Hunters for the Hungry, (H4H) is running about 60,000lbs short
this year. If you bag one, keep the mount, donate the carcass.
It helps the needy throughout the region.

I used to live and hunt in Virginia...the farm where I hunted
was covered in deer and it was not unusual for us to take 30-40
dear during rifle season...this year they took 7 and said they
are just not seeing as many deer any more...dunno what the
problem is...kinda hard to donate to H4H if you can't
choot'em...

Hey B, looks like the farm may be going through a detterent
factor or avoidance behavior. Your numbers above speak for
themselves. May need to back down from the heavy harvests and
not hunt those areas for a couple of years and give the
population time to regroup.

That could definitely be part of the problem...another problem
is that all of the farm is a deer habitat and their primary food
sources are other farmer's fields...some of the neighbors have
figured out when and where the deer are traveling and have set
up on the fence lines...they are doing this during muzzleloader
season and getting them before we get a chance...the owner where
we hunted does not, for some reason, allow us to hunt during
muzzleloader season...
We did plant food plots on the farm and the deer do use them but
it is hard to compete with the large corn and alfalfa fields...
