What happens to the dead?
Ecclesiastes 9:5,10
For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know
anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is
forgotten. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your
might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or
wisdom in Sheol where you are going.
Psalms 146:4
His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.
Ezekiel 18:4
Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as
the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die.
Protect me in Hell and then remember me
Job 14:13
�Oh that You would hide me in Sheol,
That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You,
That You would set a limit for me and remember me!
Psalm 16:10
For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol;
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.
God did not leave Jesus in hell
Acts 2:25-27
For David says of Him,
�I saw the Lord always in my presence;
For He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.
�Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted;
Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;
Because You will not abandon my soul to Hades,
Nor allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.
Hell is different from Lake of Fire
Revelation 20:13, 14
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and
Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged,
every one of them according to their deeds. 14 Then death and
Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second
death, the lake of fire.
The price we pay for our sins is death
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:7
for he who has died is freed from sin.
God would not burn anyone
Jeremiah 7:31

Jesus compared death to sleep
John 11:11-14
This He said, and after that He *said to them, �Our friend
Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him
out of sleep.� The disciples then said to Him, �Lord, if he has
fallen asleep, he will recover.� Now Jesus had spoken of his
death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep.
So Jesus then said to them plainly, �Lazarus is dead,
