| Whats your fav handgun and why? | |

| My vote is for Old Slabsides, the 1911 .45 acp. When I took the | |
| Hunters Safety course back in the mid sixties my Instructor let | |
| us shoot his 1911 pistol and from then to now it is my favorite | |
| pistol. This gun has been around for over 100 years and is more | |
| popular today than ever. Almost every handgun Manufacturer still | |
| produces this style of handgun. I carry a Smith and Wesson 1911 | |
| and while it is a bit hard to conceal I never leave home without | |
| it. I shoot this gun often and alot, I had to buy a progressive | |
| reloader to keep me supplied with ammo. This gun functions 100%, | |
| no feeding or ejecting problems at all. Theres lots of good | |
| handguns on the market today but I'm totally comfortable with my | |
| Smith. | |

| Colt .45 1911. Love this gun for its history and performance. | |
| Feel like I'm shooting a piece of history. | |

| I have never owned a handgun. I do plan to get my concealed | |
| carry permit this summer. I think the first handgun I buy will | |
| be a Glock 17 9mm or similar. I like the way the gun feels and | |
| shoots. | |

| Glock is a fun gun to shoot. And a 9mm ammo isn't too bad on | |
| the wallet. | |

| The Glock will serve you well. They're very easy guns to shoot | |
| and the 9MM at Defensive ranges will do the job. | |

| That's what I am thinking. Myself...my wife...and both | |
| daughters are getting our concealed carry permits. Any | |
| suggestions on a handgun for a woman? The Glock may be to big. | |

| I'd let them try the Glock first and then decide if its too big. | |
| Theres lots of good compact 9MM's or even a compact .380. Before | |
| buying them pistols try going to a local range that rents guns | |
| and let them try shooting a few different guns, see what they | |
| like and what they can handle. | |

| Good idea....guess i'm worried more over what caliber to get | |
| than anything. | |

| You might consider a .38 Special for the daughters. Charter Arms | |
| makes some real nice revolvers, well made and very reasonable. | |
| In auto's theres a company that brought out a .22 Mag that holds | |
| 30 rounds, thats a lot of firepower thats easy to shoot. Its | |
| made by Keltec, model PMR 30. I've been giving that one a lot of | |
| thought, .22 Mag has plenty of stopping power at close range and | |
| has almost no recoil. | |
