The flesh and magic fabricant could not resist another sally.
"Oh, stop whining, Lucid. You look like you could use a bath,
what with those eggs."
Staring at the ground to avoid indulging impatience and running
off in the general direction of the noctral, kicking aside loose
rocks and twigs, Sadowi trailed after Asher and his floating
bloodstained bag and stopped when he did. His hoof missed a
swipe to step on an odd stick, crushing it into two, and it
shuddered beneath his grasp as more foliage walked along the
forest floor. With a hoof resting upon the pommel of his sword,
he watched the dogs construct themselves with an unchanged
casual eye, even snickering at the sight of the crippled
timberwolf, and after a few more seconds he unwound the crooked
metal instrument tied to his other front leg and swung it in a
lazy arc to test his aim and grip. "I'm sure it will be."

Bella continued flying, keeping the bird in her sights. She was
gaining, albeit slowly.... too slowly. If the bird didn't stop
soon, it would take far too long to catch up. To the noctral's
relief, she saw the bird dive down.
She reached the patch of tree where the bird had disappeared,
and unsheathed one of her daggers, gripping it in her teeth.
Taking a deep breath through her nose, she didn't let herself
hesitate further before she swooped down into the canopy.

"I don't think my drugs work on timberwolves." Lucid said
looking into the various bags on her. She did have another idea
as her horn and eyes glowed. A pink ring formed around both
groups and the ground turned black. Two nightmarish creatures
appeared behind her. They were her signature tall shadowy
creatures with long arms and sharp nails. The other arm was
covering half their face allowing only a bit of their glowing
red eyes to show. At the moment she wanted them to simply scare
the wolves away. Using them to attack would take a lot of energy
that she might need to save for that bird.

The timber wolves slowly advance on the group as they make their
preparations and use their magic, seemingly unfazed by the
formation of the nightmare creatures. The crippled one sets its
weight on its other legs and leaps forward...
...falling to the ground and collapsing into a pile of twigs,
leaves, and branches several feet short of Sadowi. However, it
seems to act like a kind of signal, and the rest of the pack
follows suit, yipping and snarling at the three intruders,
running up to bite and lunge at them. The crippled one reforms
while the rest attack and limps after them, looking quite
pathetic and distinctly non-threatening.
When Bella gets under the canopy, she's treated to a rather
majestic sight, should it be interpreted as such. It seems that
a large portion of the branch line consists almost solely of
branches from a single great tree. Its trunk grows high into the
air and its lowermost branches are near the top of the
surrounding trees. Where it does branch, the trunk seems to stop
entirely with great boughs stretching out in several directions
before curving up and closing back in around itself much higher,
creating a kind of dome with one conspicuous hole through which
the bird had entered.
Atop the split of the initial branching sits a large nest,
easily as large around as Ponyville's schoolhouse. The nest is
made largely of branches that look to be the same kind of wood
as the tree itself, giving it a sort of camouflaged feel...if it
wasn't for what else the nest was made of. Spread around the
entirety of the nest is a collection of eye-catching shiny
things. Scraps of metal, mostly, with also things like metal
helmets, necklaces, a couple of mangled window frames...The
aluminum foil cape and hat aren't visible at least from the
angle Bella approaches the nest from. The bird itself is busy on
one side of the nest, poking at the branches with its beak,
sometimes grabbing and breaking one off from the tree.

There was obviously going to be a skirmish on their hooves, for
now the others were relatively protected by their barrier. Asher
creates some distance between himself and the wolves. He would
obviously keep an eye out on the others though, in case they
needed help or more protection. One of the timber wolves started
to advance on him, it gets in the pouncing position while
snarling at the unicorn.
Asher backs up a bit, almost tripping over a large rock. He
didn't have any weapons but he had that! The stallion quickly
picks up the rock and chucks it at the timber wolves head,
stunning it for a moment. While the wolf was stunned, Asher
placed all four hooves firmly on the ground, bracing himself.
His horn glows light blue while he aims it at the creature. A
forceful energy pushes the wolf several feet away before it
knocks into a tree, killing the wolf instantly.
"Oh...well jeez that was a little more violent than I
intended..." Asher chuckles before running back over to the
others, giving both their barriers another boost of magic.

Sadowi watched the rather unceremonial sight of a timberwolf
literally going to pieces right before his hooves with an
expression of near pity. "Wow, that's pretty bad."
Picking the nearest intact target, he tossed his sword on a
string at its head, running after the flying blade with his
infuriatingly casual smirk back upon the remains of his lips as
it found its mark, and after two smooth motions of digging in
his hind legs and pivoting he wrenched the wooden skull from its
berth and unsheathed his second weapon to drive it through the
dog's body and into the dirt, hopefully rooting it in place, and
lobbed his barbed sword grasping the severed head in the general
direction of another.

"Uh oh." Lucid responded as they continued to approach the
group. She saw how the others handled them and made one of her
monsters disappear before shrinking the other one. It suddenly
growled and lunged at the wolf slashing at it. Lucid had made
her nightmares weaker as there was no need to waste energy
making one insanely powerful.
It's dark body wrapped around one timber wolf as it dug it's
claws into the wood head, ripping it off and throwing it away.
Another wolf jumped on the monster's back though and bit it
causing it to hiss and try to fling it off. Lucid picked up a
rock as well in case any tried to leap at her. Honestly,
throwing rocks might've been easier, but she hasn't been able to
use her dream magic in a while and wanted to give it a test run
before they come in contact with some giant bird.

For each timber wolf that falls, another one or two takes its
place, the commotion drawing the attention of another nearby
pack. They advance as though a part of the same group, replacing
the other fallen bundles of sticks with fresh greens and browns
as the ground shakes once, faintly.
Then again, faintly.
Then a third time, stronger.
A fourth, stronger.
The timber wolves stop what they're doing and turn in the
direction of the source of the rumbling, approaching from a
direction nearly perpendicular to the way the bag was leading
them in. A fifth shake causes one to fall from a branch above
them from where it had been intending to pounce. On the next,
they spread around without regard for the ponies and, at
intervals, collapse into their components, once again seeming
nothing more than tree leavings.

Asher was so focused on the timber wolves that he barely noticed
the ground shake the first time, he started to back up more
while trying to think of his next move. Then the ground shook
once more, he could feel the vibration under his hooves that
time. Something wasn't right, of course the whole situation with
the wolves was a nuisance but this was different...
The ground shook stronger this time, making Asher wobble a bit
before steadying himself. He observes the timber wolves'
reaction to the rumbling, obviously it wasn't something they
expected and it scared them off. Once they disperse, Asher
quickly looks around. He couldn't see anything but he could
definitely tell whatever the source of it was, that it was
getting closer. The others looked no worse for wear thankfully,
"Ooookay, I don't know what's headed this way but I don't wanna
stick around to find out. We should hurry."
The magic blue paper bag floats in circles, beckoning them to
it. Asher runs off towards it, encouraging the others to follow
with haste. They wasted enough time, hopefully Clair was still
okay. Thankfully, the bag glows even brighter as they head
closer to their destination.

Sadowi nodded at Asher. "Sounds good to me. Let's get out of
here."
Replacing his sharps into their scabbards attached to his back
with dull slurps as they released their grasp of dead wood, he
turned tail and sprinted after the blue unicorn without a
backward glance, but after covering less than four strides he
skidded to a halt and bowed to the yellow unicorn. "After you,
miz Lucid."
