Reddit debate number 1: It is benefitial not to use weapons
By: ency Date: January 5, 2025, 2:14 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I should copy paste the posts from reddit to here.
"Might be a silly question. But is it possible to shoot down a
depth charge plane? "
https://www.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/1hs6qxo/comment/m5g06mh/?cont…
Sub players die faster than DD's and most of them don't have the
intelligence that is going to swing a battle in the first place.
Why would I give away my position to help them? MY team will
lose more by me turning on my AA and giving away my position
when I don't want to than it would by me saving the sub some
depth charge damage.
In short, Reddit forum member says that he benefits more if
alkey Sub takes more Dept Charge damage in. He as a DD with AA
Off stays unspotted even if he opens AA, buthis approximate
location can be seen by AA fire visuals.
So, he doesn't get spotted if he would help a Sub with AA, and
doesn't really lose anything. Even his location is most times
already known by enemies. So, it makes no disadvantages to the
DD if he opens AA to reduce alley Sub player damages.
He could not give any reasonable response to his AA off
preference opinion, only typicalky saying that he has higher
stats hence he is right in all opinions.
That makes him obviously lose the debate. A common sense debunks
him by saying that helping your team always benefits, and making
more planes and other damage benefits also his own final score.
Another debator there suggested to condact a demo to prove my
opinion. Well, make 2 battles, in one you keep AA off near alley
Subs plus why not to keep all weapons off during the battle, and
in 2nd battle use your weapons and help the team while you syay
unspotted. Or, make a demo where a Sub dies while no AA helping,
and a demo where Sub survives thanks to team AA.

Added a Poll to the toic header.

Does your team and score benefits if you support an alkey Sub
with AA while staying uspotted?
You may only select up to 2 options.
Yes
No
No, because revealing my approximate location by AA harms me
High Stats prove all opinions

Those who answered in the Poll as No, do you dare to explain
your opinion, nobody bans, nobody harms, only professional
methods and 90 euros are given.

Yes, because even if the Sub takes 1 bomb less damage he
survives longer and can longer benefit the team and me.
2 (40%)
Yes, because the more Dept Charge i shoot down the more score i
produce.

Like in the Reddit forum was explained i can repeat the counter
question: how it harms you?
You think that enemies will swim to you to kill you after they
see AA visuals?
Approximate location is almsot always known anyway, by minimap
either clearly as a previous location, or by concluding where an
unspotted DD is by looking other DD locations near other caps.
So, there is nothing to reveal anymore.
And do you think that someone rushes to kill a DD once it sees
AA fire?

The real reason why Wows community does not help Subs with AA
and even ignores DDs helping often like Top Youtubers and keeps
AA off even if a CV is anyway above them while nearby alley DD
keeps AA open is summarized like:
1. Not understanding AA
2. Not understanding team work
3. PR oriented selfish ignorance of team player
4. Not understanding how planes are created on CVs
5. Being scared of CVs
6. Hatred against Subs.
7. Not understanding that your own final score benefits from
shooting down Depth Planes.
In this debate the debunked Reddit person does almost all the
above points.
