Prologue
Beach Fontana, Phyrria. 20xx
A tall woman, late 20s maybe early 30s, with blonde hair pulled
into a tight bun, watched silently as the mysterious egg stayed
still. Her husband and herself had discovered it on the beach
just a few days ago. They had done test after test to discover
what creature it contained, but both were unable to make the
discovery so they were going to have to wait for it to hatch.
The woman sighed and place her clipboard down and tucked her
pencil into her bun. The egg moved. Her eyes widened as it
continued to sway from side to side rather aggressively. She
laughed as a piece broke off, the woman ran to the only door in
the room "Herald! Get in here!" she yelled.
A man came in, maybe his middle 30s and black hair with his eyes
framed by glasses, he looked at the woman "What is-" the egg
cracked loudly and a small scaly taloned hand poked out. The two
stared at the hand in amazement. Another one came out and broke
more of the shell out. A mouth with strange patterns poked out
then the rest of the heads.
The two humans stared at the little thing as the egg pitched
over sending the little creature out. It sprawled out of its egg
and looked around. Its blue eyes landed on the two strangers
while its tail slowly swished to the sides, was it supposed to
be wagging?
The two scientists looked at the aqua colored alligator-like
creature then at each other. The creature was a dragon.

Chapter 1
A knock came from the door. I rolled over in my bed to look at
the door. Another knock. I groaned "Come in!" I said. The door
knob turned and in walked my adopted mother. She smiled softly
with her dirty blonde hair in a tight bun. 'Its always in a
tight bun,' I noted.
She stopped smiling "Do you know the time Marcus?" she asked. I
looked at the alarm clock next to my bed. In bright green
digital numbers it flashed 7:30 A.M. My mind was still trying to
process it.... CLASSES STARTS IN THIRTY MINUTES.
I sat up "I'm gonna be late again!" I said. She nodded and left.
I scampered out of the blanket as it tried to keep me in bed. I
tripped and fell onto the floor. I groaned again. Great, I'm an
anime school girl who's going to be late with a stupid piece of
toast in my mouth. My phone buzzed and music filled the air. A
soft low melody. A song I had remember hearing from near the
beach. Beach Fontana was roamed to be where dragons had once
lived near. My mind came rushing back as I grabbed my phone and
turned the song off. I really needed to get dressed and going.
I busted into the classroom and sat in my seat. Everyone watched
me as I stared at the whiteboard. The teacher, Mrs. Duke, gave
me a look like it wasn't new and started writing on the board.
Today's lesson: History before history- prehistory.
I felt the soft tingle of magic rushing to my fingers as I
mumbled a spell. I touched my pencil "I enchant this pencil to
write only any notes important that written on the board or if
its spoken and to reappear in my pocket if it goes missing," I
muttered. I was glad to always be sitting in the back because I
was the only person back here. I let my pencil go and it started
to write.
In the history of phyrria, not much is known about before
written history. Old scrolls and scraps of paper have been
found. It often depicts of small creatures that are believed to
be humans but is written down as 'scavengers' most likely these
creatures were monkeys or apes.
Someone raised their hand. A smile pulled onto my face. Mrs.
Duke sighed "Yes Mrs. Gallows?" she asked.
Emily placed her hand down "But scavengers are humans, the
former scrolls were written by dragons," she said. A small
snicker passed through the class. Emily seemed unfazed, she
always pointed out dragons were real. She touched her necklace,
an item she claimed dragon gave to her. The story goes, as soon
as she placed the necklace on she could understand the dragon
and it could understand her then it explained that if she
encountered any other dragons the same thing would happen. Her
obsessions with dragons is weird, I should know because I didn't
give her that necklace even if I managed to enchant my own
bracelet to look the way I do, I rarely use my magic.
A sigh came from Mrs. Duke, she was glaring at Emily "Mrs.
Gallows, we've talked about this, dragons don't exist," she
hissed the last bit. I wanted to laugh but kept to myself, I
didn't want to be found out. Emily fiddled with the emerald
jewel. She opened her mouth to speak but Mrs. Duke just glared
at her and Emily shut up and went back to writing.
When we got out of class, Emily was immediately at my side "Can
you believe that lady? Telling me dragons aren't real," she
complained.
I gave a soft smile "Well I believe you," I said.
Emily smiled back "Really?" she asked.
My smile widened "The day I grow wings," I joked. Emily pouted
and punched my shoulder. Sometimes these moments make me want to
tell (read as reveal to) her I'm a dragon. Alas I cannot. As we
got to our lockers, a hand dropped on my shoulder. I froze
completely.
The person leaned into view "Heya nerds," Jace said. He released
my shoulder and leaned up on the empty wall next to Emily. I
deviled into my locker, trying to fight to raging blush on my
face 'stop it. Stop thinking about him. He's into girls and he's
your friend. A really cute friend. Who's attractive and looks
really cute with his big goofy smile and loud adorable laugh.
AAAAAGGGGHHHH STOP THAT,' I slammed my locker and my jacket
sleeve got stuck. The one time I wear the swim team jacket and I
get it caught in my locker. I started fiddling with combination
lock to get my sleeve out. Jace laughed his really cute loud
laugh at what just happened. Emily was looking at me like I was
crazy. Maybe it was my flustered red face or that I was wearing
the swim jacket. I didn't really care, I just wanted to get my
sleeve free.
By lunch, my day was horrible. My phone had gone off in class
and I couldn't get it till the end of the day, someone almost
saw my pencil magically writing on its own, a girl had tried to
steal Jace while I was talking to him, and then again some jerk
tried to steal my freaking bracelets while calling me a f*g in
the process. Lunch was better since its a off campus thing for
seniors and juniors. I'm glad to be a junior.
At lunch I go off campus for a swim. Not a having fun swim, a
hunting swim. I like fish, they taste delicious and even in my
human form, I have my dragon sized appetite. I parked my bike
near an empty beach. I walked down and looked about the area to
find a good changing place, cliffy area almost hidden by the
overhang. Score. I hid and started to undress, placing my
clothes in my duffle bag (ya know to make it look like I had
brought a swimsuit) and placing my bracelets in. The change was
quick and easy. The human form vanished and I was a dragon
covered in faded aqua blue scales and weird dark blue spots. I
slipped into the water before anyone could see me.
