What's In A Name?
By: Corbantis Date: November 22, 2016, 2:31 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi All,
We haven't done this in awhile. Post the secret origins of your
gamertag. If deemed worthy...you might get a little sumthing,
sumthing.
SECRET ORIGINS: Corbantis (yawn, nothing spicy)
Originally I went with GuianSWG. Guian Darkfall was my handle in
Star Wars Galaxies, which I played from March 2004-until it
sunsetted in December of 2011. Figured if anyone recognized SWG,
then that would be a point of conversation to get other players
from SWG together.. I changed it during Beta of WOT, when I
heard someone pronounce the GT as Guoonan Swag.
Corbantis is from the original server name I played in SWG. And
was a Republic ship, and a star system in one of the Star Wars
books.
My other toons - Stir Fried Ewok (now Yoda) and Nutella DeGoat -
well you can guess the origins of those.

Squiggy and I had a friend at the time which I haven't seen in a

same team we thought it was funny hell we where drunk most of

Well, ok, I'll bite (no pun intended...or was there? :troll: ).
Anyway, ever since puberty (no, Brad, not last year!), when my
voice dropped several octaves, I discovered that I could *bark*
quite convincingly, like a dog. I used this talent *cough cough*
to some degree, for several things.
One of the most memorable was when camping with my family (must
have been around 13 or 14yrs old), we selected a secluded
campsite, well away from the others, on an unoccupied loop.
Immediately after getting everything set up, inlcuding the
camper, picnic table laid out, etc, as the sun was going down, a
group of loud music playing, shouting, and general carrying-on
people occupied the site right/next/to our site. They could have
selected any of the other 9 sites on our loop, but, no, they had
to pick the one next to us! Well, right away, my mother tells my
dad that we need to move to another site, as she is not going to
listen to that crap day and night for the next 6 days!
Somehow, and I don't recall whose idea it was, but probably my
dad's - I ended up in the bushes separating the two campsites -
about a 10m buffer zone - barking, growling, and generally
acting like a dog that was warding off intruders from his new
territory.
Within 10 minutes, the loud people were repacking what few items
they had unpacked, loaded up both vehicles, and left the entire
loop!
My mother was extremely happy, needless to say, and my dad said
I went at those people like a "mad dog". My brother, 1.5yrs
older, started calling me "Mad Dog", and the nickname stuck,
with my younger sisters, ages 7 & 6, really picking it up, and
rolling it into 1 word, "Maddog".
Some notables:
One of my team mates (O-line) wrote "Mad Dog" in permanent ink
on the back of my helmet in HS, so the coach started calling me
that, too lol
I had the name on the back of my intramural jersey when I played
dorm football at Sam Houston St.
I once scared a German Shepard so bad that he broke his CHAIN
trying to get away - he was blocking our access to a job in
someone's back yard.
When in the Army, at Ft Irwin on a deployment exercise, I threw
myself, barking/growling/snarling at the back corner door of the
old gymnasium where several infantry guys were bedded down
inside (we were on the other wall). My squad mates said they
came out of that corner as if shot from a canon, knocking over
sodas, canteens, playing cards flying everywhere...I had
preceded that with several barks and howls in the distance,
getting closer the whole time...had to have been funny to see
lol
My youngest sister, dainty flower that she is, has the same
[s]infliction[/s] talent. Often, at family gatherings, we are
asked to go out of sight and have a "dog fight".
The nickname is part of my own business, Maddog STS. I make
custom floor shifters for cars, mostly FWD Chrysler vehicles.

Buaya = Croc in a S.E asian native language. Which is also a
euphemism for a "Romeo". Although some would suggest "lecherous"
would be more accurate. :troll:
Here it's mispronounced as Boo-Ya.
Generalissimo? That's because I am the dicktator of SNS. :rolf:
