Midday crept upon Snowdin stealthily given the thick cloud layer
that had gathered over the frosted city, diffusing the daystars
light behind such obscuring cover that was threatening to gift
the ground with more of the endless powder from which the villa
got its namesake. After the hustle and bustle of the weekend,
Monday found downtown to be a much quieter affair, though that
didnt mean there werent still people out and about conducting
their business before the snow began to really fall in earnest.
At present it was intermittent at best, often carried down on
the occasional gust that ran between the buildings, tugging
insistently upon protective clothing or finding its way through
all the layers to chill monsters who might have less of a cold
tolerance than others. Members of the Royal Guard could be seen
roaming the more commercial district of the town to keep the
peace and deter nefarious behavior, but in the aftermath of
Friday night things seemed much calmer, like the Underground was
getting back to business as usual once more.
Speaking of business, Espresso Yourself was already abuzz with
its lunchtime crowd. Some patrons opted to brave the outside
patio that wrapped around the front of the building, giving a
great view of the people moving to and fro through the shops and
other venues that snuggled together. Many more were inside,
though there were still plenty of tables free for incoming
customers as well as a handful of spots at the front bar to
watch the baristas at work on various drink orders. The usual
soft music played incidentally over the speakers, the crackle of
the hearth and the low hum of conversation lending warmth to the
open space that beckoned people inward to partake in it.
Having been here since the shop opened early this morning,
Haldor had already taken his midday meal before the lunch rush
began in earnest, and was now floating wherever he was needed,
be it to assist customers or to direct his employees to various
tasks such as bussing tables or keeping the washrooms clean.
There was a young, petite, silvery-blue feline monster working
the front counter for the moment, her large jade eyes quite
expressive as she assisted incoming traffic with their orders,
whether they were for dine in or take out, thereafter directing
them appropriately with a purring, chipper voice. She was
wearing dark jeans and a pale cream top, a black apron with the
business logo embroidered on it making her readily identifiable
as an employee. An elegantly written nametag on the opposite
side as the logo proclaimed her to be Yanezi.

Along with a merry skip and a flutter of her feet along the soft
snow, a cheery and expressive violin was being played by a
certain fire elemental. She was dressed in a short, white dress

made her way through the streets of Snowdin. Soon the energized
Fia came to a halt in front of the shop - well, almost a stop.
Along with the movement bow, her whole body skipped, leaned
back, kicked and swayed her in unison with the music. She could
probably be just barely heard by the patrons whom were inside
and not too far from the windows; but certainly those who braved
the outside patio did.
She kept that brilliant, glowing smile as she continued to play
and spin before hopping on over to the front door and pushed it
up with with the side of her hip; her violin pouring in it's
song atop of the cafe music being played; as well as hustle and
bustle within. Moving fluidly between the tables and chairs
ironically like water as her fire crackled with joy, Fia then
frolicked over to the stage and continued her merry playing
there. However, before she had come anywhere close to finish
playing the fire elemental had placed the middle of the bow
between her beaming teeth and took the hands of the nearest,
perhaps unsuspecting monster and brought them up to their feet
and started dancing with them; giggling. Soon after she set
their hands free and continued playing her piece for a few more
minutes until it came to a gradual yet satisfying end.
"Gooooood afternoon Snowdin!" she proclaimed; accentuating her
greeting by playing a few more notes on her instrument and of
course, another giggle. Fia then spun and skipped her way on
over to the front counter, "Ooooh it's been a while since I've
bumped into you Yanezi! How've you been? I hope you've been well
cause I've been doing well! Plus it's such a lovely afternoon!
Did you catch the Dianna's Secret Show last night? One model
wore the most beautiful feather headpiece I had ever seen! It
was covered with crystals, it was white, blue and green - oh and
such an exquisite design! I instantly thought of you when I saw
it~" she said in an expected jovial tone, "Oh! My order! Oopsie~
Sorry dear, we should catch up again some time when you're not
working! I'll take a tall Vulkinian Coffee - extra, extra
extraaaaa hoot! Thank youu~"
Like she often did, Fia paid the required amount with an added
tip, swiped a number and bounded over for a nearby table;
humming happily as she idly played quiet tune on her beloved
instrument.

After exploring a bit of Snowdin and getting to know the
locales, Yuki walked into the coffee shop, bowing politely at
Haldor. "Konnichiwa." the Kitsune greeted the earth elemental.
She approached, pulling out her bag of gold, ordering a Caramel
Macchiato and a sandwich, although she had great difficulty
pronouncing "Macchiato".

Currently wearing a minty green turtleneck sweater, khaki suit
pants and snow boots; Luis was once again among the guests at
Espresso Yourself. He had shown up half an hour ago, just
missing the initial lunch rush; since then he had ordered a
raspberry scone; something he often recommended to people in
fact. One could therefore easily guess it was his favorite thing
to have out of the establishment's selection of baked goods.
Having finished his scone a good while back, Luis once again
asked Haldor for permission to play the piano set up on the
stage. At this point it was for sure a natural occurrence, the
necessity to ask was purely based on Luis' good manners
regardless of Haldor not being one to turn away entertainment
for or from his patrons.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBtXoy26D04
For a short stint, Luis played to the atmosphere of the caf, a
relaxing and peaceful series of tunes; one out of the lot was
perhaps the most noteable to those that were regulars much like
him, Haldor, and his staff; it was the first piece he ever
played the first time he came through the door several months
ago. It had turned into something of a 'fan favorite', that was
sure to lighten the mood. Just as the song he was playing ended,
and moments before he was to play another, a familiar glowing
face had weaved their way in playing a musical instrument of
their own. Luis rested an elbow on the ridge of the piano away
from any of the keys as he simply watched the impromptu
performance that preceded an introduction that was equally as
energetic. 'A good afternoon indeed.'
Luis took a moment to let things settle. However, all things
considered, the caf just got quite the dose of liveliness--
something that was far more acceptable and readily welcome at
this time of day. So, what was the piano playing angel to do?
Roll with it, of course. He was certainly no stranger to that.
Where the sparkling violinist left it, the glowing pianist
picked up the pace. "This next piece will be the last one of the
afternoon. I think you'll all like this one, lets finish on a
good note~!" Luis announced to his audience.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8TcSidYfLM
Though for those watching right now, something about the rhythm
changed. Was it because he said he was essentially going to go
out with a bang? Or was it something else? Either way; a
distinct extra oomph had crept its way into Luis' performance.
The change was so subtle, almost a trick of the light-- it was
the kind of thing a fellow musician would easily notice, though.
Those that are otherwise highly perceptive might pick up on it
as well. In time, this last piece would reach its end, Luis
would stand and bow politely before excusing himself from the
piano. On his way towards the counter, he waved to Fia and now
Yuki as he saw her enter.
When he reached the counter, Luis gave Yanezi a bright chipper
smile. "Hello again, Yanz~ Could I please have a hot chocolate
with amber-root syrup-- extra marshmallows too? Thank youuu~!"
Luis was the type to pay for all of the things he had ordered
when he was about to leave; he knew his limits and found it kind
of silly to repeatedly shill out money when it could just be
done in bulk at the most convenient time. He was given his own
table number, and sauntered over to Fia. "Hey Sparks. This seat
taken?" He asked with a friendly smirk.

The door aggressively swung open, the pane shaking as another
customer came in. Cliff rubbed the sides of his eyes with him
thumb and index finger, trying to be more gentle as he closed
the door behind him. "Sheesh, I hate Mondays," he grumbled under
his breath, his voice gruff as if he had just woken up. But he
had been up since 7am despite last night, rewiring a resident's
house in Snowdin. And as he would usual do when working there,
he would stop at Espresso Yourself for lunch. He hadn't been in
a while, having to help fix up a lot of homes in Waterfall due
to those quakes, so it was kind of nice to return.
The opossum staggered into the line, boots scuffing the floor
lazily. He rolled back his shoulders as he contemplated what his
stomach desired. At the counter, he sounded lazy as he talked, "
I'll have a Mocha and a club sandwich." He slammed the gold on
the counter. " Keep the change. "
As he got his order he sauntered to a table and dropped into a
seat, running a hand across the top of his head. All morning he
felt sluggish and had a headache, and not just from the weight
of his boots or the tools around his belt. As usual, he downed
too many into the early hours of the morning. Did he regret it?
No; it took his mind of Elle when he didn't want her to be on
it.
Cliff's attention diverted over to the cheery fire elemental,
literally lighting up the entire place except for his personal
bubble. He would often be amazed at how everyone could be so
happy, that in his better days he was like that too. Maybe those
years ago he would have brought up a conversation with her, but
he was in the now and could only hide the curiosity in his gaze.

Re: Come On In, The Coffee's Hot! (Open Scene)
By: Fia Date: December 15, 2017, 12:33 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Soon the violinist let the last note her instrument sung to fade
out into the cafe's ambience. It wasn't hard to hear that
someone was playing the grand piano at the cafe today;
especially when the monster announced that it was his last
performance for the day. From her seat she swiveled around to
face the piano and the angelic monster before gently placing her
violin and bow neatly across the table. The fire elemental
listened rather attentively; she certainly noticed the subtle
changes and added energy into the piece. To be quite honest, Fia
was a fan of it and in combination with her seemingly boundless
energy, she tapped her knees quietly along with the rhythm. Then
when it came to a close, along with some other monsters
listening, Fia joined in with the humble applause for the
performance.
Her smile brightened when he seemed to have remembered her and
wave, so naturally, she waved enthusiastically back with her
hand high in the air and silvery sparklers crackled and popped
about her wrist from the vigorous motion.
Soon after Luis had approached her and his friendly smirk was
met with a radiant smile, "Well, I have a feeling that it will
be." she chuckled before gesturing with her hands for him to sit
with her, "So that was your last performance for the day huh?
Glad I was able to make it in time! How've you been Luis? Been
up to much since the last time I saw yo-"
Fia jumped in her seat and a few bangs of surprise were set off
when the cafe door had been aggressively swung open. Taking a
moment to glance who had walked in she returned her attention
the winged monster before her. Feeling slightly embarrassed, she
continued talking as if nothing had happened, "So yeah, what do
you do when you're not Espressing Yourself? Eheehee~"
Later on Fia felt like she was being watched and when she turned
her head lo and behold the opossum monster was looking at her
and in kind she flashed a brief, brilliant smile and waved at
him.

It would be hard to miss the spunky fire elementals entrance
unless you were missing multiple key senses, and being of sound
senses the young Yanezi was certainly keenly aware when Fia
sashayed into the cafe with her usual vim and vigor. It prompted
a smile that looked slightly vampiric as her sharp bicuspids
peeked over her lips, jade eyes bright with enjoyment of the
show being put on. She helped a few other customers who came to
the counter before the perky filament did, but when the chipper
monster made her way over to the front counter to place her
order, the feline was grinning in such a way that her sharp
teeth gleamed in the soft light. Oh, same old, same old, Fia;
just getting ready to go the University. A chuckle. Gotta
figure out what Im going to major in though. Those slitted
eyes brightened at the mention of the show. Oh my gosh,
yaassss~ she purred, her tail swishing behind her as she leaned
on the counter with her elbows quite casually. Id love to get
my claws on something like that. No idea what Id wear it with,
but itd look sooooo good with my eyes, dont you think? For
emphasis she batted them at Fia before purring a light giggle as
the woman remembered that she was working and had stuff to do.
One positively volcanic coffee coming right up! she assured
cheerfully, letting money change hands as appropriate and
smiling her thanks for the tip.
Haldor was floating about the cafe ensuring various patrons were
comfortable and taken care of, even chatting briefly with a few
to catch up on how they were doing and the like. It was clear
that the business owner regarded many of his regulars like
family. He did look to the front when the entry bell rang, so
saw Yukite enter and offered her an acknowledging nod to her
bow, though he was much too far away to hear her greeting.
Yanezi, on the other hand, working the front counter during the
midday rush, certainly was close enough. It wasnt difficult to
recognize the kitsune from the descriptions that had run around
the staff as kitchen gossip either. Her expression shifted
subtly as her smile became a little less genuine, pupils
narrowing as her claws came out to idly stroke the countertop.
Konnici-- Ooooh, you must watch a lot of those cartoons, huh?
Her expression turned a bit less polite too, though her ears
still faced forward. Its funny, because from what Id heard
the humans that make them have some pretty great manners in
their society, but it seems like you havent picked any of that
up. Shame; reflects poorly on them too, I think. Her tail
twitched lightly from one side to the other as she looked at the
multi-tailed fox with eyes clearly boring into the woman. I
mean, how would they feel having someone who treats a person
assisting them so callously -- like they were just an object
instead of a being with feelings and sentience -- acting like
they were part of that culture? I know if it were me, Id be
pretty upset. Her slender shoulders rolled in a light shrug as
she spread her hands helplessly before ringing up the socially
inept monster. Fortunately for me, Im part of this amazing
society of monsters Underground, so Im pretty lucky to have
such a fabulous culture to represent and be a part of.
Definitely something Ill take with me whenever we get to the
Surface, since being a genuinely nice person translates no
matter what your culture. She told the creature her total and
made a point to slide the currency across the counter rather
than put it directly into the others palm, giving her a table
number so shed go away and probably just sulk some more if what
the rumors said had any basis.
Of course the very next customer, the feline was back to her
usual, polite and welcoming self, as if that had never happened.
It was certainly a welcome change of pace when Luis came over,
earning a brighter smile from Yanezi. That last piece was extra
spicy, Lou, she asserted cheerfully, even as she added the item
to his days tab and passed the order over to the nearest free
barista. I loved it. If you like really spicy performances you
should totally come down on Thursdays when we do slam poetry.
Its really amazing what some monsters manage to do with voice
and passion alone! She grinned at him but didnt keep him when
he went to go back and attempt to join the equally perky
performer. The gravitation between the pair certainly didnt go
unnoticed by the observant kitten, but she simply smiled a
little wider as she went back to her business.
Ears swiveled front and center as the opossum barged in
unceremoniously, eyes narrowing with a brief alertness in case
she were to need to rouse one of the guards who frequented the
cafe or roamed the downtown district routinely. Since he tried
to close the door more gently behind him, Yanezi relaxed,
retracting her claws and offering him a smile that may have been
slightly less warm than given Luis or Fia, but certainly not to
the point of being impolite. One cafe mocha and a club
sandwich, she repeated back for the sake of confirmation and
accuracy before giving him his total. The extra change went into
the tip jar as was customary, the electrician given his table
number so he could find someplace to plant himself comfortably
until his order arrived, which didnt take long as the kitchen
was in full swing for lunch rush.
Something tells me today is going to be an adventure, Yanezi
mused quietly to herself with a little head shake before the
door tinkled again and she turned her once again smiling focus
to the next guest.

Lesser Dog walked into the Cafe, her tongue was lulling out
lazily. She was not in armor this time, and was actually wearing
casual "civilian" clothing. There was also no sign of her sword
and shield, neither of these things were too surprising as this
was her day off.
As she walked through the door, she waved enthusiastically to
Haldor, as if desperate to be seen, before moving to the counter
to collect her complimentary coffee. She looked far more awake
than the last time she had been here. She moved over to the
thermos. "hey...Does... does someone have a cup?" She asked.
looking around.
After collecting her coffee, Lesser dog moved over to a table to
sit down, sipping her coffee happily. After getting seated she
looked around taking in who was here. Once again, the lack of
dogs was noticed. Though that was hardly surprising as most of
the Royal Guard would probably be on duty, or having lunch at
their posts right now. Most of the people who were here seemed
pretty familiar, though she was less sure about the Opossum, she
was fairly certain he was new to her. She sipped her coffee.
happily taking in the ambiance of the coffee shop.

Cliff didn't intend to appear as a threat; he was just
expressing how he felt today. He would only ever mess with
somebody if he felt threatened enough to not play dead. Even
then he wouldn't lay a finger on them before it happened; blame
it on his instinct. Others blamed it on his 'drunk nature'. Oh
please, he knew the limits he could take and that only ever
happened in his teens. Just because he smelt like it didn't mean
his atomic structure was made of alcohol. He just made sure he'd
drink enough to keep some spirits in him, to make him actually
do something with his life.
As the fire elemental waved he was kind of surprised that she
did, and with such a brilliant smile. Usually he could see
disgust or fear when people smiled at him, how the emotion
glassed over their eyes and faked their smiles. So in response
to this phenomena, he rose a hand a lazily waved back.

It wasn't an abnormal sight to see. Yanezi had little patience
for tomfoolery and ignorance. Luis watched on as the feline
quite rightfully defended her own honor, both as a person that
was snubbed and an earnest worker ignored. Quite the sight so
see...
"E-extra spicy?" Luis sputtered with very mild nervousness as he
placed his order. "Can't say I quite get the phrase, but from
you I know its positive." He followed up with a more confident
smile. "Perhaps I shall at least stick around on a Thursday for
once. While I'm unsure of how well I would perform in such a
manner, there isn't any harm in trying. Something tells me you'd
be a champion at it." Luis smirked at Yanezi before giving a
short wave as he left her to her work.
Luis bowed politely following Fia inviting him to sit with her.
"Oh, look at that, you're right." He shrugged with a slight
chuckle, oddly enamored by the last remaining twinkles that came
from the sparks of Fia's energetic waving. Though still in a
very good mood by the looks of things, it was obvious that Luis
was less than pleased with such a rude and abrupt entrance from
a newcomer. The angelic monster looked over his shoulder with
obvious concern, but saw no reason to pry. If that other monster
made any further of a disturbance, Yanezi would sort him out.
Therefore; the opossum monster was currently nothing to worry
about.
Turning back to Fia, Luis shrugged his shoulders. "Mhm. Last one
for the afternoon, thought I would compliment your entrance~."
He winked. "I've been doing well. If I could hazard a guess,
you're doing just fine yourself?" Luis sighed, not exactly
wanting to bring the mood down. "I've..." Honesty was often the
best policy however. "... Been figuring out some personal
things. Visited my mother recently." There was a very small,
nearly imperceptible twinge of sadness. "Not much else beyond
that and work. I've heard some rumors but- pfft- they're rumors,
nobody cares about those." He said, readjusting the positioning
of his seat a bit. "Have you been up to anything fun? ... Hah,
wow, that kinda sounds like a silly question if you're the one
being asked it now that I think about it-- Y'know I'm still
pretty sure you're a fun elemental and not a fire elemental."
