Dowsing Machine FAQ

1) INTRODUCTION
******************************************************************************
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y were released by Nintendo for Nintendo 3DS in North
America on October 12, 2013.

This FAQ describes the Dowsing Machine, but is mostly a list of all the items
available in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y that can be found using the Dowsing
Machine.  The 151 items are listed by location, in the general order of a
"typical" game walkthrough.

2) DOWSING MACHINE
******************************************************************************
The Dowsing Machine is a Key Item that can be used almost anywhere (but not in
buildings or in Lumiose City) within the game.  It allows the player to locate
hidden items.  These items can be almost anything, from types of Poke Balls, to
health items like Hyper Potions, to other useful items like Repel.

The Dowsing Machine will locate items that are "on-screen" (within the window
of your game) plus a small distance "off-screen."  If you are scouring a
location to look for items, you will need to move your player around in order
to check an area completely.

You obtain the item by directly facing the hidden item and pressing the "A"
button.  You can't get the item if you are standing on the exact spot where the
hidden item is located.

You get the Dowsing Machine from a woman on the beach of Route 8 (Muraille
Coast), toward the south, east of the Mago Berry Tree.  Speak to her after
beating the Team Flare grunts in Glittering Cave, and she will give you the
Dowsing Machine.

3) USING THE DOWSING MACHINE
******************************************************************************
Once you have selected the Dowsing Machine, your player will equip it in their
hands.

The Dowsing Machine sounds chimes and emits two colored light rays when you are
near a hidden item.  Sometimes, you may be near a hidden item, but the Dowsing
Machine does not emit rays.  You may need to turn your player to face a
different direction in order for the Dowsing Machine to emit rays.

Use the rays to determine where the hidden item is and to determine which
direction your player must move or face.

Bluish rays, straight, indicate that a hidden item is nearby.

Greenish rays, slightly separated, indicate you are nearing an item.  Most
often, they indicate that you should turn to either your player's right or left.

Yellowish rays, widely separated, indicate you are very near a hidden item.

Reddish rays, crossed, indicate that you are facing a hidden item.  Press the
"A" button to obtain the item.

as you know the exact location of an item, you can face the spot and press the
"A" button to get the item.
