What's next for the UMMA?
By: umma-manager Date: March 16, 2017, 3:57 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
I'm the owner/manager of the UMMA and I thought I'd post a topic
here to look at some of the things going on the UMMA and
generate some discussion and whatever.
Usually these discussions are between the UMMA stable managers,
but I want to open this up to any other fans who check out the
website.
Feel free to comment on these ideas. Or add your own if there's
something you want to see.
- Stable vs Stable fights. We're thinking of introducing this as
an extra set of fights at each event. A sort of 'winner stays
on' type of contest.
- The return of the UMMA Awards. We'd like to have a 2017 awards
magazine and we're in the process of sorting out the award
categories.
- Two events per magazine. We started this last year, running
two events and then a single magazine. The idea was to have
content appear faster on the website. Do you guys like/dislike
this? Or should we go back to 1 magazine per event?
- The Stories section of the website. This was intended to be a
copy/paste of all the writing that is posted here on the forum.
It only has 1 story so far. Worth updating? Or ditch it?
- In progress magazine. At the moment I wait until all managers
have submitted content for the magazine before I publish it.
What if I posted magazine content as I received it and when it's
finally finished the cover is revealed?
- Fighter comparison. I thought it might be a cool feature to
allow you to pick two fighters and see their stat's and
attribute's side by side. Is that something worth having?
Cheers and thanks for hanging around with the UMMA ;D

I vote for the 2 Events per magazine. It gives me more time to
write articles and I believe there are more events per year this
way.
I would also like to add some of my forum ramblings to the story
section. Do they have to be reformatted into HTML?
I also like the in-progress magazine. This way you could respond
to other articles and wouldn't have to wait until both events
are run to see some writings. It will also allow me to write a
preview for each event instead. Right now the preview for the
2nd event and the write up come out at the sane time.
Are you still considering splitting the magazine
into two sections, one for each event?

I like what is happening with the UMMA. I think I wold like the
idea of the stable vs stable idea. I could see this working
maybe once every two or three months or put in a rotation like
some of the regular pay per view events. Maybe even a rotation
with team warfare where one rotation we have a stable vs stable
and the second rotation we have team warfare.
I also like the return of the UMMA awards. I tried doing this
with my stables in one of my posts.
As for the two events per magazine that seems to work best for
me and I like the idea of the magazine in waiting idea so we
could set up the second event when we write for the first event.
I really like the fighter comparison. Maybe it would help me
set my fighters up better.

I'm actually right now writing something that I would like to
add to the magazine, but isn't really a 'news' story. It's more
what happens in someones mind. Yet it is connected with the
other things I'll submit for the magazine. Posting it here is of
course an option, but the link between the two will be
eventually lost. So perhaps, I should use the story section for
that... especially if it is possible to add link between the
magazine and the story page.
BAB asks a good question! How do the stories move from here to
there? And will images migrate with them?

I'll create a post for that in the Managers forum. Looks like
the Stories part of the site should have added content, so we'll
be keeping it :)

I like the topic of UMMA awards, some of the award categories
which I want to share are
Best fighter, Best Debut Fighter (fighter who performed best in
her debut match), Best Stable, Best Debut Stable and Best Team
etc.
But my question is how the winners are selected, from their
performance records or from polls?
Also I liked the 'Stable vs Stable fights' topic but I want to
elaborate it......we can name it as 'Challenges'. A manager of
one stable can challenge another stable and then some fighters
from one stable will fights with fighters of other stable, and
not only this a manager can challenge a single fighter too
(instead of stable vs stable). A fighter is may be from another
stable or from her/his own stable.
For example, I can challenge another stable or I can challenge
only one fighter from another stable or I want a fight between
two fighter of my own stable.
Please introduce this type of option where we can 'Challenge'
others.
I hope you will like idea.

With the awards...the categories are currently only open to
managers - but they will be made public at some point :)
I would imagine some categories will be from polls. But, if
there are awards based only on statistics - then those would be
automatically determined.
The 'stable vs stable' is something we're still working on. I
want to make it as open as possible, but it also needs to have a
consistent structure. By that I mean, I need to be able to
control how it effects each event easily :)
