Wildgame Innovations Micro 5 trail camera
By: xclusive1 Date: August 6, 2012, 8:28 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Poppa-o bought the wildgame innovations micro 5 game camera and
put it out 2 weeks ago with some corn. Me and him will review
this camera and give you the low down on this affordable trail
camera. The camera was about 88 dollars without tax at academy.
We will post pics if he has any when he picks it up. I also have
a 2 trail cameras I will put out at the time he switches his SD
cards. I will review those 2 cameras also even though they are
last years models. You can still find both these cameras for
sale on the Internet but not in stores so that's why I will do a
review on these.
I am very impressed with wildgame innovations trail cameras. I
think for the price, they give you good quality. I have tried
moultrie and primos in the pass and I am not a fan of either. I
also own a stealth cam that is good, I just don't like that you
have to reprogram your settings once you change the batteries.
Bigj uses this same stealth cam and can also give you the run
down of this camera.
Now for the specs on the micro 5

Poppa-o has got some good pictures from this camera thus far.
The only set back thus far has been when we first set it out, I
managed to put it on time elapse mode and it maxed out the card
in under 2 weeks which was not good cause we didn't get any pics
of anything interesting. The second run was more eventfull. Pics
of deer and other animals that totaled a little over 1300 pics.
Gonna put some of these pics up as soon as I get them so you can
see the quality. Stay tuned.

Go check out chasinggame.com. They test different cameras
thoroughly and post pictures. They will tell you which ones have
the most problems. Just to give up a example, they reviewed the
primos truth cams and said that they had a lot of various
problems with them. I bought one just to see if they were giving
correct information and found out they are spot on. To me, the
info they give is priceless when it comes to cameras.

Got the Wildgame micro-5. Had a little trouble figuring out how
to work it. Once it is set it takes good pics. Try it out in the
yard first to make sure you got it set right, hu Row. Lol. If
the sun is in the wrong place it'll white out the pic. Wish it
would tell you how many pics it took. Like the size. I can carry
it in my pants pocket.

For most of these cameras you have to face them towards the
north. The white outs and black outs in your pictures will
usually come in the transition periods. A lot of the cameras
have this problems. My WGI X6C hasn't had this problem yet. You
can still find these cameras on eBay, but not in the store. Just
about every cam will have some kind of issue. The top dog in the
industry is reconyx and unless you are willing to shell out 5 to
6 hundred dollars per camera you will always have to deal with
some type of problem like white outs, black outs, pictures that
are upside down, shutter clunk, and ect. With most outdoorsmen,
they buy cameras that are affordable so than can get more than
one. You just have to read all the reviews you can and do your
homework. www.chasinggame.com does a great job at reviewing
cameras and gives you a good picture of what to expect out of
the camera you are considering. They do not review every camera.
You will have to look at the reviews on bass pro shop and
cabelas if they didn't review a camera you are considering.
The new wave of cameras are small compact and has a lot of
features and settings that can get confusing. I recommend that
you always field test your cameras before putting them out so
you can work out any kinks if some may arise. I also recommend a
camera that a black flash. Deer will see that IR flash and get
spooked but not as bad as a white flash. Studies were done and
it showed that the mature deer will notice it and avoid it by
walking around it. If you are going to use a IR camera, move in
different places from time to time so they can not pin point
where it is every time. IR filters and wifi cameras will be the
new breed of cameras. They have a few out now, pretty soon
everyone will offer it along with gps tracking for camera theft.
Every year I get excited to see what's coming out and to see if
some one is getting close to giving reconyx a run for there
money and selling it to the consumer for a more affordable
price.
As soon as I get my hands on the pictures that poppa-o has I
will post them or if I show him how to do it and let him do it.
The camera is not top dollar, but it gets the job done plain and
simple and that's all that matters. Thanks guys for posting and
keep the topics coming.
