                              INTRODUCTION
=======================================================================

The Extra Dungeon is just what it says: an extra dungeon that will test your
ability.  It's made up of a hub and 6 sub-dungeons, each with a boss awaiting
you.  You may challenge the dungeons in any order except for the Exhibit Hall.
The door to the Exhibit Hall is locked until you have defeated the other 5
dungeons.

I believe that the Extra Dungeon was designed to be taken on after the player
has completed the Corridor of Time.  A good level to be at is somewhere in
the 80s range, and don't forget to strengthen up your demons as well.

A little trivia: the Extra Dungeon did not originally come with the Saturn
version of the game.  Rather, it was given as a separate disc to a lucky
1,000.
Copies of the original game as well as the second Devil Zensho came with an
application ticket that you would send to Atlus to be put in a lottery for
the chance to win the Extra Dungeon disc.
The PS1 and 3DS versions come with the Extra Dungeon already built into the
disc/cartridge.

                                 FAQ
=======================================================================

Q. How do I unlock the Extra Dungeon?
A. Simply beat the game at least once.  Once you have beaten the game one
time, you may go to the Extra Dungeon with any file by selecting "Extra
  Game" on the main menu.

Q. How early can I access the Extra Dungeon?
A. After beating the game at least once, you can access the Extra Dungeon at
any time with all of your files.  For example, you can start a new game
and access the Extra Dungeon as soon as you have completed the first Vision
  Quest.

Q. Can I save in the Extra Dungeon?
A. Nope.  No saving in the dungeon.  If you turn the game off or go back to
the main menu then you will lose all of your progress.

Q. What do I get for beating the Extra Dungeon?
A. Nothing, except some sense of pride and bragging rights.

Q. What happens if I get a game over?
A. You can be revived with full health and continue playing.  However, any
items or MAG you used will not be given back to you.

Q. Can I recruit demons in this dungeon?
A. You can recruit demons, but you will not have them when you go back to the
  main game.

Q. If I lose the second battle in a series of battles, do I start at the
  battle I lost?
A. No, you will start back at the first battle.

Q. What's with the Inui and Sid Davis bosses?
A. Both are from Soul Hackers's predecessor, the original Devil Summoner.
Sid is the game's main villain while Inui is a boss that is fought in the
  Casa Inui apartment buildings.
In addition, Kyouji is actually the protagonist from Devil Summoner, and
the two Raido(u)s come from the Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha duology.

                                TIPS
=======================================================================

These are simply some things you may want to keep in mind while preparing
your party or traversing the dungeon.

- Bring some MP- and HP-restoring items.  MP-restoring are especially useful
in some of the longer battles.

- Makarakarn and Tetrakarn will help you immensely in this dungeon.  Most of
the boss battles, besides those in the Exhibit Hall, can be completely
trivialized by a speedy Makarakarn or Tetrakarn caster.  In addition, these
moves will help to reduce damage to your party.

- Now is a great time to bust out the Mitamas!  The Exhibit Hall bosses have
pretty high stats, so fight back with stats just as high.  Don't be
surprised to find that you need to get most stats in the late 30s to 40
 range.

- One of the bosses has the Question Box ability as well as a skill that
damages Kind, Sly, and Wild demons.  Because of this, I recommend Calm
demons or at least having some Calm demons as a backup.

=======================================================================
                       EXTRA DUNGEON WALKTHROUGH
=======================================================================

After you have selected "Extra Game" from the main menu, you will be dropped
into the Extra Dungeon.  There is a healing space directly across from where
you start should you need it.

I wrote this guide under the assumption that neither the difficulty DOWN
or UP hack is on and that it is not a New Game+.

NOTE: Many of the bosses in the dungeons have their default game stats
(i.e. the stats are the same as those found in the original game if you fused
them or ran into them in battle).  I have noted this by putting "Default
stats" in the strategy description.

SUSTENANCE AND DESTRUCTION [EX_W1]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This might seem obvious, but it tripped me up the first time: when you find a
fence in the middle of the hall, wait until you're in the air then jump over
it.  If you mis-time it, you'll simply run into the fence.
There are two different boss battles in here, and you may choose which to
battle.  Both paths (Sustenance and Destruction) start the same, so first
step forward and then step back to where you were just standing.

If you're going on the Sustenance path:
After you warp, head east until you hit a fork.  Go south, where you will
encounter a warp that will simply spin you around.  Go east over the fence and
you will find the door to the boss.

HIDDEN WATERFALL [EX_W2]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This dungeon is based off of the Ghost Waterfall painting from the VR Art
Museum, where you must go around to the 4 men and determine which is lying.

Head through the north door, where you will find the door labeled "Valhalla."
When you attempt to enter, it will ask you to say which of the men is telling
the truth and which is lying.  In order, the answers are:
"He's lying."
"He's lying."
"He is."
"He's lying."

DARK PLANET [EX_W3]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This dungeon is made up of several layers of walkways that you must traverse
until you find the correct warp.  If you mess up, simply fall all the way to
the bottom floor and exit through one of the doors.

From where you start, go south until you hit the edge.  Go west until you hit
a fork, then go south and leap down to the lower walkway.  From there, keep
heading south until you hit the edge, then head east and leap down to the
lower walkway.  Keep going east, then head north when you get to the edge.
At the four-way fork, go east and then south.  Fall down the hole in the
middle to warp to in front of the boss door.

| MP: 196                  | WEAK: Skill, Gun                   |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| FEMME Amazon (x3)        | MOVES: Yabusame Shot, Demon's      |
| LV 43                    | Intimidation, Paraladi             |
| HP: 339                  | REFLECT: Electric                  |
| MP: 95                   | VOID: Expel                        |
|                          | RESIST: Death                      |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Default stats.  Go magical for this battle so that you don't  |
| fall victim to Pallas Athena's Tetrakarn.  The first row is   |
| easily taken out by a strong multi-target attack, while the   |
| second can be taken out by a Slash attack.                    |

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
DUNGEON P [EX_W4]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In this dungeon, you must simply walk over all of the pits to open them
without walking over a previously opened pit.  To start, head to the east.
There will be four doors on the eastern wall - you want the third one down.
Go south and circle around until you're back where you started.  Now go north
until you are at a four-way fork.  Go east and circle around until you are
back at the fork.  Go west and then head north and circle around until you're
back to where you were standing.  Head south, then circle around southeast and
you'll make it to the boss room.

o---------------------------------------------------------------o
BOSS
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| GHOST Inui               | MOVES: Last Resort                 |
| LV 75                    | VOID: Death, Expel, Mind, Nerve,   |
| HP: 607                  | Gun                                |
| MP: 159                  | RESIST: Ice, Electric, Force,      |
|                          | Strike, Slash, Skill               |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Inui comes with six Platoon Soldiers, each with around 1000   |
| or so HP.  They will take heavy damage from all attacks and   |
| are able to be easily taken out by their own attacks.  What   |
| you'll want is a demon who reflects physical attacks.  This   |
| demon must have the lowest HP, because the Soldiers will      |
| always go after the party member with the lowest HP.  You can |
| use Tetrakarn to speed up the process, but all of the front   |
| row Soldiers will always move first.                          |
|                                                               |
| For Inui himself, use Tetrakarn or a Magic Mirror to throw    |
| his dangerous Last Resort back at him.  He is slower than the |
| Soldiers, so you should easily be able to outspeed him.       |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
QUANTUM LEAP [EX_W5]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This dungeon is made up of 14 square rooms that you must traverse.  From where
you start, go north, east, south twice, west, north, west, south, west, north,
and then east twice to get to the boss room.

o---------------------------------------------------------------o
BOSS
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| FIEND Sid                | MOVES: Mabufula, Mazan, Megidola,  |
| LV 69                    | Tetrakarn, Silent Whisper, Bacterio|
| HP: 2500                 | One, Babylon Pheromone             |
| MP: 900                  | REFLECT: Fire, Ice, Electric,      |
|                          | VOID: Death, Expel, Nerve, Mind    |
|                          | RESIST: Physical                   |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Sid comes with the ability to summon the same demons as you,  |
| down to their stats.  So if you buffed up your demons, they   |
| will use that same power against you.  He will never have     |
| more demons than you and cannot summon Zoma or Rangers.       |
| Because you will be fighting against your own demons, I       |
| cannot offer you a strategy for them.                         |
|                                                               |
| Sid himself can be rather dangerous because of his ailment-   |
| inducing skills and resists.  The most dangerous/irritating   |
| is Silent Whisper, since you'll lose a turn using a Dimute    |
| Stone and will be unable to use magic.  Bacterio One and      |
| Babylon Pheromone can both inflict Charm.  I recommend using  |
| Makrakarn because of this.                                    |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
EXHIBIT HALL [EX_W6]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The boss room is directly next to the entrance, but is closed.  In this
dungeon, going through a door will either open or close all doors.  The
easiest route to take is to go east two rooms, north one room, through the
northwest door, through the southeast door, south one room, and west one room.
The boss door should now be open.

Make sure you're absolutely ready before you enter the door, because you
will have to go through 4 consecutive fights.

| LV 76                    | Strike, Atom Slicer                |
| HP: 1810                 | VOID: Death, Expel                 |
| MP: 752                  | RESIST: Physical                   |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Since Kyouji's demons have both Expel and Death skills, I     |
| recommend protecting yourself against both so your character  |
| doesn't get insta-killed in the middle of battle.             |
|                                                               |
| Kyouji himself isn't a problem.  When he's in the back row,   |
| he will always guard.  Though he gets two attacks per turn,   |
| he only attacks with his sword and is usually debuffed by the |
| time he gets to you.                                          |
|                                                               |
| Get rid of Anat first so that she can't revive or heal        |
| anybody.  Kali should go next so that you don't have to deal  |
| with her annoying and dangerous ability to charm.  Metatron   |
| has some strong attacks, but does not have any annoying       |
| gimmicks so he can be taken out last.                         |
|                                                               |
| It's rather smooth sailing if you get rid of the first row.   |
| If you're using Makarakarn, you can easily get Shiva to kill  |
| himself.  Vishnu has Diarahan, but doesn't tend to use it.    |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o

Another battle ensues, but your opponent is kind enough to heal you first.

From here on, many skills have unique names but correspond to normal skills.
I will list it as "Unique Name (Corresponding Skill)."

| GENERAL Yoshitsune       | MOVES: Hassou Tobi, Frenzy, Cross  |
| LV 80                    | Slash (Bamboo Slice)               |
| HP: 2872                 | VOID: Death, Expel, Nerve, Mind    |

| VILE Mishauji            | MOVES: Naughty Slap (Dolphin Kick),|
| LV 80                    | Light Emission (Sap), Cursed Bolt  |
| HP: 2832                 | (Thunderbolt)                      |

o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Start by getting rid of Gashadokuro so that you can stop her  |
| from using either of her Stone-inducing attacks.              |
|                                                               |
| Yoshitsune can be dangerous because of his hard-hitting       |
| physical attacks.  This is especially true of Hassou Tobi,    |
| which will hit 8 times.  Buff/debuff or use Tetrakarn to      |
| lower or eliminate his threat and then take him out.          |
|                                                               |
| Mishauji isn't too dangerous, but you'll want to watch out    |
| for Light Emission, which can charm.  In addition, Naughty    |
| Slap can take out a nice chunk of HP.                         |

Another face joins the fray and you'll be forced into another battle.

|                          | VOID: Death, Expel, Nerve, Mind    |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| BRUTE Azumi              | MOVES: You Eatin' Well?            |
| LV 80                    | (Mediarama), Hysterical Slap,      |
| HP: 3064                 | Stamina Chakra (Barrier Guard)     |
| MP: 1328                 | WEAK: Fire                         |
|                          | VOID: Death, Nerve, Mind           |
|                          | RESIST: Ice, Force, Expel          |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| JAKI Ippon-Datara        | MOVES: Tarukaja, Hammer (Hassou    |
| LV 80                    | Tobi)                              |
| HP: 2776                 | VOID: Death, Expel, Nerve, Mind    |
| MP: 1360                 |                                    |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| RAPTOR Moh Shuvuu        | MOVES: Scouting (Gun Beam), Find a |
| LV 80                    | Stick (Yinlong Killer), Frolic     |
| HP: 2752                 | ABSORB: Electric, Force, Gun       |
| MP: 1344                 | VOID: Death, Expel, Nerve, Mind,   |
|                          | Skill                              |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| NIGHT Mokoi              | MOVES: Winged Fury (Heat Wave),    |
| LV 80                    | Odd Dance (Valiant Dance),         |
| HP: 2824                 | Nice Shock                         |
| MP: 1344                 | ABSORB: Magic                      |
|                          | RESIST: Physical                   |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Raidou's Hat's Off move works the same as Question Box, so    |
| only Calm demons are safe from it.  In addition, Raido's      |
| Demon Scolding will only damage Wild, Sly, and Kind demons.   |
| Raido focuses more on physical attacks, while Raidou uses     |
| trickier skills.  Raidou can do a Scouting + Strong Shot      |
| combo with Moh Shuvuu or a Nice Shock + Dragon Fang combo     |
| with Mokoi to get an insta-kill, and can send demons back to  |
| the COMP with Ogre Scythe.                                    |
|                                                               |
| Moh Shuvuu can cause Mark or Charm, while Mokoi can cause     |
| Confusion.  Ippon-Datara can be dangerous if he uses a        |
| Tarukaja-enhanced Hammer, so keep a demon with Dekaja or      |
| Tarunda handy.  Azumi can use the equivalent of Mediarama,    |
| but tends to only use it once or twice during battle, and     |
| you'll most likely be dealing out the same amount of damage   |
| that she's healing.                                           |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o

And one last battle.

o---------------------------------------------------------------o
BOSS
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| SOULLESS Oumagatsu       | MOVES: Go, Battleship! (Bite the   |
| LV 99                    | Dust), Ox Bezoar (Diarama), Magatsu|
| HP: 65535                | Crush (Megaton Press), Soulless    |
| MP: 9999                 | Cannon (Maragion), Soulless Rain   |
|                          | (Megidolaon), Senpai's Pride       |
|                          | (Dekaja/Dekunda), Ogre Scythe      |
|                          | (Fake Guillotine), Hats Off        |
|                          | (Question Box)                     |
|                          | REFLECT: Death, Expel              |
|                          | VOID: Nerve, Mind                  |
|                          | RESIST: Ice, Electric, Force,      |
|                          | Slash, Skill                       |
o---------------------------------------------------------------o
| Rakukaja is a must for this battle, because Oumagatsu will hit|
| hard twice per turn.  Tarunda also helps with its physical    |
| attacks.  Wearing armor that voids fire and bringing demons   |
| who void fire will help so that you don't get hit by its most |
| devastating attack.  Makakaja is useful so that you can end   |
| the battle quickly.                                           |
|                                                               |
| Its most powerful attack is Soulless Canon, especially when   |
| it inflicts Bomb with Go, Battleship! beforehand.  It will    |
| hit hard even with max Rakukaja.  Magatsu Crush and Soulless  |
| Rain can also do some damage, but most of it is negated by a  |
| cast of Tarunda and Rakukaja.                                 |
|                                                               |
| Its most annoying attack is Ogre Scythe, which will either    |
| cut a demon's HP to 1 or send them back to the COMP.  For this|
| reason, I suggest having at least two demons who can heal so  |
| that you'll have one even if the other gets hit and sent back.|
|                                                               |
| Senpai's Pride is used throughout the battle, and it will     |
| often use it back-to-back to cast both Dekaja and Dekunda.    |
| It doesn't use Ox Bezoar until it hits yellow health.         |
|                                                               |
| Really, this battle is mostly staying on your toes while      |
| buffing/debuffing and healing as necessary.                   |
