Breathtaking
By: Danielle Allen Date: May 22, 2016, 8:03 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Fox would see the Crystal Empire slowly disappear into the
distance. Soon the snow began to really pick up as the dark
mountains loomed ahead. The field and area around the place
looked completely uninhabited. Danielle stayed quiet during the
whole ride and just looked outside the window.
In an hour or two, they finally began to see towers, walls, and
checkpoints. Helicopters with spotlights flew through the
mountains. They had to go through so many security searches and
checkpoints that it extended the journey even longer. Finally
they reached a large building with soldiers patrolling every
inch of the place in addition to towers scanning the areas with
spotlights.
"Equestria's best snipers are on those towers. You know Morgan
right? She was apart of that operation that you were on."
Danielle helped Fox out of the Humvee and began to lead him into
the large building

Foxtrot remains silent throughout the trip, the vast expanse of
snow providing a desolate landscape to lose ones self to. As
they approach the base, he secures his things and readies to
depart. He notes the defenses as well, the towers and walls
must've been a challenge to construct in this environment. He
follows Danielle out of the vehicle. "Looks like you guys have
been dug in for a while." His ears perk up as he hears about
Morgan. "Yea, I remember her. That whole team sure gave the
Directors a run for their bits. Oh yea, hows that Walter guy?
Last time I saw him he got Swiss cheesed."

"They were a talented team." Another voice behind Fox would
answer. "Personally, I'm fine. The stallion that you were
referring to (Connor Cook. I swapped their names), Connor,
didn't make it. So let's have a little more taste with the way
we word things." He sighed. "Danielle get some rest, you've been
up all day and we need you for the night patrol. Fox, good to
see you again, but we got to hurry. Time is something we are
running out of."

Foxtrot bites his tongue when he hears the news. "That's...
sorry to hear. The guy saved my ass a few times during that
fight. But as you said, time is wasting, so lead the way."

Walter continues into the facility expecting Fox to follow.
Inside was hectic. Ponies in white coats and fatigues were
hurrying around is papers and other devices, oblivious to Fox.
"So we are working with a government organization that was
created to study both these asteroids. Most of the soldiers we
are working with are from the marines." Walter stepped into an
elevator after scanning his eye on the panel and holding the
door for Fox to step in.

Foxtrot follows, making sure not to bump into anyone as they go
through their business. Stepping into the elevator, he glances
over to Walter. "How long has this operation been going? Looks
like you guys have been hunkered over here for a while."

"Oh yeah. These asteroids were discovered years ago. Well, this
one was. The one we found in Appleloosa was recent, about a few
monthes ago. A base is set up but it's still vulnerable. This
particular base is nearly invisible. Only now have they begun to
react in a very strange manner. Of course... it comes when
Equestria is in uproar about terrorist attacks. Racism between
species has never divided up a country like this."
The elevator door opened into a narrow hallway that would
eventually lead to more sliding doors and eventually a huge room
with computer screens lining up the walls and huge ones lining
up the walls near the ceilings. Some of them showing diagrams of
the area they are surrounding while others showed graphs, waves,
signals, and radars. In the front, under the screens were huge
windows that revealed the asteroid. The room actually made a
ring around the asteroid with windows lining up the entire
perimeter so you could see it from every angle. In the room
instelf was a mission control styled facility. Lines of desks
lined up facing the windows that each had a Pony or Griffon
sitting at it staring at monitors while papers flew around the
room. The sound of tapping and low speaking voices filled the
air. Walt and Fox were up on a scaffolding like area that
overlooked the entire room. A stallion in digital camo fatigues
had his back turned to the new arrivals.
"Sir. Foxtrot has arrived." Walter stood up straight.

Foxtrot has to struggle to keep his jaw from doing at the sight
of the complex. The meteor itself is awe inspiring and the
complex's layout around it was magnificent. Years of preparation
he guessed. Still, to pull something of like this certainly
couldn't have been easy. A second meteor in Appleloosa? What he
wouldn't give for some warmer weather right now. No matter, he's
here and witnessing something a minute fraction of individuals
can share. As Walter addresses the stallion in the cool looking
camouflage, he can't help but feel a bit jealous of his attire.

Jennings perks his head up and turns around.
"Ah Foxtrot. Please to meet you." He holds his hoof out.
"Colonel Jennings. Pleasure to meet you. Sorry to call you out
on such short notice during such hectic times. We really
appreciate your cooperation though."

"The pleasures all mine, Colonel." Foxtrot adds as he shakes his
hoof. "You have me at a disadvantage here though. I don't know
what I can do to help; you guys seem to have this locked down
pretty well."
