Good day fellow adventurer :) I see you've stumbled upon my little
solve for this very difficult, yet fun little Hack n Slash Adventure
cooked up by Konami. Now, though some will realize that this was
also released as Devil World, this Guide and solve is specifically
for this version, as there are some big differences [namely, where
portals take you, weapons.. etc.]

With this, I hope to walk you along the quick and hasty path to
annihalating the game, without having to wander through endless
doors of doom... and possibly get stuck too. By stuck, I mean
this... you require keys to open the doors to the next area...
and sometimes the game gets VERY evil and will give have NO key for
a certain area... and if you have no keys either.. you're screwed.
[So there's a lesson to be learned :) Max out keys asap]

But enough of this meager beginning, on to the good stuff that
is more relevant and important :)

I. Characters
-------------

Dark Adventure is a 3 Player Simultaneous game.. kinda like Gauntlet,
for an example of the top of my head. Each character has a different
starting weapon that you use to fend off the beasties, until you find
better weapons.

The Left player is Labrynna, a rather cute Blonde in a Pink dress.
She wields a sword and with some decent speed to it as well.

The Middle player is Condor, the nearly stereotypical Indiana Jones
man, with fedora and whip, but a White shirt and Blue jeans.

The Right player takes control of Zorlock, laid back Business man
who's a killer with the spear.

Alright... it's not like there was much to research on in regards to
the characters...   Your reporter, archeologist and businessman.. but
you came for a solve.. not an elaborate book ^^;;

II. The Buttons
---------------

Start - This'd be what ya press to start your game ;) It also works
as a handy map option! It will show you exits [E] and where
any remaining keys are. [It will NOT show you hidden exits
and it won't work on EVERY stage]

The other 3, Attack, Jump and Dynamite.. well they're self-
explanatory.

III. Items & Weapons
--------------------

Now we're getting somewhere! What are the items and weapons you can
collect on this adventure? Welllll.......

Keys - The MOST IMPORTANT item in the game. Stock them to the max...
believe me... you will regret it if you run out.

Food - It comes in the form of a can of Pop giving you much needed
Life. Believe me.. you will need A LOT if you're going to
      survive.

Necklace - You see one of those beauties laying around? GRAB IT! This
is your key to some seriously needed speed! Faster speed
means quicker escapes from levels and overwhelming enemies.

Shield - Pick up one of these well crafted protectors and you will
find some much needed relief from the enemies attacks.

Crystal Ball - Your base weapon not packing enough oomph? Pick up a
Crystal Ball and you will enjoy some added power to it
              :)

Dynamite - When you crave some wanton destruction :) One Stick'll do ya
until you die. Just start throwing like mad and enjoy things
going Kaboom!!! Also useful for hurtling over those annoying
          walls :)

Flame Thrower - BBQ TIME! Watch the flame shoot out... roast every enemy
caught in its path... and huts too! Right through those
annoying walls :) The only downside is that this is a
               bit slow on the reload...

Laser Gun - My PERSONAL FAVOURITE weapon of mass destruction! It's fast!
Hold down the fire button and it keeps shooting! Fire fast
for more oomph... but!! The one catch is.. it can't go
through walls [Unless you push against it and fire, and even
then it will only kill something just behind that, no
further]. Good for mowing down enemies galore in lightning
           speed.

Sword - In a 2 Player Game if Labrynna loses all her lives, her sword
will remain for any other player to pick up. In a 1 player game,
if you lose all your lives as Labrynna and continue, you can
pick up the left over sword.

Whip - In a 2 Player Game if Condor loses all his lives, his whip will
remain for any other player to pick up. In a 1 player game,
if you lose all your lives as Condor and continue, you can pick
      up the left over whip.

Spear - In a 2 Player Game if Zorlock loses all his lives, his spear
will remain for any other player to pick up. In a 1 player game,
if you lose all your lives as Zorlock and continue, you can
pick up the left over spear.

IV. Monsters & Other Things
---------------------------

Enemy - Well, self explanatory.. from minotaurs and rats, to flying
weapons and even the Devil itself... they're everywhere :)

Enemy Huts - These will ALWAYS take 2 hits to destroy with a base
weapon or 1 with a super weapon or dynamite.

Dark Grey Rocks - These can be attacked to unveil either nothing, new
weapons, food or even keys! Also look for small
cubes that look out of place. They usually can be
whacked down as well. Dynamite will help rapidly
destroy these as well as your super weapons.

V. Anything Else?
-----------------

Well... I am hoping to screen capture maps and compile some from screen
shots... but that will be later... and I will update this guide with
their location.

Keep stocking those keys... yes.. third time I mention it.. but believe
me.. it's that important!

Make a beeline for food WHENEVER you need it.. believe me.. if you don't
find a speed up necklace.. you're gonna need it badly!

The game RANDOMLY places items around.. but it's not THAT random!
Monster huts will ALWAYS be the same, no matter what.. but.. there's about
Five different random cycles. Each cycle will have the items appear in the
same spot for the entire game duration. When you start a brand new game,
the game will randomly choose a cycle again. This is a big boon! If you
follow my guide and you manage to luck out and find a Laser Gun in the
Second stage... you will find the game A LOT easier!

The right cycle can make ALL the difference in how well you do... there
are literally points where the right cycle will give you a crapload of
food RIGHT WHEN YOU NEED IT!

This game is also known as Devil World.. but that game has A LOT of
differences.. including only being 2 Players and the exits take you to
different places...

But I digress... let's get on to giving this game an asswhoopin' :)

VI. The Solution - The Current Fastest Route to Glory
-----------------------------------------------------

Mercedia
--------

No matter what cycle the game randomly chooses, this is where you will
always begin a new game here. You're main goal will to whoop some rear,
walk around a bit and get familiar with the monsters. Becareful around
the trees, as they will morph into HUGE Red monsters with swords! They
take quite a few hits before they will bow down, and their swords do
some serious damage. They also tend to go through EVERYTHING [including
walls that you can't], so please take care.

Grab some keys [3 should work] and move your way to the exit in the
Upper Right corner to proceed to the next area.

Zoastra
-------

Right off the bat, try to conserve some health and ignore the monster
huts and go Right. You will cross the first bridge, to which you may
have to jump over some gaps if any pop up that are more then 1 slot
big. If you manage to luck out, you'll find a Laser Gun and will be
able to wreak some MAJOR Havoc upon the enemies ^^ Anyways, continue
on to the Right, going for the lower pathways and working your way
around the walls... becareful of the cliff edges though. Cross the
second bridge and go to the bottom of the screen. You'll come across
2 Monster huts. The farthest Right hut will contain a secret door!
You will definitely want to take advantage of this and go on
through to the next area of the game.

Gotham
------

I won't make any Batman jokes.. too easy... much like this area.
Go up and to the Right, collecting keys where you can, and trying to
work your way to the Upper-Left area of the map and the next exit.
Becareful of those annoying rats.

Joplin
------

This area is full of rocks galore.. the downside? Not every one of
them has anything useful... heck.. most of them don't! Destroy the
enemies as you wander about and pick up some much needed keys,
and the odd can of Pop. Work your way to the far Right of the map
and jump on in the door.

Zartacla
--------

Thought that was rocky? Well welcome to the Rocky Mountains of the
game. Go to the middle of the map and you will find Five enemy huts
all grouped together. Take down the one in the middle to find the
hidden entrance that will take you to the next area, Metropolis.

Metropolis
----------

This is one of the first areas you will come across that will not
let you see a map... which sucks... but this guide will fix that
problem. When you enter the area, head off to the... well yeah,
no surprise.. the Right. But here's the catch! When you have the
chance to move up, go for it and go through the archway and keep
pushing it. You will end up coming to a set of double doors. Enter
and prepare to cry.

Olmecs
------

Why did I say cry? This isn't the boss area yet... but.. it is
one of the most single annoying areas of the game. If you don't
move and groove properly.. you will definitely lose a life, unless
you happen to have a speed power-up. Beware of the annoying bats
that fly around and the flying demon with spears. Go down the
path and head on Left and take the Fifth path. Follow it up and
around and you will come to the exit at last. The other paths
will either be empty or have different powerups and the like,
depending on what cycle the game started at.

Kalamazoo
---------

This is another one of those quick and easy maps to go through.
Quite literally. All you have to do is head Left to the next
exit.... to the bottom is a nasty ACTIVE volcano, so you may
not want to roam, unless you are in desperate need of keys.

Des Plaines
-----------

Avoiding a Fantasy Island spoof, you now stand VERY close to
the end of the game! :) You also stand in one of those annoying
cities that won't let you see a map... and A LOT of doors to
go through. Go to the far Right until you reach the wall. Now
go back to the Left and ignore the First door, but do enter the
second door.

Meso
----

Another one of those places where you can easily lose a life
if you don't luck out. Just simply follow the path where it
leads, and be prepared to make some diagnol jumps near the end.
That area is usually where you can luck out with some powerups
or food. Head on to the end and get ready for the next area.

Garr
----

Welcome to the Lava Room. Watch your step, since those tiles
will sink into the Lava! Here you will most likely find more
keys and almost always find Pop. If you get enough spare keys,
you can go to the first exit, go through, and then go back the
way you came and replenish food and key again. Not a bad idea.
When you're done this, or if you're in good shape, follow the
path to the very end [Upper Right corner] and leap onto the
exit.

Nigriv
------

This is a ... well.. a pain the royal ass to get through.
You enter only to find a crapload of moving blocks going up
and down, any of which will drain you of much needed life!
Your main goal is to reach the Left wall and hack down the
breakable concrete slabs until you find the hidden exit in
the Bottom Left corner of the screen.

Lyons
-----

We're almost near the end. This will be Spider central
as well as introducing one of the most annoying enemies,
the Skeleton. It can come through the walls as it pleases
and it does nasty damage! So becareful! Move to the Upper
Left hand corner and then to the seeming dead end to the
Right, that has a monster hut. This is yet again, ANOTHER
secret entrance, and the most important one! It leads you
to the second last room of the game ^^ AND!! If you REALLY
luck out, you may find a Laser Gun just before you go to
the next room :) You will definitely need 2 keys though..
one for this room and one for the next.

Enid
----

The Boss is A LOT easier then this annoying room of pain
and death! Notice the exit? Now notice all those annoying
monster huts in the way? No problem... until you factor
in the FLYING SWORDS!!! Sure you can swat them away, but
even one hit and you lose a MASSIVE chunk of health! It's
not fun! Tread carefully and you will make it to the last
exit of the game and go to the final room.

Bundra
------

The FINAL room of the game! This is what it has all
culminated up to! Move downwards to avoid the columns as
they fall down. Notice those statues on either side of
you? As you go past them, they turn into annoyingly real
life menaces! 5000 points a kill is a nice bonus.. though
you're going to have to kill them all before the Devil is
willing to go at it with you. Have I mentioned that
they're packing heat? In the form of some very QUICK and
PAINFUL fireballs?

Now, though,  the moment you've been waiting for! You
beat the nasties and the Devil has come out. He's big..
he throws around A TON of those evil energy balls and he
wants you DEAD! But... there lies hope for you.. and
believe me.. you're going to be shocked how quickly he
can fall down. [It took me a minute or so normally to
fell the bastard] Simply try to stay behind him and
attack him from behind and as quickly as you possibly
can. He will succumb to your blows fast and will turn
back into stone and crumble before you. [My personal
best is about 2 seconds after he comes to life.. and
believe me, it's not that hard to duplicate with
practice]

The only down side? As he dies, and as the screen
goes all cumbly and you fade out... your life keeps
going down for a few seconds.. which essentially means..
you can die as you're waiting for him to die...

Ah well... 10,000 more points will be yours ^^

And that's basically it! You've now beaten one of
Konami's most frustratingly challenging games... mind
you... you'd think they'd make a slightly better ending..
It's neat... but kinda.. blah... but that's my own
opinion and yours may differ.

VII. In Conclusion
------------------

Well, that's about it, really. Just beginning to make
maps and such for the game and edit screenshots to
reflect hidden exits and such. I will probably update
this later to add a few minor details, such as points
for certain things. Or if someone finds an even FASTER
route! Otherwise, I hope you have enjoyed this guide
and enjoy the game as well :) Play on Play on :)
