Here are some recent news stories about the Nigeria Immigration
Service (NIS):
Passport fees increased
The Federal Government of Nigeria increased the price of
passports effective September 1, 2024. The 64-page passport,
which previously cost 70,000 naira, now costs 100,000 naira.
This increase only applies to Nigerians living in Nigeria.
Technical issues with online passport service
The NIS confirmed technical issues with its online payment
platform for passport applications in August 2024. The agency
apologized for the downtime.
NIS deports Zimbabwean bishop
The NIS deported Zimbabwean Bishop Eben K. Nhiwatawi for
participating in the Methodist Church leadership election
process while on a tourist visa.
NIS receives operational vehicles
The NIS received two operational vehicles donated by the German
Federal Police to enhance border security and migration
management.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, ordered the
NIS to remove bottlenecks that are hindering the swift issuance
of passports.
NIS to investigate alleged misconduct
The Acting Comptroller General, Caroline Adepoju, ordered an
investigation into complaints of alleged misconduct against
officers in some passport offices.
