A Path of Snow Accompanied by Flames

Yes I'll be careful. Mhmm I've figured it out for the most part.
Phones are still strange I must say." Haruno stood with her back
against one of the many large trees that Snowdin was known for.
The dark wood welcome to look at but was unsurprisingly cold to
the touch so not very welcoming to touch. She pressed the phone
to her shoulder with her cheek so she could comb her fingers
through her hair, untangling a few strands at the end of one of
the two braids. The woman was on her way back home from
Waterfall after visiting Lucy to figure out how to further work
the phone she was given.
She slid away from the tree to twirl out into the large pathway
that was mostly unused. Only few monsters came this far into the
depths of Snowdin. Most remained in the city portion and those
who came out were either looking to get away or otherwise. She
was one of the very few who lived far out and away from people.
It was a strange thing to come back to. Having her very own home
with everything she had ever owned in it as if she always lived
there. It was a bit foreign but not so much that she was
uncomfortable with it.
"Ah yes I will speak to you later. Thank you- have a nice day."
She pressed the 'End Call' button and started off again on her
way home. The only reason she stopped was because walking and
talking on the phone at the same time was harder than she
expected. She had walked into a tree last time. How she had
swerved so far off path without noticing was beyond her but it
happened. That and although the temperature was not to her
liking she enjoyed the beauty of Snowdin. It was so very pretty.
Her winter coat clung tightly to her body, it was one of the
things she had to get used to while staying in Snowdin. Wearing
a coat unless she was inside a building. Everything was rather
cold but she didn't mind it that much. It helped level her out.
Haruno exhaled to watch her own breath spew out in front of her.
Even though the environment weakened her and wasn't exactly the
best for her she knew that she used to live here before- where
she wasn't sure not that it mattered. This place was home and it
always would be.
Silence filled the air besides the crunchinf of her shoes
against the snow while she walked. There was a slight breeze
that swept through her hair. Two large braids tied together into
a low ponytail down her back with the rest of her hair falling
naturally like normal. She opened her mouth, eyes squinting
before a small sneeze escaped her being.

The business was still going on like how it used to be. People
coming in and out for a couple of times, the same faces I keep
seeing ever since before I started the business and hell, even
their sons and daughters and generations after them.
I've lived here long enough to know that a young man with an old
soul can be too tiring. You'll end up wishing you should have
been dead already. But you know me, I can't leave, I have people
to take care of and some bellies to fill. Although, it has its
perks. Sort of. Things like living here for a long time than you
could ever imagine aren't too easy to explain. Did you know that
flame elementals can live up to 200 years? Well, I'm already a
thousand years old. No idea how or why, but it seems that after
killing all of my own kind--- well... Seeing some flame
elementals, and other high temperature creatures, SOME of my own
kind to protect the other monsters might have something to do
with this.
The other of my kind? Were the ones who survived. Wiped their
memories, leaving only me to carry the burden of remembering it
all.
One of the customers called out to me and ordered more fries and
a burger. I placed the wine glass I was wiping clean down on the
counter and nodded to him.
"Coming right up, Jim." I replied.
I moved into the kitchen and went to the fryer to start cooking.
I turned the temperature knob up a notch, the cooking oil
bubbled but suddenly it stopped. I flinged my arms up in
frustration, the furnace must have burned most of the charcoal
inside and now the fire is weak to even cook at all.
I cursed under my breath and sighed. It's a really busy hour,
more people started to enter and I wish I could really use an
extra hand but... I wonder where that young female goat who used
to help me went? I forgot her name though. But still, it's
nothing I couldn't handle.
I grabbed a towel and wiped my hands and went outside and down
to basement to fuel the furnace. I grabbed the metal rod and
opened the furnace hatch. The red hot flames reminded me of my
old hometown, but that was a long time ago.
I poked the charcoal around, trying to make it burn more but the
burnt charcoal isn't cutting it. I turned around to grab some
wood but as soon as I faced the wood supply, I was only greeted
with accumulated dust and drifting spider webs.
"Agh... I should have collected wood yesterday." I muttered
angrily.
Frustated, I urged myself to calm down. I returned into the
counter and grabbed a pen and paper. I approached the customer
and told him that I'll be back in a few minutes or so to grab
some wood while in the meantime, I grabbed a soda and gave it to
him.
"Drinks on me. Sorry for the wait." I smiled.
I took my coat and my hat and placed the paper with the words
"Just grabbing some wood. If you idiots can't wait, then find
another restaurant. I'll be back in a short while." written on
it then I went out.
I never fancied the outside. The falling snow often hurt my skin
when it comes in contact but I sort of got used to it. Now, it
turns to vapor before it even touches me.
I proceeded to walk outside and went to a route in the forest
where I used to gather wood. It was formerly a place where emo
kids and edgy monsters go to ruminate the flaws of people, life
and the whole universe. And to that, I say, "The world is how
you want it to be, not how the world wants itself to be."
I hurried faster to get some wood, I didn't mind the whole
environment while I was walking. But as soon as I looked right,
there was a cabin built there near to where I am getting wood.
Funny, all people in Snowdin preferred to be with company rather
to be alone. Who's the lone wolf living alone without its pack?
I shook of the thought, the customers back might be growing
impatient now. I went to the place where an there were ready cut
wood placed there. "Huh, looked like someone already cut them
off. Thanks, John Doe."
But looking at it, I didn't mind chopping two or three logs as a
way of exercising. So, I grabbed the axe and warmed myself up.
After that, I positioned myself and aimed the axe at the wood. I
raised the axe but as soon as I did, I heard someone talking. I
looked around, maybe the owner of the cabin is back perhaps.
That's good, perhaps I could talk to him or her about anything,
give them some friendly talk and be friendly after I chop some
wood
I focused back on the wood and chopped it down, breaking it in
two.

The woman made her way down the path looking through the trees
to admire their beauty. Of course she passed the cabin she had
always seen but never knew who it belonged to. It could be
abandoned for all she knew. Her house was still a bit far down
the line but for the most part it was just another long walk.
Each stride she took was nothing short of a stretch so she could
cover more ground and make it to her home quicker. Snow was
beautiful and it's white cold, enchanting beauty was always
admired yet at the same time...it's cold. Really cold.
Especially in places like Snowdin- well only in places like
Snowdin. It could be a dangerous beauty and sometimes those
chills got to Haruno and as the cold winds made their way
through the openings of her coat it would eventually reach her
gem and all hell would break loose.
The sound of an object hitting wood caught her attention for a
brief moment. This was definitely a first. She'd never heard
anything like it before. Haruno pondered only for a few moments
whether to go investigate or just forget about it and go home.
Her curiosity got the better of her and she turned off the
pathway to enter the woods. With eyes of scarlet scanning the
surrounding area only in the corner of her eye did she notice
Snow that was...a different shade? No no it seemed as if
something was emitting light and that light could be seen on the
snow. Who would have a lantern all the way out here? She didn't
move to step closer, only a few trees keeping the small distance
between them. The tree behind the monster was blocking her sight
of who it was but she was only slightly intrigued.

I chopped more wood and breaking single logs into twos and then
into fours. I gotta say, I haven't went wood chopping in long
while and I even forgot how good it felt to be able to work out.
The feeling of being out of breath and just exhuming steam felt
good, the rush of magmadrenaline surging inside of me was
exhilarating.
I looked again behind to see if the owner of the cabin returned
but found nothing but the darkness of the forest engulfing my
surroundings and me as the only source of light around. Being a
flame elemental has its advantages after all aside from being a
natural hot-head.
The snow seemed to be thickening even more. Snowdin hasn't
changed at all, of course in my perspective. Or maybe that was
me who has already adapted to the change that everything around
me is pretty much normal. Then again, there's no such thing as
normal. The world keeps its secrets from everyone so deep that
you begin to wonder what everyone is hiding from each other. And
what you see as normal is pretty much a facade of the truth that
the world is much darker and messier than we have imagined. You
begin to question if there's a better world out there, if there
is then where? If there isn't then do we have to endure for the
rest of our lives living in this cycle of pain and happiness? If
Haruno would be here, she'd slap my head just about thinking
philosophically.
Speaking of Haruno... A few words about her.
"I moved on."
I seem to have spent enough time with the wood chopping that I
almost forgot that I had customers waiting for me back in the
resto-bar. I quickly grabbed a sack and gathered as much wood as
I can supply for the day. Just as the bag was filled, I turned
around and looked up.
I chuckled, " Well, so much for living."
I began to walk back to the resto-bar.

The person after a few moments came into Haruno's view from
beyond the tree. There was a bag over their shoulder filled with
by what Haruno assumed to be wood. He hadn't been around these
parts before. When he began walking away she was able to see
just why there was so much light around them. The monster was
made of fire. It had to be the most beautiful thing she'd ever
seen. Somehow the lava bath she took when things went down with
June couldn't compare.
"E-Excuse me sir! I feel like I've seen you somewhere
before...we've met before yes?" She questioned now stepping out
from behind a tree herself. She moved forward with evenly paced
steps. "It's a bit fuzzy but I think I've seen you before.
Didn't I make a hole somewhere or something?" She asked unsure.

I turned to look around to see who was talking to me.
No... It can't be.
My body felt weak, the wood I was carrying all dropped to the
soft snow of Snowdin. This can't be possible, I thought...
"You... Haruno? I... I thought you were dead!"
