Rossi .223

Dropped by the local Dunham's store today and looked around.
Shelves were empty of ammo, and only a handful of guns left.
The sales person said they have been slammed the past week. I
did notice a Rossi .223 single shot with a bull barrel sitting
all alone on the self. Priced @ $199.00, it was tempting to
snag for a brush gun for predators. Anyone have any dealing
with a Rossi? Will they shoot half-way descent?

I don't have to tell you guys that one of the main things to a
shooter is the trigger. Having said that Bro Yotes, make sure
it's unloaded, pick it up, pull the hammer back, squeeze it. You
might be surprised. I know I was on the H&R Handi-Rifles. If the
Rossi bull barrels shoot like the H&Rs, you won't be
disappointed. My grandsons H&R 204 shoots a 3 shot group at
100yds you can cover up with a dime. The trigger is crisp and
I'd guess around 3-1/2 lbs.
Plus, you never have to look for your brass. ;)

The trigger did feel decent...shootable....around 5-lbs. The
heavy bull barrel is what caught my eye. I think it would make
a great brush gun for shots 150 yards and closer.

They are a good rifle but "some" have a tendency to shoot a
pattern rather than a group. The single shots can be quite picky
with ammo too. You reload, so I think you can work through this.
Should have a 1-10 twist, Work up 5-6 diff. loads up to 65 or
70gr. and see how they work out for you.

I have done some research on the Rossi since last night. Some
love them and some hate them....as with anything else. I do
think since I relaod...I can work up a load she will like. May
just give it a try after Christmas if she is still there.

I would probably snag it anyway, I don't believe Rossi makes
their atandard wood in the 223 heavy barrel anymore. They still
have 223 HB, but they are synthetic with a monte carlo and a
removable cheek piece. You may have a shooter there.

If Santa don't get her....I will see if she is still
there....According to Rossi...they use "Button Rifling" on the
heavy barrels for increased accuracy
