I have thought a smaller crane would work well behind the cab of
my 406 I don't want to increase the unladen weight too much. How
much weight can you lift over the side Turnip?

Its rated at 600Kg full in and I think 400kg out....... but it
lifts a tonne bag ok! The crane was electro/ hydraulic 12v, but
I drive it from my engine driven hydraulic pump and it has a lot
of grunt.... very good on timber with a pair of self gripping
tongs, and the retractable arm will pull stuff in to where you
want it!
If you look close you can see a jack leg beneath? This is a bit
of box with a small ram inside and a car towball on the top, I
extend this to take the weight (and break beads on tyres!) The
ally body is a tipper so I have an air operated bed lock on the
other side to keep things square?
The crane will actually take the spare off the roof too!
As I get older I have adapted stuff to save my back!
Phil.

Turnip
Your way of connecting the jack leg is brilliant. Just the thing
for my little 411.
When you get the time, would you mind adding some pictures?
Cheers,
Tom
