===============================================================================
         INTRODUCTION
===============================================================================

This is a list of the few points in the game where areas (and related quests,
monsters, etc) become inaccessible due to story events.

For completionists, it can be used as a quick reference for whether they should
reload an earlier save after a given event, and what they should focus on
completing before going forward.

SPOILER WARNING: such a list is inevitably filled with massive spoilers.

The document is a series of paragraphs structured as follows:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#. Event triggering the lockout
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Details on what is locked out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to be preserved from spoiling yourself as much as possible, you
are advised to either:

- stop reading this now! or

- read the headers of paragraphs, one at a time, and check if you have reached
this point before reading the details and anything else further below.

Note that in general, collectables are not missable, even after the
corresponding area is locked out. You will be able to get them through trading
with named NPCs or from Special areas in Colony 6 (unlocked with the colony
rebuilding quests).
That said, certain collectables cannot be obtained through trading, and the
probability of getting them from Special areas may be fairly low, so it can be
a good idea to make sure to complete the Collectopaedia for a given area before
it is locked out.

And now, without further ado, here is the list:

===============================================================================
LIST OF LOCKOUTS/POINT OF NO RETURN
===============================================================================

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. When you decide to move everyone from the Refugee Camp in Bionis' Leg to
  Colony 6 :
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

All Refugee Camp timed quests will disappear (i.e. most quests there).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. After the boss battle in Ether Mine :
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

These areas become inaccessible : the second half of Ether Mine
All related locations/landmarks are locked out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. After the boss battle at the end of Mechonis Field:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

These areas become inaccessible : Sword Valley, Galahad Fortress.
All related (timed) quests, unique monsters, locations/landmarks are locked
   out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Upon reaching the final event in Agniratha
(as you discover landmark Shrine Transporter on 3F):
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This area becomes inaccessible : Mechonis Field.
All related (timed) quests, unique monsters, locations/landmarks are locked
   out.
NPC in Machina Refuge in Mechonis Field will relocate or disappear
depending on your completion of a certain quest.

These area maps are still accessible, but you cannot quick travel there
 anymore: Central Factory, Agniratha.
To access Central Factory, talk to Miqol. It brings you to a new section of
the area, from where you can still find a way to the old section (and
   something new to do there).
You can then access Agniratha from Agniratha Transporter.
Since it becomes quite inconvenient to get to and navigate Agniratha and
(to a lesser extent) the old section of of Central Factoray this way, it is
recommended to complete as much as you can there before that lockout point.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. After you go to and unfold the events in Mechonis Core.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Note: if you are in Central Factory, before going to Mechonis Core, and want
to backtrack, just go back to Junks, talk to Miqol, and return to the Hidden
 Village.

 ---

These area maps become inaccessible : Prison Island, Central Factory,
 Agniratha, Mechonis Core.
All related (timed) quests, unique monsters, locations/landmarks are locked
   out.

This area map is still accessible, but you cannot quick travel there anymore:
 Alcamoth.
All related (timed) quests are locked out.
Many NPCs will disappear, while others will relocate in various locations
and have to be found again.
If not completed before the event, a handful quests will be replaced by
   alternative versions.
You will eventually be able to access all parts of Alcamoth, but this will
require a little work (no worries about locations/landmarks/heart-to-
   heart).

And some good news at last: the last high level areas and quests will unlock.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. The Point of No Return :
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The point of no return is the transporter in the Corridor of Silence on 5F
of Prison Island after defeating the boss there.
