PROLOGUE
Rain rattled on the couple's roof.
It bugged Phoenix beyond any measure.
Why do we have to go through all this? Why are we so low in the
SkyWing hierarchy?
It's cause we're poor.
The thoughts ran through Phoenix's mind, and he began to drift
off into his thoughts.
"Phoenix?"
The gentle voice of Stratus awoke Phoenix from the prisons of
his mind. "S-sorry," He apologized. "I got lost in my thoughts."
Their 3 eggs sat in a soft bed of wheat plants, sticks and
feathers, like a bird's nest. Phoenix stared at his eggs.
They're due to hatch today. I can barely contain my excitement..
They'd already thought of a few names-- Thunderbird. Flicker.
Ledge. Raptor.
Phoenix whipped around and clutched the smallest egg in his
talons. He rested his ear on its shell, and he heard little
whimpers from inside.
They seem ready to come out already.
Suddenly, a loud crack echoed through the hut. Stratus snatched
the largest egg, and Phoenix set the smallest egg back down. A
red little leg had exploded from the shell. Another crack
appeared in the egg.. but instead of another crimson leg, a
bright amber one emerged.
Twins! What if they're fireborn and fireless? I can't give up my
dragonets! The thought ran through Phoenix's mind and kept
repeating and repeating..
Stratus put her talon on both the little legs sticking out of
the egg. "They both have just the same amount of fire," She
sighed in relief.
"Thank the moons," Phoenix replied.
Stratus cracked the top of the shell off, scooping up the twins.
"They both look just like us," Phoenix said.
"Thunderbird for the crimson male and.. Spark for the bright
orange female," Stratus declared.
"You got to name both?" Phoenix stubbornly retorted. "Then I'm
naming the other two."
Stratus barked a laugh. "If ya say so," she smirked.
Two cracks echoed from the second-largest egg. Stratus and
Phoenix stared on as a tiny red-orange male burst out from the
egg, onto the nest.
"Hoooow about Pyro?" Phoenix patted the little fiesty dragonet
on the head.
Pyro, Spark and Thunderbird all faced the last egg-- the
smallest, which was a glittering, amazing orange. Pyro poked the
egg, and it cracked near the side. Pyro started to pick at the
eggshell to help the dragonet out, and eventually, a small red
female was emerging.
"And for the last dragonet," Phoenix smirked. "She'll be
Cinder."
(If anybody's wondering why it's called "Beyond The Sea" but
there's a SkyWing-based prologue, it's because it's the hatching
of one of the main characters-- a SkyWing from a poor family
named Cinder. The other character is a SeaWing animus prince
named Omuras. The title's based off Omuras, by the way.)

CHAPTER 1
Prince Omuras shuffled his talons, his eyes locked on the
clamshell.
"Enchant this shell to, when tapped by Queen Lazulite, it will
glow with the color of the tribe that will attack us next, and
it will whisper when they will attack," he ordered. Queen
Lazulite immediately snatched the clam out of his talons and
tapped it. The clamshell shifted into a mud brown color. 21
days, the clam whispered.
Queen Lazulite's ears perked. She snatched a hermit crab's old
shell, and booked it towards the palace with Prince Omuras and
King Rogue Wave following.
"Meeting in the Royal Palace for the Army!" Queen Lazulite
yelled into the hermit crab's shell, and suddenly, the SeaWing
military appeared in the meeting room. It was another one of
Prince Omuras' enchantments-- to enchant the shell for when the
queen speaks "Meeting in the Royal Palace for the
insert-group-here!" into the shell, that group is teleported
into there and prevented them from leaving-- some examples of
the groups were royalty, a certain village, thieves, or the
army, but there were several others, and once the queen spoke
"Meeting dismissed!" into the shell, the group could leave.
"Prince Omuras has enchanted yet another item. A clamshell which
shows which tribe will attack us next and when they will attack
us! The clamshell has predicted that the MudWings will attack us
in 21 days!" Queen Lazulite bellowed. The general of the army,
General Betafish, nodded. "We will ready our army," Betafish
replied.
"Good." Lazulite said. "You have exactly 19 days to prepare for
battle. Meeting dismissed!" She screamed into the shell, and the
army left.
If only the SkyWings attacked, Omuras thought. So I could see
them without having to waste my animus magic.
He had been forbidden from casting any spell that Queen Lazulite
hadn't told him to cast. He'd pretended to be enchanted not to
be able to, but he actually still could. He had to hide it,
however, or he'd be severely punished.
Omuras slinked off to his room, leaping into his nest and lying
down for a quick moment of relaxation.
Why? he wondered.
Why do I have to stay here, being bossed around by Queen
Lazulite?
I wish I hadn't taken the Talons of Power test.
He buried his snout in his nest, finally letting a single
teardrop drip down his face out of stress.
Suddenly, the door to his room was opened, and Omuras wiped away
his tear, glancing towards the door.
It was Lazulite.
"Omuras," Lazulite bellowed. "I need you to enchant something."
OH, COME ON. Omuras thought.
"What?" Omuras groaned, getting to his talons.
She gave him a rock. A simple rock.
"What do you want me to do with this?" Omuras asked.
I bet it's gonna be some weird spell to help the army.
"I need you to enchant that rock to, when tapped, morph into a
barrier that kills any dragon from other tribes-- except
messengers-- that dares to come into our kingdom."
