This Is A Must Read For Those Of You That Hunt

I am asking all of you that read this to share this story. You
might save someone you know a ticket!
I want to put this story out there for the ones that may not
know this.
I got a call from a friend saying he got a ticket from Louisiana
Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. I found this odd cause
this person would never do anything to purposely break the
rules. He proceed to tell me that his citation was for failure
to leave the either the head of the deer or a sex organ in the
ice chest after cleaning the doe he shot. Now, I admit that I
have done this same thing a couple of times accidentally not
thinking about it. It is clearly stated in the rule book and the
wildlife agents said that they are strictly enforcing it now. My
friend said he did not see it in the rule book but it is in
there in a different section from the tagging method. This is a
good example why you must read the rule book and know it back
and forth. One other thing he was told but didn't get a ticket
for was that you must also put your name, date, license number,
and sex of the animal on a separate piece of paper along with
your tag in the ice chest or storage container you are keeping
your deer in. Now, I haven't find this in the rule book except
if you are dividing the meat. I am calling wildlife and
fisheries to clarify and I will update this once I find out.
Please feel free to comment and add anything you know about this
topic.

Game warden said that in the past they were letting it slide but
now they are cracking down on it hard.

Guess they're trying to make up for lost revenues in license
sales. Take away our guns then we won't need Game Wardens at
all. Open that can of WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the more B.S. rules they start dropping on us, the less
people will hunt, which turns into a decrease in license sales,
which leads to less game wardens needed. Very dumb on there
part.
The part about proof of sex is in a whole different part
separate from the part about tagging a deer. It should be all
together. They did that crap on purpose so people would get
caught. This is some Ted Nugent crap!

Just wanted to give a update on this post. My friend went to the
court house today to settle this ticket. It was a four hundred
and fifteen dollar fine. Not a cheap one. They had trouble
finding it in the rule book and told him that they had never
heard of this before. I guess that shows how much of a douche
bag the game warden was by writing such a B.S. ticket!

Yeah, I have been hearing about this since the end of last
season. A campground buddy of mine said their dipstick
gamewarden (think Barney Fife's incompetence meets Arnold
Schwarzeneggers need for firepower from Commando and you've got
it) has been writing those like clockwork.
LDWF now requires that all deer in transport retain identifying
sex organs or a head, just like ducks. The "new" regulations are
on page 32-33 of this years booklet
(
http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/publication/35748-hunting-…
/>They are also now requiring a Resident Game Possession Tag go
along in the cooler with any deer or resident game animals of
any sort it sounds like, and there's a special tag that goes for
migratory birds. It used to be only for leaving your animals
with another person, but now it sounds like it is being required
to transport game animals AT ALL. Now, this is IN ADDITION TO
your Louisiana State Deer or Turkey tags, which are also
required to be physically attached to your deer or turkey. The
Resident Game Possession Tag is just a piece of paper with some
basic information on it, and nothing I have found really talks
much about it, but apparently it's hot ticket right now. You can
find the tags on pages 94 and 95 of your LWDF 2012-2013
Regulations Booklet
(
http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/publication/35748-hunting-…
/>you can click on the search bar and go to page 103 to see the
tags and print them).
I printed a few copies of each at the beginning of last year and
put them in a quart size freezer bag in my hunting bag with a
few extra quart baggies so that when I do put one in the cooler
with my deer it wont disintegrate in the ice and water. They are
cracking down on the processors too now, you can't bring your
deer to any processor without one of these attached and in your
cooler, and most of them can't or won't accept any deer from you
without this piece of paper. A processor I used to use on the
Texas/Louisiana border was telling me last time I was in there
that a few processors in Louisiana were in trouble for taking
deer without one or both tags in the cooler.
Is it fair? No. Is it clearly stated anywhere that I can find?
Nope. But I'll take the extra 5 seconds and fill out the piece
of paper to keep Barney Fife from writing me a ticket. All I can
say is that I sure am glad I haven't been stuck with a fine like
that. I don't know if I could afford to keep hunting at that
rate!
