D: (no use)
Hold the A button to charge up your weapon for a homing attack. Once your plane
has gathered enough energy for the homing attack, get in range of your target and
let go A. A single laser will travel to your target. If it hits the target and doesn't
kill it instantly, each time you fire your weapon will send two lasers to the target
plane for a while or until it dies.
Hold C to charge up your bombs. There are 4 levels of bomb blasts. Before beginning
the charging process, a small blast emerges from your plane. It destroys all enemy
shots and inflict relatively weak damage to enemies. Cool!
Two bombs for the price of one. You can release the energy from the blast if you're
overwhelmed by enemy shots, and use the actual effect in another jam for example.
- (blast tip by C-H)
LV. 1: Explosions travel up the screen. Weak. (Useful for eliminating groups of
weak enemies)
LV. 2: A huge blast surrounding your plane. Medium-power. (Useful for killing
stronger groups of enemies especially if they are around you)
LV. 3: Random explosions. Great power. (Useful for killing heavy enemies on screen.
Inflicts considerable damage on bosses and mid-bosses. Takes a while to charge up)
LV. 4: Random explosions. Ultimate damage. (Useful all around. Takes too long to
charge up if fighting fast enemies. Does major damage to bosses)

V. Enemies
------------
Small planes and guns can be killed with a single shot. However, some of the heavier
armored enemies require more than one hit. All enemies are colored due to the level's
environment. So if the level takes place in, say, a desert, the enemies are gold
or tan to match the sand. If it takes place on a glacier or tundra, the enemies
are white to match the snow/ice. You see?
Most enemies must take time to lock on to you while firing. Take advantage
of this by flying in circles around the enemy or sweeping across the bottom of the
screen and killing them assuming that there are no obstructions in your path of
confusion. Beware of enemies that fire their shots wildly of course. Best done with
Sinden's speed, or Lightning's wide shot vulcan. Mosquito might work with his
spreader missiles and power, but I'm worried about his speed. -(confusion tip by
C-H. originally used to confuse subs.)
-Cargo Planes (small red planes)
These planes are slow, travel in chains, and only require a single shot to kill.
The most important aspect of these planes is that they carry weapons. Destroy the
entire chain for them to release the power-up.
-Medal Planes (same as cargo planes only beige)
There are usually 4 of them in a chain led by a single cargo plane. They travel
a little faster than cargo planes. Other than that, these planes are just like cargo
planes. They drop anywhere from 3-5 medals when the chain is killed. They usually
drop 5 medals if you sacrifice one of your bombs to destroy them.
-Small Fighters (small white planes)
They fly in and shoot a single shell. Some will try to kamikaze into you.
-Green Fighters (small green plane)
They either appear separately or in a group led by Blue Leader. If you manage to
wipe the group out in a single hit, you get rewarded with bonus points. Separate
ones fire shells at you.
-Airplane (tan plane)
They shoot a group of 6 shells in a curved/straight line or at you. They can be
shot down easy.
-Twin Airplane (tan plane with two bodies in one)
They are the more powerful versions of the regular airplane. They have the same
attacks as the airplane, and can use anti-aircraft fire. Anti-aircraft fire can
be destroyed by your own shots.
-Camouflaged Fighter (a medium-sized camouflaged plane)
Camouflaged fighters shoot triple-shell salvos at you as well as the five shell
group used by the boss Ayako Special (for more info, see below to Mission 1). Some
can even blanket an area of the screen with bullets.
-Helicopter (yellow, blue helicopters)
They shoot bullets and can fire "fake" missiles. If those missiles are shot, they
turn into spreading shells. A single shot kills.
-Platform Gunship (silver helicopter with platform-looking wings)
Shoots missiles and triple bullet salvos. Continuous attacks will take out lone
ones. Use homing against multiple gunships.
-Hoverplane (orange, round, hovering plane)
This thing fires small shell salvos. It is also a carrier of power-ups. Destroy
them instantly!
-Spreader Blimp (white blimp)
Fires shells in a near 360 degree line. After that, it rockets away.
-Silver Satellite (mission 4 boss only, a silver disc with solar panels)
Shooting it causes it to release medals. It has a lot of health and will eventually
be destroyed even if you don't shoot it. Grantz releases this enemy.
-Golden Satellite (mission 4 boss only, a gold disc with solar panels)
Just like the Silver Satellite but it has more health than it's silver cousin. It
can take twice as much punishment from your shots resulting in it releasing more
medals overall. Grantz releases this enemy.
-Energy Ball Disc (mission 6 boss only, a black disc)
This disc summons energy balls and spins them around it while chasing you. Destroying
it gets you medals. Walking Warrior releases this enemy.
-Hovering Laser Droids (mission 6 boss only, a small, white sphere)
These small metal spheres released by Walking Warrior are extremely fast and fly
around all over the place constantly firing laser beams at you. They are extremely
annoying and a pain in the <bleep> to defeat.
-Laser Disc (mission 6 boss only, a black disc)
This disc shoots lasers in random directions at regular intervals. The Tank Dropper
plane in the second part of mission 6 releases these enemies.
-Para Tank (tan or blue tank with a parachute)
I wouldn't really consider them aircraft, but if they're in the air...
They are basically the same as a small tank (see below) only with a parachute in
the air.
-Small Tank (small blue tank)
Shoots a few shells at you. Nothing that special.
-Long Tank (long gold tank)
Shoots single, really fast shells at you.
-Spreadfire Tank (looks like a small tank with a different cannon)
These tanks fire a single fast moving shell. If hit, it will split into 8 smaller
and slower shells. The shells are deadly if hit at close range and pose a threat
at farther ranges as well.
-Missile Battery (medium tank with many cannons on top, tan)
They shoot a whole mess of missiles toward you. Lucky for you, they can be destroyed.
-Artillery Cannon (a black version of the missile battery)
They shoot a group of spreading shells at you. They can't be destroyed unlike the
missile battery's fire.
-Train (black locomotive engine)
Trains pose no threat whatsoever. They do, however, pull cars and on the cars are
deadly tanks and cannons. Destroy the engine so the cars will cease to move with
you.
-Tank Flatcars (part of a train)
Tanks are placed on the flatcars. They fire shells at you. Shoot the car or the
engine.
-Cannon Car (train part)
A gun is mounted on a car. They fire lasers at you. Shoot the car or the engine.
-Small Ship (mission 2 only, small thin, tan ship)
They shoot single plasma balls at you. Easy to sink. Guns don't shoot if the control
tower is destroyed.
-Warship (mission 2 only, big tan ship)
They shoot single plasma balls at you with faster rate. They can be sunk by destroying
all guns and structure on it. All ships are sunk like that. Guns don't shoot if
the control tower is destroyed. -(control tower tips by C-H)
-Gunboat (mission 2 only, a big boat with guns on it)
This craft shoots shells at you with it's 3 cannons. It is hard to destroy as it
seems to be armored. A combination of homing and regular fire will bring this to
Davy Jones's Locker.
-Submarine (black)
They can't be shot while submerged. When they do come up, they can shoot plasma
balls at you and fire torpedoes.
-Turret (round structure with a single gun)
They fire a few shells at you. Easy to destroy.
-Tower Turret (mission 2 only, a tower with a thin platform on top, guns are on
the platform)
The tower is composed of three parts: the left, middle, and right section. You can
take out each of the sections, but still, the best way is to destroy the mid-section.
-Small Turret (found in missions 2 and 6, small gun with 3 cannons)
They are found on ships. These things can revolve 360 degrees and shoot shells in
groups of 3.
-Large Turret (found in missions 2 and 6, big gun with 3 cannons)
They can also revolve 360 degrees but much slower than the small turret. They can
either shoot one big shell or three big shells at a good rate. Watch out for these.
Use homing to hurt them badly especially if combined with your own fire.
-Laser Turret (mission 4 only, white towers with guns)
They are composed of a single tower with two cannons attached to it. Those two guns
shoot small plasma lasers at you. If you destroy the main tower, the guns go with
it.

VI. Weapons and Power-ups and the Heroes
*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=
For weapons, if you get one and you can't use it anymore, you get 5,000 bonus points
for it. The next one you get and can't use nets you 10,000. For bombs, 3,000 points
if you can't use them. It keeps doubling for every one you can't use. The point
values don't double for bombs though... :(
And here comes our heroes:
Lightning (our favorite main aircraft)
Power: 4/10
Speed: 6/10
Homing: 7/10
Main Weapon: Shells
Comments:
This is the one you want to start out with. It has average speed and okay power.
Lightning's homing ability is one of the best, making short work of powerful enemies
if used. Whoever says that lightning never strikes twice in the same place is sure
right about this. Good stats overall. I recommend this one.
Mosquito (the power packer)
Power: 10/10
Speed: 4/10
Homing: 3/10
Main Weapon: Missiles
Comments:
Mosquito packs a serious punch. It's regular attacks are just as powerful as a volley
of Lightning's homing attacks. Like all powerful characters in video games, it is
slow. Mosquito has two serious flaws: It is the slowest and has the worst homing
ability. However, it has awesome spreader ability with missiles and it might net
you 100% kills and the S rank on bosses. Just get up close and personal on early
bosses with no fast back attacks and fire away.
-(spreader tip by C-H) If you're looking for sheer power, this is for you. And
true to it's name, it can be annoying at times like a mosquito.
Sinden (agile fighter)
Power: 3/10
Speed: 9/10
Homing: 5/10
Main Weapon: Laser
Comments:
Sinden may be the weakest plane out of the three, but it is FAST! This speed can
even outmaneuver a barrage of enemy fire. This is the main advantage of Sinden.
It has a fair homing ability that's similar to Lightning.
-Shells (blue icon)
This is the weapon that which everyone starts out with. It shoots a single small
stream two of bullets at first. After getting this item, those bullets get upgraded
to shells. The stream of shells also get wider by 2. If you're playing as Lightning,
the next one you get will upgrade the stream to a 6 shell width.
-Missiles (red icon)
Missiles are the most powerful weapon. It fires to your left and right diagonally
and also straight forward. Upgraded with Mosquito, the middle barrage of missiles
turn into a volley of red missiles. They pack more power than regular ones.
-Lasers (green icon)
Lasers are weak but they have the ability to travel through enemies. Perfectly useful
for wreaking havoc on chains of enemies or for targets that are previously unreachable
by normal means. Sinden gets twin lasers if it obtains two laser upgrades. Double
the power which it needs. One thing that really kills the laser besides the weak
power is that sometimes, the laser can't uncover secret items.
-Bombs ("B" icon)
Adds another bomb to your stock. Bombs are worth 3,000 points at the end of each
mission for each unused one.
-Medal (small medal)
Worth 300 points. Gets you 300 more bonus points at the end of the mission.
-Golden Cross (a medal with a golden cross)
Worth 500 points. Gets you 500 more bonus points at the end of the mission.
-Medal of Honor (a big round medal)
Worth 1,000 points. Gets you 1,000 more bonus points at the end of the mission.
-Alpha (an astronaut waving at you)
Worth 5,000 points and sets off a bomb. The bomb doesn't come off of yours.
-Star (mission 5 only, small tan star)
This power-up gives you an extra life.

And now, we get to the walkthrough...
===============================================================================
Mission 1: South Pacific
Boss: Ayako Special
Class: Flying Aircraft Carrier
===============================================================================
You'll start out inside a flying aircraft carrier over some islands in the
South Pacific. Two airplanes led by Black Leader will fly up to your carrier and
open fire shooting it down. Before the flying carrier is completely destroyed, it
will release whichever plane you've chosen.
(End cutscene)
After this, there will be three twin planes waiting for you. Destroy them
by homing attack. After that, a chain of red cargo planes will come. Shoot the whole
chain and grab a weapon. After that, make good use of the item and shoot the entire
group of small fighters (they don't fire at you).
Later, there will be more small fighters. Shoot them all. After that, another chain
of cargo planes will show up. Shoot it for another weapon. Then more small fighters
will show up. These will shoot all but a single shell. Dispatch them. After this,
medal planes will fly by. Kill them and get all the medals that appear. After flying
into the clouds, you'll see the shadow of a huge plane above. Tanks will come
parachuting down. Destroy the para tanks. Finally, meet Ayako Special.
-------------
BOSS BATTLE
-------------
Ayako has four attacks. It will shoot five shells at you. The guns on the
plane will shoot a single salvo at you. It can also release two bombs and they can
release anti-aircraft fire if you neglect to destroy them. You can negate them with
your own fire. If it suffers too much damage, Ayako will shoot shells in 180 degrees
on the left side of the screen or the right. All these attacks are easy to dodge.
To destroy Ayako, first shoot the tail so those guns are no more. Ayako always
regenerates the tail guns and the gun in the middle of the plane, but doing this
saves a bit of annoyance. Now, shoot the wings. You might want to go for the inner
part of the wings as they can release enemy fighters. After this, go for the outer
wings. After the wings are destroyed, 3 guns will appear on them. Destroy the guns
on both of the wings to finally avenge the downing of your carrier. MISSION 1 COMPLETE!
If you've got Mosquito, use homing on Ayako's tail, get close to it and FIRE, FIRE,
FIRE. You must have missiles. There. Instant S rank for ya. You can also get a S
rank if you use Sinden in the same manner. -(Mosquito tip by C-H, Sinden tip by
Graham Hawkins)
Boss Bonuses:
0'00 ~ 0'10 = S Rank
0'11 ~ 0'15 = A Rank

===============================================================================
Mission 2: Red Sea Naval Yard
Boss: Raimei
Class: Battleship
===============================================================================
You'll be warring in the Middle East, specifically in a shipyard in the Red
Sea. In the beginning, some small fighters will come for you. Destroy them. Red
cargo planes will show up later. Kill them for a weapon. Then there will be some
small ships accompanied with a single warship. Small fighters will continue appearing.
Medal planes will also appear. Destroy them all and grab the medals. After you've
destroyed the second warship, a swarm of small fighters will be rushing past you
like pissed-off killer bees. Don't be afraid to use a bomb or two if things get
too messy. Also remember to destroy the structures on the shipyard for medals hidden
inside.
_______
/ TIP \
/_________\___________________________________________________________________
At the start of the mad fighter dash, go to the right side of the screen and
shoot there. You'll uncover a whole mess of medals. After that, shoot the
canals on the right side of the screen after the fighters. If you see your
shots going into nowhere, continue shooting. You'll soon uncover Alpha the
astronaut and he'll give you 5,000 points and set off a bomb.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the fighter rush, you'll be confronted by tower turrets and helicopters.
Another cargo plane chain will appear. Grab the weapons or extra bombs if needed.
Once you reach a sheltered area of the shipyard, a gunboat will come out of there.
That thing is seriously armored. Use homing against it. Watch out for the fake
missiles that the helicopters shoot. Also remember to shoot the shipyard structures
for medals. After you leave the shipyard, Black Leader will come and fight. Use
homing to seriously damage Black Leader. During the battle, fighters will come and
help out Black Leader. With homing and regular attacks, Black Leader will fall with
no problem. After Black Leader is blown away, time to face...
-------------
BOSS BATTLE
-------------
Raimei! First you'll travel way too fast for Raimei to catch up. Use homing
on the front turrets while it speeds past you to damage them. After that, use homing
on the large turret in the back and destroy the other "lesser" guns. Raimei will
speed up and you'll proceed to it's front section after that. You can destroy the
front turrets easy after it has been damaged by your first homing assault. After
the front is destroyed, time to work on the mid-section. First destroy the small
turret in front of the control tower. Then work on the guns surrounding the control
tower. After all of the guns are gone, use a combo of homing and normal attacks
to blow up the main tower. It has two attacks. The main tower will shoot a huge
salvo of bullets at you if the surrounding guns aren't destroyed. After they are,
the tower will shoot bullets in a 360 degree circle. You can fly RIGHT IN FRONT
of the main tower and start pummeling his face with shots assuming that his
surrounding guns are dead. His 360 degree plasma circle won't hit you if done properly
-(tip by C-H). If you must, use some bombs to save your ass from Raimei's next 360
degree bullet spray. Raimei can't last much longer with combo attacks. It will blow
up and sink without much more effort. MISSION 2 COMPLETE!
If you have Sinden, focus your fire on the main tower. Charge up a bomb to the max
level while you're at it. Don't worry about the surrounding guns, Sinden is much
too fast to get hit if you can outmaneuver enemy fire easily. It's possible to achieve
a S rank with Sinden if you follow these directions. -(tip by Graham Hawkins)
Boss Bonuses:
0'00 ~ 0'32 = S Rank
0'33 ~ 0'45 = A Rank
0'46 ~ 0'55 = B Rank
0'56 ~ 1'20 = C Rank
1'21 ~ 1'40 = D Rank
1'41 ~ = E Rank
===============================================================================
Mission 3: Central African Bush
Boss: Karbert Armour
Class: Huge tank w/ Rail Guns
===============================================================================
You'll start in an African rain forest. In the beginning, green fighters and
a chain of cargo planes will appear. Destroy them and get the weapon the cargo chain
drops. After that, two tanks will appear in a small clearing as well as some turrets
from the thick underbrush. Kill them all. After that attack, more green fighters
will come as well as a few more turrets. A twin plane will also await you ahead.
As soon as you leave the forest, tanks will show up. Another twin plane will be
ahead. You'll soon enter a Masai(?) village. More airplanes will be waiting as well
as some lone green fighters and a couple chains of them. Be sure to destroy the
buildings in the villages for a few medals.
_______
/ TIP \
/_________\___________________________________________________________________
The lake in the village hides another Alpha bomb. Later on, after the
waterfall, you can uncover another medal stash by shooting the left side of
the cliff. Be sure to keep an eye out for the helicopters while doing this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of the village, the same shadow of the tank-dropping plane will
fly by delivering doom from the air. Eliminate all those para tanks dropping from
above. At the waterfall, a helicopter gunship will startle you by flying up the
falls. The gunship is fairly fast; you have to time your homing attacks. I suggest
you take out the guns on both wings first. During the battle, para-tanks and platform
gunships will help out the big chopper. After you ground them, focus on the helicopter
gunship. If you manage to destroy it before it flies away or falls into the bottom
of the waterfall, you get medals. Might I also mention a whole lot of them?
At the bottom of the waterfall, more helicopters and platform gunships will
assault you. Continue battling. At the bottom of the river are three tanks on an
island. After scrapping the tanks, Black Leader will come for you again with two
special platform gunships. Use homing on Black Leader and get aligned with one of
the gunships to damage it as well as Black Leader. There will also be three underwater
turrets in the river, submerged. If you get near it, the turrets will surface. At
the end of the river, you'll find three tanks. Destroy the tanks and you'll travel
to a construction area on the side of some railroad tracks. There, a whole blockade
of tanks await you. Every tank you destroy in this blockade will carry a medal.
The small tanks carry regular medals. The long tanks carry golden crosses. The single
missile battery has one medal of honor. After that, wreak the construction site
for more medals. Tanks, batteries, and choppers will try to stop you. Cargo planes
will show up after the construction site offering you a weapon or bomb. Mass
destruction baby!
-------------
BOSS BATTLE
-------------
You'll catch up with Karbert Armour. Stay in the middle of the screen when
you approach Karbert. A whole uninterrupted line of shells will trap you in the
middle of the screen. While cornered, try using homing attack against the rail tanks
carried by Karbert. After the two rail tanks are destroyed, concentrate fire on
the small discs on both sides of Karbert. Those discs shoot big shells in a circle.
Ignore Karbert's missile launchers; the missiles can be destroyed. After both discs
are gone, a middle gun will appear. (if you destroy the missile launchers, they
turn into helicopter landing pads and release choppers. The middle gun will still
appear) Concentrate all fire and homing on the middle gun. It will annoy the hell
out of you with a full shell barrage. After the middle gun is blown away, the body
of the tank will start exploding and only the two back guns remain. They are easy
to defeat. The back guns shoot a curved line of bullets and also a bullet circle.
Once the back guns are destroyed, Karbert Armour will be no more. MISSION 3 COMPLETE!
You can use the "Blast" technique mentioned above in the controls section to avoid
the barrage. While charging up the bomb, shoot Karbert's main gun. When he starts
his next barrage, stop charging and blow him to hell. -(tip by C-H)

Mission 4: Arctic Ocean off the coast of Greenland
Boss: Grantz
Class: Heavily Armed Nuclear Submarine
===============================================================================
Your plane will be flying over the taiga of Greenland. At the starting point,
meet the hoverplane. It carries an item so destroy it and collect it. After it's
destruction, reinforcements will arrive. Fighters will start shooting. Later, a
camouflaged fighter awaits you over an enemy campsite. Destroy it and the camp for
medals. Afterwards, long tanks and fighters will be after you. The tanks leave medals.
_______

/_________\___________________________________________________________________
See the small clearing on the right side of the forest? Shoot it and you'll
find Alpha. Later on, one of the icebergs holds a frozen fossil of a
dinosaur. Shoot it for medals.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll soon head out to sea where fighters, submarines, and spreader blimps
await to kill you. Show them that they're wrong by killing them. On the icebergs
are tanks and laser towers. Some icebergs move and there is one that can even be
blasted away. Twin planes fly overhead. Remember to use homing against the planes
and blast away the main tower to totally destroy the laser towers. If you see the
silhouette of the subs getting bigger and bigger in the water, it means that they're
about to surface leaving themselves vulnerable to your deadly arsenal. Later on,
you'll see a whole fleet of submarines along with a single hoverplane flying over
them. Quickly destroy the hoverplane and get the weapon or the bomb. Believe me:
you'll need the item before you face the wrath of the fleet. After that, spreader
blimps will make your life miserable. Finally, Black Leader challenges you to another
battle. (about time) This time, Black Leader has no reinforcements. It is a 1 on
1, mano a mano duel. Black Leader will start with a spray of plasma balls in a "V"
shape. After that, Black Leader will continue the plasma ball assault. Use homing
and regular attacks like always. After a while, Black Leader will fire Gemini Missiles
as I like to call them. They may seem like one harmless (or not ^_^) missile. But
they will split into two and those two will split into another pair and so on until
you have to face a missile blanket. That is, the whole screen filled with missiles.
But as long as you destroy the missile before they have a chance to split, you'll
be fairly safe. After the missile blanket, Black Leader will dash away unless you
kick his ass before that happens. Later on, two subs will confront you. But you'll
soon see that a huge undersea craft will speed by. Hmm... I wonder what that is?
Kill those two submarines and prepare yourself for...
-------------
BOSS BATTLE
-------------
the Grantz! This is one badass sub. It'll annoy you by a few salvos of plasma balls.
Destroy the front cannons and don't bother with the back cannons. Instead, deal
with the structure in front of the back guns. Once the structure is destroyed. Grantz
blows up. MISSION 3 COM... waaaait a minute! That seemed a little too easy. It is.
Grantz will flip over revealing its deadly guns concealed below the sea. You'll
have to face a single berserk cannon and it's five plasma cannons below. Use homing
on the plasma cannons preferably the inner cannons. The berserker gun will fire
a slow barrage of small plasma bullets and the plasma cannons will shoot big, fast
plasma balls. After the cannons are dispatched, the mid-section of the Grantz will
release a satellite. Shooting it results in a release of medals. You might want
to destroy the gun in back of the satellite compartment and "harvest" the satellites
for mucho points. Well, all good things don't last and you'll have to say bye-bye
to the satellite compartment. Blow it up. Grantz will now open its torpedo
compartments. Terminate the last gun up ahead to completely sink Grantz. Doesn't
this remind you of "Titanic?"

Mission 5: Spanish Military Installation
Boss: Sancho Pedro
Class: Heavily Armored Train with Add-on Artillery Cannons
===============================================================================
You will start off high above the outskirts of a major Spanish city. That
is where the battle starts. Immediately, a group of green fighters led by a blue
fighter in front will attack. If you can destroy all of them in one hit, you'll
score bonus points. So use the homing on them. Well, the beams don't hit them but
the homing missile sure rips through the group. More green fighter groups will start
coming along with twin planes. After you kill them all, a slow chain of red cargo
planes will fly out of the bottom of the screen. If that's where you hang out for
the game, be careful not to crash. Get the weapon the chain drops. You'll need it
for fighting Black Leader which is next. Black Leader will fly by in a circle and
stop in the center of the screen. When Black Leader stops, he'll call eight special
planes to surround him and spin around. After a while, those small planes will shoot
shells and spin around in a circle trapping you in a gauntlet of spinning shells.
You'll have to keep up with the small fighters or if you're too slow, prepare to
die. The small fighters will stop and continue after short intervals. During those
breaks, shoot them.
_______
/ TIP \
/_________\___________________________________________________________________
For a real fast and simple defeat of Black Leader, get in back of him right
when he stops and summons those planes. Now immediately use homing and normal
fire combo. If you defeat him in time, Black Leader dashes away leaving many
medals and his eight little dwarves will malfunction and leave more medals.
The sooner you defeat Black Leader, the better medals you'll get. As soon as
you get to the gates of the compound, shoot the left side of the screen and
you'll uncover the fabled extra life power-up. While you are inside the
compound, shoot the right hand side of the screen when you get to the tank
shelters to find Alpha the astronaut. After that, when fighting the second
Ayako-like plane, you'll uncover some medals if you shoot both the left and
right hand sides. When you move forward a little bit after defeating the
plane, there is yet another medal stash on the right side making a total of
three secret medal areas -(extra life tip by Graham Hawkins).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Black Leader, you'll start descending. More green fighters led by blue
leader will fight you. Then the trains will start catching up with you. Destroy
the locomotive engines (front) so the cars will stop moving. Later, separate green
fighters will start attacking and I mean that they'll attack unlike those wimps
led by blue leader. After three to four trains appearing, you'll fly into the enemy
compound. Destroy those guns on top of the wall. Inside, a variety of tanks will
appear: small tanks, long tanks, missile batteries, artillery cannons, and
para-tanks. Most of them carry medals. At the start, three missile batteries will
greet you. After that, small tanks will attack from land and air. You'll reach the
tank shelters soon. Shooting them will result in medals being released. If you destroy
the bridge with tanks on them, medals are released. Each busted up tank garage holds
three medals in the ruins. They will keep releasing small tanks and spreader tanks.
After you've destroyed them all, various para-tanks and small tanks will try to
stop, but with no avail. Then, a train will carry another carrier plane like Ayako
to a launch pad for take off. Destroy it before it reaches it's destination. Then,
the train rolls into a much bigger train and carries it like a tugboat. (Jeez, that
thing runs on 4+ tracks. What a big ass weapon!) Be sure to destroy the nuclear
bombs and trains next to the behemoth in the middle.
-------------
BOSS BATTLE
-------------
Yep. That thing is Sancho Pedro. It has three forms. It's first form has two
frontal cannons that fires flak (anti-aircraft) shots. It also has rocket launchers
on top of it that launches huge rockets in the air and falls toward your plane.
This thing can conceal it's main gun in the center of the rocket launchers. If the
gun comes out, immediately use homing and fire. The center gun usually comes out
after missile launching and goes away after. Once you destroy the center gun, phase
one is destroyed. Time for phase two. The ruins of cannon one rolls into the second
cannon. The second one also has the twin frontal cannons and bears a heavy gatling
gun. That gun shoots shells wildly down the center part of the screen and it spends
fraggin' big casings that can destroy you if you crash into the empty cases. There
are frontal side cannons that will shoot flak bombs like what Ayako has. After the
destruction of the main gatling cannon, it will still try to shoot but no shells
come out. The casings still fly on out but a few shots should rip them up. A few
more shots will destroy phase two. Be prepared for the final phase. Sancho's second
cannon will roll into yet another even bigger cannon. This time, it's a laser. Two
other cars will quickly attach to the main laser. Sancho's final form has two small
lasers that are attached to the side of the main laser. They fire a single beam
that traps you on the bottom side or the top side. Things will get pretty crowded
at times. Believe me. The side cannons sport flak bombers in front, laser cannons
that will fire three triple laser salvos, and missile launchers in the back. When
all guns are destroyed on the side cars, they malfunction and detach from the main
cannon. If you see the main cannon turning purple, it will shoot a huge beam from
it. In back of the main laser are bomb launchers. They will explode into what I
call star lightning bombs. They are star-shaped plasma balls that travel real slow.
Once the main laser gets beaten up, Sancho blows up. Before it totally dies, it
releases the tug train. If you manage destroy it you get bonus points. (up to
100,000!!!) Don't worry, you don't fail the mission if you're unable to destroy
the train. MISSION 5 COMPLETE!
NOTE: Graham Hawkins points out that the tug train is actually a nuclear bomb. Meh,
with me totally focused on destroying that thing, I don't notice that fact. :P
Time for the final mission. There are two fates for this world: peace or apocalypse.
The choice is yours.
===============================================================================
Final Mission (Part 1): Aircraft Carrier in the North Atlantic
Boss: Metal Gear
Class: War Robot
===============================================================================
In the game, the carrier is called Outerlimits. However, I prefer to save
"Outerlimits" for another boss. I like calling this one "Metal Gear" though his
proper name is "Walking Warrior." The similarity is uncanny.
Another high-fly mission. You will, yet again, start high above something.
In this case an aircraft carrier. You will fly down to the carrier and in part one
of the final mission, you'll fly around the carrier in a circle. A wave of small
fighters will attack. Then there will be green fighters. Small and large turrets
on the carrier will attempt to shoot you down. You'll soon reach some trains parked
on the tracks. The cannons will shoot you like no train ever has. I mean a barrage
of fire. If you're still uncomfortable with barrages, get used to it. You'll see
plenty of them now. Small turrets will accompany the trains as well as green fighters.
Shoot them all. After that, destroy the control towers on the carrier and the large
turret behind them.
_______
/ TIP \
/_________\___________________________________________________________________
There is a medal stash in this mission. It is on the left side of the first
control tower you see. Shoot the landing pad.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you reach the top section of the carrier, another helicopter gunship
will appear. This one shoots lasers. A whole platoon of tanks will attack with the
gunship. Kill them. Don't be surprised if you see another barrage of fire. On the
right is like a mirror image of the left. Another big turret and control tower.
Later, green fighters and camouflaged fighters will attack. More bullet blankets
along your way. For the whole battle, show no mercy. Do not even hesitate to fire,
use homing, and bombs. If you don't you WILL die. Moments of calm in this mission
are rare to never. Finally, Black Leader will mess around and fly around the screen
slowly while you battle two large turrets. He just wants you to crash. Avoid him.
No need to defeat him unless you want to shoot him out of pure rage and vengeance.
Do this after the turrets are destroyed. Finally, you'll proceed to the center of
the carrier where you are confronted by a dozen or so guns. They fire bullets and
star plasma. When they all go down, you face...
-------------
BOSS BATTLE
-------------
the Metal Gear or Walking Warrior if you want to be "official." I'll call
him Metal Gear for I shall use Outerlimits for the final boss. Anyway, Metal Gear
is some heavy armed *$#!@. Metal Gear has a wide array of attacks. It has two large
turrets on it's side that is like a combo between a small turret and a large turret.
The small turret's mobility and the large turret's power. It has a small turret
in it's crotch with two flak cannons to the side of that. (stop thinking sick ^_^)
It can also shoot a HUGE barrage of bullets, and bullets in a circle. Metal Gear
can fire a teardrop shell that can fire other shells in both directions. It can
release small droids that shoot lasers and also hovering discs that spin shells
around them. If you manage to destroy them, they release medals. Use homing on the
two large turrets and regular fire on the small turret and flak cannons. Then use
the Ultimate Combo: Homing, fire, and LV. 4 bombs. This will wreak havoc on Metal
Gear! Metal Gear will be weakening if you see it catching on fire. A few more shots
will slay the beast once and for all! PART 1 COMPLETE!
===============================================================================
Final Mission (Part 2): The Heavens
Boss: Outerlimits (Black Nemesis)
Class: Heavy Fighter/Bomber
===============================================================================
The aircraft carrier will open up revealing its dark secrets within. From
that point, your plane will start moving backwards into the abyss. Helicopters will
attack along with a hoverplane. Grab the weapon or a much needed bomb. You'll reach
the bottom where two nukes lie below you. The launch will commence immediately after
that. You'll move forward and battle the nuke launcher. It has two large turrets
on it. Use homing on the turrets and the whole thing itself after all the guns on
it are blown up.
_______
/ TIP \
/_________\___________________________________________________________________
To the left side of the nuke launcher are where the hidden medals are. Shoot
that area for them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the destruction of the launcher, it will go awal and launch the nukes.
You'll start going really fast hoping to catch up with the nukes but your futile
attempt is fruitless. You'll meet Black Leader but he'll just scare you and fly
away. You'll meet the tank dropper plane. Okay, shoot the wings. Tank dropper will
release two teleporting spheres that fire lasers. Don't bother with homing attack;
the spheres will just teleport to the homing missile and block the attack. You will
have to rely on regular fire and bombs. The wings will transform into arms if it
sustains enough damage. Then, the arms will be swing back and forth and fire a blanket
of lasers. Your job is to destroy the six guns in the center of the plane and the
one gun at the end of the plane to defeat it. Use no homing. If the battle takes
too long, the arms will position themselves at different places firing lasers. After
tank dropper's defeat, you'll catch up with the nukes. Black Leader will be in between
the nukes. Try not to crash into the nukes. Black Leader now uses his famous homing
shells and spreader shells. The spreader shells start as one shell and then they
split into five. You can either shoot the nukes or Black Leader. I'd say Black Leader.
Once you defeat him, he'll drop medals and the body of the missiles will malfunction.
The warheads will depart from the body and head for their target which will be your
hometown: Tokyo, Japan. Putting a stop to this war will be a long and arduous task.
But first, Black Leader will fight you. He'll release a cluster of bullets and they
will slowly spread into a blanket. While you're trapped in the blanket, Black Leader
will shoot lasers at you. Finally, a gargantuan fighter/bomber will appear and try
to fry you in it's rocket thrusters. Black Leader will go into a frontal compartment
and attach to it. Prepare yourself... for the final boss.
*******************************************************************************
FINAL BOSS: OUTERLIMITS (Black Nemesis)
GOOD LUCK!!!
*******************************************************************************
Outerlimits is designed as the ultimate war machine. It is also designed to
distract you while the warheads reach their target in this case. Beware of the bullet
barrages, laser shots, and the occasional charring by rocket thrust. First, destroy
it's six thrusters. That may be hard to do because each one can fire a barrage of
bullets and imagine six giant guns firing a bullet barrage. Quite a nightmarish
sight, huh? Use the Ultimate Combo mentioned above. After the thrusters are destroyed,
they will turn into laser vulcans. Once they are destroyed, start ripping off the
wings. Outerlimits now will use homing missiles and flak fire. Destroy the outer
part of the wings and then the inside wings until Outerlimits looks like a satellite.
Then, it has a totally different array of attacks. It still has those homing missiles,
but it also has a bullet barrage, and a very dangerous gun. Outerlimits can whip
that thing out anytime. It's small so you have to really pay attention to Outerlimit's
bottom section. That gun shoots a white thunder blast without warning. That means
no charge-up, no attack before it, nothing. It consists of a single wide laser with
lightning swirling around the beam.
NOTE: Kun Li, a friend of mine, discovered a thing about the laser. It can actually
drag your plane toward the beam while the missiles home in toward you. Pretty cheap
Outerlimits, pretty cheap. You wanna play like a lowlife huh?
Don't worry, Outerlimits only uses that attack if it is about to die. So when you
see Outerlimits doing this dreadful thing, pump a few more lead into it and watch
that explode along with Black Leader. FINAL MISSION COMPLETE!!!
NOTE: For those of you who believe that there is a bad end to this game, there
isn't. :( Don't waste time like me searching for an alternate ending. I've tried
letting the final boss win by not attacking. Let me tell you, HARD TASK. Turns out
all bosses just self-destruct if you do nothing. WTF is with that?! Oh, that defeat
method is not recommended. Its way too dangerous and most if not all bosses have
shell barrages. Unless you're an expert at dodging enemy fire, consider your butt
fried trying this. And kiss some of your end level bonuses goodbye...
Now sit back, check how you did in the game, and enjoy the ending. (Nooooo! Bomb
the house... darn :(

Q.) What are the names of those songs?
A.) The names are (courtesy of Leigh Hanrihan):
Mission 1 - "A Bit of Blue Sky Between the Clouds"
Mission 2 - "The Red Naval Port"
Mission 3 - "Dance of the Green Gnome"
Mission 4 - "Silver Ice Sheet"
Mission 5 - "City Lights in the Black Strait"
Final Mission P1 - "Grayish Tornado"
Final Mission P2 - "The Last-Ditch Fight"

Q.) How many ranks are there?
A.) 30 medal promotions.
Q.) What are those letter grades supposed to do? I've got some S's or some A's or
B's.
A.) Oh, I see... it seems that those letter grades represent time bonus, for how
long it took you to defeat a boss. There are 7 grades and point bonuses you can
receive for each boss:
Grade S: 50,000 Pts.
Grade A: 10,000 Pts.
Grade B: 7,000 Pts.
Grade C: 5,000 Pts.
Grade D: 3,000 Pts.
Grade E: 1,000 Pts.
No Grade: 0 Pts.
Of course, the times for each boss varies based on its difficulty level (whaddaya
expect, 32 seconds to beat Outerlimits?). So not every boss has the same time although
the bonus remains constant. What are the times for each boss, you're wondering?
Just look at the boss sections of each mission to find out.
Q.) Are there any cheats for this game?
A.) There's this one cheat that changes the music for the first mission (I don't
know why, the original music sounds much better than the other one...). You have
to press up, right nine times, down four times, and right two more times in that
order. Also for all you emulator users, there's Pro Action Replay Codes or PAR codes
for this game.

5/3/02: My first glance at the FAQ on GameFAQs. The sight was horrible. The ASCII
art is all weird and my charts are messed up. Turns out I missed the rest of the
remaining TABs. Now that they're cleaned up, I'll mail the changes to GameFAQs.
This is version 0.2.
6/29/02: I've received e-mail from a Leigh Hanrihan. He sent the correct boss names
and level names. He even sent the song titles for the level music. Thanks. Expect
update# 3 soon.
4/26/2003: Finally! Another update... anyway, I've done some major revising. I've
corrected most of the spelling and grammar mistakes and also fixed some mistakes
concerning how my charts look. Not only that, someone known as Graham Hawkins
contributed even more tips. Thanks Graham and keep on uncovering more mysteries.
The truth is out there...
