1. Intro ************************RAIDERS_1***********************************
Welcome. It seems that you have found my FAQ for Face Raiders. Face Raiders is
one of the most unique games ever designed, in my opinion. It is a first-person
shooter that somewhat utilizes the real world and real people's faces. It may
seem like a "meh" kind of concept, but putting it on the Nintendo 3DS truly
increased its appeal. Quite the game worth playing, especially considering it
is already on your 3DS!

Anyhow, here you go. Enjoy.

4. Game Basics and Such ************************RAIDERS_4********************
Upon initially starting up the game, opt to "Play". You'll be asked to take a
picture of yourself using the 3DS's internal camera. Do so by lining your face
up with the guidelines. The picture should automatically be taken; if not, just
use L/R to take it. Soon, you'll begin Stage 1.

In Face Raiders, the object of the game is to move around and shoot down little
bubble-head versions of a face, taken with the camera as per the above or with
the outer cameras. You REALLY need to stand up to play this, or you'll likely
end up knocking something over (or just knocking something). When you do, have
plenty of space, about the amount you'd warrant for using a motion-controlled
game, like the Wii or PlayStation Move.

You'll note, on the top screen, the playing field -- the room you're in, as
shown through the outer (3D) cameras. Throughout the course of a level, you
will have to hit the bubble-head versions of faces, generally the one the
photo was taken of. To do so, first understand that the little faces are
pseudo-projected into the real-world. They can appear from almost any point of
view, including behind you and so on. Anyhow, once you find a face, you can
press the A button to shoot it and possibly defeat it, netting you some points.
You can continue in this manner throughout the level, to the boss of said
level, generally.

There is also another method of attack, though it is pretty rare. On rare
occasions, a bomb will come around. Shoot at it to release it and bring it to
you. Doing so allows you to destroy all of the active faces by pressing the
B button. However, it only can damage a boss slightly, if ever. (It hasn't
been able to be tested on all of them.)

Also note that, if you shoot multiple enemies one after the other, with no
missed shots in-between, you'll get combo points -- bonus points for building
combos. You can also get bonus points for hitting certain groups of enemies in
entirety, defeating enemies whose photo was NOT used for the level, and
defeating the health butterfly (which also heals your health). (For the second
item, you'll get 1,000 points per face at the level's end, if you win.)

Of course, your enemies can also shoot back, and in various manners. Most of
the attacks can be fended off by shooting the projectile shot at you. Most of
the attacks also can be fended off by moving it off-screen, for some reason.
(Nintendo apparently didn't think all too far.) As you get hit, your health
bar in the top-left decreases -- you lose if it empties. To refill it, you can
hit the health butterfly, which appears randomly throughout levels.

After defeating the boss of a level, you'll return to the main menu, usually
with a new intro scene and possibly a new level. There, you can begin another
level or something -- just go to the preferred menu and take a picture for the
level. During the picture taking from here on out, you can slide the Circle Pad
to the right to choose an already-taken picture.

Finally, note some other things. During the course of a level, you can pause it
by using Start -- from there, you can return to the menu with the "Quit"
option. Also while playing, you can press L/R to take photos, which are viewed
at the end of a level and, at your whim, saved to the Nintendo 3DS Camera.

Also, there are some features that I think are unlocked as you progress through
the game. For example, Surprise Shots is much like the photo feature of the
previous paragraph, but the game does the work.

Okay, are you ready? Get ready to fight ... yourself.

5. Stage 1 ("Play") ************************RAIDERS_5************************
Unfortunately for all of us, this game provides enemy swarms for each level
that are randomized for each time you play. Therefore, you're pretty much on
your own. However, I can give details on some new enemies and the boss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Enemy Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During this level, you'll encounter enemies with yellow and pinkish helmets,
which are unadorned. Basically, you can shoot them. They'll shoot pink spheres
at you, or, in some cases, kiss you, but that's little to worry over.
The spiky balls are the real problem. You will want to hit them for points, but
there is a cost. They'll hit the in-game wall and send shrapnel at you. Prepare
to dodge that. You can also shoot the big chunks of the wall to stop it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Initially, for this boss, it'll float around to the left and right. As it does,
just hit its face three times, after which a shield will fall in front of its
face.

Afterwards, three lesser enemies will appear. One of them is spiky. Defeat
the other two, if you wish, as they, too, will try to hurt you. However, your
main goal is to hit the spiky ball so that it will hit the boss's face.
Remember that hitting the spiky ball on its left side makes it head to the
right, the top makes it go down, and so on. Try to hit the X if you can.

After hitting it three times in such a manner, the red jewel will appear on
its forehead. Shoot it three times to end the level.

6. Stage 2 ("Play") ************************RAIDERS_6************************
Unfortunately for all of us, this game provides enemy swarms for each level
that are randomized for each time you play. Therefore, you're pretty much on
your own. However, I can give details on some new enemies and the boss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Enemy Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New to this level, you'll find these red-helmeted enemies, which also have a
spike on one side of their helmet. Hit them once to flip them and turn them
blue, then hit them again to beat them.
Also new to this level are the light-blue helmeted enemies. These also have
a number on their helmet. They are fairly harmless, in general. Once you hit
one, it'll bounce around. To defeat it, keep hitting it until the prescribed
number of hits on its helmet runs out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For the boss, you are simply to hit the correct face of the boss whenever
possible. This does NOT allow facial alterations, make-up, etc. During the
course of the boss, plain enemies (the yellow helmets) will fly in as well.
Defeat them before they hit the wall and cause shrapnel to hit you. Likewise,
don't hit the boss incorrectly, as he'll literally tear through the wall and
make a bunch of shrapnel head for you. You can move so the shrapnel is off
the screen to avoid damage. Also, there will be a point when the boss does
two fake faces. Just don't shoot for that.

Also, eventually, the boss will start hiding behind a wall and head to the
other wall every few seconds. Usually, it'll do a one fake, one real pattern.
Just shoot every second face, prepare to dodge shrapnel, and you'll be golden.
Hit the red jewel thrice to finish off the boss.

7. Stage 3 ("Play") ************************RAIDERS_7************************
Unfortunately for all of us, this game provides enemy swarms for each level
that are randomized for each time you play. Therefore, you're pretty much on
your own. However, I can give details on some new enemies and the boss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Enemy Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New here are some panel-flipping enemies. Not much to mention, just shoot 'em.
Also new are some termite-like enemies that'll eat the wall. No known threat
about 'em; just shoot them, too.
You'll also find groups of gray-helmeted enemies with a spike at the top of
their helmet. To defeat them, hit the ones that are NOT glowing so that they
all do and the group dies as a whole.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The boss here is rather neat. Remember those groups of gray-helmeted enemies
from throughout the level? Well, the boss will launch out some of them. You
first should aim to make them all glow. Afterwards, hit the red jewel on the
boss's forehead a few times.

You'll then have to repeat that, then you'll get the "Finish him!" message.
This second round is much more complicated, as the gray-helmeted enemies stick
closer to the boss, so don't get antsy. Wait for an opening before shooting the
red jewel.

Also throughout the boss, beware that delaying a red jewel hit too long could
result in the boss smashing the wall, so be ready to dodge shrapnel.

8. Final Stage ("Play") ************************RAIDERS_8********************
Unfortunately for all of us, this game provides enemy swarms for each level
that are randomized for each time you play. Therefore, you're pretty much on
your own. However, I can give details on some new enemies and the bosses.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Enemy Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New here, you'll find a tennis-racket enemy. To deal with it, just shoot at the
ball it smacks at you. Do so a few times, shoot the inactive enemy a few more
times, and there you go!
Another new enemy would be some metal discs. Nothing special; just shoot 'em.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For the first boss (the disco ball), wait for a cannon to start looking like
it is charging. Also note, during this time, which way the thing is rotating.
Once the cannon lights up, start shooting the crystal above the cannon, then
shoot the ones further around it, going against the disco ball's rotation.
(If it is going clockwise, you shoot counterclockwise, and vice versa.) Do this
six times until all the cannons are destroyed. Note that, for the final cannon,
you can do the shooting ahead of time, as you already know which one is going
to shoot.

For the second part of this first boss, it will start flying around really
high, almost right above you. To defeat it, you need to shoot the face sixteen
times. A pretty simple task, except that the panels surrounding the boss will
fly off as you deal damage. Be prepared to dodge! Continue hitting the boss
until you win...

.. or so you think.

After defeating the first boss, a second boss will appear. Look down (you CAN
move around, still) and you'll find it, the afro marks the boss. See the gray
afro? A bit is peeking out below it that is NOT the afro. Aim for it.

Afterwards, your goal is to NOT hit the afro. It will become a pain to deal
with, trust me. Just aim for the face peeking out from behind it. Hit it five
times to end this boss.

9. Bonus Stage ("Play") ************************RAIDERS_9********************
This level is actually kind of special. Do you remember those enemies that
would bounce around each time you hit them? The light-blue-helmeted ones?

Well, in this level, you'll fight them one by one, doing what you can to not
drop them. You'll just have to do that.

One thing I found quite helpful is to shoot multiple times at the stationary
ones, and not really worry all too much on aiming in general. Sure, I would
try to hit it, but I'd rapidly press the A button the whole time.

Of course, it is just a level for scoring. Good luck!

10. Extra Stage ("Play") ************************RAIDERS_10******************
This level is just basically the Stage 1, 2, 3, and the Final Stage all mashed
into one round. You'll have to fight them sequentially, including the bosses,
which are now tougher. Your health also will be less able to heal (as the
health butterflies don't seem to appear too often). It is tough. The boss
changes are noted below.
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During the Stage 1 boss, the enemies will pop up during the first phase. Shoot
them all down, then aim for the boss's face. Additionally, during the second
part of the fight, the boss may be lower or higher than the spiky ball. Use
the proper timing; however, if the boss is high, hit the spiky ball on the
bottom. If it is low, hit the spiky ball on the top.
During the Stage 2 boss, it will not always transfer to the other wall in the
second phase -- it'll just peek out. For this, just always hit it and avoid
the projectiles that occur if you messed up.
During the Stage 3 boss, it'll just be quicker overall.
During the Final Stage boss, for the disco ball, you'll have to be really
fast, as the boss is faster. Much faster -- once the last cannon is there,
hit the crystal above it and continue going opposite the boss's rotation. That
will settle that problem, more or less, so long as you're fast enough. After
that, deal with the face in the disco ball -- the metal plates will come faster
and in larger quantities, so look out!
As for the second part of the Final Stage boss ... DO NOT HIT THE AFRO. Other
than that, it is worth noting that the boss's face, like in Stage 2, will only
take a small peek.
11. Stage 1 ("Show a Friend!") ************************RAIDERS_11************
Unfortunately for all of us, this game provides enemy swarms for each level
that are randomized for each time you play. Therefore, you're pretty much on
your own. However, I can give details on some new enemies and the boss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Enemy Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

During this level, you'll encounter enemies with yellow and pinkish helmets,
which are unadorned. Basically, you can shoot them. They'll shoot pink spheres
at you, or, in some cases, kiss you, but that's little to worry over.

The spiky balls are the real problem. You will want to hit them for points, but
there is a cost. They'll hit the in-game wall and send shrapnel at you. Prepare
to dodge that. You can also shoot the big chunks of the wall to stop it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This boss is unbelievably simple. Just shoot its face a few times, then the
red jewel on its forehead. Rapidly pressing the A button will do it.
12. Bonus Stage ("Show a Friend!") ************************RAIDERS_12********
This level is actually kind of special. First, you have to take a picture of
another person with the outer 3DS cameras -- pictures will work, you know.
Afterwards, a blue-helmeted enemy will appear.
In this stage, your goal is to hit it repeatedly and without missing in-between
hits so as to get many, many points. Your game ends sixty seconds after the
first enemy appears. Additional enemies will appear as needed to supplement
your needs.
One thing I found quite helpful is to shoot multiple times at the stationary
ones, and not really worry all too much on aiming in general. Sure, I would
try to hit it, but I'd rapidly press the A button the whole time.
Of course, it is just a level for scoring. Good luck!
13. Stage 2 ("Show a Friend!") ************************RAIDERS_13************
This level is, in all honesty, just a boss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[ Boss Stuff ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For the boss, you are simply to hit the correct face of the boss whenever
possible. This does NOT allow facial alterations, make-up, etc. Try to not
ever hit the boss incorrectly, as he'll shoot a bunch of projectiles at you.
It is best just to shoot at them rather than move off-screen. Also, at one
point, the boss does two fake faces. Just don't shoot for that.

That's pretty much it. Keep hitting the correct face until the red jewels
appear on the boss, then shoot them three times to win.
