemies around him/her.
This attack uses 2 bars of POW.
A+C: Super Desperation Attack. Your character will do a very flashy special
attack that knocks down all enemies.
This attack is very powerful and will do huge amount of damage.
However, it will use 4 bars of your life instead of POW, so don't use it too
many time.
POW System
The POW system is composed of 10 bars. Every time a special attack is used, an
amount of POW is deducted.
When your character is standing still for a few seconds, he/she will begin
charging the POW bar.
At first, the charging speed is slow, but after a few seconds it began to speed
up.
If there are insufficient POW or empty when specials is performed, 2 bars of
life are used to replenish the bar completely.
This is called "Over Charge".
4. Characters
There are a total of 8 characters to select. Each has its own set of special,
strength and weaknesses.
You will walk the path to victory if you control each character well.
Zeldia- The Heroine
Being the heroine of the game, she also happens to be my favorite in both
appearance and fighting technique.
She is a very balanced character in terms of speed, strength, and charging rate.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left hook, right thrust, left uppercut, finishes with a roundhouse
kick.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left hook, right thrust, spinning backhand, finishes with a forward
thrust.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left hook, right thrust, roundhouse kick, finishes by spin-kicking on
the ground with one hand
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left hook, right thrust, finishes with twin thrust.
Specials
Hold B
Zeldia jumps into the air, she then hovers high above the ground with the help
of her wings.
This last for about 5 seconds before she falls to the ground.
If the B button is released during the hovering time, she will back flip in
midair, then glide forward towards the ground.
Note that you are vulnerable to attacks while gliding.
Press A during the gliding process allows her to extend one of her talons
forward, hitting enemies as she goes along.
This uses 1 bar of POW.
Press C
Zeldina pull out an automatic pistol and fires around 20 shots. She aims
forward, above her and below her.
Hold A, press left to right
Zeldia spins like a cyclone with her talon extended, she will slowly rise up
into the air.
Pressing A when she's in the air will allow her to finish the move with a kick.
Hold A, press down to up
Zeldia does an uppercut, only with wings.
Grab, then press A+B
Zeldia takes her opponent up, then comes crashing down with him/her and drills
her opponent as they are on the ground.
In air, press A+B
Zeldia dives diagonally with both of her talons extended.
Desperation
A+B
Zeldia does a 360 with a wave around her.
A+C
Zeldia jumps in the air, she then closes her wings for a second,
then open them and fires a circle of golden feathers and light rays.
Jinrei- The Ninja
Jinrei possess the speed attribute of a ninja. While his may not be as strong,
his fighting technique is unmatched.
Combining great speed and superb technique, Jinrei can get through a crowd of
enemies virtually untouched.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Left palm strike, right palm strike, right high kick, finishes with a jumping
high kick.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Left palm strike, right palm strike, dashing forward elbow, finishes with a
right reverse kick.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Left palm strike, right palm strike, jumping sword uppercut, finishes with a
even higher sword uppercut.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Left palm strike, right palm strike, finishes with a sword slash.
Specials
Jump on a wall, then press the opposite direction and press B
Jinrei does the infamous "Triangle Jump". He is one of the two characters who
can do this.
It's a great move to get out of corners when trapped, and can also be used to
stage a counterattack.
Press C
Jinrei throws out several Shrunken forward.
Hold A, press left to right
Jinrei does the same cyclone spin as Zeldia. The only differences is his is
must faster and doesn't rise up in the air.
Hold A, press down to up
Jinrei does a slash uppercut with his sword, then does another slash uppercut.
Grab, then press A+B
Jinrei does a low kick that sends the opponent into the air, then jumps to meet
the and punche it back to the ground.
He then finishes by landing his sword on top of the enemy.
Desperation
A+B
Jinrei does a 360 with his sword encased in flame.
A+C
Jinrei draws a circle with his sword, then he stabs the sword into the ground,
creating a pillar of flame that surrounds him.
Girulian- The Hero
As the hero of the game, Girulian is evenly matched to Zeldia.
Focusing more on power, this slightly balanced young warrior can hold out
against a big crowd with little difficulty.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left kick, left back kick, finishes with a roundhouse kick.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left kick, right kick, finishes with a left high kick.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left kick, short right kick, finishes by right kicking high then
slowly bring the kick down.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Left jab, left kick, finishes with a roundhouse kick.
Specials
Hold B
Girulian does a normal jump. The strange thing is that if you hold down the
jump button, his descent is slowed down.
This is very noticeable when you move left and right. A useful move that can
get you out of a corner and fight back.
Press C
Girulian fires an eye-laser that sweeps the ground in front of him.
Hold A, press left to right
Girulian does a rising knee encased in fire, and then does two more kicks also
with fire.
Hold A, press down to up
Girulian's hand lights up at he jumps in the air and launches a fireball.
In air, press A+B
Girulian drill kicks diagonally. If you press back to forward+A after he
touches the ground, he will kick the opponent up.
Desperation
A+B
Girulian jumps into air while doing a fiery uppercut.
A+C
Girulian's hands ignite as he throws the two flames into the sky, then bends
down as a firestorm comes down.
Kurokishi- The Biker Gal
If you think Zeldia is cute looking, wait till you see Kurokishi.
This hot-looking Gal is got a load of pain to deliver to an enemy that's on the
receiving end.
Do not judge her by her appearance, her fighting style is deadly and they hurt!
She has slightly more power and speed than Zeldia. When she is on the field,
everybody is going to get a load of pain.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Left kick, left high kick, right reverse kick, finishes with a diagonal jump
kick.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Left kick, left high kick, forward kick, finishes with a right reverse kick.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Left kick, left high kick, forward thrust kick, finishes with a flash kick.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Left kick, left high kick, finishes with a backward reverse kick.
Specials
Press C
Kurokishi pulls out a pistol and fires a blade of rainbow energy.
Any enemy hit with the beam will freeze for a few seconds.
Hold A, press left to right
Kurokishi does a somersault and kicks into the air.
Hold A, press down to up
Kurokishi dashes forward with her hand lit in bright energy.
Desperation
A+B
Kurokishi jumps into the air and does a hurricane kick.
A+C
Kurokishi throws a shiny dust particle into the air, and a pillar of golden
dust surrounds her.
Rou- The Martial-Art Master
This powerful master skilled in the deadly martial art is to be taken seriously.
You can feel the power as each hits knocks the incoming enemy and send him/her
flying away.
Alone on the field, the enemies won't even see the fast attacks before crashing
to the ground.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Left punch, right hook, left slap, finishes with a heavy palm strike.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Left punch, right hook, forward palm strike, finishes with an elbow strike.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Left punch, right hook, high kick, finishes with a jumping roundhouse kick.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Left punch, right hook, finishes with a shoulder charge.
Specials
Press C
Rou sends out four spirit wards that tracks and home in on the nearest enemy,
immobilizing the enemy as it touches them.
Hold A, press left to right
Rou launches a spear on a chain forward.
If it hits an opponent, he lets out a surge of electricity into the chain.
Hold A, press down to up
Rou holds a pair of short knives and does an uppercut with them.
Desperation
A+B
Rou does a 360 with some kind of cloth covered in electricity.
A+C
Rou takes out two stones and put them together, creating a massive surge of
electrical energy forward.
Skullbyule- The Devil
If I were to judge him by first impression, I would say he is the closest thing
resembling Death.
This power-packing alien will make the enemy freak just by looking,
and his array of lethal attacks will wipe them out of existence.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Tongue strike, left thrust, right uppercut, finishes with a shoulder blade
slash.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Tongue strike, left thrust, left uppercut slash, finishes with a extending
right arm.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Tongue strike, left thrust, slash lift, finishes with an twin air kick.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Tongue strike, left thrust, finishes with a tail slap.
Specials
Press C
Skullbyule open his claws, and several stinger missiles rushes out and home in
on the nearest enemy.
Hold A, press left to right
Skullbyule slashes with a sharp-end of his claws.
Hold A, press down to up
Skullbyule ducks down and several sharp spikes comes out from his back.
Desperation
A+B
Skullbyule does a power-up pose, and explosion appears around him.
A+C
Skullbyule opens up his chest, and fires a beam of fire forward.
Tulks- The Powerhouse
Now we're talking muscle man here, Final Fight style.
However, Tulks is way more powerful than Haggar with his array of powerful
moves.
When he's on the field, there are going to be lots of broken necks, and bodies
crushed to bits.
Combos
Standing A,A,A,A,A
Left chop, left elbow, right punch, finishes with a heavy forward kick.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Left chop, left elbow, right forward kick, finishes with a jumping reverse kick.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Left chop, left elbow, backhand, finishes with a spining reverse jump kick.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Left chop, left elbow, finishes with a twin fist smash.
Specials
Press C
Tulks pulls out a pistol and fires three shots of what it appears to be
short-ranged shotgun blast.
Hold A, press left to right
Tulks does a jump kick and sends a flaming fireball forward.
Forward, down, forward, A
Tulks does the same move above, except it a lighting ball.
If your timing is good, you can use one of the move and pull out the other one
to do some nice damage.
Hold A, press down to up
Tulks does a somersault forward in midair.
If an enemy is caught by this move, he catches the enemy with his legs flips
into the air and land on the enemy.
Very powerful attack, useful to take down bosses quickly.
Desperation
A+B
Tulks raises both of his hand and wave them in a circle, creating two energy
slashes that knock down enemies around him.
A+C
Tulks lights up one of his fist, then he jumps up and strike the ground,
causing a shockwave that covers the entire screen.
P.Belva- The Ultra Machine
Normally, powerful characters trade their power at the expenses of speed.
However, this is not the case for P.Belva.
This powerful, yet agile ultra fighting machine can almost be considered to be
the perfect character.
He can combine with anyone and turn it into a kick-ass team.

Standing A,A,A,A,A
Right punch, left punch, right uppercut, finishes with a left straight punch.
Hold Right, A,A,A,A,A
Right punch, left punch, right dash punch, finishes with a jumping knee spike.
Hold Up, A,A,A,A,A
Right punch, left punch, left overhead smash, finishes with a booster uppercut.
Hold Down, A,A,A,A,A
Right punch, left punch, finishes with a downward punch.
Specials
Press C
P.Belva opens up one of his arms, and a rapid-fire machinegun began to fire.
Hold down C to continue firing, but watch your POW gauge.
Unlike Zeldia, he can manually aim the gunfire above, below and in front of him.
Hold A, press left to right
P.Belva does multiple punches at lighting speed, and then finishes with an
uppercut.
Hold A, press down to up
P.Belva revs up his engine and jumps into the air with one of his knee spike
extended, then with his other one.
If you hold Down after the second hit, he will do an overhead smash that sends
the opponent down to the ground.
Desperation
A+B
P.Belva does several 360's with both of his fists.
A+C
P.Belva call forth a shoulder-mounted cannon and fires a giant laser beam
forward.
5. Future Plan
In the future I am planning to do the following:
- An Enemy/Boss FAQ containing all the enemies and bosses in the game and their
attacks.
- A complete walkthrough of the game
