Cruzing For Talent (RP)
By: Dragons Den Date: August 13, 2015, 7:16 am
---------------------------------------------------------
This is another short RP. We all know how my month-long
recruitment trip went, but just prior to that I had done a
little signing as well. The Dobrev signing made it into TKO
Magazine. This one didn't. So, here it is, kinda, briefly, at
least in lead-up.
Cruzing For Talent
Dragon sat in his private box, taking in the action at
Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Stable leader
Sophia Bush sat beside him, and Briana Evigan sat beside her.
Big fight up next, Dragon announced. Weve gotta pay
attention to this one.
Sophia squinted her eyes. Hart and Cruz?
Yeah. Keep a sharp eye on Penelope Cruz. I think there might be
potential there we can tap.
Shes signed with World of Fight, Sophia said. And I dont
know that shes worth a trade.
Dragon shook his head. WoF is on hard times. I have it on good
authority that their back is up against the wall. I met with
Nina Dobrev before coming here tonight. Things look good for us
on that front, by the way.
You made a move for Dobrev? Briana asked, sounding a little
surprised. Her record is terrible.
Dragon shrugged. I dont care about records. How many times do
we have to go over that? Your record was a bit sh*t when I
signed you, too. Look at ya now.
A bit sh*t is not total sh*t, Briana laughed.
Dragon has said, many times, Sophia reiterated, that it
matters not what shes done before coming to us, but what she
could do after getting here.
Exactly, Dragon smiled. Shes got a bit of experience behind
her. Shes just come into her prime. I reckon you girls can hone
her skills and get her ready for big things. Just trust me,
okay?
Okay, Bri sighed, giving in.
The conversation stopped for a moment as the announcers voice
over the arenas PA system arrived at the interesting part.
Ladies and gentlemen, Penelope Cruuuuuuz!
Dragon, Sophia and Bri watched as Penelope Cruz made her way
down to the octagon. She looked calm. Sophia may have mumbled
the word sedate.
Sophia looked over at Dragon. Think being on the brink of
losing management will affect her fight?
Thats part of what I want to see, Dragon admitted. This
might give us a good indication of how strong her mental game
is.
Its strong, Bri announced casually.
Dragon and Sophia gave her quizzical looks. How can you tell?
Dragon asked.
Bri shrugged. Look at her body language, her stance, her face.
Thats the look of someone whos paying attention. Shes
focused. I couldnt blame her if she wasnt, but, just look at
her. Shes ready.
Sophia chuckled. I dont know how you see all this, but lets
see if youre right.
The bell rang and the fighters engaged. The crowd was cheering
loudly for Cruz, which brought a smile to Dragons face.
Hear that? Dragon asked. Thats a crowd-pleaser. A
fan-favourite. Thats butts in seats.
Sophia rolled her eyes. Ugh. Money? Come on, pay attention to
her skills for once.
As they watched Penelope Cruz and Melissa Joan Hart clinch,
Briana turned to Dragon. How do these two usually stack up?
Harts won two out of three, he answered.
Sophia raised an eyebrow. She might be out of a job and shes
fighting someone she struggles against? How is she that calm?
I dont know that struggle is the right word, Bri offered.
Who won the last fight?
Cruz, Dragon said.
Well, there you go, said Bri. Pennys obviously a thinker.
And she thinks shes worked Melissa out.
Sophia gave Bri another dubious look. Tell me you didnt get
that from the way they entered the cage.
Briana shrugged. Makes sense. You just watch. Cruz will control
this.
The trio watched intently as Cruz and Hart continued to grapple
throughout a lot of the first round. They seemed to be locked in
a stalemate as each failed to land any meaningful offense.
And then Cruz connected. And connected again. And again. And
suddenly Penelope Cruz had Hart on the ropes and didnt seem
willing to let up.
It was hard fought, but Cruz appeared to be in control the
entire fight. Then in the third round, Cruz put Hart out of her
misery with a well-timed high kick.
As Penelope Cruzs arm was being lifted by the ref, Briana gave
her colleagues a grin and a shrug. Told ya.
Dragons jaw was hanging slightly agape. Um thoughts?
Sophia was nodding. I think you were right about that
potential.
They both turned to look at Bri expectantly. She looked
contemplative.
I think, Bri started, that anyone with that amount of focus
and clarity and confidence in a game plan and the patience to
execute it, may have the potential to surprise a lot of people,
and even become dominant.
Dragon smiled. Think you can work with her?
Id imagine so. Bri winked back cheekily. Think you can sign
her?

Look at the all-serious, all-knowing Bri! She doesn't even know
she's doing it, does she?
You know how much I love what you've done with those two. And
hey... Dragon managed not to get in the way. In fact, he even
made intelligent contributions. :P
Another excellent story, and I love the way you expanded on what
the sim produced for the Cruz/Hart fight. :D

I think maybe Bri's been spending too much time with a certain
tactical genius from a friendly stable. :D
And maybe that stable owner's professionalism has rubbed off on
Dragon a little, too. :D
I do like a challenge, so going near the sim made sense in that
regard, haha.
Thanks again Richelle! I appreciate it. I wanted to knock this
out for a little bit of happy before I got to the next chapter
of that Bri/Olga/Abbie fiasco. Which is almost done now.
