| London RP Profile: Kinei Nightfire | |
| By: Zorbak the Ebil Moglin Date: April 16, 2022, 7:56 pm | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| "Even the shadows of the flames will consume you when I'm | |
| around." - Kinei Nightfire | |
| "It doesn't matter what the game is in battle... I'll find a way | |
| to win it." | |
| "I am a skilled warrior and assassin... But I am far from the | |
| worst thing in the dark. There are far scarier things than me." | |
| "They say I'm not strong enough to brave the storm... But those | |
| people don't realize that I AM the storm!" | |
| "I've got a long list of skills... Many of which that would make | |
| me a nightmare to any of my enemies." | |
| "Don't mistake my mercy for weakness... I was ordered to take | |
| you alive, so consider yourself fortunate." - Kinei to an enemy | |
| "People fear the dark... For good reason. If you knew the things | |
| in the dark, even fearless people would be afraid." | |
| "Don't lament not being strong enough... Spend your time getting | |
| strong enough to make sure you're never weak again." | |
| If you have enemies that means youve stood up for something, | |
| sometime in your life. We all make enemies at some point. | |
| "Kierran is one of the only people I acknowledge as being more | |
| skilled a warrior than me. There was a reason I chose to join | |
| him rather than start my own team." | |
| "Kierran is lucky to have you Anna... And lucky we did not meet | |
| first, or else your chosen would be me, not him." - Kinei to | |
| Anna Shadow after Anna and Kierran were mated together by death | |
| wraith custom (and was slightly bitter that Anna chose Kierran) | |
| "Anna... It's too bad. You and I could have made a great couple. | |
| Smiles. We still could." - Kinei to Anna when Anna chose to be | |
| with Kierran | |
| "I have cared about Anna for as long as I can remember. Even | |
| before Kierran came to fall in love with her. That was the | |
| reason I joined Kierran's team initially, was because I wanted | |
| to get close to her. I had hoped that getting close to her would | |
| help let her eventually fall in love with me... but I didn't | |
| count on the fact that Anna had met Kierran before me, so I | |
| never had any chance of being chosen by her." | |
| "Don't ever think you can handle controlling a dark spirit. He | |
| says to the ally, poking them in the shoulder. You cannot | |
| control them forever. Trying only leads to one end result, and | |
| there's no telling how many of us you'll take with you. Stronger | |
| death wraiths than us have TRIED to control dark spirits, and | |
| failed. What chance do we have? We only seek to understand their | |
| power so we can counter them in combat. That's all." - Kinei to | |
| an ally who wanted to try and research controlling dark spirits. | |
| "Yes... The Darkfire family did have children with death wraiths | |
| at one point in history and it spawned my family... Though now | |
| we prefer the name Nightfire to keep ourselves separate from | |
| them. Not out of disrespect, but just because we need to | |
| differentiate ourselves from them because we are not the same | |
| family anymore. Of course, since it is recent, I understand | |
| people are confused why we seem like we're suddenly changing our | |
| name." - Kinei Nightfire explaining how his family was different | |
| from the Darkfires | |
| "I was almost killed on a mission... I thought it was suspicious | |
| that Kierran sent me out alone given the dangers of the mission, | |
| but a lot of us were going out alone becuase we were so | |
| shortstaffed after the dark spirits started systematically | |
| destroying most of our higher-ups. But it was when I got back | |
| from my solo mission that my senses really picked up on it... | |
| AFTER I got ambushed by dark spirits... He looked surprised to | |
| see me, as though he wasn't expecting me to come back. He said | |
| it was concern for the condition I was in... But I knew... I | |
| could tell by the look on his face. That look told me all I | |
| needed to know. That was when I left... And what do I realize | |
| when I leave? Someone is suddenly sending assassins after me | |
| after I left from both the death wraiths and from the dark | |
| spirits. And they say I attacked Keirran before I left, injuring | |
| him! And it has only made me more certain. Kierran tried to have | |
| me killed, and I need to figure out why." - Kinei when he came | |
| to the living world after Aeron Kazara (as Kierran) sent Kinei | |
| on a mission in order to try and get him killed by dark spirits. | |
| During a fight with an enemy when Kinei and Kierran were working | |
| together. | |
| Kinei: If you treat me like I'm some sort of demon... Don't be | |
| surprised when I throw your soul into the void. | |
| Kierran: You realize you'd only be setting them up to become | |
| servants of Malice right? He says to Kinei. | |
| Kinei: Shut up, Kierran... Don't ruin this for me. | |
| Kierran: Also. Have you ever ACTUALLY done that? | |
| Kinei sighs and glares at Kierran. | |
| Kinei: No, but you're REALLY tempting me. | |
| "It seems Kinei really lives up to the reputation of his | |
| family... He's a skilled assassin. It would be better if he | |
| would leave Kierran's team and work for us, but I suppose we can | |
| make due for now. He is good eyes and ears among the other death | |
| wraiths and is great at gathering information." - A death wraith | |
| council member about Kinei | |
| "The Nightfires... They used to be called the Darkfires, but | |
| people kept confusing them with the Japanese vampire Darkfire | |
| family. The Nightfires changed their name to Nightfire. You | |
| could say they're like a diverged version of the Darkfires. The | |
| Nightfires had a common ancestor with a Darkfire long ago, but | |
| over time, the Nightfires diverged into their own family and the | |
| vampire blood got diluted so much in their family over time so | |
| they are now almost purely death wraith and have very little | |
| vampire power in them with very rare exceptions." | |
| Current name: Kinei Nightfire | |
| Original Name: Kinei Darkfire | |
| Death Wraith Title: "Shadow of the Flames" | |
| Age: Unknown | |
| Species: Death Wraith | |
| Gender: Male | |
| Hunter Group/Team: None Currently | |
| Family: | |
| - Father: Unknown Nightfire family member | |
| - Mother: Unknown Death Wraith | |
| - Alternate Son: Zandrick Darkfire (Alternate Dimension Version) | |
| Weapons: | |
| - Death Wraith Soul Sword: Perfect Dark: This is Kinei's own | |
| soul sword that he gained from his death wraith power. Like | |
| other soul swords, Kinei's sword is able to purify souls, and is | |
| able to purify/destroy dark spirits thanks to its purifying | |
| nature. This sword is in the form of a Japanese katana, and is a | |
| black sword that Kinei can utilize in combat in a manner similar | |
| to other Katana users. Kinei's unique sword allows him to create | |
| special darkness attacks that uses psychic power. There are two | |
| main ways that Kinei uses this. The first is that he can create | |
| darkness attacks out of his sword, which can be formed using any | |
| of Kinei's darkness abilities. However, when used, the main | |
| unique thing about the darkness that Kinei uses is that his | |
| darkness can track opponents to a degree, where the darkness | |
| will try to home in on opponents. The waves have some form of | |
| self-awareness, and will try to actively seek out the targets | |
| they are targetted towards. The second is that Kinei can use his | |
| Nightfire arts to create darkness familiars that can attack | |
| opponents using this darkness. When used, these darkness | |
| familiars also utilize psychic power, but also have increased | |
| intelligence. Not only can the darkness familiars more easily | |
| use their combat abilities for more advanced tactics, but the | |
| darkness familiars can also predict the opponent's movements to | |
| a degree, and the familiars are able to use that ability to try | |
| and adapt to an opponent's abilities and movements. The darkness | |
| released from Kinei's sword can not only be used to fire waves | |
| of darkness, but can also be used to channel any of Kinei's | |
| darkness abilities, including his Nightfire darkness abilities | |
| like his burning darkness and dark lightning abilities, as well | |
| as his deathly darkness and his grim darkness abilities. In | |
| terms of the ability to psychically home in on opponents and | |
| adapt to opponents, opponents that are adaptable enough can | |
| still evade the attacks, or even dispel them as long as they | |
| have the ability to do so. It is also usually a good idea to | |
| destroy Kinei's darkness creations with his soul sword as soon | |
| as possible, and not giving them chances to adapt or they become | |
| much harder to take out and may even gain resistances to certain | |
| kinds of attacks by enemies based on how the darkness attacks or | |
| familiars adapt. | |
| - Death Wraith Poison, Poison Darts and Poison Daggers: As an | |
| assassin, Kinei is one that doesn't hesitate to use poison in | |
| order to take out his enemies. Unlike some more honorable | |
| fighters, Kinei takes out his enemies as efficiently as | |
| possible, and sometimes that means using poison to do so. Kinei | |
| won't hesitate to bring out poison darts, or even poison daggers | |
| in battle. Kinei has a few poisons that his family have | |
| developed, which include paralytic poisons, sedative poisons, | |
| and even acidic poisons. Depending on the situation, Kinei will | |
| use poison on an enemy. The most common way he uses this is when | |
| he uses his poison daggers in combat, where Kinei uses his | |
| poison daggers on enemies, whether it is by throwing them | |
| directly at an opponent, or by stabbing them with it. Depending | |
| on the poison used, the poison can have different effects, | |
| though Kinei most often uses deadly paralytic poison, which | |
| paralyzes a body before it shuts down. Kinei even has wire lines | |
| that utilize his poisons, which Kinei can introduce into the | |
| body through cuts and scraps if the wires dig into the body. As | |
| for poison darts, these can be thrown from a distance, which | |
| Kinei can use to stealthfully take out an enemy. Thankfully, | |
| Kinei's childhood in being fed poison by his parents to build | |
| his tolerance helped him prepare for his family's poisons that | |
| they use, so Kinei himself is immune to all the poisons he uses. | |
| This means that Kinei's own weapons can be used against him, but | |
| the poison on the weapons don't do any damage. The only | |
| exception to this is the acidic poison, as acidic poison has an | |
| acidic element in addition to the poison. IN this regard, the | |
| acidic poison is the only one that can hurt Kinei, and Kinei | |
| only uses it against enemies resistant or immune to normal | |
| poisons. Kinei is very skilled with his poisons, even keeps | |
| antidotes for poisons on him when having the poisons on him in | |
| case someone gets poisoned. As one might imagine, countering | |
| this means one cannot let the poison be introduced into their | |
| system. Kinei's poisons are mostly administered into the blood, | |
| or he can put it in food and drink depending on what he wants to | |
| do. Kinei can also use aerosol poison if he chooses, but he | |
| rarely does since it can affect his allies as well, and he | |
| considers himself very good at hitting enemies with poison darts | |
| and his poison daggers that he doesn't rely on aerosol poisons | |
| much. It is also worth noting that while his daggers are metal, | |
| his poison darts are not metal, and are non-magnetic. | |
| - Grapple Lines, Wirelines, and Steel Thread: Some compare Kinei | |
| to how Hei Darkfire operates, in which Kinei has a very similar | |
| style of using knives attached to wire lines and using wire | |
| lines to grapple and try to trap his enemies. Kinei has a number | |
| of wire lines that are able to be used, in which he can use them | |
| on their own to hit and trap opponents, or he can use them and | |
| attach a dagger to them to try and spear an enemy. In addition | |
| to the lines he has in the sleeve of his jacket, he also has | |
| wire lines connected to his belt, which can be used as well. | |
| Kinei is usually pretty prepared with these lines, having | |
| multiple lines and can even throw out multiple lines at once. | |
| These lines are meant more for grappling, in which Kinei spears | |
| a knife into a surface, or uses the line to grapple to an | |
| object. In addition to these lines, he also has special steel | |
| threads that he can release and use to trap opponents as well as | |
| using his wire lines, which work similarly, but are designed | |
| more for trapping and cutting opponents than grappling. The | |
| steel threads are usually designed to be held on to by Kinei, | |
| and usually are used to capture an opponent or entangle an area | |
| to restrict movement. Kinei is known for his skill with using | |
| these wire lines and threads against opponents, and can do | |
| things like pulling an arm or leg off that he's trapped, or he | |
| also has poison he can apply to the lines as well. While the | |
| wire lines are clearly visible, the steel threads are so small | |
| that they are nearly invisible. Kinei has even been able to | |
| break someone's neck with these wire lines after wrapping them | |
| around someone's neck, even without needing things like magnetic | |
| manipulation. As one might imagine, these are very dangerous | |
| weapons in the hand of a skilled assassin, and these are strong | |
| enough that they are hard to break. However, that doesn't mean | |
| these steel threads and wires are unbreakable, as some stronger | |
| opponents could essentially break these, usually with strong | |
| bladed weapon attacks, or some can use counters to metal like | |
| magnetic manipulation. | |
| Death Wraith Abilities: | |
| - Death Wraith Spiritual/Darkness Nature: The death wraiths were | |
| spawned of the shadow realm by Toranoraos, and are spiritual | |
| beings who are the very incarnations of darkness. Death wraiths | |
| were designed for reaping souls, with most of them being born | |
| into the order of death wraiths that have learned over time to | |
| harness their abilities for their job of reaping souls. However, | |
| their other main part of their darkness and spiritual nature | |
| comes from them being of the shadow realm, and their other job | |
| of keeping the denizens of the shadow realm, the dark spirits, | |
| from invading the living world. They are beings of shadows, but | |
| also of death, due to the nature of their job. A death wraith's | |
| main power is that of darkness and their ability to use the | |
| power of their spiritual nature to purify and battle lost souls, | |
| but most have other abilities as well that the race as developed | |
| over time as they learned about their heritage and how to use | |
| their power. Death wraiths usually serve one of two purposes, | |
| either hunting lost souls for the Hall of Souls, or hunting dark | |
| spirits who try to enter the human world. For the most part, the | |
| shadow realm is the life of a death wraith, and all death | |
| wraiths have a darkness nature. Because of this, all death | |
| wraiths, even hybrids, are incarnations of darkness and have | |
| strong darkness natures. However, being beings of darkness means | |
| that they are more vulnerable to beings of light, or natures of | |
| light since light is the natural counter to darkness. For the | |
| most part death wraiths are beings of darkness, with only a few | |
| exceptions ever being born. However, as spiritual beings, they | |
| are also vulnerable to blessed sea salt and iron, which can do | |
| damage to their more spiritual natures. Depending on how it's | |
| used and the severity of how much exposure, death wraiths can be | |
| killed if blessed sea salt or iron end up in their systems, | |
| which act acts one of the biggest weaknesses. | |
| - Death Energy Power/Manipulation: Just as demonic beings have | |
| demonic energy, or angelic beings have holy energy, death | |
| wraiths have death energy flowing through their bodies that | |
| powers their ability to use their darkness abilities. This | |
| energy powers a death wraith's abilities, and can be used in | |
| battle against enemies as a basic energy all death wraiths have. | |
| Those familiar with death energy know how it works, as it is the | |
| opposite of life energy and given off by beings of death. Death | |
| wraiths radiate this as one of their main energies, and this | |
| energy is a basic power source. Death wraiths only radiate | |
| enough of this to use their abilities, and don't have negative | |
| effects on the environment of the living world like most think | |
| due to death wraiths learning control of their minds and bodies | |
| from an early age that they learn to keep this under control. | |
| Death wraiths use this much like other races use death energy | |
| when using it on its own, such as using the rotting effects of | |
| death energy or using the necromancy abilities that allow one to | |
| create undead using death energy manipulation. When used on its | |
| own, death wraiths can use the death energy properties of death | |
| energy, and can use it like any other energy in battle. Unlike | |
| those like grim reapers though who manipulate both life and | |
| death energies, death wraiths only manipulate death energy, and | |
| cannot manipulate life energy. Due to this, life energy is a | |
| good way to counter this power, and life energy can be used | |
| against a death wraith's deathly nature. As one might expect, | |
| those that can manipulate life energy can counter death wraith's | |
| death energies, or other energies that counter death energy can | |
| also be used to counter a death wraith's death energy as well | |
| depending on the energy. | |
| - Shadow Manipulation/Primordial Shadows Manipulation: Thanks to | |
| the death wraiths being created from shadows of the shadow | |
| realm, they are able to manipulate/control shadows and even | |
| manipulate primordial shadows from the shadow realm. They are | |
| able to use shadows much like other shadow users, being able to | |
| use shadows to attack opponents. However, unlike other beings | |
| that use shadows, there are few that are more masterful of the | |
| use of darkness than the death wraiths. Being masters of | |
| shadows, death wraiths are masters of not only attacking with | |
| shadows, but using different forms of shadows. They are able to | |
| do things like creating special unique shadow techniques based | |
| in their skillset, change the physical form of shadows into | |
| liquid or solid, or even change the acidity of shadows. Certain | |
| people have even developed unusual darkness abilities, sometimes | |
| even being variations of typical shadows depending on their | |
| abilities as some can combine other abilities with their | |
| darkness to create unique abilities. Their base darkness powers | |
| are normal shadows and primordial shadows, despite how their | |
| manipulations are used, but among other darkness types to learn, | |
| death wraiths can learn to convert their natural darkness into | |
| other darkness types depending on their training and what | |
| darkness variations they choose to learn from their training. | |
| Normal shadows don't cost as much power to use but are less | |
| powerful, while primordial shadows are more powerful than normal | |
| shadows but cost more power to use as a result. Of course, as | |
| one might guess, most types of shadows are counter-able by | |
| light, or in some cases, life energy in the cases that certain | |
| shadows can't be dispelled by light alone. Darkness can also be | |
| countered by fire and lightning if one knows how to use the | |
| elementals properly. | |
| - Shadow Meld/Planeswalking: This technique, which death wraiths | |
| refer to as "shadow walking", lets a death wraith travel around | |
| using shadows, as they are able to fuse into shadows and go | |
| anywhere in the world as long as there is access to a shadow, | |
| granted there is no supernatural warding for teleportation or | |
| anything blocking them from connecting to the shadows in the | |
| area. By using shadows, they are able to travel through the | |
| shadow realm using the shadows, which connects every realm as | |
| every realm has shadows in some form. In addition to being able | |
| to go anywhere in the world, they are also able to go between | |
| afterlives as well, in which they are able to also go between | |
| the Veil where human souls remain after they die, since their | |
| job requires taking souls to the afterlife. They also have a | |
| special connection to go to the Hall of Souls, in which they | |
| usually bring lost souls or souls that aren't recorded to go | |
| anywhere else as part of their job to protect the living world. | |
| This technique requires only a death wraith to know where they | |
| want to go, though since they are born and raised in the shadow | |
| realm, most death wraith know their way around instinctively. | |
| This can also be used in battle to a degree, if the death wraith | |
| can meld into a shadow if they want to teleport around the | |
| battlefield, with some having special techniques using this. | |
| However, it is worth nothing that the death wraith has to enter | |
| a shadow in order to use this, and destroying a shadow can | |
| damage a death wraith if one does something like using a | |
| flashbang to temporarily negate shadows. This technique uses the | |
| shadows in place of teleportation techniques, and death wraiths | |
| can teleport using almost any kind of shadow and use it to | |
| connect to any other shadow as long as the area they are or want | |
| to go is not warded or guarded against teleportation or shadow | |
| travel (which some races can ward and protect against | |
| teleportation). Unlike dark spirits who can fuse into darkness | |
| without a light source, death wraiths cannot enter shadows in | |
| pure darkness without risking accessing the Deep Shadow Realm, | |
| as pure darkness often acts as a conduit for the Deep Shadow | |
| Realm because of how Xeles's darkness connects to the universes | |
| unlike the death wraith's side of the Shadow Realm, who's side | |
| of the Shadow Realm is connected to the shadows of the living | |
| world. However, this also works in reverse, where the dark | |
| spirits usually disappear in pure darkness rather than accessing | |
| shadows because of the fact they risk going into Toranoraos' | |
| realm where they could be hunted down and killed by death | |
| wraiths. However, one should know that one cannot access the | |
| Deep Shadow Realm in pure darkness without some sort of | |
| supernatural shadow movement ability, and this only happens to | |
| those that try to shadow meld when in pure darkness. | |
| - Shadow Stealth/Shadow Presence Suppression: Another technique | |
| using shadows, in which death wraiths can use shadows to hide | |
| their presence. Death wraiths are able to blend shadows around | |
| them, in which they are able to not only become invisible in the | |
| shadows, but they are also able to hide their presence from | |
| other supernaturals, not even being able to be sensed by anyone | |
| other than another death wraith or a dark spirit that uses | |
| shadows. Death wraiths' natural ability for stealth and shadow | |
| melding make this a fairly simple technique to them, where they | |
| are able to do it fairly easily if they have enough shadows to | |
| work with and are able to blend into the shadows. To most | |
| people, they will just see a typical shadow, which would | |
| normally not draw any suspicion. Though if the death wraith | |
| doesn't have enough shadows to work with, the shadow they blend | |
| with might appear unnatural, or not blend with them all the way | |
| to make them unable to be seen. This is a technique that death | |
| wraiths are able to use once mastering shadow melding, making | |
| stealth even easier. This makes many death wraiths masters of | |
| stealth, where they are able to use darkness and shadows to | |
| their advantage, and this technique makes them even harder to | |
| spot when they are trying to hide from opponents or threats. | |
| However, just like shadow travel, this requires blending with | |
| the shadows completely, and destroying the shadows with | |
| something like intense light can damage the death wraith if they | |
| don't get out of the shadows before the shadow is destroyed. | |
| Usually, light is the main thing to worry about, but certain | |
| other powers that destroy shadows can also damage death wraiths, | |
| such as some special fire techniques that burn shadows or holy | |
| power that purifies shadows. | |
| - Shadow/Darkness Regeneration: This power has two stages, in | |
| which death wraiths are able to use the power of shadows to heal | |
| and regenerate themselves. The first part of this is that they | |
| have a normal regeneration which they are able to heal from | |
| injuries passively, having supernatural regeneration similar to | |
| other supernatural creatures, except that a death wraith's | |
| regeneration is completely powered by darkness and shadows. This | |
| regeneration is able to regenerate damage by using darkness as | |
| it's power source, whether it is from the area around the death | |
| wraith or if it comes from the death wraith's own dark nature. | |
| This lets them regenerate most wounds, though it doesn't let | |
| them regenerate organs, their brain or help them against iron or | |
| blessed sea salt (their biggest weaknesses) unless they use the | |
| second stage of this regeneration. The second stage however, can | |
| be used to heal them completely, granted they aren't killed by | |
| the injuries they have. Once the death wraith melds into the | |
| shadows, they are able to heal much more quickly as they absorb | |
| the darkness of shadows or darkness they are melded into, even | |
| being able to heal their organs and heal from iron and blessed | |
| sea salt damage that can overwhelm their first stage | |
| regeneration. This second stage regeneration can heal far more | |
| than the first stage regeneration. However, due to the nature of | |
| this, the second stage is easier to interrupt as all one has to | |
| do is destroy the shadow they are melded into in order to | |
| prevent the death wraith from using the second stage ability. It | |
| is possible to interrupt the first stage regeneration with | |
| powerful enough light to destroy any darkness the death wraith | |
| might use, forcing them to use their own power to regenerate. | |
| This can also be interrupted with varanium and other | |
| regeneration negation abilities (both stages), and can keep the | |
| user from regenerating. Also, this doesn't work against spirit | |
| infections or spiritual based poisons, as either stage cannot | |
| fix these problems in a death wraith. | |
| - Shadow Weapons: Every death wraith can create shadow | |
| constructs to a degree, but this is an ability that uniquely | |
| creates darkness weapons that a death wraith can use. While each | |
| death wraith still has their soul bound weapons, death wraiths | |
| can create their own weapons made from shadows. This could be as | |
| simple as making swords out of shadows, or making bows and | |
| arrows out of shadows, or making projectile weapons like | |
| throwing knives or similar projectiles, or even making guns out | |
| of shadows (though the user has to know how guns work and be | |
| able to replicate that with darkness). The weapons function much | |
| like normal weapons (as long as the death wraith understands how | |
| the weapons work) and are powered by their shadow power. There | |
| are a number of options depending on the death wraiths given the | |
| number of weapon possibilities, and the weapons can be formed to | |
| have special darkness abilities as well. For example, a sword | |
| made of purifying darkness could destroy a dark spirit, or a | |
| deathly darkness weapon could do more damage to a lost soul. | |
| Death wraiths can also do things like create weapons that can | |
| release waves of darkness in attacks (such as a darkness sword | |
| being able to fire a darkness slashing wave) or shapeshift their | |
| weapons (like turning a sword into a chain whip), depending on | |
| how creative the death wraith gets with this power. Some have | |
| been known to create shadow scythes, shadow claw gauntlets, and | |
| some can even form more complex weapons depending on what the | |
| death wraith prefers to fight with. This offers a variety of | |
| options to attack when a death wraith isn't using their own | |
| darkness abilities. Of course, as one might expect, these | |
| darkness weapons are vulnerable to weaknesses to darkness such | |
| as light, and other creative ways to counter darkness like some | |
| that use fire and lightning. It is also worth noting that those | |
| with aura breaker weapons and energy negation abilities or items | |
| can also break these weapons easily since the weapons are made | |
| of shadows. | |
| - Death Wraith Elementals: Contrary to popular belief, death | |
| wraiths don't use shadow elementals like people think, but they | |
| use basic elementals based on what they have affinities for. | |
| However, they don't use elementals the same way mortals do, in | |
| which they have a different understanding of elements than | |
| mortals and use them a different way. For the death wraiths, | |
| elementals exist in one of four states of matter that they learn | |
| to manipulate: solid matter manipulation, liquid matter | |
| manipulation, gas matter manipulation, and plasma matter | |
| manipulation. Depending on the power gained, most are able to | |
| gain multiple abilities depending on the element used, in which | |
| their understanding in elements is more based on the | |
| understanding of the forms of matter than on the elements | |
| themselves. Each has it's own benefits, with each having | |
| strengths and weaknesses. Solid matter manipulation mostly | |
| involves earth manipulation, where death wraiths are able to | |
| control anything with solid structure, like glass, sand, dirt, | |
| rock, and even metal or concrete. Liquid matter manipulation | |
| lets a death wraith control liquid, in which they are able to | |
| control anything from acid, to water if it's in liquid form, | |
| even being able to control the temperature of liquids like | |
| creating ice and boiling liquid. Gas matter manipulation is | |
| similar to wind manipulation, where the user is able to control | |
| anything in gas form with this usually meaning controlling the | |
| air around them. This includes being able to control wind, but | |
| can be used to do things like manipulate explosive gases, create | |
| poisonous gases, or even create wind attacks. Plasma | |
| manipulation involves controlling energy, which usually consists | |
| mostly of controlling energy-based powers like fire, lightning | |
| and even radiation energy. These powers, however, also come with | |
| corresponding weaknesses, like solid matter manipulation being | |
| counter-able like any other earth manipulation and each type | |
| being counter-able by another form of matter manipulation in | |
| some way. Kinei is a plasma user, though he doesn't really use | |
| plasma much other than using the energy properties to twist his | |
| darkness into forms with similar energy type properties (like | |
| twisting his darkness into a flame-like state by copying flame's | |
| properties). | |
| - Adaptability/Power Users: Like most mortals, death wraiths are | |
| adaptable and able to learn the same abilities as mortals can | |
| (for the most part) thanks to the time they spend in the living | |
| world, and how adaptable they were made by Toranoraos. This | |
| includes being able to learn things like magic, mana, psychic, | |
| or even holy/unholy abilities depending on what they have | |
| affinities for (Example: Some death wraiths might have an | |
| affinity for magic, while some might be more tuned to psychic or | |
| holy/unholy abilities). A death wraith is able to learn these in | |
| the same way as other mortals, such as learning certain arts | |
| like mana user abilities or spirit energy user abilities | |
| depending on their skill sets and affinities. Usually, they can | |
| learn these from other death wraiths or from the mortals who use | |
| these techniques depending on their training and anyone they can | |
| learn from. Usually, death wraiths can learn special skills | |
| depending on their affinities, where they are able to learn | |
| usually up to two or three special skill sets depending on their | |
| age and training. For the most part, most typically stick to one | |
| or two though, since some of the skill sets require extensive | |
| training and practice to be useful, and it is typically better | |
| to master one special set of skills than gain a number of them | |
| that one cannot fully master (though having more may mean more | |
| ways to attack different kinds of enemies at the cost of not | |
| being able to fully master multiple skillsets to maintain their | |
| multiple skillsets). However, while a death wraith gains the | |
| strength of whatever class power they gain, they also gain the | |
| weaknesses, such as magic users being weak to magic negation or | |
| their magic not hurting those immune to magic. This applies to | |
| all abilities learned, which means death wraiths have to weigh | |
| strengths and weaknesses of classes to find out what will work | |
| best for them. They are able to learn the same powers as | |
| mortals, and some death wraiths are even born with special | |
| abilities, which is most common in death wraith hybrids. | |
| - Soul Reaper Kido: Despite not being soul reapers, death | |
| wraiths have worked well enough with the soul reapers that death | |
| wraiths can use the spiritual power of kido that the soul | |
| reapers typically use if they train with the soul reapers. Since | |
| death wraiths are spiritual in nature, death wraiths can also | |
| learn this ability through training with soul reapers, as soul | |
| reapers and death wraiths usually work together to take on | |
| hollows at times. This allows them to learn certain kido | |
| techniques that they might have an affinity for depending on | |
| their skillset and the soul reaper they train with. Soul reaper | |
| kido is broken down into two different sections. The first is | |
| Hado arts, which are attack abilities using spirit power in | |
| different ways. Depending on the art, each art has it's own | |
| abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and are mostly focused | |
| around offensive attack. The second is the Bakudo arts, which | |
| are focused around defense and restraint. These arts focus on | |
| defensive techniques, and also have their own abilities, | |
| strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the skill level of the | |
| death wraith, some are able to learn more advanced kido arts if | |
| they are advanced enough at learning these arts. Typically, the | |
| higher the number of the art, the harder it is to learn, with | |
| higher level kido arts being far more powerful than lesser arts. | |
| The highest level hados are in the 90s, which are very difficult | |
| ones to learn that usually have a heavy cost to use (such as one | |
| that requires sacrifice of the body in order to use). There are | |
| some that act similarly but are different in nature. As an | |
| example, Hado 33 is Sokatsui, but Hado 73 is Soren Sokatsui, a | |
| much stronger version of Sokatsui and much harder to learn. | |
| Typically, each has it's own counter options, and death wraiths | |
| can only learn powers they have an affinity for (for example, a | |
| death wraith with no ability to manipulate ice is not going to | |
| be able to learn an ice-type kido attack). These work the same | |
| way as they do with soul reapers, and each one is countered the | |
| same way. These are very useful against not only lost souls and | |
| hollows, but are also very useful against dark spirits as well | |
| (as long as it's not one that can absorb energy like a consumer) | |
| so it is often favored by death wraiths who work with soul | |
| reapers. | |
| - Ghost Sight, Ghost Touch and Ghost Sense: Since the death | |
| wraiths were made to interact with the spirits of dead mortals, | |
| supernaturals, and deities as one of their primary purposes, | |
| death wraiths are able to interact with almost any manner of | |
| spirit or ghost, including dead souls and dark spirits. For the | |
| most part, death wraiths have multiple abilities dealing with | |
| their interactions of ghosts, where they are able to interact | |
| with them in ways most mortals cannot. Since ghosts don't | |
| typically manifest in the living world until they've become | |
| vengeful spirits or hollows, death wraiths have to be able to | |
| interact with ghosts in the veil, which they can do even from | |
| the living world to a degree using their special ghost sight | |
| ability and ghost sense. They are able to see ghosts, and see | |
| their essence even when they are not manifested thanks to this | |
| ability where most beings other than reapers would not be able | |
| to see ghosts. This includes ghosts not physical manifested in | |
| the physical world, in which death wraiths can detect any kind | |
| of ghost or spirit using their ghost sense that lets them sense | |
| almost any form of ghost or soul that they might encounter. They | |
| are also able to touch, grab and attack ghosts including ones | |
| not physically manifested, in which they are able to attack them | |
| in any form and can physically interact with ghosts and souls no | |
| matter what form they take. Death wraiths are also able to sense | |
| ghosts as well, having the ability to sense the difference | |
| between ghosts and certain angelic or demonic entities that | |
| possess creatures. However, death wraiths cannot interact with | |
| ghosts that have possessed people, and usually have to use their | |
| soul sword to attack a ghost if it has possessed a person. | |
| Ghosts and lost souls are typically the death wraith's main | |
| opponents besides dark spirits, in which some are able to even | |
| generate abilities to counter death wraith natural abilities to | |
| contain and interact with ghosts. | |
| - Soul Storage/Collection: Since it's a death wraith's purpose | |
| is to collect and shuttle souls to the afterlife, death wraiths | |
| must have their own ways to take souls to the afterlife. Every | |
| death wraith has some way to store and collect souls, in which | |
| they are able to use this to take souls with them in some way. | |
| For the most part, this skill is pretty self explanatory, at | |
| least as far as it's purpose, which is to make souls easy to | |
| carry and take with them so death wraiths can more easily take | |
| souls to the afterlife. But when it comes to functions, this is | |
| different for each death wraith, as each death wraith typically | |
| has their own way of doing this. Some can do things like storing | |
| souls in bottles, some use other objects to store souls, or some | |
| can even store souls in their bodies temporarily through soul | |
| absorption (though this is a forbidden art for most due to the | |
| dangers of devouring souls). This mostly depends on the death | |
| wraith, as they all have their own ways of collecting souls for | |
| transport to the afterlife. Usually, this involves some sort of | |
| object that they can bind a soul to. Souls typically cannot | |
| break out of this type of containment on their own, unless they | |
| have some sort of special ability that affects space and time, | |
| like space/time distortion energy. This also only works on dead | |
| souls, and cannot be used to take a soul out of a living body or | |
| even remove a possessing soul from the body. This ability is | |
| only for storing dead souls and can only be used as such. It is | |
| possible for others to destroy the objects holding a soul as | |
| well, so this is another thing that plays a part on trying to | |
| keep a soul contained, such as someone might be able to shatter | |
| a glass bottle holding a soul by dropping it, or destroying it | |
| with an attack. | |
| - Soul Purification/Corruption Removal: Another aspect of a | |
| death wraith's job to ferry souls to the afterlife is soul | |
| purification and removing corruption. While soul reapers usually | |
| take on hollows and use their zanpakutos after defeating them to | |
| purify them, death wraiths are able to remove corruption from | |
| souls using their ghost touch and interaction abilities. When | |
| using this, a death wraith is able to interact with souls and | |
| remove things like corruption from them in the form of ripping | |
| out the corruptive energy, or using their purifying shadows to | |
| purify a soul of corruption. Usually, this also depends death | |
| wraith, as some have unique purification techniques for | |
| purifying souls depending on who they are and their skillsets, | |
| such as some who might use magic could use magic based | |
| purification abilities. A soul must be purified before transport | |
| to the afterlife, and any risk of being turned hollow or higher | |
| level specter must be removed before taking them to the | |
| afterlife or the Hall of Souls. Typically, souls will resist | |
| being purified, given that they typically get corrupted from not | |
| wanting to leave and stay in the living world after rejecting a | |
| grim reaper taking them to the afterlife. It is difficult to | |
| purify a soul not willing to be purified, so death wraiths often | |
| have to fight in order to defeat a corrupted soul before they | |
| can purify it. Thankfully, their soul swords have a main | |
| function to purify souls if they cannot do it as easily, and | |
| defeating a soul or hollow typically will allow them to pacify | |
| it long enough to remove the corruption if they defeat it in | |
| battle. However, death wraiths have to be careful, as they can | |
| become corrupted themselves if they don't discard the corruption | |
| or if they are affected by corruption due to special abilities, | |
| which is something many death wraiths take very seriously and | |
| try to avoid. | |
| - Dark Spirit Hunting, Dark Spirit Trapping and Dark Spirit | |
| Destruction: The other primary function of death wraiths is to | |
| hunt dark spirits of the shadow realm, in which death wraiths | |
| are designed specifically to fight dark spirits. Death wraiths | |
| know easily how to hunt all dark spirits of the shadow realm, | |
| and know most of the strengths and weaknesses as it is their job | |
| to keep them from entering the living world to try and interact | |
| or kill mortal beings. Death wraiths are not only able to hunt | |
| them, but they are also able to use their soul collection and | |
| containment abilities on dark spirits to trap them as well, | |
| where they are able to trap them in the same way as souls. | |
| Typically, this allows a death wraith to trap and contain a dark | |
| spirit in a similar way, where they will often use this to | |
| capture stronger dark spirits they cannot destroy, and will | |
| often use this to take a dark spirit back to the shadow realm | |
| and throw them deeper into the shadow realm where they are less | |
| likely to make it to the living world. In addition to capturing | |
| though, death wraiths possess the ability to destroy dark | |
| spirits, in which all death wraiths are usually able to destroy | |
| dark spirits with their soul sword and with their purifying | |
| darkness, though some may develop other special abilities for | |
| destroying dark spirits depending on their skillset. Death | |
| wraiths have to fight dark spirits quite a lot, and have to | |
| sometimes take on enhanced dark spirits that might get enhanced | |
| by mortal interference, such as those like Vobu and Zenrael (in | |
| some universes) who use their power to strengthen dark spirits. | |
| Typically, dark spirits aren't fought like normal beings, as | |
| most of them are typically not able to be hurt or destroyed by | |
| most mortals given their unique and usually intangible nature. | |
| However, death wraiths are able to counter that with their ghost | |
| touch and dark spirit destruction abilities, where they are able | |
| to fight dark spirits. While they can destroy dark spirits if | |
| they can overpower them, dark spirits also specialize in | |
| fighting death wraiths, as they are the shadow realm antithesis | |
| to death wraiths, and many dark spirits come in a variety of | |
| abilities and types, just as death wraiths have had to by | |
| learning adaptability and elemental abilities, so death wraiths | |
| have to keep up with the kinds of dark spirits that exist, and | |
| sometimes have to adapt if they meet a new type of dark spirit | |
| they don't know (which death wraiths are used to doing as there | |
| are a lot of ways new dark spirit types are being created). | |
| - Soul Absorption (Forbidden Art): This is a forbidden art among | |
| death wraiths these days, in which death wraiths have gotten | |
| away from this and this art tended to possibly cause corruption | |
| or addiction to devouring souls. There was a time when death | |
| wraiths would feed on the corruption of souls in the living | |
| world, or feed on evil souls in order to survive and sustain | |
| their power, but eventually the death wraiths adapted to mortal | |
| forms of food, so they no longer need to use this. Now, these | |
| two arts are forbidden, as they can come with more risks than | |
| rewards. The first forbidden art is soul absorption where the | |
| death wraith takes the whole soul and devours it, using it for | |
| sustenance in the same way a human would eat their food. A soul | |
| can restore a death wraith's energy, and sustain them for up to | |
| four hours, and restore a death wraith's darkness power if they | |
| are low on energy. This power works similar to other soul | |
| eaters, but came with a major risk, and that was soul devouring | |
| addition that would cause death wraiths to become addicted to | |
| eating souls as they continued to devour souls. Because of this | |
| addiction, this was one of the reasons death wraiths had to | |
| adapt to mortal foods so that they could avoid the dangers of | |
| this art. Those that use this art are able to use it just like | |
| soul eaters, where they can use this to absorb souls and grow | |
| stronger and can sustain themselves on souls. They can also gain | |
| new abilities from this art if they devour a soul, gaining the | |
| abilities it had. However, unlike other soul eaters, death | |
| wraith natures didn't change when using this, meaning their | |
| physiology didn't change. While this meant that they wouldn't | |
| gain more weaknesses with physiology changes, it also means that | |
| some powers cannot be gained by death wraiths, such as death | |
| wraiths not being able to learn any kind of light abilities | |
| (except for very rare mutations like Kitsune Resei who use both | |
| light and darkness). These days, this art is forbidden, and | |
| those that use it are often either exiled or closely monitored | |
| for signs of soul devouring addiction to avoid death wraiths | |
| devouring souls unnecessarily. While Kinei could do this, he | |
| never has, and likely never would do to it being a taboo. | |
| - Corruption Absorption (Forbidden Art): The second forbidden | |
| and outdated technique death wraiths used for sustenance is | |
| corruption absorption. It used to be that death wraiths purified | |
| souls by absorbing the corruption into themselves, where they | |
| would devour it as sustenance in order to help make sure the | |
| corruption had somewhere to go. This made it easier to purify | |
| souls, as the corruption would be more easily able to be removed | |
| if it was able to go somewhere specific. This allows a death | |
| wraith to consume corrupting energy, such as hollowfied soul | |
| corruption, or other types of soul corruption that change mortal | |
| souls or corrupt them in some form. The benefit is that the | |
| corruption can not only restore a death wraith's power (though | |
| not to the degree of devouring a soul), but the corruption | |
| energy can make a death wraith stronger while it is in their | |
| body, similar to how eating certain diets can make affect a | |
| mortal's overall health. Typically, this used to be a good way | |
| to remove corruption before death wraiths fully developed | |
| certain purification arts, and worked as sustenance before they | |
| adapted to mortal foods. However, the risk to this particular | |
| art is that death wraiths can poison themselves with this way of | |
| sustenance if they aren't careful with things like hollow power | |
| or human emotional energy, as taking corruption into themselves | |
| can be a double-edged sword. Some death wraiths, if they are not | |
| fully capable of handling the corruption energy will be | |
| corrupted and changed by this power. This was the main danger of | |
| this power, as death wraiths could be turned into hollows or | |
| twisted spirits if they were corrupted, which would turn them | |
| into enemies of the death wraiths. Luckily, this art isn't | |
| really used anymore, but those that use this art are usually | |
| very closely monitored for corruption and are typically exiled | |
| or killed if corruption is found in them. And many times, | |
| corruption can be permanent in a death wraith if they are | |
| affected by this, and can get worse over time depending on the | |
| strength of the corruption. While Kinei could do this, he never | |
| has, and likely never would do to it being a taboo. He is even | |
| more against it after what corruption did to Anna in creating | |
| her hollow personality. | |
| - Dark Spirit Bonding (Forbidden Art): There have been death | |
| wraiths that seek to utilize dark spirits to their advantage, | |
| and some who have thought they could control some dark spirits. | |
| Those that foolishly believed this created an art that bonds | |
| dark spirits to a death wraith, which is a very dangerous art. | |
| Users are able to use this to bond a dark spirit to themselves, | |
| and call on it whenever they so choose to help them in battle or | |
| empower them passively. For example, certain dark spirits will | |
| trade dark arts in exchange for energy from the body, or some | |
| might gain strength from certain energies. One death wraith even | |
| managed to bond a consumer to themselves using this art that | |
| allowed the death wraith to absorb energy, at least until the | |
| consumer overpowered the death wraith and consumed his soul. If | |
| the death wraith can overpower the dark spirit, they can use | |
| this art to bond the dark spirit to them and essentially take | |
| the power of a dark spirit. Whatever spirits are bonded to the | |
| death wraith grant their powers to the death wraith, as long as | |
| the death wraith can control the power of the dark spirit. This | |
| in turn creates a fusion of dark spirit and death wraith power | |
| that some death wraiths have become very powerful using. | |
| However, the danger to this is that this art almost always ends | |
| in the death wraith being overpowered and devoured by the dark | |
| spirit, as dark spirits will always fight back to try and take | |
| over the death wraith. Death wraiths can usually only bond one | |
| or two dark spirits to themselves at any given time (one if it's | |
| a stronger dark spirit like a collector or consumer). This is a | |
| forbidden art for a reason, as there have been no successful | |
| lives that didn't end in tragedy when using this art. When using | |
| this art, the death wraith must remain in perfect control, or | |
| they could become possessed by the dark spirit, or worse. If the | |
| dark spirit completely overpowers the death wraith's spirit, | |
| most dark spirits will consume the soul of the death wraith, and | |
| then become a just a dark spirit possessed death wraith that is | |
| forever lost to the dark spirit (which some refer to as a "Dark | |
| Wraith" or sometimes a "Consumed Wraith"). While this is the | |
| most powerful darkness ability a death wraith could use, it | |
| always comes with a great cost, and the death wraith must always | |
| live with the mind of the dark spirit trying to corrupt them (at | |
| least until the dark spirit eventually wins and takes over the | |
| mind). This art is forbidden to use, and those that do use it | |
| are instantly imprisoned in the Twilight Realm due to how many | |
| issues have been created when a dark spirit takes over a death | |
| wraith (such as the consumer death wraith became a dark wraith | |
| and killed three teams of dark spirit hunter death wraiths | |
| before it was finally stopped). While Kinei could do this, he | |
| never has, and likely never would do to it being a taboo. Kinei | |
| would also avoid this one like the plague because of the fact he | |
| isn't stupid enough to think he can control a dark spirit like | |
| other death wraiths stronger than him have tried to do. | |
| Basic Nightfire Arts and Nightfire Elementals: | |
| - Death Wraith Nightfire Shadow Arts: Unlike the Darkfires who | |
| are about elemental power and combining it with spirit energy, | |
| the Nightfires are more about combining their darkness power | |
| with different darkness forms to create their own variations of | |
| darkness powers. While the Nightfires still have most of the | |
| same arts, their base arts are very different, and work quite a | |
| bit differently. The Nightfires start out simple by learning | |
| darkness, in which they learn to utilize it by combining changes | |
| in darkness form and nature to create unique darkness types. | |
| However, there are a few differences between the Nightfires and | |
| Darkfires to note. The first is that instead of elemental power, | |
| the Nightfires utilize darkness as their main power and do not | |
| even use the death wraith elemental manipulation in this power. | |
| Instead of forming elemental power like the Darkfires, the | |
| Nightfires instead focus on only using darkness as it is their | |
| strongest element. Instead of things like flames or lightning, | |
| the Nightfires replicate elemental energy forms by manipulating | |
| the energy from of darkness to create new forms of darkness | |
| (more in darkness energy form change). The next major difference | |
| is that the Nightfires don't fuse spirit energy to their | |
| darkness, but instead combine their shadow types to create a | |
| change in darkness nature. Depending on how the change in | |
| darkness energy goes (both in change in form and change in | |
| nature), this determines the abilities of the Nightfire in terms | |
| of how they use their darkness power (Such as purifying darkness | |
| to burning darkness could create burning darkness that can | |
| purify dark spirits). For the most part, the Nightfires are very | |
| similar to the Darkfires, except for subtle differences in the | |
| base abilities that they have changed over time that have led | |
| the Nightfires to making their own versions of the Darkfire | |
| arts. For the most part, the Nightfires darkness elementals are | |
| all darkness types, and can be countered as such. For example, | |
| no matter the darkness, the Nightfire's elemental powers can be | |
| countered by intense light, or one can use certain counter | |
| elements to counter the elemental natures (like countering | |
| burning darkness with ice power). However, there are certain | |
| aspects that aren't countered the same depending on the element | |
| (IE burning darkness doesn't burn under the same rules so | |
| creating a vacuum environment to make it stop burning doesn't | |
| work). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Enhanced Spirit Connection and Shadow Realm | |
| Connection: While the Nightfires don't use spirit energy to | |
| create their darkness elementals, they do learn to balance their | |
| spirit energy and they do focus inward to control their power. | |
| In doing this, the Nightfire learns discipline and self control, | |
| in which they learn to control their power with absolute | |
| precision. Since the death wraiths are about self control and | |
| discipline, and they teach this to all death wraiths, the | |
| Nightfires usually fit well into this aspect because they learn | |
| self control and discipline beyond that of most death wraiths. | |
| In this, the Nightfires learn to tap deep into their spirits, | |
| even though they don't use spirit energy (though some can learn | |
| and become spirit users in this way if they so choose). The main | |
| purpose of this is to learn to control their power and | |
| discipline their body and supernatural energies to more easily | |
| and more precisely control their power. However, while this is | |
| very useful for control and discipline, the other main advantage | |
| to this is that the Nightfires also gain an enhanced connection | |
| to the darkness they are born from, and can attain a stronger | |
| connection to the Shadow Realm that they can utilize to | |
| strengthen their darkness abilities. While normally the spirit | |
| connection would allow a user to connect to spirit energy and to | |
| the spirits of the spirit realm, the death wraiths focus in | |
| their spirit is quite different since they are born of the | |
| Shadow Realm (meaning that where the Darkfires might tap into | |
| the Spirit Realm, the Nightfires tap into the Shadow Realm). | |
| This connection can be very useful, in which the Nightfire is | |
| able to strengthen their connection to the darkness, as well as | |
| their ability to utilize darkness (in which their enhanced | |
| connection can grant them the ability to call on stronger | |
| darkness and control more darkness at once than some death | |
| wraiths can). With this connection though, there are risks. The | |
| Nightfires have to always be careful that they don't tap too | |
| deep into the Shadow Realm, as the deeper parts of the Shadow | |
| Realm are Xeles's domain, and even the death wraiths cannot tap | |
| into that domain without severe negative consequences (most go | |
| mad, or their darkness power breaks completely). All Nightfires | |
| have to be careful of this, and have to learn control partially | |
| to keep themselves from accidently tapping into the deeper parts | |
| of the Shadow Realm. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Darkness Energy Form Change: This ability is an | |
| alternate variation of elemental mastery, where instead of | |
| focusing on other elements, the Nightfires only focus on one, | |
| and that is the darkness from which all death wraiths are born | |
| from. This is the second step to a Nightfire's training in the | |
| Nightfire Arts. Instead of learning different elements, the | |
| Nightfires instead create all of their elementals through their | |
| darkness. This is the second step of their training, where they | |
| learn to utilize their darkness in different forms by changing | |
| the darkness's form. While there are generic darkness abilities | |
| for death wraiths to change darkness forms into things like | |
| burning darkness or freezing darkness, the Nightfires do this | |
| with far more efficient ability, and without needing the same | |
| emotional requirements used by most death wraiths (where burning | |
| darkness would usually require strong emotion, or freezing | |
| darkness would require a coldness to their emotions). Instead, | |
| the Nightfires use change energy form to its fullest, and change | |
| their darkness form. The death wraiths of the Nightfire family | |
| are able to create different elemental styles of darkness, such | |
| as being able to turn darkness into a static form to create dark | |
| lightning, changing the darkness to absorb all the heat from an | |
| area until the area literally freezes using freezing darkness, | |
| or even solidify darkness to create solid darkness to replicate | |
| earth manipulation in darkness form. There are variations of | |
| every Nightfire darkness form manipulation to cover all elements | |
| with the exception of light manipulation (though some get around | |
| this by learning corrupted light by fusing darkness to light, | |
| but this requires a source of light to use and special training) | |
| which include Burning Darkness, Shadow Ice, Night Water, Dark | |
| Lightning, Windful Dusk, and Black Rock that cover all known | |
| Nightfire elementals (darkness is not used in this since it | |
| would just be normal darkness if used with this method). Unlike | |
| the Darkfire clan who's elements are chosen for them by their | |
| affinities, the Nightfires can learn any of the elemental forms | |
| they want to learn and can choose from a young age what they | |
| want to train in. While Nightfires may have affinities for | |
| learning certain variations more easily, the Nightfires can | |
| choose any variation they want to train in. Most Nightfires | |
| usually choose two or three, with some older Nightfires might | |
| learn up to 4 or 5 if they have mastered their initial darkness | |
| elementals. For the most part, these darkness types can be | |
| countered like normal elementals to an extent, but some | |
| elementals do have slightly different rules. For example, | |
| burning darkness scorches everything with darkness energy by | |
| condensing it, so it doesn't burn using oxygen like normal | |
| flames (meaning vacuum environments don't stop it). Each | |
| darkness form has it's own strengths and weaknesses, usually | |
| being somewhat similarly countered by their counter elements (IE | |
| Black Rock can be countered by wind manipulation), and light can | |
| counter any of these elementals because light can counter the | |
| darkness used. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Darkness Nature Fusion Change: This is the | |
| second step to the Nightfire training, and the second step to | |
| creating the darkness power required for the Nightfire | |
| elementals. In this step, once the Nightfire changes the | |
| darkness into the form they want, they must then apply the | |
| nature they want to the darkness they use. Depending on the | |
| nature change, they can create different shadow type elementals | |
| depending on the darkness type they fuse to their elemental. In | |
| this power, the Nightfire must learn specific darkness types | |
| they can then fuse to their darkness, which depend on the user. | |
| Depending on the user, the darkness type will have unique | |
| effects on the elemental and grant it slightly different | |
| properties. When using this power, the darkness type can be any | |
| darkness type the Nightfire has, and some can even learn unique | |
| darkness types that they can utilize if they have a skill for | |
| unique darkness types. For example, purifying darkness can be | |
| fused to an elemental to give the shadow elemental a purifying | |
| nature which can have special effects based on the elemental it | |
| is paired with (Such as a purifying burning darkness could be | |
| used to burn away dark spirits, or purifying dark lightning | |
| might use purification energy as a conductor). This only | |
| requires the Nightfire to train in specific darkness types, and | |
| almost any darkness type can be fused to the Nightfire | |
| elemental. This is another power that, unlike the Darkfires, a | |
| Nightfire can train in any power they desire to learn (usually | |
| chosen based on what they want to do, such as using death-based | |
| darkness may be good for hunting lost souls, or purifying | |
| darkness may be good for hunting dark spirits). Some death | |
| wraiths can even create unique darkness abilities, where some | |
| have created unique natures, such as one death wraith who | |
| created a living darkness variation by giving life to their | |
| darkness using their spirit energy to create a self-aware | |
| darkness they could exude from their body. Of course, this | |
| aspect can be countered like any other darkness, where light can | |
| counter the dark natures, though some may have other weaknesses, | |
| such as purifying darkness is countered by the Whispering | |
| Darkness of the Deep Shadow Realm, or death-based darkness can | |
| be countered by living energies. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elementals: This is the last step of | |
| the Nightfire shadow elemental, where they combine the nature | |
| and form changes to create their shadow elemental. Depending on | |
| the form and natures chosen by the Nightfire, the Nightfires can | |
| create shadow elementals that can be used in unique ways | |
| depending on the pairing of power that is used. For example, | |
| death-based darkness can burn away life energy and can scorch | |
| souls more easily (souls can be weakened but not destroyed by | |
| this method), or dark purifying lightning can be used to fry a | |
| dark spirits or destroy corruption by electrocution of purifying | |
| darkness energy. Each combination usually has unique effects, | |
| and the Nightfires may even create unique combinations if they | |
| have unique darkness abilities. Once created, the shadow | |
| elementals are all able to be used for specific purposes, and | |
| act much like normal elementals. As mentioned, there are a | |
| number of elemental types and natures, and most are chosen for | |
| specific purposes (such as dark spirit hunters may choose | |
| purifying darkness to combine with darkness elementals, or lost | |
| soul hunters may chose death-based darkness for their | |
| elementals). The elementals can also be more easily used by the | |
| Nightfires if they understand how the elemental works, which is | |
| best done if they are training in elementals they have | |
| affinities for so that they can use their elemental manipulation | |
| to understand more easily how to use said elementals. For | |
| example, a plasma user may use dark lightning or burning | |
| darkness more effectively. And as mentioned, the elementals can | |
| all be used similarly to their unique elementals (IE burning | |
| darkness can be used to burn people or create explosive attacks, | |
| or shadow ice can be used to create freezing attacks or create | |
| ice constructs). Depending on the elemental, each elemental is | |
| countered differently depending on the elemental used. Usually, | |
| the shadow elementals are best countered with light, as light | |
| can counter any of these elementals due to them all being | |
| darkness in nature. However, there is some limited use of | |
| counter elements, but some elements do behave differently so | |
| some do require specific mentions listed in each elements | |
| individual weaknesses (listed with the elements themselves). | |
| - Advanced Nightfire Training: Elemental Condensing: When using | |
| elemental power, sometimes normal elementals just don't pack | |
| enough of a punch. For this problem, the Nightfires adapted the | |
| Darkfire art of condensing matter into smaller space by smashing | |
| the molecules together to condense their darkness into more | |
| compact forms. This technique is a battle technique that the | |
| Nightfires utilize in their attack and defense, where they | |
| utilize this to create more condensed shadow elementals. | |
| Typically, this requires not only a mastery of the particular | |
| shadow elemental power, but also requires a mastery of changing | |
| the form of energy as well as changing the form of matter. | |
| However, when used properly, this can create much stronger | |
| shadow elemental abilities, where the Nightfires can create | |
| stronger attacks. In addition to the elementals themselves being | |
| stronger, the effects of the elementals also become much | |
| stronger, as the condensing of the elemental also has effects on | |
| what the elementals can do. For example, a condensed explosive | |
| burning darkness attack will explode with far more force than | |
| normal, due to the explosion being concentrated by the | |
| condensing of the burning darkness. Any shadow elemental can be | |
| used, and the effects depend on the elemental used. Nightfires | |
| can even control how much the shadow elemental is condensed, | |
| allowing more or less condensing to control how much power is | |
| put into their attacks. This is an advanced art, and Nightfires | |
| do have to be skilled with more than just elemental energy to | |
| use this effectively. It is also worth noting that the | |
| Nightfires who use this also have to expend more energy and | |
| concentration in order to use this, as using this will often | |
| require concentration to utilize this effectively. The more | |
| energy they condense, the stronger the attack they create at the | |
| cost of more condensing also costing more elemental power in | |
| order to use. And if a Nightfire doesn't do this correctly, | |
| their shadow elemental condensing could literally explode in | |
| their face, as not doing this correctly could cause an explosive | |
| reaction. As one might imagine, dodging these elements are still | |
| the same, but blocking is more or less what is different, as | |
| this is designed to be used against stronger opponents. One can | |
| still block this if they are strong enough, but with the | |
| condensed energy and amplified effects, the attacks are much | |
| harder to block. | |
| - Nightfire Base Shadow Type: Shadow-Infused Death Energy | |
| Manipulation: This is a very common shadow art among death | |
| wraiths, and a fairly basic ability they can learn. Since death | |
| wraiths are beings of death, they are able to learn to use death | |
| energy by drawing darkness from their deathly nature and focus | |
| on the death energy nature of their darkness. This power works | |
| as a mix of darkness and death energy, in which these shadows | |
| are infused with death energy that can be used in battle. These | |
| shadows can be used just like normal darkness, but have the | |
| effects of death energy such as rotting away objects. The death | |
| energy works great against living opponents, working against | |
| almost any kind of true living opponent. This is mostly used | |
| among the soul collection teams, as this power is typically used | |
| against lost souls to wear them down more quickly, thanks to the | |
| death energy's effects on souls. Typically, death energy can | |
| also be used to strengthen creatures with natures of death, such | |
| as other death wraiths and grim reapers, being very useful for | |
| when death wraiths work alongside grim reapers to take on | |
| certain lost souls. Since death wraiths are creatures of death, | |
| they don't have to worry about the balance of life and death in | |
| their body, as they don't use life energy in them at all like | |
| reapers would use to take human form. However, this means that | |
| life energy can be used to counter this in addition to light or | |
| holy power, since life is death energy's natural opposite. | |
| Unlike most beings, most death wraiths cannot use life energy, | |
| similar to who most cannot use light power. It is also worth | |
| noting that this shadow infused death energy cannot use | |
| necromancy techniques, not unless a death wraith gets to the | |
| intermediate skills and chooses to learn the shadow puppet | |
| technique. This is more just a basic energy manipulation that | |
| utilizes the properties of death energy but combined with | |
| darkness manipulation. As such, this can also be countered by | |
| light energy, holy power (if the holy power can counter the | |
| death power), and other counters to darkness and death energy | |
| manipulation. As a lost soul hunter, Kinei possesses this as his | |
| primary darkness type. | |
| - Nightfire Base Shadow Type: Grim Darkness: This is a darkness | |
| art that uses the darker negative part of the soul, and combines | |
| it with darkness to create a negatively powered darkness. Many | |
| death wraiths have positive power in their souls, but they have | |
| plenty of negative power that they can use for this ability as | |
| well. This darkness is a negative power darkness that is a type | |
| of enhanced darkness. Usually, this darkness is used as a more | |
| powerful darkness to try and counter light users, specifically | |
| holy light users. As one might imagine, this typically is used | |
| by those that hunt lost souls, since they sometimes must fight | |
| those that use light abilities. This darkness is used just like | |
| other darkness types, except that it is more powerful than | |
| normal darkness, and can be used to battle holy abilities as | |
| well thanks to the negative side of the soul that powers this | |
| ability. More advanced users of this ability are even able to do | |
| things like absorbing and crushing solid matter with intense | |
| pressure through gravity manipulation (advanced users), or | |
| manipulate the darkness's destructive power to make it able to | |
| overpower many other forms of elemental abilities. More advanced | |
| shadow users, ones who can do things like changing the | |
| consistency of shadows or making shadows acidic, can find plenty | |
| of ways to make use of this darkness. The negative powered | |
| darkness can also lead to other negative powered darkness | |
| skills, such as those that can learn demonic power might learn | |
| to fuse this with demonic power to create their own makeshift | |
| demonic shadows, or some have used the destructive power to fuse | |
| to shadow infused death energy to create a more powerful | |
| darkness that can do more damage to stronger lost souls. | |
| Typically, strong enough light can counter this ability, and | |
| some more powerful fire abilities can be used as well. It is | |
| also possible to use holy power to counter darkness, which works | |
| great if light fails, or works great if someone can use | |
| something like holy light. This is Kinei's second darkness type | |
| he has learned, and one of his main darkness types. | |
| - Nightfire Base Shadow Type: Purifying Darkness: One of the | |
| more unique shadow arts of a death wraith, in which they were | |
| granted this power by Toranoraos in order to fight dark spirits | |
| for the dark spirit hunter death wraith teams. This is a form of | |
| darkness power that purifies presences, and works on those with | |
| corrupted or dark presences similar to how holy power works on | |
| unholy presences. This power was designed specifically to | |
| destroy dark spirits of the shadow realm, in which this power | |
| works like a positive spirit power that is combined with | |
| darkness to create a darkness that can even be used to destroy | |
| dark spirits. However, this also does extra damage to those of | |
| corrupted natures, such as hollows and other corrupted spirits | |
| like being able to affect some demons. This darkness works just | |
| like normal darkness, except that it is a positive nature and a | |
| unique form of darkness not many races other than death races | |
| can use unless they are empowered by a death wraith or a special | |
| weapon that uses purifying darkness (though some can utilize | |
| this power through other means, it's just rare to see outside of | |
| death wraiths). Typically, this darkness is just like normal | |
| darkness in both strengths and weaknesses, in which this can be | |
| countered just like normal darkness as well. While this darkness | |
| isn't as strong as primordial darkness, it can even be used to | |
| purify other darkness users of darkness and hurt those that use | |
| darkness power, making this a dangerous power to use on any | |
| darkness user, which is the reason it works so well on dark | |
| spirits. Light is capable of countering this darkness, and | |
| unholy or corrupted light works best at countering this | |
| darkness. Death wraiths are also vulnerable to this, in which | |
| other death wraiths can hurt each other with this power, given | |
| it's nature to purify and destroy darkness using darkness power. | |
| However, death wraiths can only be hurt with other purifying | |
| darkness, and are not hurt by their own purifying darkness. | |
| Things like corrupted darkness can still hurt them, and counter | |
| this power fairly easily. After Kinei became Aeron Kazara's | |
| assassin unknowingly helping his enemy, Kinei learned this to | |
| counter the increase in dark spirits, however he has not at all | |
| managed to master this as of yet, since he hasn't had as much | |
| experience with it as his other darkness types (due to this | |
| still being a new darkness type he is using). | |
| - Nightfire Darkness Elemental: Purifying/Grim/Death Burning | |
| Darkness: This darkness is one of the main Nightfire elemental | |
| types, which is burning darkness. By utilizing this ability, | |
| Nightfires can utilize the ability to create heat using darkness | |
| to vibrate the molecules in the darkness to create heat, and | |
| then combine this with their darkness control to create a | |
| darkness that acts like a flame. Unlike other users of this, | |
| Nightfires don't have to use emotional power to utilize this, | |
| and can use this simply by mastering a change in energy form, as | |
| is common with many of their elementals. This darkness can be | |
| used just like fire attacks, such as using explosive darkness | |
| attacks, creating burning darkness to burn or melt things, or | |
| even creating blast type attacks of darkness. This power is | |
| designed to replicate fire using darkness, and works very | |
| similar except that this doesn't require oxygen to burn (making | |
| it so vacuum environments don't dispel this power). This also is | |
| useful against opponents that use fire or are immune to fire | |
| abilities, as this bypasses fire immunity and users of fire | |
| cannot absorb this burning darkness (some can use it and absorb | |
| theirs, but cannot absorb other people's burning darkness). This | |
| also is useful in the fact that this burning darkness can use | |
| darkness as fuel for this flame-like darkness, in which this can | |
| convert other darkness into darkness (with certain exceptions). | |
| And depending on what darkness type is combined with it, the | |
| Nightfire can create unique elemental abilities. The two main | |
| types of burning darkness used by the Nightfires are purifying | |
| burning darkness which uses purifying darkness to burn away dark | |
| spirits and corrupted presences, and death-based darkness which | |
| is useful for burning souls and burning life energy. For the | |
| most part, this darkness is best countered with light, though it | |
| can also be countered with ice or water abilities since it is | |
| essentially fire in darkness form. Aside from wind not being | |
| able to counter this by creating a vacuum, this essentially | |
| still acts just like normal flames except that it is darkness, | |
| and not flames. However, with burning darkness, it is usually | |
| difficult to counter due to it being a type of power that | |
| consumes like a flame but not being bound by the normal laws of | |
| fire (in that it doesn't spread or contain like normal flames | |
| and instead are controlled by the user). Kinei possesses death | |
| and grim based burning darkness as his primary elementals, and | |
| can use them quite effectively. However, he is still working on | |
| his purifying burning darkness, and still learning to master it. | |
| - Nightfire Darkness Elemental: Purifying/Grim/Death Dark | |
| Lightning: This is another Nightfire elemental power. This is a | |
| power that changes the form of darkness, and changes darkness | |
| energy into a static-like state. By changing the state of the | |
| darkness, the darkness becomes like electricity, and can be used | |
| similarly by those that learn this power. When using this, this | |
| requires a heavy mastery of changing energy states and is | |
| usually among the more difficult shadow elementals to learn. | |
| This ability is used like normal lightning skills, being able to | |
| do things like firing blasts of lightning, creating piercing | |
| lightning attacks, and electrocuting people with electrical | |
| energy. This works similarly to spirit lightning's power, except | |
| that it uses darkness instead of spirit energy. Another major | |
| aspect of this lightning is that it uses darkness as a | |
| conductor, which means that shadows can be used to amplify this | |
| dark lightning when used properly. When combined with things | |
| like deathly darkness or purifying darkness, this can be very | |
| useful against certain enemies, such as purifying dark lightning | |
| could be used to do damage against dark spirits as the dark | |
| lightning would run through a dark spirit's body like a current, | |
| and with purifying darkness could destroy a dark spirit with | |
| much less effort. Against lost souls, deathly darkness based | |
| dark lightning can also do more damage to weaken a lost soul. | |
| Depending on the darkness and the way it's used, this can be a | |
| very useful technique, and is extremely dangerous if used | |
| properly. This does require perfect energy control or else one | |
| could find themselves damaged by this energy's current, as the | |
| Nightfires are also darkness in nature (meaning their souls can | |
| be used as conductors for dark lightning). If this energy is not | |
| precisely controlled, it can be turned back on its user, so it | |
| is a bit of a double edged sword if the user is not skilled | |
| enough to control this power. This can be countered like other | |
| forms of electricity, though light attacks are usually the best | |
| way to counter this power much like many of the Nightfire | |
| elementals. Kinei's main elementals are grim and death dark | |
| lightning, where they are his more experienced elementals. While | |
| Kinei also has purifying dark lightning, he has not fully | |
| mastered it, though he can use it to electrocute corrupted | |
| beings and purify them (though how strong the purification is | |
| can vary depending on the level of the opponent where stronger | |
| opponents take more energy to purify). | |
| Nightfire Arts: | |
| - Nightfire Art: Deathly Burning Darkness Aura Generation: When | |
| a Nightfire learns their shadow elementals, the first thing they | |
| are taught is how to let out a main shadow element to their | |
| aura. Instead of a normal spiritual aura like spirit users might | |
| have, Nightfires focus their darkness into their auras and learn | |
| to passively create their shadow elementals rather than just | |
| letting out normal darkness energy. The darkness aura becomes | |
| the basis of the main Nightfire training after they master their | |
| shadow elementals, and this aura becomes a power source as this | |
| darkness aura becomes a passive ability. Typically, this does | |
| things like powering the Nightfire's shadow elemental | |
| regeneration, or can generate elemental techniques. In addition, | |
| this also uses certain other abilities like elemental | |
| absorption, and other elemental abilities. This aura is powered | |
| by one elemental combination the Darkfire uses, with many | |
| choosing their dominant element as their aura due to the aura | |
| being stronger depending on the element chosen. This aura uses | |
| whatever element is chosen, and generates that power much more | |
| naturally than normal. While the Nightfire doesn't limit their | |
| shadow elemental options by choosing one element over another, | |
| this does often give them a dominant element that they can | |
| utilize more easily, and much easier to use techniques as well | |
| as sometimes allowing special aura attacks using whatever | |
| elemental they choose for their aura. If users match this to | |
| certain other abilities, their aura can enhance their Nightfire | |
| abilities in different ways, like if a Nightfire uses a | |
| purifying darkness shadow elemental, they may release purifying | |
| darkness around an area and creating a purifying aura around | |
| them. Typically, this is just like any other aura, and mostly a | |
| power source for the Nightfire shadow elementals, aside from a | |
| few things the darkness aura can do. Users can have more than | |
| one shadow element in their aura (as some do have a two-layered | |
| aura), but doing so weakens the individual shadow elements as a | |
| result. Once an element is chosen, the elemental aura cannot be | |
| changed, and can only be changed with special training that | |
| takes a long time (meaning this cannot be changed in a battle | |
| and can only be changed outside of battle through retraining of | |
| the darkness aura control and manipulation). Also, light | |
| abilities are usually able to interrupt the auras, and their | |
| abilities. Kinei uses his deathly burning darkness, which was | |
| his primary element. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Nightfire Aura Darkness Absorption: Part of a | |
| Nightfire's darkness power is not just generating shadow | |
| elemental power, but absorbing darkness power as well. Because | |
| the Nightfires specifically use darkness for all of their | |
| elementals (since they are all shadow elementals), the | |
| Nightfires only focus on absorbing one power: Darkness. Once | |
| absorbed, darkness is used to replenish the Nightfire's power, | |
| and empower their shadow elemental abilities. Unlike the | |
| Darkfires who have to absorb specific elementals, the Nightfires | |
| instead focus on absorbing darkness in almost any form and | |
| absorbing other forms of darkness. For example, since most | |
| Nightfires use some version of burning darkness, all Nightfires | |
| are able to absorb other darkness attacks and convert them into | |
| their own darkness powers that can be used, or can be used to | |
| replenish the Nightfire's power. This process allows a Nightfire | |
| a way to replenish and strengthen their auras, usually allowing | |
| them to extend their power, or give them a way to absorb new | |
| power when they run low. This power is a fairly basic ability, | |
| where Nightfires absorb darkness. While the Nightfires cannot | |
| absorb normal elementals like the Darkfires, they can absorb | |
| darkness, and when fighting in darker areas, they gain more | |
| power, especially if they're fighting in places like the shadow | |
| realm. It is also worth noting that absorbing darkness requires | |
| the Nightfire to either absorb darkness not under anyone's | |
| control, or they must overpower a darkness power and absorb it. | |
| Typically, the biggest danger this power has is corrupted | |
| darkness or light energy, which can hurt the Nightfire to absorb | |
| if they try. Certain other forms of darkness can also do damage | |
| to a Nightfire if they try to absorb them, such as no known | |
| Nightfire is able to absorb the Whispering Darkness of the Deep | |
| Shadow Realm. The other danger is overloading the aura with | |
| power, which some Nightfires have to be careful of if there is a | |
| lot of darkness in an area (in which the Nightfires absorption | |
| of darkness can be overwhelmed just like any other kind of | |
| energy absorbtion). There is also a limit to how much darkness a | |
| Nightfire can absorb, in which they can only reach a certain | |
| point of being more powerful past their normal full power. | |
| Anything after that may prove too much for the Nightfire. Also, | |
| light attacks will completely stop a Nightfire's darkness | |
| absorption for a time as long as they are affected by the light | |
| due to their shadowy nature. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Deathly Burning Darkness Aura Defense: This is | |
| an effect of the Nightfire darkness aura training that was | |
| designed alongside the aura's darkness absorption power. This | |
| darkness aura then becomes the basis of defense, in which they | |
| use their darkness aura to up their ability to block attacks and | |
| can dampen blows they take from attacks. This darkness aura can | |
| also be used to power the Nightfire's regeneration, in which | |
| they can regenerate faster when the aura is at it's strongest. | |
| There are two modes of this power, the first is the standard | |
| aura in which the element of the aura isn't visible but still | |
| present in power around the Nightfire, in which they don't have | |
| the full aura active, but this always grants a slight defense | |
| boost. However, in battle, this can be activated to full power, | |
| where the aura becomes visible and charged, and amps defense and | |
| regeneration to it's max power. When used, this aura can even | |
| grant the user special abilities depending on the shadow | |
| elemental, such as Black Rock users being able to use earth to | |
| create elemental armors around themselves or dark lightning | |
| users being able to push away magnetic objects away from their | |
| aura depending on the advanced level of the Nightfire. However, | |
| counter elements can more easily break this defense as well as | |
| light manipulation, and aura breaker abilities and weapons can | |
| instantly break through this defense. This also requires | |
| darkness power to use, and the more energy being put out, the | |
| more quickly a Nightfire uses up their darkness power, meaning | |
| that using this, at full, power is not useful using all the | |
| time. Most only use it to block or dampen attacks rather than | |
| keeping it active all the time in order to conserve their energy | |
| as keeping this active, it can burn through the Nightfire's | |
| energy. For the most part, the key to overpowering any aura is | |
| to use energy stronger than the aura, or some opponents may be | |
| able to overcome aura defense with raw power if they are | |
| powerful enough. Unlike the Darkfires, the Nightfires use some | |
| form of shadow elemental, so depending on the shadow elemental, | |
| can determine what works best at breaking through it (IE burning | |
| darkness would be better countered with ice). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Deathly Burning Darkness Shadow Elemental | |
| Rebirth: This is the main purpose of the shadow elementals used | |
| by the Nightfire family that they developed their powers for. | |
| The Nightfire family specializes specifically in shadow | |
| elemental regeneration, using a specific shadow elemental as a | |
| catalyst. After choosing a shadow elemental to power their | |
| regeneration, their regeneration is passively empowered by their | |
| shadow elemental regeneration. Once used, Nightfires are able to | |
| regenerate almost any injury a death wraith can regenerate from | |
| using shadow regeneration. Unlike the Darkfires who have to | |
| train this up, the Nightfires are able to use this skill much | |
| more naturally thanks to their shadow regeneration. Like most | |
| death wraiths, the Nightfires can regenerate using darkness, but | |
| they specialize in using special passive shadow regeneration | |
| using whatever shadow elemental they possess. And when using | |
| this, the Nightfires are also able to use their darkness | |
| absorption aura to replenish their power for regeneration than | |
| the Darkfires normally could due to the Nightfires being able to | |
| absorb darkness using their natural connection to the shadows. | |
| In this method, a Nightfire is able to more easily regenerate, | |
| and many Nightfires are able to do things like regenerating | |
| limbs and organs passively if damaged as long as they have | |
| shadow energy to generate their shadow elemental. Thanks to | |
| darkness being almost everywhere, most Nightfires rarely run out | |
| of shadow regeneration power, unless intense light is used on | |
| them. This regeneration is a passive ability, and takes effect | |
| whenever the Nightfire is injured. However, like any | |
| regeneration, there are ways to counter this regeneration, such | |
| as regeneration negation skills or items (such as varanium). | |
| Another way to counter a Nightfire's regeneration specifically | |
| (No matter the element) is using intense light attacks, which | |
| can interrupt a Nightfire's regeneration ability completely, | |
| with things like flashbangs being able to negate a Nightfire's | |
| regeneration. However, the regeneration can also be halted by | |
| blessed sea salt or iron, which will temporarily stop an | |
| Nightfire in their tracks (being two of the death wraith's main | |
| weaknesses). Other than that, the only way to stop the | |
| regeneration is to strike a killing blow on the death wraith | |
| that would kill them, as the Nightfires can still be killed like | |
| any other death wraith. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Deathly Burning Darkness Shadow Elemental | |
| Teleportation: Another technique the Nightfires use using their | |
| shadow elementals, this time using shadow elementals to more | |
| easily get around. Similar to how other death wraiths can shadow | |
| meld and use it to travel places, the Nightfires can use their | |
| shadow elementals to teleport, using their shadow elementals as | |
| a catalyst to move from place to place rather than needing to | |
| meld into a shadow like most death wraiths. A Nightfire can | |
| teleport anywhere in the living world or in the Shadow Realm | |
| with this technique, as long as they know where they're going | |
| and can concentrate on where they want to go (though whether or | |
| not they should go to a certain place is usually not certain). | |
| Typically, this utilizes a combination of factors, but the | |
| simple aspect of it is that the Nightfires use this power and | |
| then the shadow elemental power connects to another location and | |
| takes them there. No matter the shadow elemental, this is always | |
| connected to the shadows, since the Nightfires always use | |
| darkness shadow elementals (thus they only require a shadow to | |
| connect to). Some more advanced Nightfires more easily learn to | |
| utilize this by taking shadow elemental form once they learn the | |
| power, using the shadow elemental power to more easily change | |
| locations. The better part of this teleportation though is that | |
| the Nightfires, unlike the Darkfires, use little to no energy to | |
| use this as they are almost always near shadows (unless they are | |
| in a flashbang attack). However, in order to use this, | |
| Nightfires do have to know where they're going, which usually | |
| means that either they must know where in space and time the | |
| place is they want to go to, or they have to have been there | |
| before (usually the latter among most), and Nightfires cannot | |
| use this to travel across time or dimensions (except between the | |
| Shadow Realm and the living world), because this teleportation | |
| isn't strong enough to break the dimension of space and time. As | |
| such, most Nightfires have to be careful while using this, as if | |
| they don't know where they're going, they could end up somewhere | |
| random, or they could end up inside of solid objects if they end | |
| up in certain random locations which causes other problems. And | |
| once chosen, Nightfires cannot change what shadow elemental | |
| power they use for their teleportation without special training | |
| to change their element. Though most of the time, the element | |
| chosen is more for show than anything since all Nightfires use | |
| darkness in some form. The only way to stop this teleport is to | |
| use a flashbang, which can stop the Nightfire from using this | |
| skill completely while the flashbang is active. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Familiars: This is another | |
| advanced technique of the Nightfires, in which they are able to | |
| use any of their shadow elements to create shadow elemental | |
| familiars to help them in battle using the their darkness | |
| manipulation abilities alongside special training to create | |
| familiars. When used, they use their shadow elementals and a | |
| portion of their darkness type spirit energy to connect | |
| themselves to the familiar, letting the two share senses which | |
| makes the shadow elementals very useful for things like spying | |
| on people or scouting out an area. When used in battle, these | |
| familiars can be used to fight opponents, in which, depending on | |
| the element, can use special abilities on opponents, such as | |
| burning darkness familiars being able to burn opponents or shoot | |
| darkness type fireballs, or shadow ice familiars being able to | |
| freeze opponents and fire shadow ice attacks. And depending on | |
| the darkness used, the Nightfire can also grant special effects | |
| to their familiars, such as purifying darkness shadow elementals | |
| could purify spirits and corruption. Each elemental familiar is | |
| made up purely of a shadow elemental, and can take whatever form | |
| the Nightfire wants. This means that each shadow elemental | |
| familiar technique could be different, depending on what the | |
| type of familiar the Nightfire wants to make. Depending on the | |
| familiar, the familiars can also have attributes from what | |
| they're made as, such as bird familiars being able to fly, and | |
| wolf-like or tiger-like familiars having claws, or snakes that | |
| specialize in using their elemental touch (Such as | |
| electrocution, burning or freezing depending on the familiar) to | |
| damage opponents through constriction or injecting their | |
| elemental energy into someone through a snake bite. Of course, | |
| as one might expect, the counters to the shadow elements remains | |
| the same, such as light being able to counter almost any | |
| elemental, and some counter elements still work against the | |
| Nightfire shadow elementals. And the more familiars made or the | |
| larger the familiar is, the less power that each familiar has, | |
| as having multiple familiars or a larger familiar reduces the | |
| power since having more or larger familiars means more energy | |
| has to be put out to maintain the familiars. This means that | |
| using more familiars or using larger familiars also requires | |
| more energy to manifest them, though some Nightfires can | |
| supplement this by absorbing more shadows to reduce the cost of | |
| power to use their familiars. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Semblance: This was designed to be able to | |
| awaken semblances through elemental power similar to unique | |
| semblances aura users develop. Just like spirit power, users can | |
| awaken one specific ability through their spirit power, just | |
| like aura users can. The Nightfires attempt to awaken semblances | |
| similar to that of the Darkfires, though they instead use their | |
| spiritual training to attempt to awaken their semblances. | |
| Because every semblance is usually unique (even though some are | |
| passed down in families and end up changing based on the | |
| individual), there are as many semblances as there are grains of | |
| sand on a beach, so it's difficult to talk about each one. Most | |
| are able to gain things like special elemental techniques, or | |
| some gain new elemental combinations, or some gain unique | |
| abilities altogether. While the Nightfires try to hope that | |
| semblances will be related to their shadow elementals, they | |
| really have no way of knowing what their semblance is until they | |
| unlock it. On top of that, the requirements to unlock them are | |
| different for each Nightfire, so the same methods cannot be used | |
| for every Nightfire. There are a wide variety of these | |
| semblances and how to use them, so each Nightfire is often | |
| different, and this makes each semblance unique to teh Nightfire | |
| in both the nature of the semblance and how to unlock it. Some | |
| known semblances could be things like elemental portals that can | |
| be used instead of teleportations, or some who can use | |
| elementals to do things like using their shadow elementals to | |
| heal/amplify others, or some who can gain certain aspects to a | |
| shadow elemental that make it unique. Among some shadow | |
| elemental semblance examples include an amped shadow elemental, | |
| a new shadow elemental combination, transformation skills using | |
| shadow elements, or shadow elements with unique abilities. | |
| However, sometimes the power may have nothing to do with shadow | |
| elementals, and may result in a new power completely. It is | |
| usually hard to predict what power one will have, though some | |
| semblances do seem to be passed down in families. No one is | |
| entirely sure how these powers come about, and depending on the | |
| Nightfire, some may not generate their semblances except under | |
| specific circumstances. The problem is that some go their whole | |
| lives without unlocking a semblance, as they may not find the | |
| right requirement to unlock them, while some unlock them easily. | |
| Each semblance has unique qualities, which includes both | |
| strengths and weaknesses (each semblance has weaknesses that | |
| must be stated by the player to balance the ability). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Form: This power is used by | |
| advanced Nightfires who learn the shadow skill to turn | |
| themselves into shadows, and modified to use the Nightfire arts. | |
| Similar to how some vampires use intangibility, the Nightfires | |
| use their shadow elemental form similarly, which lets them avoid | |
| attacks when in shadow form (as long as it's not something like | |
| a concetrated light attack). Not only does it help avoid | |
| attacks, but also helps them regenerate without needing to use | |
| their power if they can consciously turn into elemental form as | |
| a substitute (though the effectiveness may depend on the power | |
| used). This form lets the Nightfire change into any shadow | |
| elemental they are able to use, such as most of them being able | |
| to turn into some form of burning darkness, as it's a major | |
| elemental among most Nightfires. When in this form, a Nightfire | |
| can also regenerate by reforming themselves using shadows, but | |
| this doesn't use any less power than normal regeneration, so the | |
| only real benefit to using this is to use this to avoid attacks | |
| while regenerating or using it to shadow regenerate more easily. | |
| While they can't attack in this form, Nightfires can use the | |
| effects of whatever shadow elemental form they're in on others | |
| who try to attack them, such as a burning darkness user burning | |
| people who come into contact with the burning darkness form or a | |
| purifying shadow elemental being able to purify a spirit or | |
| corruption as the shadow elemental form phases through a spirit | |
| or corrupted power. As one might imagine, the biggest thing that | |
| counters this power is intense light, where intense light can | |
| force Nightfires back into normal form and do damage to them in | |
| the process (with some things like flashbangs having the | |
| potential to outright obliterate shadow elemental forms | |
| completely killing the Nightfire if they aren't careful. Another | |
| method is counter elements (usually depending on the shadow | |
| elemental). Opponents who also use form negation attack powers | |
| can also counter this power through abilities like haki form | |
| negation, and other skills that developed ways to counter this, | |
| as well as aura breaker weapons also working to the same effect. | |
| While in this form though, a Nightfire cannot attack opponents, | |
| as they aren't physical enough to attack beyond simple effects | |
| of their shadow elementals (like burning darkness burning | |
| enemies). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Shapeshift: This was a power | |
| that was passed to the Nightfires through their Darkfire | |
| heritage, combined with the shadow skill Darkness Form that | |
| allows one to take the form of darkness. This modified art | |
| allows the Nightfire to use their shadow elemental form to | |
| transform, turning into something akin to a shadow elemental | |
| familiar, but the Nightfire takes the shadow form instead. | |
| Depending on how it's used, there are a variety of forms that | |
| one can turn into. Many Nightfires can use this as a means to do | |
| things like travel using bird form, or can use it to scout out | |
| areas as a small animal, or even use battle forms using | |
| predatory animal forms. Whatever they turn into is up to the | |
| original Nightfire, as the possibilities are pretty much endless | |
| as long as they can picture what it is they want to turn into. | |
| This is very similar to the shadow elemental form, but instead | |
| focuses the Nightfire to take a specific form instead of just | |
| being a general mass of shadow elemental energy. Depending on | |
| what they transform into, they may even gain certain attributes, | |
| with some even being able to change into certain supernatural | |
| creatures depending on their power and shadow elemental, such as | |
| some Nightfires who take the form of supernatural creatures and | |
| try to replicate certain abilities. Some choose birdlike or | |
| flight capable forms so they can fly around, being useful for | |
| scouting and flying around, while some prefer battle forms, like | |
| wolves, tigers, and bears. Typically, this is more of an | |
| advanced shadow elemental form, and the means to learn their | |
| unique elemental form (more later). When in these forms, the | |
| Nightfire doesn't gain new abilities (aside from certain | |
| beast-like attributes depending on the form), and they cannot | |
| create new abilities usually (like a dragon form won't suddenly | |
| have dragon energy, even if they can use something akin to a | |
| shadow elemental breath). Though it does have the same drawbacks | |
| as the elemental form, as one who uses form negation, aura | |
| breaker weapons/powers, and counter elements (Specifically light | |
| for the Nightfires) can still force them back to normal. It's | |
| also worth noting that the longer a Nightfire stays in this | |
| form, the more power they use, and have to keep their power | |
| sustained to stay in this form (though they can do so by | |
| absorbing shadows if they start to run low on power. More on | |
| that later). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Unique Shadow Elemental Form Shapeshift: Thanks | |
| to the original Darkfire elemental unique form technique, the | |
| Nightfires modified this technique to essentially create a | |
| shadow elemental form that has unique abilities and acts as | |
| their main transformation ability. This form granted is unique | |
| to each Nightfire, and depending on the form, most Nightfires | |
| gain enhanced abilities through their unique form. For example, | |
| if one gained the form of a bird, they would not only be able to | |
| fly, but would gain enhanced sight and hearing comparable to | |
| that of birds. Some can gain other powers, like the enhanced | |
| strength of a bear, or the speed of a cheetah when in their | |
| unique forms. They can also gain abilities and traits similar to | |
| the creature they take the form of, such as someone who takes a | |
| shadow wolf form may learn to communicate with other wolves, and | |
| gain wolf-like traits in how they act when in the form (such as | |
| being protective of those close to them, as wolves are | |
| protective creatures). After gaining this form, the Nightfire is | |
| able to manipulate the form, where they can change how solid or | |
| intangible they are, or can change certain aspects of their | |
| physiology depending on how they manipulate their shadow | |
| elemental. For example, a burning darkness form could become | |
| more solidified so that the burning darkness that don't hurt | |
| people to touch, or they could stay a burning darkness that can | |
| burn people who touch them in battle or that the Nightfire can | |
| use to phase through solid objects. They can also still | |
| manipulate their elementals in battle, such as a burning | |
| darkness form could still use burning darkness attacks on | |
| opponents. Each unique elemental form is different, and the | |
| Ngihtfire is able to switch into this form at will, and maintain | |
| it more easily than any other shadow elemental form they take. | |
| Most shadow elemental forms are typically much easier to use | |
| than their normal body, which is why some Nightfires may choose | |
| their elemental form rather than a typical human form, though | |
| there are many that don't use this unless they have to depending | |
| on who they are. Typically, how the form is used is up to the | |
| Nightfire, with each Nightfire being able to use it for | |
| different uses. For example, a birdlike form might be more | |
| useful for scouting and spying, while a bear form might be more | |
| useful for battle However, in this form, while they reform more | |
| easily thanks to being in elemental form, they also can be | |
| damaged more easily by counters to the element (With light being | |
| the biggest counter to almost any shadow elemental form), and | |
| this can even kill them in this form if their elemental bodies | |
| are completely destroyed (which usually means that they need to | |
| return to normal before they are destroyed if they are in danger | |
| of their shadow elemental bodies being destroyed). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Form Shadow Sustenance: Each | |
| elemental form, depending on the shadow elemental and on the | |
| Nightfire, is often able to sustain themselves on things | |
| differently than they do as a normal human. Unlike the | |
| Darkfires, most Nightfires use the same method for maintaining | |
| their shadow elemental forms, whether it's their unique form or | |
| another form they take. For the most part, Nightfires who opt to | |
| stay in their unique forms often simply have to keep their power | |
| up in order to remain in their unique form, which can involve | |
| doing normal things like eating and sleeping, although the most | |
| common thing they have to do is absorb shadows. Usually, | |
| Nightfires don't have to do anything too complex in order to | |
| maintain these forms unless they use their power through battle | |
| and run low on power, as using their power in battle could use | |
| the power they need to stay in their shadow elemental form (And | |
| thus revert them back to normal). While Nightfires can still | |
| recharge on their own shadow elemental powers using shadows, | |
| some can also recharge more energy by other methods, such a | |
| shadow ice user may be able to maintain their form more easily | |
| by staying in colder climates. Each form is different depending | |
| on the shadow elemental (and unique elemental forms being unique | |
| for each Nightfire), and some can even do things like eating | |
| normal food to survive, assuming they can gain sustenance or use | |
| it in restoring their power in some way. However, unlike the | |
| Darkfires who use normal elementals in some way, the Nightfires | |
| always use shadows, so this power is much more universal for | |
| them compared to the Darkfire's methods of maintaining elemental | |
| forms. This means that the Nightfires are easier to understand | |
| when using this. This is something enemies can take advantage | |
| of, such as using intense light using things like flashbangs to | |
| prevent a user from absorbing more shadows, and if a Nightfire | |
| doesn't absorb shadows or eat/sleep as they would in their | |
| normal state, then they will be forced back to their normal | |
| form. Also, as they lose more shadow energy, it will be harder | |
| and harder to hold their form together, and this could also | |
| resort to them needing to change back to normal if they run low | |
| enough on power. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Amplification: The Nightfires | |
| are able to use their shadow elementals to power themselves up, | |
| being able to use shadows to passively enhance their ability by | |
| absorbing a specific element into themselves using their auras | |
| to amplify their physical abilities and shadow elemental | |
| abilities. This ability was designed as the Nightfire's version | |
| of a Darkfire absorbing elementals, but instead of using | |
| Darkfire elementals, Nightfires absorb different types of | |
| darkness and shadows instead of normal elementals. And like the | |
| Darkfires absorbing their elementals, Nightfires can absorb | |
| shadows outside of their body that aren't theirs, being able to | |
| absorb shadow energy attacks if it's made of an shadow power | |
| they control. This includes being able to absorb special shadow | |
| elementals, such as other death wraith shadow types or other | |
| versions of shadows. Depending on the shadows absorbed, the | |
| Nightfire can gain temporary abilities based on the element | |
| absorbed and what properties it has, usually gaining abilities | |
| depending on the other power used in combination with their | |
| elemental. For example, a Nightfire absorbing purifying darkness | |
| could gain enhanced purification power in their shadow | |
| elementals, or someone absorbing shadow ice may gain a freezing | |
| presence. However, this is only temporary, as this requires the | |
| element in order to power up, which means that a darkness power | |
| has to be absorbed in order to trigger this power. This also | |
| cannot be used with corrupted darkness or similar corrupted | |
| powers, as others who use corrupted elementals designed them to | |
| counter powers like this. The Nightfire can also only absorb | |
| shadows using this method, and they cannot absorb normal | |
| elementals (such as a burning darkness user couldn't use this to | |
| absorb fire and turn it into darkness). Another thing is that | |
| the Nightfires cannot absorb Whispering Darkness of Xeles's | |
| realm, due to it being a powerful darkness that overwhelms even | |
| darkness users (and is something that Nightfires are usually | |
| warned about first when learning to absorb shadows). This means | |
| that dark spirit power is something Nightfires cannot absorb, | |
| and if they try, it will either be corruptive or could drive | |
| them insane depending on the power they absorb. Also, no matter | |
| what kind of shadow they absorb, the Nightfires still remain | |
| vulnerable to intense light no matter the darkness type power | |
| they hold, and can this can be countered by using light to | |
| counter the shadows. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Healing and Purification: This power | |
| utilizes the Nightfire's shadow elemental power in a different | |
| way, in which their shadow elemental powers are designed to heal | |
| others by using their elemental power. How this is used depends | |
| on the Nightfire's shadow elemental power, and, while not all | |
| Nightfires can heal effectively, most can heal in some way. | |
| Typically, healing someone using a Nightfire power utilizes the | |
| shadows in unique ways, and learn to utilize this to replicate | |
| the effects of healing and purification abilities. This power | |
| utilizes shadow elementals in unique ways, which are meant for | |
| using their power to heal rather than attack. For example, a | |
| burning darkness user might use their burning darkness to use | |
| heat to sear a wound closed, or using dark lightning to re-bond | |
| cells together using magnetic bonds to draw the cells back | |
| together. This depends on the element, and each element can do | |
| this in some way, with black rock and windfull dusk usually | |
| being the best healing elementals since earth and wind usually | |
| have the best ways of healing. Typically, this power is used to | |
| replicate healing and purification of other races abilities, | |
| even if it's not always as effective. This can be used with any | |
| elemental, though most elementals achieve the same end result | |
| somehow (with some being better used than others). The second | |
| part of this power is purification, where Nightfires can purify | |
| certain types of presences by using their shadow elemental | |
| power. Depending on the Nightfire's shadow elemental, some | |
| shadow elementals are more useful than others and many will work | |
| better for different situations. For example, a purifying | |
| darkness user could purify corruptive energy from a person's | |
| injuries, or someone with deathly darkness could purify a being | |
| of death of a life energy corruption. For purifying presences, | |
| usually dark lightning and burning darkness are the two best | |
| ones to use, since they can destroy targeted cells and energies | |
| more effectively than most other elementals. And as mentioned, | |
| the shadow power used in the shadow elemental makes a difference | |
| in purification as well. This mostly depends on the user and | |
| their knowledge, and not all Nightfire shadow elementals are | |
| great at this (as one might be better for one aspect of this | |
| power over another). Typically, this power is hard to master, | |
| but many Nightfires can use this very effectively if they know | |
| what they're doing. However, it has the same drawbacks as any | |
| other healing and purification, such as some injuries may not | |
| heal correctly if the healing is not done properly, or | |
| purification can only be done if the user knows what they are | |
| purifying and how to purify the specific type of thing they are | |
| trying to purify. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Touch: This ability is | |
| dependent on the shadow elementals used by the Nightfires. This | |
| lets a Nightfire use their touch to use their shadow elemental | |
| power on someone, by focusing their power through their aura | |
| when then are in physical contact. This is more useful with some | |
| elements than others, and depending on the element used, some | |
| elements can do different things. Burning darkness users are | |
| able to burn and melt things through physical touch by heating | |
| things up, shadow ice users are able to freeze things on | |
| physical touch by using their ice powers to freeze, dark | |
| lightning users are able to electrocute things using physical | |
| touch, and windful dusk users are able to slice through things | |
| with their attacks. And depending on the type of shadows being | |
| used in the shadow elemental, some may even have other unique | |
| aspects, such as purifying darkness being used in a shadow | |
| elemental may result in a user being able to purify corruptive | |
| energies through physical touch, or someone with deathly | |
| darkness might be able to destroy life energy with their deathly | |
| darkness through touch. Some who use this are able to do | |
| different things depending on the shadow element, with more | |
| advanced users having more techniques using this power depending | |
| on their knowledge and mastery of their shadow elementals. Some | |
| have even built combat styles around this power, using it to | |
| amplify their physical combat (such as Nightfire Kenpo having | |
| some substyles based around shadow elemental styles). Of course, | |
| the Nightfire can only use the touch powers of their own shadow | |
| elements, and depending on how skilled they are, certain | |
| Nightfires may be able to do more with their elemental touch | |
| ability. However, this does require physical touch to use, and | |
| some users can only use this on certain things (like black rock | |
| users may not be able to affect normal earth with their touch | |
| the way earth users can, but they can affect darkness energies). | |
| Typically, energy defense or counter elements are the best ways | |
| to counter this, with light again being the best method to | |
| counter the Nightfire's shadow powers. Also, it is worth noting | |
| that the Nightfire shadow touch is a bit more restrictive than | |
| normal Darkfire elementals. Because the Nightfires use shadows | |
| instead of elements, they are a bit limited in how they can | |
| affect based on their shadow elementals (IE a black rock user | |
| cannot absorb earthly materials with their touch). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Nightfire Shadow Elemental Blade: By focusing | |
| the shadow elemental aura, the Nightfire can create a shadow | |
| elemental blade around their arm, usually extending from their | |
| hand into a blade. Typically, this is an attack skill designed | |
| to fight opponents. Just like many of the shadow elemental | |
| abilities, Nighfires typically have to learn how their shadow | |
| elementals can be used, as each shadow elemental power for this | |
| is different. For example, a burning darkness blade could burn | |
| through certain objects when cutting objects, or a windful dusk | |
| blade could be made to more easily cut through objects and fire | |
| slashing waves. This depends on the Nightfire and their shadow | |
| elemental powers, but most are able to do this with any shadow | |
| elemental power they control. Typically, the easiest blade to | |
| create is the same as their aura, as doing so using their aura's | |
| shadow elemental power is usually easier than other shadow | |
| elements due to it requiring far less power to use, and it being | |
| easier to concentrate from an aura. Beginners can use this | |
| fairly easily once focusing it, but advanced users can learn to | |
| fire shadow elemental blasts and waves from this blade, or the | |
| blade having different effects based on what the user wants to | |
| do. For example, a purifying darkness user could use purifying | |
| darkness shadow elementals to more easily cut through dark | |
| spirits, or a burning darkness user could use their burning | |
| darkness to mroe easily cut through objects. This depends mostly | |
| on the shadow elemental and the Nightfire's shadow elemental | |
| knowledge, though most Nightifres typically use this more with a | |
| weapon, with some even having weapons specially made for | |
| utilizing this technique. This is countered just like any of the | |
| Nightfire shadow elemental powers though, and with counter | |
| elements and light being the best counters to the shadow | |
| elementals. Some physical defense skills might also defend | |
| against certain uses of this, though usually energy defense is | |
| another good defense against this power since energy defense can | |
| block elemental and shadow abilities. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Spear: This is a basic shadow | |
| elemental techniques the Nightfires use, that can be used with | |
| any of their shadow elementals. In this technique, the Nightifre | |
| concentrates their shadow elemental power from their aura into a | |
| small spear like form, and then fires it at opponents. While it | |
| may seem simple, there are plenty of ways to utilize this | |
| ability. For example, this technique is very adaptable, and can | |
| be modified for a variety of purposes. For example, the | |
| Nightfire could change the spear form into another form like a | |
| sword, knife or trident if the Nightfire wants to stylize the | |
| attack differently. Another example is that this technique can | |
| be fired from a Nightfire's shadow elemental aura directly, | |
| where the aura can be used to fire this for faster attacks when | |
| the aura is in an active state. This technique can also be fired | |
| in a few different variations. The normal form of this technique | |
| is where the user will fire one shadow elemental spear. However, | |
| there are two other major variations that the Nightfires have | |
| come up with over the years (with some coming up with other | |
| variations). The first variation is that Nightfires can use more | |
| energy and create a barrage of these spears, essentially | |
| creating a flurry of shadow elemental spears, whether they are | |
| concentrated on one person, or fired from the aura in multiple | |
| directions to take out a group. The other variation is a charged | |
| spear, where the Nightfire can charge the spear using elemental | |
| energy to make it stronger to either grant it a stronger impact, | |
| or increase its piercing power. And depending on the shadow | |
| elemental used, the spear will have specific properties, such as | |
| a burning darkness spear can melt through almost anything, or | |
| purifying darkness type spear could easily pierce a dark spirit | |
| or hollow. Depending on how it's used, there's a variety of | |
| variations to this technique depending on the element, and how | |
| creative the Nightfire is with this technique. As one might | |
| imagine, countering this can be done with counter elements | |
| (again with light being the best counter to almost any shadow | |
| elemental), or other energy defenses depending on the attack. | |
| Depending on the attack, some may be better to dodge than block, | |
| or vice versa ( For example, piercing attacks should be dodged | |
| rather than blocked). | |
| - Ultimate Nightfire Art: Nightfire Blade: This is the ultimate | |
| technique of the Nightfires utilizing immense shadow elemental | |
| power. Once a Nightfire is able to condense their shadow | |
| elemental power, the Nightfires can learn this ultimate | |
| technique. When using this, the Nightfire creates a long | |
| sword-like shadow elemental construct out of shadow elemental | |
| power by combining the elemental blade technique with the | |
| elemental condensing and elemental spear techniques. When | |
| thrown, the Nightfire Blade explodes on impact, creating a | |
| massive explosion of whatever shadow elemental energy is used | |
| for the attack (though it's primary purpose is not to be | |
| thrown). Depending on the elemental power used, the elementals | |
| will have unique effects upon exploding. For example, a burning | |
| darkness lance will explode with enough burning darkness energy | |
| to incinerate almost anything in the explosion, while a | |
| purifying darkness type shadow elemental could be used to purify | |
| a dark spirit or hollow in the explosion of the technique. For | |
| the most part, this is designed to be the most powerful | |
| technique the Nightfires have, in which they learn to utilize | |
| this to create a powerful attack move. Unlike the Darkfires who | |
| almost immediately throw this, the Nightfires instead use it for | |
| close range combat, as a sort of clsoe combat weapon made of | |
| their shadow elemental. This technique is another that can be | |
| modified for the situation, where Nightfires have also been | |
| known to turn the projectile into other forms, like a spear or a | |
| trident. Usually, the Nightfires will fight using this to more | |
| easily cut through and damage opponents by using the sword like | |
| projectile form to more easily allow it to cut through objects | |
| and have effects based on the shadow elemental used. However, | |
| the final part of this attack is usually the Nightfire trying to | |
| spear an opponent with the weapon, and then teleportating away | |
| using shadow teleportation, in which they then explode the | |
| attack. However, because of the sheer power of it, a Nightfire | |
| has to be careful with it, as it takes absolute mastery to use | |
| this technique without hurting oneself with it, as the user can | |
| be hurt with this technique just as opponents (usually by the | |
| condensed power of the attack, not the shadows of the attack). | |
| For example, if the Nightfire is caught in the explosion of the | |
| attack, they can be affected as well, with certain impacts and | |
| effects that can still affect the Nightfire despite it being | |
| their elemental energy (for example, a Nightfire may survive the | |
| burning darkness of the explosion, but the pressure can still | |
| kill them if they are caught in it). As such, Nightfires are | |
| advised against using this if they can't manage to escape after | |
| impaling this onto an opponent. It is also worth noting that | |
| this technique requires a lot of elemental energy to use, so | |
| many Nightfires can only create one or two of these, with only a | |
| few more powerful Nightfires being able to create more. This is | |
| a technique that one should dodge rather than block, because of | |
| the explosive potential of the attack, and one should avoid | |
| being speared by it, so that the Nightfire won't just teleport | |
| away and let the attack explode (though some Nightfires will | |
| throw this at opponents if they need to). | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Sense: When using their | |
| enhanced connection to the shadows, the Nightfires gain a | |
| special shadow sense that allows them to more easily sense | |
| things based on the shadow elementals they control as they learn | |
| to tune their supernatural senses to the shadow elementals. | |
| Thanks to the the Nightfire training, they learn to sense their | |
| shadow elementals, granting the Nightfires unique senses | |
| depending on the elements they control. For example, burning | |
| darkness and shadow ice manipulation will usually grant thermal | |
| vision by analyzing the temperature of everything around them | |
| from the shadows around them. Electrical senses include being | |
| able to sense electricity and even being able to tune into | |
| electrical-based communication or sensing magnetic fields | |
| through the shadows. Windful dusk manipulation will grant the | |
| Nightfire the ability to sense the gases in the air through | |
| shadows, where they can identify any kind of gas in the air | |
| around them thanks to them being able to sense the shadows in | |
| the air around them. Black rock will grant the user an earth | |
| sense, where they can sense anything solid form an object's | |
| shadow, including people by sensing the earthly elements in even | |
| living beings. Night water manipulation can grant one the | |
| ability to sense the moisture in the air through shadows, where | |
| they are able to sense things like humidity or what form | |
| moisture takes by studying the shadows. For the most part, this | |
| is not just about sensing darkness, but can allow a Nightfire | |
| special senses that they can use when sensing the darkness | |
| around them. And since the shadows are connected to almost | |
| everything, including organic life, the Nightfires can sense | |
| this in people as well. While each shadow elemental sense is | |
| different based on the shadow elemental, they all accomplish the | |
| a similar end result, letting the Nightfire sense both the | |
| shadows around them and sense other people around them. This | |
| power isn't about predicting opponents like some battle senses | |
| are, but rather this is about being able to sense the | |
| environment around the Nightfires through the shadows, and allow | |
| them to act accordingly. As such, this isn't really good for | |
| offensive combat, and is mostly only good in battle for sensing | |
| the opponents using elemental senses. However, Nightfires cannot | |
| use this to predict or read opponents, as this is more of a | |
| general elemental sense. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Armor Defense Skill (Defense | |
| Amplification): This technique utilizes a shadow elemental, but | |
| concentrated towards a certain part of the body in order to | |
| defend the body against attacks. By combining the shadow | |
| elemental touch and shadow elemental aura, the Nightfires can | |
| use this technique to improve their defense. For example, a | |
| Nightfire with dark lightning would charge a certain part of | |
| their body with dark lightning to improve defense, such as | |
| coating their arm on condensed dark lightning to block an attack | |
| with their arm. This allows a Nightfire to condense the | |
| elemental from a certain point in their body, in which they use | |
| it to defend against attacks more easily. The shadow elemental | |
| improves defense, and depending on the shadow elemental, some | |
| shadow elementals can have unique effects when the opponent | |
| attacks. For example, a Nightfire using burning darkness could | |
| form this around their body and use it to burn opponents who hit | |
| them, or use a purifying darkness defense to protect themselves | |
| from dark spirit or hollow energy. And when using this, the form | |
| of the technique can be altered depending on the situation and | |
| creativity of the Nightfire, such as a dark lightning user who | |
| used this to influence the magnetic fields around attacks to | |
| repel them on contact. Depending on the shadow elemental used, | |
| the shadow elementals can be used with different skills for | |
| different effects, and depending on the Nightfire, this can turn | |
| a defensive move into an offensive one (such as a Nightfire who | |
| uses the burning darkness defense can make the burning darkness | |
| explode on impact to damage an opponent while they're | |
| attacking). However, while this power is defensive, it can still | |
| be broken by stronger attacks, as users may be able to still | |
| attack and break this if their energy or physical strength can | |
| overpower the defense. There are also certain other techniques | |
| that can counter this, such as energy attacks being able to | |
| pierce through, or users who use aura breaker weapons being able | |
| to cut through this defense. And of course, as with most shadow | |
| elemental powers, intense light can overpower this defense. It | |
| is also worth noting that Nightfires using this cannot hold this | |
| for too long or use this to cover too much of their bodies, as | |
| this technique takes a lot of energy, and cannot be held in | |
| place for too long without draining the Nightfire of power. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Shadow Elemental Armor Offense Skill (Attack | |
| Deflection and Form Negation): This technique was based on | |
| certain other abilities, like swordsman wavelength and similar | |
| abilities that use attack deflection and form negation. This | |
| variation of shadow elemental defense is more about offensive | |
| skill, where the Nightfire will focus their power in order to | |
| attack opponents. This could be as simple as charging their fist | |
| with shadow elemental power to affect enemies when they punch | |
| them, or using an shadow elemental power to deflect an attack. | |
| There are two major aspects to this power. The first is using | |
| this to deflect attacks, where the Nightfire uses a mastery of | |
| energy to change the trajectory of an attack with their own | |
| attack. For example, the Nightfire could parry an attack using | |
| the shadow elemental defense, and use the shadow elemental armor | |
| to redirect the attack by focusing the shadow elemental to move | |
| the attack aside. More advanced users are even able to reflect | |
| projectile attacks back on opponents when using this power, in | |
| which advanced Nightfires are able to use this to great effect | |
| to change an attack's momentum by attacking it directly and | |
| using their shadow elemental power to influence an attack (such | |
| as a magnetic user being able to redirect attacks using magnetic | |
| force). The second part of this is form negation, where powers | |
| like Pai Zhua or Haki have been used in order to strike | |
| opponents using energy that dispels energy. This allows a | |
| Nightfire to attack an opponent no matter the form they are in, | |
| and even works against intangible opponents. This can even be | |
| used to attack incorporeal beings, such as spirits, in order to | |
| allow the Nightfire to strike things that normally wouldn't be | |
| able to be attacked. Since the Nightfires have had to fight lost | |
| souls and dark spirits depending on the jobs they choose, this | |
| was designed originally to attack them when they are melded into | |
| the darkness, or attack certain opponents who can also take | |
| different spiritual forms. However, it is possible for those | |
| with stronger energy defense to block this technique if they | |
| have a similar defense skill like haki, Pai Zhua or certain | |
| types of chi training, as stronger energy defense skills can | |
| block this if the defense is stronger than the offensive skill. | |
| And just like the defensive skill, this techniques effects can | |
| be instantly dispelled by energy dispelling or aura breaker | |
| weapons and powers. This power also requires focus as well as | |
| elemental power, and typically uses more power than normal to | |
| utilize this since this technique requires extra power to | |
| condense and affect attacks. However, for the Nightfires, this | |
| cannot be used to reflect concentrated light beams and other | |
| concentrated light attacks, as the shadow elementals are not | |
| equipped to handle concentrated light. They can be used to | |
| reflect or parry norma light attacks, but concentrated light | |
| will always pierce this technique as the Nightfires cannot | |
| overcome concentrated light with this technique alone. | |
| Nightfire Combat Style: Todesgeister Kenpo: | |
| - Nightfire Combat Style: Todesgeister Kenpo: This is a | |
| variation of the Darkfire variation Kenpo, utilized mostly by | |
| the Nightfire family as they modified the style to combine with | |
| the Todesgeister combat style for their own use. It still has | |
| many of the same substyles (and a few modified substyles for a | |
| death wraith version of this), but has been modified so that the | |
| Nightfires can better focus their death wraith combat abilities | |
| since the original Darkfire Kenpo was made for their own style | |
| combat. This style has a variety of substyles, and even has ways | |
| it can be altered to create other substyles. While many are | |
| similar to Darkfire Kenpo, there are some aspects of this style | |
| that are different from Darkfire Kenpo. For example, the | |
| Nightfire variation utilizes stealth combat and assassination | |
| techniques rather than just simple combat techniques. By | |
| combining the stealth based combat variations of Todesgeister, | |
| the Nightfires Kenpo is more about killing their opponents | |
| efficiently. In terms of physical combat, this style uses the | |
| death wraith stealth step, and can also use Sonido for advanced | |
| footwork, while allowing the Nightfire to utilize their | |
| substyles. By moving with fluidity and using their mobility, the | |
| Nightfires utilize their combat for mobility, speed, agility and | |
| even stealth. Unlike normal combat, this technique is taught to | |
| assassinate over disable like many Darkfires learn, since the | |
| Nightfires learn assassination as part of their combat training. | |
| As such, this style is much more useful for sidestepping | |
| opponents, or sneaking up on opponents. There are many substyles | |
| of this, but overall, the main focus of this style is the | |
| efficient killing of opponents, and many Nightfires can even | |
| learn to utilize certain disabling abilities, such as those that | |
| fight dark spirits will combine this with dark lightning | |
| purifying darkness to amplify the attack. This style can do | |
| similar combat techniques to Darkfire Kenpo, but with the | |
| style's focus on stealth and assassination, this style tends to | |
| be more brutal and deadly than most other combat styles. | |
| However, this style, like any other, may be countered depending | |
| on the opponent, experience and the techniques an opponent might | |
| have. And depending on the user, some may have additional | |
| weaknesses, like combatants that focus on speed and agility may | |
| not be as strong. | |
| - Todesgeister Kenpo Aspect: Elite Stealth Combat: Death wraiths | |
| are specially trained as skilled warriors and as highly trained | |
| assassins. This is applied to the Nightfires as well, where they | |
| use the Darkfire combat abilities they have inherited to create | |
| this unique aspect of Todesgeister Kenpo by utilizing their | |
| death wraith combat training. In this aspect of the style, the | |
| Nightfires combine their inherited Darkfire assasination combat | |
| talents with their death wraith elite combat training, and | |
| create this aspect where they learn specifically about stealth, | |
| tracking evasion, and learning how to efficiently take out their | |
| enemies. When using this style, the Nightfires have taken | |
| certain aspects from other styles like Muay Thai, Krav Maga and | |
| even Escrima. In this aspect, there are many techniques that the | |
| Nightfires learn to take out opponents, no matter what substyles | |
| they use. For example, using this stealth combat, a user might | |
| move into the shadows to get behind an opponent and then snap | |
| their neck using certain style aspects of Krav Maga. Depending | |
| on the substyles used, there are different ways to apply this, | |
| with each substyle having unique ways of applying very deadly | |
| strikes and its own stealth combat. This, like the Todesgeister | |
| main style, is a pretty adaptable style, and Nightfires are able | |
| to modify it to fit their specific fighting style. In this | |
| style, the Nightfires can learn to not only move with fluid | |
| motion and more agile combat, but they also use silent movement | |
| that they can use to more easiliy sneak up on opponents. This | |
| style can even be combined with the Nightfire's shadow | |
| elementals or shadow manipulation in general for specific | |
| skills, such as the substyle where Nightfires use shadow | |
| tendrils to attack enemies can be used with this aspect of the | |
| style, in which users can combine this aspect of combat with | |
| almost any type of combat. This is a pretty basic aspect of the | |
| style, requiring training and experience to master. This aspect | |
| is not meant to be used on its own, but instead is meant to be | |
| combined with other substyles. This style, like any other, can | |
| only go as far as the fighter though, and how effective this | |
| style is depends on how effective a fighter the Nightfire is. | |
| This can be overcome by other combat types, and while this | |
| aspect is great for stealth combat, once the Nightfire is in | |
| combat after being discovered, the stealth portion of this style | |
| loses its efficiency. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Substyle: Baguazhang (Eight Palms) Substyle: | |
| This sub-style is known for it's use of circular movement as | |
| well as it's coiled and uncoiling actions. This style is based | |
| around a more balanced style, using similar techniques to the | |
| Tai Chi style. This style is more about open palm strikes, known | |
| for it's flexibility and body alignment. Users learn a lot of | |
| low stances, staying low to the ground, and striking opponents | |
| vitals through proper striking techniques, throws and precise | |
| footwork. This style is a very balanced style, allowing a user | |
| to build their stats up more evenly than some other styles. This | |
| is a very simple style to learn, as it is pretty simple to train | |
| and learn, but it is still a very skilled style to those that | |
| would take the time to master it in its entirety. While this | |
| technique isn't about overwhelming power or about pure defense | |
| like some styles, users of this style can still keep up with | |
| many other focused styles, as this style has some useful | |
| techniques like how to break one's defense with an open palm | |
| strike or using certain close combat grappling and joint locks | |
| to disable others. By using this style, users have more of a | |
| circular movement around their opponents, and focuses on | |
| patience rather than rushing in. Those that practice this must | |
| have the patience to keep calm and watch their opponents, | |
| waiting for openings or waiting for opponents to make their | |
| moves in order to counter-attack. This style may seem simple, | |
| but it's training allows for more focus and control, and is a | |
| great style for those that want to learn to focus and learn | |
| patience since the style teaches focus and patience to help | |
| focus the mind. This, similar to Tai Chi, is a style that not | |
| only trains the body, but also trains the mind as well by | |
| training reflexes, reactions and even helping improve thought | |
| when in stressful situations. Though simple, this style is not | |
| to be underestimated, as masters of this style are very good at | |
| countering other styles. Though, as one might expect, opponents | |
| can outclass this style with certain more focused styles (like | |
| pure power styles or pure speed styles might outclass this since | |
| this doesn't focus on specific stats). When facing a style, it | |
| is not just the style itself, but mastery, experience and | |
| technique that often determine who will win using certain | |
| styles. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Substyle: Hikaken/Piquaquan (Chop Hanging | |
| Fists) Substyle: This is a substyle of Chinese Kenpo, which goes | |
| by the name Hikaken, or is also known as Piquaquan (chop-hanging | |
| fists). This sub-style focuses on striking power, relying on the | |
| rotations of the arms and it's open palmed techniques to create | |
| stronger striking techniques. This style lets the user use their | |
| arms and legs like whips to build up incredible force in their | |
| attacks, which lets them not only hit harder and faster, but | |
| makes their techniques even harder to dodge. This technique uses | |
| training similar to Baguazhang, except that this style focuses | |
| more on attack than on defense. This sub-style is incredibly | |
| powerful, in which those who master it can even overpower | |
| certain metals such as an advanced user who dented the top of a | |
| bus with this style. This style uses rotation, in which the body | |
| rotates to build momentum and strength, to strike opponents. | |
| This is a dangerous style to opponents, as this style can | |
| usually break the bones of opponents hit with this style and do | |
| severe damage to the body when opponents are struck, due to the | |
| strength of the techniques of this style. Combined with the | |
| enhanced movement, this style can be a great style for keeping | |
| opponents on the defensive, as this style is focused more around | |
| overpowering opponents than on defending them. However, that | |
| doesn't mean that defense takes a backseat in this style, as | |
| this style still uses enhanced movement to move around enemies | |
| using rotational movement (such as the stepping method Kouho | |
| Haiho). This style is best used at medium to long range, and is | |
| capable of producing massive damage against opponents when used | |
| properly. This style is a much more offensive style, focusing | |
| more on offense than on defense, though this still uses movement | |
| to great effect, as this style focuses on not wasting a single | |
| move, as every move in this style has a purpose, whether it's to | |
| dodge an attack, or build momentum. Though those who use this | |
| style often find ways to use dodging to build momentum for | |
| attacks. The only real problem with this style is that those | |
| that use this style recklessly can do just as much damage to | |
| their body as opponents, as some users have been known to | |
| shatter the bones in limbs when doing this if they execute | |
| techniques wrong. And like most styles, there are other styles | |
| that can counter this style, depending on the style, experience | |
| and abilities an opponent might have. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Substyle: Chishoken/Ditangquan (Ground Boxing) | |
| Substyle: This is a very difficult substyle of the Nightfire | |
| Kenpo style, in which the user focuses solely on speed and | |
| acrobatics, usually using speed and fast attacks to try and | |
| overwhelm opponents. In normal Ditangquan, the users would focus | |
| on defense and offense, but this version of the style was | |
| modified by users for those that have a more speedy and | |
| offensive style. Users of this style train in aerial acrobatics, | |
| as well as things like tumbles, falls, turns, somersaults and | |
| other movement options in order to train their movement and | |
| agility in combat. By doing this, users are able to not only | |
| take on opponents with blinding speed, but can also take out | |
| groups of opponents extremely quickly. Combined with the combat | |
| techniques to strike the opponents similar to other styles like | |
| Baguazhang, this style focuses on open palmed strikes, and | |
| strikes the vital points to disable opponents by using speed to | |
| try and strike their vitals enough times to disable them. This | |
| style is often favored by those who specialize in speed-based | |
| combat, and requires an immense amount of combat speed and | |
| flexibility to utilize this ability effectively. Because of the | |
| faster movement, the power of the attacks also increases, | |
| meaning this form also has increased power compared to some | |
| other styles as well. This style also trains the mind and | |
| reflexes, as the higher speed the body is trained to move at | |
| often requires the mind to react and operate far more quickly | |
| than with other styles. However, the main focus of this is speed | |
| and agility over all else, using techniques to keep opponents | |
| from being able to attack by using fast attacks to keep | |
| opponents on the defensive. Masters of this style can utilize | |
| this to almost appear to vanish when moving to dodge or attack, | |
| with some being able to move fast enough that their attacks are | |
| not even visible to the naked eye. When it comes to this style, | |
| the major downside is that the body focuses on agility and | |
| speed, so attacks are focused with that in mind. The increased | |
| power is more an effect at moving at higher speeds, but other | |
| than that, most attacks are actually a bit weaker since speed is | |
| more heavily trained for. This means that attacks are a bit | |
| weaker (though the increased speed increasing power and | |
| attacking vitals are both means to counter this weakness). The | |
| training of the mind is also important, as without this | |
| training, the mind wouldn't be able to comprehend how fast they | |
| were going which would be a major problem. Some that cannot | |
| process how fast they move with this style may have to only use | |
| this in short bursts. Other than that, mostly the same rules | |
| apply as other styles, where styles, users and experience | |
| usually combine to determine who will win overall as it is not | |
| just one factor that decides who would win a fight using a | |
| style. This is also the most difficult style to master, | |
| requiring time and effective training no matter the combat | |
| talent as this style requires building up the body and mind, not | |
| just learning techniques like most people think. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Substyle: Leiji (Lightning Strike) Substyle: | |
| This is a style that is often replicated in other styles just as | |
| the aspect of flowing water is. Many styles focus on striking | |
| fast and striking strong like lightning. In this style, users | |
| learn to do just that. By using the Chrishoken elements of the | |
| Kenpo style, a Nightfire learns extreme speed, while also having | |
| to learn Baguazhang to strike opponents. When done correctly, | |
| the style will often be extremely fast, while also hitting with | |
| immense impact. When combined with dark lightning manipulation, | |
| users of this style are able to hit opponents and then use their | |
| lightning at the point of impact to blast opponents. While this | |
| may seem similar to the flowing water style in some aspects, | |
| this style focuses more on speed and striking power. When using | |
| this style, most Darkfires not only focus on amping their bodies | |
| with dark lightning to enhance their physical stats, but also | |
| focus on electrocuting their enemies when striking them or when | |
| blocking attacks. Some users of this style have even thrown in | |
| some aspects of Judo and Jujitsu to grab, throw or even lock | |
| down opponents and then use their dark lightning to electrocute | |
| opponents (usually as a means to disable them). Like Chrishoken, | |
| this is a mostly offensive style, designed around overwhelming | |
| an opponent and not allowing them to get an attack in rather | |
| than fighting defensively. Users of this style are both fast and | |
| hit with strong force, making this a great style to use | |
| offensively. Nightfires that use the grabs, locks and holds also | |
| have certain other options when fighting up close, which gives | |
| this style even better use against opponents. However, unlike | |
| the Chrishoken style that focuses more on offense, this style | |
| does have some defensive options that are carried over from the | |
| Baguazhang style. Users can not only use defensive blocks and | |
| parries, but can also use lightning defensively to electrocute | |
| people who try to make physical contact with opponents. | |
| Opponents that want to counter this style will often find that | |
| the best way to avoid electrical attacks is to use either water | |
| to short out the style's lightning, or use non-conductive | |
| clothes or armor to avoid getting electrocuted. Other than that, | |
| this style can be countered like any other speed based style. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Substyle: Hei'an Chushou (Dark Tendril) | |
| Substyle: In this style, the Nightfires developed this as their | |
| own substyle meant to be their own substyle that is different | |
| from any substyle of the Darkfires. In this style, the | |
| Nightfires utilize their shadow manipulation in conjunction wtih | |
| the style, but instead of just striking with their fists or | |
| kicks, they also utilize shadow tendrils that can extend from | |
| their bodies like weapons. When using this style, the Nightfire | |
| weaponizes their shadows, and learns to use them in different | |
| ways to attack enemies. The shadow tendrils created for this | |
| style are created to attack enemies or to be used defensively, | |
| allowing the Nightfire more options in combat. For example, if | |
| the Nightfire is too far away to strike an opponent directly, | |
| the Nightfire can utilize a shadow tendril to extend their | |
| attack, where they can either use a technique like Piquaquan to | |
| have the tendril attack like a whip, or they can sharpen the | |
| shadow tendril so that it spears an opponent. This style can | |
| also use shadow tendrils for takedowns and jujitsu style | |
| grapples and throws, where the Nightfire can utilize this to try | |
| and grab limbs and use it to throw opponents. This substyle has | |
| a variety of uses, and can be tailored depending on the | |
| Nightfire. Some can even change the forms of the tendrils, | |
| forming other shapes and shadow weapons. For example, some may | |
| chose to create a shield from a shadow tendril to block an | |
| attack, or some may form shadow weapons they can use like | |
| spears, axes or even blades. This style can also be used propel | |
| or be used to boost the movement of a user, such as a user might | |
| bounce off a surface by using tendrils to springboard off a | |
| surface, or they may use other objects to grapple to in order to | |
| help their movement. The Nightfires may even be able to focus | |
| their shadow elementals through this substyle as well, such as | |
| their tendrils could be made of burning darkness. Typically, | |
| this style is like any other fighting style, as long as one | |
| keeps in mind the options available since being able to create | |
| shadow tendrils from their body means the opponent has to keep | |
| an eye on their opponent to see when the body manifests them. | |
| Also, while this does work well normally, these tendrils can | |
| only be manifested from the body, and cannot be manifested | |
| unless the user has the energy to do so and there is not intense | |
| light negating shadow use. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Stepping Method: Kouhou Haiho: This is the | |
| stepping method used by those who use Chinese Kenpo, being | |
| derived from the Baguazhang sub-style as it's main way of moving | |
| around and using stepping methods. This technique is focused on | |
| dodging opponents, and specializes in moving around opponents | |
| while they're attacking. The key to this technique is how the | |
| user moves their feet, as when the user steps forward with the | |
| right foot they can put all their weight on it and that leaves | |
| the left foot free, allowing them to pivot away to the other | |
| side of the opponent. The user leaves their upper body in place | |
| until the very last moment, and by pivoting away, the user moves | |
| with immense speed when they pivot away. Users often use this in | |
| order to sidestep opponents and get behind them, in which this | |
| style is more about moving to avoid attacks. However, this style | |
| is far from being purely defensive, as this stepping method does | |
| also have offensive elements to it. The main thing is that this | |
| makes taking advantage of opponents easier, as the point of this | |
| movement to the side also can be used to knock opponents | |
| off-balance by kicking their legs while the opponent is in | |
| motion. By doing this, users learn to take advantage of an | |
| opponent's momentum, and use it to their advantage. Because it | |
| uses the opponent's momentum, not the user's own physical | |
| strength, most find the throws extremely easy to use when done | |
| right as this can knock even stronger opponent's off-balance. | |
| Typically, this style is only really used in close quarters to | |
| an opponent, and is only effective when used near an opponent. | |
| Using it far away doesn't grant any special movements, since | |
| this style is more for sidestepping around opponents than moving | |
| through empty space. As such, users of this style should only | |
| really use this in close quarters combat, and switch to the | |
| second stepping method, Sonido, when trying to move through | |
| distance (more on Sonido later). This stepping method also has | |
| to be done precisely to be effective, and if an opponent figures | |
| out what the user is doing, they can also move out of the way if | |
| they can change their movement direction. Once the opponent | |
| figures out how this works, this stepping method can be | |
| countered more easily since it is a very simple stepping method. | |
| - Nightfire Kenpo Stepping Method: Chinmoku (Silence Step): This | |
| stepping method is the other stepping method used across the | |
| Nightfire Kenpo style, and is based on death wraith stealth | |
| movement rather than the Darkfires who based this on hollow | |
| Sonido. This is a supernatural style training in movement, in | |
| which users are able to move at high speeds, replicating certain | |
| supernatural beings movements using amplified physical stats and | |
| techniques. This style of movement uses supernatural movement | |
| styles in order to utilize their speed to the utmost ability. In | |
| the case of the Nightfires, they use their darkness enhancement | |
| of their bodies to power the speed boost in this style. When | |
| used, this is designed to allow users to move at high speeds, | |
| covering distances between then or an opponent or even traveling | |
| at high speeds when needed. Unlike the Darkfires, the Nightfires | |
| use silent movement, where their steps utilize the stealth | |
| combat aspect of their combat style. Advanced users of this | |
| style are fast enough to copy the Darkfire's own unique Sonido | |
| arts that let them leave afterimages, and some have even figured | |
| out how to use certain steps in order to leave behind essence | |
| that creates an almost solid afterimage. While not fully there, | |
| the image has some substance to it in which a user can do damage | |
| with this, or use it to fool opponents while they move behind | |
| them. This style is extremely fast, and when in motion, the user | |
| will often disappear from view because they move faster than the | |
| eyes can track. By using this, the Nightfires incorporated this | |
| into their combat styles, alongside the Kouho Haiho. While the | |
| Kouho Haiho is used at close range, this is used at mid range or | |
| long range in order to cover distances, but can also be used in | |
| close combat due to it allowing fast movement even if one needs | |
| to move around an obstacle. Both stepping methods are essential | |
| for any Nigthfire Kenpo user as the style uses Chinmoku and | |
| Kouho Haiho as a backbone of the Nightfire Kenpo style since the | |
| legs are usually the foundation of most combat styles. This is | |
| only a movement method though, and not a combat style unto | |
| itself, so using it on it's own is not always as effective. This | |
| is much harder to counter without any visible sound when using | |
| this, making the Nightfires far more dangerous with this | |
| technique. If one wants to counter it though, there are plenty | |
| of high speed movement options and other movement styles that | |
| can counter this depending on the skill of the user, and | |
| opponents that can move at similar speeds may be able to keep up | |
| with users of this stepping style. As with any style, the user | |
| can be overcome when using this depending on the opponent's | |
| style, skill, experience and techniques they may have. | |
| Other Combat Abilities: | |
| - Death Wraith Todesgeister Style Mastery: This is the style of | |
| basic combat taught to all death wraiths that has been passed | |
| down among death wraiths. This style combines basic defensive | |
| and offensive movement with death wraith shadow power, where the | |
| death wraiths learn to combine their physical combat with their | |
| shadows in order to attack opponents with a combination of | |
| physical abilities and darkness abilities. This could be as | |
| simple as extending a punch using shadows to throw a punch at an | |
| opponent, or turning a shadow into a blade to use a weapon-esque | |
| style. Typically this style can be mixed with mortal martial | |
| arts, or can be mixed with other supernatural power as well to | |
| make a more unique style. This style is very adaptable, | |
| depending on the death wraith and what they prefer in fights, as | |
| well as depending on how adaptable the individual death wraith | |
| is in their combat style. This is a fairly basic style to most, | |
| but allows a bit of customization depending on the death wraith | |
| and their skill at combat. Masters of this style are able to use | |
| this for attack and defense using fluid motion and depending on | |
| the death wraith, can focus on their durability, strength, | |
| agility, flexibility and/or speed, depending on the death | |
| wraith's own individual abilities. Typically, this style can mix | |
| supernatural power and physical combat in a variety of ways, | |
| such as certain abilities giving physical attacks more impact, | |
| or some extending a fighter's reach, or even some that can be | |
| used for more mobility and speed. This style can be used on it's | |
| own for pure physical combat, a mix of supernatural and physical | |
| power, or it can be used as a weapon style to mix weapon combat | |
| with supernatural abilities of the death wraiths. Since each | |
| Death Wraith is different, how they use this is typically | |
| different and tailored to each death wraith just like their soul | |
| sword is. Typically this style is taught to a basic death | |
| wraiths, and they usually find their own ways to use the finer | |
| points of it and develop their own variation of the style that | |
| they master as they continue training. | |
| - Elite Soul Collector Combat Masters: A Death Wraith specially | |
| trained is a skilled warrior and highly trained assassin. Those | |
| with elite soul collector combat training can specialize in | |
| several death wraith and human martial arts, and have an easier | |
| time learning new combat styles thanks to their advanced | |
| training for taking on mortals and lost souls. These Death | |
| Wraith are at peak performance levels for their kind and train | |
| for maximum control over powers and physical body, as this | |
| training helps focus the things that hurt other combat | |
| specialists, and most death wraith learn to minimize their own | |
| body's distractions in battle. Those that are trained in this | |
| are trained specifically to fight lost souls, hollows and other | |
| forms of ghosts or specters that they might face in the living | |
| world. This is specifically taught to those that are part of the | |
| soul collection teams, and typically taught in lesser capacity | |
| to those that are trained as part of the dark spirit hunter | |
| teams in case they find a lost souls or specter they have to | |
| face. This style also teaches other aspects of a death wraith's | |
| abilities, and allows both males and females to shut down all | |
| emotional and reproductive systems to allow for peak performance | |
| and to keep down the chances for getting distracted, allowing | |
| them to keep their minds focused on fights when they need to. | |
| However, the biggest problem with this style is that being too | |
| focused can lead to being surprised by sneak attacks or by | |
| interruptions to fights due to how focused they become on | |
| fights. However, advanced and master level death wraiths are | |
| able to use this without losing focus on the environment around | |
| them, having tuned to a balance between focus on the fight and | |
| focus on what's around them so they don't find themselves too | |
| focused or too distracted. | |
| - Dark Spirit Hunter Combat Masters: Those death wraiths that | |
| are part of the dark spirit hunter teams are trained | |
| specifically in this type of combat, where death wraiths are | |
| taught as much as possible about dark spirits, dark spirit | |
| types, and the abilities of dark spirits. Users of this combat | |
| training are trained specifically to fight dark spirits, and can | |
| handle combat with almost any kind of dark spirit. Fighting dark | |
| spirits takes more than just a soul sword and purifying | |
| darkness, as death wraiths have to learn the abilities of dark | |
| spirits and how to counter them in order to not be overtaken by | |
| certain unique spirits that have strange and unique abilities. | |
| For example, a consumer's ability to absorb energy means that | |
| most typical energy type attacks like elements or other energies | |
| would simply be absorbed, and that means most unique soul sword | |
| projectile attacks wouldn't work on a consumer. Death wraiths | |
| are taught specific abilities and weaknesses of dark spirits, | |
| and how to counter almost any dark spirit ability they know of. | |
| Users of this are experts in dark spirits, and specialize in | |
| hunting down dark spirits of the shadow realm. Thanks to this | |
| training, those trained in this combat are able to focus | |
| specifically on destroying dark spirits, and usually are able to | |
| focus enough to identify and often find weaknesses in a dark | |
| spirit they hunt down. While soul collector death wraiths are | |
| trained in this to a much lesser degree, dark spirit hunter | |
| death wraith teams have to be specifically trained in this | |
| combat training, and quickly have to learn how to become masters | |
| of battling dark spirits, lest they be overwhelmed and killed by | |
| dark spirits. Many death wraiths who don't take this seriously | |
| have been killed by dark spirits, or worse, been consumed by | |
| dark spirits. This style is focused on dark spirits though, and | |
| not so much on any other kind of creature, so it's useless | |
| against anything not of the shadow realm. Masters can apply | |
| certain aspects of this to fighting other darkness users though, | |
| or other abilities similar to darkness abilities that operate on | |
| similar principles. | |
| - Death Wraith Human Fighting Styles: During their time on | |
| earth, and to learn different combat abilities, most death | |
| wraiths opt to learn human styles of combat. Depending on the | |
| death wraith, their abilities, and their access to teachers who | |
| can train them, death wraiths can learn almost any human | |
| fighting style thanks to their human adaptability and can even | |
| optimize some styles with their supernatural abilities. | |
| Depending on the death wraith, there are plenty of options, as | |
| humanity has a great number of styles taught all over the world. | |
| Depending on the combat that the death wraith might be opting | |
| for, some styles may work better than others. For example, | |
| styles that focus on distance and not getting too close to an | |
| opponent might be better to fight dark spirits who can affect | |
| opponents through physical touch, or some that focus on bone | |
| snapping or grappling might work against lost souls depending on | |
| the style's effect on the lost soul. This is usually up to the | |
| death wraith, and they can often learn multiple styles. Usually, | |
| it is better to learn one and master it, but some can also learn | |
| multiple styles and blend them together as well since sometimes | |
| certain styles combined together can be more versatile than the | |
| styles individually. Among popular choices are Karate (A style | |
| that focuses more on fluid movement and attack), Jujitsu (a | |
| style that uses grapples and throws primarily) Krav Maga (an | |
| Israeli army favorite designed to kill opponents), Kenpo (a | |
| style that may focus on strikes, grapples or other aspects | |
| depending on the variation), Muay Thai (a style that utilizes | |
| joints for deadly strikes in combination with normal attacks), | |
| and Shotokan Karate (a style that focuses on minimal movement | |
| and focus above all else). Each style is unique and can be | |
| learned by death wraiths. There are also supernatural combat | |
| styles that death wraiths can learn, such as swordsman death | |
| wraiths could learn sword styles like Shingetsu (a style that | |
| combines piercing with sword draws to create a fast and | |
| versatile style), Gatotsu (A simplistic style that is easy to | |
| predict but hard to counter for those that fight using simpler | |
| attack styles), Hiten Mitsurugi (a style that combines | |
| incredible speed and predicting opponents to allow users to more | |
| easily counter opponents), Kenjutsu (a basic combat style that | |
| is easily customizable and can be adjusted using an opponent's | |
| preferred combat style), and Kendo (another simpler style that | |
| focuses on how to properly utilize a sword in battle). Every | |
| style has its strengths and weaknesses, and each style can be | |
| countered by other styles depending on the style. | |
| - Death Wraith Stealth Combat Master (Stealth and Tracking | |
| Evasion Master): Death wraiths specialize in stealth, and this | |
| shows in their combat thanks to their specialized combat | |
| training. They are not only able to fight with stealth, but they | |
| have the ability to avoid tracking of most kinds thanks to their | |
| natural abilities. For the most part, death wraiths are masters | |
| of stealth, being able to hide from anyone around them, usually | |
| through the use of shadows, though masters of combat are able to | |
| hide without using shadows and using just their combat | |
| abilities. For the most part, when one tries to track down a | |
| death wraith, they eliminate most things that would normally | |
| give them away to trackers, such as causing things like blood, | |
| hair and skin particles to disappear into the shadows, or even | |
| being able to stay silent so that others cannot hear them. Most | |
| death wraiths are able to avoid trackers to a large degree, and | |
| are able to use their abilities in stealth in ways most normally | |
| wouldn't. Advanced death wraiths and master level death wraiths | |
| are able to use this style to hide even in plain sight, where | |
| they can use the environment to hide themselves from opponents. | |
| For the most part, the only times a death wraith is found is | |
| when they want to be, they are facing a powerful tracker that | |
| knows how to track death wraiths, or they are being tracked with | |
| a supernatural spell. This is taught to all death wraiths, and | |
| is useful in both the shadow realm and in the living world | |
| whether they are soul collector teams or dark spirit hunter | |
| teams. | |
| - Death Wraith Combat Speed Art: Stealth Step: This style is a | |
| stepping method focused around stealth, in which it was | |
| developed similarly to a soul reapers Flashstep, or the hollow | |
| art of Sonido. This allows death wraiths to use advanced speed | |
| arts, in which they are able to use high speed stepping methods | |
| to get ahead of most opponents and move at higher speeds. There | |
| are a number of arts that come with this stepping method. The | |
| biggest one is the shadow replacement, where a death wraith can | |
| leave behind shadows, in the form of the user in order to fool | |
| opponents, allowing a user to use a darkness form to fool an | |
| opponent into thinking they hit the user, and opens them up to | |
| attack if the user falls for this. This is similar to a | |
| replacement technique where people replace themselves with | |
| things like clones or ninja art using logs. The art makes no | |
| sound upon use, as it's designed for stealth over anything else, | |
| and utilizes special stepping methods that are meant to be | |
| completely silent. Upon using this, a death wraith makes no | |
| sound at all, meaning that foot steps cannot be heard, making a | |
| death wraith's stealth-based combat even more dangerous when | |
| combined with their stealth arts. While this art is speedy and | |
| can be used for stealth, it still works similar to other | |
| stepping methods, where things like disappearing from view can | |
| only be done while in motion. Typically, faster opponents that | |
| can keep up with them aren't fooled by this though, and this | |
| typically works best against opponents that can't keep up with | |
| their speed. However, this style is meant more to be the | |
| stepping method that is the basis of most of their combat | |
| styles, since stepping methods are extremely important in combat | |
| styles and often form the basis of a good combat style, since | |
| legwork is one of the most important basic aspects of moving | |
| around in battle. | |
| - Supernatural Strengths and Weaknesses Expert: Since the death | |
| wraiths have fought for so long and fought so many supernaturals | |
| both dead and alive, they have learned everything they can about | |
| other races and have become experts in almost every kind of | |
| creature, even knowing a lot of creatures that have been | |
| forgotten by time and knowing most creatures in the world. | |
| Typically, death wraiths specialize in dark spirit and lost soul | |
| hunting, but they also have to learn about all kinds of beings | |
| and how to collect their souls when in the human world, since | |
| even supernaturals have to be taken to the afterlife. The death | |
| wraiths have entire libraries on all manners of supernatural | |
| lore and creatures, and they know the strengths and weaknesses | |
| of almost every race that has ever lived in their universe (not | |
| counting some creatures from other universes or some creatures | |
| from the space between dimensions). This is a very useful | |
| knowledge base, which includes spells, exorcisms and traps used | |
| against almost all manners of supernaturals. For the most part, | |
| the death wraiths as a race have been around since before most | |
| races in the world and have had the time to record a lot of | |
| information for other death wraiths on how to hunt down and | |
| fight specific types of supernaturals. Though the death wraiths | |
| are not specifically supernatural hunters in the traditional | |
| sense, they do have to know how to fight supernaturals when they | |
| are collecting souls of dead supernaturals, as many death | |
| wraiths would testify. As many death wraiths will mention, | |
| simply collecting souls isn't just about countering spirit | |
| power, but supernatural powers of the beings they have to fight. | |
| Master level death wraiths have even been known to be able to | |
| collect full size dragon souls, and fight full size dragons that | |
| have died (depending on the universe), due to someone having to | |
| take the souls to the afterlife. | |
| - Supernatural Hunting and Tracking: Though not supernatural | |
| hunters, the death wraiths know a lot of the tricks supernatural | |
| hunters use through research into supernatural hunting | |
| techniques and observation of mortals, and picked up a lot of | |
| tricks to track people down partially through experience of | |
| hunting down supernatural souls, but also through the knowledge | |
| that the death wraiths have gained since they were established | |
| by Toranoraos. This has left them with not only a great sense | |
| for hunting down opponents they need to hunt down, but also left | |
| them with an innate ability to track opponents as they have to | |
| track down souls. Typically, they specialize in tracking ghosts, | |
| dead souls or hollows, but also learn to track living beings | |
| depending on what they end up having to do. They are able to | |
| learn to do very subtle things, like tell whether a foot print | |
| is his target or not by things like the shape of the boot and | |
| how deep the boot-print is, as well as also being able to tell | |
| where their opponents go thanks to circumstances like walking on | |
| plants, and animals that are unusually silent being signs of | |
| predators in an area. They usually have a sense of when | |
| opponents are near, as well as usually knowing which way an | |
| opponent is going. And thanks to supernatural senses as well as | |
| enhanced normal senses, almost all werecreatures have a great | |
| sense of where things are around them. Depending on the death | |
| wraith, most often learn either to track supernaturals and | |
| souls, or they may learn to track dark spirits depending on | |
| their job, so this is a very important skill to have since death | |
| wraiths have to be able to track down targets whether its in the | |
| Shadow Realm, The Veil or the living world. | |
| - Supernatural Hunter Training: Exorcism, Weakness and Trap | |
| Knowledge: All death wraiths are trained in how to use demonic | |
| exorcisms and traps for a multitude of creatures and | |
| mythologies, due to their need to know how to counter other | |
| races. During their time working for Toranoraos as soul | |
| collectors and dark spirit hunters, they were taught many | |
| manners of exorcisms and traps in order to take advantage of | |
| other races weaknesses that other species use. For example, the | |
| death wraiths know that holy oil works well for trapping angels, | |
| and know to make demon traps to trap demons. For the most part, | |
| they also know how most supernaturals operate, in case they | |
| should find themselves up against the souls of supernatural | |
| beings. The death wraiths are fully trained on every recorded | |
| way their order has on taking on supernaturals and they use this | |
| knowledge to make their soul collection jobs easier. Typically, | |
| this is taught mostly to soul collection teams, since dark | |
| spirit hunting teams have their own special training. Death | |
| wraiths have had a long time to record ways to trap, exorcise | |
| and find weaknesses of many of the types of beings that live in | |
| the mortal realm. As death wraiths will testify, knowledge in | |
| exorcism, trapping supernaturals and knowing weaknesses has made | |
| their jobs collecting supernatural souls so much easier, and | |
| some masters of these arts can easily trap or exorcise beings | |
| while using their ability to trap souls to contain a soul | |
| without needing to fight a long and lengthy battle to weaken the | |
| soul first. | |
| - Murderous Intent Sense: This lets those with this sense when | |
| an attack is coming. This is a skill warriors get by fighting | |
| constantly for many years, learning how to sense someone's | |
| murderous intent usually through encountering it first-hand. | |
| This lets the user read their environment as well as the spirits | |
| of people around them in order to see what attacks might be | |
| coming their way by reading an opponent's body language and the | |
| "sense" of people around them. This gives them a passive sense | |
| of reading people who might try to hurt them, as they can sense | |
| when someone is ready to attack. Some can sense this literally, | |
| but most sense it in an instinctive way once their instincts | |
| have been developed through constant fighting and battles. This | |
| gives the user time to dodge or avoid an attack, and to some | |
| extent, helps the person predict what opponents will do in a | |
| fight. For example, by reading an opponent's body language, such | |
| as how they move or how tense they might be, a user of this can | |
| read opponents. However, this sense is not perfect, and some | |
| opponents can't be read if they have similar skills or can | |
| disguise their murderous intent or they learn skills that can | |
| trick people with this sense. This sense is usually pretty | |
| reliable unless one can suppress their murderous intent, and is | |
| usually instinctive among people who have seen a lot of battle | |
| and those that have fought for their lives multiple times. The | |
| only real way to develop this is experience, as no amount of | |
| training can truly grasp how this sense truly works. Death | |
| wraiths, as they get older and more experienced, can hone this | |
| to great degrees, as death wraiths can live for much longer than | |
| most creatures would be able to. | |
| Passive Abilities: | |
| - Death Wraith Affinity for Darkness Abilities: Death wraiths | |
| have a natural affinity for darkness manipulation, and have a | |
| natural ability to pick up new darkness techniques and powers | |
| depending on their skill sets. Many death wraiths can pick up | |
| how to utilize darkness techniques that opponents might use, or | |
| learn to counter almost any kind of darkness. The only darkness | |
| that death wraiths have trouble with is whispering darkness, | |
| which comes from Xeles and drives even darkness users crazy if | |
| the darkness doesn't kill them first. Death wraiths are among | |
| the most natural darkness users in the multiverse, designed | |
| specifically for darkness over light. While they do have limits, | |
| death wraiths natural affinities for darkness make them among | |
| the best darkness users. While they cannot copy all darkness | |
| types and abilities (as their ability to learn new darkness | |
| abilities often depends on their own capabilities), they do | |
| learn how most darkness powers work quickly, and can learn ways | |
| to counter most darkness abilities that they may not have. One | |
| such example is corrupted darkness, which death wraiths know how | |
| it works, but cannot absorb corrupted darkness due to it being | |
| like poison to darkness users. Depending on the user and their | |
| knowledge, some darkness techniques might prove difficult to | |
| analyze and try to replicate. For example, a spirit user that | |
| combines darkness with spirit energy isn't going to be able to | |
| be used by a death wraith who cannot manipulate spirit energy, | |
| though they may learn how it works and know how to counter it if | |
| they analyze it. The only darkness that death wraiths often have | |
| trouble with are those used by dark spirits, as dark spirits | |
| darkness doesn't always follow the normal laws of darkness, such | |
| as how dark spirits can access the deep shadow realm from pure | |
| darkness (darkness that is devoid of all light. | |
| - Death Wraith Immunity to Shadow/Death Effects: Due to the | |
| death wraiths being born and created in darkness, they are | |
| completely immune to most darkness abilities and the effects of | |
| death energy due to how powerful their darkness is. For the most | |
| part, death wraiths are able to resist almost any form of | |
| darkness as well as death energy effects like rotting or acidic | |
| shadows, or the rotting effects of death energy. While they can | |
| still be hurt by the physical force of attacks, or they can be | |
| hurt by impact or slash damage of attacks, they are completely | |
| immune to any specific extra effects of darkness or death | |
| energy. Usually, darkness powers are dangerous to use on a death | |
| wraith since most darkness attacks don't do any real damage | |
| other than physical damage, and some death wraiths might not | |
| take physical damage from shadow attacks (such as shadow slashes | |
| or shadow blasts), other than slight impact damage. Of course, | |
| one should know that beings born of darkness would be almost | |
| completely immune to the power of darkness. There are a few | |
| exceptions to this, such as corrupted light and corrupted | |
| darkness, which can still be used to damage death wraiths, | |
| certain dark spirits can overpower this as well depending on the | |
| dark spirit or certain death abilities like a death scythe or a | |
| grim reapers mix of life and death energies may still be able to | |
| hurt a death wraith depending on their skill. Of course, with | |
| this immunity, due to them being creatures of death and shadows, | |
| death wraiths are more vulnerable to light and the effects of | |
| life energies, since these forces can counter their natures. | |
| - Death Wraith Resistance to Dark Spirit/Dark Arts/Dark Magic: | |
| While not immune to dark spirits and dark magics, death wraiths | |
| do gain some resistance to them thanks to them being made of | |
| darkness. Most death wraiths have heavy resistances to dark | |
| arts, dark magic or any power that uses darkness. While most one | |
| would think death wraiths would be immune to these kinds of | |
| abilities, some of these abilities utilize other aspects that | |
| can damage death wraiths. However, over time, death wraiths have | |
| learned to reduce the effects of dark arts and dark magics used | |
| against them. Dark arts are fairly simple, as they are powered | |
| by darkness, and often are used by creatures like dark spirits | |
| or other primordial dark entities. Because the dark arts were | |
| originally developed by Xeles, they are specifically designed to | |
| fight death wraiths as the dark spirits main enemies, so death | |
| wraiths cannot gain complete immunity to dark arts used by those | |
| that are empowered by those like Xeles or Phantom. In terms of | |
| dark magic, it mostly the same situation, except that dark magic | |
| is powered by darkness to utilize magic, so death wraiths cannot | |
| become completely immune to dark magic unless they have a magic | |
| immunity in addition to their darkness effect immunity. Dark | |
| spirits are among the most dangerous as they specifically are | |
| designed to kill death wraiths, so most dark spirits have ways | |
| to counter death wraith immunities to darkness effects or have | |
| darkness abilities that can hurt them. While they do have | |
| resistance to most dark spirit based abilities, death wraiths | |
| don't have immunity to Xeles's whispering darkness, and some | |
| more powerful darkness abilities that some dark spirits possess. | |
| While they can counter these abilities, these abilities are some | |
| that cannot gain resistance to. | |
| - Nightfire Assassination Art: Poison/Contaminate | |
| Resistance/Durability Enhancement: For the Nightfires, this is a | |
| major training they use to train the Nightfire for becoming an | |
| assassin. From a young age, those that are trained are trained | |
| specifically to become resistant to poison and contaminates, | |
| specifically so that other assassins cannot kill them easily. | |
| When in this training, the Nightfires have their own methods of | |
| training in this aspect. The most common one is a common | |
| assassin trick where the Nightfires who train in this are fed | |
| small amounts of poison and contaminates so that their body | |
| develops resistances and, even in some more extreme cases, | |
| immunities to poisons and contaminates. This means that | |
| Nightfires who have been trained properly are usually resistant | |
| to poisons and gain a natural talent for resisting almost any | |
| poison or contaminate as long as it's something they have had | |
| some exposure to. And even if a Nightfire doesn't gain special | |
| resistances, this also has another purpose for the Nigthfire's | |
| training. When training in this method, this also trains a | |
| Nightfire's durability, where they learn to operate under | |
| extreme circumstances and strengthen their bodies against | |
| internal damage. While internal damage would usually be done | |
| through poisons and similar things, this also helps strengthen | |
| the Nightfire's bodies against attacks, where the Nightfire | |
| becomes more durable both inside and out thanks to this | |
| training. Most Nightfires have resistances to a lot of common | |
| poisons and contaminates thanks to this training, and even gain | |
| the ability to build up resistances to poisons and new | |
| contaminates more easily. However, while this is great for | |
| granting durability enhancement and poison resistances, this | |
| doesn't always help against some opponents, such as those who | |
| are experienced enough may still poison a Nightfire if they are | |
| skilled enough with poison to change the poison to something the | |
| Nightfire doesn't know, or contaminates that the Nightfire may | |
| not be able to gain resistances to might include things like | |
| varanium and some supernatural metals. And in terms of | |
| durability, stronger opponents can still bypass a Nightfire's | |
| durability with stronger attacks. | |
| - Nightfire Assassin Training: Precision Body Control/Movement: | |
| For the almost any fighter, few things are as frustrating as | |
| attacking an enemy and their full power not being transferred | |
| into a blow. When people attack, some of the force is always | |
| wasted, due to things like the force dispursing not just into | |
| the attack, or some of the attack force may be countered by wind | |
| resistance or friction. In order to counter this, the Nightfires | |
| build themselves up in learning to control their movements, and | |
| train themselves to precisely control their body and actions. In | |
| this training, a Nightfire learns to specifically move and put | |
| their force of movement as fully into their attacks and | |
| movements as they can, trying to minimize the loss due to things | |
| like friction and air resistance. Depending on the Nightfire, | |
| there are many ways to do this, but most Nightfires train by | |
| learning to move with precision in their basic training, only | |
| moving the exact amount that they want to move. Upon learning to | |
| do this, they not only gain specific movement abilities, but | |
| they learn to focus their physical strength depending on what | |
| they want to do. For example, if a Nightfire should want to | |
| fight in a non-lethal manner, then they could focus the strength | |
| of their attack to not be put into the blow itself, and more | |
| into spreading the impact force over the body. This could turn a | |
| potential dangerous slash into an incapacitation move rather | |
| than a fatal blow. This also allows Nightfires to move in a way | |
| that they can also put all of their strength into attacking when | |
| they choose too, and they are able to utilize this training to | |
| focus more attack power than most other fighters. However, while | |
| Nightfires who use this are tougher and stronger than many other | |
| warriors, this doesn't mean that Nightfires are invincible, and | |
| their training can still be overcome by stronger or sometimes | |
| even more experienced warriors. This is a good method of | |
| training, but is not meant to be the only method of training a | |
| Nightfire does as it's more of a basic training than an actually | |
| fighting style, so this shouldn't replace any fighting styles | |
| the Nightfire has. | |
| - Nightfire Inherited Ability: Natural Combat Talents: Every | |
| Nightfire is born with unique combat talents. Since the | |
| Nightfires are a death wraith clan and a family that learns | |
| combat from an early age to learn how to master themselves, the | |
| Nightfires are all born with some form of combat talent. This | |
| combat talent comes in a variety of forms depending on the | |
| Nightfire and what natural talents they are born with. For | |
| example, there are many Nightfires born with supernatural combat | |
| adaption where they develop a natural talent for subconsciously | |
| adapting to supernatural combat. For example, some have a | |
| natural talent for adapting to their enemies combat style, where | |
| they can adapt to almost any combat style and learn how to | |
| counter it during combat. Some Nightfires could develop natural | |
| talent for other things though, such as some who have an | |
| instinctual combat sense that lets them instinctually recognize | |
| threats and avoid danger (with such Nightfires usually having | |
| some instinctual dodging ability). Among other natural talents | |
| include Nightfires who may have natural talents for certain | |
| weapon styles or skillsets. As mentioned, this combat talent is | |
| different for each Darkfire, and some may even have multiple | |
| natural talents (Such as some may have increased intelligence in | |
| combination with combat talents). This isn't just limited to how | |
| to fight though, as some even gain specific intelligence or | |
| reflex based talents that might not always apply to combat. | |
| Depending on the Nightfire and their talents, this comes in all | |
| shapes and sizes, making it hard to list each case of this, but | |
| the results usually blend together and most end up in the same | |
| result: The Nightfires are naturally talented in combat, and are | |
| not to be underestimated. While the Nightfires aren't skilled | |
| enough to take out every single threat out there, the Nightfires | |
| are very skilled warriors who have natural talents for combat | |
| that they have to figure out and train up. Of course, natural | |
| talent can only go so far, so it is important to note that the | |
| Nightfires also train their talents and don't just rely on the | |
| natural talent. This talent can be overcome by some opponents, | |
| especially among those that have natural talents of their own, | |
| or some that have no talent can overcome a Nightfire's talent if | |
| they are skilled enough through training or experience. Also, it | |
| is rare, but some Nightfires might be born without natural | |
| talents and can only get stronger through intense training to | |
| push beyond not having natural talent. Typically, this type of | |
| combat talent grows stronger more quickly when the Nightfire is | |
| younger, but levels out when the Nightfire reaches a certain | |
| older age once they reach a certain level of combat talent. This | |
| means that Nightfire usually have more growth when they're | |
| younger when they're still learning, but their growth slows down | |
| when they get older and their talent comes more from experience. | |
| - Nightfire Trained Ability: Trained Combat Talents: The | |
| Nightfires are not just naturally talented, and as mentioned | |
| before, the Nightfires train in combat at an early age. Whether | |
| a Nightfire has natural talent or not, the Nightfires all train | |
| in combat in order to build up their skills. There is something | |
| to be said for experience in combat helping a warrior grow, and | |
| the Nightfires are no different. Through training and | |
| experience, the Nightfires build up their combat from the ground | |
| up, to the point that most Nightfires will go so far as to train | |
| the basics for years before they move on to more advanced | |
| training in order to master the basic foundations of their | |
| skills which gives them a better ability to learn new things | |
| once they have mastered the basics. Just like the natural combat | |
| talents, this talent comes in a variety of forms, but the result | |
| is the same: Every Nightfire trains their combat to the best of | |
| their ability, and trains to gain the most of their combat. | |
| Through training and experience, the Nightfires can learn | |
| different things about combat. Among some of the more common | |
| trained combat talents are those that learn to adapt to | |
| opponents through experience. And some NIghtfires may even learn | |
| to counter other opponents abilities through things like | |
| strategic thinking or by utilizing certain combat abilities in | |
| response to certain abilities in order to counter them. As time | |
| goes on, the Nightfires train themselves to use this more and | |
| more easily, where they may even use this combat talent without | |
| thinking, such as one experienced Nightfire who had trained to a | |
| point where they were able to dodge attacks instinctively as | |
| they had such combat experience that they could subconsciously | |
| recognize threats. The more experience one gets, the better the | |
| talent will become, no matter what trained combat talent the | |
| Nightfires develop over the years and no matter how much or how | |
| little natural talent the Nightfire has. Usually, the most | |
| common one is learning to adapt to combat styles as the | |
| Nightfires learn about more combat styles, or learning to adapt | |
| to certain supernatural combat by studying how others fight. As | |
| one might imagine though, this is something that also only goes | |
| so far depending on the Nightfire. This kind of combat talent | |
| starts out slow, but as the Nightfire trains, they gain more | |
| ability to learn as time goes on. Of course, all combat talents | |
| can be countered by stronger combat talents, or by opponents | |
| that might have special training to counter combat talents | |
| (usually through combat talents of their own). Typically, this | |
| is a combat talent that starts out small, but grows over time, | |
| in which this talent usually becomes stronger as the Nightfire's | |
| get older and more experienced. This typically gets stronger as | |
| the ability to adapt lessens as a Nightfire gets older, meaning | |
| that older Nightfires rely more on experience than natural | |
| talent. | |
| - Death Wraith Soul Weapon Bond: All death wraiths have soul | |
| weapons in some form, which are connected to them directly. Like | |
| many races ability to connect with their unique weapons, death | |
| wraiths gain a special bond with their weapons, which works | |
| similarly to soul reaper's zanpakuto bonds. A death wraith has | |
| to bond with the spirit of their weapon, which allows them a | |
| permanent connection that grants a few abilities. The first is | |
| that the death wraith can summon and de-summon their weapons at | |
| any time. Depending on the weapon, some may have unique ways of | |
| calling their weapon, like some death wraiths call their weapon | |
| from their shadow, or some may manifest it using some kind of | |
| energy. Regardless of the method, their weapons are always able | |
| to be summoned and de-summoned in some manner. The other ability | |
| is that death wraiths can control their weapons, usually through | |
| almost telekinetic means, by working with the weapon's spirit. | |
| When in harmony, the death wraiths weapons become not only an | |
| extension of themselves, but the weapon spirits can also help | |
| their owners, such as some weapon spirits being able to hold | |
| together injuries using their power or some weapon spirits who | |
| might be able to grant their energy to users to help keep them | |
| from dying in dire situations (if they have energy to give their | |
| hosts). The most common though is telekinetic control, where | |
| death wraiths often are able to control their weapons by working | |
| with their weapons spirits. While they don't speak or | |
| communicate in a traditional sense, the user's bond with the | |
| weapon can help a death wraith understand their weapon's moods, | |
| as weapons can reflect moods by how they act, such as some | |
| weapons might only activate under certain circumstances. This | |
| also allows a death wraith to fix their soul weapon if it is | |
| broken by de-summoning it and letting it absorb spirit energy | |
| until it repairs itself. Overall, this bond requires the weapon | |
| and death wraith to keep their spirits harmonized together, and | |
| if this balance falls apart, the death wraith may lose the | |
| ability to use the weapon's abilities, or in extreme cases, | |
| might not be able to summon the blade at all. | |
| - Death Wraith Supernatural Lifespan: The death wraiths are | |
| different from mortals, and live far longer than most creatures. | |
| Death wraiths live over a million years before dying of old age. | |
| This is mostly thanks to their regenerative powers of shadows | |
| and the fact they spend most of their lives in the shadow realm. | |
| The longest living death wraith lived up about 1.5 million | |
| years. Aside from creatures like angels and demons with no | |
| definite life span, death wraiths have the longest life spans of | |
| any known supernatural creatures. This means that most death | |
| wraiths age extremely slowly once they hit a certain point of | |
| their life cycle, and only once they reach about 950 thousand | |
| years does the age start to degrade their abilities, including | |
| their regeneration, in which they start aging until they die of | |
| old age over the course of the next 100,000 years. For the most | |
| part, depending on the strength of the regenerative power, some | |
| can live past a million years, but most usually die somewhere | |
| around the million year mark due to the fact they lose the | |
| ability to use a lot of their powers, and their lack of | |
| regeneration can longer keep them from getting weaker from old | |
| age. Until they reach the point where their abilities weaken, | |
| they typically remain very strong in their abilities and are | |
| usually in what many would consider a prime age range. The | |
| reason this is hard to predict is partially due to how, even | |
| weakened, aging death wraith still regenerate, still slowing | |
| their aging, so exact life spans are not easy to calculate for a | |
| race that lives over a million years. This also doesn't prevent | |
| them from being killed by enemies, as they can still be killed | |
| by enemies or by sicknesses depending on the situation. They can | |
| still be killed as most other creatures can as a whole, but this | |
| more just covers their natural life span. | |
| - Multilingual and Ancient Language Experts: Death wraiths have | |
| been around for a very long time and have had time to travel the | |
| world doing their job protecting humans and collecting souls or | |
| hunting dark spirits, so they have had plenty of time to learn | |
| other languages in order to interact with people. Some older | |
| death wraiths may even know certain out of date dead languages | |
| (languages with no new words being added and aren't spoken | |
| anymore), with some even being familiar with certain older | |
| languages that most wouldn't know. However, the time they have | |
| spent fighting supernaturals has also led to them learning other | |
| languages they need to understand other creatures, such as | |
| learning Enochian to learn more about angels as a whole, or | |
| learning Hebrew to learn more about fallen angels and demons. Of | |
| course, that's not to also mention the fact that all death | |
| wraiths have at least a few spoken languages they have to learn, | |
| with English, Spanish, and French being among the most common | |
| language families for them to learn. Because most death wraiths | |
| have been around for a long time, most death wraiths have also | |
| developed an affinity for learning new languages, and there are | |
| many with a collection of languages they know. It is also easier | |
| to learn a language if one is familiar with the language tree, | |
| such as Spanish and Portuguese being very similar languages due | |
| to being in the same language tree (though some might find the | |
| similarity between similar languages a bit too difficult to | |
| learn at times). Overall, death wraiths always have multiple | |
| languages they can speak depending on where they live or spend | |
| their time, whether it's for learning about supernaturals, | |
| learning to write and read in other languages, or just learning | |
| it to be able to communicate with other people who speak other | |
| languages. Regardless of the initial reason, most death wraiths | |
| know at least a few languages, and have an affinity for learning | |
| new languages due to having to learn multiple languages that | |
| they learn to pick up on other languages much more easily. | |
| - Supernatural Telepathy: This ability lets a supernatural | |
| creature communicate telepathically with anyone they can connect | |
| to. Typically this power uses their supernatural power, in which | |
| they use it to tune to a person if they know where they are in | |
| order to communicate with them. This lets them communicate with | |
| other people without having to speak, with them being able to | |
| share thoughts directly with others when the creature isn't | |
| speaking out loud. However, usually the creature has to know | |
| where the person is to use this basic telepathy since they have | |
| to know where to send their thoughts and communication. However, | |
| this doesn't apply to those who establish permanent connections | |
| (as this allows those with permanent connections to always be | |
| able to communicate with someone they have this permanent | |
| connection with), such as connecting to other family members and | |
| close friends. This lets creatures not only communicate with | |
| those they have a permanent connect with, but can also tell them | |
| where they are at any time should they require to find them or | |
| need to be summoned to them (which some supernaturals can learn | |
| to summon those that they have special connections with). Those | |
| who are set up with permanent connections have to accept the | |
| connection, and even then, they can sever it if they choose to. | |
| However, there are ways to block telepathic communications, such | |
| as certain frequencies that may confuse the mind's ability to | |
| process telepathy, or certain wards that might prevent | |
| telepathy. There are also certain types of opponents who can | |
| listen in on communication done telepathically (it is rare, but | |
| sometimes it does happen sometimes with certain psychic | |
| opponents). | |
| - Death Wraith Enhanced Intelligence/Memory: Depending on the | |
| death wraith, most death wraiths have enhanced minds thanks to | |
| their supernatural power. The first thing that is enhanced is | |
| their intelligence, in which some death wraiths gain certain | |
| intelligence boosts depending on the death wraith. This has a | |
| few uses, such as allowing a death wraith to more easily learn | |
| information, or might help death wraiths develop strategies for | |
| certain situations. Depending on the death wraith, some might | |
| gain stronger intelligence than others, and depending on the | |
| family or training they get, they may gain unique ways to | |
| utilize this (though this typically varies depending on the | |
| death wraiths born heritage and their capacities). The second | |
| enhancement is to the death wraith's memory, where death wraiths | |
| typically have very good memory thanks to their supernatural | |
| enhancement of the brain. Most death wraiths have a hard time | |
| forgetting things, and some smarter death wraiths may even have | |
| a photographic memory depending on the death wraith. Death | |
| wraiths usually have a balance of enhancements to intelligence, | |
| memory, and reflexes. Death wraiths usually have enhancements in | |
| most regards, but may suffer reduced stats in one aspect to | |
| balance their minds. For example, a death wraith that is focused | |
| in intelligence might have bad memory, or a death wraith with | |
| great reflexes and memory may not have high intelligence. | |
| Overall, each death wraith has a unique balance, that is usually | |
| determined by the family and the capabilities of the death | |
| wraith. Part of this also is determined by their training and | |
| the influences on their lives, such as combat training might | |
| enhance the reflexes of the body in combat, or a thorough | |
| education might increase intelligence. Overall, while death | |
| wraiths are smart and have good memory, they can be outclassed | |
| by other races, specifically humans who are known to be far | |
| smarter in order to compete with strong supernatural creatures. | |
| - Death Wraith Enhanced Reflexes: The last enhancement that | |
| death wraiths gain is the enhancement of their reflexes, which | |
| allows them to react much faster than most creatures can due to | |
| many death wraiths often having a major talent and end up | |
| training specifically for combat. Depending on the death wraith | |
| and the training some death wraiths are able to utilize their | |
| enhanced reflexes to react far more quickly, with older and more | |
| experienced death wraiths sometimes even learning to train their | |
| reflexes to allow them to dodge attacks without thinking, a | |
| highly advanced combat skill among supernaturals and even | |
| martial artists. Typically, all of these enhancements work in | |
| unison, and depending on the death wraith, the balance of | |
| enhancements may be different depending on the specific death | |
| wraith, and their natural abilities (such as smarter death | |
| wraiths might gain better intelligence, but more combat-based | |
| death wraiths could gain stronger reflexes). Death wraiths can | |
| not only gain this through supernatural enhancement, but combat | |
| oriented death wraiths gain further enhanced reflexes through | |
| training in combat. This ability is something that many death | |
| wraiths gain, with advanced death wraiths and higher level death | |
| wraiths being able to react to attacks almost instantly | |
| depending on their training. Typically, most death wraiths are | |
| either balanced with a slight increase to all their enhanced | |
| mind stats, or they can specialize in specific stats for higher | |
| stats, but this usually means lesser stats in certain other | |
| aspects as a result (Like an enhanced intelligence and reflexes | |
| might have poor memory). | |
| - Death Wraith Darkvision and Enhanced Senses: Death wraiths | |
| have highly enhanced vision, and gain highly enhanced ability to | |
| see in the dark. Death wraiths are able to see in the dark as | |
| easily as in the light thanks to their dark natures, and are | |
| able to operate even in complete darkness thanks to their | |
| supernatural vision they gain from being death wraiths. Some | |
| death wraiths may have varying degrees of this power, with some | |
| having stronger vision than others in the darkness and some can | |
| strengthen this vision over time and training, but all death | |
| wraiths have this to some degree. In addition to this though, | |
| death wraiths also have highly enhanced senses depending on the | |
| death wraith. Each death wraith may have a different balance of | |
| senses, but all of their senses are enhanced to some degree. | |
| This depends mostly on the death wraith, and partially on how | |
| they train their senses as they grow. Most death wraiths | |
| specialize in vision and hearing, with some even learning to see | |
| in total blinding conditions depending on the death wraith and | |
| what they can do. However, while most death wraiths do have | |
| highly enhanced senses, death wraiths enhanced senses can be | |
| overwhelmed by certain things, such as enhanced sight could be | |
| overwhelmed by a flashbang (which can work quite well against a | |
| death wraith), or a strong sense of smell could be overwhelmed | |
| with a strong enough smell such as chlorine gas. This depends on | |
| the death wraith and their senses, but most death wraiths can be | |
| overwhelmed in their senses in some way with almost all being | |
| vulnerable to flashbangs due to their darkvision and enhanced | |
| vision. Some that are more balanced in their senses may not be | |
| as easy to overwhelm, but they may not be able to keep up with | |
| certain enhanced senses as a result. Depending on the death | |
| wraith, some may even gain special senses that are unique to | |
| them if they are hybrids or have the power of other races, such | |
| as a werewolf/death wraith hybrid would have a werewolf sense of | |
| smell. | |
| - Death Wraith Presence Sense: Much like other supernaturals, | |
| death wraiths can sense the presence of other beings, and | |
| sensing who and what they are. This can sense not only one's | |
| presence, but their levels of energy and how tough they are, | |
| allowing the user to gauge how they stand against them, as well | |
| as often being able to tell what they are by their presence if | |
| the user recognizes what kind of presence it is. This is a | |
| passive skill that many supernaturals possess, including death | |
| wraiths. This skill works by using the mind's connection to the | |
| world around them, harnessing their connection to the world | |
| through this sense. Most consider this like a sixth sense, and | |
| some users of this can even use this to sense the presences of | |
| ghosts and other spiritual entities thanks to the ability to | |
| sense presences. This not only allows one to sense the presence | |
| of someone, but this allows one to sense energy as a whole as | |
| well, making it a way to overall get a picture of the energy | |
| around them and can identify living things based on their | |
| presence and energy. However, this can be deceived by skilled | |
| opponents, sometimes not appearing correctly if the user can't | |
| sense the opponent's full power or use powers that fool this | |
| sense like how ki users can suppress their power. There are also | |
| skills that hide one's presence, whether fully or partially | |
| which can also be used to deceive this kind of sense. Most death | |
| wraiths are able to use this to sense not just what's around | |
| them, but they are able to use this ability to sense what's | |
| going on around the world through the shadows, and when big | |
| presences appear, like Lucifer, or higher level angels and | |
| demons due to their connection to the primordial realms | |
| (specifically the primordial darkness). | |
| - Death Wraith Emotional Manipulation: One of the biggest laws | |
| of death wraith culture is the controlling of one's emotions, | |
| which all death wraiths have to learn. And in doing so, they | |
| suppress their emotions, with most using cold logic instead of | |
| emotions so that emotions will not hinder their ability to | |
| combat enemies, or fall under the influence of things like dark | |
| spirits, which is usually a big danger for them. For the most | |
| part, death wraiths can feel emotions, but are taught to | |
| suppress them in order to not only help with controlling | |
| themselves, but also to help their stealth since not having | |
| emotions can hide them from certain opponents that can sense | |
| emotions or killing intent. This emotional manipulation is the | |
| main method death wraiths use to keep themselves from having to | |
| worry about their emotions, and use this to always keep their | |
| emotions suppressed, as they see emotions as "corruptive" | |
| influences due to their long history of dark spirits using | |
| emotions against them. The only time that death wraiths are | |
| allowed emotions are typically under special circumstances, such | |
| as choosing mates, which even then many death wraith choose | |
| mates through logic rather than emotion. This can be a danger to | |
| death wraiths though, since they not only don't deal with | |
| emotions, they rarely allow powers that rely on emotions due to | |
| the death wraiths viewing emotions as corruptive. However, there | |
| are powers that are designed to help more emotional death | |
| wraiths learn to harness their emotions, so death wraiths do | |
| have plenty of options for learning different ways of | |
| controlling their emotions. This can be overwhelmed by those | |
| like Xeles though, or stronger psychic abilities might be able | |
| to overpower this as well depending on the abilities. The | |
| strength of this skill depends on the strength of the death | |
| wraith's will, which determines how strong this training can be. | |
| - Nightfire Art: Controlled Mind: Since the Nightfires require | |
| focus in order to use their abilities and the death wraith | |
| emotional states, the Nightfires modified the Darkfire | |
| Disciplined Mind art and combined it with the death wraith self | |
| control art. Eventually this turned into a whole art unto itself | |
| and proved to have uses outside of just helping a Nightfire | |
| focus. This art lets the Darkfire take complete control of the | |
| world in their mind, shaping it to their own devices and letting | |
| the user control their mind through mental focus. Each inner | |
| world is different, and solely depends on the one with this art. | |
| This not only lets the users control their minds, but allows | |
| them to become immune to mind control or other attempts to | |
| influence their mind due to the Nightfires focus being able to | |
| detect and counter attempts to influence their mind (which | |
| resulted as an accident of this training). This also lets them | |
| enter into the inner worlds of others, and more advanced users | |
| can slightly influence those who's minds they enter. However, it | |
| is worth noting that going into other's minds is mostly as a | |
| method of training, and Nightfires don't have too much use to go | |
| into other people's minds outside of training as they aren't too | |
| skilled in controlling other people's minds, since every mind is | |
| different and requires different approaches, and their | |
| disciplined mind training is more focused on them learning to | |
| control their own minds. And by controlling their minds, the | |
| user can do things like shut down certain parts of their mind | |
| should the need to, or manipulate their emotions at will once | |
| they learn to focus and control their inner world. For the most | |
| part, shutting down parts of their mind only helps against | |
| opponents with psychic powers, such as shutting down their sense | |
| of pain when an opponent uses a psychic power to overwhelm their | |
| pain receptors. However, doing so could have negative | |
| consequences depending on what they're shutting down, such as | |
| shutting down pain can lead to more damage to the body if the | |
| users can't process pain to know how damaged their body is. This | |
| training is more about mental focus than anything, so users | |
| should keep in mind that use this to help focus one's mind is | |
| the primary meaning of learning this training. The Nightfires | |
| utilize this to not only control their power, but many of the | |
| men in the family also use this in conjunction with the self | |
| control training to more easily control their emotions. | |
| - Nightfire Controlled Mind Ability: Fool Senses: This is an | |
| accidental use of the Disciplined Mind training that has been | |
| put to use over the years. By controlling the mind and the | |
| subconscious, a user of Disciplined mind is able to suppress the | |
| aspects of themselves that show when they are lying. For those | |
| that read aura and body language, a user of the Disciplined Mind | |
| art will always seem like they are telling the truth, due to the | |
| fact that the users of this suppress the usual subconscious | |
| signs of lying. For example, those that lie may do things | |
| unconsciously like bite their nails, or they might turn their | |
| heads away. Normally, these are subconscious reactions someone | |
| does when they lie. For those with this training though, | |
| disciplined mind users instinctively suppress those instincts | |
| due to them completely controlling their conscious and mostly | |
| controlling their unconscious mind to prevent unwanted | |
| unconscious reactions. Those that use this always seem like they | |
| are telling the truth, and even advanced mind readers cannot | |
| tell when a user of this is lying due to the fact that the mind | |
| is controlled by the user and the usual signs of lying are not | |
| there. While a user can still lie, their lies and truths don't | |
| show any different even among those that are the best at reading | |
| personalities and reading emotions. This is a bit difficult to | |
| master, as it takes more than just suppressing certain parts of | |
| the mind since a user has to not only learn how to suppress | |
| reactions and suppress hormonal responses, but learn what | |
| reactions specifically they give off when they lie and suppress | |
| them. Since each person has different reactions when they lie, | |
| the users have to learn those reactions unique to their own | |
| selves. For the most part, while this may seem very useful, most | |
| have learned by this point that the Nightfires can do this, so | |
| most people don't even try to tell if the Nightfires are lying | |
| since they can just fool senses with this. For the most part, | |
| this is only really useful in certain situations, and usually | |
| only useful if the person the user is trying to fool doesn't | |
| know they are a Nightfire or trained in this art. | |
| - Enhanced Death Wraith and Combat Training Physical Stats: All | |
| death wraiths have enhanced physical stats, thanks to their | |
| supernatural natures. However, death wraiths also have enhanced | |
| combat training which hones their physical stats to their | |
| fullest. All death wraiths have to be trained in combat, whether | |
| its as a lost soul collector or as a dark spirit hunter. For the | |
| most part, all death wraiths are unique in their specific | |
| training and capabilities, usually specializing in certain | |
| stats. For example, some stronger and more bulky death wraiths | |
| might focus more on strength and defense, while smaller and | |
| skinnier death wraiths may focus more on speed and agility. | |
| There are a number of ways training can hone death wraiths, just | |
| like humans and other supernaturals, so just like humans and | |
| other supernaturals, each death wraith is different in how they | |
| fight and how they use their enhanced physical stats. There are | |
| usually two ways most beings train their physical stats. The | |
| first is to focus on one or two aspects, which focuses them to | |
| extreme degrees. The downside to this training focus is that | |
| while their focused aspects are trained to great degrees, this | |
| causes other stats to suffer as a result. For example, someone | |
| who focuses on strength and defense won't be as fast or as agile | |
| as someone who specializes in speed. The other focus is a | |
| balanced skillset, where users focus on training all aspects of | |
| their physical stats to a fairly balanced degree. In this | |
| method, all stats are focused on in training, and the user opts | |
| to hone all aspects of their combat stats to gain enhanced stats | |
| in all of their physical stats. However, the downside to this | |
| training is that those that utilize this are balanced, but won't | |
| be able to enhance all their stats to the levels of those that | |
| specialize in specific stats. While some balanced fighters can | |
| keep up with those that specialize in stats through training, | |
| typically those that specialize in stats might overwhelm | |
| specific stats (though smart users can utilize weaknesses in | |
| specialized stats to counter this to a degree). No matter how | |
| the death wraith is trained, there are advantages and | |
| disadvantages to their stats. It is usually up to the death | |
| wraith how they train and what they focus on, and depending on | |
| age, some death wraiths can learn to better hone their stats | |
| more effectively through things like using objects to help them | |
| (such as those not as strong might use gauntlets to help give | |
| their attacks more impact). For Kinei, he has his family's | |
| training, and is a speed/agility based fighter. Kinei is a very | |
| skilled fighter, and is able to use his family's stealth combat | |
| movement to its fullest. When fighting Kinei, the biggest threat | |
| is not what he can do, it's how silently and quickly he can do | |
| it. Kinei is the type of person who has a fairly balanced | |
| fighting style, designed to take on most opponents even if his | |
| main focus is in movement, speed and agility. | |
| Transformations: | |
| - Human Form: Every death wraith can take a human form when in | |
| the living world. Death wraiths learn to change forms into | |
| humans so that they can live as humans while in the human world, | |
| even being able to survive on human food. For the most part, | |
| this human form looks and feels just like a normal human, except | |
| for the soul of the death wraith who senses as a being of pure | |
| darkness. Death wraith's shadow abilities still work, but are | |
| used in a reduced capacity. When in human form, death wraiths | |
| can reduce damage from light attacks (as their bodies aren't | |
| pure darkness when in human form that can be pierced with light | |
| attacks), and death wraiths can utilize human abilities more | |
| easily when in human form (Like some that utilize human energies | |
| like ki or mana). While their death wraith abilities do get a | |
| little weaker, it is usually the form most death wraiths stay in | |
| for their day to day activities outside of battle, and a form | |
| they usually prefer to train in since the weaker form can give | |
| them bigger gains when they are training. Just like the death | |
| wraiths, every form is unique to the death wraith, and aside | |
| from the times they may need their death wraith form to utilize | |
| stronger darkness abilities, most death wraiths spend most of | |
| their time in human form. Overall, when in this form, death | |
| wraith darkness abilities are weakened, but death wraiths can | |
| more easily utilize their human abilities, as well as them not | |
| being as vulnerable to light (at least not anymore than any | |
| other human would be). Death wraiths in human form are not only | |
| less vulnerable to light and counters to darkness abilities | |
| (since their bodies are like those of mortals), but they also | |
| are physical in nature. While they still regenerate using | |
| darkness and are still darkness natured, their human forms are | |
| as solid and tangible as other humans compared to their death | |
| wraith forms which are usually more intangible than normal | |
| beings since they are spiritual in nature. However, this also | |
| means that death wraiths are more vulnerable to physical attacks | |
| when in human form, whereas their death wraith forms are harder | |
| to permanent damage with physical attacks and often require | |
| spiritual attacks to harm them. | |
| - Death Wraith Form: It would be more appropriate to call this a | |
| death wraith's true form, which is usually only used in battle | |
| when death wraiths need stronger shadows or require a power | |
| boost to take on an opponent. Death wraith forms usually are | |
| described as a pure black form, with glowing rings around the | |
| fingers, and glowing pupils that radiates darkness and death | |
| energy. This form is stronger and has enhanced abilities | |
| compared to the death wraith's human form. Depending on their | |
| abilities, this form might take on unique properties, such as a | |
| death wraith with demonic abilities may have red glowing rings | |
| around their fingers instead of blue, or some might have unique | |
| darkness that radiates from them (such as death wraiths with | |
| demonic power might radiate unholy darkness instead of normal | |
| darkness). When in this form, any limits on the death wraith | |
| placed that holds back their mortal form are released, and the | |
| death wraith can use their full abilities. While there isn't | |
| much of a power difference between a death wraith form and a | |
| human form, the death wraith form is still stronger since the | |
| death wraith doesn't have any limits on their death wraith form | |
| (unless Toranoraos or the Death Wraith council place limits on a | |
| death wraith's power if they have abilities that could be | |
| dangerous to the death wraiths or to the living world). When in | |
| this form, a death wraith may have some trouble using human | |
| abilities (Example, magic might be hindered if the mana changes | |
| nature when the death wraith goes into death wraith form). Most | |
| death wraiths learn ways to counter this, but some powers may | |
| not be as strong. However, their darkness abilities are at their | |
| strongest when in this form, as this form is meant to rely on | |
| darkness as a whole. It is also worth noting that death wraiths | |
| in this form are immune to almost all darkness and deathly | |
| effects. The only darkness that can hurt a death wraith while in | |
| this form is Xeles's darkness, or elementals from the Dark | |
| Multiverse that are darkness in nature that have chaotic | |
| elements that death wraiths cannot adapt to. It is also worth | |
| noting that death wraiths are far more vulnerable to light | |
| attacks when in this form (or any other counters to darkness), | |
| and flashbangs do heavy damage to death wraiths when they are in | |
| death wraith form as they are pure darkness (with certain | |
| exceptions). Spiritual attacks also work more easily on death | |
| wraith forms, as death wraith forms are more spiritual in nature | |
| so abilities that hurt the intangible works better for attacking | |
| death wraiths. | |
| - Nightfire Death Wraith Release: Reap, Kazekira (Shadow | |
| Killer): While the Nightfires may not have the same vampire | |
| abilities that the Darkfires do, they did manage to create their | |
| own power to release their full power into their death wraith | |
| form. When the Nightfires started using the Darkfire abilities, | |
| they came to learn of certain awakening abilities using their | |
| power that can be tailored to their death wraith form instead of | |
| a vampire form. By focusing inward and defeating their inner | |
| selves, a Nightfire can gain the power of an awakened state that | |
| can power them up for a certain amount of time when in their | |
| death wraith form. When the Nightfires want to learn this, they | |
| go into their minds as deep as they can go to draw on their | |
| subconscious. When they do, they must face the sides of | |
| themselves that inhabit the parts of them that they try to | |
| suppress. For example, a Nightfire that is overly angry and | |
| hateful but suppresses that anger may have to face this anger | |
| they suppress in order to defeat their inner self. This is | |
| different for every Nightfire, as each situation ends up being | |
| unique since each person's personality is different. When | |
| defeated though, the Nightfire gains a unique ability to go into | |
| their awakened form with a release command they learn after | |
| beating their inner selves. Each release form is unique to the | |
| Nightfire, usually reflecting some aspect of them when released. | |
| With this form, not only does the Nightfire take an enhanced | |
| death wraith form, but they typically gain some unique abilities | |
| when in this form. The abilities and forms are always unique to | |
| each Nightfire, and can take a variety of forms. In this form, | |
| the Nightfire has enhanced physical stats that can keep up with | |
| most supernaturals who have transformed states, and can use this | |
| as long as they have the power to maintain the form. However, | |
| with each form, there may come additional weaknesses in addition | |
| to additional strengths. For example, some abilities may add | |
| additional weaknesses. This form can also only last for so long, | |
| as staying in this burns a Nightfire's energy quickly, and they | |
| will lose access to this form once they burn off all their | |
| energy. The amount of time a Nightfire can stay in this form | |
| varies from person to person, but there is always a limit. And | |
| if an opponent uses intense light, like a flashbang, they even | |
| may be able to force a Nightfire out of this form. For Kinei, he | |
| takes an asassin-like form, where he becomes with twin shadow | |
| blades that are able to work almost like death scythes in that | |
| they can kill almost anything if they strike the heart or brain | |
| regardless of regeneration abilities. Kinei takes this form and | |
| gains not only the twin blades, but also gains enhanced | |
| movement. In this form, Kinei also has a cloak that appears that | |
| can be used to dampen blows and block attacks. When in this | |
| form, Kinei can also shadow teleport at will, with no energy | |
| loss (which allows him to get around more easily). However, like | |
| any of the released forms, this doesn't last too long, and Kinei | |
| can only keep this form going as long as he has energy. On top | |
| of that, he doesn't gain a whole lot of abilities other than his | |
| shadow blades, and his shadow cloak being a good defense (but he | |
| does still have enhanced physical stats like any released form.) | |
| Death Wraith Weaknesses: | |
| - Death wraiths pride themselves on using cold logic rather than | |
| relying on emotions. There are a number of fairly good reasons | |
| for this. The first is that they see emotions as corruptive, as | |
| emotions can interrupt their focus and cause them to act | |
| irrationally (or at least, death wraiths see it as irrational | |
| behavior even when it might not always be). The second is that | |
| many dark spirits affect emotions, and in order to compete with | |
| dark spirits, death wraiths have to be in perfect control so | |
| that they don't fall under the influence of dark spirits. If a | |
| death wraith doesn't control their emotions, it becomes easier | |
| for certain corruptions to affect them, such as some death | |
| wraiths that have gained hollow power from not controlling their | |
| emotions completely. This is a major training among death | |
| wraiths, and those that cannot control their emotions may become | |
| unbalanced, and may be susceptible to certain abilities as a | |
| result. Due to the jobs the death wraiths do, they must make | |
| difficult choices, which they do through cold logic rather than | |
| letting emotions control their decisions. Death wraiths that | |
| rely too much on emotions could find themselves exiled if they | |
| refuse to gain control of their emotions, as death wraiths | |
| cannot do their jobs with emotions. While there are many who do | |
| embrace the concept of emotions and the power it could bring the | |
| death wraiths, those people are often seen as corruptive | |
| influences on the death wraiths. Overall, opponents can take | |
| advantage of this, if they can get a death wraith to not control | |
| their emotions. This can grant an opponent an edge if the death | |
| wraith loses control of their emotions, and can have severe | |
| consequences if a death wraith succumbs to the influence of | |
| hollowfication or dark spirits as a result. For the Nightfires, | |
| they must doubly control themselves, due to their shadow | |
| elementals requiring a natural focus that they must train. This | |
| means that the Nightfires have an even more important need to | |
| train and control their emotions. | |
| - Most lost souls and dark spirits have abilities that are | |
| specifically designed to counter death wraiths. Lost souls know | |
| that death wraiths will hunt them down, so in order to avoid | |
| capture, they will often have to come up with ways to counter | |
| death wraith's abilities. Lost souls can learn certain abilities | |
| that can counter death wraiths, utilizing their spiritual | |
| natures, though most lost souls will focus on countering their | |
| deathly and darkness based natures. Dark spirits, on the other | |
| hand, are the anti-thesis of death wraiths, so dark spirits have | |
| specific abilities that are designed to take on death wraiths, | |
| like their whispering darkness, and many who summon elementals | |
| from the dark multiverse to counter death wraith elementals. | |
| Dark spirits and lost souls, while death wraiths have many ways | |
| to counter them, also have many ways to counter death wraiths. | |
| The major danger with lost souls and dark spirits though is that | |
| they may also be able to possess humans, which can catch death | |
| wraiths off guard if the death wraiths don't sense the dark | |
| spirit or lost souls (presence suppression is something many | |
| dark spirits specifically use to avoid death wraiths, though | |
| lost souls can also learn presence suppression when possessing | |
| humans as well with enough practice of their ghostly abilities). | |
| Overall, dark spirits and lost souls, once they reach a certain | |
| level, become too much for normal death wraiths to handle, and | |
| often require more elite teams to handle. These beings are the | |
| two main beings that most death wraiths have to deal with. | |
| - When in human form, most death wraiths are vulnerable to | |
| things humans would be vulnerable to since their bodies are | |
| almost perfect replicas of humans. This means that human form | |
| death wraiths can be affected by toxins and gases that would | |
| work on humans, such as gases toxic to humans or gases that | |
| could cause reactions to humans (like some that irritate the | |
| skin upon contact). For the most part, death wraiths can | |
| regenerate most damage in their human bodies as long as they can | |
| absorb darkness to regenerate (which still works in human form), | |
| but they can still take damage like normal physical beings. For | |
| example, stabbing the heart or brain could fatally injure the | |
| death wraith, and they can die just like any other fatally | |
| injured being if their regeneration is interrupted or doesn't | |
| work. While death wraith forms are not quite so easy to kill due | |
| to the fact they are more spiritual, their physical bodies can | |
| be killed more easily. If they die in their physical bodies, | |
| they will die, which makes their physical forms a bit easier to | |
| kill than their death wraith forms. This means that death wraith | |
| form is better against opponents fighting using means that do | |
| physical damage, while their human form is more vulnerable to | |
| physical damage. However, this also works in reverse, where | |
| spiritual damage doesn't do as much to a death wraith in human | |
| form, but does more damage when in death wraith form. Overall, | |
| destroying their physical bodies is a good way to kill a death | |
| wraith, though most death wraiths would go into death wraith | |
| form before they let themselves be killed as their death wraith | |
| forms are spiritual and don't respond as much to physical | |
| damage. However, if affected by certain things like iron or | |
| blessed sea salt, death wraiths could be forced to remain in | |
| human form, which is also a problem for them. For the most part, | |
| relying on their regeneration is vital for their survival in | |
| human form, since they can die just like any other being. | |
| - Blessed sea salt is one of the death wraiths' two biggest | |
| weaknesses. All death wraiths are highly allergic blessed sea | |
| salt, which can cause a wide variety of problems like | |
| anaphylaxis/anaphylactic shock, breathing problems, or even lead | |
| to death. This substances also interrupts their regeneration | |
| completely, making them unable to regenerate unless they go into | |
| the shadows. The only real way to overcome the effects of | |
| blessed sea salt is for a death wraith to retreat into the | |
| shadows, and let the regenerative properties shadows have on | |
| them overcome it, which can be a painful process, or bleed the | |
| sea salt out of their system if it is in their blood. Weapons | |
| using blessed sea salt can do extra damage as well, and weapons | |
| coated in this can possibly cause blood infections if the | |
| blessed sea salt manages to get into their blood stream. Smoke | |
| grenades using blessed sea salt are also very effective if the | |
| opponent can get a death wraith to breathe in the smoke as used | |
| by some death wraith enemies in the past, as well as mixing it | |
| into water can make a special salt water mix that works on death | |
| wraiths like holy water works on demons and unholy creatures. | |
| This is one of the biggest weaknesses among death wraiths, and | |
| if this gets into their systems, it can cause immense problems | |
| for the death wraith. While death wraiths can get this out of | |
| their system, it is a very painful process that comes with some | |
| health problems. This is one of the most common ways to kill a | |
| death wraith, and one of the most known ways. Users of this can | |
| also create burning oil and mix blessed sea salt into it for a | |
| Molotov cocktail that can light death wraiths on fire and do | |
| severe damage to them. Usually, enemies of death wraiths will | |
| find ways to get a hold of this and utilize it in some way, and | |
| there are plenty of ways to utilize blessed sea salt compared to | |
| some of their other weaknesses. Blessed sea salt is a very | |
| versatile substances that can be used a variety of ways, making | |
| it even more dangerous to death wraiths if users find new and | |
| subtle ways to utilize it. | |
| - Iron and ghost-fighting weapons are the second of the death | |
| wraith's biggest weaknesses, due to being spiritual beings that | |
| have some similar weaknesses to ghosts. Iron is harder to put | |
| into a gas or liquid, but weapons using iron do extra damage to | |
| death wraiths, which can help many who want to fight death | |
| wraiths since iron can easily be forged into a weapon, and many | |
| can find iron pretty easily. While not as deadly as blessed sea | |
| salt, iron is a natural counter to ghost abilities, and does | |
| damage to death wraiths as a result. Iron can burn their bodies, | |
| enough that it can make a death wraith easier to damage. when in | |
| human form, they gain some resistance to iron since their human | |
| bodies have some iron in them, but overall, when in death wraith | |
| form, iron does far more damage to them as intangible spirits. | |
| Any weapon designed to fight ghosts or ghost-like creatures also | |
| does extra damage to them. This includes other soul weapons used | |
| by other races, like the zanpakutos of soul reapers and the | |
| death scythes of the grim reapers. Iron can be used to poison | |
| death wraiths as well if the iron gets into their blood, which | |
| is harder for a death wraith to get out of their bodies. | |
| However, if they do get iron in their bodies (usually in | |
| unusually high levels of their blood), then going into human | |
| form and remaining in human form until they can get the iron out | |
| of their bodies can help them recover from iron effects since | |
| their human forms are physical forms that don't take nearly as | |
| much damage as full death wraith forms would normally. For the | |
| most part, iron burns death wraith bodies on contact, and when | |
| they are in death wraith form or darkness form, they can be | |
| temporarily dispelled and unable to maintain a form (sometimes | |
| being forced back into physical form). Iron weapons work best on | |
| death wraiths who take their full death wraith forms, but can do | |
| damage to death wraiths in human form in higher quantities or | |
| higher quality (such as more potent iron can do more damage to a | |
| human form death wraith. Iron is something that hurts most | |
| spirits, and is pretty reliable against death wraiths. | |
| - Light and life energies are also a good counter to a death | |
| wraith, since they are creatures of darkness and death as light | |
| and life energies are natural counters to death and darkness | |
| abilities. Life energy is a natural counter to the death aspects | |
| of their power, while light works to counter their darkness | |
| (though experienced enough users can counter either of a death | |
| wraith's abilities with light or life energy if they are skilled | |
| enough). Items like flashbangs or concentrated light can | |
| overpower many forms of darkness or shadows especially those | |
| used by death wraiths. Death wraiths take heavy damage if they | |
| are hit by concentrated light attacks (especially if they are in | |
| their death wraith form), and their shadows can be dispelled and | |
| negated temporarily thanks to light abilities like flashbangs. | |
| Life energies can do more damage to them as well, due to their | |
| death aspects, which makes life energy a good way to | |
| specifically counter their deathly aspects. Weapons using life | |
| and/or light do more damage, and can more easily cut or pierce a | |
| death wraith's body. Typically, spirits are the ones that | |
| utilize light and life energy, which can act as a counter to | |
| death wraiths if they choose to oppose death wraiths (though | |
| this is typically rare). Some beings who can use light or life | |
| energies can use these pretty effectively, since death wraiths | |
| rely heavily on their darkness and deathly natures. It is worth | |
| noting that as mentioned, death wraiths in death wraith form | |
| take far more damage from light attacks than they normally | |
| would, since their very bodies are made of darkness. However, | |
| when in human form, they are about as vulnerable to light powers | |
| as any other beings (for example, normal light doesn't hurt | |
| them, but light focused into beams could pierce them just as | |
| easily as any other being). | |
| - All death wraith elementals are counter-able by other | |
| elementals. One needs to understand death wraith elementals | |
| first though, as their elementals do work differently than other | |
| races elemental manipulations. Unlike other races, death wraiths | |
| focus more on manipulating the four states of matter, and this | |
| must be understood before one can learn to counter a death | |
| wraith. However, once understood, death wraith elementals can be | |
| countered just like other elementals. For example, solid | |
| manipulation is mostly earth manipulation, as solid states of | |
| matter mostly fall into earth manipulation are countered as such | |
| (usually by wind manipulation and sometimes fire manipulation). | |
| Every form of matter can counter another in some form if the | |
| user is creative enough, and all of the states of matter can be | |
| countered by other elementals. Usually, the two major groups are | |
| solids and gases (which act as major opposites to each other), | |
| and liquids and plasma (which act as major opposites to each | |
| other). However, countering isn't as difficult as requiring | |
| specific elements, as each element can counter another in some | |
| way. For example, earth can absorb energy from plasma | |
| manipulation, or liquid manipulation could be separated by | |
| wind/air manipulation into gases. Countering these elemental | |
| powers only requires one to understand how elemental powers | |
| interact, and figure out ways to counter them. Almost every | |
| element can counter another in some way, and death wraith | |
| elementals are no different. As mentioned earlier, another major | |
| counter to the death wraith elemental power is the dark spirits | |
| who utilize matter from the dark multiverse, who utilize a | |
| chaotic power of elements that counter the elementals of this | |
| universe. Because many of the dark spirits elementals have | |
| violent reactions to the elements of the living world (such as | |
| shadow lightning from the dark multiverse having a chaotic | |
| effect that spirals normal lightning out of control and | |
| interrupts the normal uses of lightning as the lightning becomes | |
| chaotic and its destructive properties are amplified to the | |
| degree that the user can no longer control it). However, it is | |
| worth noting that death wraiths do counter this with their own | |
| elemental manipulation. | |
| Nightfire Weaknesses: | |
| - The Nightfires specifically have a major weakness to light | |
| abilities, and can be more easily countered by light abilities. | |
| Unlike the Darkfires who have some ability to use their elements | |
| even in the face of counter elements, the Nightfires can | |
| actually have their shadow elementals negated completely by | |
| intense light, where intense light, such as those from | |
| flashbangs, can negate the Nightfire's shadow control completely | |
| while the intense light is negating shadow manipulation. In | |
| addition, even a Nightfire's released form can be taken out by | |
| intense light. Unlike the Darkfires who are weaker to counter | |
| elements, all Nightfires have the same weakness to light no | |
| matter what elements they use (as there has been no record of | |
| any Nightfires that possess light abilities). As such, the | |
| Nightfires have to be careful because intense light can nullify | |
| one of their greatest advantages. While counter elements can | |
| help, the best thing one can do is just get a flashbang grenade | |
| and use it on a Nightfire if they encounter one. If the | |
| Nightfire is in a released form, they must either return to | |
| normal or they will take heavy damage from intense light, which | |
| limits when they can use their released form and against which | |
| opponents it might be effective. While the Nightfires are able | |
| to utilize their shadow elementals more easily and have more of | |
| a variety of effects, the Nightfires are also more easily | |
| countered since flashbangs are easy enough to get a hold of even | |
| if one doesn't have light powers. In addition, there are certain | |
| defenses against Nightfire shadow elementals, where things like | |
| energy defense and other forms of defense against darkness power | |
| can also be used. For example, using dark lightning may use | |
| darkness as a conductor, but one can protect themselves with an | |
| energy other than darkness to prevent the darkness in contact | |
| with their body from being used as a conductor. For the most | |
| part, there are plenty of other counters as well, but most of | |
| the Nightfires have the same weaknesses as any other death | |
| wraith, with light being the biggest weakness the clan has | |
| specifically. | |
| - The Nightfires are death wraiths, and while they specialize in | |
| regeneration, they can still be killed like any other death | |
| wraith. Most Nightfires cannot regenerate beyond a certain | |
| point, and fatally injuring a Nightfire can kill a Nightfire if | |
| they don't regenerate the damage fast enough (assuming they can | |
| regenerate). Most Nightfires can regenerate lost limbs, but | |
| losing vital organs is usually dangerous. While they are skilled | |
| warriors and trained to take on supernaturals and other threats, | |
| the Nightfires can still be beaten in battle and killed just | |
| like any being can. Nightfires have the same weaknesses as any | |
| death wraith,a nd can be killed like any death wraith. | |
| Nightfires are also vulnerable to certain materials like | |
| varanium and stilled silver which can negate regeneration or | |
| powers depending on what's used. When used, these metals have | |
| the same effects on the Nightfires that they do on most others. | |
| While the Nightfires are death wraiths and are skilled warriors, | |
| they do have supernatural abilities that can be negated which | |
| can still a problem for them. Over the years, there have also | |
| been other methods that have been developed, such as at one | |
| point there was anti-elemental metal made called uridium which | |
| was designed to combat elemental manipulation abilities (and | |
| works on death wraith shadow elementals), or alternates to | |
| varanium that were used to counter regeneration. And of course, | |
| as one might guess, other supernatural or mechanical powers out | |
| there may be able to overpower the Nightfire's abilities, | |
| depending on the opponent that the Darkfire is facing. | |
| - For the Nightfires, it cannot be stated just how much they | |
| depend on mental training and fortitude in order to learn to use | |
| their power. No matter the shadow element or the base power, | |
| there is always a certain degree of focus and concentration. For | |
| the Nightfires, the reason they developed use the Disciplined | |
| Mind training was not to become immune to attacks on the mind | |
| (as that aspect became an extra use of the power later), but to | |
| learn to focus their minds in order to utilize their powers, and | |
| learn to control their emotions more effectively. Without this | |
| level of focus, the Nightfires would not be able to use their | |
| elemental powers. As an example, many Nightfires utilize burning | |
| darkness as one of their elements since it seems to be an | |
| inherited element among most Darkfires. However, without proper | |
| focus and concentration training, the Darkfire could end up | |
| being unable to control their burning darkness powers and that | |
| could result in their power not working properly. At best, they | |
| wouldn't be able to summon the burning darkness, or at worst, | |
| their attempts at using it would literally explode in their | |
| face. However, it isn't just about controlling their powers, but | |
| the fact that most Nightfires walk a thin line between what | |
| would be considered good, anti-hero or evil status. Depending on | |
| the Nightfire, many walk certain lines that they must always | |
| remain in control of their own minds and set certain limits they | |
| cannot cross in order to keep them grounded. It is not about | |
| moral high ground, and is more about keeping the Nightfire from | |
| doing things that will twist them and keep them from becoming | |
| corrupted by their own power. Those that do cross those lines | |
| are usually called out, and the Nightfires may take action | |
| against such cases. | |
| - Another major weakness to the Nightfire's, like the | |
| Darkfire's, is trauma. Trauma is a problem that usually happens | |
| to Nightfires who suffer a major psychological event, or | |
| sometimes even a physical one. If a Nightfire is traumatized by | |
| something, this can have adverse effects on their power. The | |
| biggest power that is affected by trauma is a Nightfire's | |
| regeneration. If a Nightfire is injured and the trauma is not | |
| overcome, many Nightfires don't regenerate the injury from that | |
| trauma, such as one Nightfire who walked with a cane after a | |
| trauma because their leg wouldn't heal properly. The trauma can | |
| also have other effects if a Nightfire tries to use their power, | |
| including elemental powers not functioning properly, or certain | |
| abilities not working properly, such as one Nightfire who tried | |
| to create elemental familiars and the Nightfire's strong regret | |
| and guilt was theorized to make his own elemental familiars turn | |
| on him to the point where the familiars attacked and nearly | |
| killed him. Most Nightfires know how dangerous trauma can be, | |
| after seeing what trauma has done to many older Darkfires and | |
| Nightfires (both families have seen what trauma does to the | |
| families and their power). Typically, regeneration is the power | |
| that is mostly affected, with the trauma causing injuries to not | |
| heal properly. The only way to overcome this weakness is for the | |
| Nightfire to overcome their trauma, whether it's psychological | |
| or physical. For example, a Darkfire who was mentally scared | |
| after nearly being killed by a werewolf eventually overcame | |
| their fear of werewolves and would go to regain their power, and | |
| save their family from a pack of werewolves attacking them (The | |
| process might work the same way for the Nightfires). Overcoming | |
| the trauma that caused the problem is the only way to overcome | |
| this particular weakness, and overcoming that trauma not only | |
| helps the Nightfire regain their power, but some have even | |
| gained greater power when overcoming trauma. But those that do | |
| have trauma are usually limited in what they can do until they | |
| overcome that trauma, so Nightfires who do have trauma are | |
| usually kept out of battle if it can be helped. | |
| Personality: Kinei is a pretty light-hearted person, who doesn't | |
| take much seriously. While he does control his emotions, he | |
| typically doesn't suppress his more cheerful personality. | |
| However, it's not about humor, but more about his sarcasm that | |
| he has. He likes to sarcastically joke around, and doesn't | |
| usually hesitate to make a sarcastic joke. In addition, Kinei is | |
| also a very prideful person, and takes a lot of pride in himself | |
| and in his family's abilities. Kinei will not hesitate to miss a | |
| chance to show his pride, and his pride is also very important | |
| to him as a Nightfire, a great lost soul hunter, and as an | |
| assassin. Kinei also has a more serious side, in that when he | |
| goes into "assassin mode" and goes on a mission, he goes into a | |
| serious mode where he will not hesitate to kill an enemy. | |
| Typically, this assassin mode is only when he's out to kill | |
| someone, but it is something worth mentioning. Kinei is someone | |
| who can switch from sarcastically lovable to dark and murderous | |
| in an instant if the situation calls for it. Kinei has learned | |
| to control his emotions, and while he doesn't really control his | |
| emotions to the same extent as other death wraiths, he does | |
| control his emotions enough that he keeps emotions like anger | |
| and hatred from overcoming him. Kinei also seems to have a | |
| particular crush on Anna Shadow, and has for a long time | |
| (something he has not been shy about expressing). If Anna is | |
| around, Kinei won't hesitate to express himself to her, and will | |
| do whatever he can to defend her, even if it means possibly | |
| trying to bypass Kierran to do so. Unlike what others say, Kinei | |
| doesn't really have a flirty personality, and only seems to care | |
| about flirting when it comes to being around Anna. The | |
| Nightfires are very similar to the Darkfires, in that those who | |
| attack Kinei's friends are essentially naming Kinei an enemy (as | |
| he will kill people who are out to kill his friends without any | |
| hesitation). | |
| In battle, Kinei is a very ruthless and efficient fighter, who | |
| will not hesitate to take on an opponent. Kinei is someone who | |
| will seek to overpower an enemy by any means necessary, even if | |
| it means using poison to do so. While Kinei doesn't like doing | |
| dishonorable things in battle, he won't hesitate to do whatever | |
| he has to in order to protect what he cares about, even if it | |
| means crossing lines his friends wouldn't want him to cross. | |
| Kinei is someone who will do whatever it takes, and while he | |
| does fight strategically, he most often seeks to overpower his | |
| enemies. Kinei's use of poison is often his trump card, where he | |
| will attempt to cut someone with a poison knife, or utilize | |
| poison darts against enemies. Kinei is very careful in battle to | |
| avoid his allies though, and while he is ruthless enough to do | |
| almost anything to kill his enemies, he doesn't risk his friends | |
| lives if faced with the choice. Kinei is usually very serious in | |
| battle, and doesn't make a lot of jokes when he goes into what | |
| his friends call "Assassin mode" (which is when he gets serious | |
| and focuses on killing an enemy). When he gets into his | |
| assassin mode, he tries to shut down his emotions completely and | |
| focus only in pure logic (which does and doesn't work depending | |
| on the situation). The only thing that often interrupts Kinei's | |
| concentration in battle is if his friends are being threatened. | |
| Of course, Kinei may be smart, but some opponents can still | |
| overpower or outsmart him depending on their skill. Kinei is a | |
| very skilled fighter, who focuses more on stealth killing than | |
| on up front combat (But he isn't afraid to fight up close when | |
| he needs to). | |
| Bio: Long ago, a Darkfire and a death wraith family had a child. | |
| This child would go on to become the basis of a death wraith | |
| Darkfire family, where they would eventually become the | |
| Nightfires. After years of diluting their vampire side by only | |
| marrying death wraiths, the Nightfire's vampire power had become | |
| almost miniscule in comparison to the early days of the family. | |
| The Nightfires are a family of naturally skilled assassins, | |
| known for sometimes becoming the councils assassins. As the | |
| Nightfires were very skilled in assassination thanks to their | |
| Darkfire skills, and the Nightfires learned stronger self | |
| control through the Darkfire Disciplined Mind art, the | |
| Nightfires became a very skilled family. Whether it was | |
| purifying darkness shadow elementals to fight dark spirits or | |
| death-infused dark energy to fight lost souls, the Nightfires | |
| had a talent for combat, and quickly rose among the families. It | |
| didn't take long before the Nightfires had become not only | |
| skilled hunters, but were helping the councils kill any enemies | |
| they had through assassination. This family even would develop | |
| ties to the higher born families, where they would become allies | |
| of families close to the council, such as the Shadow, Black and | |
| Nightfall families. The Nightfires became very respected and | |
| known for their unique skills, and over time, they would develop | |
| their skills further until they had become a completely new | |
| family, where they no longer used the same old powers that the | |
| Darkfires used (as they adapted their elemental powers into | |
| shadow elementals and the Darkfire's combat abilities into their | |
| own death wraith styles) | |
| Kinei Nightfire, originally born Kinei Darkfire before the | |
| family changed their name to Nightfire), was born to the | |
| Nightfire family in pretty typical fashion. As he grew, he | |
| trained in assassination with his family, and learned his | |
| families arts. Kinei soon rose to a high level as an assassin | |
| from an early age thanks to his Nightfire natural and trained | |
| combat talents. However, Kinei didn't care that much about | |
| fighting as a child, to the point that he didn't really care | |
| about mastering his fighting power. It wasn't until he met the | |
| Shadow Family and met Anna Shadow that he started training | |
| seriously, as he found out that she was becoming a lost soul | |
| hunter alongside Kierran and Tarich, her childhood friends. | |
| While Kinei didn't have a lot of interaction with Anna as | |
| children, when Kierran was recruiting members for his lost soul | |
| hunter team, Kinei was among the first to join, having joined to | |
| get close to Anna. Kinei eventually befriended everyone on the | |
| team though, and fought alongside the team for many years. While | |
| Kinei was a bit sad when Anna and Kierran were married before | |
| Anna's exile, Kinei respected Anna's decision and kept fighting | |
| with the team as time went on. | |
| After Anna's exile, Kinei was hating the fact that Anna was | |
| hated for having power she couldn't control. However, he | |
| respected Kierran and continued trying to work with Kierran, | |
| hoping that one day, they would go to the living world together | |
| to reunite with Anna and Tarich (as Tarich left not long after | |
| Anna's exile). Kinei continued working for Kierran, helping him | |
| and assassinating any enemies that threatened them. Kinei even | |
| helped Kierran hunt down Drakath. However, after Kierran had his | |
| body taken over and the council started to mysteriously be | |
| hunted down by dark spirits and killed, Kinei didn't realize | |
| right away what had happened, thinking that Kierran's change was | |
| due to the new art that was being used to give the death wraiths | |
| new power to combat current threats. After Aeron beat the demon | |
| lord, Balor Beimnech, Aeron took Balor's power. After Aeron | |
| Kazara, as Kierran, reluctantly took the role of ruler of the | |
| death wraiths, Kinei became Aeron's personal assassin, killing | |
| any enemies that "Kierran" deemed needed to be killed. | |
| However, Kinei soon began to question Kierran's actions, as he | |
| started to notice that Kierran wasn't acting like himself. Soon, | |
| he began to realize that something was strange, and he couldn't | |
| write it off as the art that Aeron had used to gain Balor's | |
| demonic power had been the cause of it. However, Aeron Kazara | |
| was not foolish enough to not notice Kinei's doubt, and soon | |
| called a new assassin to kill Kinei if Kinei turned against him. | |
| However, it was after a particular mission, where Aeron had | |
| tried to get Kinei killed, similar to other instances he had set | |
| up to take out members of Kierran's old team so no one would | |
| figure out that Aeron wasn't really Kierran. After the mission, | |
| Aeron was surprised that Kinei had managed to fight the odds and | |
| survive, and it was at that point that Kinei knew that it wasn't | |
| really Kierran. Kinei immediately confronted "Kierran", trying | |
| to figure out why he'd seemed to set up Kinei's death. However, | |
| in a situation staged by Aeron, Aeron called an assassin to help | |
| him fend off Kinei, who Aeron accused of Kinei trying to | |
| assassinate him to take over the death wraith order. It was at | |
| this point that Kinei retreated to the living world, and has | |
| been on the run trying to escape the assassin after his life, | |
| hoping to find Tarich or Anna who might be able to help figure | |
| out what had happened. | |
