Fire Up That Forge
By: Cobalt Date: April 8, 2017, 11:20 am
---------------------------------------------------------
One morning a dragoness in her mid twenties stood proudly facing
the front of her recently built forge. Her wings were tucked in
at her sides, a pair of protective goggles rested on her
forehead and three tennis ball-sized chrome orbs floated in the
air and orbited around her slowly. Everything looked shiny and
new with her best sets of armor and swords on display at the
front - Cobalt frowned as soon as she noticed a spec smudged on
the front of one of the torso pieces and quickly grabbed onto a
cloth with her mouth to quickly polish it clean. She then
shifted one of the displays slightly to the right and measured
it to make sure that they were equidistant from each other.
The dragoness then took a deep breath; everything had to be
perfect . Not only was this officially her very own forge, but
she had also received word from the king that there will be a
number of monsters visiting her over the course of the next week
to look at her wares and possibly commission her for custom made
armor and weapons.
Her heart fluttered. A chance to be given the title of being The
Royal Blacksmith was finally within her grasp! She just had to
make sure she did a good job and work as hard as she could to
make sure she gets there. What an opportunity of a lifetime! She
drummed her claws against the ground as shs anxiously thought,
'I hope I don't mess this up.'

"Hey! It's lookin' good, Coa!"
Lucian, currently dressed up in a black and red tracksuit had
been out for a morning jog. While passing by he had just now
noticed Cobalt's personal forge was fully built! The aspiring
Royal Guard waved enthusiastically, almost to the point of
causing a slight breeze to come from him because of the wild
motion. Lucian hopped on over to Cobalt's side. "So. How're you
today? I see your forge has been built." He put his hands on his
hips, looking upon the majesty of the establishment, almost
bursting with pride. One could almost see the fire in his eye
sockets. "Exciting, isn't it?"

A broad grin suddenly formed at her maw as she whirled around at
the familiar voice of her friend, "Lucian! Good to see you!" she
greeted, "Thank you! It took long enough, but I finally have my
very own forge! If I'm completely honest, I'm rather nervous.
How about you? I hope you and your brother have been keeping
well?"
"Not too long ago I received word from the king that he was
thinking of starting a platoon of Royal Guards? So that's great
for business, I guess..."
The trio of orbs floating around her moved slightly quicker in
response to how she was feeling;as well as adjusting the
displays again. She frowned slightly in thought before gasping
at a sudden idea and the dragon turned to the skeleton again,
"Say, could I ask a huuuuuge favour? Are you busy today? Do you
mind being a model for me? I need to see how quickly and
efficiently I can work with custom-build armor and weapons so I
could give accurate estimates to future clients."

"Be careful with this one, he has trouble
standing still."
A voice calmly echoed in a joking tone as a strapping looking
skeleton walked into the forge. As Mistral walked next to his
brother, he gave him a soft tug on the shoulder, a teasing
gesture to show how much he liked to mess with him. [font=arial
black]"But he's determined, I tell you that much. If he puts his
mind to it, he can do anything."
Mistral looked to Cobalt, trying his best to smile. [font=arial
black]"The King spoke about your new forge, Cobalt, I'm very
happy for you. Such an opportunity, yes? Very good news! Though
I overheard you mentioning that you were nervous..." he
said as he walked closer to her, crossing his arms, looking to
the forge and then to her. "Perhaps you're
just excited?" He added lightly.

"Me? Nervous?" Lucian gave a pause, but it quickly dropped when
a massive grin came across his face as he started laughing
heartily. "Well, of course! I'm so gosh darn nervous that I'm
just..." He wiggled his hands in front of him rapidly. Anyone
that would've been looking at his face might be able to see some
sort of metaphorical fire in his eye sockets somewhere, he is
quite the spirited Skeleton after all. "Well, I dunno!" Lucian
sheepishly rubbed the back of his shiny dome.
Talk of the Royal Guard got Lucian even more hyped, he almost
started vibrating in place. "Mhm! One
[glow=orange,2,300]specially trained[/glow] for Prince Asgore!"
He looked right at Cobalt's face. His expression said it all, he
need not say a single word to convey that-- and she likely new
this was his goal already- he was gonna try his damnedest to be
one of these guards!
Lucian gasped, Cobalt wanted him to model for armor?! It was
almost as if his eye sockets turned into glowing stars and
sparkles. "EEEEEEEEEEE, Of course, of course, I'll totally do
it!!"
Mistral, Lucian's older brother had also come by today. Trouble
standing still? Bah! A mere trifle, not a challenge... Aside
from his very mild excited vibrating, that is. "Hahah, okay,
I'll admit; yeah. That's true, that's true. However!" In one
energetic move he triumphantly pointed upwards.

you bet I'll do anything it takes!"

Cobalt couldn't help but grin at Lucian, his enthusiasm and
positive energy was contagious! She then raised a paw to her
chin and her mouth parted slightly with an excited anticipation,
"You're aiming to be one of the Prince Life Guards? That's an
amazing goal to have! They would have to be crazy not to let you
in! I'm so excited for you - wow I'll have to make sure to add
some extra polish to your gear." she exclaimed with a playful
wink.
The dragon then let out a sigh of relief upon hearing Lucian
agree, "Oh thank you! I was worried you would be too busy today,
ha~"
When the second skeleton had unexpectedly made his presence
known, the three chrome spheres which were orbiting Cobalt
dropped an inch or two in her surprise before they regained
their original height and continued to orbit the dragon.
"Ah Mistral! So good of you to stop by! Now two of my favourite
skeletons are the first to visit my forge, wonderful~" she
hummed with a broad smile.
When Lucian had another wave of excited vibration overcome his
body and posed dramatically, Cobalt couldn't help but chuckle,
"Ah well, in that case I'll have to make sure to not add any
Mail Coifs, Hauberks or Pixanes otherwise you'll end up sounding
like a chandelier with them rattling against your bones! Chain
Mail is so last season anyway. So tacky, arhk." she commented in
jest with a disgusted flick of her tail at the end - well mostly
in jest. She really didn't like forging that stuff.
She then humbly dipped her head at Mistral's comments, "Yes it's
such a wonderful opportunity that I am so lucky and grateful
for! It is really exciting, I'm just nervous since I'm taking up
the mantle after Briarhart - he made such exquisite designs for
a range of heavy armor and swords! I just hope that my work
could measure up to his in some way." she explained, a tone of
high admiration in her voice when she spoke of the newly retired
Blacksmith. Perhaps her friends would know that she had idolized
him for a very long time.
Soon after the dragon let out an excited chirp as she swiftly
side-stepped around one of the skeleton brothers and slipped in
between them; wrapping a broad, metallic wing around each of
them and ushered them to follow, "Please! Do come in! Make
yourselves at home and there is so much to do!" she proclaimed
as the metal door to the forge swung open the moment they got
within close proximity. As they made their way into a highly
organized and clean workshop. Everything in sight had some sort
of metal attached or built into the equipment; purely so that
Cobalt could lift and move things around with ease. It was also
quite spacious with several work benches pressed against the
sides of the room, tools such as hammers were strapped to the
walls in perfect alignment and arranged according to size and
there were a number of storage cupboards and shelves - which
were also neatly organized. A furnace powered and heated up by
some of Hotlands' lava, Welder, Air Compressers and other
equipment of the like could also be found at the centre of the
room.
As the three entered, various equipment and tools within close
proximity to Cobalt roared to life; flying around in every which
direction according to the dragon's wishes. Soon enough a
clipboard with a metal backing, a quill and ink bottle (which
also had metal pieces attached to them) and a measuring tape
flew towards the trio from one of the shelves. The Blacksmith
then gestured for Lucian to stand in an open space in the room
before the measuring tape flew towards him. The clipboard
hovered in front of Cobalt as she wrote several notes, drew out
simple diagrams and dotted down the measurements of the skeleton
as the measuring tape simultaneously stretched across and
wrapped around every inch of his body. It may be apparent that
Cobalt didn't think much about any possibilities of intruding on
personal space as she took measurements, since, she wanted to
get this just right.
She then frowned, "Hmm..."
