Armchair Rommels
By: Greyza Badger Date: September 9, 2014, 3:51 am

Recently I've been in a few matches where, when it's obvious
we're getting chewed up, some expert :sceptic: tanker comes on
game chat to berate the rest of the team for his demise and our
loss. Usually this is in the most condescending manner he can
muster and that attitude really pisses me off. A foul mouthed,
swivel-eyed rant is understandable (sometimes), but the whole
"I'm better than you scrubs" stuff just makes me want to punch
kittens.
Do you get this much? If so, how do you deal with it?
I really want to call these people out and have a go at them,
but can't do with the hassle.
What ticks me off even more is that these fine specimens usually
end up half way down the results sheet. Even if they top the
sheet though, they still get my blood boiling.

Simple just ignore them. I hear them from time to time even some
bozo yelling at me to stop hiding behind cover and fight lol.
Look to see their contributions and its nil. Basically just mute
them. Thet aren't worth your time to respond.

Yesterday, lakeside, chap kept getting in my way as I was
shooting we had the valley tied down me, and another TD, kept
the reds bottled up and when they tried to get over we nuked
them, and this prat kept trying to get over the hill blocking
our field of fire, we both asked him to pull back, but oh no.
after the reds stopped trying to get through the valley,
and/died we headed for the lakeside road and again he did the
same thing. Then got killed and blocked the road. Must admit to
ranting a bit about that.

I used to get annoyed but now I enjoy their rantings. I imagine
their face turning purple and wonder how long they are taking
off their lifespan.
Had a guy this morning, not ranting, we won the game and he
survived. He gave a running commentary on his game. He spent the
entire match complaining. Fucking enemy lights spotting him,
fucking enemy tanks shooting at him, his fucking shots only
fucking tracking OpFor tanks. This went on for the entire match.
I imagine he is fun to live with

I don't hear it often, but I feel your pain. It is frustrating
to listen to. Muting is a good solution. Arguing with them
never seems to help.
I did run across one of these the other day. The map was mines,
and "E. Rommel" was sniping from the spawn and yelling over the
mic to let the reds come over the top of the hill in the middle,
because he couldn't shoot any of them. (we had control of the
hill top, so the reds couldn't come up without being torn up).
I told him that wasn't a good idea and he proceeded to rage.
The match came to the clean up phase (we were winning) and he
started yelling at a T71 driver (very good player by the way) to
go find the last reds.
You guessed it E. Rommel was at the bottom of the results.

I'm in the "mute" crowd on this. I usually mute them the second
they start because you just know what they're going to carry on
about and if you let them go on you get left with a foul taste
in your mouth. Funny thing is I started a random game the other
day and noticed a muted tweaker on my side. I am guessing that
once you mute them once they stay muted so if you ever run into
them again you won't have to put up with their bulls#@t.

It is fun though when things look bad and defeat looks
imminent...Rommel starts his rant and then the remaining few
pull a surprise win out of the bag.
Had this a few days ago on Live Oaks...we spawned NE and split
pretty evenly with me and a few others going along the train
tracks to the SW corner. The majority went W along the top of
the map. We ran into some opposition and it took a while to dig
them out but as we were crossing the river near the second
bridge, Rommel comes over the comms lamenting about how the main
push in the north had collapsed and that us idiots in the south
should have helped out. Well, we just rolled into the cap and
defended it easily for the win. I felt like giving him a hearty
"You're welcome!" after he grudgingly called it a "cheap win",
but I suspect this guy wouldn't be happy if he got all 15 kills,
a congratulatory BJ from his celebrity of choice and a record
breaking Lotto win just to round it off. Some people can't let
themselves be happy.
I should mute these clowns but if I hear them it makes me play
better, I guess, just to prove them wrong. I'm a contrary
bugger, you see...

I have a few solutions or rather ways that I handle
these...people, and I use the word people loosely. First thing
to remember is that it's some douche bad of a human that is
already dead and mad that he didn't get to steal everyone's
kills to get his top gun award. Here is a list of what I do, I
mention mute because it's already mentioned and generally I only
mute the annoying sound blasters that will not be quiet, my wife
and I like to listen to the ...bitches...
1. I just keep laughing at them as they speak and piss them off
even more. Telling them how funny they are and what not sends
them through the roof.
2. Every time they say something I cough, endlessly.
3. I sometimes just ignore them.
4. Ask if they have sand in their vaginas because they are
really bitchy.
5. This is my favorite. I ask where they are so I can come help,
then when they say they're dead because "everyone went to the
wrong side of the map" I just say, damn, you're out already?
Glad I didn't follow you or I would be dead too. Thanks for
taking one for the team and finding all the reds for us.
Yes, I'm an asshole, I own, I'm president of the assholes club
(always accepting new members), and I don't care how people
think I should play this game. I play to not only try and win,
but to kill lots and lots of other tanks. I try not to go ways
that I am used to seeing the red lemming train come down,
because those lemmings will over run me and take me out. When I
go out because I make a fool error, I laugh. These vermin are
usually drunk Hillbilly's or wanna be thugs and NOT
rednecks...lol (you had to be there for that one). I do get mad
if there is one tank left and he finds a place to hide and the
reds have two tanks, I know it's possible to beat them, you just
have to try. Well, that's my rant, I doubt this helped but it is
what it is.

I had one a few nights back on Erlenberg.
It came down to myself and another TD against 6 reds. I'm tier 7
and they are 8's and 9's. :hiding:
Rommel gets on the mic ranting about how we are all a bunch of
losers and that those two tanks that are hiding need to push
forward, mind you we're perched on the hill (east Spawn) sniping
the village, and if we had rushed in like the rest we would have
won. Then starts in telling us that we deserve what we get.
My spidey sense kicks in, the other TD blows up and sure enough
here they come to the left. I maneuver to get a better shot and
Rommel yells out that I need to just rush in and get the game
over with.
I finally had had enough and I got on the mic. I told him that
he needed to learn his tanks. I'm a tank destroyer, I don't rush
in and if you want this game over with then go back to the
garage. He never said another word. I don't know if I startled
him by replying or that I was a female or that I proceeded to
take out 2 reds before dying or maybe he did go back to the
garage but he never said another word.
When I looked at the scoreboard where was Rommel? You guessed it
at the bottom and that TD that was hiding? :snipe: Second.
