London Story: The Killer Within

Memories of Hadis Al Sayf Theme: Unmee no Haguruma (
https://youtu.be/YFb_LgNbcww?si=x_JhLc8iCbt6D-DP
)
"There he is... Hadis Al Sayf. I was curious what you were like
when you're not holding back. I gotta say, I like this version
of you far more than your normal self. Maybe it's because we're
both killers at heart..."
Those were the words of the Master from long ago that had been
ringing in Kindron's (The Crow Mercenaries universe version)
since he had returned to life. Before Kindron had married the
Zelpharia of his world, he helped her fight those like Alice
Rynn and the Master, the later who had regenerated into a new
form and became known as the Sword Master when he tried to pose
as CM Kindron's League of Assassins personality, Hadis Al Sayf.
When CM Kindron was head of the League of Assassins, CM Kindron
went by Hadis Al Sayf, which was a name meaning "Sword of Hades"
in Arabic. When Alice Rynn learned about this by torturing Nyssa
Al Ghul in the Crow Mercenaries world, the Master and Alice Rynn
tried to take advantage of this, in order to push CM Kindron
back into his old ways to drive a wedge between him and
Zelpharia. When CM Kindron was pushed over the edge, his Hadis
Al Sayf persona came out and brought out his killer instinct.
This side of Kindron, who he just started calling Hadis Al Sayf,
was not a full blown alternate personality like Wykoth's
Trickster, but instead was his true instincts taking over his
mind. When he lost control of his instincts, he would not
hesitate to kill and even torture his enemies, which led him to
fear his own instincts.
During the incident, CM Kindron had found out that Nyssa Al Ghul
was captured by the Master and Alice Rynn (the later he did not
know at the time until he saw the footage Master showed him of
Alice Rynn torturing Nyssa Al Ghul). Nyssa Al Ghul and CM
Kindron were close when he was the head of the League of
Assassins (during the days he was Hadis Al Sayf), and even after
he left, he still cared for Nyssa despite their differing
opinions. Originally, they were brought together by Ras Al Ghul,
in an effort to marry his daughter to the next head of the
League of Assasins. Though they never went through with the
marriage, they still cared for each other for a long time, and
they had a soft spot for each other. In the moment when CM
Kindron saw the footage of Nyssa being tortured, CM Kindron lost
control of his instincts, which led to his Hadis Al Sayf
personality coming to the surface.
CM Kindron could still remember every sword swing, every raging
thought to torture and kill the Master and Alice Rynn that he
had during that fight. The Master, who had regenerated into a
form they would come to call the Sword Master (The name he took
when posing as CM Kindron in the League of Assassins), would go
on to fight Kindron in a sword battle. CM Kindron remembered
gripping his sword so tight that his hands blistered, and
remembered the silent fury in every swing of his sword during
their battle. He remembered the Master laughing gleefully as CM
Kindron tried to fight his own mind, and Nyssa's screams in the
background on the hologram that was being shown of her torture.
Ever since he'd come back to life, CM Kindron had been
remembering the past. He remembered how Acillia died in his
world, how Nyssa was turned into a werepyre and tortured, and
even how Zeph nearly died trying to pull him out of his Hadis Al
Sayf personality when CM Kindron had accidentally stabbed her
when she tried to stop his fight with Alice Rynn later after his
fight with the Master.
CM Kindron: Zeph... I wish you were here. I feel so lost in this
world. Everything is different here. I don't belong here. He
says to himself, as though talking to the Zelpharia of his world
(even though he really just talking to himself.
After coming back to life, CM Kindron was living in London
Kindron's room at Hellsing. Since London Kindron was staying at
the Darkfire-Tolodora Technologies building, he was rarely ever
at Hellsing except to visit friends and family, and CM Kindron
had been staying there in London Kindron's place, which made him
feel even more like a replacement for London Kindron.
Of course CM Kindron knew that Hellsing accepted him, and would
be friends with him. But this world was still strange to him, as
he was still trying to learn how this world worked. He felt out
of place no matter where he went, even among the Crow
Mercenaries, which was mostly his own family. It was like there
was something in CM Kindron that made it hard for him to accept
this new reality he had been thrust into, as though even being
with his family was strange since CM Kindron felt like his
family didn't need him anymore.
CM Kindron got up when he heard a knock on his door. He tried to
regain his composure, putting on an emotionless look while
trying to suppress the memories flooding his mind.
At the door, Blademaster Raven, Takahashi, Dufort, and London
Kindron were waiting.
London Kindron: Hey. He says cheerfully with a wave.
CM Kindron tried to manage a smile, but it felt so hollow he
quickly gave up.
CM Kindron: Hey. What's going on? He asks London Kindron.
London Kindron: Those new swords. They're finished and ready to
be picked up. I ran into Dufort on the way, and he wanted to
come. And then he called Raven and Takahashi. He explains.
CM Kindron: I see. He says blankly. He could tell by the look he
got from Dufort that Dufort could tell something wasn't right
with his father. CM Kindron ignored it though, and tried to act
as natural as he could.
London Kindron teleports the group, where they go to Smithy's
workshop in the Tunnel of Ghosts, a place in the Shadow Realm in
the death wraith's territory. The Tunnel of Ghosts was a place
where helpful ghosts resided, protected by the death wraiths and
protected from corruption. The ghosts there often proved useful
to the death wraiths, with most having unique ways to help the
death wraiths, from purification power to combat training to
even weapon and armor manufacturing. Smithy fell into the later
category, and made armors and weapons for people.
Once there, Smithy looks to the group with a cheerful wave.
Smithy: Aye! Welcome, laddies! He says to the group.
CM Kindron goes over and gives Smithy a bottle of cherry spiced
rum.
CM Kindron: The other me told me to give you this. He says as he
hands the bottle of rum to Smithy while pointing to London
Kindron.
Smithy: I should be thankin' ya, Kinny! You know what I like. I
don't be gettin' much of this stuff in the afterlife. He says
jokingly to London Kindron as he puts the bottle of rum in his
fridge.
London Kindron: No problem, Smithy. Thanks again for helping
out.
Smithy looks over to CM Kindron with a suspicious look. Smithy:
Aye. So this be the other one, eh? He says as he looks at CM
Kindron.
CM Kindron: What? He asks as Smithy gets in his face, looking
into his eyes. CM Kindron was starting to get the feeling that
Smithy was staring right into his soul.
Smithy: Kinny said you were trustworthy... But somethin' about
ya is... weird.
CM Kindron: How so? He asks curiously.
Smithy: I see the eyes of a man... A man whose living with a lot
of regrets. He says.
CM Kindron shrugs. CM Kindron: Well, you're not wrong. He says
sarcastically. I've done a lot of terrible things in my life.
Deep down, I suppose I'll always be trying to find redemption
for the things I've done.
Smithy strokes his chin as he studies CM Kindron for a moment.
Smithy: Hmm... Are you sure about this, Kinny? He asks London
Kindron. I got a weird feelin' about this one.
London Kindron: I'm confident. Don't worry. He says, looking
over at CM Kindron.
Smithy: So be it then. I trust yer judgement. Just don' make me
regret this. He says as he goes into another room and comes back
with three magic holy swords he had forged.
CM Kindron studied the swords for a moment. Knowing they were
holy swords, he put on his gloves, since it was the only way he
could hold a holy sword without burning his hands.
CM Kindron looked at the swords for a moment, trying to figure
out which to examine first. There were three swords, one each
made to his specifications. One had a black handle and a black
and blue blade, another had a white handle with a blue blade,
and the last was a red handle with a normal steel colored blade.
Smithy: Introduce yerselves, my little creations. He says to the
sword.
The ice sword (the white handle with the blue blade), speaks up
first.
Ice Sword: I am Frostbind. It's good to meet you, my new master.
It says in a female voice. The voice was soft and shy.
Flame Sword: And I'm Emberflare! I'm ready to blow stuff up! It
says happily. This sword spoke in the voice of a strong female
personality that sounded ready to fight.
Lightning Sword: And I'm Stormblazer! Pick me if you want to
win! It says, in a strong and confident female voice.
London Kindron looks to Smithy with a suspicious look. London
Kindron: Why are they all female personalities? You couldn't
make at least one of them a male personality? It would have
added a little variety. He says sarcastically.
Smithy: Sorry, Kinny... I got no control over how the spirits
manifest. I did what I could with what you gave me. It was just
chance that all three turned out to be female personalities.
CM Kindron: Figures. I should have guessed that would be the
case with my luck. He says sarcastically.
Stormblazer: Hey! Don't worry about it! We're good swords and
we'll kick as much a*s as we need to to prove ourselves to be
the best blades you'll ever have! It says confidently.
Kindron picks up Stormblazer first, holding the sword in his
hand. He touches the blade, running his finger along the runes,
which light up.
However, CM Kindron felt it the moment he held Stormblazer, and
felt the shift in his mind. And as CM Kindron's normally red
eyes turn yellow for a moment, he panics and lets go of
Stormblazer. He then stumbles back, his hands shaking as he
falls to his knees, fearful of the change in his mind that
almost took over.
Stormblazer: OW! Watch the grip, will ya?! It says
sarcastically, laying on the ground. It then bounces up on its
blade and then jumps back on the table. Freaking butter fingers
over here... I hope you dropping me isn't gonna be a regular
thing! It says to CM Kindron.
London Kindron, Raven, and Takahashi run over to him. Takahashi:
Uncle! Are you okay?! He asks, worried about CM Kindron as
Takahashi could see CM Kindron still shaking.
CM Kindron: I'm... okay... It's just been a while since I held a
holy sword, that's all. He says, trying to hide what was really
going on. Even though he was telling the truth that it had been
a while since he picked up a sword, the others could easily tell
that something else was going on.
Dufort walks over and puts his hand on CM Kindron's shoulder,
leaning down. Dufort: It's not the sword. Something was wrong
even before you picked up the sword. He says to CM Kindron.
CM Kindron: Like I said. It's just been a while. I'm used to
wielding Shinso. So holding a new sword was a bit... strange.
Stormblazer then bounces on the table, and points its blade at
Shinso. Stormblazer: You mean that old blade? You don't need
that old blade anymore when you got me! I can do everything that
old man can do but better! It says confidently.
Shinso pulses at Stormblazer, telling it sternly that it wasn't
that old. If the two were human, they would be glaring at each
other right now. And when literal electricity starts sparking
between the two, it seemed like the two were not going to get
along.
Takahashi: Oh great... Just what we need. Come on, Shinso...
Don't let that blade get to you. He says sarcastically as he
notices Shinso and Stormblazer almost competing with their
electricity control.
Smithy smacks Stormblazer on the flat part of the blade with his
hand. Smithy: Enough! You want to embarrass yourself on yer
first day, lass? He says to Stormblazer.
Stormblazer nearly bounces off the table with a yelp when Smithy
smacks it. Stormblazer: Sorry, boss! It says, not wanting to
make Smithy mad.
Smithy then goes over to CM Kindron, who was starting to regain
his composure.
Smithy: Now I get it. I've seen that fear ya had before. And
that explains the weird feelin' I be gettin' earlier. Ya be
fearin what you can do with a sword. Fearin' the darkness
within.
CM Kindron looks down, ashamed. CM Kindron: Yeah. I guess that's
pretty much it. He says in response to Smithy's words. I've done
a lot of terrible things. I've had to live with those things.
Dufort: I never noticed Dad was like me. Holding in a lot of
pain and anger. I guess that's because I couldn't ever read his
mind with him guarding his thoughts.
CM Kindron sighs. CM Kindron: No, Dufort... That's not it. Pain,
maybe. But not anger. Or rather, not anger at others but myself.
He says, partially to himself.
London Kindron gets down on one knee and puts his hand on CM
Kindron's shoulder. London Kindron: So tell us. Maybe we can
help. I've had to overcome a lot of things in my past too.
CM Kindron thinks for a moment. CM Kindron: Fine... He says,
taking a breath as he steadies his nerves to tell more of his
past to the others. I don't talk about this often. Our Zeph and
our Wykoth are the ones that know the specifics, but a long time
before I joined Hellsing, I was the head of the League of
Assassins. I was known as Hadis Al Sayf.
London Kindron: The Sword of Hades? He says, translating the
name. Funny... Zoe comes from a world where the Kindron she knew
was the son of demon god, Hades.
CM Kindron: During that time... I was trained by Ras Al Ghul,
and I eventually replaced him.
London Kindron: Really? I remember Hei told me about his fight
with Ras. That was how he became the leader of the League of
Assassins in this world. He said Ras was tough, and he didn't
want to admit it, but he almost lost that fight according to
Malcolm Merlyn.
CM Kindron: Yeah, he's pretty tough. He says to London Kindron.
I trained for years under him before I was strong enough to beat
him. He finds a chair and sits down. When I replaced him, I led
the League of Assassins. I did a lot of things I'm not proud of.
I thought I could remove evil from the world by killing every
criminal and killer I came across. At some point, I met Acillia.
She helped me remember the compassion I used to have for others.
She helped remind me there was a better way than killing them.
That was the point I left the League in the hands of my second
in command, Nyssa Al Ghul. Eventually though, Acillia died. Long
story there.
Smithy sighs. Smithy: I get it now. He goes over to CM Kindron
and pats his head. A lot of regret over those things you did? He
says to CM Kindron.
CM Kindron: That's the problem... It's not all regret. When I
was Hadis Al Sayf, I started to enjoy killing evil people. I
even started torturing some of them to make them feel the pain
of the people they'd hurt. At least, that's what I told
myself... The truth is that I started to enjoy it. And after I
tried to change, it's like my instincts sometimes would come out
and take over when people pushed me beyond my mental limit. When
that happens, I feel myself returning to who I was as Hadis Al
Sayf. I always feared what would happen if that side becomes
dominant in me... Like Wykoth's battle with his Trickster
personality. If it were to overtake me, I might not ever come
back from it.
Takahashi: I didn't know any of this. But I suppose that's the
point since you don't talk about it. He says to CM Kindron.
Smithy: I seen people like you before... He says to CM Kindron.
Let me give ya a piece of advice from the other swordsman I've
made weapons fer that have been in yer position. It's not about
overcoming darkness. It's about learning ta live with it. Ya be
trying to use yer swords for the right reasons now. And that be
admirable. Don't ever be given up on tryin' to be a better man.
CM Kindron smiles a bit at Smithy's words. CM Kindron: Thanks.
That makes me feel a little better, I guess. He says as he gets
up. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring this whole happy occasion
down.
Takahashi: Something I don't understand though... I've never
seen you lose control, or have trouble like this before. He
says, trying to understand CM Kindron's state.
CM Kindron: After Zeph and I finished our battles throughout
time and stayed at Hellsing after we got married, I guess I
never really got pushed to the point where that side of me came
out. And if I did get close, Zeph could talk me out of it. It
seems like I've always had people to pull me out when I go too
far... First it was Acillia. And one time, Nyssa even helped
pull me back. Then it was Zeph. I've always had someone to help,
but now I'm alone. And I don't know that I have the strength to
fight it off myself.
Takahashi: But you haven't fought much since coming back. So why
is it coming out while you're just holding a sword?
CM Kindron: It didn't use to be hard to control. It used to only
come out when I was being pushed mentally... But all the time I
spent in Heaven after I died, with not having to worry about
being pushed to my breaking point, I guess my mind is a bit
weaker now. It's not like I did any fighting in the afterlife.
But now... I guess I'm weaker than I was before.
Dufort: It's hard to keep in now. Like a clawing in your head.
Trying to claw out.
CM Kindron looks over to Dufort, a bit surprised. CM Kindron:
That's... actually pretty accurate, Dufort. I didn't even what I
was feeling, but you said it perfectly. He says to Dufort.
Dufort: Yeah. I know that feeling personally. That's how I felt
when I lost control of my powers after the Order killed everyone
in Hellsing. It was before Wykoth found me and helped me regain
control. He puts his hand to Kindron's forehead, and uses his
psychic hypnosis power on CM Kindron. For now, I can help ease
you a bit. It won't last forever, but maybe you can train your
mind like I did. It might help. I'll use my hypnosis to bind
those instincts. But again, it won't last forever.
CM Kindron chuckles a bit as he lets Dufort use his hypnosis
power. It felt like Hadis Al Sayf was pushed into the back of CM
Kindron's mind. CM Kindron: Look at you, kiddo. I'm so proud of
you. The student becomes the master. He says to Dufort
cheerfully. It was the first time he'd actually felt genuinely
happy since the initial joy he felt when he came back to life
and saw his friends and family that were still alive.
Raven: I never thought I'd see the day when Dufort of all people
would be helping someone control their dark side. He says
sarcastically with a shrug. It seems our cold little robot here
has a heart after all. He says jokingly about Dufort.
Dufort. Shut up. He says to Raven simply.
CM Kindron gets up. It was almost as though he had new life in
him, and he felt more light on his feet as he felt himself more
in control of his mind. It was like some of the weight on his
mind had been lifted.
London Kindron goes over to CM Kindron and hugs him. London
Kindron: I know what it's like too. To be lost in the dark. You
ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you too. He says to
CM Kindron.
CM Kindron just chuckles. CM Kindron: Thanks. He says simply as
he hugs London Kindron back. My father used to say that those
that oppress others are weak because they let power control
them, while the strong control their power. I guess that makes
me weak.
London Kindron: This version of our dad says the same thing...
But you're not weak. You're trying to control that side of you,
so you're not letting power control you. Just know that it's not
a battle you're going to win in a day. I battled with my own
demons for many, many years, and your inner demons sound way
worse than mine. Heck, I never had personality shifts like what
you're describing... The worst I have is Dark Kindron, who's
more annoying than evil.
Once CM Kindron's hug with London Kindron ended, he goes over to
the table. CM Kindron: Anyway, back to the swords. He says,
trying to change the subject.
Smithy chuckles, as though satisfied at the fact that CM Kindron
seemed to be feeling a bit better.
Smithy: Right... All three be made to yer specifications. By the
names, I think you can tell what element each blade is.
Frostbind: We will do our best to be of help to you, master. It
says nervously to CM Kindron.
Emberflare: Yeah! We're ready to fight! It says confidently.
CM Kindron takes each sword, one at a time, and tests each
sword's weight and the power running through it. Each had their
own element and unique skill, which CM Kindron would have to
master. Once satisfied, he puts them all in their sheathes and
puts them to his side.
CM Kindron: Thanks. I owe you big for this. These swords are
perfect. He says to Smithy.
Stormblazer: D*mn right we are! It says confidently.
Smithy chuckles again. Smithy: Just bring me more rum and we be
callin' it even, my boy. He says jokingly to CM Kindron.
London Kindron: Yeah. One thing I learned about Smithy, he never
hates anyone that brings him his rum. He says jokingly.
It was only a small step, but CM Kindron started to feel a
little better about his own darkness. With three new swords to
master, and Dufort to help him temporarily contain his Hadis Al
Sayf instincts, CM Kindron started to feel much more comfortable
with this new world he'd found himself in. Though CM Kindron
knew that the killer within him would eventually regain its
strength and rise to the surface again.
Only time would tell what will happen next, and what training CM
Kindron will do to control his own killer instincts.
Will CM Kindron learn to control his Hadis Al Sayf side? Or will
it someday control him?
Only time will tell...
End.
