Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is a spin-off of Animal Crossing where
you can decorate houses and house plots for your favorite villagers. The
interior design feature that was seen in previous games has been extended in
Happy Home Designer. You can decorate villager homes, schools, restaurants,
shops, and even hospitals. You can also redecorate villager homes if you
didn't like what you did.
This guide will cover subjects from how to decorate houses and buildings, what
are the minimum requirements of making villagers happy, how to use amiibo
cards, and a list of items you can unlock.

Creating a new character |

When you play Happy Home Designer for the first time, Tom Nook will announce
that a new member has joined Happy Home Academy. The first step is to name
your character. It can be based after you, your mayor from Animal Crossing
New Leaf, or a completely new character. Then you get to decide whether it is
a boy or a girl. After that, you will have the following steps to decide:
1. Eye shape and eye color
2. Hairstyle and hair color
3. Skin tone
When you are done, you will be told to change to your new Happy Home Academy
jacket. Go upstairs and change. When you come back down, you will decorate
your first house.
The first house you will decorate is Lottie's house. The description of the
house she wants is "with a lovely atmosphere". The first few items unlocked
are part of the Lovely Series, as well as a few other items. Although this
is your first house you'll be decorating, this is only your training.
The very first house after training is Goldie's house. She wants to be in
"a forest of books". The items in the boxes are a large bookshelf, a stack
of books, and a phonograph. You can decorate her house any way you like as
long as you use all three items in the boxes. When you are done, talk to
Goldie and tell her that you're done decorating.
The next house is Lopez's house. He wants to live in a "stylish house". The
items in the boxes are a glass partition, modern table, and high-end stereo.
Just like Goldie's house, as long as you use the items in the boxes, you are
free to decorate his house any way you like.
On the day after you decorate Lopez's house, another random villager will
appear. At this point, you can do what you want while using the furniture
provided in the boxes. But as the days continue progressing, more and more
features and items will be unlocked.

After Day 7, you will get to the point where you will get to decorate both the
outdoors and indoors of a villager house. There is a step by step process of
decorating villager homes.
1. Talk to a villager in Main Street (or use the amiibo Phone in the office
and place amiibo card.
2. Find a plot for the villager's house.
3. Choose floor plan.*
4. Decorate the house plot.**
5. Decorate the house.**
6. Finish workday.
*Must be unlocked through the Happy Home Handbook.
**Can be done both simultaneously and alternatively.
If you were doing public facilities, then here are the following steps:
1. Talk to Isabelle about building a new facility (or talk to Digby about
remodeling).
2. Decide building model.
3. Choose floor plan.
4. Decorate the facility.
5. Finish workday.

The First Steps |
----------------------------------------|
You begin a new workday, so you begin to wonder what you should do. Here are
some things you can do before you start working:
1. Updating your looks - if you have unlocked the styling machine, you can
update your looks. Unlike ACNL, you can actually change your eye shape.
You can also change your skin tone. Of course, there's hairstyles, hair
color, and eye color. You can even use hairstyles of the opposite gender.
2. Updating your uniform - as you complete more villager requests, you will
unlock more clothes for your character. The only restriction when updating
your outfit is that you will be forced to wear the HHA Jacket. So no shirts
or dresses will be available. But you can use hats and accessories. Not
only that, but you don't need socks or shoes. You can go barefooted. You
can update your uniform by using the changing closet upstairs.
3. Pattern Machine - although you can redesign patterns anywhere, you can use
the modern sewing machine upstairs to design pro patterns. You can also
read QR codes or create QR codes, just like in ACNL. Reading QR codes
doesn't even discriminate against ACNL QR codes, so the patterns made in
ACNL can be introduced to ACHHD and vice versa.
4. Visit your clients - you can do this by reading the list of villagers and
non-villagers you previously worked on. You can admire your work by doing
this, or you can have villager parties.
5. Visit the public facilities - you can also visit public facilities and see
the work you have done. Plus, you can chat with animals, assign roles, and
invite animals to the attraction. You can only have six animals per room,
depending on the situation.

7. Browse the HHN - please read "Happy Home Network" in this guide to learn
more about this.
You can also write report, but you don't want to do this while it's daytime.
That would mean another day is wasted, but you can do this if you don't have
time to do something.
Aside to the leisure time in ACHHD, you can begin your workday. That's when
you start the big picture. There are six ways you can begin your workday.
1. Talk to a random villager outside. There are four per day, but you can only
accept one. Choose what interests you best.
2. Use amiibo Phone. You can make villager requests less randomized by using
the amiibo cards. This is also the only way you can unlock special
characters like Isabelle or Tom Nook.
3. Grand Remodel - when you visit a client before your workday, you can talk
about remodeling. The house plot and house plan will remain the same, but
you can change the layout of the house plot and the design on the inside.
4. New House - if you want to come up with a completely new house for a
villager, you should try this. You get to choose another plot and another
house plan.
5. Talk to Isabelle. For the first few days, you can see Isabelle in the
office. You will get to build public facilities for the first time, but
once you build all ten and remodel the school once, you won't get to see
her in the office anymore.
6. Talk to Digby. In case if you want to remodel public facilities instead,
you can talk to him. You get to choose what facility you want to remodel,
then the big picture starts.
Once you choose what you want to do with the workday, you will move to your
next step. If you're choosing to design a villager's house, you will be given
a map with all the plots available. They are all the same size, but you won't
be able to design as much land if you choose one with a water body or edge of
a cliff. To choose a plot, use the stylus. If you don't like the season the
plot is set in, don't worry. You can tap again to change season. You have only
four seasonal settings possible, so if you're looking for any plot with snow,
some don't even have snow.
Places you can place villager plots:
1. On or near the mountain
2. Aside the beaches or on islands
3. Near the river
4. In the desert
5. Near the train tracks
6. In the middle of the forest
Once you pick your preferred plot and season, you will move onto choosing the
house plan. If you're choosing to design a public facility, the first step is
to choose what model you want the facility to be. Some will always have the
same model no matter what, but only in different colorations. Here are the

NOTE: You will have two shops on Main Street. One is on the upper level, and
the other is on the lower level. They both have the same purpose, but
they don't have to be the same shops.

The third step is to choose what layout you want to work with. If you like
to decorate large rooms, I recommend the larger layouts. If you like to
decorate small rooms, I recomment the smaller layouts.

If you see the "|" or "--" spaces, those were only meant for fillers to keep
the layouts more accurate and less messy. They don't add any additional
spaces, so they can be ignored.

Designing a home or facility |
----------------------------------------|
Once you choose what plot you want your villager at and the house plan (or
facility model and facility layout), you will begin the big picture of the
game: designing a house. On the outside, inside, or both, you will see a few
boxes, if it's the first time you're decorating for a villager. In order to
fulfill the villager's request, you must have the items provided in the boxes.
Other than that, they'll be happy with anything, from designs that are rushed
or didn't have anything else but the items provided in boxes to designs that
are overly decorated.
When you design a house for the first time, here are some tips to keep in
mind:
1. Animals would want a specific theme for their house. They provide a few
boxes in their house. You must use the items provided in boxes to fulfill
their requests. When you remodel their houses, they'll be fine with any
layout with any furniture.
2. New items get unlocked. You will see a lot of furniture pieces, clothes,
and even plants. Some animals may unlock the same items. In addition, the
more items you unlock, the fewer you will see with future animals. Chances
are, you may only unlock their pictures. When you remodel their houses,
there won't be any new items unlocked.
3. If you're decorating a facility, Isabelle will be with you. Just like
villager homes, more items will be unlocked as you move onto new
facilities. But when you remodel, you still have required items, as Digby
will be with you.
When you're decorating, moving them the classical way (where you hold down A
to push, pull, or rotate) is much slower and not as efficient as it was in
ACNL, so I recommend using the stylus when it comes to dragging. Besides, you
can use the stylus to drag items to unreachable spaces.
Some rules to Home Design:
1. All house plots have a maximum of 8x12 spaces outside. Water bodies and
cliffs do occupy spaces. Although there are three plots with all land
available, it's always nice to have bridges and unique landforms.
2. Smaller house models are more space efficient, but larger house models
look nicer. There's a sacrifice to pick.
3. Main items, rugs, and patterns as items are the only items you can use in
both outdoors and indoors.
3a. Architecture and plants are exclusive to the outdoors.
3b. Interior backgrounds (i.e. curtains, wallpaper etc.), wall items, and
ceiling items are exclusive to the indoors. They are in both houses
and public facilities.
4. Each space is broken into four smaller spaces. You can now position items
with small spaces in between, but items take up full spaces.
5. You can only place 64 items maximum PER ROOM. This includes rugs, plants,
wall items, ceiling items, and tabletop items. If there are four rooms,
including the yard and the additional rooms in the house, you can only
have up to 256 items in the entire plot.
6. Just like in previous games, if there isn't enough room for an item, it
won't be placed in that area.
7. Anything can be stacked on rugs, but only tabletop items can be stacked
onto tables. No rugs can be stacked upon each other.
Of course, there are some required items, but those aren't necessarily
restrictions of designing. Why? Because villagers will be happy with any
layout once you remodel their homes.
Tips of Home Design:
1. To place an item, browse one of the menus, and select what items you want.
Tap it to see it come inside the house or yard.
2. Different colors represent different items being used.
2a. Pink - on the outside, that is the house. On the inside, those are the
walls.
2b. Blue-green - interior items.
2c. Green - exterior items.
2d. Yellow-green - small, tabletop items.
2e. Orange - plants, floor items, and wall items.
2f. Blue - rugs.
3. To move an item, use the stylus to hold down onto an item and drag it.
4. You can move more than one item at once. To do this, hold down the stylus
on any empty space, and move it to draw a box. If the box selects certain
items, you can move all of them at once when you drag them.
5. To rotate an item, tap an item with your stylus without holding down.
5a. Perfect square items will rotate freely no matter what.
5b. Rectangular items can rotate freely when they aren't near any other
objects or a wall. If they are, they will only rotate in a 180-degree
turn.
6. When you tap an item while holding down the L button or R button, you can
duplicate the item, thus creating a copy.
7. Some furniture pieces have + signs instead of dots. Those include tables,
bookcases, and some storage furniture pieces. This means that some small
items can be stacked on top of them.
7a. The yellow-green items with a circular shape are small items that can
be stacked on top of the tables. Those include small plants, most fish
and insects, food, and a few other items.
8. You can also modify some items. Items like the Green Series items, the
Modern Series items, and even some foods can be changed. To modify them,
drag them to the toolbox, and select what color, design, or food you want
for the item.
8a. When the design says "use clothes fabric", tap the box inside to pick
what shirt or dress you want for the pattern.
8b. When the design says "use custom pattern", tap the box inside to pick
what pattern you want for the part that uses custom patterns. It's
perfect for designing flags, bedspreads, and signs.
9. If you don't want the item, you can drag it to the trash bin to remove it
from the plot.
9a. This works even if you drag more than one item at once.
9b. If you made a mistake, you can tap the trash bin and tap the items you
discarded.
9c. If you throw away any copy of a required item, the villager will
respond in a shock.
10. While designing, you can drag your character or the animal around. You
can place them on chairs, beds, or some other random location.
Another observation when doing home design is that some furniture pieces
function exactly like how they did in Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf.
Some of them function the same way both ways, whether you're just visiting or
you're designing. Others don't have the same function in both modes. For
example, the doughnut box opens and closes in design mode, but in visit mode,
you will only see your character pick up a doughnut instead of opening or
closing the box.
- On/off items and open/close items, which include boxes, lamps, TVs, and
machines, can still be used when tapping the A button nearby.
- Simple action items (like the guitars and some kitchen tools) can also be
used when tapping the A button.
- You can change the music in music players, but only when designing.
- Since you have no items to store in ACHHD (as you can simply bring out items
from the menus), the storage furniture pieces (such as dressers and the ABD)
will not function the same way they did in ACNL. They'll function just like
how they did when you're visiting another house in previous AC games.
- You can still hop onto chairs, benches, and beds. The two ways of doing this
are getting on them like in previous AC games, or by dragging your character
around and placing them on these types of furniture. You can even access
furniture pieces that are obstructed by other items. An exmaple would be
that you put an armchair in front of a computer, and you can move your
character into the armchair facing the computer.
- Furniture pieces that you can place items on top of have the "+" signs
instead of dots.
- Display only furniture pieces (like house plants) are still display only.
- Flowers will never wither, and you can't shake trees.
While designing the house, one thing you will obviously notice are the tabs
at the top of the touchscreen. You have six tabs to browse through.
1. Architecture - this menu may not bring out new items, but it does update
the interior and exterior designs. This includes, but not limited to, the
doors, the windows, the roof design, and even bridges. The exterior menus</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
are more for the house design while interior menus change the background
features, like doors and wallpaper.
2. Items - the mainframe of the house design. All household items, lifestyle
items, special items, and clothes go under this tab. This applies to both
indoors and outdoors.
3. Plants/Wall and Ceiling Items - these are additional items that would
enhance the villager homes and public facilities. When you're outside, you
can plant trees, shrubs, and flowers. You can even place them dead close to
items you couldn't place by in ACNL. On the inside, you can place wall
items and ceiling items.
4. Rugs - on both the indoors and outdoors, you can add rugs to the house,
acting like exterior paths or place settings for houses.
5. Patterns - just like in ACNL, you can use patterns for anything, such as
rugs, clothes, curtain patterns, and wall and floor design. You can even
redesign some patterns while working on the homes.
6. Search - if you couldn't find what you're looking for, you can use the
search function. You can find out what's new, search for a specific item,
or sort by color.

Once you are done decorating a villager's house, you can talk to them about
continuing to work on them, cancelling their project, or confirming your work.
If you confirm, the villager will like your design and celebrate what you did.
Of course, if you didn't like what you did, you can always go back and remodel.

After your workday |
----------------------------------------|
When you come back to the office, you would realize that you won't be working
on anymore animal homes or facilities for the day. Based on how much time you
spent working on an animal's house or facilitiy, you would see different skies
after the workday. If you spent a while, used your best efforts, and did a lot
of decorating, you may catch the early night sky. On the other hand, if you
didn't spend too much time, or if you rushed, you would only finish by the
evening.
After your workday, you can do the following:
1. Updating your looks
2. Updating your uniform
3. Pattern Machine
4. Visit your clients
5. Visit the public facilities
6. Read the Happy Home Handbook
7. Browse the HHN
You can do all of these things before your workday as well. The only
difference: you won't be given the options to remodel.
If you don't feel like doing any of the above, all you can do is write your
daily report and go home. At this point, you can either save and continue to
work on the next house, or save and quit to stop playing.

Visiting a house or facility |
----------------------------------------|
While on break, you can visit a villager house (including special character
houses). To do this, browse your clients and tap on who you want to visit.
Most of them have the same backgrounds. If they have an amiibo card background
instead, it means you have collected their amiibo card.
When you're at a house, you can chat with the villager to talk about their
experience. You won't see them when you enter the yard for the first time
during each visit, but you can meet them at the house. After that, they will
follow you wherever you go as long as you're on their property.
Two things you can do while visiting besides chatting or looking at the
work you have done:
1. You can change your outfit. Since you're not at Nook's Homes, you don't
have to wear your default uniform. Just like in design mode, you can drag
your character to the clothes section of the left side fo the screen. Over
there, you can change your character's clothes. You can even wear dresses
while at a villager home. Keep in mind that you cannot save your outfit
while visiting, and once you leave and return, you will be wearing your
HHA uniform.
1a. You can also change villager outfits. Just like the human, you can drag
animals to the clothes section. You can only change shirts, dresses,
headwear, and accessories. And the outfit you put them in will be
permanent until you reset their outfit.
2. You can invite animals over. To do this, you must use the amiibo card
of the villager you want over. You can only invite a maximum of three other
villagers to the main villager's house. Also, they only say hi. You can't
chat with whoever you invite. The invitations also don't discriminate
between regular villagers and special villagers. If you leave, then return,
the villagers will still be at home.
2b. Some characters (like Kapp'n) will already have other animals visiting.
You wouldn't need the amiibo cards in order for them to visit.
If you're visiting a public facility, you won't be able to invite animals by
using amiibo cards, but you can still change your outfit or animal outfits.
The difference with animal outfit updates is that the outfits apply to their
uniforms rather than their permanent outfit. This includes guests, students,
teachers, and staff members. When you re-visit the facilities, you won't see
the same animals, but they still wear the same uniforms. In addition, you can
assign roles to animals, so some will be the workers as others would be the
visitors.

|| 3. Unlocking New Features ||

When you start playing, you won't have every feature unlocked at once. You can
unlock more features as you progress further in the game. This isn't just
limited to new items. By default, you will only have the options of placing
wall items, carpets, wallpaper, floor and tabletop items, and browsing menus.

Unlocking by Day |

For the first ten days, you will be able to unlock new features by day. After
that, future daily unlocks will be based on progress rather than days.
Day One:
You will start out decorating Lottie's house. Although this is the first house
you'll be decorating, this is just a tutorial on how to play ACHHD. You will
only have items related to the Lovely Series.
Day Two:
You will decorate your very first villager's house - Goldie's. You have more
items to use, and a few boxes containing what she wants for her room. From
this point of the game until you unlock choosing layouts, you will only deal
with decorating 6x6 rooms.
Day Three:
You will decorate another villager's house - Lopez. Just like Goldie, he has
a specific request with a few boxes. As long as you use the items provided in
the boxes, he will be happy with any layout you give him.
You will also be able to visit Goldie's house and unlock the animal invitation
feature (with amiibo cards).
Day Four:
You will start seeing random villagers appearing outside on Main Street. There
are two to choose from, but you can only do one per day.
Day Five:
You will begin seeing Isabelle. However, you won't be doing public facilities
until the next day, so you can only decorate villager homes for this day.
Day Six:
You will be working on your very first public facility - the school. It starts
out as a schoolhouse, and you're required to have at least four tables, four
chairs, and a teacher's desk.
Day Seven:
The day begins with an opening ceremony, just like the Public Works Project
ceremonies in ACNL.
After the ceremony, you will meet Carrie. This will be the very first villager
house with a yard to decorate. You will get to choose where you want her to
live and what season her plot should be. After this house, you will be
decorating both the exteriors and interiors of each house.
Day Eight:
A new feature is unlocked. You can now use the amiibo Phone to choose who you
want to decorate for without choosing random villagers. You can either choose
between a random villager or a villager on an amiibo card.
Day Nine:
A new feature is unlocked. You can now learn from the Happy Home Handbook and
unlock even more features. This requires using play coins.
Day Ten:
More Public Facilities will be available. You can only choose between the
hospital, the café, and the first shop.
When you get to this point, you can play the game regularly. But if you want
to unlock more public facilities, you'll have to decorate for the ones you
have available. Once again, you can only decorate one facility per day. Also,
if you want to start choosing layouts for each facility or villager house, you
must unlock it through the Happy Home Handbook. To unlock this course besides
using play coins, you must design the hospital. If you don't work on the
hospital, you will be forced to stick with 6x6 villager homes and small
facilities, as the course for designing larger layouts will never show up in
the Happy Home Handbook.
After the first set of facilities are completed:
On the first day after decorating the other three facilities available,
Isabelle will not appear as more land for Main Street will be unlocked. The
second set of facilities will appear on the lower elevation of Main Street.
You will get to choose between the following:
- Shop
- Office
- Restaurant
- Department Store
In addition, you will be given the option to remodel the school. In order to
start designing the third set, you must design all four of these facilities,
with the addition of remodeling the school. Not only that, but once you
remodel the school for the first time, you will unlock another feature - the
facility renovation feature. You can talk to Digby at any time if you want to
renovate any facility.
After the second set of facilities are completed:
The other two facilities to unlock are the Concert Hall and the Hotel. You
will design the Concert Hall first, which is east of the waterfall. After
that, you will be able to design the hotel. Once both the hotel and the
concert hall are completed, Isabelle won't show up at Nook's Homes anymore,
and you are free to decorate any way you want.

The other set of features can be unlocked when you study the Happy Home
Handbook. If you have enough play coins (the ones where you get by walking
with your 3DS in sleep mode), you can learn a new lesson and unlock features.
The only limits are that you can only learn one lesson per workday, and some
lessons require learning other lessons or progressing further in the game.
The first lesson you will learn is using ceiling furniture. This lesson is
free, and you will unlock ceiling items.
Here is a list of lessons, what features and items they unlock, and how many
play coins are required to learn each lesson:
* Custom Designs - 1 coin - you will be able to design your own patterns, as
well as use them.
* Even More Designs - 5 coins - you will be able to design pro designs, create
QR Codes, and read QR Codes. This can be done at the sewing machine
upstairs.
* Windows and More - 2 coins - you will unlock the feature where you can
choose between different door designs, window designs, and curtains. You can
even choose to not have windows in one room at all.
* Sound Scenery - 2 coins - you can change the environmental sounds inside a
room, to make it sound like you're underwater, in the wilderness, or even in
the city.
* Refurbishing - 2 coins - you will be able to modify furniture. This includes
the frame, the fabrics, light color, or even the menu.
* Happy Home Camera - 1 coin - you will be able to position a camera anywhere
as you visit. This doesn't have to follow your character.
* World Insects - 2 coins - all 72 insects will be unlocked as items to use
in houses and facilities.
* World Fish - 2 coins - all 72 fish and 30 seafood will be unlocked as items
to use in houses and facilities.
* Ancient Fossils - 2 coins - all fossil pieces, simple fossils, and fossil
models will be unlocked to use in houses and facilities.
* Art Collection - 1 coin - all paintings and statues will be unlocked as
items to use in houses and facilities, including both wall items and floor
items. Don't worry, there aren't any counterfeits, at least from my
experience.
* Choosing a Layout - 5 coins - you can now choose any layout when designing
a villager home or facility. When you do more remodeling, you will have
larger rooms and more rooms to place.
* Styling Machine - 5 coins - you can change your character's looks. This
includes eye shape, eye color, skin tone, hairstyle, and hair color.
Items can also be unlocked based on villager requests, but that will be
covered in another section.

One feature that is not in the previous games is the amiibo Card reader. If
you want to make villager requests less randomized, fill out special villager
requests, or invite villagers to a house, you will need to use amiibo cards.
What makes amiibo cards more special than other cards is that they have an
amiibo chip as thin as paper inside them. They can store data for the cards.

How to use amiibo Cards |
----------------------------------------|
If you have an older 3DS model, such as the original 3DS, the 3DS XL, or the
2DS, you will need an extra component, the Nintendo NFC Reader/Writer. It will
read amiibo information for your 3DS. If you have a newer model (new 3DS or
new 3DS XL), you wouldn't need the NFC Reader/Writer. There is an amiibo icon
on your 3DS that is meant for amiibo reading.
About the NFC Reader/Writer:
The NFC Reader/Writer is a separate device that can read amiibo figures and
card information. To use it, you must have the power turned on. When you are
using the cards, you must have it on and the transmitter/receiver pointing at
the 3DS transmitter/receiver. This will help the 3DS read information from the
cards.
- If the LED on the NFC Reader/Writer is blue, that means the batteries are
in good condition.
- If the LED on the NFC Reader/Writer is red, that means the batteries are
low. Unlike the 3DS, you will need to change the batteries when they are
low.
- The maximum distance between the 3DS and the reader in order to read/write
info is 7.5 inches (or 20 centimeters) away from the 3DS. Otherwise it won't
read the information.
- When you're using a card, the amiibo square on the back of the card must be
facing the amiibo icon on the reader/writer (or exactly on the icon) to read
information of the card.
Stuff you can do with the amiibo cards:
1. Invite villagers over to a house. The maximum amount of villagers you can
invite to another villager's house is 3. You also need to make the entry
clear to invite more villagers.
2. Villager requests. If it's the first time you're fulfilling a villager
request for the amiibo card, you will go straight to the table in Nook's
Homes and understand what the villager wants. If he/she is already in
your clients book, you will be given the option to just change the
furniture and designs in the house and plot, or make a new house for the
villager.
2a. This is also the only way to fill out requests for special villagers
like Isabelle, Tom Nook, and Digby.
3. Update client info. This way, you can save the data for your clients onto
the cards.

In ACNL, there were dream towns, where you can visit other people's towns
through the Dream Suite. In this game, there is a similar feature. Somewhere
downstairs, there is a computer on Lottie's desk. That is where you can see
others' creations over the internet.

Sharing your Work |
----------------------------------------|
When you finish decorating/remodeling a house or facility, you will be given
the option to share your work on the Happy Home Network. If you didn't, but
you wanted to share, you can view your clients list, which also includes
facilities. Tap on the client you want to share info about, and tap the red
computer at the bottom of the screen.
When you're about to share your work, you have two options. One of them is to
rename the theme of the villager's house or facility. Please keep it
appropriate, for it may be taken down. The other thing you can do is decide
whether you want to share the patterns used or make them display only.
Once you share the project, it will appear under the "Your Ratings" section
when browsing the Happy Home Network. Of course, if you didn't like the
picture, you can always visit, take more pictures, re-assign client info, and
update it through the client list.
If you have already shared your work of something you made in-game, and you
want to share something of the same villager or facility, you may have to
replace your old project with the new project. For example, if you shared
your first design of Isabelle's house on the HHN, then share a remodeled
update of Isabelle's house, you will delete your old version of Isabelle's
house as the new version takes over.

Browsing the Happy Home Network |
----------------------------------------|
While you're browsing the Happy Home Network, you will see six square tabs, a
bottom tab, two search tabs, and an exit tab.
The six tabs:

* New - see the newest projects shared by the players that play Animal
Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
* Popular - you can see what are the most popular projects, based on the
ratings of "cute", "cool", "unique", and "I'd live here!". You can sort
based on one or two of the ratings at once. You can only see the 40 most
popular projects.
* Challenge - every month, Nintendo will host a Wi-fi interior design
challenge. You get two exclusive items for the challenge. The winning
projects will be on spotlight on the second half of the month.
* Facilities - you can see the most popular projects based on each of the ten
facilities.
* Residents - you can see others' works on the same residents you decorated
for. You can even compare their works.
* Favorites - when you visit another project and saved their project to your
favorites, you will see your favorite designers and their projects. This
way, you can browse their projects without going through different large
pools.
Your ratings:
-------------
In this section, you can see all of the projects you shared on the Happy Home
Network. You can also see how high their ratings are. All ratings of your
projects combined will be your total ratings.
Search:
-------------
You can search by two ways. One of them is by QR codes of the projects, and
the other is by HHN Codes. If you searched by HHN codes, you can load up a
specific project.

Visiting others' projects |

When you browse the HHN, you can tap the heart icon to go straight into the
designer's project, whether if it's a house or facility. While visiting, you
can see the work they did AND rate their projects. If you don't like the
project, or if you don't think they are worth one of the ratings, then don't
rate at all. Each scale has a rating from one to three, where one means good
and three means best.

Unique - this scale rates how unusual and creative the project was.
I'd live here! - this scale rates how much you want to be in the project.

Happy Home Challenges |

Every month, Nintendo will come out with a new challenge for you to
participate in. Yon can only work on your project once. You can't suspend the
challenge or finish the design, then edit. Also, once you leave, you will
never get to visit your project again.

Q: How does this game differ from Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
A: It greatly differs from ACNL. While it enhances the entire interior design
feature, most features, such as making Bells, donating to the museum, and
taking care of your town do not show up in this game.
Question #2:
Q: Is this game any good?
A: It depends on the player. If you like interior designing in the previous
Animal Crossing games, prefer to play games with less challenge, or like
to show your creative skills, then go ahead and spend your money on this
game. If you hated interior designing, wanted a normal Animal Crossing
game, or prefer to play games with more challenge, then don't bother
spending your money on this game.

Q: Is this game worth its price?
A: Why not you read the question above?
Question #4:
Q: Are amiibo cards required to play?
A: No, but they are required to design special villager houses, design any
house without randomizing, or to invite villagers at other houses.
Question #5:
Q: Can I visit other towns?
A: The only thing you can visit is others' projects through the Happy Home
Network. There isn't a trading system or money making simulater in this
game, just like in ACNL.
Question #6:
Q: Can you change the time of the day and year in the game?
A: Unlike previous Animal Crossing games, you cannot adjust the time of the
day or year. However, you can choose any season when deciding the villager
plots. The Main Street's season reflects based on what time of the year it
is. As for time of the day, choosing between the evening or night depends
on how long you spent decorating a villager's house or public facility and
how much work you have done. The more work you do, the later it is at
night. You can also visit each attraction and client in the morning.

Q: How do I unlock the X Series?
A: All villagers will unlock at least some items you want. The most popular
furniture series appears to be the GracieGrace Series. Here are the best
villagers for each GracieGrace furniture series:
Gorgeous - Tiffany
Princess - Cookie
Gracie -
Sweets - Merengue
Card - Moe
If you want other sets like the Ranch Series and the Jingle Series, you
should try figuring it out on your own, based on how much information we
have as of now.
Question #8:
Q: Are amiibo Cards region-locked?
A: Yes, they are. A Japanese amiibo card won't work on a North American NFC
Reader/Writer.
Question #9:
Q: What's the upstairs 3DS for?
A: For downloadable content. When you're in a Nintendo Zone, you can download
information on the animal.
